more than 69% of those patients with stage three and four chronic kidney disease (CDC, 2014).
Hyperparathyroidism further decreases the quality of life of CKD patients by putting them at a greater
risk for osteodystrophies, such as osteomalacia and osteitis fibrosa. Current treatments focus on
reducing parathyroid hormone and phosphorus, while increasing serum calcium levels. Future
research should look at prophylactic and non pharmacologic treatment options, as these are currently
difficult to find. This paper further explores current treatments for secondary hyperparathyroidism and

The movie Remember The Titans took place in Alexandria, VA, in TC Williams high school. The
movie was during a time of segregation and racism. TC Williams integrated their school and their
sports teams. Gary Bertier, the white football team captain, and Julius Campbell, the black left side
linebacker, did not get along and could never agree on anything because they had different skin colors.
In the beginning of the movie, Gary hated Julius based on his appearance, and not his character. Over
the course of the movie, their hatred for each other turned into a friendship like no other. At the start of
