Load shedding :
To disconnect the load automatically by frequency
sensetive relay termed as load shedding.
Under frequency load shedding
Object :
To balance the load and the genaration .
The load is shed a block at a time untill the frequency
stabilize.
Factors affecting load shedding
 Maximum anticipated overload
• load reduction factor (d)
• For safest d=0;
Number of load shedding steps
 Most utilities use between 2 to 5 load shedding step.
 3 is the most common.
Size of load shed at each step
• Express as % of overload
• % overload = (load-power input/power output)*100
Frequency setting
Time delay
 Location of the frequency relay
Consideration for industrial system
Conclusion:
