Illegal Immigration Should Not Be Illegal
Every year there are around the same amount of immigrants entering the United States from
Mexico as there are tourists. However, there is a difference; immigrants tend to be illegal unlike
tourists and their passports. Ever since the United States offered what was said to be a new life for
immigrants, they have been showing up illegally. There has been the same amount of opportunities
as there are obstacles to overcome. Immigrationat the U.S. and Mexican border has been a hot topic
for decades now. Illegal immigration has not completely shown positive or negative effects on the
economy, but more of a combination of the two.
Illegal immigrants come to the U.S. to seek for better jobs, they tend to accept any job they are
offered. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also includes the fact that aliens work higher than the maximum hours. However, the employer
and the illegal immigrant must agree on a contract so the employer does not have to pay for the
income or pay taxes. In America, businesses get cheap work benefiting themselves economically
speaking, and illegal immigrants need of money makes this happen.
Working as a maid, mowing lawns, farming, washing dishes in a restaurant or a hotel are a few
examples of what illegal immigrants work as. These jobs are paid below the minimum wage. People
don t worry about having to clean their house because if they are part of the upper class then
they can easily hire an illegal immigrant that will do it for about anything in return. According to
Victor Davis Hanson from the NationalReview, he said [. . .] the member of the blue state elite
envisions himself not as an exploiter of cheap labor, but rather more as a benefactor of the
greater social good. This is basically saying that the Blue state elite member, (the upper class
person) is not admitting that he does not take advantage of illegal immigrants working for little
money, instead he is gaining benefits because of it. Upper class men are able to save money on
such maids and others. Not only is this good from an individuals economical view, but for
everyone socially. This is a way

Nullification Crisis Significance
The Nullification Crisis was significant. The Nullification Crisis started in 1828 when the Congress
passed a very high tariff on manufactured goods from Europe. The Southerners started protesting
against tariffs and called to secede from the United States. Since anger of tariffs continued to build
in the South, the Congress passed a new, lower tariff in 1832, hoping that the protest in the South
would die down. However, the South Carolinalegislature passed the Nullification act, an act
refusing to pay the illegal tariffs of 1828 and 1832. If the federal government interfered then the
South will continue calling for secession and the union will split apart. The significance of the
Nullification Crisis was that it caused President Jackson

Antimicrobial And Antioxidant Activities Of Leaves
The present study was carried out to evaluate the antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of leaves
of Elephantopus scaber by using different solvent (ethyl alcohol ,acetone and aqueous). The leaves
extract from Elephantopus scaber using different solvents to extract were evaluated for antioxidant
activity by using DPPH method using a different concentrations (1, 10, 20, 30, 40, 60, 80, 100)
Ојg/ml. The results of this method was compared with ascorbic acidas standard. The IC50 value of
standard (ascorbic acid) was found to be 20 mg/ml. This study showed the strongest DPPH radical
scavenging activity of (52.54В±0.81)% inhibition at concentrationof 40 mg/ml, and IC50 value
was 30 mg/ml was found the scavenging activity of (44.92В±0.26)% for ethyl alcohol extract.
Acetone extract of leaves was found at of concentration 60 mg/ml scavenging activity of
53.26В±0.34%. The IC50 value of aqueous extract of leaves was (60)Ојg/ml with percentage
inhibition of (54.28В±0.28)% followed by (44.57В±0.53)% at concentration 40 mg/ml. Introduction
Elephantopus scaber L. (Elephant s foot) is an important medicinal plant which is distributed
worldwide in all tropical regions [1]. The whole plant (root, leaf and bark) is used medicinally,
because of the presence of sesquiterpene lactones, deoxyelephantopin, isodeoxyelephantopin,
scabertopin, stigmasterol, epifriedelinol, lupeol and stigmasterol throughout the whole plant [2][3].

Spiritual Weedeater
Weedeater / Words of healing and hope
This week s sermon was Weedeater. A question I had was this: If you use it as a verb, is, the past
tense, weedate? Nevertheless, as you know, weedeaters trims weeds where lawnmowers cannot.
Another question I had was this: Would you use a weedeater to trim your flower bed?
In the days of Jesus a weed called tares grew alongside the wheat, and in their early growth stages,
it was difficult to differentiate between the two. If you plucked the tares you would also destroy
some wheat. It was only at harvest time that you could clearly differentiate between the two
(Matthew 13:24 30).
Although some want a Church with no weeds, the Church is made up of broken, fallen people:
Yes, people like you and I. The beauty of it is that Godgracefully accepts us and we gracefully
accept one another; yet, some want to weed the Church and the world before God does. When we
pass final judgment before God does, we arrogate ourselves to be God and destroy the good along
with the bad (Matthew 13:36 43). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maybe you have met a few spiritual weedeaters. Think of how much evil has been brought about
by seemingly good but self righteous intentions. An extreme example would be the witch hunts
of the 1600 s. An example today would be going on a moral crusade that highlights a specific sin
of which one is not guilty, but a crusade that does not addresses one s own sins. By the way, I am
not say we cannot make judgments about right and wrong, yet it is a leap to arrogate ourselves as
the final judge with

The Culture Of Thin Bites Fiji Analysis
The culture of thin bites Fiji is a short story about the connection between image and illness. The
Fiji teenagers who once view fat as robust were exposed to modern television and soon wanted to
imitate the shows they watched. They quickly viewed their old values in a negative light. A
statistical study done in Fiji stated that Within 38 months the number of teenagers at risk for
eating disorders had more than doubled to 29%. The number of girls who vomited for weight
control went up five time to 15%. (Goodman E,1998) The women there were highly influenced
because what was deemed beautiful on shows like 90210 and Seinfeld was the total opposite of
their cultures views. The more glamourous life was more appealing to the islanders once they had...

Many of these girls had been victimized by a Hollywood image. they began to feel fat or to big
and 62percent of Fiji s teens turned to dieting . that is tremendous considering the fact that
weeks ago 3% were content with the bigger bodies. Hollywood decided to ignore the damage
they had done. Stating Heather Locklear doesn t cause anorexia nor does Spelling cause
bulimia. Goodman E,p.502) Goodman explained the female image as shrunk down to Calista
Flockhart (503), and she still says at the same we ve seen the eating problems grow. (503)I agree
with the author, I believe Hollywood and their shows are very responsible for the drastic change
in these peoples lives. These teenage girls are victims because their minds were so vulnerable
and innocent only to be corrupt by hatred, and negativity. I personally do not believe that every
person has to be the same size. It is repulsive to have shows that are so conforming. Its just like
race, there has always been controversy about shows being to white. Even boycotts to make things
equal or fair, yet almost every American show has cast full of skinny actors. There is not a
character for every person to relate to. It

Taking a Look at Howard Philips Lovecraft
Howard Philips Lovecraft has been described by many as the father of the modern horror story.
His works influenced many future horror writers and set the tone for heavy metal music and
horror films from the 1960s to the 1990s. Much of this influence is based upon H. P. Lovecraft s
depiction of humanity in his stories. In the works of Howard Philips Lovecraft, the portrayal of
humanity as an inconsequential piece of the universe that is unable to exact any meaningful change
in the world due to its frail sanity and its inability to truly comprehend what is happening in its
surroundings. is based upon H. P. Lovecrafts personal philosophy and life experiences. When H.P.
Lovecraft was three years old, his father was confined to a mental institution where he would die
a few years later. With his father s death, Lovecraft was cared for by his mother, two aunts, and
his maternal grandfather. Lovecraft was an exceptionally intelligent child and by the age of six he
would often read Gothic horror stories with his grandfather. Although he was extremely
intelligent, Lovecraft did not regularly attend school until he was eight. H. P. was a sickly child
and early in life began to suffer from terrible night terrors. While attending high school, Lovecraft
suffered a nervous breakdown and never actually graduated. Following his departure from school,
H. P. Lovecraft lived with his mother for several more years. During this period, he worked on
writing poetry and short stories.

Similarities Between Common Law And Civil Law
Before I started compare between common law and civil law I want to describe each one of
them. Common law focuses in the old laws and takes it as source for any new for any new case
and the basic for this law is UK law system. On the other hand, Civil law is about organizing the
relation between the people in the same society and it is focusing in public law. However, I am
going to compare between common lawand civil law in legal system, the rule of judges,
constitution, and jury of opinion, historical background, and source of law. This paragraph will
take about the comparison between common law and civil law in legal system. First of all, the
common law in legal system is group of laws that not have been written. This law set upon from
the parliament and old law. Also, in common law there are no separates laws. Second, the civil
law in legal system is group of law have been written and separates between the law. Moreover, it

common law sources depends on Constitution, old law, Custom and Convention. According to
Morris L. Cohen (1989) (To understand the importance of the reception statutes, we must
remember that the common law of England did not have automatic or direct applicability or
authority in the American colonies). Second, historical background and sources for civil law is

Word Frequency and the Generation Effect Essay
WORD FREQUENCY AND THE GENERATION EFFECT
ABSTRACT
This report aimed to investigate the generation effect occurs for low frequency words. The
experiment used a sample of 117 second year Research Method students from Birkbeck Univerity in
within and between subject design. There were two independent variables, read and generate items
and two dependant variables, low and high frequency. This data was analyzed with related sample t
test to examine whether the generation effect occurs for low frequency words and independent
sample t test to investigate whether there is a difference between generation effect with low and
high frequency words. The results show that there is significant difference between generate and
read condition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They rejected the lexical activation hypothesis stating that the generation effect may be dependent
upon familiarity and associations of the to be remembered items with other words and concepts.
Therefore, would the generation effect occur for low frequency words if they were more familiar
for the subject?
Furthermore, the aim of this report is to carry out the experiment on the word frequency in
generation effect and to find out whether there is generation effect for low frequency words and
whether the difference between word frequency level has an influence on the occurrence of the
generation effect.
Hypothesis 1 : the generation effect will be present with low frequency words.
Hypothesis 2: the generation effect is smaller for low frequency words than for high frequency
words.
Null hypothesis 1: there will be no generation effect for low frequency words.
Null hypothesis 2: there will be no difference between generation effect in low and high frequency
words.
METHOD
Participants
A hundred and seventeen students at Birkbeck Univerity volunteered in the experiment held during
Research Method lecture.
Materials
The materials used in this experiment were fifty six concrete nouns taken from the Kucera and
Francis (1967) word count. There were four sets of the stimuli. Two sets were formed of 28 nouns
having counts of 67 or more (high frequency) and other two were 28 nouns having counts of 10 or
fewer (low frequency).

Egg Donation Failure
In order to identify the problem of egg donation, one must take into account the harm that is
attached to said problem. Without payment regulations, egg donation agencies have the ability to
compete with one another to receive more donations. This lack of order is detrimental to the
health of women because of the financial encouragement to become repeat donors. To decrease
the number of repeat donors, all egg donation agencies should strictly implement the $10,000
maximum payment set forth by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). By
decreasing the payment maximum across the board for all egg donation agencies, women are
less inclined to repeat the process. Monetary benefit may not be the only motivation for women
to donate, however, it is still an incentive that plays a major role in women s decision making. As
an example, Sierra Poulson, a three time donor, revealed that the third time she donated was only
for money (Lewin, 2015). Poulson displays how the market of egg donation works and how
money affects the tendency that women have to continue donating. As a result of decreased
numbers of repeat donors, women are less susceptible to the health risks that come along with the
process. The more serious risk of egg donation is ovarian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As a result, agencies would no longer be in competition with one another to receive more donors by
advertising a better price of compensation. In addition, the lowered financial reward will divide the
donor population between women with charitable intentions and women with monetary intentions,
thus minimizing the numbers of repeat donors that increase their health risks with each donation.
The egg donation industry is flawed in more ways than one, but resolving the pricing issue reduces
the likelihood of women experiencing harmful outcomes in their

Informal And Informal Language
Informal Language is Dependent on Context
Many of us switch between formal and informal language without much thought. It has become
almost instinctual to adapt the appropriate language to the purpose, audience and the social setting
of the discourse. Informal language includes the use of discourse particles, hypertaxis and non
standard syntax which are used to increase social proximity, promote in group membership and
reinforce the exclusivity of the group. The use of informal language largely depends on context:
where the conversation is upheld, what text type and mode it is in and the audience to which it is
directed to.
The situation plays an imperative role into the degree in which informal language is used. Teenage
conversations during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The spoken mode, in general, is much more personal and informal than the written with slimmer
chances of misunderstandings and responses tend to be instantaneous rather than delayed. While
the written mode is more scripted and usually appears without non fluency features, the spoken
mode involves many prosodic and paralinguistic features could be used including stress, large
range of volume (from whispering secrets to exclamations) and a rising intonation can help the
speaker hand over the floor. Fast pace can sometimes be understood as informal because the
information may not necessarily be viewed as important and a slower to medium pace may be
used to ensure the audience is comprehending what is said, this speed is more often used in formal
language. Informal body language may also be used such as waving of hands or excitedly jumping
whilst formal, in comparison, would include standing still and without the blatant display of
emotion. By reviewing the previous Ja mie example, we can see that not only does her situation
change, but her audience also changes from close friends to her peers, their parents, and her
teachers. Ja mie shows how informal language builds the private identity of her friendship group
and how formal language distances herself from her public audience. Audience predetermines
whether informal language should be used depending on the relationship between speaker and
listener, private or public, and if the

Columbus Day Essay
Christopher Columbus is famously known for being an Italian explorer. Christopher Columbus
set sail across the vast seas with three ships, Santa Maria, the Pinta, and the Nina to find a
western sea route to India, China and the mystical gold and spice islands of Asia. He was born in
Genoa, Italy and died May 20, 1506 in Valladolid, Spain. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella
funded Christopher Columbuss voyage and he set sail upon the vast seas. He later found that he
would find a new land that would later become America. He began to make settlements in the
Americas and then later came back just to see that some settlements were destroyed. The
indigenous indians were the people who destroyed some of them. He began to capture and make
them slaves and killed them.
When Christopher Columbus made the indians slaves he did terrible things to them and treated
them badly. Most people say Vikings first discovered America. Yes they were the first but that
didn t have the right materials to document their journey and voyages to the America s. There are
many states in the United States that don t celebrate Columbus Day as a holiday because of how
badly he treated the Indians. Christopher Columbus s first voyage was August 3, 1492 and he had
set sail from Spain to find an all water route to Asia. Almost more than two months later he landed
on an island in the Bahamas and called it San Salvador. On his second voyage he left CГЎdiz in
Spain from 1493 to 1496 and left with a fleet of 17

The National Health Service System
The National Health Service (NHS), established in 1948, is Great Britain s universal health care
system. Unlike that of the USA, the NHS is a single payer system, covering ~100% of if its
citizens and ordinarily residents. While supported by a number of other agencies and public bodies,
the NHS is overseen by the Department of Health, which is responsible for funding of health and
social services and creating policies and legislation. The NHS covers preventative services; inpatient
and outpatient (ambulatory) hospital (specialist) care; physician (general practitioner) services;
inpatient and outpatient drugs, mental health care; learning disabilities; and rehabilitation.
Additionally most prescription drugs are covered (though some are subject to co pay). While the
NHS is free of most specific cost to its citizens, there are limitations of the system in which specific
direct cost to citizens arise. For example, dental, vision, and certain prescription services are not
generally covered by the NHS, although certain exclusions apply in which individuals under the age
of 18 (19 if in school full time) and other specifically qualified individuals may receive such services

pounding his fists so rigid, you could see the color of his fingers turning purple; this tantrum lasted
for over two minutes until Jimmy s mother went back into the house leaving Jimmy to continue to

gone to the local market to pick up some groceries for dinner, while standing in the checkout line
Jimmy asked his father to buy him a candy bar; knowing that in doing so this would ruin Jimmy s
appetite for dinner, Jimmy s dad said no . Instantly Jimmy threw himself of the floor of the market,
began to screaming at the top of his lungs, crying, and kicking his feet with the intensity of almost

The Automobile And The Environmental Impacts Of The...
When in 1885 Karl Benz designed, and developed the first 4 stroke engine that would later become
the very heart of the first automobile that we are familiar with today. At the time however, the early
inventors and pioneers of the automobile industry thought just of their work as a horseless carriage
and nothing more, none of them anticipated the age of the automobilethat was about to be ushered
in, for they just saw the new technology strictly in the context of what it was meant to replace. The
automobile however, developed into so much more, becoming one of the defining industries of the
entire 20th century and affecting people s lives in a multitude ways, but most especially the social
aspect. This essay would like to highlight the importance that the automobile had on the cultural
shift towards the phenomenon of suburbanization and the environmental impacts that ensued due to
the change in urban planning to accommodate for our car dependent culture. Ironically enough,
when the environmental impacts associated with automobiles are discussed, the one that is not
inherently apparent to us, specifically carbon emissions from vehicles is what takes much of the
limelight when compared to an issue that is rapidly unfolding right before we. The exponential
increase in urban sprawl not only involves the loss of massive amounts of natural habitat but also
dramatically increases the risk of flooding in these same suburbs. Disregarding the unsustainability

Hebert Eagle Seven Pounds Analysis
Drawing upon Hebert Eagle, Seven Pounds clearly exhibits the demonstration of blue lighting
throughout the entire film. For instance, near the end of the film, the viewer experiences the
second of Tim s flashbacks of the devastating crash. Ascending the hill in which his car rolled
over, Tim searches for any survivors of the fatal crash. After a few minutes of searching, Tim
discovers his dead wife lying on the cold, hard asphalt. Aware that he remains the only survivor,
Tim, with heaving sobs, slowly falls to his knees and eventually lies with his wife on the ground.
Throughout this entire scene, blue lighting falls on Tim and exhibits the loneliness and
hopelessness that he now feels. Although such an example presents itself near the end of the film, it
is imperative to understand this motif. Throughout the entire film, the lighting on Tim, when shown
alone, is often blue as if recalling the crash sequence. However, when Tim interacts with Emily later
on in the film, Muccino uses yellow lighting to contrast that of the blue and to produce warmth
within the scene, and to show the comfort and stability that Tim feels in Emily s company. Thus,
the masterful application of blue lighting sets the viewer on edge... Show more content on

Essay about The Physics of Car Collisions
Basic Concepts
Issac Newton was the first to state the concepts that are necessary to understanding the physics of
collisions. His three laws are used again and again in all the fields of physics:
Newton s 1st Law
In the absence of external forces, an object at rest remains at rest and an object in motion remains in
motion with a constant velocity.
This law can be best observed in space, far from the gravity of a star or planet, where there is no
friction or air resistance. If, in the middle of deep space, you give a rock a little push, it will
continue with the direction and velocity you gave it forever. The only way to stop it is to apply a
force in the opposite direction. This law is not intuitive because we are surrounded ... Show more

Every single action has an equal and opposite reaction. If you were standing in the middle of a
perfectly slick frozen lake, and needed to get off, you could throw an object away from you.
When you applied force to the object you threw, it also applied an equal force pushing you back.
You would travel in the opposite direction from the throw, although slower, because you probably
have mass more than the object you threw.
Static and Kinetic Friction
Friction is a key concept when you are attempting to understand car accidents. The force of
friction is a force that resists motion when two objects are in contact. If you look at the surfaces of
all objects, there are tiny bumps and ridges. Those microscopic peaks and valleys catch on one
another when two objects are moving past each other.
This explanation is a little simplified. There are other processes at work, including chemical
bonding and electrical interactions.
The level of friction that different materials exhibit is measured by the coefficient of friction.
The formula is Вµ = f / N, where Вµ is the coefficient of friction, f is the amount of force that
resists motion, and N is the normal force. Normal force is the force at which one surface is being
pushed into another. If a rock that weighs 50 newtons is lying on the ground, then the normal force
is that 50 newtons of force. The higher Вµ is, the more force resists motion if two objects are
sliding past each other.

How to Save Energy in an Office Building
Modern offices are a cluster of technology and coffee. The constantly evolving world in which all
businesses must operate necessitate a commitment to being energy efficient. Initially, it is possible
to reduce the energy consumption for a business, with some relatively small steps.
Collecting all the waste paper from the office bins, to be mulched and compressed into fuel bricks,
which are then burned to produce the heat for the office, is one step too far for most businesses.
However, these small steps take just a few minutes to carry out and will reap large reductions in
energy usage.
Turn off unused desktop computers and screens.
Desktop computers and their screens are huge energy sapping devices, which just happen to be
sat on every desk in the office. When a screen or a computer is not being used, they should be put
into sleep mode to reduce the amount of electricity they are using. Leaving computers and screens
turned on whilst someone has their lunch break will cost the company hundreds over the course of
a year, yet it will take a few clicks to tun everything off for the hour.
Indeed, it has become pretty common practice to leave a computer on in hibernation mode over
night to save the employee a few minutes in the morning. This means that the computer has been
drawing electricity all night long for no really productive value.
Turning off computers and screens is a really small step to start making huge reductions in energy
consumption.

The part that the reporters omitted or failed to state was that the Muslim soldiers were praying on
a battlefield in Afghanistan. Common sense of the situation meant that the soldiers had to remain
armed at all times in case of an ambush at any time. This is a clear example of the media s biased
and inaccurate reporting (Martinez 1, Ba Yunus 1).
While talking about soldiers, I would like to talk about another western media s misconception
i.e. Jihad. The ideas of war and violence have become related to the Islamic religion from the
media. Jihad is so often apparent in the news because the media thinks it is Islam s justification
for war and violence. The Quran (Muslim Holy Book) says Fight for the sake of Allah those that
fight against you, but do not attack them first. Allah (God) does not love aggression . A Muslim is
permitted to take up arms only as an act of self defense. A Muslim has the right to defend his life,
and his property (Martinez 1, Hassan 4). They (media) cannot differentiate between a struggle for
independence in Kashmir or Palestine or Lebanon and terrorism in Afghanistan. Mujahid and
terrorist mean the same in their dictionary.
Jihad literally means The struggle in the path of God , or holy war . However, the Western media
often abuses the meaning of jihad by referring to it as a holy war where Muslims unreasonably kill
non believers. But the fact is, is that jihad can

Health Care For Medical Errors
One change in healthcare that is likely to happen is the increasing transition to a more quality
and value based approach. This is in part due to reimbursement model changes regarding patient
outcomes as well as ethical concerns about the large number of preventable errors that continue
to occur in our current system (Sachs, 2015). Between 210,000 and 400,000 deaths happen
yearly due to medical errors in addition to approximately 4,000,000 to 8,000,000 errors that
cause serious harm. It is clear that high costs are not providing excelling results. As our current
system continues to shift in this value based direction, we will likely see even further changes in
how and where care and treatments are provided (Phillips, 2015). For instance, home visits are
beginning to be utilized to provide care for minor and chronic conditions. As in centuries past,
basic health care is starting to be delivered in a patient s home. Hospitalcare is expensive
comparatively, and the risk for complications such as medical errors, infection, and other hospital
acquired conditions increases. The use of urgent care centers is also growing rapidly as they can
provide quicker, cheaper, and equally effective services to individuals than the emergency room
which used to care for these patients very ineffectively. This trend towards more cost effective,
value oriented care can also be seen in the increasing use of lower cost outpatient surgery centers
performing procedures that used to be performed in

Using Vernacular Architecture And On The Passive...
According to Natural History Museum (2015), modern humans have been around for nearly
200,000 years, and in our journey to the present, humans have learnt many ways to survive. From
hygiene to hyperplasia, people have come to know the best way possible to survive in the living
conditions they lived. To help protect themselves from sun, wind, rain, snow and even enemies, one
of the methods used is what today is called vernacular architecture.
The practice of designing and constructing a building today may seem easy with modern technology
at our finger tips, however 500 years, one can imagine the difficulties, trial and errors the inhabitants
of different geographical locations had to go through just to provide suitable shelter for themselves.
These trail and errors throughout the history have benefited many civilizations and bring forward
bundles of knowledge. For this reason, the objective of this research report is to explore vernacular
architecture and to expand on the passive engineering techniques used in times when technology
was not so readily available as we have today. Also, an analysis of the different lessons learnt from
these techniques will help determine the contribution it has made to sustainable architecture and
awareness.

Analysis Of The Still Mysterious Death Of Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe s death has stumped scientists and investigators everywhere, no one has any
idea of why he died. Poe s death is still a major mystery after he was found disheveled in the
streets of Maryland by a tavern. He was taken to a hospital, and couldn t have an official
diagnostic. Poe spent his time in the hospital going in and out of consciousness, he was in a
psychotic state of mind. Many ideas are very different in addressing the death of Poe due to the
lack of evidence. However, Poe died due to the method of cooping.
Firstly, Poe s death was by cooping because he was found outside a tavern where voters would go
to vote and then, were rewarded with beer. In article one, The Still Mysterious Death of Edgar
Allan Poe it states, Voter fraud was extremely common in Baltimore around the mid 1800s, and
the polling site where Walker found the disheveled Poe was a known place that coopers brought
their victims. (The Still Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe) Poe was left beaten outside of
the tavern. The place that is described, where coopers left their victims seems much like the
alleys that criminals leave their victims in society today. In the second article, The Mysterious
Death of Edgar Allan Poe tells the reader, Coincidence or not, the day Poe was found on the street
was election day in Baltimore and the place near where he was found, Ryan s Fourth Ward Polls,
was both a bar and a place for voting. (The Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe) Poe was found

Cold War Containment Or Hegemony Essay
The question of, Was America s actions during the Cold War containment or hegemony? cannot be
easily answered with a single source or perspective. While some attempt to justify the United States
actions during the Cold War as necessary to preserving freedom and the American way of life
through the containment of the Soviet threat, there are just as many critics on the other side of the
debate that have argued that, America used the Cold Waras a veil under which it expanded it s
influence and power throughout the world. My intent is to show how some believe that America s
Cold War policies were completely justified and how others see America s actions as nothing more
than American imperialism.

With over 13 billion dollars in aid being delivered to Europe under the Marshall Plan, from 1948 to

to softening of national competition between many countries in Europe, and served the dual

Essay On The Berlin Wall
On November 9, 1989; an event occurred that changed the county as a whole; the Berlin Wall fell.
This significant event represented the end of communism in Germany. The German Democratic
Republic (GDR) reunited with the Federal Republic of Germany on October 3, 1990; one year
after the Wall fell. When the Berlin Wall
fell, both East and West Berlinbecame physically reunified.
There was no longer a wall standing in between the two sides and from here on out, two cities
became one once again. This was a physically reconnection of two sides of East and West Berlin
and the beginning of the loss of identity for those had previously lived in East Berlin(Leventhal).
Kubicek believes that due to many years that East and West Germany were divided that the
people of each side developed differently and had different values. Each side had created it s own
educational system, government and political and views. Kubicek quoted one writer, It will
take us longer to tear down the wall in our heads.... (17). This also applied to those living in East
and West Berlin. East Berliners also viewed those living in West Berlin as boastful, aggressive
and insensitive (Leventhal). They felt unwelcomed and the other half of the city felt very
different to them. West Berliners viewed their side of the city as being less safe and now too
crowded and those from East Berlin were known as the poorer people. City services were
duplicated and in the East side were either closed or lost. Examples

Democratic Party Racism
Is the Democratic Party the Party of Racism? Most people of the Democratic Party fall into two
different categories; either they are Democrats by design or by deception. The Democratic Party s
history reveals it has long ignored its racist leanings. Historically, the Democrats were the most avid
supporters of slavery while the founding of the Republican Party supported the abolition of slavery,
and the entrenchment of civil liberties in the United States. For instance, the 13th amendment
passed in 1864 that abolished slavery got massive support from the Republicans, in comparison to
the Democrats, in Congress. Also, the agitation by the Republicans for equality is envisaged in the
election of the first seven black Americans during the Reconstruction... Show more content on

Roosevelt, the failure by most Democrats, especially those in positions of authority, to appreciate
racial equality in support of white supremacy demonstrates their non reformist character and belief
in racism. It reveals the lack of moral conscience amongst Democrats as they fail to visualize how
their racist ideologies erode the democratic gains Americans have fought for such as equality in
representation and access to opportunities. Such insensitiveness is a sign of failure by Democrats
to appreciate the strides that the minorities such as the blacks had fought fervently over the years.
It becomes apparent that most Democrats in leadership positions knew that any support for civil
liberties and other forms of equality would evoke resentment amongst their supporters. It is,
therefore, clear that most of the rights and freedoms being enjoyed in America today are due to non

The Importance Of The Tet Offensive In The Vietnam War
In late January of 1968, during the Vietnamese lunar new year known as Tet, the North Vietnamese
launched a coordinated series of attacks on cities and outposts in South Vietnam. The attack, which
went on to be known as the Tet Offensive, was an attempt from the Viet Cong to spark a rebellion
in South Vietnam and to send a stark message to United States, advising them to limit their
involvement in the conflict. Although U.S. and South Vietnamese troops were able to hold off
some of the attacks, the Tet Offensive was still a victory for the Viet Cong despite having received
numerous casualties. The Tet Offensive marked a turning point for the Viet Cong in the Vietnam
war, with the attack beginning the United States long withdraw from the country. Due to news
coverage of the attack being broadcasted on American television, public support for the war began
to deteriorate, leading to more people wanting for an end to the conflict. North Vietnamese
Commander General Vo Nguyen Giap had chosen the Vietnamese holiday, which occurs on
January 31st, to break the stalemate in the war. Giap believed that a coordinated attack would
cause an unstable Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) to collapse. He also hoped that this
collapse would lead to chaos and a rebellion amongst South Vietnamese citizens. The main reason
for Giap s attack; however, was an attempt to cripple the fragile relationship between the United
States and South Vietnam. By the late 1960s, the strong

The History and Function of the Condom
Introduction
The condom is a barrier device that is used since ancient times. Many couples do not want to get
pregnant but still want to have sexual intercourse. In this circumstance, one way is to wear a
condom. AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome), is a pandemic that caused 36 million
deaths worldwide (citation: UNAIDS.org, 2012) caused by HIV (Human Immunodeficiency
Virus). One of the reasons why it spread so quickly is because of sexual contact. The men s body
fluid (semen) is spread into the women s body, which means the woman is also contracted with
AIDS. But with the help of the condom, the number of people newly infected by AIDS greatly
reduced. The condom does not stop AIDS, it stops AIDS from spreading.
Throughout history, there are many different types of condoms, from the earliest leather condoms,
to rubber, and now the Polyisoprene (Natural rubber). The most commonly used is the 1920 Latex
Condom, which is the one I will focus on in this essay. How the condom works
Human reproduction works when an erect penis is inserted into the vagina and the man thrust it in
and out until ejaculation occurs. The semen (liquid that includes sperm and other liquid) is released
into the vagina. The sperm travels along the vagina and meets the egg, where the sperm fertilizes
the egg. The sperm and egg forms a zygote. The zygote later forms into an embryo cell and is
implanted onto the endometrium (the uterus wall); this is the beginning of pregnancy. (Y9

Contribution Margin and Breakeven Analysis Simulation
IntroductionToday s business leaders are under enormous pressure to grow revenues, increase
profits and expand the value of the business. Rather than focus on profit improvement, owners and
managers should focus on improving underlying business activities and processes such as sales,
production and distribution. In order to determine whether a business decision will improve
profitability, you first must understand how costsare defined, as well as the relationship between cost
, volume, and profitability. One of the important, yet relatively simple, tools afforded by cost
/volume/profit analysis is known as contribution marginanalysis. Your company s contribution

When looking at break evens it is also helpful to look at fixed and variable costs. Fixed overhead
is steady and can be factored in quite accurately. Variable costs are not as simple to calculate but
in many industries variable costs follow certain percentages or ratios so they are easier to
project. According to Tim Berry, the Break even Analysis lets a manager determine what needs
to be sold, monthly or annually, to cover the costs of doing business the actual break even point.
The Break even Analysis depends on three key assumptions:1.Average per unit sales price (per
unit revenue: This is the price that you receive per unit of sales2.Average per unit cost: This is the
incremental cost, or variable cost, of each unit of sales. If you buy goods for resale, this is what
you paid, on average, for the goods you sell. If you sell a service, this is what it costs you, per
dollar of revenue or unit of service delivered, to deliver that service.
3.Monthly fixed costs: Technically, a break even analysis defines fixed costs as costs that would
continue even if the company went broke. Instead, always use the regular running fixed costs,
including payroll and normal expenses (total monthly Operating Expenses). This will give the
company a better insight on financial realities (Berry 2004.)Exhibit A, below, shows a 12 month
income statement for three levels of fixed costs: $50,000, $75,000, and $100,000. Variable costs
are constant at 40% of net sales:Fixed costs

An Essay On The Pantheon
The Pantheon, whose name gets from the ancient Greek and signifies common to all the gods :
Pan means all , and Theon means gods , is the best preserved building from ancient Rome. Its
magnificent dome is a lasting testimony to the genius of Roman architects and as the building
stands virtually intact. The purpose of the building is not known for certain but rather the name,
porch and pediment decoration suggest a temple or something to that influence. Be that as it may,
no faction is known not of the divine beings, in this way the Pantheon may have been laid out as
a place where the emperor could show up in a setting which helped spectators to remember his
heavenly status, measure up to with other different gods of the Roman Pantheon and his idolized
emperor antecedents. The Pantheon was built on the definite site of two earlier Pantheon
structures, one commissioned by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa (27 25 BCE) and the second by
Domitian. The first building was destroyed by a fire in 80 CE and the second building was struck

She has previously become the empress dowager (the widow of the emperor with the power

emperor Gaozong suffered a stroke in 660, Wu seized the real power within China. Wu s slyness
resulted in the exile of members of the royal family that were heirs to the throne and in at least
in one case, to be poisoned (Li Hong). She also had made sure that her late husband Gaozong s

When it became apparent that Zhongzong would be under greater influence of his wife Wei than
his mother, Wu had him exiled after reducing his title to Prince of Luling. She then had her
youngest son Li Dan made emperor Ruizong whereupon she became both the substantive and actual

Essay about Against Making Flag Burning Illegal

The flag is a symbol of the United States, and what happens to the flag does not directly affect the
United States, therefore it should not be outlawed. The supporters who want to outlaw the act of
publicly burning a flag feel that it is demeaning to the United States. Although this may be true and
many Americans feel this way, our country was built on the understanding and ability of every
person to protest the actions of the government. Rep. Randy Cunningham, a supporter for the ban
of flag burning, said on the House floor To watch somebody burn the American flag represents a

the mere destruction or disfigurement of a particular physical manifestation of the symbol, without

one of the underlining problems with the people who argue that flag burning should be outlawed.
The flag is a symbol of this country, and in no way does burning the flag actually affect this country.

Narrative Essay On Coptic Americans
As we pulled into 145 Oak Street, Natick, MA on Christmas Eve 2011, instead of being greeted

Political Machines And Reformers In The 19th Century
Political machines and the reformers who rallied against them had incredible influence in urban
politics in the 19th and early 20th century. Each, however, has been labeled as corrupt
monopolies and are seen as selfish towards their own goals. While there are tactics that worked to
help cities grow stronger, the value of equal voting for all citizens was compromised in each regime
s quest for power.
Political bosses, heads of the political machine, focused on the vast influx of immigrants coming to
the United States in the 19th century and targeted not only them but also poor, working class
citizens. Political bosses ensured support was by offering goods and services, including business
contracts and licences within the city s growing areas, otherwise known as bribery. Because the
growing areas of cities mostly consisted of immigrants and the poor, the trade of a vote in
exchange to a good or a service was appealing to constituents and even more so to political bosses.
Machines offered jobs for immigrants, generating the possibility of a citizen s personal upward
mobility. However, these services were not always equal, and machines were willing to act with

The appeal of the Internet to these bodies was obvious, as it allowed disparate institutions to connect

Internet changed abruptly in 1992, when the U.S. government began pulling out of network

time. This change in focus marked the beginning of the Internet s astonishing expansion. In addition
to text documents, the Internet makes available graphics files (digitized photographs and artwork),

When I was young, I had a large appeal with fashion week. My friend and I would impersonate the
runway models in my living room, dressing up in my mother s clothes and laying stuffed animals
out like attendees. This fascination carried into high school, I found it as an opportunity to
demonstrate my style to a larger audience. Fashion week was intriguing to me because it provided a
way to express myself in a unique way and show a side of my own creativity. I anticipated this
project would give me a chance to learn more about the role fashion week plays in society.
The information I know about fashion week was gathered from personal exposure to fashion
week. I know fashion week occurs twice a year and covers the fall and spring ... Show more content

I decided to break my research into separate categories based on the thick questions I had written.
On Wikipedia there were various recommended sources listed such as How the runway took off ,
which helped widen my research as well as gather more evidence. Next, I searched fashion week,
economy in Google s search bar, this search provided loads of information leaving me with
surplus evidence relating to fashion week s effect on the economy. Also, I researched fashion
week, social and social standards, fashion week , which is how I covered the majority of my
section on fashion/fashion week s effects on social distinctions and social classes. Lastly, I had
to find at least one source that was not web related, so I went to my local library and asked the
librarian for books relating to fashion week. Unfortunately, she did not know of any books and
suggested me to the encyclopedia, yet the encyclopedia did not offer anything on fashion week it
provided a wide range of information regarding fashion.
The three most useful sources during my research are as follows: New York Fashion Week ,
New York Fashion Week: The Numbers and Economic Benefits behind the World s Biggest
Fashion Show , and Undressing Fashion . Wikipedia s article, New York Fashion Week , provided
loads of information on the basis of fashion week and the history. It proved to be a credible source
because it was a well known professional organization,

The Snake River, Yellowstone National Park
As the gentle Colorado sun peaked through the hotel blinds, serenely flooding the room, I dreamt
that I was drowning. My hands are frantically grasping for a flipped raft, my body haphazardly
tossing and twisting through the rushing current like a rag doll as my mind flashes with some
last fleeting images of my terrified family a few feet away. And right before the water closes in, I
catch a quick glimpse of the sign directly above me Snake River, Yellowstone National Park.
Coming to a conclusion that whitewater rafting down the Snake River was one of the worst
decisions my family has ever made, I sulked, and whined, and complained the whole walk down
to the docks. My parents, the guides, and a girl about my age in our group, all told me, don t
worry, it ll be fun. But their efforts were pointless, and I picked up on a conversation behind me,
where someone was casually talking about the overwhelming chance the raft would flip over.
Nevertheless, everyone apparently believed it was something I would look back on and maybe
even write a personal narrative about.
Suddenly, in the middle of all that sulking and whining and complaining, I found myself in a
wetsuit and oversized life jacket, glaring at the side of a roaring river, scowling at the wispy trees
that seemed to be waving goodbye while they whispered about my tragic, inevitable death. I barely
caught the tail end of his speech as the guide droned on about, and that is how you lift someone out
of the water using

There is a big difference in going to ride go karts and going to drive racing go karts. Most

Australi The Biggest Country
Australia is the sixth largest country, and the largest island continent in the world, and full of an
abundance of natural resources. Geographically Australia is about the same size as the lower 48
United States, however the population is less than the size of Los Angeles at 23.6 million. The
majority of the population is therefore grouped into the capital cities Sydney in New South Wales,
Melbourne in Victoria, Adelaide in South Australia, Brisbane in Queensland, Darwin in Northern
Territory, and Perth in Western Australia, Canberra in Australian Capital Territory
. While Australia
may be small in population, they also have a level of consumerism that equals the US, UK and
other first world countries. The amount of natural resources in Australia is astounding and with the
population grouped around the country its works to allow the country to utilize them as much as
possible. For Australia being such a large country with many natural resources, the use of their
mining industry has helped improve the economy and helped develop a stronger country.
Over the past years, Australia has gone through many changes associated with their economy. In
1996, Australia was in a period of recession, but began to have economic growth in the years of
1997 through to the early 2000s. This growth was due to the weakening of the Australia dollar
causing an increase in market shares for Australia exports. With the help of the decrease in prices
of exports for foreign buyers, in return

Raphael Lemkin s Radov Architect Of The Bosnian Genocide
Raphael Lemkin coined the word genocide and lobbied for his entire life to have the world
prevent as well as punish genocide. Eventually, in 1948, the United Nations adopted Lemkin s
work and promised to prevent genocide from happening again, but they failed on several occasions,
most notably in 1992, when a genocidewas carried out in Bosnia. This genocide was orchestrated
by Radovan Karadžić. Robert Donia s book, Radovan Karadžić: Architect of the
Bosnian Genocide, goes into chronicling the life of Radovan Karadžić and seeks to understand
how he went from a man of great ability and immense promise, to eventually transform himself into
the architect of the worst atrocities in Europe since the Second World War by unequivocally
embracing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, three genocides took place throughout the world and nothing was done to prevent it,
making Lemkin a failure. That being said, Karadžić s trial was a great triumph for the United
Nations and was likened to the Nuremberg trials of former Nazi leaders. Many decades have passed
since the world agreed to Lemkin s idea to stop this atrocious crime. Radovan Karadžić s trial
caused a turning point for the world because genocide was finally being punished. It may have
reminded the world of the forgotten promise they made back in 1948. Karadžić s trial proved
that the world would punish this evil crime, thus upholding the protection of human rights. In
addition, this ultimately marked the first ever genocide conviction in Europe and fulfilled Lemkin
s life long goal. If another sinister deed is executed that involves the mass extermination of a
group of people, there is hope that the United Nations will carry out Lemkin s dream of preventing
it and bringing those responsible like Karadžić to

Disney Portrayal Of Women
Disney s Portrayal of Women and Simplification of Morals For most people, the first image that
comes to mind when the subject of Walt Disney s animated movies comes up is the studio s
popular princesses. Ever since Snow White made her debut in 1937, Disney has cornered the
market on princesses. One primary topic that critics have discussed in Disney s films is the way
princesses are portrayed. The roles of the female characters are especially drawing the interest of
academic critics. Jack Zipes, author of Breaking the Disney Spell, believes that the Disney
princesses have regressed. On the other hand, Libe Zarranz, author of Diswomen Strike Back? The
Evolution of Disney s Femmes in the 1990s, and Rebecca Do Rozario, author of The Princess...

as a mother to the dwarves. The role of Snow White is very simple compared to the princesses of

princesses. While the female characters, such as Snow White, used to be a bit submissive and
worldly, over time some critics believe the female character has progressed. Zarranz notes, ... even

Essay about The Character of Prospero in Shakespeare s...
The Character of Prospero in The Tempest
The presence of Prospero is felt continuously in The Tempest, even in those scenes in which he
does not appear personally. He is the manipulator of the action of the play, and occupies the center
of the stage very markedly, especially if one compares his position with that of the central
characters of, say, most of Shakespeare s history plays. For in the latter plays, England itself
becomes the hero the English crown, in its resistance to civil war and factionalism, and therefore
there is usually no one character of quite the same stature as Prospero.
In Latin, the name Prospero would mean, I hope for. That which a member of English Renaissance
society would generally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It might be better to describe the process the characters all go through as initiation, not simply
education.
The point is that Prospero also learns. While he is master all through the play, he has learned well
before its opening that a Prince cannot abdicate his responsibilities. It will be recalled that Prospero
had lost his Dukedom in Milan in part because he neglected his everyday duties in favor of his
more abstract and theoretical studies. A Prince, Duke, or King cannot abdicate his
responsibilities. Prospero had been wrong when he had tried to do so, and in a way had himself
been punished by exile. But during his exile he has mastered both his own nature and his
surroundings, and has learned what his duty is as a ruler. He is doing only what he should when
he resumes his position as the ruler of Milan. In other Shakespearean plays, any ruler who
abdicates or surrenders power, such as King Lear or Richard II especially if he surrenders power
voluntarily as did Lear always comes to grief, and his act may lead not only to his own
destruction but to the ruin of the political order of the state, as nearly happens in King Lear. The
theory of kingship held by many Elizabethans implied that once God had appointed his viceregent
in the person of a ruler, it was not for the ruler to attempt to modify

However, there is a difference; immigrants tend to be illegal unlike tourists and their passports. Ever since the United States offered what was said to be a new life for immigrants, they have been showing up illegally. There has been the same amount of opportunities as there are obstacles to overcome. Immigrationat the U.S. and Mexican border has been a hot topic for decades now. Illegal immigration has not completely shown positive or negative effects on the economy, but more of a combination of the two. However, the employer and the illegal immigrant must agree on a contract so the employer does not have to pay for the income or pay taxes. In America, businesses get cheap work benefiting themselves economically speaking, and illegal immigrants need of money makes this happen. Working as a maid, mowing lawns, farming, washing dishes in a restaurant or a hotel are a few examples of what illegal immigrants work as. These jobs are paid below the minimum wage. People don t worry about having to clean their house because if they are part of the upper class then they can easily hire an illegal immigrant that will do it for about anything in return. According to Victor Davis Hanson from the NationalReview, he said [. . .] the member of the blue state elite envisions himself not as an exploiter of cheap labor, but rather more as a benefactor of the greater social good. This is basically saying that the Blue state elite member, (the upper class person) is not admitting that he does not take advantage of illegal immigrants working for little money, instead he is gaining benefits because of it. Upper class men are able to save money on such maids and others. Not only is this good from an individuals economical view, but for everyone socially. This is a way ... The Nullification Crisis started in 1828 when the Congress passed a very high tariff on manufactured goods from Europe. The Southerners started protesting against tariffs and called to secede from the United States. Since anger of tariffs continued to build in the South, the Congress passed a new, lower tariff in 1832, hoping that the protest in the South would die down. However, the South Carolinalegislature passed the Nullification act, an act refusing to pay the illegal tariffs of 1828 and 1832. If the federal government interfered then the South will continue calling for secession and the union will split apart. • 5. Spiritual Weedeater Weedeater / Words of healing and hope This week s sermon was Weedeater. A question I had was this: If you use it as a verb, is, the past tense, weedate? Nevertheless, as you know, weedeaters trims weeds where lawnmowers cannot. Another question I had was this: Would you use a weedeater to trim your flower bed? In the days of Jesus a weed called tares grew alongside the wheat, and in their early growth stages, it was difficult to differentiate between the two. If you plucked the tares you would also destroy some wheat. It was only at harvest time that you could clearly differentiate between the two (Matthew 13:24 30). Although some want a Church with no weeds, the Church is made up of broken, fallen people: Yes, people like you and I. The beauty of it is that Godgracefully accepts us and we gracefully accept one another; yet, some want to weed the Church and the world before God does. When we pass final judgment before God does, we arrogate ourselves to be God and destroy the good along with the bad (Matthew 13:36 43). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Taking a Look at Howard Philips Lovecraft Howard Philips Lovecraft has been described by many as the father of the modern horror story. His works influenced many future horror writers and set the tone for heavy metal music and horror films from the 1960s to the 1990s. Much of this influence is based upon H. P. Lovecraft s depiction of humanity in his stories. In the works of Howard Philips Lovecraft, the portrayal of humanity as an inconsequential piece of the universe that is unable to exact any meaningful change in the world due to its frail sanity and its inability to truly comprehend what is happening in its surroundings. is based upon H. P. Lovecrafts personal philosophy and life experiences. When H.P. Lovecraft was three years old, his father was confined to a mental institution where he would die a few years later. With his father s death, Lovecraft was cared for by his mother, two aunts, and his maternal grandfather. Lovecraft was an exceptionally intelligent child and by the age of six he would often read Gothic horror stories with his grandfather. Although he was extremely intelligent, Lovecraft did not regularly attend school until he was eight. H. P. was a sickly child and early in life began to suffer from terrible night terrors. While attending high school, Lovecraft suffered a nervous breakdown and never actually graduated. Following his departure from school, H. P. Lovecraft lived with his mother for several more years. • 11. Egg Donation Failure In order to identify the problem of egg donation, one must take into account the harm that is attached to said problem. Without payment regulations, egg donation agencies have the ability to compete with one another to receive more donations. This lack of order is detrimental to the health of women because of the financial encouragement to become repeat donors. To decrease the number of repeat donors, all egg donation agencies should strictly implement the $10,000 maximum payment set forth by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). By decreasing the payment maximum across the board for all egg donation agencies, women are less inclined to repeat the process. Monetary benefit may not be the only motivation for women to donate, however, it is still an incentive that plays a major role in women s decision making. As an example, Sierra Poulson, a three time donor, revealed that the third time she donated was only for money (Lewin, 2015). Poulson displays how the market of egg donation works and how money affects the tendency that women have to continue donating. When in 1885 Karl Benz designed, and developed the first 4 stroke engine that would later become the very heart of the first automobile that we are familiar with today. The automobile however, developed into so much more, becoming one of the defining industries of the entire 20th century and affecting people s lives in a multitude ways, but most especially the social aspect. This essay would like to highlight the importance that the automobile had on the cultural shift towards the phenomenon of suburbanization and the environmental impacts that ensued due to the change in urban planning to accommodate for our car dependent culture. Aware that he remains the only survivor, Tim, with heaving sobs, slowly falls to his knees and eventually lies with his wife on the ground. Throughout this entire scene, blue lighting falls on Tim and exhibits the loneliness and hopelessness that he now feels. Although such an example presents itself near the end of the film, it is imperative to understand this motif. Throughout the entire film, the lighting on Tim, when shown alone, is often blue as if recalling the crash sequence. His three laws are used again and again in all the fields of physics: Newton s 1st Law In the absence of external forces, an object at rest remains at rest and an object in motion remains in motion with a constant velocity. This law can be best observed in space, far from the gravity of a star or planet, where there is no friction or air resistance. If, in the middle of deep space, you give a rock a little push, it will continue with the direction and velocity you gave it forever. The only way to stop it is to apply a force in the opposite direction. This law is not intuitive because we are surrounded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every single action has an equal and opposite reaction. If you were standing in the middle of a perfectly slick frozen lake, and needed to get off, you could throw an object away from you. When you applied force to the object you threw, it also applied an equal force pushing you back. You would travel in the opposite direction from the throw, although slower, because you probably have mass more than the object you threw. Static and Kinetic Friction Friction is a key concept when you are attempting to understand car accidents. The force of friction is a force that resists motion when two objects are in contact. If you look at the surfaces of all objects, there are tiny bumps and ridges. Those microscopic peaks and valleys catch on one another when two objects are moving past each other. This explanation is a little simplified. There are other processes at work, including chemical bonding and electrical interactions. The level of friction that different materials exhibit is measured by the coefficient of friction. The formula is Вµ = f / N, where Вµ is the coefficient of friction, f is the amount of force that resists motion, and N is the normal force. Normal force is the force at which one surface is being pushed into another. If a rock that weighs 50 newtons is lying on the ground, then the normal force is that 50 newtons of force. The higher Вµ is, the more force resists motion if two objects are sliding past each other. There are

The constantly evolving world in which all businesses must operate necessitate a commitment to being energy efficient. Initially, it is possible to reduce the energy consumption for a business, with some relatively small steps. Collecting all the waste paper from the office bins, to be mulched and compressed into fuel bricks, which are then burned to produce the heat for the office, is one step too far for most businesses. However, these small steps take just a few minutes to carry out and will reap large reductions in energy usage. Turn off unused desktop computers and screens. Desktop computers and their screens are huge energy sapping devices, which just happen to be sat on every desk in the office. When a screen or a computer is not being used, they should be put into sleep mode to reduce the amount of electricity they are using. Leaving computers and screens turned on whilst someone has their lunch break will cost the company hundreds over the course of a year, yet it will take a few clicks to tun everything off for the hour. Indeed, it has become pretty common practice to leave a computer on in hibernation mode over night to save the employee a few minutes in the morning. While talking about soldiers, I would like to talk about another western media s misconception i.e. Jihad. The ideas of war and violence have become related to the Islamic religion from the media. The Quran (Muslim Holy Book) says Fight for the sake of Allah those that fight against you, but do not attack them first. Allah (God) does not love aggression . This is in part due to reimbursement model changes regarding patient outcomes as well as ethical concerns about the large number of preventable errors that continue to occur in our current system (Sachs, 2015). Between 210,000 and 400,000 deaths happen yearly due to medical errors in addition to approximately 4,000,000 to 8,000,000 errors that cause serious harm. It is clear that high costs are not providing excelling results. As our current system continues to shift in this value based direction, we will likely see even further changes in how and where care and treatments are provided (Phillips, 2015). For instance, home visits are beginning to be utilized to provide care for minor and chronic conditions. As in centuries past, basic health care is starting to be delivered in a patient s home. Hospitalcare is expensive comparatively, and the risk for complications such as medical errors, infection, and other hospital acquired conditions increases. The use of urgent care centers is also growing rapidly as they can provide quicker, cheaper, and equally effective services to individuals than the emergency room which used to care for these patients very ineffectively. From hygiene to hyperplasia, people have come to know the best way possible to survive in the living conditions they lived. To help protect themselves from sun, wind, rain, snow and even enemies, one of the methods used is what today is called vernacular architecture. The practice of designing and constructing a building today may seem easy with modern technology at our finger tips, however 500 years, one can imagine the difficulties, trial and errors the inhabitants of different geographical locations had to go through just to provide suitable shelter for themselves. My intent is to show how some believe that America s Cold War policies were completely justified and how others see America s actions as nothing more than American imperialism. • 28. Essay On The Berlin Wall On November 9, 1989; an event occurred that changed the county as a whole; the Berlin Wall fell. This significant event represented the end of communism in Germany. The German Democratic Republic (GDR) reunited with the Federal Republic of Germany on October 3, 1990; one year after the Wall fell. When the Berlin Wall fell, both East and West Berlinbecame physically reunified. There was no longer a wall standing in between the two sides and from here on out, two cities became one once again. This was a physically reconnection of two sides of East and West Berlin and the beginning of the loss of identity for those had previously lived in East Berlin(Leventhal). Kubicek believes that due to many years that East and West Germany were divided that the people of each side developed differently and had different values. Each side had created it s own educational system, government and political and views. Kubicek quoted one writer, It will take us longer to tear down the wall in our heads.... (17). This also applied to those living in East and West Berlin. East Berliners also viewed those living in West Berlin as boastful, aggressive and insensitive (Leventhal). They felt unwelcomed and the other half of the city felt very different to them. West Berliners viewed their side of the city as being less safe and now too crowded and those from East Berlin were known as the poorer people. City services were duplicated and in the East side were either closed or lost. Examples ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Democratic Party Racism Is the Democratic Party the Party of Racism? Most people of the Democratic Party fall into two different categories; either they are Democrats by design or by deception. The Democratic Party s history reveals it has long ignored its racist leanings. Historically, the Democrats were the most avid supporters of slavery while the founding of the Republican Party supported the abolition of slavery, and the entrenchment of civil liberties in the United States. For instance, the 13th amendment passed in 1864 that abolished slavery got massive support from the Republicans, in comparison to the Democrats, in Congress. Also, the agitation by the Republicans for equality is envisaged in the election of the first seven black Americans during the Reconstruction... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Roosevelt, the failure by most Democrats, especially those in positions of authority, to appreciate racial equality in support of white supremacy demonstrates their non reformist character and belief in racism. Such insensitiveness is a sign of failure by Democrats to appreciate the strides that the minorities such as the blacks had fought fervently over the years. It becomes apparent that most Democrats in leadership positions knew that any support for civil liberties and other forms of equality would evoke resentment amongst their supporters. It is, therefore, clear that most of the rights and freedoms being enjoyed in America today are due to non racist ideologies of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The Importance Of The Tet Offensive In The Vietnam War In late January of 1968, during the Vietnamese lunar new year known as Tet, the North Vietnamese launched a coordinated series of attacks on cities and outposts in South Vietnam. The attack, which went on to be known as the Tet Offensive, was an attempt from the Viet Cong to spark a rebellion in South Vietnam and to send a stark message to United States, advising them to limit their involvement in the conflict. Although U.S. and South Vietnamese troops were able to hold off some of the attacks, the Tet Offensive was still a victory for the Viet Cong despite having received numerous casualties. The Tet Offensive marked a turning point for the Viet Cong in the Vietnam war, with the attack beginning the United States long withdraw from the country. Due to news coverage of the attack being broadcasted on American television, public support for the war began to deteriorate, leading to more people wanting for an end to the conflict. North Vietnamese Commander General Vo Nguyen Giap had chosen the Vietnamese holiday, which occurs on January 31st, to break the stalemate in the war. Giap believed that a coordinated attack would cause an unstable Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) to collapse. He also hoped that this collapse would lead to chaos and a rebellion amongst South Vietnamese citizens. The main reason for Giap s attack; however, was an attempt to cripple the fragile relationship between the United States and South Vietnam. By the late 1960s, the strong ... • 32. The History and Function of the Condom Introduction The condom is a barrier device that is used since ancient times. Many couples do not want to get pregnant but still want to have sexual intercourse. In this circumstance, one way is to wear a condom. AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome), is a pandemic that caused 36 million deaths worldwide (citation: UNAIDS.org, 2012) caused by HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus). One of the reasons why it spread so quickly is because of sexual contact. The men s body fluid (semen) is spread into the women s body, which means the woman is also contracted with AIDS. But with the help of the condom, the number of people newly infected by AIDS greatly reduced. The condom does not stop AIDS, it stops AIDS from spreading. Throughout history, there are many different types of condoms, from the earliest leather condoms, to rubber, and now the Polyisoprene (Natural rubber). The most commonly used is the 1920 Latex Condom, which is the one I will focus on in this essay. How the condom works Human reproduction works when an erect penis is inserted into the vagina and the man thrust it in and out until ejaculation occurs. The semen (liquid that includes sperm and other liquid) is released into the vagina. The sperm travels along the vagina and meets the egg, where the sperm fertilizes the egg. The sperm and egg forms a zygote. The zygote later forms into an embryo cell and is implanted onto the endometrium (the uterus wall); this is the beginning of pregnancy. (Y9 Reproduction ... Rather than focus on profit improvement, owners and managers should focus on improving underlying business activities and processes such as sales, production and distribution. In order to determine whether a business decision will improve profitability, you first must understand how costsare defined, as well as the relationship between cost , volume, and profitability. When looking at break evens it is also helpful to look at fixed and variable costs. Fixed overhead is steady and can be factored in quite accurately. Variable costs are not as simple to calculate but in many industries variable costs follow certain percentages or ratios so they are easier to project. According to Tim Berry, the Break even Analysis lets a manager determine what needs to be sold, monthly or annually, to cover the costs of doing business the actual break even point. The Break even Analysis depends on three key assumptions:1.Average per unit sales price (per unit revenue: This is the price that you receive per unit of sales2.Average per unit cost: This is the incremental cost, or variable cost, of each unit of sales. If you buy goods for resale, this is what you paid, on average, for the goods you sell. If you sell a service, this is what it costs you, per dollar of revenue or unit of service delivered, to deliver that service. 3.Monthly fixed costs: Technically, a break even analysis defines fixed costs as costs that would continue even if the company went broke. Instead, always use the regular running fixed costs, including payroll and normal expenses (total monthly Operating Expenses). This will give the company a better insight on financial realities (Berry 2004.)Exhibit A, below, shows a 12 month income statement for three levels of fixed costs: $50,000, $75,000, and $100,000. Its magnificent dome is a lasting testimony to the genius of Roman architects and as the building stands virtually intact. The purpose of the building is not known for certain but rather the name, porch and pediment decoration suggest a temple or something to that influence. Be that as it may, no faction is known not of the divine beings, in this way the Pantheon may have been laid out as a place where the emperor could show up in a setting which helped spectators to remember his heavenly status, measure up to with other different gods of the Roman Pantheon and his idolized emperor antecedents. The Pantheon was built on the definite site of two earlier Pantheon structures, one commissioned by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa (27 25 BCE) and the second by Domitian. While there are tactics that worked to help cities grow stronger, the value of equal voting for all citizens was compromised in each regime s quest for power. Political bosses, heads of the political machine, focused on the vast influx of immigrants coming to the United States in the 19th century and targeted not only them but also poor, working class citizens. Political bosses ensured support was by offering goods and services, including business contracts and licences within the city s growing areas, otherwise known as bribery. Because the growing areas of cities mostly consisted of immigrants and the poor, the trade of a vote in exchange to a good or a service was appealing to constituents and even more so to political bosses. Robert Donia s book, Radovan KaradzМЊicМЃ: Architect of the Bosnian Genocide, goes into chronicling the life of Radovan KaradЕѕiД‡ and seeks to understand how he went from a man of great ability and immense promise, to eventually transform himself into the architect of the worst atrocities in Europe since the Second World War by unequivocally embracing... That being said, KaradЕѕiД‡ s trial was a great triumph for the United Nations and was likened to the Nuremberg trials of former Nazi leaders. Many decades have passed since the world agreed to Lemkin s idea to stop this atrocious crime. Radovan KaradЕѕiД‡ s trial caused a turning point for the world because genocide was finally being punished. It may have reminded the world of the forgotten promise they made back in 1948. KaradЕѕiД‡ s trial proved that the world would punish this evil crime, thus upholding the protection of human rights. In addition, this ultimately marked the first ever genocide conviction in Europe and fulfilled Lemkin s life long goal. If another sinister deed is executed that involves the mass extermination of a group of people, there is hope that the United Nations will carry out Lemkin s dream of preventing it and bringing those responsible like KaradЕѕiД‡ to ... Disney Portrayal Of Women Disney s Portrayal of Women and Simplification of Morals For most people, the first image that comes to mind when the subject of Walt Disney s animated movies comes up is the studio s popular princesses. Ever since Snow White made her debut in 1937, Disney has cornered the market on princesses. One primary topic that critics have discussed in Disney s films is the way princesses are portrayed. The roles of the female characters are especially drawing the interest of academic critics. Jack Zipes, author of Breaking the Disney Spell, believes that the Disney princesses have regressed. On the other hand, Libe Zarranz, author of Diswomen Strike Back? The Evolution of Disney s Femmes in the 1990s, and Rebecca Do Rozario, author of The Princess... • 51. Essay about The Character of Prospero in Shakespeare s... The Character of Prospero in The Tempest The presence of Prospero is felt continuously in The Tempest, even in those scenes in which he does not appear personally. He is the manipulator of the action of the play, and occupies the center of the stage very markedly, especially if one compares his position with that of the central characters of, say, most of Shakespeare s history plays. For in the latter plays, England itself becomes the hero the English crown, in its resistance to civil war and factionalism, and therefore there is usually no one character of quite the same stature as Prospero. In Latin, the name Prospero would mean, I hope for. That which a member of English Renaissance society would generally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It might be better to describe the process the characters all go through as initiation, not simply education. The point is that Prospero also learns. While he is master all through the play, he has learned well before its opening that a Prince cannot abdicate his responsibilities. It will be recalled that Prospero had lost his Dukedom in Milan in part because he neglected his everyday duties in favor of his more abstract and theoretical studies. A Prince, Duke, or King cannot abdicate his responsibilities. Prospero had been wrong when he had tried to do so, and in a way had himself been punished by exile. But during his exile he has mastered both his own nature and his surroundings, and has learned what his duty is as a ruler. He is doing only what he should when he resumes his position as the ruler of Milan. In other Shakespearean plays, any ruler who abdicates or surrenders power, such as King Lear or Richard II especially if he surrenders power voluntarily as did Lear always comes to grief, and his act may lead not only to his own destruction but to the ruin of the political order of the state, as nearly happens in King Lear. The theory of kingship held by many Elizabethans implied that once God had appointed his viceregent in the person of a ruler, it was not for the ruler to attempt to modify ...
