Technology has helped people in many areas in life; particularly the thrive of networking has
brings people from over the world together. As such, nowadays, multinational is seemed as a
trend (from as small as a group of friends, to as big as a company, and country). In today world,
you can easily get jobs in countries others than your origin. As a consequence, many big

Another area that culture is applied in Marriott is that the number 13 is not being used. As a
cultural belief that the number 13 is an unlucky number. Marriott is also very involving in ethical
issues: We need to stand together to ensure that travel and tourism are always a positive force for
good in the world. (Marriott, Jr., 2013, p.40) Marriott engages in many human rights campaigns
such as: SOS Children s Villages , which is to help children with disadvantaged background on
education, employment, housing, social and life skills...; Succeed through Service that support
addressing school drop out... (Marriott International, Inc, 2015) Marriott is also committed in
minimising the impact on environment, they policies are to reduce the energy and water usage,
asking their guests to cooperate with them as recycle used tower, recycle soap for homeless

Australia (71/100), United State of America (68/100), Canada (68/100) 3 countries with high
restraint: China (24/100), India (26/100), Iraq (17/100). Indulgence and restraint is the sixth

Formula 1 Constructor
The resources, capabilities and attributes that are required for the success in Formula One (F1)
can be looked on a number of dimensions taking into consideration the unique and fast paced
context of Formula One. F1 is a highly competitive industry and based in a rapidly changing
environment, which has been defined by Porter s five forces (Appendix One). Key resources
within F1 are both tangible and intangible and can be considered under the following broad
categories: Physical Resources: The car and its components such as engines and chassis are vital
resources but the technological advancement determines its ability to win races. Test Tracks are

Though such advantageous technological strategic capabilities have been required by
constructors for competitive advantage, they have also become been a pivotal factor for the
introduction of increased legislation designed to reduce uncertainty and increase competition,
such as the introduction of generic tyres. The factors responsible for the success of the teams in
their respective periods of dominance can be considered through analysis of the organisations
core competencies, a form of competitive advantage which is usually a result of collective
learning processes and are manifested in business and activities and processes. The core
competencies are those unique capabilities, which usually span over multiple products or
markets. (Hafeez 2002). Ferrari s dominance in the mid 1970 s Much of Ferrari s success during
the period of the mid 1970 s can be attributed to the ability to build their race cars at the Maranello
site without the need to outsource for component parts. This created centralisation of knowledge
and expertise, thus the ability to transfer knowledge between departments without leakage. When
Ferrari sold 40% of the company to Fiat, in 1969, providing huge cash injection thus acquiring the
Fiorano test track allowing them to test the change in any aspect of the car on the track and observe
real time results. This

Reaction Paper About Stress
Stress is how the brain and body respond to any change that requires an adjustment or response.
Throughout our lives we have been told by our friends and family that we need to minimize our
stress and manage it before it gets too out of hand. This leads to us looking at stress as a terrible
thing that will ruin our lives. Everyone is affected by stressand it is something that is a part of our
daily lives. The key thing to remember is that stress is not always a bad thing. It has been proven
that looking at stress as a good thing rather than a bad thing can actually make you stress less.
There are two main types of stress. Eustress, which is the good stress, and distress which is the bad
stress. Dealing with the eustress is what most people will think is relatively easy as you don t
have to do anything about it and don t have to get rid of it., it s the distress that people tend to
have issues controlling. Being stressed for a long period of time can lead to a number of different
problems such as anxiety. It is important to recognize that you are stressed, figure out exactly what
is stressing you out, and then act according to what your stressor is. In order to minimize or even
get rid of your stress and anxiety, you will need to know the symptoms, common stressors, and
when, where, and how to seek professional help.
Stress and anxiety is something that can be very hard to recognize in ourselves. People tend to deny
that they are stressed, or even just mistake the symptoms

Layers Of The Atmosphere- Bri Caamano
Atmosphere Paper
Layers of The Atmosphere Bri Caamano Our atmosphere on Earth has many different layer
which protect us from the harmful elements in space. Our atmosphere is divided into five layers.
The troposphere is the first layer closest to earth. In this layer weather occurs, this is also the
closest layer to us. The second layer would be the stratosphere. The stratosphere is one of the most
stable layers. Due to the stability of this layer jets and aircrafts fly within this area. The
Mesosphere is the third layer from earth this layer starts 50 km above Earth s surface and goes up
85 km high. The top of the Mesosphere is the coldest part of Earth s atmosphere. The fourth layer is

Next is the mesosphere which extends up from the stratopause to about 80 kilometers. The
mesosphere can drop down to nearly 100В° C which is equal to ~200В° F. This is the coldest
layer in the atmosphere. The thermosphere is final thermally definitive layer of the atmosphere. In
this layer, temperatures can reach up to up to 725В° 1, or 225В° C. The thermosphere can be
divided on the basis of chemistry. The lower thermosphere, the ionosphere extends from roughly
80 kilometers, or 50 miles, too somewhere around 300 to 600 kilometers out. After the ionosphere
comes the exosphere. The exosphere is the second outer layer of the thermosphere. It lies beyond
about 500 1,000 kilometers and is defined by an increasing hydrogen and helium level. This is
because the oxygen and nitrogen that control the lower atmosphere have been broken into ions in
the ionosphere. The layer that secedes from the exosphere is the homosphere. The homosphere is
the portion of the lower atmosphere with almost no Ionization. Finally, the heterosphere, the area in
which you get varying mixes of gas molecules and ions, is the last layer in the thermal structure of
our atmosphere. It reaches heights between 80 and 10,000 kilometers. These layers show the
thermal structure of our atmosphere.

How Does Henry Fleming Fantasize In The Red Badge Of Courage
A War of Wounds War, a terrifying and dangerous word in today s society; most are fought over
oil and terrorism in foreign countries half a world away. However, in the 1860 s Americans are
fighting a civil war for their beliefs, and more importantly, glory. At least, that is what Henry
Fleming fantasizes when he gets ready for his first battle in The Red Badge of Courage(Published
by Bantam Classics, copyright 2004). The protagonist soon realizes the danger he has placed
himself into after getting bombarded with cannonballs and bullets. He struggles to maintain his
pride after running away from the unnamed battlefield and faking an injury. Author Stephen Crane

After realizing the mistake he made, Henry makes his way to the battlefield where he asks a
fellow soldier why they are losing. The soldier hits Fleming in the head with the butt of his rifle
and knocks him unconscious. He later awakens and clumsily makes his way back to his
regiment camp. When the guards ask him how he has gotten injured the private replies that he
was shot in the head. The narrator explains, Gee, it must hurt like thunder? he said. The youth
leaned heavily upon his friend. Yes, it hurts hurts a good deal, he replied. There was a faltering
in his voice. (74). Shame is observed in Henry s voice when he takes a pause in his speech; the
falter and words hurts a good deal shows how Private Fleming feels guilty for lying about his
injury, but finds it necessary in order not no be a disgrace to the army. Deception and lies are
abundant in most wars, and even though Union Soldiers are supposed to be on the same side,
lying occurs almost everywhere. Furthermore, most of the lies pertain to if the injury is real or
superficial. Wounds can represent shame and glory, but if a soldier experiences to many wounds

The Pros and Cons of DNA Profiling Essay
The Positive And Negative Effects of DNA Profiling
Genetic engineering has developed and blossomed at a frightening rate in the last decade.
Originating as merely an area of interest for scientists, genetic engineering has now become an area
of which all people should be somewhat knowledgeable.
DNA profiling has many uses, both positive and negative, in our society.
Aside from its usefulness in many legal investigations, DNA profiling can be used in the
workplace to discriminate against employees whose profiles could pose a financial risk. For
example, genetic technology can and has been used to determine the capacity of a person to
contract certain diseases, such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lawyers need to increase their scientific knowledge and keep up with ongoing research in order to
competently question and understand scientific evidence put forth.
But these do not represent the only possible downfalls of DNA profiling in criminology. The
involuntary seizure of one s blood or hair undermines the constitutional rights guaranteed to all
citizens by the Fourth Amendment
(protection from unreasonable searches and seizures). Nevertheless, many argue that a DNA
sample taken from a suspect could lead to an indictment or release of the individual and, thus,
warrants an exception from the Fourth Amendment.
Besides, one could make a plausible argument that, once held in custody, the seizure of a person s
strand of hair does not violate a suspect s Fourth
Amendment rights or rights of privacy because the hair is visible.
However, the use of DNA profiling does not end in criminal investigations. DNA testing has
ventured out of the courtroom in an effort to show a genetic link between race and violent
tendencies. If successful, this link will do nothing but justify prejudice attitudes toward minorities,
particularly the black race. Furthermore, such biological approaches towards criminality do not take
into account sociological factors, such as poverty, and would inevitably lead to the practice of
controlling

Snakes are Infected with Ophidian Paramyxovirus Virus
Ophidian paramyxovirus is a virus that affects snakes, particularly in the family Viperidae; it
compromises the immune system, which can lead to mortality through secondary bacterial
infections. This negative sense, single stranded RNA virus infects the respiratory system and
can be transmitted through feces, respiratory tract secretions, fomites, or vectors such as mites;
as such, in captivity, good husbandry practices are critical to prevent transmission of this
disease. Paramyxovirus is a viral pathogen. The natural host and origin for this virus is unknown,
but it is possible that it is not a viperid (5). The first reported outbreak of paramyxovirus in snakes
was in a group of Brazilian lancehead vipers in a serpentarium in Switzerland (1). These vipers
were originally from Brazil, so it is likely that the origin of the virus is found in Brazil (5). The
virus itself is an RNAvirus consisting of a filamentous particle enveloped in a spiked membrane,
and can be between 140 and 321 nanometers in diameter. The virus replicates at an optimal
temperature of 30В°C, so the disease is a particular concern in colder seasons (3). This virus is
easily transmitted between individuals, particularly when they are housed close to each other. It is
most often transmitted through respiratory secretions (2). It can also be transmitted through
aerosols, such as sputum, and oral and cloacal secretions. The virus may persist in water and may
be spread through feces. It can also be

Essay about Seal Hunting in Atlantic Canada
The annual hunt of harp seals (Pagophilus groenlandicus) in Atlantic Canada is contested at the
start of nearly every season, with celebrities, politicians, and the public actively weighing in on the
matter. Within all of the dialogue and debate, there can be a lot of bias and misrepresentation of
facts advocating for or against the seal hunt. Thus, the true sustainable aspects of the industry are
drowned out and lost due to the sheer amount of controversy surrounding the issue. Sustainability
entails meeting the needs of today without sacrificing the needs of the future ( Sustainable
Development 1). The concept of sustainable resource development involves support pillars that

Contemporary dishes like seal flipper pie have also contributed to the cultural identity of
Newfoundland society. As a result of these strong cultural ties, commercial and subsistence sealing
continues to exist through legal policy by demand from both government and society. The policies
that govern seal hunting are based on a sustained yield principle that does not compromise the
harvest for future generations, and are thus in accordance with sustainable aspects of resource
development. Economic benefits gained from the seal hunt include an increase in trading
relationships for Canada and the stimulation of the provincial economy of Newfoundland and
Labrador. As reported by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, the total landed value of the
seal harvest for 2006 was $34.3 million dollars ( Market 1). This figure represents a historic
high, when market prices per pelt were favourable. Regardless, the money brought in from seal
hunting is said to have a trickle down effect on other sectors of the economy ( Market 1). Canada
has historically been the leading exporter of seal products in the global marketplace, and had
exported over $70 million in product between 2005 and 2011 ( Market 1) Nationally, the seal hunt
has enabled Canada to forge new trading relationships in the international community, as evidenced
by a 2011 deal between Canada and China. The

Total Government Control In George Orwell s 1984
The novel 1984, written by George Orwell, was more than an insight into what the future would
hold for our current society. It was a pure example of how a government set its foundation on
facilitating corruption, falsification of records, and even infringing on the rights of the people they
govern. In more ways than one, the book communicates these truths by cultivating small instances
that will ultimately develop a spiderweb of plots that may or may not be relevant to the personal
interpretation of the book. The aspect of this proposal is to not only show that total government
control will hinder a society but to give a true understanding of the balance between two governed
forces.

protagonist and ultimately the victim of a totalitarianism society. Even ... Show more content on

Formal Critique of “Indian Summer Hudson River” Essay
Albert Bierstadt (1830 1902) was an American artist and member of the Hudson River School.
He was one of the first of the Hudson River Artist s to paint beyond New York and see the
unexplored west. Bierstadt s paintings focused more upon the sublime in nature. His painting
titled Indian Summer Hudson River was completed in 1861. It is an oil on canvas painting, which
measures twenty four inches in height by forty one inches wide. One looks out across a secluded
section of the Hudson River. It is late afternoon, and the sun is beginning its decent. The sun is

Implied line is used to draw the viewer s eyes to the cattle which are crossing in the sun s
reflection upon the river, then up toward the sun where it guides one s eyes around the outsides of
the painting. Bierstadt uses both a restricted palette and analogous color scheme of reds oranges
and yellows, which differ in their levels of intensity, thus giving a sense of time to the artwork. By
use of these colors the viewer can determine the time of the year in the painting is fall, and the time
of the day could be perceived to be early morning or late afternoon. While one is unable to touch
this painting to determine its physical texture, what one cannot help but be impressed with is the
painting s visual texture. Bierstadt use of texture helps to aid in the illusion of the painting s three
dimensional quality. He achieves texture with the illusion of light, through color choice, and in
suggested motion of the water and leaves through repetition and patterns. The most dominant
element in this painting would be the sense of space it exhibits. Bierstadt achieves this again
through the use of implied line in the trees which move upward toward the sky and down into the
water. In continuing the analysis of Bierstadt s painting, one must also explore the principles of art
in his painting and what elements create them. The emphasis or focal point of Bierstadt s Indian
Summer is undoubtedly the sun. The sun is painted with such

Immigration Policy On Immigration
The famous singer songwriter, Conor Oberst, told huffington post, How we treat the
undocumented says a great deal about us as a people and whether or not we ll continue to fulfill
the fundamental American promise of equality and opportunity for all. According to the U.S.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement, 240,255 people were deported in the year 2016.
However, this year the number of arrest have rose up to 38 percent (Gomez). The number of
people being deported have been increasing every year. The reason behind the increase of number is
unfair hearings and policy of deportation. The United States ImmigrationSystem should change
their policies on deportation because it violates the constitutional rights and exposes the inequality
towards immigrants. Current The United States Immigration System (USIC) policy is inhumane to
the country and its legal system. There have been many incidents of brutal deportation where
person is being hurt or experienced inhumanity. As stated by Mallory Shelbourne in the article
published in The Hill, The administrative complaint includes accounts from multiple women who
were detained by [Immigrations and Customs Enforcement] while pregnant, including one woman
who said she was unable to obtain medical attention after telling officials she was pregnant and
bleeding. This exemplified the cruelty of officials in the process. Pregnant women or any medical
seeking person should be taken care by officials regardless of their immigration status.

The Amendment Of The 14th Amendment
Paper #1 Essay Question #2 Imagine living in a world where everyone was considered equal.
Imagine living in a world where people were considerate of others. Imagine living in a world where
everyone had the same rights and privileges. The Framers took a step at achieving this world with
the passage of the 14th amendment. The intent of the 14th amendment was to prevent state
governments from denying African Americans in the U.S. from their citizenship. At the time
Africans were unable to attain citizenship because of their skin color. The Framer s objective in
formulating the 14th amendment was to grant citizenship to everyone born in the U.S., regardless
of skin color. The 14th amendment expanded the protection of civil rights to all citizens in America.
Barron V. Baltimore (1833) is a significant case in history because it concluded that the fundamental
rights provided by the Bill of Rights were not guaranteed by the state. The U.S. Supreme Court
ruled in favor of Baltimore, concluding hat the 5th amendment was limited and should be followed
by the Federal government. Through this case, Supreme Court Justice John Marshall declared that
the Bill of Rights applied to the federal government, not including the states. According to Section 1
of the 14th Amendment, government laws must not abridge upon the life, liberty, or property on an
individual without just cause . Because of the Due Process Clause in the 14th amendment, the

My Capstone Experience At Fort Gibson Essay
During my Capstone experience I was able to be involved in a training gym in Fort Gibson,
Oklahoma. In this gym there are ages four to eighteen training. The athletes were from: Fort
Gibson, Woodall, Tahlequah, Briggs, Hilldale, Oktaha, Vian, and Muskogee. The sports
available were: basketball, football, baseball, wrestling, and healthy day to day living. There
were multiple trainers and they used multiple different facilities. Since Fort Gibson is somewhat
small and limited on their workout resources they used: local churches, a gym located
downtown, outdoor fields at the Fort, the high school track, and sometimes even do home calls.
In basketball the ages of the day were eleven to fourteen. The athletes started with a dynamic
warm up and athletic work for ten to fifteen minutes. This helps to prevent injury, provides
performance improvement and overall athletic ability. During this particular trainers warm up
they liked involving a basketball as much as possible. The next thing was teaching skills and
using fun drills to improve the athlete s skills. This part lasted about thirty to forty five minutes.
The number one reason kids quit sports is because it just isn t fun anymore. What we like to
focus on here is how to teach the skills and make it an all around fun experience. We aren t
training high school, college, or professional athletes, so we try not to treat their practices like it is

On the other hand, Russia has had a rough past in regards to the most famous Chernobyl power

500,000 rescue workers to help clean up the radioactive debris and it was estimated that deaths
ranged between 30,000 and 200,000 deaths. If people did not die from this, they could have been
affected by radioactive exposure, which can cause radiation developing cancer at an early age in
children, stillbirths with being born with birth defects. This ultimately led the fallout of the city of

Russia. It has been stated that there is still radioactive radiation that fills the air in Kiev even after
31 years of it occurring.
Russia has had an interesting upbringing in the pathway of becoming a powerful nation as it stands

The Elements Of Democracy In Ancient Sparta And Athens
According to Brand (2010) there were very different political models in ancient Sparta and Athens.
Indeed, he advises that Athens was a much more developed powerhouse, where today s democracy
initiated, whereby Sparta was, conversely, a fierce warmongering state where only male warriors
participated in politics. However, Brand also acknowledges elements of democracyin both city
states.
In the case of Sparta, the ecclesia , or the apella were the eligible voting public (Larkin, n.d.) Only
Spartan free men of adulthood were able to vote, and adulthood was granted on the Spartan s
30th birthday. Additionally, women, immigrants and unequals such as Helots were ineligible to
vote (Brand, 2010.) In this instance we see the basic semblance of a voting public, but, as Brand
(2010) states, whilst the apella met once a month to discuss issues, their scope of influence was
severely limited. The Spartan political model was a hierarchy of two kings (historically from
two ancient ruling families) whose balance was kept in check by three (later) five Ephors who
were elected annually, and who kept the kings power at a moderate level (Brand, 2010.) Beneath
the Ephors were the Gerousia . According to Larkin (n.d.), It consisted of 28 Gerontes (Senators...

Gerousia controlled much of the public business and decided on what the Assembly could debate.

Mathematics of the Eye and Color Essay
Eye And Color
The eye form a optical image on the light sensitive cell of the retina. It is very often compared to
a camera in it so workings. However it is like a camera in its focusing properties but is very
different after the light has hit the retina. The camera just prints a point to point representation of
the image on film, where as the is much more complex and interesting. The visible light is only a
very small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum and various wavelength in this visible spectrum
of light represent different colors. Short wavelength light is reddish, medium wavelength light is
greenish and long wavelength light is bluish. This make apparent in the a schematic of

Retina is the light sensitive part of the eye. The part that converts the light stimuli into neural
signals to be interpreted by the cerebral cortex. I will not discuss how the photoreceptors convert
the light stimuli into electrical signals, since it involves bio chemistry, a good description can be
found in any physiology book. Light must pass through the neural layers of the retina before
reaching the photosensitive layer which consists of rods and cones. The neural layer consist of
ganglion cells and bipolar cells. The bipolar cells take the electrical from the photoreceptors to the
ganglions cell which in turn form the optic nerve that connect the eye to the brain. The optic nerve
and the blood circulation apparatus leave the eye at the optic disc or the blind spot. Named so
because it has not photoreceptors. A special part of the retina crucial of acute vision is which does

Fixed Interest Rate Mortgage
As a consumer planning for a home purchase, one of the major decisions that you will have to
make is deciding what type of mortgage will best meet your needs. In today s mortgage market,
the types of mortgages available to you can be divided into two categories, adjustable and fixed
interest rate mortgages.
Before discussing the benefits and pitfalls of each mortgage type, let s recap their primary
differences. A fixed rate mortgageis a mortgage where the rate and the monthly mortgage payments
are fixed to a specific amount for the entire life of the loan. An adjustable rate mortgage, also
known as an ARM, however, is a mortgage where the rate can fluctuate throughout the life of the
loan. Because the rate in an ARM can change, the monthly ... Show more content on

The benefit of an ARM to you is that the short term interest rate on an ARM is typically lower
than the interest rate of a fixed rate mortgage. For example, If you plan on staying in a home for
only 5 years, a 5 Year ARM is a good idea because its interest rate will be much lower than a 30
year fixed rate loan and will cost you less. The danger of an ARM, however, is that if your plans
change and you have to stay in your home for more than 5 years, the ARM s interest rate can
suddenly change after the 5 year adjustment period, possibly making your monthly mortgage
payment much higher and burdensome. You can use an adjustable rate mortgage calculator to
experiment with worst case payments of an adjustable rate

The Dialogue On The Two Great World Systems
Galileo s book The Dialogue on the Two Great World Systems is a 1632 book written by Galileo
in Italian in which he compares the Copernican system to the Ptolemaic system. In this book,
Galileo baldly (some said at the time recklessly) advocated the heliocentric / Copernican world
view, contrasting it to the prevailing geocentric / Ptolomeic model. In order to obtain permission to
publish, Galileo made a promise to religious authorities (including his supporter Pope Urban VIII)
he would present heliocentrismas a hypothetical. The reason Galileo made the promise is because
his views contradict passages of the Bible which refer to the earth as stationary and the sun orbiting.
After the publication of the book, the Roman Inquisition found

PTSD And Its Impact On My Life
If there s one event that has made a huge impact in my life it would have to be a roll over car
accident that my parents, aunt, and I were when I was in sixth grade. This car accident has
impacted me negatively by leaving me with PTSD and positively by figuring out what career I am
pursuing.
This car accident led me to have PTSD, which stands for post traumatic stress disorder. It is a
disorder that follows a traumatic event. It made me into who I am today because even though it
happened nine years ago I still feel the effects as if it happened yesterday. For example, when my
friend s dad was also in a bad car accident and I went with them to see the car I had an anxiety
attack because I had flashbacks. I went months with nightmares and whenever I saw something
that reminded me of that day I would shut down. PTSD made something that people do so
effortlessly into something absolutely terrifying for me which is driving. I still can t drive in big

I saw how the paramedics worked quickly and efficiently to take care of my unconscious and
bleeding dad, shocked mom, and my aunt who was ejected even while wearing a seatbelt to the

pursue a career in the medical field and specifically a paramedic. It shaped me into who I am today
because it makes me want to be able to help people when tragedy strikes or whenever they are in
need just like those paramedics helped my family. I want to be able to repay all that was done for
my family and I by pursuing this job. Knowing that I can make a difference in people s life is what
drives me through this tough career. Those paramedics acted quickly and very sufficiently by
knowing what to do without hesitation and that dedication is what motivates me to continue on

since 2004 after studying medicine at a unique, combined medical school, the Dartmouth Brown

While HIPEC can be appropriate for a wide variety of patients, in general, the cancer needs to be
limited to the abdominal cavity for HIPEC to be used, Dr. Labow explained, adding that it can
be combined with traditional chemotherapy as well. He cautions that patients must be generally
healthy to undergo HIPEC with cytoreduction, as the procedure can be long and complex.
Another key to HIPEC treatment is the need to be able to remove all of the visible cancer and
then administer the chemotherapy. If the disease is too extensive then HIPEC may not be
possible. HIPEC enables us to administer a high concentration of chemotherapy right where the
cancer cells live, rather than circulate it all around the body, Dr. Labow said. This allows for
fewer side effects and better killing of the cancer cells. It can also reduce the need for regular
chemotherapy, although it is usually given in addition to regular chemo, and not instead of it. It
gives us a new option to fight the most difficult to treat cancers. Want a referral to see Dr. Labow?

Concentration Camp Dachau
The Dreaded Story of Dachau A concentration camp refers to a camp or closed area where people
are detained under brutal conditions usually having no access to legal rights of arrest and
imprisonment that would normally be accepted in a democracy. Concentration camps played a
large part in the mass killing of Jews in Europe lead by Adolf Hitler. An example of a concentration
camp is Dachau. During the World War II, Jews were separated into two groups the healthy and the
unhealthy. The unhealthy were immediately sent to an extermination camp where they were killed
in gas chambers and had harsh experiments performed on them. The healthy were sent to
concentration camps, where they would work until they died of starvation, or they earned... Show

Another form of punishment was the rope. During the rope the prisoner was hung so their heels
would not touch the ground. This made the prisoner stand on their toes to stay alive. This lasted
usually around 2 hours per incident. The rope was used to punish people who were caught
collecting evidence, which was on a no tolerance level. Whipping happened almost on a daily
basis. Prisoners were whipped for anything from mouthing back to not doing there work right, to
even looking at a guard the wrong way. Being whipped was looked at by prisoners as the easy
way out. Most considered the gassing of prisoners to be the worst punishment of all. Gassing
occurred in groups, prisoners were gassed for various reasons, but mostly for refusing to do
work. To be gassed prisoners were sent to Linz, Austria. There were many precautions in place to
prevent prisoners from escaping. The camp had barbed wire charged with electricity to prevent
climbing. If prisoners made it through the barbed wire they had to swim across a canal that was
extremely hard to cross. It was almost impossible to escape. If a prisoner escaped the ones that
remained behind suffered the punishment. The rule was that if one escapes, ten must die, and that
was carried out frequently. On the camp there was a crematorium, which was there for easier
disposal of the dead bodies. The crematorium was originally built in a wooden barracks on the

Freedom Of Speech And Freedom Of Speech
One of the most complex things in establishing in a government is determining how much freedom
the citizens in a society has. Throughout history we have seen many different type of governments
that include North Koreas dictatorship to the United States that has a government based on
principles of democracy. In societies that have democratic governments such as the United States,
England, France, and many other western European countries, the citizens have a high degree of
freedom of speech. In addition, these people are allowed to have a high degree of freedom of
thought. Although these are both very important to have in life because they allow you to express
who you truly are, there is a difference between freedom of speech and freedom of thought. While
there is a difference between freedom of speech and freedom of thought, English Philosopher John
Stuart Millprovides his opinion on the importance of freedom of speech and freedom of thought in
his book On Liberty. Whether you are a person who is wealthy or poor, highly educated or not
educated at all, or even a minority, every person in a democratic society such as the United States is
granted the right of freedom speech. Other countries throughout Western Europe grant the right of
freedom of speech to their citizens. However, the right of freedom of speech is granted by the
United States constitution which was written during the eighteenth century. It is clear that the
countries that allow the right of freedom of

Pop Culture And Pop Art
Architecture in every life reflects the culture of every society interacting closely with the history,
politics and social feature of the society. Change in the cultural or social attitude has greatest impact
on architecture. Thus it would be generic to conclude that the role of culture in promoting an
architectural style or era is an essential part of its existence.
Roemer van Toorn1 states that Matters concerning architecture are no longer about being popular
but about creating the popular. But the main idea to the proposal suggests that Contemporary
architecture has already been absorbed by the popular. It is now a part of the scene, a part of what
we call popular culture.
The popular culture is more defined by what is displayed in mass medias such as the MTV or
Lifestyle magazines or Daily newspapers. Popular culture is entangled with consumer culture2,
basically suggesting that popular is what is popularly consumed or accepted.
And as architecture has crossed the threshold to the field of mass media and popular consumption,
it had indeed gone pop! that being a part of popular culture.
The Minimalism3 and Pop Art both art movements came up about the same time. Both these
movements posed a question on art s autonomy as represented by the institutionalization of abstract
painting. Moreover, both proposed that the art escaped the privilege of the unique artistic object
and its corresponding museum context.
The movement had different approaches though. Minimalist created objects that would focus the
attention on the industrialization of manufacture and on the spatial experience. While, pop art
reconnected to the outside world of popular culture and mass consumption.
When Robert Venturi4 proposed that architecture can be drawn from popular visual culture of the
contemporary urban landscape, he was unaware of the potential of the happenings of today. In fact
later he was accused by detractors of using the idea of popular culture to reinforce architecture s
position at the high end of cultural spectrum. The popular forms and images were absorbed into the
vocabulary and architecture thus regained its determinant role of popular taste.
The part of architecture s move towards pop is also related to the desire

Delta Airlines Hedging Essay
ome airlines have decided that, with oil prices weak, the potential benefits from hedging may no

Airlines aren t the only companies that hedge their required fuel. But airlines sensitivity to fuel
costs can be more obvious to consumers, who often feel it in the form of higher ticket prices and
international fuel surcharges when oil prices rise.

Europe, after huge hedge losses last year, some of the largest carriers are hedging less of their

While a geopolitical crisis could quickly push up oil prices again, experts said airlines with good

Southwest Airlines Co. s successful hedge strategy in the 2000s culminated in a $1.3 billion

Iago is able to get the trust of everyone around him, and to appear honest. He is also driven to

From the first scene of the play to the last, Iago is able to be trusted by everyone. This is one of the

The major objective of the innovation is to target and address the sluggish and superfluous
technique of the existing feature film production industry and its recording process. The plan
suggests methods reduce the time spent in the recording of the images during the process of
filming a feature film production. The innovation will be made using multiple cameras recording
through new technologies in advanced camera resolution and camera size (Steyn, 2013). The scope
of the problem lies for the whole feature film industry as this slow process of filming affects the

If proper resolution cameras are not used while shooting a video than the quality of picture
degrades and it may not be possible to take a shot in a single instance. With the use of multiple
high resolution cameras with greater size in megapixels, the capturing of video will be easy.
This innovation will include placing the cameras at different angles and then videoing the film.
When different cameras of high resolution and big size picture will be placed at different angles,
the video will be made from all possible angles (Mansurov, 2015). Thus, no more retakes will be
required in shooting the film. This will make the process of filming a movie faster and will reduce
the overall cost and time of film production. Thus, the slower and tedious process of a film
production will improve to a better and faster process. By reducing the cost of production this
innovation will meet the needs of all the stakeholders involved in it. Further, the filming industry
studios which are the organizations for developing a film will get a positive hike in profits. This
will fulfill their need of earning more and more profit in their business. In addition to reducing the
cost, the theater owners will get the advantage of reducing the cost of renting the motion pictures

Health In Latin America Essay
Developing countries in Latin America have made important strides in the areas of education,
modernization, and most importantly health care. However, these budding nations are still in the
process of making health care affordable and accessible to all citizens. In some countries, health
care has become a basic human right. Further, policy makers and state governments play a pivotal
role in what health care resources they dole out, how such resources should be distributed, and to
whom the resources will accessible. Precisely, then, health care in Latin America is so contentious
marginalized populations remain underserved and excluded from essential health care resources

Luckly, teaming up with service providers, two methods for tracing files are being enforced. The
most common tracking method for file sharing is heading probing. Header probing involves an
active engine on the network to take a look at the file headers for any files being transferred.
Since most files are transmitted with the sole intention to load web pages and pictures, the
engine is fixed to only focus on the headers of files over a certain size. The header is then
scanned for suspected keywords that are often provided by a content provider. The content
provider or associated content provider protection agency therefore will give a keyword such as
a specific song title they can hunt for. If the scanner catches one of those keywords, an alert is
given to the person in charge of monitoring the content. From the alert, they are able to track the
user. The second most widely used tracking method is most commonly known as traffic logging.
Traffic logging monitors the IP activity of every upload and download on a particular server.
This means that any time one is downloading or uploading a file to popular or unpopular file

Intramuscular Injections
For a medication to be delivered in a safe and appropriate manner, nurses must be able to identify

Evidence suggests that there are less risks associated to the Ventrogluteal region compared to
other IM sites on the body. With the sciatic nerve and multiple major blood and nerve vessels
being present in the dorsogluteal muscle, the risk of these vessels getting damaged is at increased
risk (Ogsten Tuck, 2014). Historically nurses have administered IM injections into the
Dorsogluteal site, or as it is better known as the upper outer quadrant. This site poses an increased
quantity of unacceptable risks linked to injury s suffered as a result of a harmful injection
(Zimmermann, 2010). Therefore the Ventrogluteal muscle should be used wherever possible. This
muscle boasts the largest thickness relating to muscle in the gluteal region. Unlike the Dorsogluteal
muscle, the Ventrogluteal lacks major blood and nerve vessel, consequently reducing the risk of
complications of injury. This muscle is also able to absorb larger volumes of substances at a faster
rate (Government of Western Australia, 2014). In relation to Mrs Jones s case, the best possible
muscle to give an intramuscular injection to would be the Ventrogluteal muscle. The risk associated

How Did Shakespeare Influence Romeo And Juliet
William Shakespeare, a prosperous Renaissance man, is known as the greatest playwright in
English literature. He was born on April 23, 1564 in a small town called Stratford upon Avon,
Warwickshire, England to John and Mary Arden Shakespeare (Waller). William started his writing
during the time period where individuality and freedom of choice were put emphasis on. This
lifestyle greatly influenced a vast majority of his works and his contributions to the English
language. Shakespeare has written over thirty seven plays, his most famous being Romeo and
Juliet. He was a master of dramatic language and played with words and their meanings in a way
that could rarely be forgotten, once heard or read. Shakespeare attended class at King s New
School, where he learned several languages including Latin, Greek, French, and Italian. Throughout
the years, Shakespeare encountered many famous authors such as Aesop, Caesar, Cicero, Virgil,
etc. In school, he studied logic, rhetoric, grammar, and the concepts of composition and oratory,

There are a variety of themes in this play, one of the most important being passion. In Romeo and
Juliet, the theme of passion is represented in various situations throughout the play. Passion is
described as a strong and uncontrollable emotion. There are two types of passion expressed in this
play, passionate hatred and passionate affection. Romeo and Juliet are hopeless teenage romantics
that are so passionate for each other, it turns out to be dangerous. On the other hand, the disputes
between the Capulets and the Montagues portray a passion full of loathing and hatred. The play,

The Theory Of The Mind Body Dualism
RenГ© Descartes was a French mathematician, scientist, and philosopher of the 16th Century, who,
according to the Encyclopedia Britannica, was one of the first to abandon scholastic
Aristotelianism and created the first version of the modern mind body dualism or emotion
(Encyclopedia Britannica). Born on March 31, 1596, he was dubbed as the Father of Modern
Philosophy. His theory on the mindbody dualism, also known as Cartesian Dualism, created a stem
of the modern problem of the relationship between the mind and body. He created the early version
to further explain the interaction of the mind and body, to create a firm foundation that can be
explained through science and to prove the existence and goodness of God, and how the soulcould
be immortal.
Along with that, he mentioned that the mind is different from the body. One of the basic thesis of
his Cartesian Dualism is that a mental substance cannot have a physical form, and that said physical
form cannot have experiences , for the mind and body cannot function without the other (Chin Tai
Kim 337). In his Cartesian Dualism, RenГ© Descartes believes that every human being possesses
a body and mind (Nath 1). Though, there are some philosophers who might have agreed, disagreed
or criticized about his theory.
Philosophers such as Gilbert Ryle, critiqued about the Descartes Cartesian Dualism, for he believes
that the principle of Descartes Dualism theory is not valid enough and full of problems. He called

Summary Of David Von Drehle s Triangle
Triangle, a novel written by David Von Drehle, is about the working conditions that caused the
deadliest workplace disaster in New York history [for ninety years to come] (Drehle 3). It
occurred in the early 1930 s, and about the events that led to protests for better conditions so that
the incident that happened on March 25, 1911, in the Triangle Waist building, would not be
replicated. Due to the inadequate working conditions, some buildings experienced disasters
because [The] workplace safety was scarcely regulated, and workers compensation was considered
newfangled or even socialist (Drehle 3). Most who lost their lives that unfaithful day at the Triangle

However, they still had to take their work home with them to complete the required amount of
finished product to keep their job. They would be paid little compared to what the company

products during their long work hours, seeing it as they were searched at the end of each work
day for any fabric they might have taken with them, as that was seen as stealing, ... he passed a
crowd of workers lined up at a thin wooden partition that screened the Greene Street exit from the
main factory floor. The partition was designed in such a way that only one employee could pass

left (Drehle 119). This was one of the things that led to the fire being as disastrous as it was.
Production workers were also subject to unfair things that the employers decided to do to the
employees. In the Triangle fire, a young man grabbed the [door]knob, twisted it, pulled it,
pushed it in vain. Oh, he cried, the door is locked! The door is locked! (Drehle 141). To make
matters worse, not only were they treated bad during work hours, they had poor conditions and

shamed if they were not promptly on time. (Drehle 215). Despite all the bad and poor things

The Importance Of A Carbohydrate And Its Effect On Human Body
Introduction A carbohydrate is consumed and used in our bodies by breaking it down, and
making glucose. Glucose is a sugar that our body uses to give us energy. Carbohydrates generally
provide us with fiber, vitamins and minerals. There are two kinds of carbohydrates: simple and
complex. We get our simple carbohydrates from foods such as milk, lactose products, fruit, and
sugar. Complex carbohydrates, on the other hand, come from starches like cereal, bread, beans,
potatoes, and starchy vegetables. The benedict test is used to indicate the reducing property of
sugars. All simple sugars (glucose) are reducing sugars. They will react with a blue liquid called
Benedict s solution to give a brick red color (positive). We can use this reaction to find out if a
food or other substance contains a reducing sugar. The standard used for reducing sugar was
glucose, and the control group was water. Polysaccharides are relatively complex carbohydrates.
They are polymers made up of many monosaccharides joined together by glycoside bonds. They
are therefore very large, often branched, macromolecules. They tend to be amorphous, insoluble in
water, and have no sweet taste. Starches are glucose polymers in which glucopyranose units are
bonded by alpha linkages. It is made up of a mixture of Amylose and Amylopectin. Amylose
consists of a linear chain of several hundred glucose molecules and Amylopectin is a branched
molecule made of several thousand glucose units. Glycogen is a

Essay on Gossip and Deceit in Much Ado About Nothing
Gossip and Deceit in Much Ado About Nothing Much Ado About Nothing is primarily a play
about gossip. Indeed, the title means a big fuss about a trifle, and by the end, this is exactly what
happens. All accusations will come to nothing, causing the play to end the same way as if they
never occurred at all. Shakespeare brilliantly plays on the meanings of nothing throughout this play.
The word nothing would actually have been pronounced noting in his time. It can mean worthless, a
person of little worth, or also mean everything, in the sense that much ado is made about everything
(Smith). Much of the plot is moved along by characters eavesdropping on a conversation and either

When the prince congratulates Claudio upon Hero s father s approval to marry him he begins to
be confused. In fact, it was the Prince wooing Hero for Claudio at the masked ball. Don John lied
to Claudio to create a disturbance at the ball. Don John s malevolent plan to ruin Claudio and Hero
s wedding was to take effect the night before they were to wed. The malicious Don John
constructed, or rather misconstructed, the scheme that insinuated Claudio s belief in Hero s
faithlessness. It is Don John who reports to Claudio and Don Pedro that Hero is having an affair,
and he who stage manages an elaborate charade featuring his own henchman Borachio and an
unwitting stand in for Hero to lend credence to this fiction. Perhaps the most significant thing to be
noted in connection with this deception is that the spectator does not witness the crucial scene in
which Claudio overhears the counterfeit exchanges between Margaret and Borachio that persuade
him of Hero s guilt. We learn of this episode only at second hand, when Borachio boasts of his
exploit (Lucking). The spectator of the play watches the Watchman watching Borachio while the
latter narrates what he calls his tale relating how Claudio was inveigled into watching an artificial
scene enacting Don John s fiction. Once again, what lies at the heart of this convoluted recursive
machinery is a nothing (a nocturnal tryst between Hero and

Reflection Of The Movie Remember The Titans
The movie I selected was Remember The Titans (2000). The movie was about leadership,
teamwork, and overcoming obstacles. Remember The Titans took place in Alexandria, Virginia
Where one high school became integrated with blacks and whites forming T.C. Williams High
school. The football team at the school for the first time had blacks and whites doing the same
sport together. The school board fired Coach Yoast from being head coach and hired a new head
coach named Coach Boone who was African American. This led to problems with white
families since they did not want a black coaching their kids and it caused problems for Coach
Boone. However, after an incident with the white football players Coach Boone compromised
with Coach Yoast allowing him to be the defensive coordinator in hopes of creating some peace
in the tense time. As the summer came to an end football camp began. At football camp the
audiences experiences the problems the black football players had with chemistry because of
racism and hatred from their white teammates. However in the end of camp the team became
brothers and does not see a person by their skin but what s on the inside. The boys were ready for
football yet when they started school the Titans had to face the hardships of school and realize not
everyone at school was as optimistic as they were which lead to more turmoil inside the team due
to racism. Thankfully as time went on their bond grew and the team went on to become undefeated
as well as win the state championship. The main characters in Remember The Titans were Coach
Boone, Coach Yoast, Gerry Bertier, and Julius Campbell. Coach Boone was the head coach for the
Titans, Coach Yoast was the ex head coach and was the defensive coordinator for the Titans, Gerry
Bertier was the All American on the team and was the main white football player throughout the
movie, and Julius Campbell was the main black football player on the Titans. All of these
characters showed leadershipthroughout the movie. Coach Boone showed his leadership by forcing
others to do what he wants no matter the cost. Multiple times throughout the movie the audience
watches Coach Boone ordering players to run, redo a play, burpees and other commands. Coach

Natural Disasters In Louisiana
The damage done by the recent floods in Louisiana has completely adulterated the lives and homes
of the residents.
To prepare for any natural disaster coming to your area one must use ambidextrous or versatile

Not immediately coming to rescue a person trapped under a building after an earthquake will only
augment their chances of death.
The survivors of any natural disaster will be bereft of their livelihood and basic necessities.
The police may deploy squadrons of policemen to help aid recovery and protection efforts after a

Comparing Kubrick s Film And Burgess Essay
A difference and slight similarity between Kubrick s Film and Burgess novella is the narration.
In both, Alex is the narrator and uses Nadsat vocabulary to describe his acts of violence, however,
the film narrative is perceived as less powerful as the novella. In the book, Alex s narration
accentuates his cruelty, pleasure, and lack of remorse. His pleasure is highlighted in the book
displaying his dark thoughts, making the novella A Clockwork Orangeappear to be a more
grotesque piece in language than the film. This is evident in an act of violence, the raping of two
ten year old girls. In the film, Alexhas what appears to be consensual sex with two women around or
a few youngers than himself, that the met in a record store. In the novel, he meets two ten year old
girls instead and purchases them some food in addition. He then convinces them to come with him
where they become intoxicated and he rapes them. Alex in the novella narrates the aftermath,
They looked like they had been in some big bitva, as indeed they had, and were all bruised and
pouty. Well, if they would not go to school they would still have their education. And education
they had had. They were creeching and going ow ow ow as they put their platties on, and they
were like punchipunching me with their teeny fists as I lay there dirty and nagoy and fair shagged
and fagged on the bed. (36)
Whereas the film, nothing but the scene of Alex and the two young women having sex is shown.

What Causes Obesity Is The Relationship Of Energy Intake...
The most rudimentary explanation for what causes obesity is the relationship of energy intake
and expenditure and its effect on energy balance. If energy intake is greater than energy
expenditure, weight gain will occur. In contrast, energy expenditure in excess of energy intake
will result in weight loss ( Dietz Gortmaker, 2001). However, Obesity is a complex disease that
involves interactions between genetics, regulation of energy balance, and strong environmental
influences such as increased caloric intake and decreased physical activity in today s modern
society. The genetic approach both in animal models and in humans has allowed immense progress
in the understanding of body weight regulation. Monogenic forms of obesity in humans have been
characterized and result from mutations in genes involved in the central pathways of food intake
regulation. However, these cases are extremely rare and generally obesity must be considered as a
complex polygenic disease involving interactions between multiple genes and the environment
(Clement Ferre, 2003) Genetics There are several genetic factors that contribute to an individual s
predisposition towards obesity in a common environment. Several investigators have provided
evidence for an association between candidate genes and obesity related phenotypes. Currently,
there are greater than 600 genes, markers and chromosomal regions linked to obesity related
phenotypes (PГ©russe et al., 2005). In a large

Sarah Elshater s The Problem Of The Essential Indexical
Indexicals are important distinguishers of context within sentences. They are expressions that
can be uttered by multiple speakers, and have a different meaning or implication each time it is
spoken. For me to say I am Sarah Elshater has one meaning, for my older brother to say I am
Sarah Elshater has a completely separate meaning and would likely cause concern within my
family should he say such a thing. In The Problem of the Essential Indexical by John Perry, the
notion of locating beliefs is mentioned as an essential part of indexicals, as indexicals allow the
speaker s beliefto be expressed. On page 5, Perry writes I shall use the term locating beliefs to refer
to one s beliefs about where one is, when it is, and who one is (Perry, The Problem of the Essential
Indexical).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I have countless documented proof that I am, in fact, Sarah Elshater, my utterance of the
sentence simply means that I know my name, and I am declaring my knowledge. For my brother to
say that sentence, he could have a sarcastic or mocking tone, which could indicate that he is
joking. Or, he could be genuine with his declaration, where he actually believes he is Sarah
Elshater, in which case we would take him to the hospital to have his brain checked out. When it
comes to indexicals, content is key to deciphering context, and without content, it can become
difficult to understand a person s intent. In this paper, I will outline Perry s problem of the
essential indexical, as well as outline his solution for this problem. In doing this, I will also make
arguments for Perry s arguments about the essential

Analysis Of Lewis And The World Of Wonder
C.S. Lewis and the World of Wonder The Story Behind The Chronicles of Narnia Raindrops
splashed against the glass; but Jack stared past them, far beyond to the Green Hills. So beautiful.
So unreachable. Jack was born in Ireland in 1898, before most people had cars. They had no
televisions and no radios. The world was big and wonderful and mysterious. Jack s real name
was Clive Staples Lewis, but he didn t like that name. Would you? He picked the name Jack. He
made everyone call him Jack. If someone called him Clive, he would not answer. When Jack
was six, his family moved. The New House was huge, with empty rooms, long hallways, and
dusty attics. Imagine exploring a house like that. Jack also liked exploring books. His mother
and father loved to read, and they saved all their books. They filled the New House with books
books in the study, in bedrooms, and on the stair landing, books in the attic piled up to Jack s
shoulders. Oh, the splendid hours he spent reading! On rainy afternoons these books transported
him to different times and different worlds. Jack made up his own country called Animal Land.
The animals wore clothes and talked and ruled the land. Jack s older brother Warnie wrote stories
about India with trains and steamships. Jack and Warnie combined their countries into one country
called Boxen. They wrote about Boxen together. Then Warnie left for a boarding school in
England. One hundred years ago, when Jack was a boy, many parents did not

Analysis of The Wasteland by T.S. Eliot Essay
Analysis of The Wasteland by T.S. Eliot
Q5 Much of what Eliot writes about is harsh and bleak, but he writes about it in a way that is often
beautiful . Comment fully on both parts of this assertion.
Most first time readers of Eliot s work would, probably, agree that his poems read as bleak and
depressing. They would also say that many of his poems portray society as having a terminal
illness, but when we look deeper you can see that amid the anguish not all is lost and there is hope
to be found among the ruins. The Wasteland , is an amalgamation of fragmented images that are
disturbing and, yet, at times beautifully poetic. The juxtaposition of the ugly landscape and the
lyricism with which it is conveyed lend the poem an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This reinforces Eliot s claim that, Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood . The
theme s that run throughout The Wasteland , such as sterility, isolation and death, are applicable to
both the landscapes and the characters. When drawn together, it is these themes that give the poem
structure and strength, and the use of myth mingled with historic, anthropological, religious and
metaphysical images reinforce its universal quality.
In part one The Burial of the dead , Eliot opens with a scene of isolation and desolation. April is
the cruellest month #8230; which is an inversion of what spring represents, this being new life
and hope. It is seen here as cruel because, for Marie, it stirs memories, which are no longer there
and have led nowhere. He follows this image of isolation with an image of togetherness, Winter
kept us warm, covering Earth in forgetful snow #8230; She recalls being free in the mountains,
but freedom involves taking risks and she hesitates and goes south in the winter . Marie s
memories portray the shallowness of the aristocracy and in many ways we are reminded of the
ladies in Prufrock who come and go talking of Michael Angelo . There talking leads nowhere and
so by implication their lives are meaningless and dead, as dead as the wasteland.
The next stanza shifts to images of the dead land with clutching branches and roots. We can see

Formula 1 Constructor The resources, capabilities and attributes that are required for the success in Formula One (F1) can be looked on a number of dimensions taking into consideration the unique and fast paced context of Formula One. F1 is a highly competitive industry and based in a rapidly changing environment, which has been defined by Porter s five forces (Appendix One). Key resources within F1 are both tangible and intangible and can be considered under the following broad categories: Physical Resources: The car and its components such as engines and chassis are vital resources but the technological advancement determines its ability to win races. Though such advantageous technological strategic capabilities have been required by constructors for competitive advantage, they have also become been a pivotal factor for the introduction of increased legislation designed to reduce uncertainty and increase competition, such as the introduction of generic tyres. The factors responsible for the success of the teams in their respective periods of dominance can be considered through analysis of the organisations core competencies, a form of competitive advantage which is usually a result of collective learning processes and are manifested in business and activities and processes. The core competencies are those unique capabilities, which usually span over multiple products or markets. (Hafeez 2002). Ferrari s dominance in the mid 1970 s Much of Ferrari s success during the period of the mid 1970 s can be attributed to the ability to build their race cars at the Maranello site without the need to outsource for component parts. This created centralisation of knowledge and expertise, thus the ability to transfer knowledge between departments without leakage. When Ferrari sold 40% of the company to Fiat, in 1969, providing huge cash injection thus acquiring the Fiorano test track allowing them to test the change in any aspect of the car on the track and observe real time results. • 5. Reaction Paper About Stress Stress is how the brain and body respond to any change that requires an adjustment or response. Throughout our lives we have been told by our friends and family that we need to minimize our stress and manage it before it gets too out of hand. This leads to us looking at stress as a terrible thing that will ruin our lives. Everyone is affected by stressand it is something that is a part of our daily lives. The key thing to remember is that stress is not always a bad thing. It has been proven that looking at stress as a good thing rather than a bad thing can actually make you stress less. There are two main types of stress. Eustress, which is the good stress, and distress which is the bad stress. Dealing with the eustress is what most people will think is relatively easy as you don t have to do anything about it and don t have to get rid of it., it s the distress that people tend to have issues controlling. Being stressed for a long period of time can lead to a number of different problems such as anxiety. It is important to recognize that you are stressed, figure out exactly what is stressing you out, and then act according to what your stressor is. In order to minimize or even get rid of your stress and anxiety, you will need to know the symptoms, common stressors, and when, where, and how to seek professional help. Layers Of The Atmosphere- Bri Caamano Atmosphere Paper Layers of The Atmosphere Bri Caamano Our atmosphere on Earth has many different layer which protect us from the harmful elements in space. Our atmosphere is divided into five layers. The troposphere is the first layer closest to earth. In this layer weather occurs, this is also the closest layer to us. The second layer would be the stratosphere. The stratosphere is one of the most stable layers. Due to the stability of this layer jets and aircrafts fly within this area. The mesosphere can drop down to nearly 100В° C which is equal to ~200В° F. This is the coldest layer in the atmosphere. The thermosphere is final thermally definitive layer of the atmosphere. In this layer, temperatures can reach up to up to 725В° 1, or 225В° C. The thermosphere can be divided on the basis of chemistry. The lower thermosphere, the ionosphere extends from roughly 80 kilometers, or 50 miles, too somewhere around 300 to 600 kilometers out. After the ionosphere comes the exosphere. The exosphere is the second outer layer of the thermosphere. It lies beyond about 500 1,000 kilometers and is defined by an increasing hydrogen and helium level. This is because the oxygen and nitrogen that control the lower atmosphere have been broken into ions in the ionosphere. The layer that secedes from the exosphere is the homosphere. The homosphere is the portion of the lower atmosphere with almost no Ionization. Finally, the heterosphere, the area in which you get varying mixes of gas molecules and ions, is the last layer in the thermal structure of our atmosphere. It reaches heights between 80 and 10,000 kilometers. These layers show the thermal structure of our atmosphere. • 7. How Does Henry Fleming Fantasize In The Red Badge Of Courage A War of Wounds War, a terrifying and dangerous word in today s society; most are fought over oil and terrorism in foreign countries half a world away. However, in the 1860 s Americans are fighting a civil war for their beliefs, and more importantly, glory. At least, that is what Henry Fleming fantasizes when he gets ready for his first battle in The Red Badge of Courage(Published by Bantam Classics, copyright 2004). The protagonist soon realizes the danger he has placed himself into after getting bombarded with cannonballs and bullets. He struggles to maintain his pride after running away from the unnamed battlefield and faking an injury. Author Stephen Crane illustrates wounds as either a heroic medal of honor or a disgusting mark... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After realizing the mistake he made, Henry makes his way to the battlefield where he asks a fellow soldier why they are losing. The soldier hits Fleming in the head with the butt of his rifle and knocks him unconscious. He later awakens and clumsily makes his way back to his regiment camp. When the guards ask him how he has gotten injured the private replies that he was shot in the head. The narrator explains, Gee, it must hurt like thunder? he said. The youth leaned heavily upon his friend. Yes, it hurts hurts a good deal, he replied. There was a faltering in his voice. (74). Shame is observed in Henry s voice when he takes a pause in his speech; the falter and words hurts a good deal shows how Private Fleming feels guilty for lying about his injury, but finds it necessary in order not no be a disgrace to the army. Deception and lies are abundant in most wars, and even though Union Soldiers are supposed to be on the same side, lying occurs almost everywhere. Furthermore, most of the lies pertain to if the injury is real or superficial. Wounds can represent shame and glory, but if a soldier experiences to many wounds they can turn into a disgusting ... • 8. The Pros and Cons of DNA Profiling Essay The Positive And Negative Effects of DNA Profiling Genetic engineering has developed and blossomed at a frightening rate in the last decade. Originating as merely an area of interest for scientists, genetic engineering has now become an area of which all people should be somewhat knowledgeable. DNA profiling has many uses, both positive and negative, in our society. Aside from its usefulness in many legal investigations, DNA profiling can be used in the workplace to discriminate against employees whose profiles could pose a financial risk. For example, genetic technology can and has been used to determine the capacity of a person to contract certain diseases, such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lawyers need to increase their scientific knowledge and keep up with ongoing research in order to competently question and understand scientific evidence put forth. But these do not represent the only possible downfalls of DNA profiling in criminology. The involuntary seizure of one s blood or hair undermines the constitutional rights guaranteed to all citizens by the Fourth Amendment (protection from unreasonable searches and seizures). Nevertheless, many argue that a DNA sample taken from a suspect could lead to an indictment or release of the individual and, thus, warrants an exception from the Fourth Amendment. Besides, one could make a plausible argument that, once held in custody, the seizure of a person s strand of hair does not violate a suspect s Fourth Amendment rights or rights of privacy because the hair is visible. However, the use of DNA profiling does not end in criminal investigations. DNA testing has ventured out of the courtroom in an effort to show a genetic link between race and violent tendencies. If successful, this link will do nothing but justify prejudice attitudes toward minorities, particularly the black race. Furthermore, such biological approaches towards criminality do not take into account sociological factors, such as poverty, and would inevitably lead to the practice of controlling ... • 9. Snakes are Infected with Ophidian Paramyxovirus Virus Ophidian paramyxovirus is a virus that affects snakes, particularly in the family Viperidae; it compromises the immune system, which can lead to mortality through secondary bacterial infections. This negative sense, single stranded RNA virus infects the respiratory system and can be transmitted through feces, respiratory tract secretions, fomites, or vectors such as mites; as such, in captivity, good husbandry practices are critical to prevent transmission of this disease. Paramyxovirus is a viral pathogen. The natural host and origin for this virus is unknown, but it is possible that it is not a viperid (5). The first reported outbreak of paramyxovirus in snakes was in a group of Brazilian lancehead vipers in a serpentarium in Switzerland (1). These vipers were originally from Brazil, so it is likely that the origin of the virus is found in Brazil (5). The virus itself is an RNAvirus consisting of a filamentous particle enveloped in a spiked membrane, and can be between 140 and 321 nanometers in diameter. The virus replicates at an optimal temperature of 30В°C, so the disease is a particular concern in colder seasons (3). This virus is easily transmitted between individuals, particularly when they are housed close to each other. It is most often transmitted through respiratory secretions (2). It can also be transmitted through aerosols, such as sputum, and oral and cloacal secretions. The virus may persist in water and may be spread through feces. It can also be ... Essay about Seal Hunting in Atlantic Canada The annual hunt of harp seals (Pagophilus groenlandicus) in Atlantic Canada is contested at the start of nearly every season, with celebrities, politicians, and the public actively weighing in on the matter. Within all of the dialogue and debate, there can be a lot of bias and misrepresentation of facts advocating for or against the seal hunt. Thus, the true sustainable aspects of the industry are drowned out and lost due to the sheer amount of controversy surrounding the issue. Sustainability entails meeting the needs of today without sacrificing the needs of the future ( Sustainable Development 1). Contemporary dishes like seal flipper pie have also contributed to the cultural identity of Newfoundland society. As a result of these strong cultural ties, commercial and subsistence sealing continues to exist through legal policy by demand from both government and society. Economic benefits gained from the seal hunt include an increase in trading relationships for Canada and the stimulation of the provincial economy of Newfoundland and Labrador. As reported by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, the total landed value of the seal harvest for 2006 was $34.3 million dollars ( Market 1). This figure represents a historic high, when market prices per pelt were favourable. Regardless, the money brought in from seal hunting is said to have a trickle down effect on other sectors of the economy ( Market 1). Canada has historically been the leading exporter of seal products in the global marketplace, and had exported over $70 million in product between 2005 and 2011 ( Market 1) Nationally, the seal hunt has enabled Canada to forge new trading relationships in the international community, as evidenced by a 2011 deal between Canada and China. • 12. Total Government Control In George Orwell s 1984 The novel 1984, written by George Orwell, was more than an insight into what the future would hold for our current society. It was a pure example of how a government set its foundation on facilitating corruption, falsification of records, and even infringing on the rights of the people they govern. In more ways than one, the book communicates these truths by cultivating small instances that will ultimately develop a spiderweb of plots that may or may not be relevant to the personal interpretation of the book. The aspect of this proposal is to not only show that total government control will hinder a society but to give a true understanding of the balance between two governed forces. He was one of the first of the Hudson River Artist s to paint beyond New York and see the unexplored west. Bierstadt s paintings focused more upon the sublime in nature. His painting titled Indian Summer Hudson River was completed in 1861. It is an oil on canvas painting, which measures twenty four inches in height by forty one inches wide. One looks out across a secluded section of the Hudson River. It is late afternoon, and the sun is beginning its decent. Implied line is used to draw the viewer s eyes to the cattle which are crossing in the sun s reflection upon the river, then up toward the sun where it guides one s eyes around the outsides of the painting. Bierstadt uses both a restricted palette and analogous color scheme of reds oranges and yellows, which differ in their levels of intensity, thus giving a sense of time to the artwork. By use of these colors the viewer can determine the time of the year in the painting is fall, and the time of the day could be perceived to be early morning or late afternoon. While one is unable to touch this painting to determine its physical texture, what one cannot help but be impressed with is the painting s visual texture. Bierstadt use of texture helps to aid in the illusion of the painting s three dimensional quality. He achieves texture with the illusion of light, through color choice, and in suggested motion of the water and leaves through repetition and patterns. The most dominant element in this painting would be the sense of space it exhibits. Bierstadt achieves this again through the use of implied line in the trees which move upward toward the sky and down into the water. In continuing the analysis of Bierstadt s painting, one must also explore the principles of art in his painting and what elements create them. The emphasis or focal point of Bierstadt s Indian Summer is undoubtedly the sun. The sun is painted with such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Imagine living in a world where people were considerate of others. Imagine living in a world where everyone had the same rights and privileges. The Framers took a step at achieving this world with the passage of the 14th amendment. The intent of the 14th amendment was to prevent state governments from denying African Americans in the U.S. from their citizenship. At the time Africans were unable to attain citizenship because of their skin color. The Framer s objective in formulating the 14th amendment was to grant citizenship to everyone born in the U.S., regardless of skin color. The 14th amendment expanded the protection of civil rights to all citizens in America. Barron V. Baltimore (1833) is a significant case in history because it concluded that the fundamental rights provided by the Bill of Rights were not guaranteed by the state. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Baltimore, concluding hat the 5th amendment was limited and should be followed by the Federal government. Through this case, Supreme Court Justice John Marshall declared that the Bill of Rights applied to the federal government, not including the states. Indeed, he advises that Athens was a much more developed powerhouse, where today s democracy initiated, whereby Sparta was, conversely, a fierce warmongering state where only male warriors participated in politics. However, Brand also acknowledges elements of democracyin both city states. In the case of Sparta, the ecclesia , or the apella were the eligible voting public (Larkin, n.d.) Only Spartan free men of adulthood were able to vote, and adulthood was granted on the Spartan s 30th birthday. Additionally, women, immigrants and unequals such as Helots were ineligible to vote (Brand, 2010.) In this instance we see the basic semblance of a voting public, but, as Brand (2010) states, whilst the apella met once a month to discuss issues, their scope of influence was severely limited. The Spartan political model was a hierarchy of two kings (historically from two ancient ruling families) whose balance was kept in check by three (later) five Ephors who were elected annually, and who kept the kings power at a moderate level (Brand, 2010.) Beneath the Ephors were the Gerousia . According to Larkin (n.d.), It consisted of 28 Gerontes (Senators... elders over the age of 60) plus two kings. Another key to HIPEC treatment is the need to be able to remove all of the visible cancer and then administer the chemotherapy. If the disease is too extensive then HIPEC may not be possible. HIPEC enables us to administer a high concentration of chemotherapy right where the cancer cells live, rather than circulate it all around the body, Dr. Labow said. Change in the cultural or social attitude has greatest impact on architecture. Thus it would be generic to conclude that the role of culture in promoting an architectural style or era is an essential part of its existence. Roemer van Toorn1 states that Matters concerning architecture are no longer about being popular but about creating the popular. But the main idea to the proposal suggests that Contemporary architecture has already been absorbed by the popular. It is now a part of the scene, a part of what we call popular culture. The popular culture is more defined by what is displayed in mass medias such as the MTV or Lifestyle magazines or Daily newspapers. Popular culture is entangled with consumer culture2, basically suggesting that popular is what is popularly consumed or accepted. And as architecture has crossed the threshold to the field of mass media and popular consumption, it had indeed gone pop! that being a part of popular culture. The Minimalism3 and Pop Art both art movements came up about the same time. Both these movements posed a question on art s autonomy as represented by the institutionalization of abstract painting. Moreover, both proposed that the art escaped the privilege of the unique artistic object and its corresponding museum context. The movement had different approaches though. Minimalist created objects that would focus the attention on the industrialization of manufacture and on the spatial experience. While, pop art reconnected to the outside world of popular culture and mass consumption. When Robert Venturi4 proposed that architecture can be drawn from popular visual culture of the contemporary urban landscape, he was unaware of the potential of the happenings of today. In fact later he was accused by detractors of using the idea of popular culture to reinforce architecture s position at the high end of cultural spectrum. The most common tracking method for file sharing is heading probing. Header probing involves an active engine on the network to take a look at the file headers for any files being transferred. Since most files are transmitted with the sole intention to load web pages and pictures, the engine is fixed to only focus on the headers of files over a certain size. The header is then scanned for suspected keywords that are often provided by a content provider. The content provider or associated content provider protection agency therefore will give a keyword such as a specific song title they can hunt for. If the scanner catches one of those keywords, an alert is given to the person in charge of monitoring the content. From the alert, they are able to track the user. With the sciatic nerve and multiple major blood and nerve vessels being present in the dorsogluteal muscle, the risk of these vessels getting damaged is at increased risk (Ogsten Tuck, 2014). Historically nurses have administered IM injections into the Dorsogluteal site, or as it is better known as the upper outer quadrant. This site poses an increased quantity of unacceptable risks linked to injury s suffered as a result of a harmful injection (Zimmermann, 2010). The Theory Of The Mind Body Dualism RenГ© Descartes was a French mathematician, scientist, and philosopher of the 16th Century, who, according to the Encyclopedia Britannica, was one of the first to abandon scholastic Aristotelianism and created the first version of the modern mind body dualism or emotion (Encyclopedia Britannica). Born on March 31, 1596, he was dubbed as the Father of Modern Philosophy. His theory on the mindbody dualism, also known as Cartesian Dualism, created a stem of the modern problem of the relationship between the mind and body. He created the early version to further explain the interaction of the mind and body, to create a firm foundation that can be explained through science and to prove the existence and goodness of God, and how the soulcould be immortal. Along with that, he mentioned that the mind is different from the body. One of the basic thesis of his Cartesian Dualism is that a mental substance cannot have a physical form, and that said physical form cannot have experiences , for the mind and body cannot function without the other (Chin Tai Kim 337). In his Cartesian Dualism, RenГ© Descartes believes that every human being possesses a body and mind (Nath 1). • 44. The Importance Of A Carbohydrate And Its Effect On Human Body Introduction A carbohydrate is consumed and used in our bodies by breaking it down, and making glucose. Glucose is a sugar that our body uses to give us energy. Carbohydrates generally provide us with fiber, vitamins and minerals. There are two kinds of carbohydrates: simple and complex. We get our simple carbohydrates from foods such as milk, lactose products, fruit, and sugar. Complex carbohydrates, on the other hand, come from starches like cereal, bread, beans, potatoes, and starchy vegetables. The benedict test is used to indicate the reducing property of sugars. All simple sugars (glucose) are reducing sugars. They will react with a blue liquid called Benedict s solution to give a brick red color (positive). We can use this reaction to find out if a food or other substance contains a reducing sugar. The standard used for reducing sugar was glucose, and the control group was water. Polysaccharides are relatively complex carbohydrates. They are polymers made up of many monosaccharides joined together by glycoside bonds. They are therefore very large, often branched, macromolecules. They tend to be amorphous, insoluble in water, and have no sweet taste. Starches are glucose polymers in which glucopyranose units are bonded by alpha linkages. It is made up of a mixture of Amylose and Amylopectin. The football team at the school for the first time had blacks and whites doing the same sport together. The school board fired Coach Yoast from being head coach and hired a new head coach named Coach Boone who was African American. This led to problems with white families since they did not want a black coaching their kids and it caused problems for Coach Boone. However, after an incident with the white football players Coach Boone compromised with Coach Yoast allowing him to be the defensive coordinator in hopes of creating some peace in the tense time. As the summer came to an end football camp began. At football camp the audiences experiences the problems the black football players had with chemistry because of racism and hatred from their white teammates. However in the end of camp the team became brothers and does not see a person by their skin but what s on the inside. The boys were ready for football yet when they started school the Titans had to face the hardships of school and realize not everyone at school was as optimistic as they were which lead to more turmoil inside the team due to racism. The most rudimentary explanation for what causes obesity is the relationship of energy intake and expenditure and its effect on energy balance. If energy intake is greater than energy expenditure, weight gain will occur. In contrast, energy expenditure in excess of energy intake will result in weight loss ( Dietz Gortmaker, 2001). However, Obesity is a complex disease that involves interactions between genetics, regulation of energy balance, and strong environmental influences such as increased caloric intake and decreased physical activity in today s modern society. The genetic approach both in animal models and in humans has allowed immense progress in the understanding of body weight regulation. Monogenic forms of obesity in humans have been characterized and result from mutations in genes involved in the central pathways of food intake regulation. However, these cases are extremely rare and generally obesity must be considered as a complex polygenic disease involving interactions between multiple genes and the environment (Clement Ferre, 2003) Genetics There are several genetic factors that contribute to an individual s predisposition towards obesity in a common environment. Several investigators have provided evidence for an association between candidate genes and obesity related phenotypes. Currently, there are greater than 600 genes, markers and chromosomal regions linked to obesity related phenotypes (PГ©russe et al., 2005). In a large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Sarah Elshater s The Problem Of The Essential Indexical Indexicals are important distinguishers of context within sentences. They are expressions that can be uttered by multiple speakers, and have a different meaning or implication each time it is spoken. For me to say I am Sarah Elshater has one meaning, for my older brother to say I am Sarah Elshater has a completely separate meaning and would likely cause concern within my family should he say such a thing. In The Problem of the Essential Indexical by John Perry, the notion of locating beliefs is mentioned as an essential part of indexicals, as indexicals allow the speaker s beliefto be expressed. On page 5, Perry writes I shall use the term locating beliefs to refer to one s beliefs about where one is, when it is, and who one is (Perry, The Problem of the Essential Indexical).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I have countless documented proof that I am, in fact, Sarah Elshater, my utterance of the sentence simply means that I know my name, and I am declaring my knowledge. For my brother to say that sentence, he could have a sarcastic or mocking tone, which could indicate that he is joking. Or, he could be genuine with his declaration, where he actually believes he is Sarah Elshater, in which case we would take him to the hospital to have his brain checked out. When it comes to indexicals, content is key to deciphering context, and without content, it can become difficult to understand a person s intent. In this paper, I will outline Perry s problem of the essential indexical, as well as outline his solution for this problem. In doing this, I will also make arguments for Perry s arguments about the essential ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Analysis Of Lewis And The World Of Wonder C.S. Lewis and the World of Wonder The Story Behind The Chronicles of Narnia Raindrops splashed against the glass; but Jack stared past them, far beyond to the Green Hills. So beautiful. So unreachable. Jack was born in Ireland in 1898, before most people had cars. They had no televisions and no radios. The world was big and wonderful and mysterious. Jack s real name was Clive Staples Lewis, but he didn t like that name. Would you? He picked the name Jack. He made everyone call him Jack. If someone called him Clive, he would not answer. When Jack was six, his family moved. The New House was huge, with empty rooms, long hallways, and dusty attics. Imagine exploring a house like that. Jack also liked exploring books. His mother and father loved to read, and they saved all their books. They filled the New House with books books in the study, in bedrooms, and on the stair landing, books in the attic piled up to Jack s shoulders. Oh, the splendid hours he spent reading! On rainy afternoons these books transported him to different times and different worlds. Jack made up his own country called Animal Land. The animals wore clothes and talked and ruled the land. Jack s older brother Warnie wrote stories about India with trains and steamships. Jack and Warnie combined their countries into one country called Boxen. They wrote about Boxen together. Then Warnie left for a boarding school in England. One hundred years ago, when Jack was a boy, many parents did not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Analysis of The Wasteland by T.S. Eliot Essay Analysis of The Wasteland by T.S. Eliot Q5 Much of what Eliot writes about is harsh and bleak, but he writes about it in a way that is often beautiful . Comment fully on both parts of this assertion. Most first time readers of Eliot s work would, probably, agree that his poems read as bleak and depressing. They would also say that many of his poems portray society as having a terminal illness, but when we look deeper you can see that amid the anguish not all is lost and there is hope to be found among the ruins. The Wasteland , is an amalgamation of fragmented images that are disturbing and, yet, at times beautifully poetic. The juxtaposition of the ugly landscape and the lyricism with which it is conveyed lend the poem an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This reinforces Eliot s claim that, Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood . The theme s that run throughout The Wasteland , such as sterility, isolation and death, are applicable to both the landscapes and the characters. When drawn together, it is these themes that give the poem structure and strength, and the use of myth mingled with historic, anthropological, religious and metaphysical images reinforce its universal quality. In part one The Burial of the dead , Eliot opens with a scene of isolation and desolation. April is the cruellest month #8230; which is an inversion of what spring represents, this being new life and hope. It is seen here as cruel because, for Marie, it stirs memories, which are no longer there and have led nowhere. He follows this image of isolation with an image of togetherness, Winter kept us warm, covering Earth in forgetful snow #8230; She recalls being free in the mountains, but freedom involves taking risks and she hesitates and goes south in the winter . Marie s memories portray the shallowness of the aristocracy and in many ways we are reminded of the ladies in Prufrock who come and go talking of Michael Angelo . There talking leads nowhere and so by implication their lives are meaningless and dead, as dead as the wasteland. The next stanza shifts to images of the dead land with clutching branches and roots. We can see from this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
