The Kiss By Kate Chopin Essay
Things and People are not always as they appear to be on the first sight that is why we have to
examine them in different ways otherwise they may mislead us. That is more then true in the short
story The Kiss by Kate Chopin in which she uses imagery, irony and simile to show us how deceitful a
person can be. She tells us by the actions of her characters that a person should not be judged solely by
his or her appearance or words because those things can be dangerously misleading. All of the
characters in Chopin story play their own games and in more or less visible way try to manipulate
others to achieve their own sometimes not very righteous goals, but who will eventually succeed in
realizing his desires in this world of deception and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But moments later we learn that not everything went as she wanted when Harvey tells her that he won
t be meeting with her any more because he stopped kissing women; it s dangerous . Second little
manipulator in the story is Mr. Harvey, the secret lover of Miss Nathalie whom we first meet when he
because of supposedly not seeing Mr. Brantain sitting in the shadow, gives Nattie a passionate kiss
after with shocked Brantain leaves the room and Nathalie not able to stop him becomes furious.
Harvey tries to persuade her that he did not see the other man sitting there Hang me if I saw him
sitting there, Nattie! but in fact he quite well knew that he is there as well as he had to know about
their talks that lasted for past two weeks. And so, the kiss was a provocation as we see on Harvey face
a little amusement and some defiance struggling with the confusion in his face that meant to show
Brantain that Nattie is taken and to finally force her into a situation in which she would have to decide
with whom does she want to be and for what she cares more, money or love. Unfortunately for him
she chooses money and got married whit the man who had them thus giving Harvey no other choice
then to leave her as he did not want to have an affair whit her but rather wanted to have her

The Is The Most Valuable Asset Of All
America isn t just recognized as one of the wealthiest country in the world but also a country that a lot
of people look up to. Therefore it is obligated to keep up with the exceptional reputation by taking
care of the citizens of United States through providing free adequate health care to its people. Health
is the most valuable asset of all. A lot of Americans today are suffering from illnesses that can be
easily treated yet they are unable to get a treatment because it is too expensive for them. Due to this
reason, a lot of people tend to avoid going for check ups or even hide their illnesses because they are
afraid of the high cost that might lead them into heavy debt or bankruptcy. In addition, if every citizen
has an access to free health care, they are likely to be more productive with their lifestyles which
doesn t just equal to an improved society but also an improved country! The government should take a
step toward changing the expensive health care system by formulating a path in which the citizens are
provided with a high quality, free health care because it s not affordable, it will improve the
experience of care and promote a healthy nation. Health and wealth are two very important
components in our lives. However, health would be considered more essential. Life becomes tough
without wealth but a life without health becomes intolerable. It is an obvious fact that health
contributes more to a longer life than wealth. Sadly, there are millions of people

History
Mesopotamian Scientific Developments and Aspects The Mesopotamians pioneered several modern
day scientific principles and tools and contributed greatly to the development of future civilizations.
(3) The Mesopotamians lived in what is in and near modern day Saudi Arabia between the rivers
Tigris and Euphrates. This is what lead to their name, as Mesopotamian means between two rivers in
greek. Mesopotamia was a land of many different city states and cultures unified for the advancement
of all in Mesopotamia. These cultural differences run very deep within the different city states of
Mesopotamia, and these differences contributed heavily to the Mesopotamians scientific advances and
ironically, lead to their actual unification as a single culture and civilization.(3) (2) (5) One of the most
important developments that lead into this was the development of story telling and writing in ancient
Mesopotamia. Writing in ancient Mesopotamia came about around 4000 B.C. and began to develop
into a major cultural aspect in Mesopotamia via the development of many stories and records. This
writing was imprinted on clay tablets and other clay based constructs throughout the existence of the
civilization. Thousands of tablets and other Mesopotamian writings were made through chiseling or
rolling shapes and hieroglyphs onto the clay tablets. Many of these tablets have been discovered in
relatively good condition, allowing them to be translated and

The Profit Fair Market Value Of The Loss Corporation Essay
Built in Gains and Losses. If the aggregate fair market value of the loss corporation s assets either
exceeds or is less than its aggregate tax basis in those assets by an amount which is more than the
lesser of 10% of the aggregate value of the assets on that date or $10 million, then special rules apply.
If in the year of the transaction or a later year the corporation recognized gain on property which it
owned on the transaction date, the annual limitation would be increased for that year by the amount
necessary to shelter the portion of its net unrealized built in gain attributable to such property. The net
unrealized built in gain is the excess of the aggregate value of all of the corporation s property on the
transaction date over its aggregate tax basis in all of its property at that time.
Conversely, if the corporation had built in loss, the loss would be limited the same way that the NOL
would be limited.
Disallowance of the Entire Carryforward. If the loss corporation does not continue its historic business
during the two year period following the ownership change, the entire carryforward is disallowed.
Even after the carryforward is disallowed, the built in gain can be offset by the built in losses.
Purpose Test. The service can disallow a deduction or credit if (a) control of a business is acquired and
(b) the principal purpose of the acquisition is to secure the deduction or credit.
Limitation on Other Carryforwards. A collateral effect of an ownership

Informative Speech Outline
Specific Purpose: At the end of my speech, my audience will have a better understanding of EDM
culture.
Thesis Statement: Electronic Dance Music is more than just bops and scratching sounds; it s a way of
life.
Introduction: (Play YouTube video from 1:38 1:58). What you just heard were the sounds of EDM.
EDM stands for electronic dance music. Also you saw first hand the inside of a rave called Electric
Daisy Carnival (a Las Vegas event famous for finding yourself under the electric sky ). What rave
culture means to me is a place I can be myself and express my creativity in a judgment free
environment. Today, I am going to explain the history behind the top 3 most popular genres of EDM,
and the meaning behind rave culture.
I. The different types of EDM I will be talking about is Dubstep, House, and Trap A. The first genre of
music I will be talking about is Dubstep. 1. Dubstep originated in South London, and traced back to
the Jamaican sound system in early 1980 s. a. This type of music played in secret underground clubs.
This genre was taboo to most people. 2. Dubstep was made popular in the United States by an artist
named Skrillex. a. The music website Allmusic classifies The overall sound of Dubstep is classified as
tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped
samples, and occasional vocals (Bush 2012). (Insert sound clip here) B. The second genre of music I
will be talking about is House. 1. The origination of house music in the United States began in
Chicago s Southside in 1977. a. A new type of club created, given the name The Warehouse. 2.
Frankie Knuckles is, The Godfather of House. 3. Early DJ techniques seen in the The Warehouse 4.
House music was generally characterized by repetitive 4/4 beats, rhythms mainly provided by drum
machines, off beat hi hat cymbals, and synthesized baselines (Cambell 2012). (insert sound clip here)
C. The third and final genre of music I will be talking about is Trap, my personal favorite. 1.
Originated from 1990 s Southern hip hop. Some elements used by artists like Outkast, Ghetto Mafia,

Communication Technology And Nonverbal Communication
Technology can be positive through providing face to face live video and audio chats, but can also be
detrimental when it comes to simple texting without nonverbal messages. Facetime has been able to
provide expressions and voice cues that help bring meaning to verbal messages. Nonverbal
communication is hard to fake and is more trustable. While, texting can be detrimental to relationships
because the meanings of words are skewed since they don t have nonverbal cues to give context and
meaning to them. The relationships that is most influenced by technology is my friends at Uconn
because we spend so much time together and the amount of closeness I feel with these people is no
comparable to those affected only by technology because I feel a sort of closeness through
maintaining a close distance to them and I have the ability to exchange vocal and facial cues.
A new communication technology I believe is having a positive influence on interpersonal
relationships is facetime. This is because facetime allows nonverbal communication to happen which is
one of the most important forms of communication as it plays a role in about 60% of all face to face
conversations. For example, me and my best friend would communicate about our daily troubles and
when we wanted to talk about them we would use facetime to talk. We thought this would be
beneficial to our important friendship because through facetime we were able to distinguish whether
the other person was feeling actual sympathy or

Challenges facing female head teacher s phenomenological study in the Effia Tanokrom Circuit of the
Secondi Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region of Ghana
Women just as their male counterparts, have a right to actively participate in leadership in any facets
of the society. In fact, they are permeating every domain of activities with assertiveness and proven
competence, and making in roads into hitherto male monopoly of executive management roles in
organizations especially in the developed countries. This study will seek to gain an insight into the
leadership styles adopted by female head teachers of basic school in the Effia Tanokrom Circuit of the
Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region of Ghana. It will also investigate the challenges
they face in their line of duty, and how these challenges could be surmounted to enhance their
performance. The Ghana Education service and other teacher association. Significance of the study
will lie in its capacity to contribute to the debate on female leadership, particularly in our country. It is
hoped that the results of the study when disseminated through publication, will inform prospective
female head teachers in basic schools about the challenges that they should anticipate and the various
strategies they can employ to surmount the situation. It is hoped that this will encourage female head
teachers who have similar challenges to develop similar strategies to help them. It will also serve an

The Causes of Hyperthyroidism Essay
The thyroid gland is found in the front of the neck and produces two main hormones. The hormones
are called thuroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronine (T3). Together these hormones regulate the body s
metabolism by increasing energy use in cells, regulate growth and development, help to maintain body
temperature and aid in oxygen consumption. These two hormones are regulated by hormones
produced by the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. The hypothalamus senses changes in body s
metabolic rate and releases a hormone known as thyropin releasing hormone (TRH). This hormone
then flows through connecting vessels to the pituitary gland which signals it to release another
hormone. This hormone is known as thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). TSH then makes ... Show

The main cause of hyperthyroidism Graves disease which affects quite a few people in the general
population. This disease is characterized as an autoimmune disorder. This means that the body makes
antibodies known as thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin that bind and over activate the production of
thyroid hormones [3]. So in essence the antibody mimics the thyroid stimulating hormone and when
the negative feedback loop is in affect the antibody still binds to the thyroid and T3 and T4 are over
produced [2].
Thyroid nodules are lumps in the thyroid often called adenomas. These adenomas are quite common
affecting around seven percent our countries population. These lumps on the thyroid can become very
active and thus produce a large amount of thyroid hormone. In some cases hyperthyroidism is brought
on by consuming too much medication that treats an underactive thyroid.
There are many causes of hyperthyroidism, but the symptoms of hyperthyroidism are the same no
matter what causes the over expression of thyroid hormones. The main symptoms of hyperthyroidism
are fatigue, shortness of breath, weak muscles, anxiety, difficulty sleeping and heart palpitations.
Interestingly, even with an increase in appetite the patient will have weight loss.
There are many factors that may increase the risk of acquiring hyperthyroidism. One of the most
important factors is that women are at a much higher risk of developing hyperthyroidism than men,
about ten fold higher risk than

Gross Domestic Product ( Gdp )
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is a description of a nation s production levels for a period of time, as
well as a measurement of economic viability. It is calculated by adding the consumption, investments,
governmental outlays, and net exports of a nation in either one year or a quarter. The different
components of GDP are at differing levels in each nation. China and Germany, for example, have
substantial net exports, and Singapore comparatively relies much more on government outlays to grow
its economy. Although the latter uses more governmental outlays than most nations, all nations to
some degree make attempts to alleviate economic downturns, as well as to maximize upward
movement. Though there must be concern for issues such as the notorious crowding out effect,
government activity is often the catalyst to dramatic changes in the economy. The previous example of
China as an exporter is true, however it must be noted that it too relies heavily on government
expenditures to create a stable economy that has the financial infrastructure to grow. As a matter of
fact, all the Economic Tiger nations had to use government planning to change their course from being
impoverished nations, to being financial hubs with much room for opportunity in the work force.
Japan alone, would not have become the first industrialized nation without its use of public loans and
active national bank. Since understanding a government s ability to spend is important for an
economy, it is critical to

Bass Pro Shops
Prepare a S.W.O.T. analysis for Bass Pro Shops. What types of strategies do you recommend based on
your analysis?
Strengths (company s internal factors from resources and capabilities) Bass Pro Shops have a
competitive advantage, which in the text is defined as a firm has a marketing mix that the target
market sees as better than a competitor s mix (Perreault et al, 2011 p. 47). The way that Bass Pro
Shops has this competitive advantage is that its stores have become a tourist attraction making
customers want to go into their stores to experience the unique environment that incorporates
attractions and learning opportunities. In addition, Bass Pro Shops have gained recognition for their
outstanding customer service. The people that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the economy in a downturn it makes it a lot more difficult for people to justify spending the
money on things that they really do not need. And since these stores are not everywhere you go it
causes people to travel long distances in order to visit, which means they have to spend additional
money on fuel to get there. The gas prices have been increasing to amounts that have put a damper on
a lot of peoples travel plans. With all of the economic problems some customers are going to go
somewhere that is more local and better in their price range. In addition, Bass Pro Shops face threats
from traditional and specialty sporting stores, mass merchandisers, and catalog and Internet based
retailers. These merchandise providers are everywhere and the 50 Bass Pro Shops that are currently in
the United States and Canada can be quite a distance for the outdoor enthusiast that already knows
what he or she may need. Furthermore, the consumer who enters a store with the intention to only
touch and / or play with an item that he or she ultimately plans to purchase online threatens all retail
stores.
We would recommend that Bass Pro Shops continue to make their stores unique; however, making a
few smaller stores with some of the same features, lower prices, and closer to large shopping centers
would allow customers to experience the environment, which may entice them to visit the larger
stores. I think that since they

high quality preschool education. Since 1979, the one child policy has been in effect for 30 years in
China. The first generation of single child are now growing into childbearing age. The one child
policy in China is altering family roles and child rearing practices, raising concerns about the possible
harmful effects of too much attention and pampering. It has strengthened the emphasis on education

There is no history of a dual development of one type of full day program to provide care for children
of working mothers and another type of half day program to provide education for children of non
employed mothers. Education replaces physical care as the primary emphasis in this program. Class
size increases with age, ranging from 20 to 40 children. Each group typically has two teachers and a
nurse. Preschool: Serve children upper age 5. A part of the elementary school. It is a typically half day
program serving children the year prior to the 1st grade. Comparable to U.S. public kindergartens,
these classes usually place greater emphasis upon academics and use teaching methods similar to
those of the Chinese elementary classrooms. In both of those three kind of program, there is a
common problem. Those children rarely work independently or in self selected group tasks. On the
contrary, the point is on following teacher s guidance, instead of self invention. All the children will
do the same thing at the same time. For example, in a typical art class, teacher demonstrates how to
fold and twist a paper butterfly. Then she check every child doing the same step before proceed to the
next step. Painting class usually include children to copy an object of the teacher. Even if the use of
teaching toys, all children are using the same toy at the same time.

What Does Pride Mean To Me Essay
Let s say my favorite team just won the super bowl, and I have this overwhelming feeling I just can
not name. I become a parent a few years later and again that same feeling. My child learns to ride a
bike without the training wheels and there it is again that feeling. Many more instances though the
years pass where that feeling creeps up on me. That feeling is pride. Pride is any situation in life where
I feel that overwhelming sense of I did it, success in doing what was set out to do. Now pride comes in
various shapes and instance for everyone, but they can all have a common source. Some of the most
common things I and possibly others have a connection to are sports, work, people and possibly
sexual orientation. Though there are so many different possibilities or interconnecting occurrences
within these topics, that I could feel pride. Some are more prideful in one instance than another, but it
does not take away from any lesser situation either. With these only being a handful of prideful
occurrences, as there are too many to name. With football season upon us we all have out teams, most
of us being Packer fans. So we sit in front of that tv and wait for the magic of Rodgers and Nelson, or
Matthews doing what they do. I cannot help the feeling of pride and joy when they score or make that
tackle. We are happy for our boys succeeding, even more so against the Bears. I feel pride for winning
but mostly for the players to have come together as a team and

Is College Worth Essay
Rahaf Haddad
College
College started to be the direction many students take after high school. During junior year, all the
teachers start telling their student to consider college and the major that they want to pursue.
Correspondingly, the students start to take the SAT and ACT tests. In junior year many students start
to think if they are ready for college. Also, they start thinking about the major they want to enroll in if
they decide to apply for college. More questions come in mind such as, would college be suitable for
everyone? And is college worth the money the students would have to spend on tuition every semester
until they graduate? From Leonhardt perspective, college is worth even with the debt it comes with.
According to Matthews s argument, college degree is needed because it is becoming more valuable
with time. The arguments that both of Leonhardt and Matthews give prove that college is worth it and
it is a good financial decision for most of the students. Leonhardt believes that college is beneficial
and especially financially. The debt that college students go through becomes negative $500,000. After
students finish college and start working they pay their debt easily. Leonhardt mentioned Americans
with four years college degrees made 98 percent more an hour on average in 2013 than people without
a degree. This statistic shows that when students start working they can pay their debt in a wisely time
depending on their major.

Leadership And The Psychodynamic Approach
In my opinion, even though it was assumed that some people are naturally born leaders, it was also
argued that certain leadership traits can be developed through experiences. With reference to the
leadership trait questionnaire that I have done previously, one of my stronger character trait that was
reflected was empathy. Cross referencing this to the Psychodynamic approach, under the Myers
Briggs personality test, I found myself to be an INFP Introversion, intuition, feeling, perception. The
main core trait associated with those who are classified as an INFP was coincidentally empathy as
well where those under that category aim to seek harmony and authenticity in our relationship with
others. (Northouse, 2013) That is something I have to agree with as I constantly find myself trying to

decorated very fancy and elaborate. The music that was played that night was Jazz. The group had 4

The song was called Funk Indeed Free . The texture to this song was very soft. Not all the instruments
were competing with each other like the last song. The song had some form to it aside from the
trumpet. The trumpet was very wild and had many different ranges. The melody was the same
throughout the song aside from the trumpet as well. There was a steady flow throughout the whole
song. The dynamic of the song was very calm and quiet aside from the trumpet. I didn t appreciate that
because it was so distracting. The tempo was at a mild pace. Not all the instruments were played
during this song. It was only 2 instruments played at a time during the whole time. The next song on
the playlist was called Everything Happens To Me . The texture to this was very soft as well. The
instruments were playing off each other but it was still a freestyle type of song. I think jazz is
generally played like freestyle. There was no melody to this song. The rhythm was not existent as
well. It was more of a free flowing song. This song had a very quiet dynamic. It sounded very
romantic like something out of a movie. The tempo of the song was very slow and mild but the
trumpet was going very fast. The cello and the drums had a portion of the song where they fed off
each other s energy and the trumpet was doing its own thing. The last song on the set list was called
Talk About It . The texture was very thick because all the instruments were playing over

Cell Theory
1. Cell Theory is an explanation that says everything is made of cells. It continues on to say that those
cells came from preexisting cells. Cell Theory is a theory because it is a frame worked explanation of
an observation made by many biologists like Anar Van Leeuwenhoek. Van Leeuwenoek studied plant
stems, pond water, and gathered a conclusion that generally, all of those things are made of cells.
Other biologists like Louis Pasteur added onto this idea that all organisms are composed of cells. A
theory is also composed of two components; a sequence of patterns in the world and the thing or
catalyst that is responsible for the pattern. The sequence of the pattern in Cell theory is that every
organism in the world are made up of cells. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

3. A salt crystal dropped into a beaker of water becomes smaller and eventually seems to disappear.
However, the same salt crystal remains intact at the bottom of a beaker of octane because Sodium
Chloride is ionic and would get attracted to the water. The octane is hydrophobic and has nothing for
the salt crystal to bond with. The water is polar and hydrophobic, which gives the salt the ability for
the oxygen atoms in the water to be attracted to the Sodium ion, and the hydrogen atoms to the
chloride ion.
4. Molecules with carbon carbon bonds have more potential energy and lower entropy than carbon
dioxide because the carbon to carbon bonds are held together loosely. Because the carbon to carbon
bonds are held loosely together, the bond has low entropy, high potential energy, and more usable
energy. The Carbon dioxide is held tightly together, has high entropy, and will have low potential
energy because the charges will be attracted to the oxygen. This results in the carbon dioxide to have

Helen Keller Contribution
The Miracle Worker was published in 1959 , but is still a popular play, movie, and book today. The
play was originally written by William Gibson, and is a highlight of the young life of Helen Keller,
and how Anne Sullivan affected her for the better. Helen barely into her life, became deaf as well as
blind, and was a wreck for it, but only until Anne Sullivan arrived. Deafness as well as blindness was
not handled as well as it is today in the 1800 s, so the Keller s and even Annie too at first did not know
what to do with Helen. This was not easy job for Sullivan, but her perseverance allowed for success
with Helen in the end. Perseverance is a vital component of the completion of one s goals, whether it

knowledge was locked away, but this was not a one sided effort. Helen tried, and tried, and tried, but
she could not comprehend the world around her. This frustrated her and Annie both, but with the

Cuban Immigration Policy
My initial reaction is shock, I had no idea about the Cuban immigration policy. Irritation sets in at the
injustice of it, immigrants of all races leave their countries to pursue better lives. The process that any
immigrant is subjected too should be equal to Cubans as well, equal opportunity for entry is fair.
However, this policy allows Cubans to bypass the entire process, regardless of race its unfair to allow
one race and not the other. By granting automatic legal amnesty within hours of them entering the
U.S. can lead to resentment from other races. Segregated immigration is an issue that affects the
general public of the U.S., but its not discussed. Why?
Central Americans are becoming more aware of their situation when immigrating to a new country.
The problem isn t Cubans but the immigration system itself is flawed. Allowing Cubans, a free ...

In 2014 central immigration spiked due to hostile environments in their country. Seeking refugee, they
came to the U.S. Land of the free . Only to be questioned, not admitted, and finding more problems
then they left their own country with. Why is the government favoring a race for entry to the country?
The problem is Cubans have the luxury of walking in to the U.S. while central Americans can only
dream. Citizens of Central America have compromised safety issues, if you don t feel safe in your own
home, and you would rather leave all you have ever known, that s a real problem. Cubans influence
immigration as an idea for central Americans, hope. It trickles down Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua,
Costa Rica, all the way to panama. Everywhere in between gets this notion of a better tomorrow that
never comes. Meanwhile Cubans walk right on in, and central Americans are suddenly creating an

The Effects Of Alcoholism On Collegiate Athletic Performance
The Negative Effects of Alcoholism on Collegiate Athletic Performance
According to research and statistics, alcohol is the number one drug used by college students. Most
individuals do not label alcohol as a drug due to the way it is consumed, but when considering the
negative side effects that accompany alcohol, the comparison of alcohol to drugs may not be that far
of a stretch. Alcohol can not only be harmful to an individual s external health but also their internal
health as well. Consumption of alcohol over a long period of time may result in negative side effects
to your heart, liver, pancreas, immune system, and ultimately if enough is consumed may result in
cancer. This addicting, yet dangerous drug is best known for its ability ... Show more content on

On the surface, alcohol may seem harmless and a normal part of the college experience, however
research suggests that alcohol and athleticism do not in fact go hand in hand. Excessive alcohol use
among college students is widely recognized as a serious public health problem in the United States. A
survey was conducted at a large state university in the Northeastern United States and data was
collected on 109 intercollegiate athletes during the competitive season and 119 during the off season.
Participants were asked to estimate the amount of alcohol consumption levels of 4 different groups of
individuals; closest athlete friend, closest non athlete friend, typical athlete, and typical non athlete.
Results of both in season and off season indicated that the athletes reported that others consumed more
drinks per week than they did, and insights of these social averages predicted personal use. Although
the typical athlete average emerged as the strongest predictor of personal alcohol use, the relative
strength of the relationships between individual behavior and the athlete and non athlete norms varied
according to seasonal status.
There are many reasons to expect collegiate athletes to be excluded from the number of college
students who partake in heavy drinking on a regular basis. Athletes are expected to acquire optimal
health and functioning requirements in order to participate in intense training, and also

Mainstreaming Special Needs

The soaring cost of special education for disabled students has been appropriately integrated into
public schools for the common good of all students from various social classes. Special education has
had a deep histroy that has been characterized by a score of legislations that has set this form of
education and how it is administered to assimilate students with learning disabilities into standard
classrooms. In both the United Kingdom and the United States, the first account of special education
recognizes the deaf and blind students. In England the first school to cater for special education was
the Liverpool Blind School in the year 1791. In the United States, the first ever special education

In spite of these legislations, the law was not acted upon or rather implemented immediately. Still, it
took time for compulsory education for all to be actualized (Kesha 120). The next stage in the
development of special education was segregatioin that sought to iinvolve student with disabilities in
the same learning instutions as all other students, but in in isolate classrooms. However, this changed
upon the enactment of the all handicapped Children Act of 1975, which introduced mainstreaming.
This had a postive implication in that handicapped chidren were included and encouregaed to
particpate in regualr classrooms hence the period of integration dawned. This was a remarkable
achievement and the Act pertaining to education for the handicapped was amended to include six new
critical elements in fostering special education. These elements were: parental participation in the
special education process, legititmate process to enforece accountability, Individualized Education
Programs (IEPs) to formulate a custom program for each student, Least Restrictive Environment
(LRE) that allowed the disabled children in regular classrooms as much as possible, A program to find
and assess disabled children in a fair manner, free and approprioate public education (FAPE) for all

SUMMARY As part of the Havayah city wide project, this year your children learned how to frame
sacred time, people, and places within the framework of how their secular life intertwines with their
Jewish life. They found their own meaning, created individual projects as well as group projects. The
students determined how they wanted to learn and rose to the occasion as their final results showed.
As a class we also discussed Shabbat, Hanukkah, and Passover. This was an amazing year of learning
for me. Incredible teamwork and serious learning done by the students. Marley Abramson Marley is a
gem. She is a serious student who always manages to participate in projects in a reserved and mature

General Electric s ( Ge ) Ceo
1. Jeff Immelt, General Electric s (GE) CEO as of September 7th 2001, has made tremendous
improvements to the organizations strategy in terms of the firm strategy interface and the environment
strategy interface. The foundation had been set by the near legendary CEO Jack Welch, his
predecessor who had been the CEO for 20 years and built GE into a highly disciplined, extremely
efficient machine that delivered consistent growth in sales and earnings not only through effective
operations management that resulted in organic growth (much of it productivity driven) of 5%
annually, but also through a continuous stream of timely acquisitions and clever deal making .
Unfortunately, Immelt was faced with numerous difficulties as problem after ... Show more content on

Although Welch s strategy was successful during his time as CEO, Immelt became conscious of how
impossible it would be to continue to provide that level of performance by merely continuing upon the
same strategy. Therefore Immelt decided that a change to the firm s strategy would be necessary for
the continual growth of GE.
b. Immelt disagreed with applying the term conglomerate as he preferred to view it as a well
integrated, diversified company that had outstanding financial disciplines, practiced sharing top talent,
and possessed unyielding integrity. Having committed to the assets, resources and capabilities
currently at his disposal, he shared his vision of moving into the market of big, fundamental high
technology infrastructure industries where he believed GE would have a competitive advantage due to
its size, and the fact that it could dominate that market because of the high barriers to entry that would
be involved.
c. Immelt believed that despite the need for a shift in strategy, he would build upon the firm s core
elements that have resulted in such a strong success such as the portfolio of strong businesses, bound
through a set of companywide strategic initiatives and managed by great people in a culture that was
performance driven and adaptive. Immelt understood the importance of this key constituent as it
provided the competitive advantage that is difficult

Moral Ambiguity
Moral Ambiguity in A Farewell to Arms Throughout history, people have been categorized as either
evil or good. However, this rigid classification oftentimes does not fully apply to the nuances of
human character. In literature, these characters with both good and bad traits are known as morally
ambiguous characters. Similarly, In Ernest Hemingway s WWI Novel, A Farewell To Arms, the main
character, Frederic Henry, can be seen as morally ambiguous through the contrasting nature of his
violence and tenderness, as well as his down to earth realism. Together, these elements of ambiguity
play an important role in the novel by allowing the reader to fully understand the theme. First,
Frederic Henry s moral ambiguity is portrayed through the conflicting nature of his violence during
his service in the Italian army and tenderness towards his love interest, Catherine. After months of
unsuccessful battle on the northern Italian front, the Italians retreat, with Henry observing that There
were many trucks too and some carts going through on other streets and converging on the main
road... the troops, the motor trucks, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the novel, Henry s curt analysis and lack of purely good or evil morals allows him to
evaluate the war in a realistic way, without patriotism clouding his judgement of it. For example, as
previously mentioned, Henry talks about war with Gino, saying, Abstract words such as glory, honor,
courage, or hallow were obscene beside the names of rivers, the numbers of regiments and the dates
(165). Through this unbiased analysis, the reader is able to see how war is not formed of great
concepts, rather, it is decided by the tangible names and numbers of towns won and men lost. Without
Henry s ambiguity, the war, and ultimately the theme, would be portrayed in a different

Being children at one point in life. People could agree that parents are a tremendous influence on the
growth and success in their children s lives. Like many; children tend to inherit skills that parents

Julia Alvarez, and A Red Palm by Gary Sato; they all display a clear perception that; children inherit
skills from their parents, it s ok to leave their view on society behind and embrace their own.

similarity is not enough to accuse the Dr. Sticklen of plagiarism. It also should be noted that both

NRG: Although the chief editor of NRG retracted Dr. Sticklen s article they described this incident as
a paragraph being paraphrased without attribution . Considering the high prestige of Nature Review
Journals among scientific community the retraction can be considered an overwhelming response to
this incident. Especially when we note that this is the first ever retracted from any of the 15 Nature
Reviews journals. However the retraction and even more drastic measures are justified when it is
considered as response to violation of confidence. Additionally, via this action, NRG sent a message to
future manuscript reviewer and authors that such misconduct of review policies is not tolerated by
NRG editors.
Other possible actions:
The case with details of action taken by NRG and Michigan State University could be sent to other

  • 2. The Kiss By Kate Chopin Essay Things and People are not always as they appear to be on the first sight that is why we have to examine them in different ways otherwise they may mislead us. That is more then true in the short story The Kiss by Kate Chopin in which she uses imagery, irony and simile to show us how deceitful a person can be. She tells us by the actions of her characters that a person should not be judged solely by his or her appearance or words because those things can be dangerously misleading. All of the characters in Chopin story play their own games and in more or less visible way try to manipulate others to achieve their own sometimes not very righteous goals, but who will eventually succeed in realizing his desires in this world of deception and ... But moments later we learn that not everything went as she wanted when Harvey tells her that he won t be meeting with her any more because he stopped kissing women; it s dangerous . Second little manipulator in the story is Mr. Harvey, the secret lover of Miss Nathalie whom we first meet when he because of supposedly not seeing Mr. Brantain sitting in the shadow, gives Nattie a passionate kiss after with shocked Brantain leaves the room and Nathalie not able to stop him becomes furious. Harvey tries to persuade her that he did not see the other man sitting there Hang me if I saw him sitting there, Nattie! but in fact he quite well knew that he is there as well as he had to know about their talks that lasted for past two weeks. And so, the kiss was a provocation as we see on Harvey face a little amusement and some defiance struggling with the confusion in his face that meant to show Brantain that Nattie is taken and to finally force her into a situation in which she would have to decide with whom does she want to be and for what she cares more, money or love. Unfortunately for him she chooses money and got married whit the man who had them thus giving Harvey no other choice then to leave her as he did not want to have an affair whit her but rather wanted to have her ... • 3. The Is The Most Valuable Asset Of All America isn t just recognized as one of the wealthiest country in the world but also a country that a lot of people look up to. Therefore it is obligated to keep up with the exceptional reputation by taking care of the citizens of United States through providing free adequate health care to its people. Health is the most valuable asset of all. A lot of Americans today are suffering from illnesses that can be easily treated yet they are unable to get a treatment because it is too expensive for them. Due to this reason, a lot of people tend to avoid going for check ups or even hide their illnesses because they are afraid of the high cost that might lead them into heavy debt or bankruptcy. In addition, if every citizen has an access to free health care, they are likely to be more productive with their lifestyles which doesn t just equal to an improved society but also an improved country! The government should take a step toward changing the expensive health care system by formulating a path in which the citizens are provided with a high quality, free health care because it s not affordable, it will improve the experience of care and promote a healthy nation. Health and wealth are two very important components in our lives. However, health would be considered more essential. Life becomes tough without wealth but a life without health becomes intolerable. It is an obvious fact that health contributes more to a longer life than wealth. Sadly, there are millions of people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mesopotamian Scientific Developments And Aspects Sterling 9/24/14 Miss Laura History Mesopotamian Scientific Developments and Aspects The Mesopotamians pioneered several modern day scientific principles and tools and contributed greatly to the development of future civilizations. (3) The Mesopotamians lived in what is in and near modern day Saudi Arabia between the rivers Tigris and Euphrates. This is what lead to their name, as Mesopotamian means between two rivers in greek. Mesopotamia was a land of many different city states and cultures unified for the advancement of all in Mesopotamia. These cultural differences run very deep within the different city states of Mesopotamia, and these differences contributed heavily to the Mesopotamians scientific advances and ironically, lead to their actual unification as a single culture and civilization.(3) (2) (5) One of the most important developments that lead into this was the development of story telling and writing in ancient Mesopotamia. Writing in ancient Mesopotamia came about around 4000 B.C. and began to develop into a major cultural aspect in Mesopotamia via the development of many stories and records. This writing was imprinted on clay tablets and other clay based constructs throughout the existence of the civilization. Thousands of tablets and other Mesopotamian writings were made through chiseling or rolling shapes and hieroglyphs onto the clay tablets. Many of these tablets have been discovered in relatively good condition, allowing them to be translated and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the aggregate fair market value of the loss corporation s assets either exceeds or is less than its aggregate tax basis in those assets by an amount which is more than the lesser of 10% of the aggregate value of the assets on that date or $10 million, then special rules apply. If in the year of the transaction or a later year the corporation recognized gain on property which it owned on the transaction date, the annual limitation would be increased for that year by the amount necessary to shelter the portion of its net unrealized built in gain attributable to such property. The net unrealized built in gain is the excess of the aggregate value of all of the corporation s property on the transaction date over its aggregate tax basis in all of its property at that time. Conversely, if the corporation had built in loss, the loss would be limited the same way that the NOL would be limited. Disallowance of the Entire Carryforward. If the loss corporation does not continue its historic business during the two year period following the ownership change, the entire carryforward is disallowed. Even after the carryforward is disallowed, the built in gain can be offset by the built in losses. Purpose Test. The service can disallow a deduction or credit if (a) control of a business is acquired and (b) the principal purpose of the acquisition is to secure the deduction or credit. • 8. Communication Technology And Nonverbal Communication Technology can be positive through providing face to face live video and audio chats, but can also be detrimental when it comes to simple texting without nonverbal messages. Facetime has been able to provide expressions and voice cues that help bring meaning to verbal messages. Nonverbal communication is hard to fake and is more trustable. While, texting can be detrimental to relationships because the meanings of words are skewed since they don t have nonverbal cues to give context and meaning to them. The relationships that is most influenced by technology is my friends at Uconn because we spend so much time together and the amount of closeness I feel with these people is no comparable to those affected only by technology because I feel a sort of closeness through maintaining a close distance to them and I have the ability to exchange vocal and facial cues. A new communication technology I believe is having a positive influence on interpersonal relationships is facetime. This is because facetime allows nonverbal communication to happen which is one of the most important forms of communication as it plays a role in about 60% of all face to face conversations. For example, me and my best friend would communicate about our daily troubles and when we wanted to talk about them we would use facetime to talk. We thought this would be beneficial to our important friendship because through facetime we were able to distinguish whether the other person was feeling actual sympathy or ... • 10. The Causes of Hyperthyroidism Essay The thyroid gland is found in the front of the neck and produces two main hormones. The hormones are called thuroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronine (T3). Together these hormones regulate the body s metabolism by increasing energy use in cells, regulate growth and development, help to maintain body temperature and aid in oxygen consumption. These two hormones are regulated by hormones produced by the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. The hypothalamus senses changes in body s metabolic rate and releases a hormone known as thyropin releasing hormone (TRH). This hormone then flows through connecting vessels to the pituitary gland which signals it to release another hormone. This hormone is known as thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). TSH then makes ... This disease is characterized as an autoimmune disorder. This means that the body makes antibodies known as thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin that bind and over activate the production of thyroid hormones [3]. So in essence the antibody mimics the thyroid stimulating hormone and when the negative feedback loop is in affect the antibody still binds to the thyroid and T3 and T4 are over produced [2]. Thyroid nodules are lumps in the thyroid often called adenomas. These adenomas are quite common affecting around seven percent our countries population. These lumps on the thyroid can become very active and thus produce a large amount of thyroid hormone. In some cases hyperthyroidism is brought on by consuming too much medication that treats an underactive thyroid. There are many causes of hyperthyroidism, but the symptoms of hyperthyroidism are the same no matter what causes the over expression of thyroid hormones. The main symptoms of hyperthyroidism are fatigue, shortness of breath, weak muscles, anxiety, difficulty sleeping and heart palpitations. Interestingly, even with an increase in appetite the patient will have weight loss. There are many factors that may increase the risk of acquiring hyperthyroidism. • 11. Gross Domestic Product ( Gdp ) Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is a description of a nation s production levels for a period of time, as well as a measurement of economic viability. It is calculated by adding the consumption, investments, governmental outlays, and net exports of a nation in either one year or a quarter. The different components of GDP are at differing levels in each nation. China and Germany, for example, have substantial net exports, and Singapore comparatively relies much more on government outlays to grow its economy. Although the latter uses more governmental outlays than most nations, all nations to some degree make attempts to alleviate economic downturns, as well as to maximize upward movement. Though there must be concern for issues such as the notorious crowding out effect, government activity is often the catalyst to dramatic changes in the economy. The previous example of China as an exporter is true, however it must be noted that it too relies heavily on government expenditures to create a stable economy that has the financial infrastructure to grow. As a matter of fact, all the Economic Tiger nations had to use government planning to change their course from being impoverished nations, to being financial hubs with much room for opportunity in the work force. Japan alone, would not have become the first industrialized nation without its use of public loans and active national bank. Since understanding a government s ability to spend is important for an economy, it is critical to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Strengths (company s internal factors from resources and capabilities) Bass Pro Shops have a competitive advantage, which in the text is defined as a firm has a marketing mix that the target market sees as better than a competitor s mix (Perreault et al, 2011 p. 47). With the economy in a downturn it makes it a lot more difficult for people to justify spending the money on things that they really do not need. And since these stores are not everywhere you go it causes people to travel long distances in order to visit, which means they have to spend additional money on fuel to get there. The gas prices have been increasing to amounts that have put a damper on a lot of peoples travel plans. With all of the economic problems some customers are going to go somewhere that is more local and better in their price range. In addition, Bass Pro Shops face threats from traditional and specialty sporting stores, mass merchandisers, and catalog and Internet based retailers. These merchandise providers are everywhere and the 50 Bass Pro Shops that are currently in the United States and Canada can be quite a distance for the outdoor enthusiast that already knows what he or she may need. Furthermore, the consumer who enters a store with the intention to only touch and / or play with an item that he or she ultimately plans to purchase online threatens all retail stores. We would recommend that Bass Pro Shops continue to make their stores unique; however, making a few smaller stores with some of the same features, lower prices, and closer to large shopping centers would allow customers to experience the environment, which may entice them to visit the larger stores. Since 1979, the one child policy has been in effect for 30 years in China. The first generation of single child are now growing into childbearing age. The one child policy in China is altering family roles and child rearing practices, raising concerns about the possible harmful effects of too much attention and pampering. Comparable to U.S. public kindergartens, these classes usually place greater emphasis upon academics and use teaching methods similar to those of the Chinese elementary classrooms. In both of those three kind of program, there is a common problem. Those children rarely work independently or in self selected group tasks. On the contrary, the point is on following teacher s guidance, instead of self invention. All the children will do the same thing at the same time. For example, in a typical art class, teacher demonstrates how to fold and twist a paper butterfly. Then she check every child doing the same step before proceed to the next step. • 14. What Does Pride Mean To Me Essay Let s say my favorite team just won the super bowl, and I have this overwhelming feeling I just can not name. I become a parent a few years later and again that same feeling. My child learns to ride a bike without the training wheels and there it is again that feeling. Many more instances though the years pass where that feeling creeps up on me. That feeling is pride. Pride is any situation in life where I feel that overwhelming sense of I did it, success in doing what was set out to do. Now pride comes in various shapes and instance for everyone, but they can all have a common source. Some of the most common things I and possibly others have a connection to are sports, work, people and possibly sexual orientation. Though there are so many different possibilities or interconnecting occurrences within these topics, that I could feel pride. Some are more prideful in one instance than another, but it does not take away from any lesser situation either. With these only being a handful of prideful occurrences, as there are too many to name. With football season upon us we all have out teams, most of us being Packer fans. So we sit in front of that tv and wait for the magic of Rodgers and Nelson, or Matthews doing what they do. I cannot help the feeling of pride and joy when they score or make that tackle. During junior year, all the teachers start telling their student to consider college and the major that they want to pursue. Correspondingly, the students start to take the SAT and ACT tests. In junior year many students start to think if they are ready for college. Also, they start thinking about the major they want to enroll in if they decide to apply for college. More questions come in mind such as, would college be suitable for everyone? And is college worth the money the students would have to spend on tuition every semester until they graduate? From Leonhardt perspective, college is worth even with the debt it comes with. According to Matthews s argument, college degree is needed because it is becoming more valuable with time. The arguments that both of Leonhardt and Matthews give prove that college is worth it and it is a good financial decision for most of the students. Leonhardt believes that college is beneficial and especially financially. The debt that college students go through becomes negative $500,000. After students finish college and start working they pay their debt easily. Leonhardt mentioned Americans with four years college degrees made 98 percent more an hour on average in 2013 than people without a degree. This statistic shows that when students start working they can pay their debt in a wisely time depending on their major. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the same salt crystal remains intact at the bottom of a beaker of octane because Sodium Chloride is ionic and would get attracted to the water.
