Total War During World War II
Definition:
What is meant by the concept of Total War? Total war is best described as a country s 100%
effort. All means of production and accomplishment are geared towards what is the best way to
win a war.
How was WWII the maximum example of Total War? Most Allies and Axis countries, namely
Germany, had geared their economy towards pouring all their resources into the attempt of winning
the war. In no other war was this done as much as it was during World War II.
Mass Produced Warfare:
Compare the military production of the various major Allied and Axis powersduring WWII. What
observations can you make about the outcome of the war based on this information? There are
many ways of defining military production, but in the broadest way, ... Show more content on

By not taking in other factors, and by looking at production amounts only, it is obvious that the
Allies would win. There was no means of resources that the Axis powers excelled in, and had few
people who fought in the war. Both sides of the war had at this time undergone industrial
revolutions, had at least somewhat equal caliber machinery. This means that it would be almost
physically impossible for the Axis to defeat the Allies.
Strategic Bombing:
What do the websites say about the effectiveness of bombing campaigns in disrupting the war
effort of the Axis during WWII? According to the majority of the information on the websites,
the bombing campaigns put in place by the Allies were not very effective. The main goal of the
bombing campaigns were to break the morale of the Axis citizens, specifically Germany. This
was done by instead of fully wiping out cities, leaving them only half damaged to show the
power of the armies. However, these bombings did little to no damage to the will of Germans.
People still were willing to support the Nazi cause. The German economy was very much
destroyed, thanks to the bombing efforts, but military production was still proceeding, as the
Germans were prepared for the Total War involved. It is also stated that as a result of the
bombings, Germany s mobility was shrunken, as they could not move as fast as they wanted.
What about the collateral damage involved? The amount of collateral damage that the

Legal Business Practices in the United States and Korea Essay
Introduction The purpose of this paper is to describe business practice in detail and provide a
comparison of South Korea with that of the United States in regard to business practices. The
researcher will define ethical and legal business practice as well as unethical and illegal business
practices. Furthermore, the researcher will identify business practices that are considered illegal
and unethical in the United States and address why these same practices are considered legal and
ethical in South Korea. Finally, the researcher will provide a course of actions to deal with the
difference in ethical and legal practices when transacting business with a country that has different
standards. Describe Business Practice According to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

given in order to receive preferential treat and/or to sway decisions, views, and opinions in favor

or promised, or any preferment, advantage, privilege or, emolument, given or promised corruptly
and against public capacity to violate or forbear from his duty, or to improperly influence his
behavior in performance of his duty. (p. 128). The business practice of bribery is not a new or
unique concept to South Koreans. Chang, C., Chang, A., Freese (2001) identifies situations in
which businesses are forced to pay government officials and person in influential positions in order
to obtain business permits and licenses, inspection certificates, certifications for operating and
occupancy. Bribery is one of the most common practiced patterns of conducting business in South
Korea and it is vital to Korean business. It is crucial for outside businesses entering into the Korea
marketplace to learn how to deal with bribery if they want to successfully enter and remain in the

Lender Liability and the Duty of Good Faith
Lender Liability and the Duty of Good Faith I.Introduction From time to time, lenders and their
attorneys announce that lender liability is no longer an issue with which the lending community
needs to be concerned. What usually prompts this proclamation of the death of lender liability is
a recent case in which a court has summarily rejected a borrower s claim that the lender violated
the duty of good faith and fair dealing. Many courts have rejected borrowers lawsuits which are
based on allegations of the violation of the lender s duty of good faith. Nevertheless, lender
liability should continue to be an area of concern to lenders. Although courts often dismiss cases
based on a borrower s claims of lender bad faith, in other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Then a discussion of the objective and subjective test of good faith will take place before finally
concluding that the good faith obligation should not be imposed in debtor creditor situations to
override express terms of a contract. II.The U.C.C. A.The Good Faith Performance Obligation
and the U.C.C. The central provision of the U.C.C. s good faith requirement is found in В§ 1
203, which provides that every contract or duty within this Act imposes an obligation of good
faith in its performance or enforcement. With regard to debtor creditor relationships in particular,
this obligation of good faith performance imposes on a lender a duty to deal in good faith with its
borrower in all situations, not only in situations where, because of the circumstances of the loan,
the lender has assumed actual control over and a fiduciary responsibility for the borrower. One
troublesome but important aspect of the good faith performance obligation is its application to
contracts, which provide that one party to the contract may, in its sole discretion, take certain
actions pursuant to the contract. In such cases, the actions of the party who can exercise its
discretion may affect all parties to the contract, and dependent parties must rely on the good faith
of the party given the right to exercise its discretion. Often, the discretion exercised by the party in
control will adversely affect the dependent party. However, it does not necessarily follow that

SOCIAL STIGMA
Social stigma is the extreme disapproval of (or discontent with) a person or group on socially
characteristic grounds that are perceived, and serve to distinguish them, from other members of a
society. Stigma may then be affixed to such a person, by the greater society, who differs from their
cultural norms.Social stigma can result from the perception (rightly or wrongly) of mental illness,
physical disabilities, diseases such as leprosy, illegitimacy, sexual orientation, gender identity, skin

Essay on Frank Lucas; American Gangster
Frank Lucas; American Gangster What is the one thing every person, white or black, rich or poor,
American or Hispanic, wants to have plenty of in their possession? If it s green, flimsy paper with
different values on the front then money is the answer. Whether it s 19th Century, 20th Century, or
21st Century, people work, steal, worship money. Human beings aren t always satisfied with the
amount of money they have, so they work harder, steal, rob, or cheat hoping to satisfy their money
obsession. This describes the efforts and actions of an American Gangsternamed Frank Lucas.

Both Satan and Frank Lucas give the reader and audience an intrigue that is likeable. Frank Lucas
has this way of carrying himself as the man around town, no one messes with him but fear him.
That s power that people are gravitated towards to like, being the center of the world. Also this
intrigue rubs off onto Frank s brothers. They are canceling there dreams in there mind because
they want what Frank has, rich and fame. Satan also has that feature. The way he believes he
can be equal to God makes you feel his confidence. You are intrigued in his decision making and
are curious to see if he succeeds. He also is good at rubbing this business of his to other angels
who end up following him. People look up to them and want what they have. In the end, both
Frank Lucas and Satan have the urge to be the most powerful person, have it all, but don t
succeed like they had hoped. Frank Lucas gets caught and put in jail, and Satan has to keep
wishing he could have equaled the Most High (1. 40). While they are both hated by the world they

Disneyland Resort Paris: a development after understanding local cultures
The case Disneyland Resort Paris: Mickey Goes to Europe introduced readers to the development
of Disneyland Paris during fifteen years. Even though Disneyland Paris had a terrible start in 1994,
it had a great improvement and bright future in 2007. The reason for its failure and success is the
same: culture. Forgetting to respect local culture caused Disneyland to lose market and revenue in

Magwitch s Manipulations of Pip in Great Expectations Essay
Magwitch s Manipulations of Pip in Great Expectations
In Great Expectations, Charles Dickens criticizes the motivation of the lower classes to rise to the
level of wealth and education held by the upper classes by showing the extent to which Pip is
exploited by Magwitch to meet these goals. To meet the expectations of the gentleman, Pip must
leave his family and any possibility of earning his living in order to satisfy the educational and
societal demands of this standard. Magwitch, a social deviant, hopes to prove his viability by
using his unfortunate circumstances to produce a gentleman entirely by his own effort. Magwitch
exhibits Pip to the world as a gentleman who is not hardened by labor, but he does so by his ... Show

The title of gentleman therefore denotes one who passes his time idly without and obligation or
responsibility besides remaining socially amiable. The emergence of the middle class in the
nineteenth century allowed people not of noble birth to enter the ranks of gentility. Becoming an
educated and morally noble gentleman had come within the reach of those who had previously
been excluded. Industry made it possible for someone of the working class to elevate his social
position through his own efforts. This new definition of the gentleman had a great appeal among
the emerging middle class because high birth, the traditional passport to recognition as a gentleman,
could be side stepped at least in theory (Platz 152). This new opportunity created a split between the
traditional upper classes and the newly established English bourgeoisie. Dickens recognized the
paradoxical aspiration toward the position of an idle gentleman through labor. Obtaining the
appearance of a gentleman became more important than the means by which the facade is
constructed. Platz writes, Dickens Great Expectations can be interpreted as an attempt to dismantle
both the legitimacy and symbolic authority of the gentleman (162). Pip deceives himself by

Patient Protection And Affordable Care Act
H.R. 3590 (111th): Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
When president Obama was a candidate in the 2008 election he promised wide scale health care
reform that would increase the availability and affordability of medical insurance for a large
portion of the American population. At the time of his campaign, millions of low income
Americans were stuck in the Medicaid gap where they could not afford health insurance, but also
were not eligible for the joint state and federal government Medicaid program. This promise
eventually became the bill later named the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that was
passed by the senate on December 24, 2010. The bill s policy seeks to expand health care coverage

Of those people many were considered below the poverty threshold, however due to strict state
regulations these individuals or families did not qualify for insurance through Medicaid. As a
result, when these Americans needed to be seen by doctors, insured tax paying American s
would be stuck with their bills. In order to alleviate this problem, president Obama decided to
lead a major campaign to increase the affordability of health care. Through draft bills in the
house and senate, the Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as Obama Care, covers a large
portion of Americans who before it became a law would be left without insurance. The bill has
two main parts making healthcare affordable to low income families and increasing the scope of
Medicaid eligibility. Before ObamaCare, families and individuals who were not covered by
employers for healthcare had to seek out insurance on their own. This task proved very difficult
as insurance providers charged steep prices for coverage. In short, health care coverage was not
affordable to a large portion of the population. The law seeks to cover Americans who are
between 138% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Level. They can sign up for Health Care via a
government run website, which will allow them to choose a plan that best suits their needs. A
formula will then decide based on their state how much a plan will cost for them as well as how

capital stock of the employer or of any other corporation that is related to the employer,
(b) does not deal at arm s length with the employer.
There are important tax considerations for an IPP. Rules dictate the taxdeductible amounts with
respect to contributions for both past and current service benefits and annual withdrawals. These
are more closely discussed below.
Taxation Considerations
(A)Tax Deductible Contributions and other considerations
Subject to certain conditions, registered pension plan (e.g. IPP) contributions by employers are
deductible for the employer (during the year or within 120 days after year end) for purposes of
computing taxable income subject to certain conditions. Generally, prescribed contributions are
eligible for deductibility; however, rules governing these contributions are limited in scope to
defined RPPs and not applicable to designated plans which more often that not, an IPP is.
Therefore, in order for employer IPP contributions to be eligible for deduction, they must satisfy
certain prescribed conditions as set forth in subsection 147.2(2). To reiterate an earlier point, in
effort by the government to eliminate aggressive tax minimization through deduction schemes, the
prescribed conditions aim to restrict aggressive funding of individual pension plans without regard
for the funded status of the plan. . One way the CRA achieves this

The Teachings Of The Bible
The definition of faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see . My
definition of faith is that it s your spiritual beliefs and it s a strong belief in a personal God . My
religion is Christianity . I believe that God has revealed himself and can be known in a personal
way in life . When we have JesusChrist we do not focus on the religious rituals or performing good
works , we enjoy getting a relationship with Godand growing a powerful bond so that we can get to
know him better . The Bibleis the account of God s action in the world , and his purpose with all
creation .The Bible contains the message God desired . I believe that the Bible was written as a
message to humankind to guide us in the right path to success. I believe the Bible is inspiration .
It s inerrant and infallible meaning it s without error and unable to fail. The Holy Bible is the
only accurate Bible from the word of God . It determines all the doctrinal truths . God is existent
in three persons Father , Son (Jesus ) and the Holy Spirit . They are coequal and co eternal . The
Holy Spirit is filled beyond the limit because God was the only person to live a sinless life . A
scripture I grew up on was The Lord is my Shepherd , I shall not want comes from the 23rd
Psalm and the Old Testament. The scripture means that they had the lord as they shepherd and we
will not lack the basic needs of life : like food , shelter , and clothing. Instead of going insane about

Fire and Ice by Robert Frost Essay example
Fire and Ice by Robert Frost
The poem Fire and Ice is a poem written by Robert Frost, and published in 1923. This is a nine line
poem:
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I have tasted of desire,
I hold those who favor ice.
But if I had to parish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice

And would suffice. This is one of Robert Frost simplest poems. When I initially read this poem, the
first thing that came to my mind was the biblical theory. In the second line Some say in ice

I was thinking that Frost wanted to basically put a question on our minds, If you had to choose a
way to die would you choose fire or ice? In lines seven through nine, To say that destruction ice is
also great and would suffice . To me this is saying you would have to choose the lesser of the two
evils. Weighting the pros and cons of the two. Asking which one is better for you, a cold slow
death or a hot slow death. But in the end of the poem Frost is saying the no matter which one he
picks they are both going to give you the same results, death. To analyze the poem better I took
each word as if it symbolized a certain characteristic. In lines three and four, From what I ve
tasted of desire I hold those who favor fire it led me to believe that Frost was trying to use desire
as a metaphor to fire. Desire, can usually be used a negative or a positive manner depending on
the context it s use. In the poem I think that Frost is using it in a negative sense, because he is
uses words like end, perish, and destruction in the poem. Negatively the word desire can mean
the drive to win or receive something at any cost, the urge for power, which is very destructive.
In lines six and nine I think I know enough of hate to say that for destruction ice is also great and
would suffice . Saying that ice is a metaphor to hate. The word hate is worldly known to have a
negative condensation. Hate is also

Iago s Motives
In the story Othello, Iago is a very fascinating character. In many ways, he could be viewed as the

to relate to the other characters allow him to set up a trap for them that ultimately leads them to do
evil things. Iagois the most evil of all considerable villans because of his lack of reasoning, which

A Feasibility Study Example
A respectable business is always looking for ways to better serve their customers, especially a
cooperative, but this is sometimes easier said than done. To help determine how achievable a
better service would be for a business a feasibility study is often preformed. The Farmers
Cooperative Association of Snyder, OK is interested in purchasing an automatic truckprobe as well
as building an additional receiving pit and leg to attach to the existing wheat tanks. So, a
feasibility study was preformed to determine if either option would be a practical investment. The

It would also allow for samples to be taken from several different locations on the truck.
Furthermore, having an automatic probe takes out an employ which allows for that money to
benefit the membership of the co op thus allowing the co op to give better service to the customers.
The main risk in this investment would be the ability to afford the cost of a probe. With the wheat
market deteriorating the possibility going into the hole on this investment increases drastically.
Damage to the probe is also a possibility, and a additional expense that could make the probe less
profitable. But in this case the benefits seem to outweigh the risks making this investment one to
consider to better serve the customer. After some research was done on the automatictruck probe
the focus was shifted to the addition of a new receiving pit and leg. Pitcock Supply Inc. was
contacted by the intern for a quote and they sent out an agent to take measurements for the
location and get all the specifics. The quote allowed for a 15,000 BPH Schlagel conveyor,
concrete pit, concrete pad, and a Schlagel distributer. The total which included labor, misc.
equipment, rentals, paint, freight, a crane, and insurance came to $304,698.55. An investment of
this size usually comes with risks to match, therefor it is imperative to consider. Looking at the
figure above, it is easy to see what an enormous risk this would be for the co op. If the cost was

There was a need for the people to gather like this because Marcos famous implementation of
Martial Law led to the deaths of several thousands of Filipinos. This regulation suspended
several of the rights of the Filipinos and granted Marcos the free use of military power, which he
did, against any who opposed him. The act of civil disobedience, which was basically
exemplified through the People Power Revolution, also brings in with itself, some benefits and
detriments. The benefit to this is that one may get the opportunity he/she is asking for through the
resistance formed against the government like the People Power Revolution. The Filipinos here

Examples Of Forgiveness In The Tempest
The Tempest was published in 1623 and is considered one of the last plays of William
Shakespeare. This play is accepted as virtuous as Prospero, the protagonist, rises above his own
problems and dark depths of disturbance and pain to attain a level of tranquility. His mind elevates
to such levels that human frailties do not worry him; it is this mental elevation of Prospero that
forms the theme of forgivenessof the play.
After the shipwreck, we find Alonso in a lot of stress and mood of despair reaching to the level
of insanity. Alonso had totally forgotten about the sins and had no guilt for the wrong committed
by him, Prospero was pleased with the profound success of what he had set out to do as revenge.

Yet among the three sinners regeneration is evident in really true terms in Alonso alone. His
redemption begins soon after the loss of his son in the shipwreck. It is a nerve racking anguish of
a father. The hazy reflection over his past sins is brought into sharp focus when Ariel, in the shape
of a harpy, reminds him of his crimes against Prospero and Miranda twelve years ago. It is here
that his repentance becomes both intense and genuine. This redemption and repentance is, however,
not visible in the other two sinners. Sebastian is a minor character, so Shakespeare passes lightly
over his psychological insights and elevation but Antonio is a major character, and his crime is worst
of the three, since he betrays a generously trusting brother. Though he returns Prospero his dukedom

Medieval Chivalry Essay
Western Civilization
Medieval Chivalry and Knighthood
During medieval times knighthood was a class culture, cherished and jealousy guarded by the
knightly caste. Knight had the honor of defending the king as well as their country. On the
bloody fields of battle a code of chivalry evolved that tempered anger and fury with mercy. It
created ways of turning the grim business of fighting into something tolerable, perhaps even
acceptable. Chivalry was not only looked upon as a code for war; it was looked upon as a setting
for stories of love and romance. Chivalry meant a higher social status as well as recognition.
Chivalry as we know it denotes the ideals and practices considered suitable to be a noble. Over time
chivalry has been used as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Servants were taught exactly what it meant to be a knight. They were tight the responsibilities of
knighthood and what their duties exactly were in defending their lord.
Aside from the military training of a knight there was a certain set of manners and customs that
developed which is known as chivalry . Part of this was the cultivation of manners that should be
used in the courts. It furthered the idea of the social service as well as the ideas of loyalty, virtue
and generosity. It was the idea of noblesse oblige privileges, which came along with
responsibilities. Along with the courtly manners came the idea of romantic love and the chivalrous
devotion of a knight to his lady.
In the early history of knighthood there were two types of knights and two types of ceremonies
to convey honor. One of these knights was known as a knight of the sword; a knight who had
only been given an accolade. The other type was a knight who had been given a religious
ceremony before the accolade, these were known as knights of the bath.
There were also two ranks in dignity of knighthood. The first were youngsters aspiring to be
knights. They had to work for a prince or somebody f a high rank. The second rank was known as
the esquires. These men were

The Pros And Cons Of Creative Destruction
Joseph Schumpeter was one of the most famous author and economist in the 20th century. Among
his numerous findings, one stands out; creative destruction. Creation refers to disruptive
innovation on one side, while destruction alludes to the disappearance of some jobs, industries or
even sectors on the other. A popular example is transportation. When combustion engines were
invented, horse drawn vehicles suddenly became out of age. On the short term, there was a lot of
job destructions too. If there was no need for horse drawn vehicles, all adjacent sectors were hit
hard: horse breeders were probably left with less demand, horse drawn vehicles companies began to
lose their clientele. In creative destruction, neither does the creation part nor the destruction part
happen overnight. Before being affordable to the masses and cause the economic disruption
mentioned above, the auto industry had to undergo several incremental as opposed to disruptive
changes. Eventually, fordism, which has been a cause of destructive creation as well, came along
the way and created millions of jobs in the auto industry. When one looks at the jobs created
directly, indirectly with auto part suppliers, auto dealers and thanks to new trade opportunities
made possible by this new technology, it becomes obvious that if jobs losses can be painful, on the
long run, benefits from creation overweight its drawbacks. (Creative destruction, Ricardo Caballero,
MIT Economics)

The Party Exited the Courtyard
Minister Mike s party included Skylar, Ethan, Mr Pisher and a meager handful of the remaining
students each of whom tolerated the midday sun as they walked single file around the massive
Palace structure. The once magnificent lush grounds had turned into withering vegetation. Water
was scarce.
The new Government could not afford this luxurious expensive. Those who lived in the region did
not know why the devoted groundskeepers had recently abandoned their post. Soon, it would
become evident as Minister Mike s party continued around Egyptian style Palace.
The Babylon summer Palace was shaped in a U design, so when Minister Mike saw the balcony
above the first wing; he noticed Giselle by herself clutching the railing. She looked nauseated. He
wanted to say something. However, Mike felt it best to leave her alone.
Mike did not see Daniel ducking behind the balcony French door.
The Minister s party rounded the Palace. There they strolled into the three sided courtyard. Marble
terraced steps leaded from an Olympic size swimming pool to the main residence level. The scale
of the Saddam s Babylon Palace would rival those in Europe; mounted above the Babylon ruins, it
was easy to imagine the grand parties hosted poolside.
Now a drained pool sat eroding with desert debris. The diving board was scattered from its
mountings. It gave an eerie appearance to the dismal Palace grounds.
Skylar ascended the steps into the pool, and turn back to the Minister. She mimicked a

This is even the case during dinner on a Friday or Saturday night. The only exceptions to this time
are in the cases of large parties with more than six people. This was all found to be correct. Food is
served from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 a.m. and drinks until 2:00 a.m. (Barbara) After being seated
the servers are very quick to introduce themselves and accommodate you. They come right over
to you in just a couple of minutes to get drink and appetizer orders. They are very timely,
returning with the drinks ordered in just two or three minutes. Promptly they ask if a selection
has been made. If no decision has been made, the server is happy to check back in about 5
minutes to take the order. After taking the order, the servers will refill drinks whenever
necessary and ask if anything is needed. There aren t many chances for them to visit, however,
because the food comes to your table in about twenty minutes. At which time they will again fill
any drinks and get anything else that is asked for. If shrimp is ordered they might have to go
make some cocktail sauce because they don t keep it already made. But the servers are pleased
to make it. They also seem very delighted to check on the progress of the meal. They might make
about six or seven visits to the table in a little over an hour. Teamwork is something that

The Biblical Passage Of Jesus
Throughout the Gospel we are exposed to the notions of materialism and wealth and we can see
how it is easy for this emphasis on such temptations to colour and erode the spiritual priority that
should characterize the church (AG, 2014). In the biblical passage, Jesus reminds the rich young
man that obedience to the Ten Commandmentsis necessary in order to inherit eternal life . The
Commandments are essential points of reference if we are to live in love, to distinguish clearly
between good and evil, and to build a life plan that is solid and enduring. Jesus is asking us too,
whether we know the Commandments, whether we are trying to form our conscience according to
Gods law, and putting the Commandments into practice (Benedict XVI, 2010). The rich young
man was seeking to enter the eternal kingdom of heaven, and although he had kept the
Commandments, what was keeping the rich young man from spiritual perfection was his love
of money. As the apostle Paul wrote, For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some
people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many grief s
(1 Timothy 6:10). Jesus, who lived his life in humility and obscurity, never accumulating wealth or
possessions (AG, 2014), asked the young man, Go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and
then you will have treasure in heaven . Whatever is standing in our way, keeping us from
perfection and maturity is an obstacle that can keep us out of the kingdom of

Why Is College So Expensive If Students Are Paid So Little...
A Response to Michelle Chen A teacher has one of the most difficult and highest demanding
jobs in society. They are responsible for educating the future and giving their students the best
chance to succeed. However, many teachers and professors are not paid nearly as much as the
demands placed on them should indicate. Michelle Chen, in her piece from The Nation titled,
Why Is College So Expensive if Professors Are Paid So Little?, attempts to analyze the current
issues with professors wages in college and provide possible solutions. Although Chen presents
some solid ideas, her work suffers from her failure to address why college is so expensive, her
inability to provide more than one solution, and her overreliance on emotional aspects of the
conflict. In her essay, Chen states a few problems that can hardly be argued with: college is far
too expensive and professors are paid much too little. She focuses mostly on adjuncts, or part
time professors, as it is in this area that many of the problems reside. She writes, With student
debt and tuitions both ballooning across the country, a college degree is in many ways more
expensive or overvalued today than ever. Unfortunately, she fails to provide in depth analysis on
why college is so costly to begin with. It is because of this shortcoming that Chen s work is
much weaker as a whole. Firstly, her title becomes misleading, and makes her a possibly
untrustworthy source. Secondly, her failure to acknowledge the reasons why college is so
expensive cuts off an entire possibility of solutions. Addressing where all this money is being
spent could provide an easier and stronger solution than the one Chen provides. When discussing a
topic such as this, there are an abundance of possible solutions that are worth taking a look at.
Michelle Chen, however, only decides to closely examine one: unionization of faculty. She says,
[Layfield] hopes that organizing with her union for a fair contract can ensure future generations of
faculty will face a richer career horizon. While unionization is certainly not a bad idea, Chen puts
too much focus on this one solution. She fails to even acknowledge other possible solutions, such
as making cuts in administrative budgets

Why Is Nuclear Power Bad
Nuclear power: good or bad? Nuclear energy to create power has been used for hundreds of years.
Today nuclear energy powers almost 11% of the world. It produces nearly no greenhouse gases
or co2 emissions. But it does leave behind nuclear waste that stays radioactive for decades.
Nuclear energy has been used for many years, but there are goods and bads to Nuclear powerfrom
nuclear energy.
Nuclear Energy has a long history of Grief. Since 1942, Nuclear Energy has grown and spread
worldwide. The history of Nuclear Energy begins in 1942 when enrico Fermi created the first

this reactor by fission. Which is also used as the fuel to the atomic bomb, which came 3 years after

Fission can be controlled easier, that is why it is used the most. fission occurs by splitting an
atom, instead of putting two molecules by force at high speeds, and changing the atomic number
of the molecule. Fusion needs some requirements to occur, it needs high pressure and high
temperature, and at extreme levels to combine the Molecule. If this is tried, and is done wrong,
the damage could be devastating and even nuclear. This is a good source of power and has been
used for many years. Usually when they malfunction they are treated and nothing bad happens, but
if not treated, it could cause a nuclear meltdown, like what happened at 3 mile island on March
28th, 1979, and that s not good.
Nuclear Energy has many supporters around the world. The benefit of Nuclear Energy are clear
to many. People who are for Nuclear Energy, support it for many reasons. The outcome of
produced power can be changed, all you do is change the fuel entering the chain reactor (Page 11).
One main factor that puts nuclear energy on top is it lets out little air pollutants, greenhouse gases,
smog, slows global warming, and helps limit acid rain (Sally

The KPMG International Survey provides data that indicates that sustainability reporting is going
mainstream, found that among the world s largest 250 companies, the CSR reporting rate is more

transparency by publishing sustainability reports, but sometimes the report alone is not enough to
satisfy stakeholders and that is why many companies also attach an assurance statement. Assurance
statements are issued by a third party, such as Ernst Young or KPMG, which validates, gives

Communication Gap Between Generation Y And The Baby Boomer...
This paper reviews an article written by Elza Venter from the Department of Psychology of
Education at the University of South Africa. The article is titled Bridging the communication gap
between Generation Y and the Baby Boomer generation.
The article examines the generational communication gap between generation Y and the Baby
Boomer generation with the intention to suggest ways to bridge the gap. Venter (2016) argues that
meaningful communication between the two generations is important because they have connected
channels of communication and the two can give meaning to each other s lives. For instance, Baby
Boomer are the parents, employers, lecturers and teachers of Generation Y (Venter, 2016: 2).
However, the two generations do not always maintain good channels of communication. According
to Venter (2016) the baby boomer generation and Generation Y often times find themselves engaged
in conflict as a result generational differences.
In order to understand the communication gap between the two generations, Venter (2016) studied
interpersonal communication style of the each generation. The author found that Generation Y and
the Baby Boomer generation value different communication styles and that creates a
communication gap between the two generations.
According to Venter (2016) the main differences in the two generations communications styles can
be summarised as follows:
Members of Generation Y are called digital natives because this generation grew up using

An Overview Of Business Intelligence
An Overview of Business Intelligence All great organizations share one thing in common, the use of
business intelligence. Business intelligence (BI) provides tools that revolutionize the way
organizations manage business and decision making. It allows them to transform mass amounts of
raw data into reliable information necessary to make important business decisions. BI delivers
relevant and reliable information to those who seek it with the goal of achieving better decisions
faster. An employee is independently able to navigate through a company s data and find what he
or she needs without relying on others. This means an organization no longer needs to dig through
compiled webs of linked spreadsheets, analyze the data manually and mash together reports.
Instead, employees can use BI systems to request the specific information that is useful for them
(Hitachi Solutions Canada, 2014). BI allows managers to reach the most accurate and
contemporaneous information an organization s database cannot retrieve. The software offers
applications for both data analysis and presentation of results. Applications such as data mining and
decision support systems allow one to contemplate how he or she wants to analyze the data. Data
mining refers to the process of searching for valuable business information in a large database, data
warehouse, or data mart. Decision support systems combine models and data in an attempt to

Decentralization Essay
2.3.1.Processes
The process of decentralization redefines structures, procedures and practices of governance to be
closer to the citizenry and to make them more aware of the costs and benefits; it is not merely a
movement of power from the central to the local government. It is the central government has to
make some effort for the enactment of legislation.
According to Korea reforms in 1991, the central government established legislation on the powers
of central administration and the promotion of transfer of power to the local government. This
legislation enabled a creation of a council that would evaluate case by case, the powers of the
central government and the powers of the wide range local government body, which is to promote

Even when it happens slowly, there is a need for experimentation, testing, adjusting, and replicating
successful experiments in other contexts. Decentralization should not be considered as a process,
but a way of life and a state of mind based on the principles of freedom respect and participation.
Above all it is trusting and recognizing that people are capable of managing their affairs the need to
close the gaps and differences between all levels of governance through interaction and sharing
decentralization as consisting of interlocking rings of responsibilities from the center to the
community. Decentralization should not be imposed, but that people should be imposed, but that
people should be exposed to it, thereby honoring their intelligence and respecting their
independence. Therefore, it is principally different from a federal system. The word transfer shows
that the authority of the local governments retained is coming from the central government. It is a
power that being delegated from the higher level of government. On the contrary, constitutional law
in a federal system has divided the spheres of the power which each tier of government gets. In
other words, the power in federalism, which each level of governments has, including the local
governments, comes from the constitutional law and therefore cannot easily be revoked as in

Much of this success was due to the systematic planned mobilisation of women, as workers,
soldiers and housewives, enforced after December 1941 by conscription. The women supported the
war effort, and made the rationing of consumer goods a success. In some ways, the government
over responded, evacuating too many children in the first days of the war, closing cinemas as
frivolous then reopening them when the need for cheap entertainment was clear, sacrificing

Jeannette Winterson Weight Essay
In Jeanette Winterson s novel Weight, the author demonstrates how myths have modern personal
relevancies and can encourage each reader to investigate the three main subject matters in their
lives; boundaries, freedom, and guilt. The numerous references to walls throughout the novel
signify the boundaries, which make Atlasstrive for freedom. Winterson s Weight, is a modern
rewrite on an old myth of Atlas and Heracles, and the challenges they endure can be interpreted by
individual readers for personal relevancies. Atlas, a father of daughters, is faced with the burden
of carrying the world on his shoulders. This can represent a feeling as if one is carrying a world of
stress and guilt on one s shoulders and conscience. Heracles, the... Show more content on

Atlas constantly is escaping into the limitless of his imagination, where he is not punished for
wanting the forbidden. The Gods hoped that by punishing Atlas to be trapped in his body under the
weight of the world that they would contain his mind, and they were mistaken. This can be
interpreted as the strength and perseverance from within an individual. The wall that Atlas builds
around the Garden of Hesperides is constructed in such a way that it explains freedom and
nothingness that can sometimes be unappreciated. Winterson writes, I built a walled garden, a
temenos, a sacred space. I lifted the huge stones with my own hands and piled them carefully, as
a goatherd would, leaving tiny gaps to let the wind through. A solid wall is easily collapsed. My
mother stirring in her sleep could do as much. A wall well built with invisible spaces will allow
the winds that rage against it to pass through. When the earth underneath it trembles, the spaces
make room for movement and settlement. The wall stands. The wall s strength is not in the
stones but in the spaces between the stones. It s a joke against me I think, that for all my strength
and labour, the wall relies on nothing .Write it more substantially NOTHING. (p. 16). On the
contrary, carrying the world doesn t only make one feel trapped, it also feels as if one is carrying
stress and guilt on their conscience, which

Analysis Of Why We Shouldn T Write Off Cursive By Bobby...
In the article, Why We Shouldn t Write Off Cursive by Bobby George and June George, talks
about cursive. The authors argue how cursive should be taught in school and should be considered
more valuable. Right now, 45 states has omitted cursive from the required school curricula. I
remember when I studied in a private school at India, we had to learn cursive. It was not an
optional, it was a must and we were pretty much was graded on how neat/good you write it.
Personally, I think cursive is very neat, elegant, and rich looking and I believe it helps you get a
good handwriting too.

The Life Of A Beautiful Mantelpiece Sat An Unusual Bust Of...
Upon a beautiful mantelpiece sat an unusual bust of one Jane Austen. This bust was flanked by that
of Aristotle and Homer, leaving little space for anything else on the mantelpiece. Virtues for the
earthly realm and for the gain of the heavenly realm are ones that are in a continual dispute.
MacIntyre try to shed light on some the virtues that are taken up by Benjamin Franklinin his life to
achieve earthly and heavenly success. Malsbary adds onto this study of virtues by taking a close
look at one virtuein particular. Virtue has come through history, changing in some ways and
staying the same in other ways. Many people have seen virtues as the way to complete the life of
man. Homer saw virtue as that which fulfilled the social role the each man was born to take.
Virtue was to do what one ought to do in their stature of life. Aristotle then came and spoke of
virtue as an end. The internal fulfillment of the good of man has a nature end on earth. The
Christian understanding of virtue was that which led to the supernatural end as the goal for the
good of man. Aristotle and the Christian understanding both acknowledge the end of virtues is that
of the good of man. Thus were the older forms of virtue. Next, history comes upon the virtues of
Benjamin Franklin. The man, who practiced the art of mind and body, rhetoric and exercise,
devised a different set of virtues that was to be used for the sake of utility in earthly and heavenly
success. He thought that the virtues needed

Evolution Of Spartan Strategy During The Peloponnesian War
Evolution of Spartan strategy during The Peloponnesian War
At the very beginning I would like to express excitement by The Peloponnesian War and its
relevance despite 2400 years afterwards. This book is not only relevant for military science, but
civil society too. However, this book provides broad and comprehensive details for all levels of
military war: strategic, operational, and tactical. I will focus my paper to the military sphere, more
particularly, to the evolution of Spartan strategy throughout the War. My intention is to do so
through analysis of ends, ways, means, and merge them with related risk. The purpose of this paper
is to explain how the changing environment and circumstances influenced and shaped the strategy of

Sparta s initial strategy at the beginning of the Peloponnesian Warwas an end state to prevent
Athens growing their power and from ruling all Hellas. The concept was to move forces slowly
and moderately, devastating Attica, harass the city of Athens, and draw them out to fight land
war, while avoiding naval engagement. . It would not be an easy and quick war, and should
avoid any kind of engagement with Athenian fleet. Sparta had only one means to achieve the
desired end state, its Army. This was possible only by land with the army marching every season
from Sparta through Corinth, conducting operations in Attica and coming back home. Strategic
vulnerability was long term sustainment, lack of funds, and time critical in that Sparta s
soldiers as farmers would not be able to mobilize for long campaigns. However, Athen s military
leaders, Pericles particularly, understood that Athenian sea power would be more effective
against Sparta on land than Sparta s land power at sea. As a conclusion of the analysis of the
Sparta s initial strategy, I assess, it was not suitable for a long term war as Sparta herself was not
prepared for a prolonged war. Strategy was acceptable and feasible, but only during fighting season.
So overall success would be questionable considering time sensitivity, which will give enough time
for Athene to recover after fighting season.

Tuck Everlasting The Great Gatsby Character Analysis
What if you got the choice to live forever and never pass away? Would you take it? In the novel
Tuck Everlasting the Tuck family comes upon a spring that has water that will make you

Angus Tuck does not like the idea of living forever. He argues that everything in life is part of a
wheel and now that he is can t die it is like being taken off the wheel. He believes, dying is part of
the wheel and you can t just pick out the parts of the wheel you don t like, in his case death. Also
being part of the wheel is good, and now that he is immortal, he feels that he is off the wheel. Jesse

Childhood Immunizations and Why Some Children are not Getting Vaccines:
A Literature Review
Abstract
Recent outbreaks of measles has promoted renewed interest in childhood vaccinations. However,
lingering doubts about the efficacy and safety of popular and recommended vaccines, specifically
the DTP and MMR vaccines, remain. It is not necessarily the attenuated virus portion of the
vaccines, but the ingredients which assist in the performance of the vaccines, that brings about
concern. Some studies report that, at various times and in certain populations, vaccines may pose

One reason that is resurging in the media is the notion that vaccines can be linked to autism. In
the middle is the result: cases of measles, mumps and rubella are occurring and populations of
children are at risk to contract these preventable viruses. It is therefore important to examine
whether vaccinations are indeed safe, if such vaccines pose adverse health risks, and exactly what
the nature of reasons are as to why some children do not receive their immunizations. Much of the
controversy initially arose out of a study published originally in 1998.
The Center of the Questions of VaccineSafety In 1998 Wakefield et al. published the results of a
study in the British Journal Lancet titled Ileal lymphoid nodular hyperplasia, non specific colitis,
and pervasive developmental disorder in children (Wakefield, et al., 1998). What the researchers
reported is the results of a study of 12 children who had been previously healthy, but were now
presenting at a hospital with various complaints. These included a loss of acquired skills including
language, and diarrhea and gastrointestinal pain. These children underwent extensive tests which all
returned with various results. Through the study Wakefield et al. (1998) found a correlation
between these children s symptoms and behaviors being

The Vs. Real Madrid Essay
The issue that is being investigated are between two Spanish football (soccer) teams which team is
ultimately better? Both giants in their own right, Barcelona and Real Madrid have traded success
and feuded for a very long time. Both sets of fans have fought over which team is better comparing
players, stats, style of play, managers, stadiums, etc.
B)What is your thesis? (this will be different than the Classical model thesis)
Through the giant rivalry where both teams boast world class talent, tactical managers and large
finances behind them, Real Madrid and Barcelona have established themselves as two of football s
biggest clubs.
C)What common ground do you share? (A value both sides agree on)
Both sides come from Spain, a place where football is highly competitive. This local rivalry is
important because there is a ton of psychology that effects players on the pitch. Every player
WANTS to win, there is nothing being held back when the players go onto the field. Historically,
both teams are extremely successful. Real Madrid and Barcelona have over 20 league titles each,
32 and 22 respectively. As for the Spanish Cup, Copa del Rey, they are also very triumphant, Real
Madrid s 19 wins to Barcelona s 26. This massive success in these local competitions cemented both
teams as the most victorious teams in all of Spain. Europe s biggest competition, UEFA Champions
League, where all the fantastic teams all across Europe compete with one another, is another area

Enzyme And The Enzyme Of Enzyme
Enzyme Lab
Enzymes are catalysts that speed up chemical reactions without being used up in the process
(Leady). A catalyst helps speed up a chemical reaction without being changed during the reaction.
Enzymes are specific meaning that they can work with only a specific set of chemical reactions.
Most enzyme names end in ase. The shape of a protein is very important in its function for the
reaction. The molecule the enzyme works on is called a substrate. In order for this enzyme to work
on this reaction the substrate must first fit into an activation site. When an enzyme binds to its
substrate, it is called an enzyme substrate complex. The resulting chemicals from the reaction are
called the products. Enzymes can be affected by a few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All enzymes work best at a specific pH making the reaction better. A few examples of enzymes
and their pH level are Pepsin and Trypsin. Pepsin is a stomach enzyme works best at a pH of 2,
which is acidic. Trypsin and many other enzymes of the small intestines work better at a higher pH
which is basic. By increasing the amount of enzyme or substrate molecules is known to increase the
concentration to the solution (Effect). As the amounts of enzymes are increasing in the reaction,
the rate of the reaction is also increasing. Furthermore, as the amount of the substrate is increasing,
the reaction rate increases up to the point where the enzyme is fully occupied and then the rate
levels off.
Hypothesis/prediction:
If the temperature in the solution of the enzyme peroxidase increases, next the rate of peroxidase
will also rise because the warmer the solution, the faster the molecules move, thus causing increased
collisions between substrate and enzyme. If the temperature in the solution decreases, the rate of
reaction will decrease because a colder solution forces molecules to move a lot slower, causing the
amount of collisions between enzyme and substrate to decrease.
Methods:
For this experiment, we utilized the lab manual Basics of Life Science by Brenda

  • 2. Total War During World War II Definition: What is meant by the concept of Total War? Total war is best described as a country s 100% effort. All means of production and accomplishment are geared towards what is the best way to win a war. How was WWII the maximum example of Total War? Most Allies and Axis countries, namely Germany, had geared their economy towards pouring all their resources into the attempt of winning the war. In no other war was this done as much as it was during World War II. Mass Produced Warfare: Compare the military production of the various major Allied and Axis powersduring WWII. What observations can you make about the outcome of the war based on this information? There are many ways of defining military production, but in the broadest way, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By not taking in other factors, and by looking at production amounts only, it is obvious that the Allies would win. There was no means of resources that the Axis powers excelled in, and had few people who fought in the war. Both sides of the war had at this time undergone industrial revolutions, had at least somewhat equal caliber machinery. This means that it would be almost physically impossible for the Axis to defeat the Allies. Strategic Bombing: What do the websites say about the effectiveness of bombing campaigns in disrupting the war effort of the Axis during WWII? According to the majority of the information on the websites, the bombing campaigns put in place by the Allies were not very effective. The main goal of the bombing campaigns were to break the morale of the Axis citizens, specifically Germany. This was done by instead of fully wiping out cities, leaving them only half damaged to show the power of the armies. However, these bombings did little to no damage to the will of Germans. People still were willing to support the Nazi cause. The German economy was very much destroyed, thanks to the bombing efforts, but military production was still proceeding, as the Germans were prepared for the Total War involved. It is also stated that as a result of the bombings, Germany s mobility was shrunken, as they could not move as fast as they wanted. What about the collateral damage involved? The amount of collateral damage that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Lender Liability and the Duty of Good Faith Lender Liability and the Duty of Good Faith I.Introduction From time to time, lenders and their attorneys announce that lender liability is no longer an issue with which the lending community needs to be concerned. What usually prompts this proclamation of the death of lender liability is a recent case in which a court has summarily rejected a borrower s claim that the lender violated the duty of good faith and fair dealing. Many courts have rejected borrowers lawsuits which are based on allegations of the violation of the lender s duty of good faith. Nevertheless, lender liability should continue to be an area of concern to lenders. Although courts often dismiss cases based on a borrower s claims of lender bad faith, in other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then a discussion of the objective and subjective test of good faith will take place before finally concluding that the good faith obligation should not be imposed in debtor creditor situations to override express terms of a contract. II.The U.C.C. A.The Good Faith Performance Obligation and the U.C.C. The central provision of the U.C.C. s good faith requirement is found in В§ 1 203, which provides that every contract or duty within this Act imposes an obligation of good faith in its performance or enforcement. With regard to debtor creditor relationships in particular, this obligation of good faith performance imposes on a lender a duty to deal in good faith with its borrower in all situations, not only in situations where, because of the circumstances of the loan, the lender has assumed actual control over and a fiduciary responsibility for the borrower. One troublesome but important aspect of the good faith performance obligation is its application to contracts, which provide that one party to the contract may, in its sole discretion, take certain actions pursuant to the contract. In such cases, the actions of the party who can exercise its discretion may affect all parties to the contract, and dependent parties must rely on the good faith of the party given the right to exercise its discretion. Often, the discretion exercised by the party in control will adversely affect the dependent party. However, it does not necessarily follow that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Magwitch s Manipulations of Pip in Great Expectations Essay Magwitch s Manipulations of Pip in Great Expectations In Great Expectations, Charles Dickens criticizes the motivation of the lower classes to rise to the level of wealth and education held by the upper classes by showing the extent to which Pip is exploited by Magwitch to meet these goals. To meet the expectations of the gentleman, Pip must leave his family and any possibility of earning his living in order to satisfy the educational and societal demands of this standard. The title of gentleman therefore denotes one who passes his time idly without and obligation or responsibility besides remaining socially amiable. The emergence of the middle class in the nineteenth century allowed people not of noble birth to enter the ranks of gentility. Becoming an educated and morally noble gentleman had come within the reach of those who had previously been excluded. Industry made it possible for someone of the working class to elevate his social position through his own efforts. This new definition of the gentleman had a great appeal among the emerging middle class because high birth, the traditional passport to recognition as a gentleman, could be side stepped at least in theory (Platz 152). This new opportunity created a split between the traditional upper classes and the newly established English bourgeoisie. Dickens recognized the paradoxical aspiration toward the position of an idle gentleman through labor. Obtaining the appearance of a gentleman became more important than the means by which the facade is constructed. Platz writes, Dickens Great Expectations can be interpreted as an attempt to dismantle both the legitimacy and symbolic authority of the gentleman (162). Pip deceives himself by accepting the old ... At the time of his campaign, millions of low income Americans were stuck in the Medicaid gap where they could not afford health insurance, but also were not eligible for the joint state and federal government Medicaid program. Of those people many were considered below the poverty threshold, however due to strict state regulations these individuals or families did not qualify for insurance through Medicaid. As a result, when these Americans needed to be seen by doctors, insured tax paying American s would be stuck with their bills. In order to alleviate this problem, president Obama decided to lead a major campaign to increase the affordability of health care. Through draft bills in the house and senate, the Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as Obama Care, covers a large portion of Americans who before it became a law would be left without insurance. The bill has two main parts making healthcare affordable to low income families and increasing the scope of Medicaid eligibility. Before ObamaCare, families and individuals who were not covered by employers for healthcare had to seek out insurance on their own. This task proved very difficult as insurance providers charged steep prices for coverage. In short, health care coverage was not affordable to a large portion of the population. The law seeks to cover Americans who are between 138% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Level. There are important tax considerations for an IPP. Rules dictate the taxdeductible amounts with respect to contributions for both past and current service benefits and annual withdrawals. These are more closely discussed below. Taxation Considerations (A)Tax Deductible Contributions and other considerations Subject to certain conditions, registered pension plan (e.g. IPP) contributions by employers are deductible for the employer (during the year or within 120 days after year end) for purposes of computing taxable income subject to certain conditions. Generally, prescribed contributions are eligible for deductibility; however, rules governing these contributions are limited in scope to defined RPPs and not applicable to designated plans which more often that not, an IPP is. Therefore, in order for employer IPP contributions to be eligible for deduction, they must satisfy certain prescribed conditions as set forth in subsection 147.2(2). Weighting the pros and cons of the two. Asking which one is better for you, a cold slow death or a hot slow death. But in the end of the poem Frost is saying the no matter which one he picks they are both going to give you the same results, death. To analyze the poem better I took each word as if it symbolized a certain characteristic. In lines three and four, From what I ve tasted of desire I hold those who favor fire it led me to believe that Frost was trying to use desire as a metaphor to fire. Desire, can usually be used a negative or a positive manner depending on the context it s use. In the poem I think that Frost is using it in a negative sense, because he is uses words like end, perish, and destruction in the poem. Negatively the word desire can mean the drive to win or receive something at any cost, the urge for power, which is very destructive. In lines six and nine I think I know enough of hate to say that for destruction ice is also great and would suffice . Saying that ice is a metaphor to hate. It would also allow for samples to be taken from several different locations on the truck. Furthermore, having an automatic probe takes out an employ which allows for that money to benefit the membership of the co op thus allowing the co op to give better service to the customers. The main risk in this investment would be the ability to afford the cost of a probe. With the wheat market deteriorating the possibility going into the hole on this investment increases drastically. Damage to the probe is also a possibility, and a additional expense that could make the probe less profitable. But in this case the benefits seem to outweigh the risks making this investment one to consider to better serve the customer. After some research was done on the automatictruck probe the focus was shifted to the addition of a new receiving pit and leg. Pitcock Supply Inc. was contacted by the intern for a quote and they sent out an agent to take measurements for the location and get all the specifics. The quote allowed for a 15,000 BPH Schlagel conveyor, concrete pit, concrete pad, and a Schlagel distributer. The total which included labor, misc. equipment, rentals, paint, freight, a crane, and insurance came to $304,698.55. Through her childhood, her methods of achieving her goals and her fall from grace, Estella fails to meet the standard she was raised to meet. Estella had to deal with the formations of her expectations in her childhood. If she wasn t climbing the ranks of society, she was dropping the spirits of everyone around her. To start her story, you must understand who she came from and how she was given these expectations. • 18. Examples Of Forgiveness In The Tempest The Tempest was published in 1623 and is considered one of the last plays of William Shakespeare. This play is accepted as virtuous as Prospero, the protagonist, rises above his own problems and dark depths of disturbance and pain to attain a level of tranquility. His mind elevates to such levels that human frailties do not worry him; it is this mental elevation of Prospero that forms the theme of forgivenessof the play. After the shipwreck, we find Alonso in a lot of stress and mood of despair reaching to the level of insanity. Alonso had totally forgotten about the sins and had no guilt for the wrong committed by him, Prospero was pleased with the profound success of what he had set out to do as revenge. It is here that his repentance becomes both intense and genuine. This redemption and repentance is, however, not visible in the other two sinners. Sebastian is a minor character, so Shakespeare passes lightly over his psychological insights and elevation but Antonio is a major character, and his crime is worst of the three, since he betrays a generously trusting brother. Knight had the honor of defending the king as well as their country. On the bloody fields of battle a code of chivalry evolved that tempered anger and fury with mercy. It created ways of turning the grim business of fighting into something tolerable, perhaps even acceptable. Chivalry was not only looked upon as a code for war; it was looked upon as a setting for stories of love and romance. Chivalry meant a higher social status as well as recognition. • 20. The Pros And Cons Of Creative Destruction Joseph Schumpeter was one of the most famous author and economist in the 20th century. Among his numerous findings, one stands out; creative destruction. Creation refers to disruptive innovation on one side, while destruction alludes to the disappearance of some jobs, industries or even sectors on the other. A popular example is transportation. When combustion engines were invented, horse drawn vehicles suddenly became out of age. On the short term, there was a lot of job destructions too. If there was no need for horse drawn vehicles, all adjacent sectors were hit hard: horse breeders were probably left with less demand, horse drawn vehicles companies began to lose their clientele. In creative destruction, neither does the creation part nor the destruction part happen overnight. Before being affordable to the masses and cause the economic disruption mentioned above, the auto industry had to undergo several incremental as opposed to disruptive changes. Eventually, fordism, which has been a cause of destructive creation as well, came along the way and created millions of jobs in the auto industry. When one looks at the jobs created directly, indirectly with auto part suppliers, auto dealers and thanks to new trade opportunities made possible by this new technology, it becomes obvious that if jobs losses can be painful, on the long run, benefits from creation overweight its drawbacks. • 26. The Biblical Passage Of Jesus Throughout the Gospel we are exposed to the notions of materialism and wealth and we can see how it is easy for this emphasis on such temptations to colour and erode the spiritual priority that should characterize the church (AG, 2014). In the biblical passage, Jesus reminds the rich young man that obedience to the Ten Commandmentsis necessary in order to inherit eternal life . The Commandments are essential points of reference if we are to live in love, to distinguish clearly between good and evil, and to build a life plan that is solid and enduring. Jesus is asking us too, whether we know the Commandments, whether we are trying to form our conscience according to Gods law, and putting the Commandments into practice (Benedict XVI, 2010). The rich young man was seeking to enter the eternal kingdom of heaven, and although he had kept the Commandments, what was keeping the rich young man from spiritual perfection was his love of money. As the apostle Paul wrote, For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many grief s (1 Timothy 6:10). Jesus, who lived his life in humility and obscurity, never accumulating wealth or possessions (AG, 2014), asked the young man, Go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and then you will have treasure in heaven . Whatever is standing in our way, keeping us from perfection and maturity is an obstacle that can keep us out of the kingdom of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Why Is College So Expensive If Students Are Paid So Little... A Response to Michelle Chen A teacher has one of the most difficult and highest demanding jobs in society. They are responsible for educating the future and giving their students the best chance to succeed. However, many teachers and professors are not paid nearly as much as the demands placed on them should indicate. Michelle Chen, in her piece from The Nation titled, Why Is College So Expensive if Professors Are Paid So Little?, attempts to analyze the current issues with professors wages in college and provide possible solutions. Although Chen presents some solid ideas, her work suffers from her failure to address why college is so expensive, her inability to provide more than one solution, and her overreliance on emotional aspects of the conflict. In her essay, Chen states a few problems that can hardly be argued with: college is far too expensive and professors are paid much too little. She focuses mostly on adjuncts, or part time professors, as it is in this area that many of the problems reside. She writes, With student debt and tuitions both ballooning across the country, a college degree is in many ways more expensive or overvalued today than ever. Unfortunately, she fails to provide in depth analysis on why college is so costly to begin with. It is because of this shortcoming that Chen s work is much weaker as a whole. Firstly, her title becomes misleading, and makes her a possibly untrustworthy source. Secondly, her failure to acknowledge the reasons why college is so expensive cuts off an entire possibility of solutions. Addressing where all this money is being spent could provide an easier and stronger solution than the one Chen provides. When discussing a topic such as this, there are an abundance of possible solutions that are worth taking a look at. Michelle Chen, however, only decides to closely examine one: unionization of faculty. She says, [Layfield] hopes that organizing with her union for a fair contract can ensure future generations of faculty will face a richer career horizon. While unionization is certainly not a bad idea, Chen puts too much focus on this one solution. She fails to even acknowledge other possible solutions, such as making cuts in administrative budgets ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper reviews an article written by Elza Venter from the Department of Psychology of Education at the University of South Africa. The article is titled Bridging the communication gap between Generation Y and the Baby Boomer generation. The article examines the generational communication gap between generation Y and the Baby Boomer generation with the intention to suggest ways to bridge the gap. Venter (2016) argues that meaningful communication between the two generations is important because they have connected channels of communication and the two can give meaning to each other s lives. For instance, Baby Boomer are the parents, employers, lecturers and teachers of Generation Y (Venter, 2016: 2). However, the two generations do not always maintain good channels of communication. According to Venter (2016) the baby boomer generation and Generation Y often times find themselves engaged in conflict as a result generational differences. • 36. An Overview Of Business Intelligence An Overview of Business Intelligence All great organizations share one thing in common, the use of business intelligence. Business intelligence (BI) provides tools that revolutionize the way organizations manage business and decision making. It allows them to transform mass amounts of raw data into reliable information necessary to make important business decisions. BI delivers relevant and reliable information to those who seek it with the goal of achieving better decisions faster. An employee is independently able to navigate through a company s data and find what he or she needs without relying on others. This means an organization no longer needs to dig through compiled webs of linked spreadsheets, analyze the data manually and mash together reports. Instead, employees can use BI systems to request the specific information that is useful for them (Hitachi Solutions Canada, 2014). BI allows managers to reach the most accurate and contemporaneous information an organization s database cannot retrieve. The software offers applications for both data analysis and presentation of results. Applications such as data mining and decision support systems allow one to contemplate how he or she wants to analyze the data. Data mining refers to the process of searching for valuable business information in a large database, data warehouse, or data mart. Decision support systems combine models and data in an attempt to analyze semi structured and some unstructured problems with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Decentralization Essay 2.3.1.Processes The process of decentralization redefines structures, procedures and practices of governance to be closer to the citizenry and to make them more aware of the costs and benefits; it is not merely a movement of power from the central to the local government. It is the central government has to make some effort for the enactment of legislation. According to Korea reforms in 1991, the central government established legislation on the powers of central administration and the promotion of transfer of power to the local government. This legislation enabled a creation of a council that would evaluate case by case, the powers of the central government and the powers of the wide range local government body, which is to promote decentralization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even when it happens slowly, there is a need for experimentation, testing, adjusting, and replicating successful experiments in other contexts. Decentralization should not be considered as a process, but a way of life and a state of mind based on the principles of freedom respect and participation. Above all it is trusting and recognizing that people are capable of managing their affairs the need to close the gaps and differences between all levels of governance through interaction and sharing decentralization as consisting of interlocking rings of responsibilities from the center to the community. Decentralization should not be imposed, but that people should be imposed, but that people should be exposed to it, thereby honoring their intelligence and respecting their independence. Therefore, it is principally different from a federal system. The word transfer shows that the authority of the local governments retained is coming from the central government. It is a power that being delegated from the higher level of government. On the contrary, constitutional law in a federal system has divided the spheres of the power which each tier of government gets. In other words, the power in federalism, which each level of governments has, including the local governments, comes from the constitutional law and therefore cannot easily be revoked as in decentralization in a unitary ... Home Front Mobilization Historians credit Britain with a highly successful record of mobilising the home front for the war effort, in terms of mobilising the greatest proportion of potential workers, maximising output, assigning the right skills to the right task, and maintaining the morale and spirit of the people. Much of this success was due to the systematic planned mobilisation of women, as workers, soldiers and housewives, enforced after December 1941 by conscription. The women supported the war effort, and made the rationing of consumer goods a success. In some ways, the government over responded, evacuating too many children in the first days of the war, closing cinemas as frivolous then reopening them when the need for cheap entertainment was clear, sacrificing ... • 39. Jeannette Winterson Weight Essay In Jeanette Winterson s novel Weight, the author demonstrates how myths have modern personal relevancies and can encourage each reader to investigate the three main subject matters in their lives; boundaries, freedom, and guilt. The numerous references to walls throughout the novel signify the boundaries, which make Atlasstrive for freedom. Winterson s Weight, is a modern rewrite on an old myth of Atlas and Heracles, and the challenges they endure can be interpreted by individual readers for personal relevancies. Atlas, a father of daughters, is faced with the burden of carrying the world on his shoulders. This can represent a feeling as if one is carrying a world of stress and guilt on one s shoulders and conscience. Heracles, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Atlas constantly is escaping into the limitless of his imagination, where he is not punished for wanting the forbidden. The Gods hoped that by punishing Atlas to be trapped in his body under the weight of the world that they would contain his mind, and they were mistaken. This can be interpreted as the strength and perseverance from within an individual. The wall that Atlas builds around the Garden of Hesperides is constructed in such a way that it explains freedom and nothingness that can sometimes be unappreciated. Winterson writes, I built a walled garden, a temenos, a sacred space. I lifted the huge stones with my own hands and piled them carefully, as a goatherd would, leaving tiny gaps to let the wind through. A solid wall is easily collapsed. My mother stirring in her sleep could do as much. A wall well built with invisible spaces will allow the winds that rage against it to pass through. When the earth underneath it trembles, the spaces make room for movement and settlement. The wall stands. The wall s strength is not in the stones but in the spaces between the stones. It s a joke against me I think, that for all my strength and labour, the wall relies on nothing .Write it more substantially NOTHING. (p. 16). Virtues for the earthly realm and for the gain of the heavenly realm are ones that are in a continual dispute. MacIntyre try to shed light on some the virtues that are taken up by Benjamin Franklinin his life to achieve earthly and heavenly success. Malsbary adds onto this study of virtues by taking a close look at one virtuein particular. Virtue has come through history, changing in some ways and staying the same in other ways. Many people have seen virtues as the way to complete the life of man. Homer saw virtue as that which fulfilled the social role the each man was born to take. Virtue was to do what one ought to do in their stature of life. Aristotle then came and spoke of virtue as an end. The internal fulfillment of the good of man has a nature end on earth. The Christian understanding of virtue was that which led to the supernatural end as the goal for the good of man. Aristotle and the Christian understanding both acknowledge the end of virtues is that of the good of man. Thus were the older forms of virtue. Next, history comes upon the virtues of Benjamin Franklin. The man, who practiced the art of mind and body, rhetoric and exercise, devised a different set of virtues that was to be used for the sake of utility in earthly and heavenly success. Sparta s initial strategy at the beginning of the Peloponnesian Warwas an end state to prevent Athens growing their power and from ruling all Hellas. The concept was to move forces slowly and moderately, devastating Attica, harass the city of Athens, and draw them out to fight land war, while avoiding naval engagement. . It would not be an easy and quick war, and should avoid any kind of engagement with Athenian fleet. Sparta had only one means to achieve the desired end state, its Army. This was possible only by land with the army marching every season from Sparta through Corinth, conducting operations in Attica and coming back home. Strategic vulnerability was long term sustainment, lack of funds, and time critical in that Sparta s soldiers as farmers would not be able to mobilize for long campaigns. However, Athen s military leaders, Pericles particularly, understood that Athenian sea power would be more effective against Sparta on land than Sparta s land power at sea. As a conclusion of the analysis of the Sparta s initial strategy, I assess, it was not suitable for a long term war as Sparta herself was not prepared for a prolonged war. Strategy was acceptable and feasible, but only during fighting season. So overall success would be questionable considering time sensitivity, which will give enough time for Athene to recover after fighting season. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Childhood Immunizations and Why Some Children are not Getting Vaccines: A Literature Review Christie Canfield Central Carolina Community College Childhood Immunizations and Why Some Children are not Getting Vaccines: A Literature Review Abstract Recent outbreaks of measles has promoted renewed interest in childhood vaccinations. However, lingering doubts about the efficacy and safety of popular and recommended vaccines, specifically the DTP and MMR vaccines, remain. One reason that is resurging in the media is the notion that vaccines can be linked to autism. In the middle is the result: cases of measles, mumps and rubella are occurring and populations of children are at risk to contract these preventable viruses. It is therefore important to examine whether vaccinations are indeed safe, if such vaccines pose adverse health risks, and exactly what the nature of reasons are as to why some children do not receive their immunizations. Much of the controversy initially arose out of a study published originally in 1998. The Center of the Questions of VaccineSafety In 1998 Wakefield et al. published the results of a study in the British Journal Lancet titled Ileal lymphoid nodular hyperplasia, non specific colitis, and pervasive developmental disorder in children (Wakefield, et al., 1998). What the researchers reported is the results of a study of 12 children who had been previously healthy, but were now presenting at a hospital with various complaints. A catalyst helps speed up a chemical reaction without being changed during the reaction. Enzymes are specific meaning that they can work with only a specific set of chemical reactions. Most enzyme names end in ase. The shape of a protein is very important in its function for the reaction. The molecule the enzyme works on is called a substrate. In order for this enzyme to work on this reaction the substrate must first fit into an activation site. When an enzyme binds to its substrate, it is called an enzyme substrate complex. The resulting chemicals from the reaction are called the products. Enzymes can be affected by a few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All enzymes work best at a specific pH making the reaction better. A few examples of enzymes and their pH level are Pepsin and Trypsin. Pepsin is a stomach enzyme works best at a pH of 2, which is acidic. Trypsin and many other enzymes of the small intestines work better at a higher pH which is basic. By increasing the amount of enzyme or substrate molecules is known to increase the concentration to the solution (Effect). As the amounts of enzymes are increasing in the reaction, the rate of the reaction is also increasing. Furthermore, as the amount of the substrate is increasing, the reaction rate increases up to the point where the enzyme is fully occupied and then the rate levels off. Hypothesis/prediction: If the temperature in the solution of the enzyme peroxidase increases, next the rate of peroxidase will also rise because the warmer the solution, the faster the molecules move, thus causing increased collisions between substrate and enzyme. If the temperature in the solution decreases, the rate of reaction will decrease because a colder solution forces molecules to move a lot slower, causing the amount of collisions between enzyme and substrate to decrease.
