Descriptive Essay About Restaurant
Amazing restaurants are few and far in between. It seems as if there is always something negative that
could be said about even the best restaurants in the country, not even one is entirely perfect. It s
incredibly hard to find a great restaurant that has attentive servers, high quality food served in a timely
manner, a friendly atmosphere, and overall cleanliness. Incredibly, I have found an impeccable
restaurant that not only meets all of the criteria listed above, it exceeds them. Uno s Pizzeria Grill in
Dayton Ohio has absolutely amazed me with unbeatable service, food, and much more every time I
have dined with them. On my way to one of the performances at the Schuster Center in Dayton, my
family and I decided to by a pizzeria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As soon as we were seated I noticed just how clean the entire restaurant was even though it was
incredibly packed. Due to the fact that the show we planned on attending started soon, we informed
our waiter that we were in quite a big hurry. We ordered our drinks and appetizers and I headed off to
the restroom to wash my hands before the food arrived. The restroom was just as pristine as the rest of
the restaurant, there were no giant globs of soap all over the counter, they had high energy efficient
hand dryers, and all toiletries were stocked. Even the mirrors were spotless! It s often said that you can
judge the cleanliness of a restaurant s kitchen by the cleanliness of the restrooms. With the
spotlessness of this restroom, I wasn t the least bit worried about the cleanliness of the kitchen.
I returned back to the table not even five minutes later and our drinks, as well as our appetizers were
served! I couldn t believe how fast it came. We ordered spinach artichoke dip that was served in a
bread bowl. I d highly recommend this appetizer, it was truthfully life changing. As we enjoyed our
appetizer our waiter frequently returned to our table and conversed with us, as well as to check on the
quality of our food and get our orders for the main dish. He was very attentive and very considerate of
our time limitations, I was extremely impressed with him. The menu had a wide variety of options

Biological Diversity
Effects of Loss of Biological Diversity
As the loss of biological diversity or biodiversity continues to increase at unprecedented rates, it
leaves a long lasting effect on the environment of the planet Earth. Such effects are so threatening that
they can claim human lives in the near future.
Humans are clearing forests (deforestation) to occupy more land to urbanise more areas. Thus, as
humans continue to exploit the habitat of animals and plants for their own selfish needs, they harm the
entire environment of the earth. The deforestation has resulted in a variety of animals, which dwell in
that area, to leave the habitat. This is quite alarming as it could result in the loss of those species
diversity in the future.
The precious natural resources of the green earth are excessively exploited by humans. This includes
overharvesting animals to the extent that these species become extinct. It also includes
overconsumption of natural resources such as timber and fossil fuel which take years to regenerate.
This is a direct threat to biodiversity.
Humans pollute the environment in every way they can. They pollute the air with harmful pollutants
such as carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) and nitrogen oxides produced
by industry and motor vehicles. These greenhouse gases are, in turn, destroying the ozone layer. The
ozone layer reflects the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. As this layer is being affected now, humans
are becoming more prone to

Augustine Of Hippo ( 354-430 )
Augustine of Hippo (354 430) was a North African man who took an extremely tumultuous path to
sainthood. In his early years, he led a crazy and immoral lifestyle. A driven professor of rhetoric,
Augustine s had lofty worldly goals and a weak sense of conscience. His intense drive to be successful
would later create a major problem for him when trying to fully give his life to God. At an early age,
Augustine began thinking his mother s strong sense of Christianity was too uneducated for him.
Because he was used to his scholarly readings, he found the Bible to be written in an extremely
unsophisticated way. This, along with questions behind the truth of the Old Testament, led him to
convert to Manichaean beliefs as a young man. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of his dealings with Faustus, Augustine learns an important lesson that content is more
important than delivery when looking for spiritual truth. During Augustine s time as a Manichaean, he
converses with Faustus, a North African sage who is known to be extremely persuasive in Manichaean
beliefs. This takes place when Augustine is in Carthage at age twenty nine. Augustine truly admires
his eloquence in speaking, and he was delighted by the force and feeling he brought to his discourse
(Confessions V.vi.11). He is also impressed by Faustus modesty because of the fact that Faustus will
readily admit his lack of knowledge in certain subjects and won t proceed in an argument or
explanation unless he has sufficient knowledge. However, Augustine realizes that this lack of training
in liberal arts that Faustus exhibits leads to his inability to sufficiently answer the questions that
Augustine has about certain Manichaean beliefs (V.vii.12). Augustine is one of the few people that is
able to see through Faustus articulate and educated speech and realize that the content is lacking.
Because of this, Faustus, who had been for many a snare of death (Ps. 17:6), without his will or
knowledge had begun to loosen the bond by which [Augustine] had been captured (V.vii.13).
Augustine s conclusion that Faustus persuasive power wasn t rooted in substance but in his eloquent
discourse

The Health Promotion Initiative Of The Ottawa Charter
The Close the Gap campaign is a health promotion initiative that focuses on the lifestyle and decisions
of indigenous people in Australia as well as explaining how the Australian government needs to focus
on closing the gap of poor health between indigenous and non indigenous Australians. Through the
Close the Gap campaign it advocates the five action areas of the Ottawa Charter, which are of the
following:
Developing Personal Skills
Developing Personal Skills refers to the provision of information, education and training to supply an
individual with the skills to make informed decisions regarding their health.
Through the use of education and providing information and support, the individual is able to make
decisions that are of informed and of empowered nature.
Enabling people to learn throughout life and being able to prepare themselves for all of its stages is
essential especially when it s in relation to chronic illness and injuries. This has to be taught in school,
home, work and communities. Action is required through educational, professional, commercial and
voluntary bodies.
If an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander obtain skills that enable them to be empowered and self
reliant over their health, they will find it easier to make informed decisions regarding health. As a
result Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people will be exposed to better health.
Creating Supportive Environments
Creating supportive environments focuses on people being able

Why Is Marilyn Monroe A Mystery
Red lipstick. Bombshell blonde hair. Holding down a white dress. Iconic. Marilyn Monroe was icon
known by people all over the world. She was widely known for her iconic picture of her holding down
the front of her white dress when the wind blew up the grate. She quickly became the sex symbol of
the 60 s. But her death is still a mystery. The mystery of Marilyn Monroe is surrounded by two
theories: the Kennedy family had her killed or she died of a suicidal drug overdose.
Marilyn Monroe was an internationally known actress and star whose actions and whereabouts were
always known, but the death of the star is still a mystery. Even the time of her death is unknown.
There is no solid evidence what time she died. At 11 p.m August 4, Monroe was supposedly found
dead by her publicist Arthur Jacobs. But Marilyn s doctor wasn t called to the house until 3:40 a.m, 10
minutes after she was discovered at 3:30 a.m by her housekeeper (Newton 245). When the found

Exceptions For Wheelchair Basketball
Wheelchair basketball is played in accordance with NCAA rules with very few exceptions. These
exceptions are:
PLAYER Any individual who, because of permanent severe leg disability or paralysis of the lower
portion of the body, will benefit through participation in wheelchair basketball and who would be
denied the opportunity to play basketball, were it not for the wheelchair adaptation, is eligible.
WHEELCHAIR The height of the seat must not exceed 21 from the floor. The height of the foot
platform or first point of contact must be no more than 4 7/8 from the floor. Seat cushions are
permitted for medical and therapeutic reasons; a medium weight foam rubber is permitted (2
maximum thickness for Class III players and 4 maximum thickness for all other players). A heel strap
of 1 1/2 width (minimum) must be attached to the foot platform bars. Each chair must be equipped
with a roll bar or other protective device to ensure against damage to the playing surface.
CONTACT The chair is considered a part of the player. General rules of contact in regular basketball
(charging, blocking, etc.) apply to wheelchair basketball.
TIME LIMITS An offensive player cannot remain more than 3 seconds in the free throw lane while
the player s team is in possession of the ball.
DRIBBLE A player in possession of the ball may not push more than twice in succession with one or
both hands in either direction without tapping the ball to the floor again. Taking more than two
consecutive pushes constitutes a traveling violation. A player, may, however, wheel the chair and
bounce the ball simultaneously just as an ablebodied player runs and bounces the ball simultaneously
in regular basketball.
LOSS OF THE BALL If a player in possession of the ball makes any physical contact with the floor
or tilts the chair so far backward that the anti tip (safety) casters touch the floor, it is a violation and
the ball is awarded to the other team.
OUT OF BOUNDS A player is considered out of bounds when any part of the player s body or
wheelchair touches the floor on or outside the boundary.
PHYSICAL ADVANTAGE FOUL Because of the varying causes and manifestations (degrees) of
disability among participants, a basic rule of keeping firmly seated

Suspense In The Liars
The text We Were Liars written by E. Lockhart follows the summers of a group of teenagers,
collectively called The Liars. The narrator of the story, Cadence Sinclair, suffers from an accident on
their island, and loses most of her memory. Throughout the chapters, she pieces together the timeline
and finds out what truly happened the summer of her accident. The story focuses around the theme of
choices and power, and the author pushes the idea that all actions have consequences.
An interesting and important episode in the book was when Cadence discovers that her accident
involved her killing her friends. The Liars decided to set fire to one of the family houses on the island,
attempting to get rid of the family feud over who had power over it. As Cadence was on the ground
floor, the fire grew upwards, and her 3 friends died as the house burnt, and she was the only one able
to escape. To me, this is one of the most interesting scenes in the book, as even after the accident,
Cadence was having conversations and physical contact with them, though in the end, you find out
that they were merely hallucinations brought on from her head injury, or even ghosts. I liked how the
author did this, as she showed only minor hints throughout the book that they weren t alive, and it left
you guessing until the end of the book. The way the author creates a feeling of suspense throughout
the novel because of this left me wanting to keep reading. Cadence remembers the fire at first, but not

This is also to avoid having to change the design during construction resulting in delays and increased
costs. For this project a ground investigation survey was carried out between 10 June and 26 July. This
involved the excavation mechanically and by hand of trial pits and the drilling of exploratory holes.
Selected samples from the tests were collected to assess the presence of contamination and
geotechnical characteristics. Based on the ground investigation, potential for significant contamination
is considered low due to a lack of mobile contaminants that could potentially be released to the
environment. In addition the assessment carried out to find if groundwater, and surface water features
would not significant effect on soils or geology. (Highway agency 2015). Geotechnical design for

contaminated zones from one another. Interlocking piles are driven into the ground through the
unsaturated zone and the aquifer down into consolidated zone. The piles remaining above ground are
cut off after driving the barrier into the consolidated material. Fine granulated soil particles fill up the
gaps between the steel sheets. The weight of a building is transmitted to the ground through its

Analysis of Pauline Puyat’s TracksEssay
Analysis of Pauline Puyat s Tracks
One of the most striking characteristics of Pauline Puyat is her devout Catholicism and her desire to be
disconnected from the Ojibwa people. Throughout Tracks, she openly chooses Catholicism over her
native religion and abandons her native ways almost completely. When Pauline tries to help Fleur
prevent a miscarriage, she is literally held back by her conscious separation from the Ojibwa culture.
There are many things that Pauline fails to do to effectively prevent Fleur from miscarrying. The most
obvious is her failure to efficiently put together the herbal steep made of Alder: And I could not
remember the plant s configuration, even though its use was common enough for bleeding ... Show
more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pauline s personification of the plants only continues this idea of confusion and abandonment. Her
prayer to the Catholic God is almost ironic; Pauline is begging her God to help her remember the
practices that she thinks sacrilegious.
Pauline s Catholicism and her duties as an Angel of Death continue to control her for the rest of the
passage. Before giving Fleur the Alder (or whatever herb she actually grabbed) steep, Pauline is
captivated by her face: Fleur s eyes were closed. Her face was drained of color. I k new this look and I
was fascinated, rapt, as at other death and sickbeds (157). Here, Pauline forgets what she is doing for
Fleur and reverts to her duty as the Angel of Death, abandoning her Ojibwa ways for Catholicism.
This seems to create further confusion for Pauline, as Fleur must instruct her on what to do with the
alder plant. When Pauline puts herself to that task, she finds that she is unable to do anything because
the Lord overtook [her] limbs and made them clumsy...it must have been his terrible will (157).
Pauline feels that God does not want her to help Fleur, and is preventing her from doing so by
deadening her limbs. Although she is trying to help Fleur, she simply cannot. Pauline s claims that
clumsiness and forgetfulness of Ojibwa traditions is God s terrible will, are a claim of validity for both
her follies in this passage and her stubborn separations from the Ojibwa.

It has come to my attention, that employees are concerned over some issues with the health insurance
plan we offer, retirement and saving plans, as well as their time off and FMLA rights. I have come up
with an excellent employee benefit plan that would educate the employees on their rights and show
them how these benefits are best for their situations.
The employee benefit plan includes the different types of health insurance they can pick from that

funds or take the funds out with no penalties against you.
Time Off and FMLA Rights
We understand that things happen in a person life that must have actions taken as soon as possible.
There are a few options the employee has as far as time off or leave. All time off or leaves are unpaid
but the employee can choose the time off needed.
1. The fist leave/time off the company offers is a 10 day personal leave. This is for employees that
have worked out their 60 day probation period. You can request this leave only if your probation
period is over. This is an unpaid leave and employees must return to work after the 10 days or they are
considered as job abandonment at which time termination will follow. 2. The second leave/time off
granted to the employee is a 30 day personal leave. This is for employees that have worked out their
60 day probation period. You can request this leave only if your probation period is over. This is an
unpaid leave and employees must return to work after the 30 days or they are considered as job
abandonment at which time termination will follow.
3. The last leave/time off the company offers is FMLA. To qualify for time off through FMLA,
employees must be employed for 12 month and a minimum of 1,250

Mexican War
The most dramatic event in the history of relations between Mexico and the United States took place a
century and a half ago. (Document C, Paragraph 1) The Mexican War started in 1846, and ended in
1848. President Polk and Texas agreed that the Texas Mexico border was the Rio Grande River. But
when President James K. Polk heard Mexicans were the first to fire upon Americans at Texas, America
was prepared to go to war. The majority of Congress agreed on the war vote too. In the Senate, the
votes were 40 to 2, and in the House of Representatives it was 174 to 14. Restless spirits, discontented
at home ... joined them .... (Document D, Paragraph 3) Though the Mexicans were the first to start the
war, the Americans had a play in it too. There are many different perspectives on the Mexican War,
and many people wonder if it was reasonable or not. One opinion is that the United States was
unjustified in going to war with Mexico because America robbed Mexico, invaded Mexican territory,
and took advantage of Mexico s offers.
The Mexican War was not justified because America robbed Mexico. The American government acted
like a bandit who came upon a traveler. (Document C, Paragraph 4) America wanted to extend its
territory all the way to the Pacific Ocean. This longing caused the Americans to become greedy for
land, especially that belonged to Mexico. (Background Essay, Paragraph 6) After Texas claimed being

Persuasive Essay On Surveillance Of Employees
In general, employers are allowed to install video cameras within an organization, which may include
direct surveillance of employees. First of all, this can be done without significant legal concern, at
least when placed in areas open to view. Both public and private employees may seek to assert an
expectation of privacy, though constitutional protections apply to public, but not private employees.
The reasonable expectation of privacy is determined on a case by case basis considering specific
policies, practices, and other circumstances. Also, employers are not allowed to conduct surveillance
of employees who are engaged in protected concerted activities, including those of union organizers.
In this case, the liability for invasion of privacy would lie with the school principal rather than the
school district. The plaintiff s claim was supported by the Fourth Amendment in that sufficient
evidence was provided to prove that the employees have an expectation of privacy in their locker
room and office, and from the students and other staff members to change clothing or complete office
work without interruptions. It is recommended that if your organization uses video monitoring, to
inform employees that they are subject to monitoring and surveillance, even though such notice may
not be legally required. All things considered, employers and others are prohibited from intentionally
intercepting wire, oral, or electronic communications, which can be in the form of electronic,

What Caused The Seven Years War
I. An Introduction to The Seven Years War Despite its transformation into what many historians
consider to be the first global war, the Anglo French Seven Years War had rather humble beginnings.
That is, the war did not erupt simultaneously in all areas due to some incredibly catalytic event that
sent the two great European powers into an inevitable conflict. Rather, Britain and France went to war
over the little things. In spite of both France s and England s desires to remain defensive, minor
skirmishes and maneuvers over disputed lands increased misperceptions of the other s intentions,
which when amplified by miscommunications both between and within parties led to the war we know
today. Ultimately, the Seven Years could have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the case of the prelude to The Seven Years War, colonies would deliberately deceive their home
state, who would then act out in fear of the worst. There was perhaps no more egregious occurrence of
intentional deceit to state than when Governor Shirley of Britain s Massachusetts colony falsely
declared that there was a French invasion near the Kennebec River in Maine (then part of
Massachusetts). In addition to the information being blatantly wrong, communication failures between
colonies and states created a five month gap between when Shirley rescinded his initial claims, by
stating them as an error. Governor Shirley s news of an invasion in Maine arrived in Britain
concurrently with Governor Dinwiddie s news of an invasion in the Ohio Valley, making it seem in
Britain that the French had initiated all out war. Similar communication failures occurred on the
French side, when Duquesne falsely reported British positions, leading the French to take hysteric
defensive action. Without an officially embedded government in their colonies there was no method
for the French and British to discern the truth, and the powers were stuck in a survival dilemma, which
in this case led each to lash out against the other in fear that their presence in their colonies was about
to be eliminated. It is animal instinct to fight

Statistics Is The Most Popular Score Essay
Introduction
Statistics is not only part of a required to create on coursework in schools. Everywhere person looks,
statistics is around. Too many people think statistics is difficult though, but it is all around them in real
life. Three main descriptive statistics which make data easier to interpret, measure central tendency.
They are the mean, measured, and median. Each of these are averages, which everyone is exposed to
in everyday life (Stapel, n.d.). All three have specific uses in real life.
The Mode
The first measure, the mode, is the most popular score. To find the mode, one tallies the frequency of
each number or value. The mode becomes the group that occurs the most frequently (Averages, n.d.).
A set of numbers may have more than one mode when an equal number of occurrences takes place at
more than one value. Of course, a mode may not occur in a set of numbers if the numbers appear with
equal frequency (Henry, 2011). Next, a few examples of the mode are explained.
First, California Homeschool Network s election occurs annually. An election is a great example
explaining the method. The election consists of trustees that members vote for. When the election
closes, the results displaying the trustee who receives the most votes is the winner. This winner
received the largest number of tallies during the election count.
Another example of the mode is finding the average number of students in various programs at
National University determining which are the most

Abstract
This is an analysis of the culture at IBM and the impact that it has had on their success. Corporate
culture is significant in that it influences the behavior of everyone within an organization and, if
carefully crafted, can have a significant positive effect on organizational success (Certo and Certo,
2006, p. 423). Louis Gerstner proved this at IBM during his tenure from 1993 to 2002 when he
revived IBM by refocusing on their culture.

Watson, Jr. Thomas J. Watson, Jr. maintained the legacy and culture established by his father and
helped to establish IBM as the world s premier computer company with the introduction of the System

development and deployment of the System 360. That gamble paid off enabling IBM to garner over
90% of the exploding market for large computer systems. IBM s near monopoly in the large computer
marketplace provided tremendous growth and profitability for nearly 25 years. However, the personal
computer revolution of the 1980 s (started by IBM, ironically) brought the glory days of IBM to an

The impact of IBM s culture during its first 75 years was profound. To be an employee of IBM meant
being a part of IBM. If one were to ask an IBM employee whether an engineer, an executive, or a

whatever training they needed to again become productive. Even during the great depression of the
1930s, IBM maintained and even grew its employee base, enabling the company to capitalize on

Why Was LĂ©vi-Strauss Still Relevant Today
In this essay I will discuss why I believe that Claude LĂ©vi Strauss work is still relevant today and I
will focus on the role that he assigns to the social anthropologist. Claude LĂ©vi Strauss was the most
influential anthropologist theorist in France. His work which he contributed to anthropology still
remains to have significant relevance in todays contemporary anthropology. He was born on the 28th
of November 1908 and passed away on the 30th of October 2009. I will discuss his theory and what
he argued for and against. Anthropologists like Durkheim, De Saussure, Simiand, Rousseau, Jakobson
and Mauss and many more influenced LĂ©vi Strauss when it came to his work. First I would like to
explain the term anthropology according to (LĂ©vi Strauss, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
LĂ©vi Strauss discusses kinship, which in todays society is still very clear and important. Firstly when
anthropologists discuss kinship they are concerned with social behaviours and not biological facts and
the two sets of data are often so widely discrepant that it is often convenient to discuss kinship without
any reference to biology (Leach, 1973: 96). We have to break down kinship terms into individual
systems in order to see what relationship they have. Even though it states that kinship does not have to
do with biology there has to be link as it is obvious that a child is related to their mother just like she is
to her sister. LĂ©vi Strauss is interested in in the systems and not as much with terms of kinship. He
looks at the ties by which people are related, rather this be through siblingship and/or affinal
relationships. In society in order for a child to be seen as a legitimate child they need to have two
parents who are married. Society does not judge this opinion on the relationship between the child and
his/her parents but on the relationship between the parents themselves. This extremity has faded into
the background for the most part in the contemporary society but is still around in some cases as
everyone is always interested in your family dynamic. The way in which people are related is still of
great importance. LĂ©vi Strauss does not look at the basic relationships for example mother/daughter
and husband/wife, but he looks at the more complicated types of relationships such as the contrast
between father/son and mother s brother/sister s son. According to LĂ©vi Strauss in order for a kinship
structure to exist three types of family relations must always be present: a relation of consanguinity, a
relation of affinity and a relation of descent. (Leach, 1973: 101). Through LĂ©vi Strauss explanation of

My Experience With My Mentor
I can still remember the talk with my friends before September when I told them how scared I was to
take this course since I could not imagine me, myself, to handle a 90 minute class on my own. When I
was informed that I was assigned to an ALI level 6 class, I was shocked. I could not help thinking
about that I was actually a level 6 student last year and how could I teach students that had the same
language proficiency as I did. I was anxious, panic, confused and unsure about myself before my first
observation. I kept emailing my supervisor and told her how I was not confident about myself; I
remember I failed to speak English fluently for the beginning few weeks since I noticed that my
mentor and my students were judging me while I was speaking; I rewrote my lesson plan for more
than three times to meet my mentor s expectations... my voice might be a little bit shaky when I was
first observed. And I kept talking to make the class more teacher centered so that I could control the
class better. It is so magic that as soon as I accomplished my first class being observed, I felt released
and I felt that I learned something. It cannot be expressed verbally, but I could feel it. I gained
confidence and much more. Being more confident, my second lesson plan designing process still
nearly killed me. This time I had to search the materials myself. I went through the YouTube videos
and Google, pages after pages. I could not help even thinking about the lesson plan and designing

Thin Client Computer Lab Project
Introduction Computers are an integral part of 21st century life, and as such technology education is
recognized as part of the Illinois Learning Standards (ISBE, 2008). A computer lab is an efficient way
to deliver access to computers and the Internet to students. Traditional labs, like the one at Dvorak
Technology Academy, are populated with complete, standalone computer systems. In network terms
these are fat clients , because each workstation is a complete system, with its own memory and disk
space and performing most if not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A thin client lab will allow Dvorak to extend its financial resources by saving on new computer
resources and extending the life of existing assets. In addition, computer lab fat clients require
substantial maintenance to keep the systems in working order. While CPS s computer support systems
help with this task through programs like Deep Freeze, routine hardware maintenance as well as
software installs and updates not covered by CPS can be a significant drain on technology coordinator
resources. A thin client architecture can reduce the workload of the technology coordinators by
centralizing management and reducing the kinds of workstation maintenance that needs to be done.
Finally, thin client networks are very scaleable. If, in the future, web based applications or
productivity applications require more processing power than is currently available in the lab,
additional servers can be added to the system to handle the added load instead of upgrading all of the
workstations. As classroom desktop computers are upgraded, the older classroom machines can be
used as additional workstations in the lab, or replace failing lab systems, or deployed in a new lab.
Project description The Thin Client Computer Lab Project creates a computer laboratory built around

Social Mobility Of Poor Kids Should Depend On College...
Social Mobility of Poor Kids Should depend on College Education Andrew Simmons, author of the
article The Danger of Telling Poor Kids That College is the Key to Social Mobility, argues that
educators have utilized one tool in the toolbox to inspire minority students into believing that their
upward social mobility is dependent on four years of college education. These educators only
considered the difference in earning power of college graduates versus high school graduates to
buttress their argument. With so much emphasis on going to college, Simmons also contends that the
educators miss the boat and end up causing harm to the poor students. There is no denying that poor
students start from disadvantaged position compared to their white counterparts in high school, their
career parts seem to via in two different directions. Many of the poor students gravitate towards the
liberal arts colleges while the privileged kids dream of medical or law schools and becoming future
doctors and lawyers. Simmons offers the study conducted by Jean Anyon as another example of how
schools teaching poor students from low income families emphasize keeping students busy and
managing behavior, while a middle class school deemphasizes individual expression and in depth
analysis and reward the dutiful completion of specific rote tasks. Because the educators have stressed
so much on attending college, thirty two percent of students end up with a major they never intended

Gallipoli Film Analysis
This film analysis will define the importance of mateship and sportsmanship in the ANZAC culture of
Gallipoli (1981). Peter Weir film of the Gallipoli Campaign from 1915 196 revolves around the
mateship of Frank Dunne (Mel Gibson) and Archy Hamilton (Mark Lee) that binds them through
sportsmanship and military nationalism. The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC)
culture is typically based on the athleticism of soldiering culture, which allows Frank to become a
runner of information dispatches during the campaign. More so, Archy s speed is deferred because of
his patriotic desire to be on the front lines of the war. However, Frank and Archy are bound by the
mateship that they experience as alienated short distance runners, which ... Show more content on

The mateship of Archy and Frank is based on the sportsmanship culture of Western Australia, which
was a popular recruitment method for young men that joined ANZAC and, eventually, fought in the
Gallipoli Campaign. Archy is a the blindly loyal nationalist that relies on his running skills to put peer
pressure on Frank to join ANZAC. Frank initially declines, but the sportsmanship culture encourages a
deep bond with a fellow short distance runner in the effort to maintain mateship. However, there were
many different soldiers from a wide variety of backgrounds, such as lower class backgrounds, which
define a different and less romantic view of sportsmanship that Weir presents in this film. In reality,
man men from the lower working classes joined ANZAC as a way to avoid poverty and low wage
work. Archy and Frank s relationship is a heroic and romantic view of the Gallipoli Campaign, yet it
does show the horror and carnage of bloody murder of young men, such as Archy, that died in this
failed attack against the Turkish Army. In this manner, the film Gallipoli provides insight into some
aspects of mateship and sportsmanship between Archy and frank that was certainly valid, but it does
not provide a comprehensive and realistic understanding of the multiple perspectives of class status
and identity that defined enlistment in ANZAC in WWI.

Poachers Kill Magnificent Animals for Profit Essay
Lions and tigers, oh my! Some know animals such as these to be scary; other people understand these
animals to be a beautiful creation of Earth. Whether you are afraid of mighty beasts or simply in awe
of them, it astonishes many people when they realize how few of them are still alive. Rhinoceroses,
elephants, leopards, tigers, African lions, and many more creatures are all considered an endangered
species, and we are the reason they are deemed that way. The one element all of those animals have in
common is that they are valuable. Rhinoceroses are treasured for their horns; Elephants for their tusks.
Lions, tigers, and leopards are all wanted for their skins. These magnificent beings are some of the
main sources for poachers. Before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If any main predator species were to become extinct then prey species would no longer have any
factors regulating their population. Therefore, the prey would have an overproduction of offspring
which would cause a decrease in the plant life and have continuous damage down to the bottom of the
food chain. Eventually, the major disaster that would occur is the exhaustion of the food supply. Even
though poaching may seem unstoppable because of its supply and demand methods, many people and
countries have banded together to help stop the destruction of species and the detriments that follow.
One organization that is attempting to stop poaching is the Environmental Investigation Agency. The
EIA has spread awareness to many different areas and has been informing the public about how
vulnerable ecosystems are and the repercussions that will result if poaching continues. It also educates
people on the simple ways they can help reduce poaching such as refusing any illegal animal items or
parts offered to them. The United States, Canada, Taiwan, and Australia have also participated in the
plan to prevent poaching. All four countries have laws against finning sharks, or the process of
removing a shark s fins and then throwing back the body. Fisherman are allowed to catch sharks in
these countries, but they must retrieve all of the shark and keep it intact. Nearly all countries and

How Does Katniss Use Food In The Hunger Games
Suzanne Collins wrote the popular series The Hunger Games which became an extremely popular read
for young adults. Collin s novels contain a deeper meaning that is often overlooked unless you are
purposefully searching for it. There are many references to food in the novels, namely bread, that
outlines the sometimes brutal relationship that we have with food and the nature of our entertainment.
The series written by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games, spins an incredible story that surrounds
the main protagonist Katniss Everdeen. The story is set in the dystopian country of Panem where the
rich live lavishly in the Capitol and the poor lead hard lives within the thirteen districts that surround
it. Each district has a designated resource ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The phrase was coined in Roman times and was used by the Roman Emperors as a manipulation tactic
to diverge revolts that arise from a starving, unhappy populace using food and entertainment. The
Capitol nearly mirrors this policy through the abundant resources and distractions offered to the
wealthy who live within its borders. The difference is that while the Capitol supports the wealthy, they
do nothing for the discord that arises from the starvation in the districts, and instead worsen it for them
with an overpowering hand that controls all the food supply. There is no value placed on food within
the capitol the way there is within the districts, this can be seen within the novels as Katniss and Peeta
are offered pills that will make them puke up the food they ate so that they may indulge in more and
be able to sample all of the dishes offered. This was repulsive to both Peeta and Katniss as nearly
everyone from back home was starving and would do anything to have such unlimited and uncaring
access to food. When they expressed their concerns, the people around them didn t understand their
disgust and instead considered it rude that they wouldn t partake in the custom. The entertainment side
of the phrase is where Collins makes her novels gruesome. The hunger games that the children are put
through are televised across Panem, in both the Capitol and all

Food Safety Net Services ( Fsns )
A. As Merna explains, risk is the likelihood of undesirable occurrences happening in allotted time

(Investopedia, 2012). Food Safety Net Services (FSNS), is a well known company in the private
sector that started out in 1994. The company started off, when the owner discovered there was a need

Quality risks normally occur, when there are problems with staffing needs, which increase workload
and don t leave enough time for doing things necessary to maintain quality standards set by ISO
17025. Quality standards include logs maintaining temperature throughout the lab, such as in
incubators and fridges used for sample testing and supply storage, culture maintenance, and more.
Macroeconomic risks happen when there are economic downturns that occur suddenly, like in areas
where the company has a strong market foot hold, affecting sales growth. Client demand risk for
FSNS happens when the client needs the results for a particular result and they do not obtain it in a
timely manner causing them to not only lose precise time their product is sitting waiting to be shipped
out to consumers, but also losing money in the process, resulting in possible loss of a client to
competition and revenue loss. Industry consolidation risks cause FSNS to have less bargaining power
and price war. Not only that, it could also lead to inflated mark down on the prices for particular
sample tests. The reason for this risk is consolidation of the market and strategic alliance. Operation
risks occur when a facility isn t operated to set standard that fit into ISO 17025 guidelines. This occurs
by a lack of communication by management with techs and lack of organizing the lab in

When film first started gaining popularity, it want s as obvious that be connecting two different

enterprising pioneers of early cinema took hold that they began to manipulate their audience into
following a story their way and feeling it in those exact steps. Lev Vladimirovich Kuleshov a Soviet
filmmaker and film theorist in the 1920s who taught at and helped establish the world s first film

Kuleshov coined the term collective geography to describe cinema ability to link entirely unrelated

to manipulate the audience but in this they also recognized the audience has an active in creating

filmmaking was in organization.
In addition to his theoretical work, Kulsehov was also a director of many feature films and he was a
leader in Soviet montage theory, which was an approach to understanding and creating cinema that
relies heavily upon editing. Some consider Kulsehov the father of Soviet Cinema, having been the first
to publish about the formal possiblites of the medium and the power of montage editing.
A montage is French for assembly or edit, it involves pieces of footage to make a film. During the
Russian Revolution Kuleshov documented the war on the Eastern Front in documentary on the Red
Front in the 1920s. Around that time, Kuleshov was deeply impressed and

Home Ownership
The American Dream is the opportunity for individuals to prosper and succeed through hard work.
Many consider home ownership to be a critical aspect of the American Dream.
Home ownership is important for many reasons. Homes tend to create safer neighborhoods and
stabilize communities. Schools are built around strong communities which encourage and provide
education to the next generation. From a base economic level, when people buy homes, they also start
to spend money which helps grow the economy. The homeowner may buy refrigerators, sofas, tables,
lawn mowers, paint, etc. and may also engage multiple services and/or contractors for repairs and
construction projects.

The best investment one can make is in his or herself, but excessive debt detracts them from becoming
homeowners. Instead, they choose to rent or live with family members. They do not have enough cash
saved to make a down payment on a house. Also, housing prices are at historic highs and many low to
middle class people individuals have essentially become priced out of today s housing market. Income
inequality prevents people from being able to purchase a home. Collectively, these factors have led to
a low rate of home ownership in the U.S.
Current trends could prove problematic down the road, as home ownership creates wealth for families,
allows for upward mobility, and provides many important positive economic tailwinds. However, as
the housing crisis taught us, lending standards must be maintained and home owners need to be
educated about the economic costs and benefits of owning their own home.
To be sure, the American Dream is alive and well. However, with Millennials comprising the largest
demographic in the U.S. and not yet having embraced home ownership, only time will tell if housing
will play as large a role as it did in years

Zootopia is a mammal metropolis populated by anthropomorphic mammals where predators and prey

from living together peacefully. These factors include survival instincts, food supplies, climate and the
animal s temperament. The fact that we will never be able to make animals understand that working

Lions for example, are a lot more violent than bunnies and they can cause a lot more damage. It would
be very hard to teach them that violence is not always needed, because it is in their instincts. As of
now, we do not have a good way to communicate with animals. It would be impossible for us to get

Boccaccio says Heaven would indeed be heaven if lovers were there permitted as much enjoyment as
they had experienced , earth . Boccaccio in the introduction of his story bespeaks to women:

Luke And John Comparison
Comparison of Luke and John
The Synoptic Gospels are the primary three books of the New Testament, Matthew, Mark, and Luke.
These three books plus John are entitled the Gospels. they record the illustrious news of Jesus life,
death, and resurrection the establishment of our salvation. The Gospel of Matthew was record by
Matthew an apostle of Jesus. The Gospel of Mark was written by John Mark, a confidante of the
Apostle Peter. The Gospel of Luke was inscribed by the physician, Luke was a comrade and traveling
companion of the apostle Paul.
The first three Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke is called synoptic , because they have a mutual
interpretation (the word synoptic means together in sight ). Matthew, Mark, and Luke cover several of
the equivalent happenings of Jesus life. A greater part of them from Jesus ministry in Galilee.
Approximately 90 percent of Mark s evens of Christ are found in Matthew, and about 50 percent of
Mark is noted in Luke s gospel. All of the parables of Christ are established in the Synoptics.
Luke presents the human/natural man of Jesus. Luke used a longer description of Jesus birth, and

Advertisements Exploiting Children
Are current practises of advertising to children exploitative? What restrictions should be placed on
advertising to children?
Up until recently, parents had been the intended target audience for advertising efforts aimed for
children of young age groups. However it is now the children who have become the main focus. The
growth in advertising channels reaching children and the privatisation of children s media use have
resulted in a dramatic increase in advertising directly intended for the eyes and ears of children
(Wilcox et al. 2004). It is estimated that advertisers spend more than $12 billion a year on the youth
market with more than 40,000 commercials each year. The current practises of advertising to young
children definitely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore research on the language of advertisements, while used to promote products, may be
purposefully constructed to confuse younger children at lower levels of cognitive development.
Simple correlation research in the US indicates that children typically aged 2 6 years who view more
television advertising request more products from their parents. This is known as pester power. It has
been found that parents are more likely to buy products when kids ask for them in the shop (nag
factor). As children age, they develop the cognitive capacity to contextualise and act critically on the
observations made, reducing the amount of requests for products (Australian Communications and
Media Authority, 2007). Children who are exposed to TV commercials for toys not only develop the
initial idea for the toy but repeatedly pester their parents to buy it. This is exploitation on the parents
behalf as it often causes parent child conflict when the parents deny their children the product (Wilcox
et al. 2004).
Another troubling issue relating to child advertising exploitation is in reference to food ads. Half of
the advertisements in the UK directed at children concern food. There are little ads emphasising
healthy eating and since the start of television advertising, the largest proportion of ads aimed at
children has always been unhealthy food products (Gunter, Oates amp; Blades 2005). The Australian
Communications and Media Authority (2007) detailed the

The doctrine of rule of law proved to be effective and powerful weapon in keeping administrative
authorities within their limits . It served as a touchstone to test all administrative actions. The broad
principle of rule of law was accepted by almost all legal systems as a constitutional safeguard. The
first principle (Supremacy of law) recognizes a cardinal rule of democracy that every government
must be subject to law and not law subject to the government. It rightly opposed arbitrary and
unfettered discretion to the governmental authorities, which has tendency to interfere with rights of
citizens. The second principle (equality of law) is equally important in a system linked to democratic
polity. It is based on the well known maxim however high you may be, law is above you and all are
equal before the law The third principle puts emphasis on the role of judiciary in enforcing individual
rights and personal freedoms irrespective of their inclusion in a written constitution. Dicey feared that
mere declaration of such rights in any statute would be ineffective if they could not be enforced. He
was right when he said that a statute can be amended and fundamental rights can be abrogated. We

  • 2. Descriptive Essay About Restaurant Amazing restaurants are few and far in between. It seems as if there is always something negative that could be said about even the best restaurants in the country, not even one is entirely perfect. It s incredibly hard to find a great restaurant that has attentive servers, high quality food served in a timely manner, a friendly atmosphere, and overall cleanliness. Incredibly, I have found an impeccable restaurant that not only meets all of the criteria listed above, it exceeds them. Uno s Pizzeria Grill in Dayton Ohio has absolutely amazed me with unbeatable service, food, and much more every time I have dined with them. On my way to one of the performances at the Schuster Center in Dayton, my family and I decided to by a pizzeria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As soon as we were seated I noticed just how clean the entire restaurant was even though it was incredibly packed. Due to the fact that the show we planned on attending started soon, we informed our waiter that we were in quite a big hurry. We ordered our drinks and appetizers and I headed off to the restroom to wash my hands before the food arrived. The restroom was just as pristine as the rest of the restaurant, there were no giant globs of soap all over the counter, they had high energy efficient hand dryers, and all toiletries were stocked. Even the mirrors were spotless! It s often said that you can judge the cleanliness of a restaurant s kitchen by the cleanliness of the restrooms. With the spotlessness of this restroom, I wasn t the least bit worried about the cleanliness of the kitchen. I returned back to the table not even five minutes later and our drinks, as well as our appetizers were served! I couldn t believe how fast it came. We ordered spinach artichoke dip that was served in a bread bowl. I d highly recommend this appetizer, it was truthfully life changing. As we enjoyed our appetizer our waiter frequently returned to our table and conversed with us, as well as to check on the quality of our food and get our orders for the main dish. He was very attentive and very considerate of our time limitations, I was extremely impressed with him. The menu had a wide variety of options ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Biological Diversity Effects of Loss of Biological Diversity As the loss of biological diversity or biodiversity continues to increase at unprecedented rates, it leaves a long lasting effect on the environment of the planet Earth. Such effects are so threatening that they can claim human lives in the near future. Humans are clearing forests (deforestation) to occupy more land to urbanise more areas. Thus, as humans continue to exploit the habitat of animals and plants for their own selfish needs, they harm the entire environment of the earth. The deforestation has resulted in a variety of animals, which dwell in that area, to leave the habitat. This is quite alarming as it could result in the loss of those species diversity in the future. The precious natural resources of the green earth are excessively exploited by humans. This includes overharvesting animals to the extent that these species become extinct. It also includes overconsumption of natural resources such as timber and fossil fuel which take years to regenerate. This is a direct threat to biodiversity. Humans pollute the environment in every way they can. They pollute the air with harmful pollutants such as carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) and nitrogen oxides produced by industry and motor vehicles. These greenhouse gases are, in turn, destroying the ozone layer. The ozone layer reflects the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. As this layer is being affected now, humans are becoming more prone to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Augustine Of Hippo ( 354-430 ) Augustine of Hippo (354 430) was a North African man who took an extremely tumultuous path to sainthood. In his early years, he led a crazy and immoral lifestyle. A driven professor of rhetoric, Augustine s had lofty worldly goals and a weak sense of conscience. His intense drive to be successful would later create a major problem for him when trying to fully give his life to God. At an early age, Augustine began thinking his mother s strong sense of Christianity was too uneducated for him. Because he was used to his scholarly readings, he found the Bible to be written in an extremely unsophisticated way. This, along with questions behind the truth of the Old Testament, led him to convert to Manichaean beliefs as a young man. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of his dealings with Faustus, Augustine learns an important lesson that content is more important than delivery when looking for spiritual truth. During Augustine s time as a Manichaean, he converses with Faustus, a North African sage who is known to be extremely persuasive in Manichaean beliefs. This takes place when Augustine is in Carthage at age twenty nine. Augustine truly admires his eloquence in speaking, and he was delighted by the force and feeling he brought to his discourse (Confessions V.vi.11). He is also impressed by Faustus modesty because of the fact that Faustus will readily admit his lack of knowledge in certain subjects and won t proceed in an argument or explanation unless he has sufficient knowledge. However, Augustine realizes that this lack of training in liberal arts that Faustus exhibits leads to his inability to sufficiently answer the questions that Augustine has about certain Manichaean beliefs (V.vii.12). Augustine is one of the few people that is able to see through Faustus articulate and educated speech and realize that the content is lacking. Because of this, Faustus, who had been for many a snare of death (Ps. 17:6), without his will or knowledge had begun to loosen the bond by which [Augustine] had been captured (V.vii.13). Augustine s conclusion that Faustus persuasive power wasn t rooted in substance but in his eloquent discourse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These exceptions are: PLAYER Any individual who, because of permanent severe leg disability or paralysis of the lower portion of the body, will benefit through participation in wheelchair basketball and who would be denied the opportunity to play basketball, were it not for the wheelchair adaptation, is eligible. WHEELCHAIR The height of the seat must not exceed 21 from the floor. The height of the foot platform or first point of contact must be no more than 4 7/8 from the floor. Seat cushions are permitted for medical and therapeutic reasons; a medium weight foam rubber is permitted (2 maximum thickness for Class III players and 4 maximum thickness for all other players). A heel strap of 1 1/2 width (minimum) must be attached to the foot platform bars. Each chair must be equipped with a roll bar or other protective device to ensure against damage to the playing surface. CONTACT The chair is considered a part of the player. General rules of contact in regular basketball (charging, blocking, etc.) apply to wheelchair basketball. TIME LIMITS An offensive player cannot remain more than 3 seconds in the free throw lane while the player s team is in possession of the ball. DRIBBLE A player in possession of the ball may not push more than twice in succession with one or both hands in either direction without tapping the ball to the floor again. Taking more than two consecutive pushes constitutes a traveling violation. A player, may, however, wheel the chair and bounce the ball simultaneously just as an ablebodied player runs and bounces the ball simultaneously in regular basketball. LOSS OF THE BALL If a player in possession of the ball makes any physical contact with the floor or tilts the chair so far backward that the anti tip (safety) casters touch the floor, it is a violation and the ball is awarded to the other team. OUT OF BOUNDS A player is considered out of bounds when any part of the player s body or wheelchair touches the floor on or outside the boundary. • 8. Suspense In The Liars The text We Were Liars written by E. Lockhart follows the summers of a group of teenagers, collectively called The Liars. The narrator of the story, Cadence Sinclair, suffers from an accident on their island, and loses most of her memory. Throughout the chapters, she pieces together the timeline and finds out what truly happened the summer of her accident. The story focuses around the theme of choices and power, and the author pushes the idea that all actions have consequences. An interesting and important episode in the book was when Cadence discovers that her accident involved her killing her friends. The Liars decided to set fire to one of the family houses on the island, attempting to get rid of the family feud over who had power over it. As Cadence was on the ground floor, the fire grew upwards, and her 3 friends died as the house burnt, and she was the only one able to escape. To me, this is one of the most interesting scenes in the book, as even after the accident, Cadence was having conversations and physical contact with them, though in the end, you find out that they were merely hallucinations brought on from her head injury, or even ghosts. I liked how the author did this, as she showed only minor hints throughout the book that they weren t alive, and it left you guessing until the end of the book. The way the author creates a feeling of suspense throughout the novel because of this left me wanting to keep reading. Cadence remembers the fire at first, but not her ... • 10. Analysis of Pauline Puyat’s TracksEssay Analysis of Pauline Puyat s Tracks One of the most striking characteristics of Pauline Puyat is her devout Catholicism and her desire to be disconnected from the Ojibwa people. Throughout Tracks, she openly chooses Catholicism over her native religion and abandons her native ways almost completely. When Pauline tries to help Fleur prevent a miscarriage, she is literally held back by her conscious separation from the Ojibwa culture. There are many things that Pauline fails to do to effectively prevent Fleur from miscarrying. The most obvious is her failure to efficiently put together the herbal steep made of Alder: And I could not remember the plant s configuration, even though its use was common enough for bleeding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pauline s personification of the plants only continues this idea of confusion and abandonment. Her prayer to the Catholic God is almost ironic; Pauline is begging her God to help her remember the practices that she thinks sacrilegious. Pauline s Catholicism and her duties as an Angel of Death continue to control her for the rest of the passage. Before giving Fleur the Alder (or whatever herb she actually grabbed) steep, Pauline is captivated by her face: Fleur s eyes were closed. Her face was drained of color. I k new this look and I was fascinated, rapt, as at other death and sickbeds (157). Here, Pauline forgets what she is doing for Fleur and reverts to her duty as the Angel of Death, abandoning her Ojibwa ways for Catholicism. This seems to create further confusion for Pauline, as Fleur must instruct her on what to do with the alder plant. When Pauline puts herself to that task, she finds that she is unable to do anything because the Lord overtook [her] limbs and made them clumsy...it must have been his terrible will (157). Pauline feels that God does not want her to help Fleur, and is preventing her from doing so by deadening her limbs. Although she is trying to help Fleur, she simply cannot. Pauline s claims that clumsiness and forgetfulness of Ojibwa traditions is God s terrible will, are a claim of validity for both her follies in this passage and her stubborn separations from the Ojibwa. • 13. Persuasive Essay On Surveillance Of Employees In general, employers are allowed to install video cameras within an organization, which may include direct surveillance of employees. First of all, this can be done without significant legal concern, at least when placed in areas open to view. Both public and private employees may seek to assert an expectation of privacy, though constitutional protections apply to public, but not private employees. The reasonable expectation of privacy is determined on a case by case basis considering specific policies, practices, and other circumstances. Also, employers are not allowed to conduct surveillance of employees who are engaged in protected concerted activities, including those of union organizers. In this case, the liability for invasion of privacy would lie with the school principal rather than the school district. The plaintiff s claim was supported by the Fourth Amendment in that sufficient evidence was provided to prove that the employees have an expectation of privacy in their locker room and office, and from the students and other staff members to change clothing or complete office work without interruptions. It is recommended that if your organization uses video monitoring, to inform employees that they are subject to monitoring and surveillance, even though such notice may not be legally required. Rather, Britain and France went to war over the little things. There was perhaps no more egregious occurrence of intentional deceit to state than when Governor Shirley of Britain s Massachusetts colony falsely declared that there was a French invasion near the Kennebec River in Maine (then part of Massachusetts). In addition to the information being blatantly wrong, communication failures between colonies and states created a five month gap between when Shirley rescinded his initial claims, by stating them as an error. Governor Shirley s news of an invasion in Maine arrived in Britain concurrently with Governor Dinwiddie s news of an invasion in the Ohio Valley, making it seem in Britain that the French had initiated all out war. Similar communication failures occurred on the French side, when Duquesne falsely reported British positions, leading the French to take hysteric defensive action. Without an officially embedded government in their colonies there was no method for the French and British to discern the truth, and the powers were stuck in a survival dilemma, which in this case led each to lash out against the other in fear that their presence in their colonies was about to be eliminated. Too many people think statistics is difficult though, but it is all around them in real life. Three main descriptive statistics which make data easier to interpret, measure central tendency. They are the mean, measured, and median. Each of these are averages, which everyone is exposed to in everyday life (Stapel, n.d.). All three have specific uses in real life. The Mode The first measure, the mode, is the most popular score. To find the mode, one tallies the frequency of each number or value. The mode becomes the group that occurs the most frequently (Averages, n.d.). A set of numbers may have more than one mode when an equal number of occurrences takes place at more than one value. Of course, a mode may not occur in a set of numbers if the numbers appear with equal frequency (Henry, 2011). Next, a few examples of the mode are explained. Why Was LĂ©vi-Strauss Still Relevant Today In this essay I will discuss why I believe that Claude LĂ©vi Strauss work is still relevant today and I will focus on the role that he assigns to the social anthropologist. Claude LĂ©vi Strauss was the most influential anthropologist theorist in France. His work which he contributed to anthropology still remains to have significant relevance in todays contemporary anthropology. He was born on the 28th of November 1908 and passed away on the 30th of October 2009. I will discuss his theory and what he argued for and against. LĂ©vi Strauss discusses kinship, which in todays society is still very clear and important. Firstly when anthropologists discuss kinship they are concerned with social behaviours and not biological facts and the two sets of data are often so widely discrepant that it is often convenient to discuss kinship without any reference to biology (Leach, 1973: 96). We have to break down kinship terms into individual systems in order to see what relationship they have. Even though it states that kinship does not have to do with biology there has to be link as it is obvious that a child is related to their mother just like she is to her sister. LĂ©vi Strauss is interested in in the systems and not as much with terms of kinship. He looks at the ties by which people are related, rather this be through siblingship and/or affinal relationships. In society in order for a child to be seen as a legitimate child they need to have two parents who are married. Society does not judge this opinion on the relationship between the child and his/her parents but on the relationship between the parents themselves. This extremity has faded into the background for the most part in the contemporary society but is still around in some cases as everyone is always interested in your family dynamic. The way in which people are related is still of great importance. LĂ©vi Strauss does not look at the basic relationships for example mother/daughter and husband/wife, but he looks at the more complicated types of relationships such as the contrast between father/son and mother s brother/sister s son. According to LĂ©vi Strauss in order for a kinship structure to exist three types of family relations must always be present: a relation of consanguinity, a relation of affinity and a relation of descent. Social Mobility of Poor Kids Should depend on College Education Andrew Simmons, author of the article The Danger of Telling Poor Kids That College is the Key to Social Mobility, argues that educators have utilized one tool in the toolbox to inspire minority students into believing that their upward social mobility is dependent on four years of college education. These educators only considered the difference in earning power of college graduates versus high school graduates to buttress their argument. With so much emphasis on going to college, Simmons also contends that the educators miss the boat and end up causing harm to the poor students. There is no denying that poor students start from disadvantaged position compared to their white counterparts in high school, their career parts seem to via in two different directions. Many of the poor students gravitate towards the liberal arts colleges while the privileged kids dream of medical or law schools and becoming future doctors and lawyers. Simmons offers the study conducted by Jean Anyon as another example of how schools teaching poor students from low income families emphasize keeping students busy and managing behavior, while a middle class school deemphasizes individual expression and in depth analysis and reward the dutiful completion of specific rote tasks. Because the educators have stressed so much on attending college, thirty two percent of students end up with a major they never intended to, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Peter Weir film of the Gallipoli Campaign from 1915 196 revolves around the mateship of Frank Dunne (Mel Gibson) and Archy Hamilton (Mark Lee) that binds them through sportsmanship and military nationalism. The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) culture is typically based on the athleticism of soldiering culture, which allows Frank to become a runner of information dispatches during the campaign. Archy is a the blindly loyal nationalist that relies on his running skills to put peer pressure on Frank to join ANZAC. Frank initially declines, but the sportsmanship culture encourages a deep bond with a fellow short distance runner in the effort to maintain mateship. However, there were many different soldiers from a wide variety of backgrounds, such as lower class backgrounds, which define a different and less romantic view of sportsmanship that Weir presents in this film. In reality, man men from the lower working classes joined ANZAC as a way to avoid poverty and low wage work. Archy and Frank s relationship is a heroic and romantic view of the Gallipoli Campaign, yet it does show the horror and carnage of bloody murder of young men, such as Archy, that died in this failed attack against the Turkish Army. In this manner, the film Gallipoli provides insight into some aspects of mateship and sportsmanship between Archy and frank that was certainly valid, but it does not provide a comprehensive and realistic understanding of the multiple perspectives of class status and identity that defined enlistment in ANZAC in WWI. ... Each district has a designated resource ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The phrase was coined in Roman times and was used by the Roman Emperors as a manipulation tactic to diverge revolts that arise from a starving, unhappy populace using food and entertainment. The Capitol nearly mirrors this policy through the abundant resources and distractions offered to the wealthy who live within its borders. The difference is that while the Capitol supports the wealthy, they do nothing for the discord that arises from the starvation in the districts, and instead worsen it for them with an overpowering hand that controls all the food supply. There is no value placed on food within the capitol the way there is within the districts, this can be seen within the novels as Katniss and Peeta are offered pills that will make them puke up the food they ate so that they may indulge in more and be able to sample all of the dishes offered. This was repulsive to both Peeta and Katniss as nearly everyone from back home was starving and would do anything to have such unlimited and uncaring access to food. When they expressed their concerns, the people around them didn t understand their disgust and instead considered it rude that they wouldn t partake in the custom. The entertainment side of the phrase is where Collins makes her novels gruesome. The hunger games that the children are put through are televised across Panem, in both the Capitol and all ... Managing risk is a two stage step that involves first, the identification of the risk and the second, taking care of the risk in a way that is best for the company and it goals (Investopedia, 2012). Quality standards include logs maintaining temperature throughout the lab, such as in incubators and fridges used for sample testing and supply storage, culture maintenance, and more. Macroeconomic risks happen when there are economic downturns that occur suddenly, like in areas where the company has a strong market foot hold, affecting sales growth. Client demand risk for FSNS happens when the client needs the results for a particular result and they do not obtain it in a timely manner causing them to not only lose precise time their product is sitting waiting to be shipped out to consumers, but also losing money in the process, resulting in possible loss of a client to competition and revenue loss. Industry consolidation risks cause FSNS to have less bargaining power and price war. Not only that, it could also lead to inflated mark down on the prices for particular sample tests. The reason for this risk is consolidation of the market and strategic alliance. Operation risks occur when a facility isn t operated to set standard that fit into ISO 17025 guidelines. Kuleshov coined the term collective geography to describe cinema ability to link entirely unrelated material into coherent sequences. Home ownership is important for many reasons. Homes tend to create safer neighborhoods and stabilize communities. Schools are built around strong communities which encourage and provide education to the next generation. From a base economic level, when people buy homes, they also start to spend money which helps grow the economy. Zootopia is a mammal metropolis populated by anthropomorphic mammals where predators and prey species, peacefully coexist and work together. These animals have no intentions on eating each other and there are minimum conflicts between them. I do not think, that animals would be able to survive together without eating or harming each other in real life. There are many factors that keep animals from living together peacefully. These factors include survival instincts, food supplies, climate and the animal s temperament. The fact that we will never be able to make animals understand that working together can be beneficial for them can also be something that keeps them from living together peacefully. The Gospel of Luke was inscribed by the physician, Luke was a comrade and traveling companion of the apostle Paul. • 35. Advertisements Exploiting Children Are current practises of advertising to children exploitative? What restrictions should be placed on advertising to children? Up until recently, parents had been the intended target audience for advertising efforts aimed for children of young age groups. However it is now the children who have become the main focus. The growth in advertising channels reaching children and the privatisation of children s media use have resulted in a dramatic increase in advertising directly intended for the eyes and ears of children (Wilcox et al. 2004). It is estimated that advertisers spend more than $12 billion a year on the youth market with more than 40,000 commercials each year. Furthermore research on the language of advertisements, while used to promote products, may be purposefully constructed to confuse younger children at lower levels of cognitive development. Simple correlation research in the US indicates that children typically aged 2 6 years who view more television advertising request more products from their parents. This is known as pester power. It has been found that parents are more likely to buy products when kids ask for them in the shop (nag factor). As children age, they develop the cognitive capacity to contextualise and act critically on the observations made, reducing the amount of requests for products (Australian Communications and Media Authority, 2007). Children who are exposed to TV commercials for toys not only develop the initial idea for the toy but repeatedly pester their parents to buy it. This is exploitation on the parents behalf as it often causes parent child conflict when the parents deny their children the product (Wilcox et al. 2004). Another troubling issue relating to child advertising exploitation is in reference to food ads. Half of the advertisements in the UK directed at children concern food. There are little ads emphasising healthy eating and since the start of television advertising, the largest proportion of ads aimed at children has always been unhealthy food products (Gunter, Oates amp; Blades 2005). The irony further is that the rule of law is now an important part of modern Administrative Law. The concept of Rule of Law is the building block on which the modern democratic society is founded. The doctrine of rule of law proved to be effective and powerful weapon in keeping administrative authorities within their limits . It served as a touchstone to test all administrative actions. The broad principle of rule of law was accepted by almost all legal systems as a constitutional safeguard. The first principle (Supremacy of law) recognizes a cardinal rule of democracy that every government must be subject to law and not law subject to the government. It rightly opposed arbitrary and unfettered discretion to the governmental authorities, which has tendency to interfere with rights of citizens. The second principle (equality of law) is equally important in a system linked to democratic polity. It is based on the well known maxim however high you may be, law is above you and all are equal before the law The third principle puts emphasis on the role of judiciary in enforcing individual rights and personal freedoms irrespective of their inclusion in a written constitution.
