A Girl Like Her
Teaser Trailer Analysis
Mise En Scene
 Lighting
The lighting changes a lot throughout the trailer as the filming switches between being form the
vlogging camera of the bullies, to the camera of the victims friend. When the bully is volgging
her camera is not as good quality as the boys as he has gone and bought himself a new one. When
the bully is filming the lighting is a lot more exposed and less enhanced than when the boy is
filming.
There is a clear colour change when the victim gets knocked into by the bully and gets insulted,
this is to emphasis she isn't the perfect girl she leads on to be and has a dark side.
 Costume
Throughout the teaser trailer everyone is in casual everyday clothes. The season her is most
likely to be Autumn/Winter as most people are wearing hoodies or jumpers, but not many big
coats. Most of the characters in this teaser are teenagers so their clothing is probably similar to
what teenagers were wear wearing when this was filmed in 2015.
 Setting
There are three main places where this teaser trailer was filmed. One being at school and the
other being wither the victims’ best friends room or the bully’s.
In School
- Toilets, Lockers, Hallway, Outside, Stairs
Target Audience
The target audience for
this film is most likely to
be between 16-25 year
olds. Some of the scenes
are very intense and hard
hitting which some
younger viewers may find
hard to watch. Genre
The genre of this film is teen
drama which is very clear to see
from the teaser trailer. This is
due to the age of the characters
in the film and the events which
are shown in the trailer. The
sound may also give an
indication to the genre as it is
very dramatic due to the
crescendos and orchestral
sounds.
Camerawork
 The camerawork used in this teaser trailer is taken from the point of view of
the victim, there are a few shots of the victim taken by her friend but it is
mainly recorded on the bully's camera, from the victims perspective.
 The camera used is hand held so the filming is very unsteady and shaky. Most
of the shots are taken with a fish eye lens which gives us a good look into
their surroundings.
 There are mainly close ups and mid shots within the teaser trailer.
Editing
 There is montage editing throughout the teaser trailer with text graphics to tell more
of the story and what might happen next. The text graphics give us more information
about the bully and what she is like.
 There is a mix of straight cuts and faded transitions between the clips which helps to
break up the different scenarios and settings of the trailer.
 There are a number of voice overs on top of clips of the bully spoken by the victim
which emphasis her vulnerability and her fear for the mean girl.
Sound
 There are two underlying soundtracks throughout the entire trailer.
 The sound starts of very happy and upbeat, using drums and an electric piano as the bully is telling
her story. However as the text graphic theres a time’ appears, the music becomes very loud and dark
and sounds like a cello playing with some choir sounds, this is when the story changes
 The music then becomes faster as the text graphic saying ‘to tell the truth’ the choir noises get
louder and continue through to the next text graphic saying ‘and a time’ after the large crescendo of
when the victim gets pushing into the shower. After this text graphic the music becomes a lot lighter
and uplifting. This is when the best friend thinks of a way to expose the bully and what she has been
doing. Leading up to the end the music becomes much more dramatic with singing accompanying the
load drums and piano. The trailer ends with a load cymbal crash and goes to silence, where the bully
says a few final words to her camera about her being a normal girl.
 When the teaser ends and we just see text graphs, during this there is singing in the background.
 There is dialogue throughout the entire trailer.
