Evolution Of Nurses Over Time Nurse
Nurses have gone through a significant evolution over time. Nurses work in many setting such as
hospitals and homes. Some nurses are even stationed in foreign countries around the globe. In the past,
they took care of revolutionary soldiers. Where the brave soldiers went, the nurses followed, (A
history of care). In world war one and two they were put at risk for disease, and capture (A history of
care). Over time nurses have had had to enter many disastrous scenes to aid in care. For example,
Clara Maass died in 1901 for volunteering for experiments to control yellow fever (A history of care).
Over time nurses have made many contributions to this world to make it a better place.
Florence Nightingale began her nursing career in the Crimean

Technology, Belief Systems and the Individual in Dune and Foundation
Technology and belief have a great deal to do in making a good science fiction novel. Frank Herbert s
Dune and Isaac Asimov s Foundation Series give excellent examples of this. Belief systems are
defined as religious beliefs in a society. Technology is defined as the level of science achieved in a
society. These two factors play separate roles in a society. Yet, at times, they fall into the same
categories like in the book Dune where science reflects religious aspects or in Foundation where the
society depends on religion and social behavior to survive the onslaught of advanced technology.
Religion might be a fuel to achieve a specific level of technology. Such as ... Show more content on

After this church, came the Bene Gesserit, who privately denied that their order was a religious order,
but in fact, all of their teachings and beliefs were quite religious. Following this religious order, came
an age of agnostic rule. In this time, people thought religion was a type of theatrical way to keep the
people amused and believed that all phenomenon even unexplained phenomenon could be reduced to
simple scientific explanation. As time changed, the fourth religious movement was the Ancient
Teachings. These ancient teachings included Zensunni Wanderers, the Navachristianity of Chusuk, the
BuddIslamic Variants of the types dominant at Lankival and Sikun, the Blend Books of the Mahayana
Lankavatara, the Zen Hekiganshu of III Delta Pavonis, the Tawrah and Talmudic Zabur and the
Muadh Quran. Frank Herbert s imagination takes us through all of these religious orders to show the
chaos in our own society s religious failings. All of these religious beliefs have shaped the final
religion of Arrakis which is called the religion of the Muad Dib.
Yet, there is still one truly final religion of sorts that has affected the people of Arrakis more than any
other spiritual religion and this following is known to many of us as Space Travel. Mankind s
movement through deep space amazed the people of Arrakis and slowly these people thought of space
travel as a religion and not a science. This is due to actual science of

How Indian Stock Market Is Affected By Other Foreign Market
The world today is more connected that it has ever been. We are buying and selling things from and to
almost every other country in the world. The economies have financial relationship with large number
of countries and to some or greater extent they affect our economy and we affect theirs. Some of the
global market indices that have a key influence on Indian market are NYSE, NASDAQ, NIKKEI,
Dow Jones, FTSE, S P500, Kospai etc. So the aim of this project is to understand how Indian stock
market is affected by other foreign market. This study will help us in understanding the level of
interdependency among the major stock markets in the world and its impact on india s market. As the
aim of investor is to reduce the risk so investor will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However if the value of stock index is decreasing it indicates that in general corporate in the country
may be facing trouble. Increasing value of stock index also means that investors are gaining faith in
the economy.
Stock index can be constructed for entire world called global indices like S P global100, MSCI global
(MSCI which include over 6000 stocks from different parts of the developed world), for a particular
continent like (S P Latin America 500), for entire country like (sensex and nifty for India), or for a
particular sector like (BSE BANKEX for top banking companies in India).
How stock index is calculated?
A stock index is created by selecting a group of high performing stocks. Like the index of nation stock
exchange (India) is nifty50 and it comprises of 50 stocks. So if the value of the nifty index goes up it
means that most of the stocks in nifty are performing well.
A stock index can be calculated in two ways
1.By considering the price of the component stocks alone. This method is called the price weighted
method.
2.By considering the market value or size of the company called the capitalization weighted method.
Mostly for calculating the value of a index weighted market capitalization of the companies is used.
Example of index calculation:
Lets us see how the value of a stock index is calculated by taking the example of hypothetical stocks.
Consider the base index value is set to 100 for the stocks.

A Separate Peace Essay
As Carl Jung once stated, Man s task is to become conscious of the contents that press upward from
the unconscious . To reach a peaceful reconciliation, one must learn to embrace two distinct elements
of their personality, the Persona and Shadow. Likewise, in the bildungsroman, A Separate Peace,
author John Knowles depicts the common rivalry between young adolescents, and how they struggle
to accept their identity and the relationship between their unconscious self. Gene, a Devon High
student, becomes best friends with Finny and grows jealous of his ostensibly flawless friend, causing
him to make a life changing decision. His struggles to reach an inner balance between his Persona and
Shadow lead to the ultimate death of Finny. Gene s transformation involves the changes of his mask
and Shadow from guilt and jealousy to pride and tolerance which results in the later acceptance of the
light and dark parts of himself, allowing him to truly reach adulthood and a state of peace.
Essentially, Gene s conflict begins as he develops feelings of envy towards Finny s outgoing
personality and appealing charisma, which causes him to hide behind a persona in the one sided
rivalry he has with Finny. When Gene flunks a test for the first time, he finds an excuse to justify his
failure, concluding that Finny purposely interrupted his studies by inviting him to the beach. Gene
reasons, Sure, he wanted to share everything with me, especially his procession of D s in every
subject.

According to Dr. Christine Williams of the American Health Foundation in Valhalla, New York;
children who have parents who smoke are more likely to smoke as well as they get bigger. Williams
also states that parents who do not want their children to smoke must quit themselves. Children learn
what they live, it s not enough for parents to say, do what I say and not what I do , Williams said. She
also believes that advertisements play a very strong role in influencing the children. (Philippine
Journal, November 20, 1998) Parents are the single most important influence on their children s
decision to smoke, drink, or use drugs, yet many parents do not fully understand the extent of their
influence. (Philip Morris USA, n.d.) Kids do understand that smoking is dangerous, but many of them
try it anyway out of curiosity, low self esteem, peer pressure, the need to establish their own
independent identities, and to rebel against their parents. (Rodrigo Cuenca, M., Philippine Star, p. E 1,
August 5, 2003) According to the book, Peddling Poison: The Tobacco Industry and Kids, Many
young people have the false impression that the effect of smoking and other tobacco use are problems
they will only have to face much later in life. Many youth who start smoking think they can quit the
habit easily. (Snell, C., 2005) Another reason is related to physical appearance. Prof. Arthur Crisp of

Their Eyes Were Watching God Traits
The novel Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston portrays important to possess traits
of self revelation, maturity, and courage through Janie s relationship with Joe Starks. These traits are
revealed through both marriage and death in the Floridian setting of Eatonville, all taking place in the
early 1900 s. Through this marriage, Janie is not only defined as a major character in the book, but she
is turned into an independent but loving woman by both the beneficial and deterring effects of Joe
Starks.
Although being the Eatonville mayor, Joe Starks does everything but help Janie towards the end of
their twisting marriage. Over time, Joe impedes Janie from realizing how strong and independent of a
woman she is. Joe makes Janie cover ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Janie s courage is pulled out from under her skin after days of crude comments directed towards her

hard as he can in front of the whole store, both for attention and to let Janie know who is in charge of
their relationship. Even though Joe proceeds to hit Janie, she realizes that although hidden from the
naked eye, there is a fight in her just yearning to come out and stop the cruel person that Joe had
become. After Joe s death, Janie and Pheoby catch up on life and while talking about how Janie is not
truthfully mourning the death of her husband, Janie says Ah jus loves dis freedom (Hurston 93). These
happenings help Janie discover that she is a strong woman who can stand up for herself, and
eventually win. Joe hitting Janie helps her find out that Joe is not the sweet talking, harmless man she
had once thought of him to be. Although on the train and evidentially being Proud of what she saw

Why Gay Men and Straight Women Have Such Close Relationships
In a society where homosexuality is an ever growing topic, one might wonder why gay men tend to
have the closest relationships with straight women. Ellen DeGeneres once said, every straight woman
has a gay best friend by their side. Why is this? I decided to read and write about an experiment that
was done to answer the question of why gay men and straight women have such close relationships.
The article s title is, Friend with Benefits, but Without the Sex: Straight Women and Gay men
Exchange Trustworthy Mating Advice. Previous research has been done on this topic and found that
women tend to enjoy a gay man s companionship because there is not sexual strings attached and bias
advice. Gay men find straight women to be extremely trustworthy. Prior research not only compared
homosexual males vs. straight women, but homosexual males vs. homosexual males relationships and
the same with women. For the current research in this article, researchers hypothesized that the
trustworthiness and honesty that often characterizes gay male straight female friendships may be
rooted in mating relevant domains. Basically, with the absence of deceptive mating motivations, one is
able to fully feel comfortable and honest within the friendship and not have to worry that they are
being hit on. This experiment was done in two parts. The first experiment was known as straight
women s perceptions, and the second experiment was known as gay men s

The Death Of The Western World
If she felt any misgiving, my presence would prevent it from being too late, even at the supposed last
moment... But her look of reply was quite sufficient; she had not come without counting the cost. Her
belief in the Pythagorean doctrine of transmigration was firm and fixed; and she looked forward,
without a doubt, to secure for herself and her husband, by this sacrifice, a new life of happier
existence, and more refined enjoyments than the sordid realities which the world now offered... This
quote, recorded by Richard Hartley Kennedy, a 19th century British surgeon living in British India
exemplifies the almost macabre fascination with the Hindu rite of widow burning known as Sati that
the Western World has developed over the course of the last several hundred years. Perhaps, this
morbid obsession originated with the Western World seeing in Sati a Romeo and Juliette like
expression of true love. Subsequently, the West s fascination can perhaps be credited to the ensuing
human rights controversy that this rite has generated over the course of the past two hundred years.
Regardless as to the reason of why the West has taken an interest in this rite, I will attempt in this
paper to decipher and interpret this ritual mostly through the lens of a Western philosopher of religion,
Mircea Eliade. Eliade, in his work The Sacred and The Profane: The Nature of Religion, postulates
that for modern men to truly understand religion, they must remove themselves from contemporary

The Poisoner s Handbook By Deborah Blums Best Selling Book
The film that I am reviewing, title The Poisoner s Handbook, is based on Deborah Blums best selling
book, of the same title, which reflects on the most notorious cases between the years of 1918 and 1959
that were handled by Charles Norris, the chief medical examiner for New York City, also known and
described by his peers as the father of forensic toxicology in America, and Alexander Oscar Gettler,
toxicologist with the Office of Chief Medical Examiner of the City of New York, such as the fatal
radium poisoning of the factory workers who contracted radiation poisoning from painting watch dials
with self luminous paint at the Orange, New Jersey watch factory around the year 1917 and other
cases that involve dangerous poisons, like arsenic, methanol, lead, carbon monoxide, denatured
alcohol, radium and thallium. Their renowned work led to tougher regulations by the government and
the creation of the Food and Drug Administration. The film depicts how the average American s
medicine cabinet, in the early 1900s, was a treasure chest of dangerous poisons that could make you
ill, put you in a coma, and even kill you. These poisons were readily found in health tonics, depilatory
creams, teething medicine, and cleaning supplies.
In the early 1920s, medical examiners and coroners were appointed by the mayor and were
responsible for investigating every suspicious death in New York City. The position was a political
one and anyone, including musicians, painters, milkmen could

the democratic party has slightly changed from what they stand for and how exactly they stand for it.

How Did The Articles Of Confederation Lead To Change
There were many problems with the Articles of Confederation that led to its replacement by the U.S.
Constitution. The states had more power than the federal government, leaving the federal government
was weak. The federal government could not levy taxes, and the Articles gave major responsibilities
such as negotiating treaties, coining money, and declaring war to state governments. Each state had
one vote despite its population, and this angered many of the larger states who felt under represented.
Finally, the Articles lacked a judicial system, and required a unanimous vote to pass any legislature,
which often proved difficult to achieve. The turning point that led to a demand for change was Shay s

The assessments performed on this patient were vital signs, blood glucose levels and regular blood

Essay On Mental Illness In Macbeth
Ladies and Gentlemen, in the trial of The People of Scotland vs. Macbeth, the prosecution will claim a
tale of a power hungry man who let ambition get the best of him. They will present physical evidence
of him with the dagger, him conspiring with his wife, and him hiring men to kill. However, the
evidence presented today by the defense will tell the true story: a man overtaken by mental illness.
Macbeth displays the classic signs of narcissistic personality disorder: elevated sense of entitlement
and delusions about power. While Macbeth did commit the murders, he was insane, and therefor did
not commit the murders with criminal intent. The extent of his mental disorder has manifested in
hallucinations and the gradual unraveling of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macbeth may talk of big plans to assassinate Duncan, but at the root he is still a good person. His
description predicts the eventual effect of his actions: total and complete loss of rational self, and
slippage into full blown psychosis. Following this point, Macbeth should not be held accountable for
his crimes, as he goes completely insane.
A characteristic of narcissistic personality disorder is heavy hallucinations, caused by a fantasy the
person has imagined for themselves. Even before he murders Duncan, Macbeth s delusion of him
becoming king manifests through hallucinations involving murder imagery. As he walks towards
Duncan s room, a floating dagger, only visible by him, leads him there. The mirage he has placed
himself in, where he is king of Scotland, has caused his subconscious to produce delusions, Is this a
dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not
and yet I see thee still (2.1.44 45). Macbeth acknowledges that the dagger is not real, and yet he still
attempts to clutch it, fully invested in his fantasy. He describes later as A dagger of the mind , as if the
very delusions he is undergoing are ripping his mind apart (2.1.50). However, through the phrases of

Cleansing is important but shampooing is not
Traditional shampoos are on the list of products to avoid if you are trying to grow and maintain
healthy natural hair. Traditional shampoos use sulfates to cleanse hair and sulfates are extremely
drying to natural hair. Since the health of natural hair depends largely on how moisturized it is, the
types of cleansers are avoided by many naturals. There are many alternate cleansers including mud
washes, co washes and sulfate free shampoos.

My Vision And Plans For Personnel Psychology
With these words and emphasis, Taylor and Mosier (1948, p. 1) launched Personnel Psychology over
60 years ago. Then, as now, Personnel Psychology was centrally concerned with the study of people at
work. As the new editorial team begins its term, I want to take this opportunity to share my vision and
plans for Personnel Psychology. To understand where we are heading, however, it is helpful to first
consider where Personnel Psychology has been. As former editor John Hollenbeck noted when
describing some of Personnel Psychology s past ground breaking research, The impact that one has on
the future seems to be closely related to one s appreciation of the past (1998, p. 819). In that spirit, we
look forward by first looking back.

It is our intent as the incoming editorial team to continue P Psych s tradition of encouraging and

global and cross cultural issues, organizational climate, work attitudes and behaviors, motivation,

The Bluest Eye By Jacqueline Woodson
Although written decades apart, Jacqueline Woodson s Another Brooklyn and Toni Morrison s The
Bluest Eye both explore the trials and tribulations that young black girls must endure as they begin to
step into womanhood. While the burdens that the protagonists in each of these texts differ in some key
ways, one of the most interesting things that both Woodson and Morrison depicted was a sense of
difficulty in coping with these changes, and rather than having any semblance of mastery over their
circumstances, these young protagonists would instead project their emotions onto something else as
they try to discover what causes their suffering. Morrison s The Bluest Eye, for example, features this
prominently throughout the text as Pecola sets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Junior, Geraldine s son, loathes this cat, as the text states, [as Junior] grew older, he learned how to
direct his hatred of his mother to the cat, and spent some happy moments watching it suffer (Morrison
86). This section not only serves as another example of projection from a developing, young, black
character, but more importantly, it also sets up the expectation for this cat to be loved. Later in the text,
Pecola finally goes to Junior s home to see the cat, and Junior promptly throws the cat in her face and
locks them both in a room (89 90). But as Pecola stays in the sealed room, something odd begins to
happen. She looks down at the cat, and the text gives us a description of the cat as black all over, deep
silky black, and his eyes, pointing down toward his nose, were bluish green (90). Originally, then, the
cat s eyes are described as bluish green until Pecola sees the light hit them in a certain way, then they
shift to blue. The text continues, The light made them shine like blue ice. Pecola rubbed the cat s head;
he whined, his tongue flicking with pleasure. The blue eyes in the black face held her (90). Notably,
the moment that the light changes the eyes of the cat to blue, Pecola begins to show it affection, and
the cat begins to show signs of happiness. Notably, past this point in the text, at least for the remainder
of when the cat is mentioned, he is always given the description of having blue eyes rather

Themes In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
THE ROAD NOT TAKEN Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken, is a poem, or even a tale many readers
will relate to. It is a narrative of the choices in life and the crossroads in which the individual is faced
with. In the lines, there is quite clarity in the decisions and feelings of Frost throughout. His use of
imagery to paint beautiful landscapes and countless sub thoughts is extraordinary, yet he does it with
such few words. Although one could see this poem for how it reads and view the story of a solemn
traveler pacing down a road, when diving deep into its actual text one sees that Frost is trying to paint
a much deeper picture. This metaphor of a poem is written a way that anybody who reads it can
understand and relate. From each of the simple lines to the groupings of intricately placed words, this
work of art brings out the meaning and passion in a well lived life. In the first stanza the setting is laid
out before us. A fork in the road in the middle of a yellow wood. These two paths are unknown to the
solemn traveler. The first line in the poem states yellow wood, which gives the feeling that it would be
more of an autumn season. The autumn season is the beginning of dormancy in the forest life. It also
signals the nearing end of another joyous year. In life we have cycles just like the seasons cycle.
Periods of new growth such as spring or a new relationship perhaps. Summer, where we are enjoying
the things we have to the fullest. There is fall, when something nears to an end such as a vacation, the
ending of the year or maybe childhood when one must think about getting out in the world. Then,
there is winter: the darker portion of the cycle of life. The point in which we are waiting for the new to
begin or praying for the hurt to subside.
This cycle of life, and particularly the season of autumn, seems to pair up with the fork in the road or
the point where the traveler is ending this stretch of road and must embark upon a new path. Just as it
is in life when one period begins to draw to an end we must begin to think of the next set of choices or
paths to take. Most options in life do not allow for someone to have both. Just as the traveler we, too,
must choose a path for ourselves.

Symbolism In The Devil s Arithmetic
The Devil s Arithmetic: a gruesome equation of addition and subtraction, a mix of human numbers, a
reviled combination of death and life. There are several denominations in presenting the story of
Hannah, similar or different they may be. To cover the rudimentary understanding, Hannah, named
after her aunt s dead friend, is forced by her parents to attend a Seder at her grandparent s house. She
is allowed to drink wine and opens the door for Elijah, according to tradition. She speaks the words
Ready or not, here I come... and is transported to the past. Hannah(Chaya to everyone else) tries to

Participatory Action Research And Explanation
In the reviewed literature, a case is made for participatory action research and explanation given on its
composition and on how it enhances the quality of research (Greenwood et al, 1993). They define
participatory action research as a type of research that brings together a member of the organization
(insider) and an expert research to carry out the research process.
Gibbons et al (1994) talks about the knowledge production mode as well as a number of author later
(Huff and Huff, 2001; Huff, 2000; Starky and Madan, 2001; Tranfield and Starky, 1998). The
definition is articulated into traditional or mode 1 (pursuit of scientific truths), and interactive or mode
2 (production of knowledge by application) (Huff, 2000). Mode 3 and mode 1.5 is also referenced by
Huff (2000). It is worth noting that no specific mode fit my organization exactly: I see a lot of mode 2
as management wants to solve problems quickly to reduce loss.
In the problem solving process, innovations (their spread or lack of spread), pro innovation biases, and
their influencers will be encountered. From review literature, Abrahamson (1991) teaches us how to
handle these and how to prevent pro innovation biases by using a matrix and rejecting assumptions.
Critically reflecting on my wicked problem, some thoughts were investigated and in some cases
evidence: these were reviewed.
First to consider is if a metaphor (or school of thought) can adequately represent the totality of our
organizational life. This

During the recent flooding, we sustained damage to equipment, racecourse and docks. While majority
of the damage is covered under the Foundations insurance we do have several items that were not.
One of our large gangways south of the Chesapeake Boathouse washed off of its foundations. Both
Universities docks were washed out for the inlets and are considered a total lose. The foundation has
been working closely with both Universities and the dock manufacture to replace the dock system.
Both Universities have filed claims with FEMA for disaster relieve and are currently working through
the process. We too, filed a claim with FEMA but under the Non Profit guidelines we only qualify for
debris removal and emergency preventive maintenance funding. We will be submitting our staffing
cost for debris removal under the FEMA guidelines. The racecourse was not a total lose and we are
currently working with our insurance company to recover those loses. Lake Overhoulser

A Prayer For Owen Meany A Humor Analysis
Humor is difficult to incorporate in writing, yet John Irving captures the essence of humor beautifully
in A Prayer for Owen Meany through the use literary techniques and strategies. Although the stories
themselves are hilarious, Irving s writing creativity evokes laughter in the most inapt scenes like
Grandma Wheelwright forgets her own grandson. A scene between Barb Wiggin and Owen Meany is
particularly funny, and to showcase his jocular writing style in the scene, Irving manipulates
punctuation, diction, description to create one of the many unforgettable and comical scenes in the

Irving uses it liberally. Throughout the book, many words

Table 4
There are 03 types of strategies for selecting a target a market for Tucson textiles
Undifferentiated marketing This type of marketing views the market as one group with no segments
therefore using a single marketing strategy. Undifferentiated marketing generally involves targeting
the whole with one product and an undifferentiated marketing can be cheaper that other strategies
because there is only one product to produce. This strategy utilizes a single marketing mix to reach the
maximum number of consumers in the target market selected.
Differentiated marketing Here the marketing strategy targets different market segments with specific
marketing mix, which is designed to meet those segments needs. Differentiated marketing strategy
involves the preparation and communication of different brand and product messages to different
types of customers.
Concentrated marketing This type of marketing focuses on selecting a particular market. This strategy
can categorize the company into a single product. Concentrated marketing is famous for small firms
because mass distribution, production and mass advertising are not necessary these firms can achieve

I m sure most people have followed the news on the Dakota Access Pipeline and the Keystone XL

However, there are several other recent news events that cover indigenous rights within the United
States in particular. Many of these news events revolve around land (monument statuses, and rightly
ownership), and cultural appropriation. These factors play into the larger scheme of structural violence

Rather, as Garrett and Pichette would explain, legislative measures were clever and would go on to
force Native Americans to conform to the structures of White American (Garrett and Pichette).
So what does this second example have to do with modern events? The piece was written on
attempting to return land that was forcibly taken from the Native Americans, in this case the Lenape.
An activist for Native American rights would go on to buy a building in Manhattan with the hopes of
restoring it into a prayer house, which would be owned and operated by the Lenape Nation. This
decision was not without some controversy, as this person had made Mr. Van Dunk the recipient of the

criticized for how he handled tribe finances and business. Mr. Van Dunk has since been barred from
the nation by a tribal vote (Kilgannon). Thus, people feel he is an inappropriate recipient. This
particular article relates to the land ownership and rights of Native American tribes, that have often

Summary Of The Scarlet Letter Section 1 In The Scarlet Letter
Section 1: Section 1 of the Scarlet Letter covered chapters 1 3. These chapters set the premise for the
story. Speak out the name! That, and thy repentance, may avail to take the scarlet letter off thy breast.
Never! replied Hester Prynne, looking, not at Mr. Wilson, but into the deep and troubled eyes of the
younger clergyman. (58) This peaked my interest as I too wanted to know who the father is. I also
thought it was wrong the way they tried to bribe her into telling who the father is. I chose this quote
because I feel like that is a hint as to who the father is because she looked at the clergyman .
Section 2: Section 2 we get to know more about Hester Prynne s little girl named Pearl and her former
husband Roger Chillingworth who vows revenge. An imp of evil, emblem and product of sin, she had
no right amongst christened infant. (77) I highlighted this out of my book because I just completely
disagreed with that statement. I feel like no matter how the child was brought into the world it shouldn
t be looked upon as an evil being. Every child is a blessing and has a purpose so I just didn t agree
with this and the fact it said she had no right amongst christened infants.
Section 3: I will never give her up! And here, by a sudden impulse, she turned to the young
clergyman, Mr. Dimmesdale... I will not lose child! Speak for me! Thou knowest, for thou hast
sympathies which these men lack. (94)

Haiti Surviving after the Earthquake
The effects caused by the earthquakes are devastating. It causes losses of human life and has effects on
the infrastructure and economy. Earthquakes can happen at any time anywhere. In January 12, 2010 an
earthquake of a magnitude of 7.0 hit the nation of Haiti. An estimation of 316,000 people was killed
and more than 1.3 million of Haitians were left homeless (Earthquake Information for 2010). Haiti
was lead in a terrified chaos. After the earthquake, families were separated because many of the
members were killed. The homes, schools, and hospitals were demolished. People loss their most
value belongings. It would take time to the country to recover from this terrible disaster. The long
terms are environmental, health, and economic issues that effect in the beautiful island of Haiti.
Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the Americas. Agriculture is one of the incomes of the
population. However, everything changes after the 2010 earthquake. The losses caused by the quake
were approximately in $8 billons and $14 billons. Joblessness and the lack of food, and clean water
further affect the economy because people chose to immigrate to other places for work such as
Dominican Republic (Haiti earthquake). Furthermore, Haiti was a Republic of non governmental
organization to become a Republic of unemployment, and in order to accomplish an economical
growth Haiti needs the investment of companies that can invest in the country to help many of the

How the Characters of Macbeth and the Duke in My Last...
I am examining the characters of the Duke and Macbeth and how they can be considered disturbed
characters. The play, Macbeth and poem, My Last Duchess both show psychological truths and
insights into the characters. While the Duke shows himself to be disturbed straight away in the poem,
Macbeth s mental deterioration takes place and develops as the play proceeds. Macbeth written by
William Shakespeare and set in 1050 contains themes of status, power and death while My Last
Duchess by Robert Browning written in 1842 shows how status, wealth and the marriage market can
affect a man s life.
Macbeth at first is a well respected and liked character. He shows himself to be brave and is given the
position of the Thane of Cawdor . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However as King, there is no one who has a higher status than his which then leads Macbeth to
associate with people of a lower class than the people he is obligated to. When talking to the
murderers it is pointed out that there is blood upon thy face which shows that Macbeth instigated the
murder of a friends. The two scenes symbolise how Macbeth has become infatuated with power and is
willing to do anything to keep it. This exhibits his obsessive nature.
Macbeth s use of language in Act 5, Scene 5 infers that life is pointless. He suggests that life until we
die means nothing. Creeps in this petty pace from day To the last syllable of recorded time. During
this scene he finds out Lady Macbeth died, showing the extent that he relies on his wife. Shakespeare
uses the scene to tell the audience that you can t control destiny and what happens in life. This relates
to his disturbed mind as he tried to control his destiny. An emphasis is put on the fact the word
tomorrow is repeated. It implies that Macbeth won t have a tomorrow. Shakespeare uses language to
show how much Macbeth has changed throughout the play. At first he was a respected character and
gradually becomes more disturbed. Thus scene suggests that he is essentially lost and resigned to his
fate.
The Duke however is a possessive and materialistic character. This is shown through the title My Last
Duchess . My displays how even

Analysis Of Rona Inc. Largest Canadian Distributor And...
RONA Inc is the largest Canadian distributor and retailer of hardware, home renovation and gardening
products. They employ 30,000 people at more than 800 corporate, franchise and affiliate locations
across Canada. Within the last year RONA has undergone significant changes, hiring a new CEO and
choosing to close down several locations, so it is a very interesting period moving forward for the
company. This report will outline RONA s current financial position, current issues that may affect
their position, and give a prediction as to the future performance of the company. It will also analyze
several of RONA s key financial ratios, and compare them to those of Home Depot, a major
competitor in the industry.
As of December 30, 2012, RONA reported $1,311,342,000 in current assets, a majority of which
being inventory and trade and other receivables. RONA carries a lot of inventory due to their
relatively low profit margin and high inventory turnover, who s numbers we explain further later in
this paper. RONA has $813,901,000 in fixed assets, which make up about 29% of their reported
$2,806,458,000 in total assets. This means that RONA does use a fair amount of operating leverage in
their business.
There are a few conclusions we can come to when looking at RONA s current debt and equity. Their
total debt of $922,882,000 and total equity of $1,883,576,000 give them a 0.49 debt to equity ratio.

many hardships back home and they were determined to do what it would take to make a change for
themselves. However, these immigrants did not expect the unfair treatment that came along with the
work they set out to do in America. Japanese laborers were at first recruited to work on the sugar
plantations of the independent monarchy of Hawaii. Some of them left Japan in 1868 on a three year

to Japan. On the other hand, as mentioned earlier, the Chinese faced brutal working conditions as well,
while working on the railroad. The first Chinese were hired in 1865 at approximately $28 per month
to do very dangerous work. They lived simply and cooked their own meals, consisting of fish, dried

their lives working in these conditions. The working conditions were harsh for these groups of

The Effect Of Serum Albumin On Blood And Urine Samples...
77 citations.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Firstly, a test to determine the concentration of serum albumin in both blood and urine samples were
carried out. Table 1 demonstrates that Patient B discharged 43mg/mL of serum albumin which was
within the normal literature reference range provided.
Low serum albumin levels are usually associated with acute glomerulonephritis, the normal albumin
levels for Patient B implies that acute glomerulonephritis could be eliminated from list of conditions
provided. Thus suggested for both Patient B and Patient N there were no leakage of the serum albumin
in the urine. Nevertheless, (McClatchey, 2002) identified that low albumin levels may also signify
impaired liver function. Conditions such as hepatic cirrhosis and chronic hepatic cirrhosis can also be
dismissed because of the normal level of albumin in blood. This implies that no anomalies were
present thus signifying accurate results.
An advantage of the test was that the blood samples used are one of the leading analysis preferences
chosen to identify biomarkers, and easily obtainable from patients. However, as direct assay was
unavailable, Bromocresol green solution was used which changed the electronic structure thus specific
whilst binding to albumin. As a result, this generates accurate results with no anomalies for both
serum and blood. Moreover, within the expense limitations of University of Chester, a simple assay
was used (Rehm, 2006) expands that BCA assay may have been used

Jorge Lima s Ted Talk Speech
The circle of life has continued. Something has died, and now something new must take its place. In
this case, that something is the ancient metaphor of the tree, but what is the something new? Manuel
Lima believes that he has discovered a new metaphor that is on the horizon. In Lima s TED Talk
speech A Visual History of Human Knowledge, Lima discusses the metaphor of the tree of knowledge
and how it connects all things. Lima s primary concern is that this picture is outdated and offers a new
alternative: the network. Lima is correct that the metaphor of the tree is outdated; however, the
network is not a sufficient replacement. The metaphor is lacking in many areas ranging from
showcasing accurate connections to fulfilling the basic purposes of a metaphor. Lima begins his
speech by analyzing the ways humans have been organizing information throughout the centuries. He
discusses the origins of the tree metaphor to describe the wealth of information that was being
discovered at that time and how the metaphor essentially took the world by storm. He provided
examples of the tree in instances ranging from family lineage to Darwin s Tree of Life ; however,
Lima has come to the conclusion that the tree is outdated, and society is begging for a new, more
accurate representation of knowledge and being. He states that nowadays we are really facing new
complex, intricate challenges that cannot be understood by simply employing a simple tree diagram
(Lima). With all

Masculine Vs. Feminine Power in The Good Earth
Masculine Versus Feminine Power In many cultures, even today, there are stereotypes about women;
i.e. that their job is to cook and clean, or that they are not as strong as men are. Many people would
probably admit that they view men as tougher individuals whose responsibility is to protect and put
food on the table. This theme of the male versus female power constitutes as prevalent in both Things
Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe and The Good Earth by Pearl Buck. These authors intricately weave this
idea into their novels through their characters specific duties, their characters behaviors and emotions,

Both novels characterize men as the hard workers, but it is clear the women also have many difficult
tasks expected of them. It is true that personality differs from person to person, but to Okonkwo, only
certain behaviors and emotions are acceptable for a man. He seems to regard all other emotions and
behaviors as too womanly. Achebe characterizes Okonkwo as one who has a fiery temper, and
Okonkwo is even given the nickname Roaring Flame . Okonkwo strived to hate everything his father
had loved. One of those things was gentleness and another was idleness (Achebe 11). Okonkwo s
wives are truly terrified of him and therefore they remain very soft spoken, and do not show their
emotions often. Wang Lung also shows his temper, and hides other emotions. Such as when O lan s

girls are. Okonkwo expects his boys to be strong clansmen like himself, and is extremely

Psychological Theories Of Aggression
With new fads and hoaxes being created and revived daily on the internet it can be helpful to have a
healthy amount of skepticism when approaching these topics. From gamers and game makers
claiming that children have free will and many parents saying that children say and do what they see it
can be difficult to tell where the truth lies. By using psychological studies on the behavior of observers
the truth can be much less murky. If children watch their parents and repeat what they say, then it can
be predicted that they would do the same for other sources of information as well, including the
media.
Media affect theories in modern times originated with Bandura s social learning theory, which
suggests that children may learn aggression from viewing others. This modeling of behavior was first

The working definition of aggression, as stated in Violent Media Effects, is any actions directed
toward an individual that is carried out with the intent to cause them harm. The perpetrator must also
believe that the actions will harm the target and that the target would be motivated to avoid the
behavior (Groves, C. L., Prot, S., Anderson, C. A, 2016, pg.3). While it is important to know about
horrific acts of violence so that the human race can avoid repeating them, watching such crude acts is
not crucial.
Technological advancements have given rise to unprecedented access to television shows, movies, and
video games. Scientists have dedicated much of their attention on how media, particularly violent
media, influences viewers, and players. It is important to keep a child s innocence while still allowing
them to explore the world around them, and acts of violence are one thing they don t need to witness.

A Brief Note On Crime And Crime Rates
Crime is one of the major issues that America has been facing for over one hundred years. Although
crime has been steadily decreasing ever since the 1990 s there are still a lot of room for improvement.
With this issue bring many subsequent problems, such as incarcerated people per capita. This doesn t
only have an extreme burden on those incarcerated and their families, but also on the federal
government. This costs them billions of dollars every year to control delinquent behavior but it still
hasn t worked to its full potential. There are three topics containing four variables that must be
considered when attempting to reduce crime rates. This includes police, surveillance, and federal
assistance. The variables they produce are, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first studied found there was a strong correlation between the rate at which someone is arrested
for an offense and the rate of the same offense (Tittle and Rowe, 1974). This was mostly seen in
robberies, when a robber was arrested the rate of robberies would slightly decrease. This poses two
reason of the decrease, either the other people who frequently rob people do it less frequently because
they are frightened to also be arrested, or that the robber who was arrested was a repeat offender. This
is interesting because it doesn t have to be one or the other, the reality is that there is most likely a mix
of both happening. This effect was examined by another researcher who coined the term the tipping
effect, and understood that clearance rates only affect some crime rates and not in others depending on
the offense (Bailey n.d.). This means that the clearance of a crime, which is the closing of an open
case, either by arrest, death, etc. could not always positively impact the crime rate. This is not only a
difference in violent crimes and property crimes because there was a negative association found in
property crimes and clearance rates (Logan, 1975).
This poses four main problems, first the fact that crime rates and clearance rates directly influence
each other. This is a major road block that is preventing the causal effect of the independent variable
on the crime

War Is Equally Physical And Emotional
War is equally physical and emotional; the art of war requires tactic and strength to participate in.
Advertisers use a battle strategy to convince the consumers and society that their product is worth
spending their money on. Unfortunately advertisers use unfair advantages such as celebrity
endorsements to convey and manipulate the consumer. The reinforcements are the elite in their
careers; these celebrities are fighting this battle become a role model for the an entire army and a
perfect image. The army presents a strong front and the villagers are forced to convert to.This was the
targeted objective of the reinforcements: to interfere with the army s perspection of themselves and
society. The advertisers sell a fantasy where women are promised results that will never be fulfilled
and has a harmful and have negative effects on their career, sexual psychosocial, and cognitive
development.
According to the Levine, sexualization is the inappropriate imposition of sexuality upon a person,
whether through objectification, overvaluing,or emphasizing the person s appearance and/or sexual
behavior . Over several decades, women have been transformed into developing a pornified culture:
Social media has stimulated the sexualization rates of women and girls from 44% of women in the
1960s to 83% of women in the 2000s due to the several overwhelming media techniques such as
advertisements, magazines, movies, television, and films (USA Today 1). These images illustrate the

Technology, Belief Systems and the Individual in Dune and Foundation Technology and belief have a great deal to do in making a good science fiction novel. Frank Herbert s Dune and Isaac Asimov s Foundation Series give excellent examples of this. Belief systems are defined as religious beliefs in a society. Technology is defined as the level of science achieved in a society. These two factors play separate roles in a society. Yet, at times, they fall into the same categories like in the book Dune where science reflects religious aspects or in Foundation where the society depends on religion and social behavior to survive the onslaught of advanced technology. Religion might be a fuel to achieve a specific level of technology. Such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After this church, came the Bene Gesserit, who privately denied that their order was a religious order, but in fact, all of their teachings and beliefs were quite religious. Following this religious order, came an age of agnostic rule. In this time, people thought religion was a type of theatrical way to keep the people amused and believed that all phenomenon even unexplained phenomenon could be reduced to simple scientific explanation. As time changed, the fourth religious movement was the Ancient Teachings. These ancient teachings included Zensunni Wanderers, the Navachristianity of Chusuk, the BuddIslamic Variants of the types dominant at Lankival and Sikun, the Blend Books of the Mahayana Lankavatara, the Zen Hekiganshu of III Delta Pavonis, the Tawrah and Talmudic Zabur and the Muadh Quran. Frank Herbert s imagination takes us through all of these religious orders to show the chaos in our own society s religious failings. All of these religious beliefs have shaped the final religion of Arrakis which is called the religion of the Muad Dib. Yet, there is still one truly final religion of sorts that has affected the people of Arrakis more than any other spiritual religion and this following is known to many of us as Space Travel. Mankind s movement through deep space amazed the people of Arrakis and slowly these people thought of space travel as a religion and not a science. This is due to actual science of ... • 6. A Separate Peace Essay As Carl Jung once stated, Man s task is to become conscious of the contents that press upward from the unconscious . To reach a peaceful reconciliation, one must learn to embrace two distinct elements of their personality, the Persona and Shadow. Likewise, in the bildungsroman, A Separate Peace, author John Knowles depicts the common rivalry between young adolescents, and how they struggle to accept their identity and the relationship between their unconscious self. Gene, a Devon High student, becomes best friends with Finny and grows jealous of his ostensibly flawless friend, causing him to make a life changing decision. His struggles to reach an inner balance between his Persona and Shadow lead to the ultimate death of Finny. Gene s transformation involves the changes of his mask and Shadow from guilt and jealousy to pride and tolerance which results in the later acceptance of the light and dark parts of himself, allowing him to truly reach adulthood and a state of peace. Essentially, Gene s conflict begins as he develops feelings of envy towards Finny s outgoing personality and appealing charisma, which causes him to hide behind a persona in the one sided rivalry he has with Finny. When Gene flunks a test for the first time, he finds an excuse to justify his failure, concluding that Finny purposely interrupted his studies by inviting him to the beach. Gene reasons, Sure, he wanted to share everything with me, especially his procession of D s in every subject. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Williams also states that parents who do not want their children to smoke must quit themselves. Children learn what they live, it s not enough for parents to say, do what I say and not what I do , Williams said. She also believes that advertisements play a very strong role in influencing the children. (Philippine Journal, November 20, 1998) Parents are the single most important influence on their children s decision to smoke, drink, or use drugs, yet many parents do not fully understand the extent of their influence. (Philip Morris USA, n.d.) Kids do understand that smoking is dangerous, but many of them try it anyway out of curiosity, low self esteem, peer pressure, the need to establish their own independent identities, and to rebel against their parents. (Rodrigo Cuenca, M., Philippine Star, p. E 1, August 5, 2003) According to the book, Peddling Poison: The Tobacco Industry and Kids, Many young people have the false impression that the effect of smoking and other tobacco use are problems they will only have to face much later in life. Many youth who start smoking think they can quit the habit easily. (Snell, C., 2005) Another reason is related to physical appearance. Why Gay Men and Straight Women Have Such Close Relationships In a society where homosexuality is an ever growing topic, one might wonder why gay men tend to have the closest relationships with straight women. Ellen DeGeneres once said, every straight woman has a gay best friend by their side. Why is this? I decided to read and write about an experiment that was done to answer the question of why gay men and straight women have such close relationships. The article s title is, Friend with Benefits, but Without the Sex: Straight Women and Gay men Exchange Trustworthy Mating Advice. Previous research has been done on this topic and found that women tend to enjoy a gay man s companionship because there is not sexual strings attached and bias advice. Gay men find straight women to be extremely trustworthy. Prior research not only compared homosexual males vs. straight women, but homosexual males vs. homosexual males relationships and the same with women. For the current research in this article, researchers hypothesized that the trustworthiness and honesty that often characterizes gay male straight female friendships may be rooted in mating relevant domains. Basically, with the absence of deceptive mating motivations, one is able to fully feel comfortable and honest within the friendship and not have to worry that they are being hit on. This experiment was done in two parts. The first experiment was known as straight women s perceptions, and the second experiment was known as gay men s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But her look of reply was quite sufficient; she had not come without counting the cost. Her belief in the Pythagorean doctrine of transmigration was firm and fixed; and she looked forward, without a doubt, to secure for herself and her husband, by this sacrifice, a new life of happier existence, and more refined enjoyments than the sordid realities which the world now offered... This quote, recorded by Richard Hartley Kennedy, a 19th century British surgeon living in British India exemplifies the almost macabre fascination with the Hindu rite of widow burning known as Sati that the Western World has developed over the course of the last several hundred years. Perhaps, this morbid obsession originated with the Western World seeing in Sati a Romeo and Juliette like expression of true love. Subsequently, the West s fascination can perhaps be credited to the ensuing human rights controversy that this rite has generated over the course of the past two hundred years. Regardless as to the reason of why the West has taken an interest in this rite, I will attempt in this paper to decipher and interpret this ritual mostly through the lens of a Western philosopher of religion, Mircea Eliade. Eliade, in his work The Sacred and The Profane: The Nature of Religion, postulates that for modern men to truly understand religion, they must remove themselves from contemporary ... The Poisoner s Handbook By Deborah Blums Best Selling Book The film that I am reviewing, title The Poisoner s Handbook, is based on Deborah Blums best selling book, of the same title, which reflects on the most notorious cases between the years of 1918 and 1959 that were handled by Charles Norris, the chief medical examiner for New York City, also known and described by his peers as the father of forensic toxicology in America, and Alexander Oscar Gettler, toxicologist with the Office of Chief Medical Examiner of the City of New York, such as the fatal radium poisoning of the factory workers who contracted radiation poisoning from painting watch dials with self luminous paint at the Orange, New Jersey watch factory around the year 1917 and other cases that involve dangerous poisons, like arsenic, methanol, lead, carbon monoxide, denatured alcohol, radium and thallium. Their renowned work led to tougher regulations by the government and the creation of the Food and Drug Administration. The film depicts how the average American s medicine cabinet, in the early 1900s, was a treasure chest of dangerous poisons that could make you ill, put you in a coma, and even kill you. These poisons were readily found in health tonics, depilatory creams, teething medicine, and cleaning supplies. In the early 1920s, medical examiners and coroners were appointed by the mayor and were responsible for investigating every suspicious death in New York City. They will present physical evidence of him with the dagger, him conspiring with his wife, and him hiring men to kill. However, the evidence presented today by the defense will tell the true story: a man overtaken by mental illness. The extent of his mental disorder has manifested in hallucinations and the gradual unraveling of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Macbeth may talk of big plans to assassinate Duncan, but at the root he is still a good person. His description predicts the eventual effect of his actions: total and complete loss of rational self, and slippage into full blown psychosis. Following this point, Macbeth should not be held accountable for his crimes, as he goes completely insane. A characteristic of narcissistic personality disorder is heavy hallucinations, caused by a fantasy the person has imagined for themselves. Even before he murders Duncan, Macbeth s delusion of him becoming king manifests through hallucinations involving murder imagery. As he walks towards Duncan s room, a floating dagger, only visible by him, leads him there. The mirage he has placed himself in, where he is king of Scotland, has caused his subconscious to produce delusions, Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not and yet I see thee still (2.1.44 45). Later in the text, Pecola finally goes to Junior s home to see the cat, and Junior promptly throws the cat in her face and locks them both in a room (89 90). But as Pecola stays in the sealed room, something odd begins to happen. She looks down at the cat, and the text gives us a description of the cat as black all over, deep silky black, and his eyes, pointing down toward his nose, were bluish green (90). Originally, then, the cat s eyes are described as bluish green until Pecola sees the light hit them in a certain way, then they shift to blue. The text continues, The light made them shine like blue ice. Pecola rubbed the cat s head; he whined, his tongue flicking with pleasure. The blue eyes in the black face held her (90). Notably, the moment that the light changes the eyes of the cat to blue, Pecola begins to show it affection, and the cat begins to show signs of happiness. • 25. Themes In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken THE ROAD NOT TAKEN Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken, is a poem, or even a tale many readers will relate to. It is a narrative of the choices in life and the crossroads in which the individual is faced with. In the lines, there is quite clarity in the decisions and feelings of Frost throughout. His use of imagery to paint beautiful landscapes and countless sub thoughts is extraordinary, yet he does it with such few words. Although one could see this poem for how it reads and view the story of a solemn traveler pacing down a road, when diving deep into its actual text one sees that Frost is trying to paint a much deeper picture. This metaphor of a poem is written a way that anybody who reads it can understand and relate. From each of the simple lines to the groupings of intricately placed words, this work of art brings out the meaning and passion in a well lived life. In the first stanza the setting is laid out before us. A fork in the road in the middle of a yellow wood. These two paths are unknown to the solemn traveler. The first line in the poem states yellow wood, which gives the feeling that it would be more of an autumn season. The autumn season is the beginning of dormancy in the forest life. It also signals the nearing end of another joyous year. In life we have cycles just like the seasons cycle. Periods of new growth such as spring or a new relationship perhaps. Summer, where we are enjoying the things we have to the fullest. There is fall, when something nears to an end such as a vacation, the ending of the year or maybe childhood when one must think about getting out in the world. Then, there is winter: the darker portion of the cycle of life. The point in which we are waiting for the new to begin or praying for the hurt to subside. This cycle of life, and particularly the season of autumn, seems to pair up with the fork in the road or the point where the traveler is ending this stretch of road and must embark upon a new path. Just as it is in life when one period begins to draw to an end we must begin to think of the next set of choices or paths to take. Most options in life do not allow for someone to have both. Just as the traveler we, too, must choose a path for ourselves. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An activist for Native American rights would go on to buy a building in Manhattan with the hopes of restoring it into a prayer house, which would be owned and operated by the Lenape Nation. • 32. Summary Of The Scarlet Letter Section 1 In The Scarlet Letter Section 1: Section 1 of the Scarlet Letter covered chapters 1 3. These chapters set the premise for the story. Speak out the name! That, and thy repentance, may avail to take the scarlet letter off thy breast. Never! replied Hester Prynne, looking, not at Mr. Wilson, but into the deep and troubled eyes of the younger clergyman. (58) This peaked my interest as I too wanted to know who the father is. I also thought it was wrong the way they tried to bribe her into telling who the father is. I chose this quote because I feel like that is a hint as to who the father is because she looked at the clergyman . Section 2: Section 2 we get to know more about Hester Prynne s little girl named Pearl and her former husband Roger Chillingworth who vows revenge. An imp of evil, emblem and product of sin, she had no right amongst christened infant. (77) I highlighted this out of my book because I just completely disagreed with that statement. I feel like no matter how the child was brought into the world it shouldn t be looked upon as an evil being. Every child is a blessing and has a purpose so I just didn t agree with this and the fact it said she had no right amongst christened infants. Section 3: I will never give her up! And here, by a sudden impulse, she turned to the young clergyman, Mr. Dimmesdale... I will not lose child! Speak for me! Thou knowest, for thou hast sympathies which these men lack. • 34. How the Characters of Macbeth and the Duke in My Last... I am examining the characters of the Duke and Macbeth and how they can be considered disturbed characters. The play, Macbeth and poem, My Last Duchess both show psychological truths and insights into the characters. While the Duke shows himself to be disturbed straight away in the poem, Macbeth s mental deterioration takes place and develops as the play proceeds. Macbeth written by William Shakespeare and set in 1050 contains themes of status, power and death while My Last Duchess by Robert Browning written in 1842 shows how status, wealth and the marriage market can affect a man s life. However as King, there is no one who has a higher status than his which then leads Macbeth to associate with people of a lower class than the people he is obligated to. When talking to the murderers it is pointed out that there is blood upon thy face which shows that Macbeth instigated the murder of a friends. The two scenes symbolise how Macbeth has become infatuated with power and is willing to do anything to keep it. This exhibits his obsessive nature. Macbeth s use of language in Act 5, Scene 5 infers that life is pointless. He suggests that life until we die means nothing. Creeps in this petty pace from day To the last syllable of recorded time. During this scene he finds out Lady Macbeth died, showing the extent that he relies on his wife. Shakespeare uses the scene to tell the audience that you can t control destiny and what happens in life. This relates to his disturbed mind as he tried to control his destiny. An emphasis is put on the fact the word tomorrow is repeated. It implies that Macbeth won t have a tomorrow. Shakespeare uses language to show how much Macbeth has changed throughout the play. • 35. Analysis Of Rona Inc. Largest Canadian Distributor And... RONA Inc is the largest Canadian distributor and retailer of hardware, home renovation and gardening products. They employ 30,000 people at more than 800 corporate, franchise and affiliate locations across Canada. Within the last year RONA has undergone significant changes, hiring a new CEO and choosing to close down several locations, so it is a very interesting period moving forward for the company. This report will outline RONA s current financial position, current issues that may affect their position, and give a prediction as to the future performance of the company. It will also analyze several of RONA s key financial ratios, and compare them to those of Home Depot, a major competitor in the industry. As of December 30, 2012, RONA reported $1,311,342,000 in current assets, a majority of which being inventory and trade and other receivables. RONA carries a lot of inventory due to their relatively low profit margin and high inventory turnover, who s numbers we explain further later in this paper. RONA has $813,901,000 in fixed assets, which make up about 29% of their reported $2,806,458,000 in total assets. This means that RONA does use a fair amount of operating leverage in their business. There are a few conclusions we can come to when looking at RONA s current debt and equity. Their total debt of $922,882,000 and total equity of $1,883,576,000 give them a 0.49 debt to equity ratio. For the Japanese and Korean immigrants, they faced challenges including: segregated schools, the Gentlemen s Agreement, and the California Alien Land Law. However, these immigrants did not expect the unfair treatment that came along with the work they set out to do in America. Japanese laborers were at first recruited to work on the sugar plantations of the independent monarchy of Hawaii. Some of them left Japan in 1868 on a three year contract. These men faced brutal working conditions and low wages which led most of them to return to Japan. • 38. The Effect Of Serum Albumin On Blood And Urine Samples... 77 citations. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Firstly, a test to determine the concentration of serum albumin in both blood and urine samples were carried out. Table 1 demonstrates that Patient B discharged 43mg/mL of serum albumin which was within the normal literature reference range provided. Low serum albumin levels are usually associated with acute glomerulonephritis, the normal albumin levels for Patient B implies that acute glomerulonephritis could be eliminated from list of conditions provided. Thus suggested for both Patient B and Patient N there were no leakage of the serum albumin in the urine. Nevertheless, (McClatchey, 2002) identified that low albumin levels may also signify impaired liver function. Conditions such as hepatic cirrhosis and chronic hepatic cirrhosis can also be dismissed because of the normal level of albumin in blood. This implies that no anomalies were present thus signifying accurate results. An advantage of the test was that the blood samples used are one of the leading analysis preferences chosen to identify biomarkers, and easily obtainable from patients. However, as direct assay was unavailable, Bromocresol green solution was used which changed the electronic structure thus specific whilst binding to albumin. As a result, this generates accurate results with no anomalies for both serum and blood. Moreover, within the expense limitations of University of Chester, a simple assay was used (Rehm, 2006) expands that BCA assay may have been used ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Jorge Lima s Ted Talk Speech The circle of life has continued. Something has died, and now something new must take its place. In this case, that something is the ancient metaphor of the tree, but what is the something new? Manuel Lima believes that he has discovered a new metaphor that is on the horizon. In Lima s TED Talk speech A Visual History of Human Knowledge, Lima discusses the metaphor of the tree of knowledge and how it connects all things. Lima s primary concern is that this picture is outdated and offers a new alternative: the network. Lima is correct that the metaphor of the tree is outdated; however, the network is not a sufficient replacement. The metaphor is lacking in many areas ranging from showcasing accurate connections to fulfilling the basic purposes of a metaphor. Lima begins his speech by analyzing the ways humans have been organizing information throughout the centuries. He discusses the origins of the tree metaphor to describe the wealth of information that was being discovered at that time and how the metaphor essentially took the world by storm. He provided examples of the tree in instances ranging from family lineage to Darwin s Tree of Life ; however, Lima has come to the conclusion that the tree is outdated, and society is begging for a new, more accurate representation of knowledge and being. He states that nowadays we are really facing new complex, intricate challenges that cannot be understood by simply employing a simple tree diagram (Lima). With all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This theme of the male versus female power constitutes as prevalent in both Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe and The Good Earth by Pearl Buck. Psychological Theories Of Aggression With new fads and hoaxes being created and revived daily on the internet it can be helpful to have a healthy amount of skepticism when approaching these topics. From gamers and game makers claiming that children have free will and many parents saying that children say and do what they see it can be difficult to tell where the truth lies. By using psychological studies on the behavior of observers the truth can be much less murky. If children watch their parents and repeat what they say, then it can be predicted that they would do the same for other sources of information as well, including the media. While it is important to know about horrific acts of violence so that the human race can avoid repeating them, watching such crude acts is not crucial. Although crime has been steadily decreasing ever since the 1990 s there are still a lot of room for improvement. With this issue bring many subsequent problems, such as incarcerated people per capita. This doesn t only have an extreme burden on those incarcerated and their families, but also on the federal government. This costs them billions of dollars every year to control delinquent behavior but it still hasn t worked to its full potential. There are three topics containing four variables that must be considered when attempting to reduce crime rates. This includes police, surveillance, and federal assistance. The variables they produce are, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first studied found there was a strong correlation between the rate at which someone is arrested for an offense and the rate of the same offense (Tittle and Rowe, 1974). This was mostly seen in robberies, when a robber was arrested the rate of robberies would slightly decrease. This poses two reason of the decrease, either the other people who frequently rob people do it less frequently because they are frightened to also be arrested, or that the robber who was arrested was a repeat offender. This is interesting because it doesn t have to be one or the other, the reality is that there is most likely a mix of both happening. This effect was examined by another researcher who coined the term the tipping effect, and understood that clearance rates only affect some crime rates and not in others depending on the offense (Bailey n.d.). This means that the clearance of a crime, which is the closing of an open case, either by arrest, death, etc. could not always positively impact the crime rate. This is not only a difference in violent crimes and property crimes because there was a negative association found in property crimes and clearance rates (Logan, 1975). This poses four main problems, first the fact that crime rates and clearance rates directly influence each other. This is a major road block that is preventing the causal effect of the independent variable on the crime ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
