INTRODUCE THE MEDIA PRODUCT YOU ARE FOCUSING
ON AND ITS PURPOSE.
The product I will be focusing on is our teaser trailer. It was created as part of a
marketing campaign which includes a poster, magazine cover and the teaser trailer.
We decided to work with the genre of 'teen drama and the film is called 'Casey's
Journal'
The story revolves around the subject of bullying and the impact that it can have on a
person.
What is the intended/ preferred meaning to your trailer?
•Bulling is wrong
•Bullying can be physical and verbal
•Bullies shouldn’t get away with it
•You should tell an adult or guardian what is
happening if you are being bullied
•You shouldn’t judge someone before you
know them
•Bullying can happen in a number of
ways physical and mental (cyberbullying)
Which audience is most likely to take a preferred meaning and
why?
•Our target audience- people who enjoy teen dramas
•People of a similar age- can relate to the characters in the film
•People who have experienced bullying – they can relate to the film and
are more likely to go watch it if they have been through something
similar.
WHO MIGHTTAKE A NEGOTIATED READING AND WHY?
 Bullies – different perspective to bullying and alternative meanings behind it
 People who haven't experienced bullying- can't relate to the character or bullies
 People of a different age group as the genre of film doesn’t interest them.

 People that dislike teen dramas might not consider watching the film.

 Our target audience is a mass audience as it would appeal to men and women between the age of 16-25, however
the gender is skewed more towards females.
 The gender is more likely to be female due to the female cast.This then therefor means girls of this age group can
relate to the characters.
