The Rule Of Law And The Law Of The Land
This was a fun topic to research. I had a rough time determining if I should define the RULE of
LAW or look at its history and how it was developed through our constitution to the laws that
govern us today. After all the supremacy clause in our Constitution says This Constitution, and the
Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or
which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the
Land. After going to many websites researching a definition that I could use to start I quickly
discovered that the RULE OF LAW meant something different to each of the authors of the
websites and while they were all meaningful none of them encompassed what I predetermined it
should be until I reached the one definition that really jumped out at me is: Rule of law refers to an
end state in which all individuals and institutions, public and private, and the state itself are held
accountable to the law, which is supreme. Laws must be consistent with international human rights
norms and standards, legally certain, legally transparent, drafted with procedural transparency, and
publicly promulgated. This end state requires equal enforcement and equality before the law,
independent adjudication of the law, fairness in the application of the law, and avoidance of
arbitrariness. Access to justice the ability of people to seek and obtain a remedy through informal

Solving the Problem: The nurse managers made a list of the issues that were occurring and knew
they needed to figure out a way to ease the tension and anxiety nurses were having. They brought
it up at a meeting with the directors and higher authority staff. For the pharmacology and dosage
exam, staff was given a refresher course as well as a study guide to go over which helped them
remember the key formulas and drugs Montefiore required to know. Nurses from Montefiore in the
Bronx came to give an orientation on nursing procedures, polices and ways to document the charts.
This helped the nurses feel a sense of comfort before starting the first day under new management.
Stakeholders:
The stakeholders that were apart of this change was the CEO of both Sound Shore and Montefiore

the community (patients).

Margaret Atwood Handmaid Quotes
1. On page 26, Margaret Atwood first mentions the names of other Handmaids. This is from the
quote: Offwayne. No. Ofwarren. What jumped out at me here was how all of the mentioned
handmaids seem to have their names beginning with Of . First of all, the letter O looks like a
womb or an egg. This possibly hints at their already evident role in society to procreate and have
children for the commanders. But, if the reader goes a step further, it is evident all the handmaids
have names that begin with Of . This alludes to the principle that the handmaids belong to their
commanders, and that they have to do their duty, and nothing more. They are simply owned, like
tools. The society went so far as to even include this ownership in their names.... Show more content

There are many instances in the novel, where Offred pauses in the middle of her story and in a
way complains to the audience about how hard it is to tell this story. For example: It s also a
story I m telling, in my head, as I go along. Tell, rather than write, because I have nothing to write
with and writing is in any case forbidden. But if it s a story, even in my head ... But it s not good,
because I know you can t. (39 40) On numerous occasions, Offred tells the reader that it is easier
to tell if you think that it is just a story, and never happened to her for real. These bits of emotion
make us sympathetic for the protagonist, and make the reader more deeply believe what she is
telling us. In addition, such quotes offer an explanation to why the protagonist sometimes randomly
switches topics, and why she tells us her story in such a short and choppy manner. Atwood does
this to show that Offred s emotions are seeping through, that she is a human just like us. This
enables the reader to better connect to the story. Atwood simply does this to make the story more
believable by including these details of completely normal human emotions when telling a hard
story. This enables the reader to better compare the novel s dystopian society with reality, thus
making any messages Atwood is trying to convey more

this can act like one of the dangers for Burberry to work in china. It might be contended that part of

Social and Culture:
Socio culture factors speak to the society of the general public that an association works inside.
They may incorporate demographics, age conveyance, populace development rates, level of
training, appropriation of riches and social classes, living conditions and lifestyle. (Worthington and
Britton, 2006)
With the change of living principles and the higher quest for material, more individuals in China
started to purchase extravagance for vanity (China hands, 2014). Extravagance is seen as an image
of societal position, and individuals want to buy them for fulfilling their own particular vanity. This
is a utilitarian age.
Regarding social culture elements, the society is not the same all through the entire nation; the west
has a tendency to gain 2.26 times more than specialists in the west of the nation. Thusly areas of the
organization s stores would be the key. (Grant, 2008)

Socioeconomic Status
If I could go to work and teach music and only have to worry about teaching music to a classroom
of students that are ready to learn, what a job that would be! (Charles Moorer Jr.). Socioeconomic
status determines a number of things that we consider quite valuable to our overall make up as
human beings. These things are to include the type/quality of educationone receives, overall income
and occupation. All of these are common things that we deal with regularly. Therefore, how does
this affect musical development as well as the teaching of music? Society is affected tremendously
by our socioeconomic status. When dealing with the low end of this status, it s commonly
associated with lower quality education, poor health as well as poverty.... Show more content on

Research suggests that all students should receive the same privileges as well as overall self
development no matter what their socioeconomic status background may be. Is this the case
though? No. It has been proven how the lower socioeconomic status students tend to receive the
lower end of masses. These masses include books, facilities, administration, and even teachers.
So is this a product of the richer getting richer and the poorer are getting poorer ? We must
always remember that Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs is an essential element when dealing with
any form of education, especially music education and its development. Maslow s Hierarchy of
needs includes physiological, safety, social, esteem, and self actualization. Students who s needs
aren t met properly are extremely tough to instruct during teaching. Unless those needs are met,
students will not commit to achieving musically or even academically because of their lack of a
solid foundation. It is my desire to provide all students, no matter what their socioeconomic status
background or class may be with a positive and enlightening music education. Through this
education they will develop many musical skills year in and year out. I am aware of the
challenges that this may bring, but I am well prepared for the

Among the 16 types I categorized under the personality ENTP: Extraverted, iNtuitive, Thinking,
Perceiving. ENTPs are usually verbally as well as cerebrally quick, and generally love to argue both
for its own sake, and to show off their debating skills. This is something that could be changed in a
leadership environment. ENTPs tend to have a perverse sense of humor as well, and enjoy
playing devil s advocate. This sometimes confuses, even angers, those who don t understand or
accept the concept of argument as a sport. ENTPs are basically optimists, but in spite of this
(perhaps because of it?), they can become petulant about small setbacks and inconveniences.
(Major setbacks they regard as challenges, and tackle with determination.) ENTPs have little
patience with those they consider wrongheaded or unintelligent, and show little restraint in
demonstrating this. In general, however, they are genial, even charming, when not being harassed
by life. ENTPs may sometimes give the impression of being largely oblivious to the rest of
humanity except as an audience: good, bad, or potential. In general, this is unfair but it can be
difficult to get an ENTP s attention when they re not immediately aware of you, especially for an

The Body Ritual Of The Nacirema Summary
The Nacirema are a contradictory and private society. Horace Miner, a sociologist, describes
them as society that ritualize and routinize their bodily functions. However, the Nacirema is
actually a representation of the American society. This is evident in the name Nacirema which is
American spelled backwards. Not only that, but Miner states that the Nacirema idolize
Notgnihsaw, who founded the Nacirema s nation and also chopped down a cheery tree who is
actually George Washington spelled backwards. Furthermore, it is safe to say that Miller is
actually conducting his study on the American Society. In Miner s essay The Body Rituals of
the Nacirema , he talks about American Society and their obsession with cleanliness and the up
keeping of the human body. That people would go so far as to participate in things they do not
like or find uncomfortable to preserve this custom. He speaks from the point of view of an
outsider who has never heard of the name Nacirema, and because of this, his readers are able to

participate in many rituals to obtain their mate and or prove to be a desirable mate themselves, such

The Adoption Of Cloud Based Accounting Information System

The aim of this report is to critically analyze the adoption of cloud based accounting information
system (AIS) in business organizations and also its challenges and benefits of cloud based
environment. Cloud accounting (SAASU 20124, para 3) is also called online accounting , which
provides the same service as accounting software and data is securely stored on servers as known
as the cloud. According to Emma Watkins (Demand Media 2014, para 1), cloud accounting is the
use of computer hardware and software applications delivered as a service over the Internet. It

Cloud computing is an on demand service which has achieved great demand in corporate data
centers. The cloud facilitate the data center to work as the Internet and computing resources to be
promoted and shared as virtual resources in a secure and extensible manner (X). Most small
business owners shifted to use the new technological trend by adopt cloud based information
system (SMH).
According to Wang et al. (2008, p. 3), A computing cloud is a set of network enabled service,
providing scalable, QoS guaranteed , normally personalized inexpensive computing infrastructure
on demand, which could be accessed in a simple and pervasive way .
2.2 Functional aspects of cloud computing
Conceptually, users acquire computing platforms or IT infrastructures from computing Clouds and
then run their applications inside. Therefore, computing Clouds render users with services to access
hardware, software and data resources, thereafter an integrated computing platform as a service, in a
transparent way:
HaaS: Hardware as a Service
Hardware as a Service was coined possibly in 2006. As a result of drastic improvement in hardware
virtualization, users could buy IT hardware, or even a complete data center, as a pay as you go

Pluralism And The Problem Of Religious Diversity
There exists a vast number of religions in the world that have their own belief systems and
populations of followers that, naturally, gives result to a wide variety of religious diversity.
Logically, the problem with this religious diversity is that it is hard to see how they could all be
true at any rate. In response to this problem, two solutions have been proposed: pluralism and
exclusivism. Pluralism makes a claim that all of the religions are true in their own way where
exclusivism, on the other hand, makes the claim that only one religionis true in its beliefs. I will be
discussing the differences between exclusivism and pluralism in depth as responses to the problem
of religious diversity as well as comparing and contrasting Christianity and Hinduism to make a
case for why exclusivism is the correct solution.
The first solution to the problem, pluralism, which is advocated by John Hick, offers that,
fundamentally, deep down, all of the religions are the same and so are all true in their own way.
Hick, in his work titled Who or What is God?, believes that the concept of God can be described
as anthropomorphic. That is, as Hick puts it, God is a being like ourselves in the fundamental
respect that we are both God and ourselves persons. But whereas we are finite, created, dependent
persons, God is an infinite, eternal, uncreated and omnipotent Person. (Hick). He paints a picture of
who God is by saying that God s inner nature is beyond the range of our human

Evaluation Plan For Project Development And Implementation
An evaluation plan is one of the most critical elements of a project because it helps to measure the
project s success. In addition, the evaluation plan provides information that allows for adjustments
/improvements during project development and implementation. According to Howlett, et. al., there
are four types of evaluations (Benchmark Evaluation, Formative Evaluation, Summative Evaluation
and Impact or Outcome Evaluation.) My organization has opted to utilize the Benchmark
Evaluation type. Howlett, et. al., describes the Benchmark Evaluation as follows, before you begin
your work, you must document the current situation so that measurements taken during and after
project implementation can be compared to the starting point. (Baseline) (p.124) There are,
however; some aspects of the other Evaluation types that can be beneficial. For example, the
Formative Evaluation allows for collecting continuous feedback from participants in the program,
which will enable the program to be revised, if needed. The Summative Evaluation allows for
collecting data on the impact of a program after a year of operation in the community. Lastly, the
Impact or Outcome Evaluation type evaluates what has changed with individuals, groups, the
community and/or the knowledge base as a result of the project. The Benchmark Evaluation, which
we have chosen as our primary evaluation tool, will provide data that can be used to assess the larger

Elie Wiesel Indifference
Indifference is a blurred line between light and darkness. Indifference is dangerous. Indifference
is seductive. Indifference is unnatural. Indifference is tempting. Indifference is careless.
Indifference is not a beginning, it is an end. The Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel in his speech,
The Perils of Indifference, claims that indifference has multiple hazards. He supports his claim by
first comparing indifference or lack of interest to it being more dangerous than anger and hatred,
then comparing the meaning of indifference to not only a sin, but to a punishment. Wiesel s
purpose is to define indifference in order for us to be aware of its effects so that we can do
something about it. He creates a serious, thankful,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, the Rwandan genocide which happened in 1990, 54 years after the Holocaust,
approximately murdered 800,000 people in 100 days. The genocide all started because the
president at this time was a Hutu and was shot down from his airplane. As a result, the group Hutu
thought that the other group Tutsi had planned it all out. To clarify, the Hutu group was angry with
the Tutsi, which caused violence. The United States decide not to get involved because they didn t
want any more problems. As a matter of fact, Wiesel had thought that the American army decided
not to get involved as well as he stated in paragraph 17. In other words when Wiesel was in the
concentration camps, he thought that the American army had decided not to intervene with Hitler
and his men.
Ultimately, Elie Wieselis an extraordinary human being. Why did Elie Wiesel decide to write his
life changing speech you might ask. Wiesel decide to come up with is speech because he wanted
to illustrate the dangers of indifference using personal experiences and historical examples. He
wanted us to learn why indifference is so inhumane. He wanted us to know that there are other
genocides going on and that the century/society of today should not commit these same mistakes.

Poetry from other Cultures
Question 2
Culture means the beliefs, traditions, and customs of people within a society. Fundamental aspects
of a culture are faith, values, and history. People that share a culture also share its beliefs and ways
of life, which are different to others. Poetry is an effective way of describing and exploring a culture
, and events within it, because certain aspects can be expressed with vivid descriptions, and
imagery that would be unsuitable in other types of text. Some cultures have also used poetry as a
form of storytelling, describing events that happened to their ancestors, or even themselves. Poems

Water is described as being sacred and is referred to as a sudden rush of fortune when the pipe
bursts, showering the residents with it s contents. The poem is also related to religion, with
references to a kindly god and the blessing that it brings, and it is also based on poverty, community,
and celebration. The poem opens with a strong statement in the first line. The skin cracks like a
pod . This uses a simile to describes the hard, dirty, dusty ground cracking open from lack of
water, by comparing it to the very different image of a ripe, luscious green pea pod splitting open
to reveal its moist, juicy contents. Onomatopoeia is used in crack to emphasise the meaning and
make the descriptions seem real. The second line, There is never enough water tells the reader
that it is obviously in a place of poverty, or where the weather is always very hot. The second
stanza has a very different tone to the direct, strong opening. It is soft, and gentle and describes
the small splash of water which is so rare to the town and community within it. The metaphor in
lines 4 6 describes the water s echo in a tin mug as sounding like the voice of a kindly god , this
helps the reader to visualise small drops of water splashing into a mug, producing a sound

Ouija Boards Exorcism
On a gloomy Tuesday night, a group of teenagers from George Mason University circled around an
Ouija board to find out what their final grade from a psychology class, Mystery, Madness, and
Murder would be. Soon after, the planchette moved, allowing them to communicate with evil spirits
from another dimension. Unfortunately, this communication led them into learning not only their
final grade, but also into being haunted by an evil spirit until the end of their lives. This,
surprisingly, is a very common practice in the United States. Even the International Exorcists
Association (AIE) states that the usage of Ouija boards increased the exorcism practices within the
U.S. (cite). According to a recent poll on LiveScience, 65% of Americans believe... Show more

According to Patricia Martinelli, in the late 19th century, an interest in spiritualism was strong
both in the United States and Europe as people wondered what happened to those who had died
(Martinelli, 2009). Considering that the average human life span in that era, its not a surprise
that people tried to communicate with dead through several ways. Therefore, instead of being
perceived as outside the social norms, talking to dead was pretty common in the 19th century,
which encouraged people to search for new ways of contacting the dead. Furthermore, Ouija
boards have their roots under this branch of Spiritualism, which is a movement that began in the
United States in the late 1840s, and was led by mediums, who claimed to be intermediaries
between the living and the dead (McCarthy, 2014). In the 1880s, some curiosity seekers used
homemade talking boards to divine answers from spirits whom they assumed to be friendly
(Martinelli, 2009). These types of talking boards became very popular, and in 1890, Elijah Bond,
Charles Kennard and William H.A. Maupin filed the first patent for a game they called the Ouija
board, which looked and operated much like the talking boards used among; the patent was granted

Analyzing Sebastian Arredondo s Performance
This is a critique of Sebastian Arredondo s performance on the evening of Monday November 28,
2016 which took place in Recital Hall in Merrill Hall of the Jacob s School of Music. Arredondo
performed three pieces. His first piece was Domenico Scarlatti s Sonata in A Major, K.208 followed
by his Sonata in D Major, K.492. His next piece was Maurice Ravels Valses nobles et sentimentales
(1911) which contains 8 movements; Modere Tres franc, Assez lent, Modere, Assez anime, Presque
lent, Vif, Moins vif, and Epilogue: Lent. The last piece Arredondo performed was Franz Liszts
Sonata in B Minor, S.178. Scarlatti lived from 1685 1757 and the majority of his pieces were
published after his death. Maurice Raval lived from 1875 1937 and his piece Valses nobles et
sentimentales was published for pianoin 1911. Franz Liszt lived from 1811 1886 and his Sonata in
B Minor, S.178 was published in 1854.

My main problems were with things out of his control. I found myself frustrated and annoyed by
the audience who for the majority of the performance either left while he was in the middle of
the piece or entered the auditorium during a song. To make matters worse, it was pouring
outside so at one point in Liszt s Sonata in B Minor, it was a really quiet part of the piece and one
person entered and his shoes squeaked with every step he took. And he didn t even just take a
seat in the back row, he walked about five rows in before he took a seat. I felt bad for Arredondo
but he handled it like a pro because he didn t let it phase him. Another aspect of the performance,
I didn t particular care for is how after every piece, the performer will leave the stage and then
come back out. I understand why they do it and that it s tradition but I found it a little strange. The
performance part however, I really didn t have any complaints. I was entertained and he held my

Chapter1 Basic introduction 1.1Introduction Nowadays, in globalization era there are always the
foundation of the new technologies features every year. Automatic temperature control system
become the most popular features which rapidly gaining its popularity due to its importance to
certain applications. This system utilizes in a room that lack of air conditioning system such as in
room. The system is designed that is supposed to monitor the temperature inside a room. The
automatic system required to control the temperature within the room is measured by using a
temperature sensor. When the current temperature is below the lower limit of the desired if it is in
the first upper limit 26В°c to 30В°c, the room is cooled using a fan. When the current temperature
is within the desired range, no control action is needed. The current temperature of the room must
be continuously displayed on the LCD. 1.2 motivation Seeing latest trends and speed of
progression the Arduino field is making, we are inclined to take a project related to room
temperature controller using Arduino. 1.3 objectives To control the temperature of room using fan
and heater. 1.4 What is digital temperature controller? Digital temperature controller is a system
which will regulate temperature of certain area by turning on off heating and cooling devices
according to external temperature. It can be connected to fan, heater, and ac. These devices will be
turned on and off according to the requirement. Auto

Throughout history religion has played an important role influencing various societies. Religious
beliefs have been embedded in legal systems, social status, economics, sexuality and politics in
ancient and modern societies. This concept is applicable to Ancient Athens. The Greek religion
consisted of various Gods and Goddesses that represented different elements of Greek life. The
practice of various gods or polytheism is ta partria. The religionof Greeks differs drastically from
Western forms. In modern Western communities religion and culture exists in separate spheres;

Athenians, how the dead were handled, and the sacred ground of burial site. When families had
property their deceased members were buried on their property. Customs prevent burial sites from

approach to burial sites divulges the different facets of Athenian religion. Athenians did believe in
burying their dead and their burials sites were privatized. In the case, one of the arguments claims

global commerce. The use of spices in food, cosmetics, and embalming can be traced back to
ancient Egyptians around 3000 B.C. In the course of time, Spices demand increased and trade
were spread out from Africa and Asia to the Middle East, Mediterranean and Europe. The influence
of spicetrade was able to determine the rise and fall of nations based on each country s trading
position. In March 1602, the World s first publicly traded company best known as United East
India Company was created as a result of essence and expansion of the spice trade. After that, the
spice business continued to grow in the 20th century and by 2001 there were over 150 spice
manufactures in the United States.

Michelle Obama: A Charismatic Leader?

obama a charismatic l/ By theoretical definition charismatic leadership is, A leadership theory that
states that followers make attributions of heroic or extraordinary leadership abilities when they
observe certain behaviors .
What is Charismatic Leadership?
Charisma has originated from Greek that means Gift . Max Weber, a sociologist, defines it as A
certain quality of an individual personality, by virtue of which he or she is set apart from ordinary
people and treated as endowed which supernatural, superhuman, or at least specifically

In order to achieve the vision, the leaders leave no stone unturned; they readily take up personal
risk, may even incur huge costs and many a times have to engage in activities that force them to
self sacrifice things to achieve the vision. These leaders take good care of their followers by
showcasing a sensitive attitude by taking into consideration perception of others abilities and
responsiveness to their needs and feelings. And lastly, these leaders have an unconventional
behavior that is perceived to be novel and something that counters the norms.
Are Charismatic Leaders Born or Made?
The answer is yes for both born as well as made. There are numerous individuals born with
leadership traits. In fact, there are studies that have proved that twins score similar on such
leadership skills even when they were raised in different households and never met.
On the other hand, personality can also be related to charismatic leadership. Such people are likely

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Parametric Approach
Parametric approach assumes that portfolio return follows a known distribution, such as normal
distribution, lognormal distribution, and etc. Standard deviation (SD) is taken as the dispersion
parameter which takes into account all observations. Any large value will affect the value of
volatility in essence SD.
The most common model employed in practice is delta normal distribution which utilizes both the
expected return and standard deviation of returns in which case, VaR can be calculated by using
SD(Пѓ):
VAR(О±%)= Ој+ПѓГ—z_О±
Limitations of parametric approach include: The need to assume a known distribution. For delta
normal method, it assumes the normality of the distribution of returns. However, most assets
exhibit skewed return distributions, and fat tails. With fat tails, the ... Show more content on

This approach cannot work appropriately for assets with nonlinear relationships, such as options.
Options do not have stable volatilities which could lead to misstated VaR.
4.3 Monte Carlo Simulation Approach
Monte Carlo simulation approach is the most powerful and flexible approach which involves
assuming a particular distribution specified by the user, using computer software to draw random
samples from the distribution and generating an enormous amount of outcomes. The selected
outcomes will naturally form a distribution, which will approximate the normal distribution. VaR is
calculated in the same way as with the delta normal approach by using the expected mean, and
volatility generated by Monte Carlo approach (Kaplan, Inc., 2014).
Disadvantages of Monte Carlo simulation approach include: It is subject to the professional
knowledge and skills of the user who will input the initial distribution. This model will base on the
subjective opinions of the user. As a result, it is impossible to construct a perfect

Substance Abuse Disorder ( Samhsa )
According to the SAMHSA (2010) report on the national survey on drug use and health almost
22.5 million people are reported to be associated with substance abuse disorder (SAMHSA,
2010). This illness was found to be very common in all age groups, both sex, and seniors. There
are several effects on these individuals and their families. Many people who suffer from substance
abuse disorders fail to acknowledge these serious consequences. First of all, no response of pain
relief can be seen with smaller doses of pain medications, as their bodies are used to high levels of
various substances at the same time. Nurses become frustrated when they try to treat and help these
patients with pain. Sometimes it is difficult to think about ethical principles when nurses have to
deal with such patients with pain and suffering.
Research has shown that there are several organizations and active advocates who are working on
pain management problems to face this public health issue. The following establishments involve:
The American Academy of Pain Medicine, Institute of Medicine, and American Pain Society and
many for profit and nonprofit organizations are also working at different level towards pain
management. Most specifically, the IOM has been devoted to studying pain and its consequences
on individuals, the healthcare system, as well as on government (IOM, 2011).

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sealed Bidding By Procurement
Procurement by public entities is guided by primary law principles of transparency, equal
treatment and non discrimination, procurement laws sets up an extensive legal framework
regarding the procurement of work, supply and service contracts. There are two main reasons for
the use of specific procedures i.e. why contracting authorities do not just negotiate or simply buy
from the closest supplier. First, it provides for more public accountability and therefore less cases
of corruption practices. Additionally, tendering procedures aim to ensure the best value for money
by making it necessary for suppliers to act highly competitive. As a result, market mechanisms will
help in facilitating the best possible practices. In situations where market mechanisms are not
effective, tender procedures might lose their effectiveness as well. If for example there is lack of
competition due to certain complexities or as a result of lower bidder interest, negotiations with
just one or two suppliers may be the most efficient manner to handle the process. Therefore, we
discuss the inherent advantages and disadvantages of sealed biddingand contracting by negotiation
as procedural frameworks for tendering.
Sealed bidding
Sealed bidding is a procurement method used when the best value is expected to result from the
selection of the lowest evaluated offer. Generally competitive sealed bidding are used to procure

Pros And Cons Of Confederate Statues
Gersh Kentzman in the New York Daily News gave the reasonable and understandable reason of
why the federate statues should be removed. He asked why there are no statues of Adolf Hitler in
Berlin. Usually, the statues are to honor people who did something good to their country; someone
who put his life in danger to save his country. Statues also are to honor people s service to the
country. The Confederate statues are for people who divided the country and separated citizens
according to their skin colors or their social classes. These confederate statues and monuments
should be removed because those people did not do anything to build the country. The Confederate
statues can easily remind the victims of civil war or slavery what they went through and how they
were treated. Thus causes conflicts between them and those who made them went through what
they went through. Mayor Landrew, who removed the statueof General Robert E. Leein South
Carolina, said these statues... are not just innocent remembrances of a benign history. These
monuments purposefully celebrate a fictional, sanite confederacy ignoring the death, ignoring the
enslavement... The Confederate monuments and statues are just like a bad memory; nobody wants
to keep remembering it; so why the U.S. should keep those bad men statues? The federate statues

thought to be very deadly. People avoided them at all cost because they thought these fruits could

tomatoes from their diets, it was observed that people were still being killed by what people

Many of the arguments that are opposed to medical marijuana consist of ill advised comments that
have not been properly researched. One objection is that tetrahydrocannabinol, a chemical found in
marijuana, is the chemical that makes people high . It is true that this chemical has some unwanted
side effects, however, cannabidiol does not (Abuse). With the research people have done,
cannabidiol is even known to do more than tetrahydrocannabinol can. Another concern that has been
brought to light is that certain patients undergoing medical marijuana treatments could have dealt
with an addiction problem in the past and therefore take advantage of the medication given to them.
To counter this argument, most of the hospitals in the states that have approved medical marijuana
as a reliable treatment, issue patient identification to each patient (Marijuana). Medical Marijuana
may also be used to treat patients that struggle with former addictions. Many people also argue that
there are many other different treatments for pain, nausea, and vomiting. This is true, however,
with the proper research, marijuana could be used as a potential cure for cancer as well

Effect Of Aa Content On The Swelling Ratio Of Hydrogel
Effect of AA content on the swelling ratio of hydrogel
Fig. 3b shows the effect of AA on the Q value of hydrogel. With increasing concentration of AA,
the Q values of hydrogels increased and then decreased. When AA amount was more than 7 g, the
Q values of hydrogels decreased because when the concentration of AA was high, the collision
probability between monomers would increase, thus increasing the graft length of sulfonated
cellulose, favoring the formation of a polymeric network at higher Q values of hydrogels. HIGh AA
concentrations would lead to self polymerization and lower swelling ratio. The best ratio between
sulfonated cellulose and monomer was determined as 1:7.
3.5 The effect of KPS on the swelling ratio of hydrogel
Fig. 3c shows the effect of KPS on the Q value of hydrogel. The Q values of the hydrogels
increased, followed by a decrease with increasing amount of KPS. The maximum Q value was
observed at 2% KPS, because polymerization was initiated by the free radicals generated from KPS
under heat. More initiators would produce more free radicals that can enhance grafting efficiency.
Therefore, the hydrogel formation was enhanced and Q increased. However, too much initiator
would produce too many free radicals, thus increasing the collision probability between free
radicals, eventually terminating the reaction. The generated short graft chains would be difficult to
form a 3D network, decreasing the Q value.
3.6 The effect of neutralization degree of AA on

Surrounding the image of Shantarakshita, who is the central image of what is essentially a
mandala composition, are detailed scenes depicting how the eminent teacher brought the teachings
of the Buddha to Tibet and helped to establish the Himalayan nation s first Buddhist monastery. The
eye remains drawn to Shantarakshita, as the artist intends to praise Shantarakshita as the one who
firmly established Buddhism in the hearts, minds, souls, and daily lives of Tibetans. Portrayed in a
rich color palette containing saturated blues, reds, greens, and oranges, there is no remaining white
space on the canvas. The lowest portion of the composition is more cluttered than the uppermost
portion, serving a symbolic function. The artist contrasts the ordinary world of the human mind and
society with the transcendent world of enlightenment. The blue halo surrounding Shantarakshita
leads the eye up, through a lotus blossom, towards the two figures above him: Shakyamuni Buddha
to the right and Shantarakshita s own teacher to the left ( Historical Narrative: Shantarakshita ).

of an ordinary scene than the portrait of Shantarakshita. However, it is entirely mundane in Tibetan

Sarah and Angelina Grimke were two sisters who lived in the south, but joined the abolition
movement regardless (Kendall 35). The abolition movement was closely linked to the women s
rights movement because many saw the cult of domesticity as a form of slavery (Marshall). The
Grimkes attended and spoke at a series of lectures in 1837 and 1838. Their speeches were later
published as Letters on the Equality of the Sexes and the Condition of Woman (Kendall 37). In one
letter to her sister, Sarah is quoted to have said all I ask of our brethren is, that they will take their

and the importance of allowing women to have a voice. Another activist, Elizabeth Cady Stanton

Sentimentalism In Ah Q
Early 20th Century Chinese Sentimentalities
The True Story of Ah Q, as written in 1921 by Lu Xun, is widely seen as a magnum opus of
contemporary Chinese literature. Xun wanted to alter the way of thinking as well as enlighten his
fellow Chinese following the 1911 Revolution that overturned the final Chinese dynasty. Xun uses
the protagonist of the story, Ah Q, as a representative of Chinaas a whole as he saw the nation to be,
giving the reader an insight into social classes and attitudes that permeated Chinese society in the
early 20th century. Xun does not paint a great picture of Ah Q and unfortunately, this is his
opinion of Chinese society as a whole at the time. This portrayal of Chinese society is harsh and
eye opening but to Xun, very accurate and necessary to transform the thinking of Chinese people
at that time. During the early half of the 20th century, China was a struggling nation. The
country was overwhelmingly controlled by foreign powers and had little to no autonomy. After
losing the Opium Wars to Britain and France, coupled with an attack from the Japanese, the
Chinese had very little control over China. These losses led to China also losing Control of the
all important coastal ports that were very lucrative. The European influence permeated the
Chinese country as people felt helpless with their wishes and voices not being heard. Under
such circumstances, one could easily fall into a state of mind where they do not care. This is
similar to the mindset and characteristics of Ah Q. Ah Q was seen as backwards, aloof, careless,
but with an air of arrogance that was delusional. One common trait that comes from people
feeling helpless is drug usage. People use drugs and alcohol to help cope with whatever issues
they are having; this is no different for Ah Q. In one instance, the protagonist is seen drunk,
cavorting around the village, apparently celebrating the fact that one of the elite from the village
had passed an examination given by the county. In his state of drunkenness, Q proclaims that he
has the same last name as the elite, and that they are related. Ashamed and obviously upset with

Pica is an abnormal craving for or compulsive eating of a nonfood item. It happens most often in
children, especially those with developmental disabilities. Tasting and putting nonfood items into
the mouth is normal for infants and toddlers. If this behavior continues for longer than 1 month or
is excessive, it is not normal, and pica may be present. In children, pica generally goes away as the
child gets older or with proper treatment.
CAUSES
The exact cause of pica is not known. The craving to eat the nonfood item may be due to a diet
deficiency, such as an iron deficiency. It is not clear if the deficiency is the cause of pica or a result
of pica.

Social Media And Public Administration
In their article Social Media and Public Administration: Theoretical Dimensions and Introduction to
the Symposium, published in 2011 in Administrative Theory Praxis Vol. 33, Iss. 3, pp. 325 340,
authors Thomas A. Bryer and Staci M. Zavatarro introduce the rising trend of social media use in
public administration, in both government agencies and nonprofits. As public administration
scholars and practitioners themselves, the authors sought to analyze these trends further, and to
explore more comprehensively how social media technologies are utilized in public organizations,
as well as these methods outcomes. The article is laid out as follows: First, the authors attempt to
define social media; second, they identify common challenges and obstacles that public
organizations face when utilizing social media tools ; and finally, they identify areas for future
research. The authors hope that ultimately their research will provide assistance to those public
administration practitioners interested in successfully utilizing social media. The authors first
task in their research was to come up with a mutually agreed upon and easy to understand
definition of social media. For a starting or base definition, the authors cite the Federal Web
Managers Council (FWMC), a group of federal government specialists assigned to develop best
practices for federal agency Web sites and general online presence. Many information technology
(IT) arms of various federal agencies have adopted and

Descriptive Concert
Up until this moment, I had never been to a concert from my favorite band. This concert would
be one of the best moments of my life. The concert took place at the Oregon state fairgrounds in
Salem, Oregon. It was during the time when the annual state fair was taking place. The sky was
filled with clouds that only allowed the sun to peek through on occasion. Sweat drips down our
faces just by standing outside in the humid air. Walking into the fairgrounds dirt, and musty smells
surrounded the senses. Looking to the left and right, crowds of people were surrounding barn
animals to be able to pet and feed them. The strong scent of manure settled in our noses and pushed
us to walk farther into the fair at a quickened pace. We walked through an area that resembled a
saturday market. Booths were set up and the people inside them smiled brightly at us with clearly
hidden intentions behind their smiles. Sounds of people chattering amongst themselves floated
through the air making it hard to hear the person standing next to you. As we rushed through the
crowdpeople cut in front of us causing our group to get split up several times. Looking above us
a fairlift was moving people from far ends of the park. Legs could be seen swing forward and
back as they enjoyed staring at the ants below them. We rushed forward to get to the amphitheater
as quickly as we could. When we arrived at the amphitheatrewe are forced to slow to a sluggish
pace as people filled the amphitheatre like grains of

The Health Care And Insurance Industries
Climate Change. Insurers are central to how we deal, or don t deal, with climate change. They
price the risk facing property owners, and others, from weather events. These companies could
become financially vulnerable if they fail to properly account for the risks they face from climate
change since it is about a $23 million global investment. Damage claims could rise significantly
when the atmosphere warms up due to the retention of moisture, which can cause more extreme
weather, such as more powerful hurricanes and increased flooding. Damages to this extent could
create massive liabilities.
Employee Protections.
пѓ Laws against unfair discrimination at work and when applying for jobs.
пѓ No unfair discrimination on the basis of race, religion, sex, age, or color.
пѓ Business can not dismiss the workers because they have joined a trade union or for being
pregnant. There needs be proper warning before dismissing a worker otherwise it will be treated as
unfair dismissal.
Obamacare. The health care and insurance industries continue to be significantly affected by the
enactment of the health care reform law under President Barack Obama. Insurance companies were
forced by law to accept high risk customers, resulting in an increased number of claims and
payments due to free insurance. Insurance companies posted significant losses and have petitioned
the DOI to raise rates in an attempt to counter the losses.

  • 6. Margaret Atwood Handmaid Quotes 1. On page 26, Margaret Atwood first mentions the names of other Handmaids. This is from the quote: Offwayne. No. Ofwarren. What jumped out at me here was how all of the mentioned handmaids seem to have their names beginning with Of . First of all, the letter O looks like a womb or an egg. This possibly hints at their already evident role in society to procreate and have children for the commanders. But, if the reader goes a step further, it is evident all the handmaids have names that begin with Of . This alludes to the principle that the handmaids belong to their commanders, and that they have to do their duty, and nothing more. They are simply owned, like tools. The society went so far as to even include this ownership in their names.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, such quotes offer an explanation to why the protagonist sometimes randomly switches topics, and why she tells us her story in such a short and choppy manner. Atwood does this to show that Offred s emotions are seeping through, that she is a human just like us. This enables the reader to better connect to the story. • 12. Pluralism And The Problem Of Religious Diversity There exists a vast number of religions in the world that have their own belief systems and populations of followers that, naturally, gives result to a wide variety of religious diversity. Logically, the problem with this religious diversity is that it is hard to see how they could all be true at any rate. In response to this problem, two solutions have been proposed: pluralism and exclusivism. Pluralism makes a claim that all of the religions are true in their own way where exclusivism, on the other hand, makes the claim that only one religionis true in its beliefs. I will be discussing the differences between exclusivism and pluralism in depth as responses to the problem of religious diversity as well as comparing and contrasting Christianity and Hinduism to make a case for why exclusivism is the correct solution. The first solution to the problem, pluralism, which is advocated by John Hick, offers that, fundamentally, deep down, all of the religions are the same and so are all true in their own way. Hick, in his work titled Who or What is God?, believes that the concept of God can be described as anthropomorphic. That is, as Hick puts it, God is a being like ourselves in the fundamental respect that we are both God and ourselves persons. But whereas we are finite, created, dependent persons, God is an infinite, eternal, uncreated and omnipotent Person. (Hick). In addition, the evaluation plan provides information that allows for adjustments /improvements during project development and implementation. According to Howlett, et. al., there are four types of evaluations (Benchmark Evaluation, Formative Evaluation, Summative Evaluation and Impact or Outcome Evaluation.) My organization has opted to utilize the Benchmark Evaluation type. Howlett, et. al., describes the Benchmark Evaluation as follows, before you begin your work, you must document the current situation so that measurements taken during and after project implementation can be compared to the starting point. (Baseline) (p.124) There are, however; some aspects of the other Evaluation types that can be beneficial. For example, the Formative Evaluation allows for collecting continuous feedback from participants in the program, which will enable the program to be revised, if needed. The Summative Evaluation allows for collecting data on the impact of a program after a year of operation in the community. Lastly, the Impact or Outcome Evaluation type evaluates what has changed with individuals, groups, the community and/or the knowledge base as a result of the project. • 26. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sealed Bidding By Procurement Procurement by public entities is guided by primary law principles of transparency, equal treatment and non discrimination, procurement laws sets up an extensive legal framework regarding the procurement of work, supply and service contracts. There are two main reasons for the use of specific procedures i.e. why contracting authorities do not just negotiate or simply buy from the closest supplier. First, it provides for more public accountability and therefore less cases of corruption practices. Additionally, tendering procedures aim to ensure the best value for money by making it necessary for suppliers to act highly competitive. As a result, market mechanisms will help in facilitating the best possible practices. In situations where market mechanisms are not effective, tender procedures might lose their effectiveness as well. If for example there is lack of competition due to certain complexities or as a result of lower bidder interest, negotiations with just one or two suppliers may be the most efficient manner to handle the process. Therefore, we discuss the inherent advantages and disadvantages of sealed biddingand contracting by negotiation as procedural frameworks for tendering. With increasing concentration of AA, the Q values of hydrogels increased and then decreased. When AA amount was more than 7 g, the Q values of hydrogels decreased because when the concentration of AA was high, the collision probability between monomers would increase, thus increasing the graft length of sulfonated cellulose, favoring the formation of a polymeric network at higher Q values of hydrogels. HIGh AA concentrations would lead to self polymerization and lower swelling ratio. The best ratio between sulfonated cellulose and monomer was determined as 1:7. 3.5 The effect of KPS on the swelling ratio of hydrogel Fig. 3c shows the effect of KPS on the Q value of hydrogel. The Q values of the hydrogels increased, followed by a decrease with increasing amount of KPS. The maximum Q value was observed at 2% KPS, because polymerization was initiated by the free radicals generated from KPS under heat. More initiators would produce more free radicals that can enhance grafting efficiency. Therefore, the hydrogel formation was enhanced and Q increased. However, too much initiator would produce too many free radicals, thus increasing the collision probability between free radicals, eventually terminating the reaction. The generated short graft chains would be difficult to form a 3D network, decreasing the Q value. 3.6 The effect of neutralization degree of AA on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Sentimentalism In Ah Q Early 20th Century Chinese Sentimentalities The True Story of Ah Q, as written in 1921 by Lu Xun, is widely seen as a magnum opus of contemporary Chinese literature. Xun wanted to alter the way of thinking as well as enlighten his fellow Chinese following the 1911 Revolution that overturned the final Chinese dynasty. Xun uses the protagonist of the story, Ah Q, as a representative of Chinaas a whole as he saw the nation to be, giving the reader an insight into social classes and attitudes that permeated Chinese society in the early 20th century. Xun does not paint a great picture of Ah Q and unfortunately, this is his opinion of Chinese society as a whole at the time. This portrayal of Chinese society is harsh and eye opening but to Xun, very accurate and necessary to transform the thinking of Chinese people at that time. During the early half of the 20th century, China was a struggling nation. The country was overwhelmingly controlled by foreign powers and had little to no autonomy. After losing the Opium Wars to Britain and France, coupled with an attack from the Japanese, the Chinese had very little control over China. These losses led to China also losing Control of the all important coastal ports that were very lucrative. The European influence permeated the Chinese country as people felt helpless with their wishes and voices not being heard. Under such circumstances, one could easily fall into a state of mind where they do not care. This is similar to the mindset and characteristics of Ah Q. Ah Q was seen as backwards, aloof, careless, but with an air of arrogance that was delusional. One common trait that comes from people feeling helpless is drug usage. People use drugs and alcohol to help cope with whatever issues they are having; this is no different for Ah Q. In one instance, the protagonist is seen drunk, cavorting around the village, apparently celebrating the fact that one of the elite from the village had passed an examination given by the county.
