Identity And Sense Of Homosexuality
My first inkling that something was different was when I went on the Internet this morning and ended
up consuming video after video, reading articles, comments, and posts. I have been sitting on the
computer for who knows how long now, and it s clear to me that the majority of the world is
homosexual, with it being universally accepted and widely preferred. Heterosexuality was a minority
and therefore, so was I.
Sure, I ve been aware that people dislike differences and seek similarities, but being on the receiving
end of vitriol, hate and prejudice makes you question your very own sense of being and individuality.
Reading and watching content on the internet was making me feel horrible about myself. Don t get me
wrong, there is a lot of positive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea is that self complexity can buffer threats and aid in building resilience and balance, and this
affect can spread across domains when one has better interconnected domains. For example, someone
who sees themselves as a mother, a lawyer, a wife, a martial artist etc. From what I ve experienced
online so far, heterosexuals are condensed into just that one defining domain which influences the way
others treat them and consequently the way they see themselves, and a lack of self complexity like that
can leave you vulnerable to stressors and ultimately lead to anxiety and depression. The Social
Identity Theory (Tajfel, 1974), the idea that we learn about the self through our memberships in
certain groups, is also a huge factor in the formation of an identity. Before, when heterosexuality was
the majority, I never gave much thought to my sexuality, it just was what it was. The thing is, that s
still true, it s what it is. But now there seems to be so many connotations and attributions linked to
heterosexuality that I almost wish it was a choice because my thoughts are mostly made up of
confusion and the feelings of unacceptance, fear of being ostracized, and being seen as Other . Just
reading about the way some people feel about heterosexuality made me feel anxious about the
prospect that every single person in my life has the potential to shun me, maybe even hate me once

American Automobile Industry
American Automobile Industry
As we move towards a globalized business world, new competitors have risen from developing
nations. These nations now pose a threat to the many industries still stuck in their old ways. One
industry in particular is the American auto industry that has seen a large fall in their earnings. Japan is
one nation who has revolutionized the auto industry through Toyota. The world is growing and with
this growth we see a need for energy and with it has come a high price at the pump. Ford Motor Co.
and General Motors Corp. due to a lack of planning, inability to adjust to this energy crisis, and other
problems have led to massive losses. With investors anxious for change, American auto industry in

Ford seems to be attempting to do just that with its recent hiring Moray Callum, previous general
manager of design at Mazda Motor Corp. Callum is credited with reviving Mazda s product portfolio
(The Wall Street Journal, 5/1/2006).
Beyond planning, cutting costs, globalization these automakers need leadership. In the long run we
may see new technologies that improve the American auto industry s power but for now what the
industry is a leadership. In recent months ford hired a number of new executives to head key areas
related to North American operations, such as product development, marketing, engineering and
manufacturing. GM has done the same. One person shaking things up at GM is their newest director,
Jerome York. The 67 year old former auto executive has helped engineer turnarounds at Chrysler and
International Business Machines Corp. He has been going over financial statements, seeking new
engines and transmissions, and has even met with GM s labor relations executives to deal with the
tense negotiations with the United Auto Workers, which is another ongoing problem for the company.
Outside directors are increasingly looking to him to set the tone and agenda (The Wall Street Journal,
5/1/2006). That is what GM needs, leadership that understands the automobile business and is willing
to fight for survival. Both Ford Motor Company and General Motors Corporation are in the midst of
restructuring. The American auto industry is beginning to

Gender Stereotypes In The Film Milk
True equality means holding everyone accountable in the same way, regardless of race, gender, faith,
ethnicity or political ideology. (Monica Crowley) Two ideas that have been discussed in this gender
unit were, one, we talked about how everyone has a different gender according to how they are. The
second idea was that people shouldn t be defined by their sex at birth, you should be defined by your
personality and how you express it. One main reason that Stephens should teach this unit next year is
because I feel like people, specifically boys, should be more open about their feelings, so it won t
build up and eventually burst open like a bubble. One of the sources we examined was The Mask You
Live In (Jennifer Newson). This documentary showed that boys have tendencies to hide their true
emotion because society marks boys as masculine , tough , and that crying shows signs of weakness.
This ties in because I feel like some people may not be able to or may not ... Show more content on

Stephens should show the film Milk because some people may need to be inspired to fight for
something they believe in as well. One of the sources we examined was the film Milk (Gus Van Sant) .
This film showed how one gay man changed the way people lived in San Francisco. Harvey ran and
won for supervisor for San Francisco, although it did take him 4 tries to do it he didn t give up,
because of that it allowed many people of the gay community to come out per say. This ties into my
opinion because Harvey Milk was criticized for being gay, but that didn t stop him from achieving his
goal. People might be intimidated to do things of criticism. In conclusion, one of the main reasons that
Stephens should teach unit next year is because I feel like people need to be inspired to fight for what

Chickenpox
Epidemiology: Chickenpox
The Varicella Zoster virus causes a very infectious disease called Chickenpox. Chickenpox is usually
acquired through the inhalation of airborne respiratory droplets from an infected host. Chickenpox is
primarily acquired during childhood , with more than 90% of all reported cases occurring in children
under the age of 10. A person with chickenpox can spread the virus without even showing any signs or
symptoms. It is usually most easily transmitted two to three days before a rash appears and keeps that
high transmission rate until the blisters have crusted over.
The following paper provides a detailed description of Chickenpox and the determinants of health
contributing to the development of the disease. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before vaccines were introduced, varicella was endemic in the United States, and virtually all persons
acquired varicella at some point before adulthood (cdc.gov, 2006). It is reported that 4 million cases of
chickenpox were recorded in the U.S. each year before the vaccine was introduced. Although some
states reported cases of varicella to the CDC, it was eliminated from the list of nationally notifiable
conditions in 1981. Children under 10 years of age make up between 75 90 % of chickenpox cases. In
1995, due to the availability of the vaccine in the U.S., hospitalizations due to chickenpox has
declined by nearly 90% (Hambleton, Gershon, 2005).
Determinants of Health
Varicella peaks in the months of March through May and throughout the regions with mild
temperature. Varicella and herpes zoster occur worldwide and are not restricted to any one geographic
location. According to the CDC, the varicella infection is more prevalent among adults than children
in tropical areas. It is unknown what the reasons are for the difference of age distribution, possibility is
that in rural population varicella infection is not common (cdc.gov, 2006). January was regularly the
season and its peak for the varicella infection before the nationwide vaccination was implemented. It

A Career As A Radical Feminist
Radical feminists have paved the way for so many women to stand up for themselves. Many rights
were made available to all women because of radical feminists. Their presence, their energy, their
ideology was desperately needed during a difficult time of oppression. Some feminine acts of
oppression are still frowned upon today as a form of oppression. I would rather be a bad feminist then
to not a feminist at all , a quote by Roxanne Gay, but in this generation why should feminists have to
choose between being a good or bad feminist?
Radical feminism, starting around the 1960s, sought to eradicate male supremacy. This wave of
feminists believe that men are the main source of oppression and if you eliminate patriarchy, then
everyone will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Currently, women have more rights than before and we can contribute a part of that to radical
feminists. We have so many rights, that radical feminism is no longer the only solution, or even
necessary. There are several ways that women, can now, fight oppression.
I think a lot of the ideology from radical feminism is still used by feminist today and Gay highlights
this problem in Bad Feminist. Feminists denounce other feminists for wanting to engage in activities
that radical feminists would not approve of. Which tears down the movement, in my opinion.
Anything that is woman like, or typical behavior for women, gets disapproval. There are women who
like to do woman things, like cook for the husband, or even get married to a man. These women
should not have to choose between being a feminist or not, if they believe in the equality of the

Motherhood, the Needle and Thread
Think of one person you can turn to for advice, expect love and warmth from, or tell you who you
should be dating. In most cases one s mother or a mother figure would spring into their minds.
Motherhood is and underlying theme that affects all characters in both Persepolis and A Thousand
Splendid Suns. Essentially, it highlights the unfair treatment directed towards women in their
countries. During the course of both novels all women, even those who were not mothers, are
burdened with the strict morals imposed upon them. For instance, Marjane had issues with staying true
to herself and Laila had difficulties with raising her daughter Aziza and son Zalmai. These religious
and governmental restrictions enforced upon women by men facilitated in painting a clear portrayal of
sacrifice, strength and love that women and mothers needed to attain in order to survive. Despite the
prevalence of a masculine dominant society, the true importance of motherhood and femininity
prevails; binding the novels Persepolis and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Relative to both novels,
motherhood can be assigned an all encompassing definition. Motherhood is the feeling of warmth,
cultural memory, and freedom; it is willing to sacrifice anything for the betterment of the child. One
does not have to physically bare an offspring to be considered a mother. To embrace the characteristics
of motherhood means presenting ultimate love and affection and using complete agency when raising
the child. Maternity

The Roles of Women in Kennedy Toole’s A Confederacy of Dunces
Throughout your entire life you will change immensely. From the child who dreams of being a

They take many roles in their lives. A woman, as an infant, is the one nurtured and cared for. But when
she marries and has her own family she becomes the protector and nurturer. In John Kennedy Toole s
A Confederacy of Dunces we can see the many stages of the life of women and the different roles they

Research shows that due to the greater frequency of PCI in various trials, Brilinta was showed to have
greater benefit over Plavix in NSTE ACS patients.
NSTE ACS blah blah and mention statistics and other sources. This research involving current
literature was conducted to determine if there is any difference in antiplatelet therapy with Plavix,
when compared to Brilinta. With this knowledge, providers can be properly informed about choosing
the best treatment for their patients.
Methods:
In order to conduct this research paper, access was gained into the University of Texas Rio Grande
Valley library website (http://www.utpa.edu/library). Under the heading of Articles and Databases ,
Pub Med was selected. Entering the key words Brilinta , NSTE ACS and Brilinta vs Plavix this search
was conducted. This search was conducted on several separate occasions. Over 350 articles were
returned with these key words mentioned in the title.
After the initial search, about 35 journal readings had to be read thoroughly and closely analyzed.
From which, 10 of these journal articles were deemed pertinent to this manuscript. These publications
were then saved, printed, and re analyzed for key information. All publications were chosen from
reputable sources via online and only pertinent information relating to this manuscript will be
discussed.

Forms Or Universals
As human beings we are confronted every day with a physical and real world, most of us would not
question the legitimacy or the existence of the things that we encounter on a daily basis. but, what is
reality? where does it take place? Is reality independent or dependent on our thinking and perceptions?
Philosophers have struggled to answer these questions, Plato s most influential theory is specifically
an attempt to establish the place in which reality transpires. This theory is known as the theory of
Forms or Universals. Plato believes that the physical world where humans dwell is not a real world,
for Plato true reality exists beyond our objective world. In the Republic, Plato talks about the physical
and the spiritual realm. The physical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
as a matter of facts, the changes that are perceived in the physical world do not change the essence of
being (reality) but changes within being. He is also a dualist, he believes there are two worlds but you
cannot separate the reality, in other words, there is only one world. In his dialogue with Parmenides
Plato presents the idea that universals are unique while at the same time sharing some sort of the
distinctiveness of what Parmenides understands as being. But universals are in many places at once
and in many shapes but without losing its Form. He does the same process as he presents the idea of
being different. Plato meets Parmenides own grounds, by showing that not because you are not
something it means that you lose your status of being, but in reality, you are just different.(164 172)
In the case of Heraclitus, he argued that what is real is in total flux. He believes that we cannot have
the absolute truth or knowledge that Plato is presenting through the theory of Forms but rather
believes that everything is in universal flux. So, if things are changing how is it possible to know
something based on appearances. In his own words, you cannot step in the same river twice. The water
you step in the first time is not there anymore, so you cannot bring the past back, change is the way of
truth. In simple words, truth is in a constant state of being and not being.

Introduction To Identity The Unknow Acid Solution
The purpose of this experiment is to identity the unknow acid solution through determining the Ka
value of the reaction experimentally. The colors of unknown acid 3 matches the colors of test tube 1,
with thymol blue being light pink, malachite green being dark green and crystal violet being cyan.
Comparing it to other 3 test tubes, test tube 2 has a similar result. Both test tube 3 and 4 have higher
Ph than 1 and 2, since thymol blue is yellow and crystal violet is purple in test tube 3, rose and blue in
test tube 4. Crystal violet is green in test tube 2, which shows that it has a lower ph than test tube 1.
So, the order of acidity from most acidic to least acidic is 2143. Dichloroacetic acid is the second
strongest in those 4 acids; this suggests that unknown acid 3 is dichloroacetic acid.

colorless. At a high ph level where the H3O concentration is low, the equilibrium shifts to the right,

strong acid strong base titration. In a weak acid and strong base titration, the equivalence point would
be above 7 due to the reaction occur between the conjugated base and water. This often makes the pH
value detectable by Phenolphthalein. In a strong acid and strong base titration where the equivalence
point is 7, the spike of pH around equivalence point is huge and all indicators at this range change
color at the same volume of acid or base. Therefore, using Phenolphthalein in this case won t cause

Monotheism Vs Abrahamic Religion
Monotheism is the act of believing in one God. The three religions that practice monotheism are
Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Each of these religions have a direct link to Abraham; thus being
called the Abrahamic Religions. Judaism is linked to Abraham as he is proclaimed as the Patriarch of
the Jewish people and the Father of the Covenant. Likewise, Muslims view Abraham as the Father of
the Arab people as well as the Jewish people through his two sons, Isaac and Ishmael. Christians view
Abraham as the prototype of all believers, the Father of the Covenant and the Father of Isaac and
Ishmael. Sacred traditions are treated with both celebration and seriousness in the monotheistic
religions.
Just as God instructed Abraham 4000 years ago, a sacred Jewish ritual would be the circumcision of
all baby boys when they reach eight days of age. Another ritual is when families gather to welcome
the Holy day of the Sabbath. For a Jewish person, their religion is very much dedicating their lives to
God, where their whole life becomes an act of worship. The LORD would speak to Moses face to

ISTJ Character Analysis
According to my test result, ISTJ, I am a person who values loyalty, tradition, factual information, and
structure. As an ISTJ, I am hardworking, logical, extremely observant and a natural leader. My
strengths as a Duty Fulfiller include being a good listener and spender, the ability to digest
constructive criticism, to endure conflict without emotional upheaval, and to allocate punishment
when necessary. Because of this, I can achieve almost any goal I set for myself. How reassuring! On
the opposite end of the spectrum, ISTJs typically are not comfortable with expressing emotion to
others and are not naturally in tune with other people s feelings. We also dislike change, abstract
theory, and nonsensical work. I cannot agree with my supposed lack of ability to sense other people s
feeling, in fact, I find this to be contrary to one of the other ISTJ traits, the trait of being extremely
observant. I also think everyone has little patience for nonsensical work. My weaknesses include a
propensity to think I am always right (which I am) and a tendency to not show enough appreciation

Moses was just a man who had faith in God and tried to follow God s will as best as he could. God

The people worshiped Moses over God and asked Jesus What can you do ? They wanted Jesus to

He tells them that He lives because the living God sent Him and therefore anyone who feeds on Him
will live because of Him.
This can be a hard teaching to understand. What is the Flesh of Jesus? What is His Blood ? To
understand this we have to understand a couple of things.
First, when He says we will live, He is talking about our spirits. Our bodies will face death and decay.
They will be raised one day and glorified, but still they will die. The Scriptures clearly teach whoever
believes will not die but have eternal life.
Our spirits die by being separated from God. We must be fed spiritually in order for our spirits to live.
What do we feed our spirits on? The Word of God. Who is the Word of God? None other than Jesus.
Unless we feast on the Word our spirits will weaken and begin to die.
Now, why must we drink His blood? The Law prohibited the drinking of blood because life is in the
blood. When we drink Christ s blood, we are drinking from the cup of salvation. We are taking His life
inside of us. In other words we are accepting Him as our personal savior. It is by His blood that was

In Agathon s eulogy, he praises the actual god that is Love, and speaks of the virtues of Love rather
than the natures. Within these virtues is moderation, and he states that love has the biggest share of
moderation. It is generally agreed that moderation is the mastery of pleasures and desires, and that no
pleasure is stronger than Love...if Love masters pleasures and desires, he must be exceptionally
moderate, (30.196c). This continues further on the ideas of the pleasure received purely from physical
love are inferior and must be practiced in moderation. Socrates closes on the discussion of physical
love and lust in his discussion. He concludes that physical love is not love at all because, desire and
love are directed at what you don t have, what isn t there, and what you need, (35.200e). Since one can
never be in the possession of love, then love can not be held in the single physical act of lust and
pleasure. Each orator discusses the inferiority of the purely physical acts of love and as they continue,
each discussion delves further into the inadequacy of love without intellect.
As with the aspects of physical love and lust within humans, the ideas of reproduction permeate
throughout The Symposium. In Aristophanes address, he discusses the history of love in the

Swot Analysis Walgreens
Walgreens
When forming Walgreens in 1901, Mr. Charles Rudolph Walgreen had a vision of changing drugstores
from humdrum fronts to actual businesses that imparted value to customers. He had worked in
pharmacies before, and he had a vision of what he wanted. However, even he would not have known
that it would grow to the behemoth it is now. The company is the biggest drug distributor in the United
States and its territories. Its headquarters are still in Chicago, and it has survived in a pharmaceutical
industry that has sometimes proved to be tempestuous. In this paper, the writer shall look at the
industry and how the firm has operated in it. It shall also investigate Walgreens rivals and present an
analysis.
Position in the Industry
The firm brings in over $76 billion dollars in revenue. Those are figures from 2014, and as it goes
global, the figures will rise. It currently has more than 8,217 locations in the country and growing.
After it has completed the buying and integration with Alliance Boots, a Swiss company, that roster is
going to increase. The company is not just bringing in money; it has been in the black for most of its
existence. Last year it had profits upwards of $ 1 billion. It was a slight dip from 2013, but that can be
attributed to the growth drive on which the firm embarked. It did spend quite a lot on rebranding in
some locations and resetting its store model.

Essay on Listeria Monocytogenus
Introduction:
The purpose of this Literature review is to gain a broader insight into the food borne pathogen known
as Listeria and its traits .In This review I will discuss in detail the different types of Listeria Species
which can be isolated from various types of food samples and determining their overall antibiotic
resistance, the illness associated with each and the incidences and outbreaks worldwide. I will then
compare my overall findings, due to the word count I will not be discussing the Biochemical tests in

It was first discovered more than seventy years ago it was first found in 1940 by an English surgeon
named Joseph Lister There are a number of genus species related to Listeria, but firstly I will discuss
Listeria Monocytogenes, it can be is classed as an opportunistic pathogen ( an organism that is defined
as a commensal bacteria which usually do not harm the host but can result in illness if the host is
under stress or is suppressed), this infection is mainly related with dairy products such as cheese raw
milk etc., meats and ready handled foods (Hill, C. et al 2009). Listeria Monocytogenes can be widely
found in nature and can be predominantly quarantined from a variety of environmental surroundings
such as soil, Air, Water, faecal samples of both animals and humans. The most common mode of entry
of this infection is by direct digestion of uncooked food products however the infection can also be
contacted directly from animal humans animals can carry the bacteria without showing any symptoms
of illness. The ideal food conditions where the bacteria can thrive is foods which a long shelf life and
can be refrigerated as the bacteria can withstand fridge temperatures also foods that may not need to
be cooked example includes salads, coleslaw, unpasteurised milk etc. Listeria Monocytogenes can
form two forms of known diseases these are called both Invasive and Non Invasive Listeriosis.
Invasive affects people with compromised immune

Richard Iii
#9;Much debate and controversy surround the rise and fall of Richard the Third. It is hard to ignore
such subjects due to the bonds and hidden reasons that many of the authors of the middle ages had
towards Richard. In keeping an objective approach towards Richard III, the study of his rise and fall
will be taken in the perspective of his royal acts and administration of England. Public sentiment over
such things as the scandal surrounding the princes did have an effect over the rule of Richard, but
there are many other underlying aspects that could have extended Richards rule, and changed the way
history looks back on him.

Such ideas were tantamount as to Richard s commitment to improving England.
#9;He was not merely limited to philanthropic duties. In parliament many historians credit him with
reforms for the better of England with his various Public Acts . The most important centered around
Royal benevolence. Richard pushed for making it illegal for such activities by the king, and for
financial reform of the government. He also established a line of succession to ensure the stability of
England when he died. This had been missing in England for some years. Richard had social agendas
as well. Richard calls for measures to reform the court systems. Corruption had taken hold of juries
and Richard instated laws to minimize this as well as defend those accused of crimes by creating bail.
To ensure all were represented, even those poor who could not afford representation in court, Richard
III called for the creation of the Court of Requests. These courts gave the opportunity for anyone to
have representation. At the same time Richard realizes the influence of the rising middle class

merchants of England, Richard called for the Irish to regulate their money by centralizing their mints

Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP)
A recently graduated working paramedic is referred to as an Advanced Care Paramedic, or an ACP. An
ACP follows a clinical structure, the first aspect of the format is called a primary survey which
collects all emergency patient information. This compulsory technique aims to identify and control
catastrophic medical events to ensure patients have the best outcome possible (Hodegetts et al., 2011).
When conducting a primary survey of a patient an ACP would follow the basic structure of danger,
response, airway, breathing and circulation; usually shortened into the acronym DRABC (Woo, 2000).
To begin the primary survey, DRABC should be started as soon as possible (QAS reference). It is

Nascar s Old Guard For A New Generation Of Young Turks
On March 8, 1936, a collection of drivers gathered at Daytona Beach, Florida. Throughout the race,
the heavier cars got bogged down in the sand, while the lightweight Fords navigated the ruts of the
course, eventually claiming the top 6 finishes for the race. They also like the city lost their interest in
motor sports promotion. The drivers brought coupes, hardtops, convertibles, and sports cars to
compete in an event to determine the fastest cars, and best drivers. Haugdahl and France had become
very good friends and were not about to give up. In May 2007, NNS director Joe Balash confirmed
that NASCAR was exploring options to deal with the Buschwhacker controversy. The two drivers
crashed just before the finish line, and Pearson won the race by sputtering to the checkered flag. Petty
s retirement in 1992 marked the transition from Nascar s old guard to a new generation of young turks

Messenger Protein Synthesis
Genes are transcribed to yield one of three types of RNA. These RNA types include messenger RNA
(mRNA), transfer RNA (tRNA), and ribosomal RNA (rRNA). Messenger RNA carries the genetic
instructions needed to manufacture polypeptides. Messenger RNA is absolutely necessary, because
genes cannot leave the nucleus. They pass their information to mRNA, which transports that
information to the cytoplasm, where protein synthesis occurs at the ribosome.
Protein synthesis is the manufacturing of functional polypeptides in the cytoplasm. Protein synthesis
occurs through the process of translation. Translation is the formation of a chain of amino acids by
using the instructions a messenger RNA strand provides. This process takes place at the ribosome. The
codons of an mRNA strand carry the instructions in triplets of bases of the coding strand of the gene.
Each codon encodes a specific amino acid to be installed into the growing polypeptide chain. During
translation, the sequence of codons will dictate the sequence of amino acids in the protein. The amino
acids are delivered to the ribosome by transfer RNA, a fairly small and mobile type of RNA. Each
transfer RNA molecule attaches and transports a specific amino acid. ... Show more content on

This quantity ensures that there is at least one tRNA for each of the 20 different types of amino acids
used in protein synthesis. Each tRNA molecule has a 3 CCA sequence that attaches to an amino acid.
Transfer RNA s are typically 80 bases in length. Approximately midway along its length, the
polynucleotide chain of tRNA forms a loop, called the anticodon loop. This loop contains 3 bases that
can pair complementarily with an appropriate codon in the mRNA. The nucleotide sequence of the
anticodon dictates the type of amino acid transported by the transfer RNA. For example, a tRNA with
the anticodon ACA carries cysteine, whereas a tRNA with the anticodon AAA carries

How Does Justine s Trial Affect The Treatment Of Women In...
Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein, lived in a time period of great inequality between men and
women where women were restricted in their roles and rights. During Justine s trial, Shelley not only
strives to argue against male dominance in society but also to elucidate irony in the subjection of
women through overemphasis on male power over women. Shelley uses abstract diction to show
Justine s presumed guilt and inability to defend herself against her accusers because of her class and
gender and also makes a combined emotional and ethical appeal that pokes at women s gullibility. She
also juxtaposes Justine s innocence and Victor s guilt in order to accentuate how Victor, a man,
negatively influenced the outcome of Justine s trial. By creating ... Show more content on

hellfire in my last moments if I continued to obdurate. The jailor s threat of higher punishment in
afterlife with exocommunication and hellfire allow Shelley to expose the pressure men put on women.
She also alludes to God of heaven to depict the measure that man would go to obtain power over
women, which questions her audience s ethics in whether God should be used to attain control over
another person. The authoritative power of Justine s jailors is exploited to forcefully manipulate and
conjure a confession, evoking sympathy from readers for her gullibility. Justine s pushed confession
and justification for it further depicts a weakness of women and overbearingness of men that Shelley
is constantly reiterating to prove the deep inequality between men and

My Favorite Place At The Lisbon Lepper Library
First of all, community service elicits compassion and understanding otherwise difficult to view in
everyday life. When volunteering to help organizations, causes, or people one s time is not being used
for just a singular outcome but several diverse establishments. Not only do efforts aid in promoting
positive impacts in one s society but also in one s own character.
I frequently chose to volunteer at the Lisbon Lepper Library, a public library where copious amounts
of people choose to spend their free time, because I was able to aid in various departments and interact
with diverse groups of patrons. My favorite place to contribute to in the library was the Children s
Department due to the enthusiasm and need apparent in those patrons. I had the honor of meeting
hundreds of children through my volunteer work, all of which carried unique burdens but always wore
a smile and were able to put one on me too. Two young girls in particular were inspiring to me. These
girls each came from difficult circumstances; yet, when together appeared to never have experienced a
worry. Although, I would be helping the department put on educational programs for the patrons there
was not a time when those two girls did not find a way to teach me something too. Whether they came
racing up to share interesting facts they found in the nonfiction section, a topic they enjoyed at school

Law Enforcement Within The United States
Law Enforcement officers have one of the most critical jobs in the United States. Their lives are
always on the line and they are of high regards. This means they cannot fail! The results of their jobs
do not only depend on their actions but also on the people. What this means is the community has a
huge role when it comes to solving crime. Though many people may not believe it, they are the key to
a successful crime prevention community. The people of the United States don t really understand
both the positive and negative effects that community policing actually brings. Some may say it is
very dangerous based on their experiences. Others may say it s the best way to do away with crime.
Today the two will be compared and put to test by true officers serving our country. The facts will be
stated and questions will be answered. Let s take a look at what community policing is really all
about!
Law Enforcement within the United States is limited as many people may feel that it is a dangerous
job. With law enforcement being so limited there is one way the community can and has assisted
throughout the years. Community policing is the system of allocating police officers to particular areas
so that they become familiar with the local inhabitants. In other words community policing allows law
enforcement to be at high profile areas while the community who chooses to be involved is the eyes
and ears for law enforcement. In other words were there is crime the community will

The sixth sense is demonstrated in all the progression and inventions of human civilizations.
Sometimes, the inventions springs suddenly but after a long trials and sufferings; so that the inventor

The Use Of Performance Enhancing Drugs In Sports
The use of performance enhancing drugs to help athletes perform better is illegal and considered
cheating as this drug gives the athlete who may have been an average performer an edge over the
competition after the use of these drugs. This is unfair to the other players who are playing a fair
game. No matter at what level whether its high school, college or a professional, athletes should not be
using drugs to help or boost their performance in any way as it wrong and the athlete is basically

Non Normative Events
Non normative life events are usually those that are significant, unpredictable and unexpected; they
happen to a particular individual and if not handled properly can have mental or psychological effects.
They include natural disasters, civil wars or loss of a family member. In some instances, events like
illness or death are statistically categorized as normative but in real sense are unexpected and
undesired hence are definitely non normative. This discussion is going to identify and summarize two

Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh Essay
Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh
In Aurora Leigh, Elizabeth Barrett Browning creates an independent, intelligent young woman. Barrett
Browning successfully demonstrates the difficult obstacles women had to overcome in the Victorian
period. There were preconceived ideas of what proper women were suppose to do with their life. Not
that this idea has completely been surmounted in our time. Barrett Browning though is optimistic
about the goals women can achieve. She wants to demonstrate to women that belief in themselves and
their dreams is possible and preferable to the standard.

assisting the board to discharge its governance responsibilities. Yet how does the board and its audit
committee satisfy itself that internal audit is functioning effectively and efficiently?

Governing internal audit
Amidst all the debate over corporate governance and the board s supervision of internal control
mechanisms, surprisingly little attention has been given to the role of internal audit, and particularly to
whom it is ultimately responsible. While several high level reviews by regulators and others have
acknowledged that the internal audit function and the oversight of internal controls has become an
important responsibility of boards, the implications of this for internal audit have not always been
followed through. Thus in the US, the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 makes no mention of internal
audit, or of any equivalent role other than the board s role generally in the preparation of the accounts
and the setting of accounting standards.
Critical success factors for an internal audit function
Is internal audit strategically positioned to contribute to business performance? The mission and role
of internal audit are defined within a wider governance framework and are effectively communicated.
The structure of internal audit promotes objectivity, consistency and business understanding. Internal
audit is funded in a way that promotes objectivity and consistency in the quality of services it

Criminal Prosecution And The Judicial Process
Criminal prosecution develops through various stages in the judicial process beginning with the arrest
of an individual and ending at a point before, during, or after a trial. The criminal procedure is based
on the constitutional laws, statues, and court rulings that are meant to render justice in a criminal case.
The government must follow these procedures during the entirety of a criminal case. Beginning with
the initial investigation of an individual suspected of a crime, through the arrest, jailing, arraignment,
and thereafter. Although they must act within the boundaries of the law and protect an individual s
right to the 4th amendment of the constitution, police officers are allowed to conduct investigations,
perform search and seizures, and arrest individuals that are suspected of a crime. Police officers do not
need justification to stop someone and question them, but in order to search an individual a police
officer must have probable cause. In order to make an arrest, the officer must either observe an
individual committing a crime, have probable cause that a crime has been committed by that person,
or have a valid arrest warrant. There is no scale to measure what probable cause is, so at the time of
arrest, this is completely at the officer s discretion. This can cause officers to subdue the wrong
individuals or make faulty decisions. Judges have the final say on what constitutes probable cause, and
police officers must be able to ultimately justify their

The Significance of Chapter 5 in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
The Significance of Chapter 5 in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Works Cited Not Included
This essay will consider the significance of Chapter five to the rest of the novel, and look at how Mary
Shelley s life has influenced her writing. I am going to focus mainly on Chapter five, but first I am
going to consider some important aspects of the preceding chapters.
In Chapter one Victor describes how his mother and father met and how he and Elizabeth where
brought together. When he first describes her, it contrasts greatly with his primary depiction of the

Though he had a happy childhood, Frankenstein never had many friends, and Elizabeth and Henry
Clerval where his closest. When Victor was seven, his mother had another baby, and the arrival of that
child made them decide to stay in Geneva.
The rest of the chapter however, is devoted to recounting his love of science
Curiosity, earnest research to learn the hidden laws of nature,
Gladness akin to rapture, as they were unfolded to me, are among
The earliest sensations I can remember (Chapter 2, pg 40).
Victor soon starts reading the writings of alchemists such as Cornelius Agrippa, a medieval scientist
whose teachings were exploded by Frankenstein s time. These readings were what would ultimately
lead to his downfall. Eventually, after discovering the science of electricity, he stops studying Agrippa,
and begins to study mathematics instead, but fate as he puts it, brought him back to the field of
science. Frankenstein, in the first two chapters, keeps referring to his imminent doom, and his fate,
which begins with the bringing to life of his creation in chapter 5.
At the age of seventeen Victor leaves his family in Geneva to finish his studies at Ingolstadt
University. Just before he departs, his mother catches scarlet fever from Elizabeth, who she had been
nursing back to health. This

A Summary On The Book Leonidas Essay
Chapter One
Leonidas needed a way to die.
He ran straight at the cave wall, head first, and bashed himself senseless. At least, he vaguely
remembered doing that when he woke up with his scaly dragon face flat on the floor. It was stupid, but
it was worth a try. His wyvern form was even tougher than his normal bullet proof skin and inherent
dragon healing powers. He d tried slashing his wrists, but his fae runes just scurried to heal them. He
could keep re cutting, but when he passed out from the blood loss, the wounds would heal, and he d
wake up still very much alive. Repeated attempts just kept him out longer while his blood regenerated.
It was fucking hard to kill a dragon.
He dragged his sorry wyvern ass up to front of the cave ti was a pocket of mountain he d carved out
over a decade ago, once he got close to the end of his days. At least he d made it to his tomb before he
lost his mind entirely, which meant Rosalyn was safe from his wyvern s savage need to take her by
force, seal her with his dragonfire, and then rape her until he impregnated her with his child. A
shudder ran through him with that horrifying thought. He d flown away from the keep as fast as he
could, then he d thrown up the protection runes around his tomb that would forever lock his beast
inside. His wyvern, with its beastly mindlessness, would be trapped, unable to open the magic cage he
d summoned.
The only problem? Half a day had passed, and he was still in his right mind.
Leonidas sat at the lip

  • 2. Identity And Sense Of Homosexuality My first inkling that something was different was when I went on the Internet this morning and ended up consuming video after video, reading articles, comments, and posts. I have been sitting on the computer for who knows how long now, and it s clear to me that the majority of the world is homosexual, with it being universally accepted and widely preferred. Heterosexuality was a minority and therefore, so was I. Sure, I ve been aware that people dislike differences and seek similarities, but being on the receiving end of vitriol, hate and prejudice makes you question your very own sense of being and individuality. Reading and watching content on the internet was making me feel horrible about myself. Don t get me wrong, there is a lot of positive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea is that self complexity can buffer threats and aid in building resilience and balance, and this affect can spread across domains when one has better interconnected domains. For example, someone who sees themselves as a mother, a lawyer, a wife, a martial artist etc. From what I ve experienced online so far, heterosexuals are condensed into just that one defining domain which influences the way others treat them and consequently the way they see themselves, and a lack of self complexity like that can leave you vulnerable to stressors and ultimately lead to anxiety and depression. The Social Identity Theory (Tajfel, 1974), the idea that we learn about the self through our memberships in certain groups, is also a huge factor in the formation of an identity. Before, when heterosexuality was the majority, I never gave much thought to my sexuality, it just was what it was. The thing is, that s still true, it s what it is. But now there seems to be so many connotations and attributions linked to heterosexuality that I almost wish it was a choice because my thoughts are mostly made up of confusion and the feelings of unacceptance, fear of being ostracized, and being seen as Other . Just reading about the way some people feel about heterosexuality made me feel anxious about the prospect that every single person in my life has the potential to shun me, maybe even hate me once they ... These nations now pose a threat to the many industries still stuck in their old ways. One industry in particular is the American auto industry that has seen a large fall in their earnings. Japan is one nation who has revolutionized the auto industry through Toyota. The world is growing and with this growth we see a need for energy and with it has come a high price at the pump. Ford seems to be attempting to do just that with its recent hiring Moray Callum, previous general manager of design at Mazda Motor Corp. Callum is credited with reviving Mazda s product portfolio (The Wall Street Journal, 5/1/2006). Beyond planning, cutting costs, globalization these automakers need leadership. In the long run we may see new technologies that improve the American auto industry s power but for now what the industry is a leadership. In recent months ford hired a number of new executives to head key areas related to North American operations, such as product development, marketing, engineering and manufacturing. GM has done the same. One person shaking things up at GM is their newest director, Jerome York. The 67 year old former auto executive has helped engineer turnarounds at Chrysler and International Business Machines Corp. He has been going over financial statements, seeking new engines and transmissions, and has even met with GM s labor relations executives to deal with the tense negotiations with the United Auto Workers, which is another ongoing problem for the company. Outside directors are increasingly looking to him to set the tone and agenda (The Wall Street Journal, 5/1/2006). That is what GM needs, leadership that understands the automobile business and is willing to fight for survival. • 4. Gender Stereotypes In The Film Milk True equality means holding everyone accountable in the same way, regardless of race, gender, faith, ethnicity or political ideology. (Monica Crowley) Two ideas that have been discussed in this gender unit were, one, we talked about how everyone has a different gender according to how they are. The second idea was that people shouldn t be defined by their sex at birth, you should be defined by your personality and how you express it. One main reason that Stephens should teach this unit next year is because I feel like people, specifically boys, should be more open about their feelings, so it won t build up and eventually burst open like a bubble. One of the sources we examined was The Mask You Live In (Jennifer Newson). This documentary showed that boys have tendencies to hide their true emotion because society marks boys as masculine , tough , and that crying shows signs of weakness. Harvey ran and won for supervisor for San Francisco, although it did take him 4 tries to do it he didn t give up, because of that it allowed many people of the gay community to come out per say. This ties into my opinion because Harvey Milk was criticized for being gay, but that didn t stop him from achieving his goal. People might be intimidated to do things of criticism. Their presence, their energy, their ideology was desperately needed during a difficult time of oppression. Some feminine acts of oppression are still frowned upon today as a form of oppression. I would rather be a bad feminist then to not a feminist at all , a quote by Roxanne Gay, but in this generation why should feminists have to choose between being a good or bad feminist? • 7. Motherhood, the Needle and Thread Think of one person you can turn to for advice, expect love and warmth from, or tell you who you should be dating. In most cases one s mother or a mother figure would spring into their minds. Motherhood is and underlying theme that affects all characters in both Persepolis and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Essentially, it highlights the unfair treatment directed towards women in their countries. During the course of both novels all women, even those who were not mothers, are burdened with the strict morals imposed upon them. For instance, Marjane had issues with staying true to herself and Laila had difficulties with raising her daughter Aziza and son Zalmai. These religious and governmental restrictions enforced upon women by men facilitated in painting a clear portrayal of sacrifice, strength and love that women and mothers needed to attain in order to survive. Despite the prevalence of a masculine dominant society, the true importance of motherhood and femininity prevails; binding the novels Persepolis and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Relative to both novels, motherhood can be assigned an all encompassing definition. Motherhood is the feeling of warmth, cultural memory, and freedom; it is willing to sacrifice anything for the betterment of the child. One does not have to physically bare an offspring to be considered a mother. To embrace the characteristics of motherhood means presenting ultimate love and affection and using complete agency when raising the child. Maternity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Forms Or Universals As human beings we are confronted every day with a physical and real world, most of us would not question the legitimacy or the existence of the things that we encounter on a daily basis. but, what is reality? where does it take place? Is reality independent or dependent on our thinking and perceptions? Philosophers have struggled to answer these questions, Plato s most influential theory is specifically an attempt to establish the place in which reality transpires. This theory is known as the theory of Forms or Universals. Plato believes that the physical world where humans dwell is not a real world, for Plato true reality exists beyond our objective world. He is also a dualist, he believes there are two worlds but you cannot separate the reality, in other words, there is only one world. In his dialogue with Parmenides Plato presents the idea that universals are unique while at the same time sharing some sort of the distinctiveness of what Parmenides understands as being. But universals are in many places at once and in many shapes but without losing its Form. He does the same process as he presents the idea of being different. Plato meets Parmenides own grounds, by showing that not because you are not something it means that you lose your status of being, but in reality, you are just different.(164 172) In the case of Heraclitus, he argued that what is real is in total flux. He believes that we cannot have the absolute truth or knowledge that Plato is presenting through the theory of Forms but rather believes that everything is in universal flux. So, if things are changing how is it possible to know something based on appearances. In his own words, you cannot step in the same river twice. The water you step in the first time is not there anymore, so you cannot bring the past back, change is the way of truth. In simple words, truth is in a constant state of being and not being. ... The colors of unknown acid 3 matches the colors of test tube 1, with thymol blue being light pink, malachite green being dark green and crystal violet being cyan. Comparing it to other 3 test tubes, test tube 2 has a similar result. Both test tube 3 and 4 have higher Ph than 1 and 2, since thymol blue is yellow and crystal violet is purple in test tube 3, rose and blue in test tube 4. Crystal violet is green in test tube 2, which shows that it has a lower ph than test tube 1. So, the order of acidity from most acidic to least acidic is 2143. Dichloroacetic acid is the second strongest in those 4 acids; this suggests that unknown acid 3 is dichloroacetic acid. Each of these religions have a direct link to Abraham; thus being called the Abrahamic Religions. Judaism is linked to Abraham as he is proclaimed as the Patriarch of the Jewish people and the Father of the Covenant. • 20. Essay on Plato s Symposium Though not as philosophical as many of Plato s other works, The Symposium gives a greater in depth account and characterization into the social life of the intellectual circles in Ancient Greece. The eulogies from each of the philosophers at the discussion examine the origins and theories of love in its many forms. Several of the theories and themes discussed in The Symposium are repeated as well as contrasted by each of the orators. The themes of physical love and lust, and reproduction are most notably discussed and compared within each speech. The ideas of physical love, or the lusting for body rather than mind, are discussed within the speakers and related to their own physical loves as compared to their intellectual loves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Agathon s eulogy, he praises the actual god that is Love, and speaks of the virtues of Love rather than the natures. Within these virtues is moderation, and he states that love has the biggest share of moderation. It is generally agreed that moderation is the mastery of pleasures and desires, and that no pleasure is stronger than Love...if Love masters pleasures and desires, he must be exceptionally moderate, (30.196c). This continues further on the ideas of the pleasure received purely from physical love are inferior and must be practiced in moderation. Socrates closes on the discussion of physical love and lust in his discussion. He concludes that physical love is not love at all because, desire and love are directed at what you don t have, what isn t there, and what you need, (35.200e). Since one can never be in the possession of love, then love can not be held in the single physical act of lust and pleasure. Each orator discusses the inferiority of the purely physical acts of love and as they continue, each discussion delves further into the inadequacy of love without intellect. As with the aspects of physical love and lust within humans, the ideas of reproduction permeate throughout The Symposium. In Aristophanes address, he discusses the history of love in the ... Swot Analysis Walgreens Walgreens When forming Walgreens in 1901, Mr. Charles Rudolph Walgreen had a vision of changing drugstores from humdrum fronts to actual businesses that imparted value to customers. He had worked in pharmacies before, and he had a vision of what he wanted. However, even he would not have known that it would grow to the behemoth it is now. The company is the biggest drug distributor in the United States and its territories. Its headquarters are still in Chicago, and it has survived in a pharmaceutical industry that has sometimes proved to be tempestuous. In this paper, the writer shall look at the industry and how the firm has operated in it. It shall also investigate Walgreens rivals and present an analysis. Position in the Industry The firm brings in over $76 billion dollars in revenue. Those are figures from 2014, and as it goes global, the figures will rise. It currently has more than 8,217 locations in the country and growing. After it has completed the buying and integration with Alliance Boots, a Swiss company, that roster is going to increase. The company is not just bringing in money; it has been in the black for most of its existence. Last year it had profits upwards of $ 1 billion. • 27. Messenger Protein Synthesis Genes are transcribed to yield one of three types of RNA. These RNA types include messenger RNA (mRNA), transfer RNA (tRNA), and ribosomal RNA (rRNA). Messenger RNA carries the genetic instructions needed to manufacture polypeptides. Messenger RNA is absolutely necessary, because genes cannot leave the nucleus. They pass their information to mRNA, which transports that information to the cytoplasm, where protein synthesis occurs at the ribosome. Protein synthesis is the manufacturing of functional polypeptides in the cytoplasm. Protein synthesis occurs through the process of translation. Translation is the formation of a chain of amino acids by using the instructions a messenger RNA strand provides. This process takes place at the ribosome. The codons of an mRNA strand carry the instructions in triplets of bases of the coding strand of the gene. Each codon encodes a specific amino acid to be installed into the growing polypeptide chain. During translation, the sequence of codons will dictate the sequence of amino acids in the protein. The amino acids are delivered to the ribosome by transfer RNA, a fairly small and mobile type of RNA. Each transfer RNA molecule attaches and transports a specific amino acid. ... This loop contains 3 bases that can pair complementarily with an appropriate codon in the mRNA. While several high level reviews by regulators and others have acknowledged that the internal audit function and the oversight of internal controls has become an important responsibility of boards, the implications of this for internal audit have not always been followed through. Thus in the US, the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 makes no mention of internal audit, or of any equivalent role other than the board s role generally in the preparation of the accounts and the setting of accounting standards. • 40. Criminal Prosecution And The Judicial Process Criminal prosecution develops through various stages in the judicial process beginning with the arrest of an individual and ending at a point before, during, or after a trial. The criminal procedure is based on the constitutional laws, statues, and court rulings that are meant to render justice in a criminal case. The government must follow these procedures during the entirety of a criminal case. Beginning with the initial investigation of an individual suspected of a crime, through the arrest, jailing, arraignment, and thereafter. Although they must act within the boundaries of the law and protect an individual s right to the 4th amendment of the constitution, police officers are allowed to conduct investigations, perform search and seizures, and arrest individuals that are suspected of a crime. Police officers do not need justification to stop someone and question them, but in order to search an individual a police officer must have probable cause. In order to make an arrest, the officer must either observe an individual committing a crime, have probable cause that a crime has been committed by that person, or have a valid arrest warrant. There is no scale to measure what probable cause is, so at the time of arrest, this is completely at the officer s discretion. This can cause officers to subdue the wrong individuals or make faulty decisions. Judges have the final say on what constitutes probable cause, and police officers must be able to ultimately justify their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When Victor was seven, his mother had another baby, and the arrival of that child made them decide to stay in Geneva. Victor soon starts reading the writings of alchemists such as Cornelius Agrippa, a medieval scientist whose teachings were exploded by Frankenstein s time. These readings were what would ultimately lead to his downfall. Eventually, after discovering the science of electricity, he stops studying Agrippa, and begins to study mathematics instead, but fate as he puts it, brought him back to the field of science. Frankenstein, in the first two chapters, keeps referring to his imminent doom, and his fate, which begins with the bringing to life of his creation in chapter 5. At the age of seventeen Victor leaves his family in Geneva to finish his studies at Ingolstadt University. Just before he departs, his mother catches scarlet fever from Elizabeth, who she had been nursing back to health. This

  • 43. A Summary On The Book Leonidas Essay Chapter One Leonidas needed a way to die. He ran straight at the cave wall, head first, and bashed himself senseless. At least, he vaguely remembered doing that when he woke up with his scaly dragon face flat on the floor. It was stupid, but it was worth a try. His wyvern form was even tougher than his normal bullet proof skin and inherent dragon healing powers. He d tried slashing his wrists, but his fae runes just scurried to heal them. He could keep re cutting, but when he passed out from the blood loss, the wounds would heal, and he d wake up still very much alive. Repeated attempts just kept him out longer while his blood regenerated. It was fucking hard to kill a dragon. He dragged his sorry wyvern ass up to front of the cave ti was a pocket of mountain he d carved out over a decade ago, once he got close to the end of his days. At least he d made it to his tomb before he lost his mind entirely, which meant Rosalyn was safe from his wyvern s savage need to take her by force, seal her with his dragonfire, and then rape her until he impregnated her with his child. A shudder ran through him with that horrifying thought. He d flown away from the keep as fast as he could, then he d thrown up the protection runes around his tomb that would forever lock his beast inside. His wyvern, with its beastly mindlessness, would be trapped, unable to open the magic cage he d summoned. The only problem? Half a day had passed, and he was still in his right mind.
