Writing Is An Important Aspect
Essay Writing Essay writing is an important aspect, not just in the life of the average student, but also
every other person in general. This is because they are not only used by to assess the performance of
students, express ideas or develop creativity, but people regularly in their every day life also use them.
For instance, when writing resumes, in publication agencies such as magazines and newspapers,
writing contracts, journals, and for other reasons. There have been several improvements in my
writing process as I have been able to practice and learn more concerning essay writing. This has
helped to improve upon the basic knowledge I had about the subject, as I used to find it stressful when
writing essays. Writing requires certain processes that enable one to create a good and concise essay,
such as, pre writing, organizing, drafting, revising, and editing (Sims, Chan, and Sethuram 374). These
steps are necessary as they help one to generate ideas, plan the essay, make it easy to comprehend, and
also use time wisely. When organizing the essay, it should have a topic sentence or thesis in the
introduction, a body, and then the conclusion followed by salutations if required. With several
improvements in these areas, I have also been able to work on the grammar aspect of the essay,
including spelling, punctuations, and other areas. This helps make the audience or readers easily
understand the essay. With the help of the Foundations of

My Real Life Negotiation Assignment Essay
For my real life negotiation assignment, I went to Auffenberg Pre Owned Center in Belleville. I have
never bought a car before, nor witnessed anyone buy one, so this was an entirely new experience for
me. I chose to negotiate for a car for two reasons. First, I can t negotiate for something more typical
like a raise or lower rent because of my circumstances. Second, I will probably buy a car within the
next few years, so I thought this would be a beneficial experience for me. After negotiating for the car,
I think this experience has helped me improve my negotiation skills by showing me things I do well,
areas I can improve, and tactics the salesman used against me. To prepare for my negotiation, I used a
variety of websites including the dealership s own site, Kelly Blue Book, Carfax, Cars.com, and the
NADA s website to research various automobiles and their respective prices. Once I completed my
research, which took approximately five hours, I went to the dealership within a week. I walked in and
asked to speak to the sales manager Mike Murphy, but he immediately passed me off to one of the
other sales representatives, Matt Townsend. I showed Matt the car I was interested in, a 2013 Chevy
Malibu LT, and he took me on a test drive. When we returned from the test drive, we went to his
cubicle and began negotiating the price of the automobile. He explained the various fees and taxes on
the car the brought the price up to $17,025.82 from the $14,799 for the car alone.

Stanley Chernyshevsky s Eyes-Wide Shut
Chernyshevsky states that the first purpose of art is to reproduce nature and life, and this applies to all
works of art without exception (364). Eyes Wide Shut is a movie that was directed by Stanley Kubrick
in 1999. Additionally, it was his last film. He created a film version of Dream Story, which is a
fictional (Schnitzler). The lead roles are played by Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman and Sydney Pollack.
The time is set up at Christmas in New York. Stanley Kubrick directs a number of successful and
serious films. There is no doubt that Eyes Wide Shut is one of them. (Kubrick). Kubrick uses visual
aesthetics to express his point of view indirectly. Christmas products is used to create a holiday
atmosphere, which is full of consumption. In addition, mask and costume hide the identity and
individuality of people. Finally, the money that Bill, who is male main character and acted by Tom
Cruise spent, shows he is a customer. These three things convey the theme of consuming in Eyes Wild
Shut. People are shopping to prepare for Christmas; therefore, Christmas products are related to
buying and consuming. In the movie, Christmas products are almost everywhere especially the
Christmas tree. The colorful trees contrast sharply with the main tones of the movie, which are blue
and red. Kubrick keeps reminding audiences that it is Christmas. At the end of this movie, Bill and
Alice who is female main character Nicole Kidman are doing Christmas shopping with their daughter
Helena. In the mall, there are a lot of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Decision Between Organic And Conventional Foods
Sales of organic foods have soared in recent years, as more consumers pay attention to where their
food comes from and try to eliminate exposure to chemicals and toxins.
(Walmart2015) Multiple factors such as cost, convenience and health risks can influence a consumer
in the decision between organic and conventional foods. In the past years the media has opened
consumer minds to the risks of conventional foods and resources have been made available to close
the gap in cost and convenience between organic and conventional foods.
In recent years, resources have been created to close the financial gap between organic and
conventional foods, though you might find yourself shopping at different stores or farmers markets.
Most consumers go towards weekly adds in their local grocer clipping coupons and shopping on a
budget that usually led to a cart filled with conventional foods. In recent years that has changed.
Typical stores are now carrying organic options and also advertising sales and new items. Walmart is
trying to make organic food more accessible to its budget conscious shoppers. The nation s largest
retailer is making a bigger bet on the fast growing category, teaming with Wild Oats to sell organic
packaged food priced in line with conventional foods and at least 25 percent less than other organic
brands it carries. The effort by Wal Mart, the world s largest retailer and the largest seller of food in
the United States, could have a ripple effect in the

Essay on Queen Elizabeth’s Treatment of Catholics
Queen Elizabeth s Treatment of Catholics
The reformation of England had been a long drawn out affair dating back to King Henry VIII s Act of
Supremacy in 1534. By the accession of Elizabeth in 1558, many historians believe that she inherited
a country, which was still predominantly Catholic in belief. Although people of South Eastern England
were likely to be influenced by the peoples of Europe, who were experiencing reforms, Doran (1994)
suggests that the number of Protestants accounted for just 14 per cent of the population of Sussex and
less than 10 per cent in Kent. Whether rural lifestyles were largely unaffected by changing religious
doctrine due to a primitive communications network or general disinterest, as long as the laity ... Show

In comparison to Queen Mary s ruthless policy over Protestant subjects, Elizabeth adopted a cautious
if not liberal policy towards Catholicism. The general consensus of many historians is that Elizabeth
did not really care about what her subjects believed as long as they kept their religious views to
themselves. Doran (1994 et al) bring to light instances when Protestants, exiled under the previous
reign, were invited to preach on public occasions, while Catholic preachers were simply harassed or
arrested. Nevertheless Catholics received far lighter punishments for their beliefs.
Following the 1559 Act of Uniformity, Catholics were expected to conform outwardly. The imposition
of one shilling fines on those who did not attend Church of England services on Sundays and various
other days were set out to achieve this. Similarly there were penalties imposed on clerics who did not
follow the specified rites of the Book of Common Prayer or chose to publicly attack them. Their first
offence would result in imprisonment for six months and loss of a year s income. Successive offences
would carry a year s imprisonment, then life imprisonment if caught a third time. The Act of
Supremacy was passed in the same year, which actively encouraged

Social Constructionist Theory Of System Theory
Understanding Systems, Social Constructionist and Conflict Theories
Alexi D. Fanopoulos
Northwest Nazarene University
Entering the field of social work has opened my mind to different concepts and theories. In this paper,
I will explain my understanding of the systems theory, social constructionist perspective, as well as
conflict theory. I will also compare and contrast the social constructionist perspective (SCP) and the
conflict theory against the system theory.
Systems Theory
I have enjoyed learning about the origin of different theories, the evolution over time, and how we
incorporate them into present day. In America during the 1960 s, social workers were drawn to the
concepts outlined in systems perspective theory and general systems theory. Through the 1960 s and
1970 s, these two theories were widely considered the dominant theoretical perspective (Hutchison, E.
D. (2017) outlining the framework to the field of social work. To help further understand the functions
of these perspectives, projects were completed by experts in the field of social work. These ideas were
accepted, and overtime social workers would reference material originated from articles and research
projects. For example; Austrian biologist, Karl Luwig von Bertalanffy is considered one of the
founders of general systems theory (GST) (Wikipedia)(2017). Luwing conducted different research
projects to prove its efficacy.

SYNOPTIC COMPARISON OF THE TEXTS
Now that we have uncovered some of the significance of the location of the text both in relation to the
surrounding narratives, and geographically it is time to look at each of the accounts, and how they
compare to one another. The account of the miracle in Mark is the longest, and most detailed of the
three, and I will be exploring it first. Luke s account is very similar to Mark s, and in fact it is believed
that Luke used Mark as the sole source for his account of the story, and simply changed the language
possibly changing the meaning, and focus of the text for his Gospel , so I will look at his narrative
second. Finally Matthew is the shortest, and least detailed account of this narrative containing some ...

In verse 2, and 3 the word μνημείων is used meaning among the tombs . In verse 5 however a different
word is used. μνήμασιν meaning as it is translated simply tomb . Making note of this distinction is
important because if we look at the literal meaning of the translation of the word used in verses 2, and
3 we get a clearer picture of the condition of the demon possessed man. The first word that is used to
describe the tomb emphasizes the fact that the man lived among the dead . I find this linguistic point
interesting because it is an instance where our English language is not adequate to describe what the
author was trying to convey in his text. When we look at the underlying meaning of the two separate
words, and gain a deeper understanding of the underlying meaning of the first we get a more powerful
picture of the circumstances that this demon possessed man was in. Aside from living among the
tombs the man also suffered in other ways due to his demon possession. One example of this is 5:5
Night and day among the tombs and on the mountain he was always howling and bruising himself
with stones. (NRSV) these two examples of the miserable state of the mans life are an illustration of
the power that evil can have over a person . Understanding the extent of the power that the evil demon
had over the man makes the illustration of the power that Jesus has over the demon all the more

the trouble as the normal demand for juice is slow during the winter season. Opportunities: 1.
Differentiation by Price: By keeping competitive price with good quality and fresh products,
consumers can be attracted towards juice center. By keeping the price comparable with cold and hot

Breakfast of Champions: Science Fiction as Social Commentary
Vonnegut s symbolic and satirical representation of humans as robots in his novel: Breakfast of
Champions is representative of the authors interpretation of world events and conflicting nature of
human beings. The renowned author often hits on significant and worrisome themes such as
destruction of the planet and overpopulation. His unique and unparallel style includes outrageous and
often unrealistic chain of event that are obviously symbolic and relevant to the story as well as the
author s attitude on a particular subject matter. For instance in describing when Kilgore Trout writes
his stories, he does not save them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are introduced into the story as outsiders almost, as if we did not belong to the planet, as if we
were not human. This kind of insight creates a whole different kind of attitude on the events that are
happening within. Science fiction, theoretically attempts to do just that. To make the ordinary seem
strange, in order to provide critique to a specific subject matter in order to let the reader rethink his or
her own attitude on the matter at hand. Certainly this is that case here as well. Having this third party
perspective allows for us to rethink our entire attitudes on relevant social and secular issues
dominating at the time. For instance such a moment that sticks out is the description of women s
underwear. And the madness about wide open beavers was extended to underpants when Dwayne and
Trout and I were boys. Girls concealed their underpants at all costs, and boys tried to see their
underpants at all coasts (Vonnegut, 27). Below the paragraph is a picture of the very underpants he
spoke of that portrays, literary, a critique of how insignificant and unworthy the massive social
outbursts on debates were on nude or nearly nude depictions of women in popular magazines when
compared to other issues that plagued the world.
One passage sticks out in particular when it comes to issues that Vonnegut considers relevant: The
Creator of the Universe would like to apologize not only for the capricious,

Was Jim Jones Good Or Bad
Jim Jones did a lot that seemed good in his life (Merlot). He worked with people of all different
backgrounds to make their lives better and wanted to solve social problems. He spoke against the
racist stereotype of the white man and towards the new idea of a united racial group. Jones also did a
lot of bad in his life. Jim Jones was the craziest religious fanatic to live during the 20th century
because he brainwashed most of his followers, abused his power, and led the largest mass murder for
that decade in a single event. Jones was born to a poor family in 1931 in Crete, Indiana. His father was

James Ferguson Developmental Aid Case Study
1) What did you already know about foreign development aid before doing the readings for this week?
Have you studied or read about it elsewhere? Prior to doing the readings for this week, I did not know
very much at all about foreign developmental aid. I only ever figured that foreign developmental aid
was money that we provided to developing nations to help soothe poverty. After reading these articles,
however, I now know that the intended goal of developmental aid is to alleviate poverty in the long
term, rather than as a short term response. I also saw developmental aid as purely humanitarian, and
never paused to consider that consequences of such aid, nor the possibility of the aid failing.
2) According to James Ferguson, why do international development projects tend to fail? Ferguson
argues that international development projects tend to fail because they are anti politics machines ;

Analysis Of The Film Gravity
I want to start by recognizing that in my earlier film papers I have made the mistake of summarizing
all of the science in each of the films from start to finish. By doing so my paper essentially became a
summary of the film rather than an explanation of the science found within it. To avoid repeating these
mistakes I would like to focus on a few scientific concepts that I found interesting in this film,
Gravity. The first, and likely most obvious is the concept of surviving in space. Second, the concept of
floating freely in space. Third, the concept of decomposition in the zero gravity atmosphere of space.
And fourth, the part of the movie where lieutenant Kowalski propels himself with a fire extinguisher. I
believe that Isaac Newton s three laws can help me to explain these concepts. Gravity was a thrilling
film that showed a situation in which astronauts were stranded in space without a spacecraft or any
means of communication. The surviving astronauts had to fight for their lives in theoretically hardly
survivable and unlivable conditions. The main dilemma, and theme of the entire film, was the
destruction of the International Space Station (ISS) and most of the astronauts on board. Russia
launched a missile into space to destroy one of their satellites. This turned into a problem when the
launch was successful, but the target was missed and the mission failed. Debris was left spiraling
through space at a rapid pace. Dr. Ryan Stone survived the destruction along with

Family Relationships In The Simpson
Family relationships are a common theme in novels or television shows. One of the most famous and
successful contemporary animated sitcoms in television is The Simpsons which portrays the family
and its dynamics in a very satirical way. Before The Simpson appeared on television, the traditional
American family of the 1950s was considered as the perfect one. It was a patriarchal family where the
father went to work, the mother raised the children while taking care of the household and the children
behaved well and did always the right thing. Indeed, the American family of the 1950 s was

How To Enhance Food
Many people will say that the less seasoning you use on a steak, the more enjoyable it will be. The
reality is that even a good cut of meat will need some seasoning if you want to maximize your
enjoyment and the nutritional benefit that you get from it. You should opt for simpler options if
possible but spices have been used to enhance food throughout history for a reason. The reason is that
if you use them correctly, you can enhance both nutrition and flavor. To get a truly flavorful steak,
consider seasoning it with the following spices.
Salt
Salt is the essential seasoning for savory dishes. For steak, you will want to use a salt with fine
crystals. The reason is that those crystals will dissolve more quickly and take less time to be absorbed
into the meat. Larger crystals will not dissolve unless there is a lot of water present. You can use
kosher salt or any other large crystal salt as a finishing salt to be sprinkled onto the meat after it has
been cooked. You will want these salts to stick around since their purpose is as much to enhance the
presentation as it is to enhance the flavor and texture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Does Hector Criticize The Greek Honor System
Homer s Critique on the Greek Honor System in The Iliad The Iliad, a great epic poem written by
Homer, illustrates the honor system valued deeply by the Greeks and Trojans. Though Homer uses
Hector as a voice piece for the honor system, he presents Hector and other characters as heroes that
conflict with the code itself. Through Hector s conversation with Paris, we identify the three main
components that codes the honor system. In other great epic poems, great heroes appear to possess and
suffice the components. Yet, Homer chooses to do the exact opposite. In The Iliad, the heroes , such
as, Paris, Diomedes, and Hector himself, conflict with the codes. Homer criticizes the Greek honor
system by contradicting the system through these conflicted heroes.
Through Hector, Homer points out the transfer of glory between enemies through battle as one of the
main components in the honor system. Hector expresses this particular concept through his
conversation with Paris. In book 3, when Paris avoids Menelaus, Hector forces him back into battle by
saying, Can t you just hear it, the long haired Greeks chuckling and saying that our champion wins for

irony, we can see he expects and believes that only through fighting a final heroic battle head on will
bring honor; thus, it must be obeyed. The main components of the Honor system that Hector values
greatly are the titles, war prizes, and heroic battles. Homer explicitly maneuvers Hector as a voice

In the excerpt from Jane Austen s novel Persuasion, Anne Elliot is faced with a decision normally seen
as a dream come true by nineteenth century women of marrying her knighted cousin. However, in true
Brothers Grimm fashion, Anne was reluctant to enter into the incestious relationship of her dreams
even at the wishes of close family friend, Lady Russell. Through her narrative techniques of selection
of time frame, character selection, and an omniscient point of view, Austen illustrated the nature of the
proposed relationship and the desires of both Lady Russell and Anne. The time frame Austen selected
for her story emphasized the weight of the proposed union set in a time where titles were worth more
than life, the scenario of marrying a knighted man and being able to keep it within the family
bloodline was a win in all aspects. The knowledge of how great an impact the marriage would have on
Anne s family name brought a greater gravity to her doubts on the marriage and put her in a position
where, upon declining the proposal, could lead to her social ostracization. ... Show more content on

With no regard to true love, Lady Russell saw the marriage between Anne and Sir Elliot as a great

during an encounter between Anne and Sir Elliot, Lady Russell said not another word, willing to leave
the matter to its own operation; and believing that, could Mr Elliot at that moment with propriety have

Essay on Tell-tale Heart Literary Analysis
The Tell Tale Heart A Literary Analysis Like many of Poe s other works, the Tell Tale Heart is a dark
story. This particular one focuses on the events leading the death of an old man, and the events
afterwards. That s the basics of it, but there are many deep meanings hidden in the three page short
story. Poe uses techniques such as first person narrative, irony and style to pull off a believable sense
of paranoia. In this particular story, Poe decided to write it in the first person narrative. This technique
is used to get inside the main character s head and view his thoughts and are often exciting. The
narrator in the Tell Tale Heart is telling the story on how he killed the old man while pleading his
sanity. To quote a phrase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poe s economic style of writing is a key instrument in making this story amazing. In this story, he uses
his style to truly bring out what he intended for the story a study of paranoia. In example, I loved the
old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult. For his gold I had no desire. I
think it was his eye! Yes, it was this! One of his eyes resembled that of a vulture a pale blue eye with a
film over it. Whenever it fell upon me my blood ran cold, and so by degrees, very gradually, I made up
my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye for ever. it is easy to see that
Poe used short sentences, to capture the rapid thoughts of a twisted mind. Perhaps the biggest element
in this story is the use of irony, both verbally and dramatically. For verbal irony, we can see clearly at
the end that what the narrator tells the officers and how he acts on the outside, (in a cool manner , as
he puts it) is much different than the chaos on the inside, as in what he wants to say. He sees the police
as villains and wishes them to leave, but due to the situation, he had to keep them there. The more that
he assures himself of his sanity near the end of the story and the more that he thinks that he is acting
coolly, eventually leads him to reveal that he is the one that killed the old man after all. As for
dramatic irony, since we know that the narrator is the one that killed the old man,

What Is The Code Of Chivalry In Le Morte D Arthur
While talking about of the Middle Ages, knights in shining armor are one the first things that come to
mind. These great men have become staples of that time period, and it would hard to picture medieval
times without them. These knights had to follow an intricate set of rules, known as the code of
chivalry. This code included many heroic qualities and represented an idealized man. Sir Thomas
Malory s Le Morte D Arthur is a perfect example of how this code was used.
Being appointed a knight was a very serious affair. These knights were expected to have all the traits
of a good man. They had to be courteous to women, loyal to their king, and keep their faith in God. If
they failed to honor the code of chivalry, they faced public humiliation

Effects Of Schizophrenia On Society
Many people do not have a full understanding of what schizophrenia is and its affect on the individual
diagnosed and its affect on society. So the question at hand is what exactly is schizophrenia?
Schizophrenia is a chronic and severe mental disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels, and
behaves. (NIH) Although schizophrenia is not as common as other mental disorders, it can be very
disabling. Approximately 7 to 8 individuals out of 1000 will get schizophrenia in their lifetime. People
with this disorder have many symptoms and issues. Those with schizophrenia may hear voices or see
things that are not actually there. They may also believe that other people are reading their minds,
controlling their thoughts, or plotting to harm them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Individuals with schizophrenia can still be before or after those ages but is more unlikely after the age
of 45. Childhood diagnosis of schizophrenia has become more and more advanced recently. Early
onset and diagnoses during the teen years is very difficult. To diagnose a teen is difficult due to the
overlap in behavior between schizophrenia and regular teenage behavior. Teens that are diagnosed
usually show the first symptoms of change of friends, a drop in grades, sleep problems, and irritability.
These symptoms are exactly identical to how regular teens act, causing the problem with the diagnosis
of schizophrenia. Usually the first of the symptoms to occur are the hallucinations and delusions. But,
many other factors can help diagnose youth that have schizophrenia. Some factors that can predict
schizophrenia in up to 80 percent of youth who are at high risk of developing the illness. (NIH)
Reason for the contraction of schizophrenia is still not yet known. Many scientists believe that it is
part hereditary mixed with environmental factors.
Treatments are becoming more widely available for those with schizophrenia. Researchers are still
continuously developing more effective treatments and using new research tools to understand the
causes of schizophrenia. In years to come, this work may help prevent and better treat the illness.

Depressants And Its Effects On The Brain
Depressants Most depressants effect the brain just by increasing the moments of gamma aminobutyric

anxiety problems. Although there s also a negative side effects to this too much GABA activity,
though, can be harmful. These effects can lead to serious accidents or injuries. These types of

Leadership Styles And Leadership Style
Stacey Feiner once stated, For those of you who really want to give critical thought to your unique
leadership style and foster genuine followership, learn from what s out there and weave it into
something meaningful and authentic. (Feiner, 2015) For the last two weeks, I have spent time self
analyzing and soul searching to identify the qualities I bring to a leadership role. Many of the core
values important to me also align between the participative leadership style and laissez faire
leadership style. These values include working in a team environment, empowering others to make
decisions and providing support for those decisions, keeping an open mind to new ideas/suggestions,
and being involved with my team members on a daily basis. (Mooney, n.d.) As I learn ways to build
on my strengths within these leadership styles, I also need to improve upon my weaknesses to become
the well rounded leader I want to be.
Larry Page, CEO of Google, is a leader who I would like to emulate. He also shares the
participative/laissez faire leadership style. Mr. Page believes employees should be empowered to
dream the impossible. He encourages out of the box thinking from his employees and encourages
them to create the next new product innovation. To successfully lead Google, Mr. Page expects his
employees to be productive and results oriented while being self managed. He does not believe
employees should be micromanaged. In addition, he considers it important to help employees

Political Identities in Malaysia since Its Independence in...
Q: Since gaining independence in 1957, which social cleavages have been important in shaping the
identities of political parties in Malaysia?
As is the case for many (relatively) new democracies, Malaysia s electoral backdrop has been
influenced by competing social cleavages since gaining its independence in 1957. But which social
cleavages have been important in shaping the identities of political parties in Malaysia? This essay
highlights which social cleavages have played an instrumental part in maintaining the identities of
each of the major parties within Malaysia, and which cleavage dimension has been politicised to
create the strongest electoral division. It will first assess to what extent social cleavages in Malaysia
have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The resulting cleavage structure is the product of complex relations of crosscutting and reinforcing
cleavages largely defining the setup of a party system which outlines political platforms, individual
party behaviour, and the potential for coalition forming.
To assess which cleavage structures have typically divided voters within a given party system, the
party system must have been frozen whereby the party system has effectively politicised a certain
issue dimension where political parties emerge from and have maintained their relevance in the system
due to the salience of such issues. For many Western democracies, Lipset and Rokkan assessed that
two revolutions have been responsible for structuring certain cleavages in party systems: the national
revolution was responsible for politicising the differences of the centre/periphery and the
religious/secular while the industrial revolution characterised the urban/rural and capital/labour
divides.
However, Malaysia is a relatively new democracy. There has never been a national revolution which
divided the centre/periphery and the religious/secular, nor was it the case of urban/rural and
capital/labour divides of the industrial revolution at least not to the point of freezing the party system.
So how can we apply the model put forth by Lipset and Rokkan to account for the politicisation of
social cleavages in Malaysia? Ufen writes that the structures of party systems mirror real social

The Side Effect Of Loneliness
Charmi Patel Barrett English 208 17 December 2014 Codependency: The Side Effect of Loneliness
Sam Keen once wrote, There are two questions a man must ask himself: The first is Where am I
going? and the second is Who will go with me? If you ever get these questions in the wrong order you
are in trouble (Keen 12). It is the time of Great Depression and it is every man for himself. In this
society it is typical to live and travel alone but some are unable to handle this life of loneliness and
develop a reliance on codependency. Codependency is a psychological condition in which someone is
in an unhealthy relationship that involves living with and providing care for another person with a
pathological condition. Whether it is George codependent on Lennie or Candy dependent on his
companions, the characters form a codependent relationship to avoid a life of misery. Analyzing Of
Mice and Men through a psychoanalytic lens, Steinbeck elucidates the characters formation of
unhealthy relationships, through their ego and superego, in order to satisfy their loneliness. Loneliness
causes an individual to seek the company of another. George and Lennie became aware of this early
on in their lives leading them to form a mutual dependence on each other. At the ranch, after being
asked by Slim, George opens up about the incident in Weed, [George] Well, that girl rabbits in an tells

explained below:
Profit (π) = Total Revenue (TR) Total Cost (TC) = P×Q TC
According to the FOC of profit maximization, we get dπ/dQ = (d(TR))/dQ (d(TC))/dQ [Here P is not

A monopolist can also perform price discrimination. When different prices are charged by a seller for
essentially the same product it is known as price discrimination. The monopolist often wants to
segment the market according to the price elasticity of demand (e) and charge higher prices for those
consumers with lower elasticity of demand, according to the mark up formula. Therefore Futures
Unlimited Corporation can also discriminate its price. Direct price discrimination can again be sub
divided into three categories first degree price discrimination, second degree price discrimination, and
third degree price discrimination. With first degree price discrimination, every firm would like to
charge a different price to each of its customers. If possible, the firm would charge each consumer the
maximum price that consumer is willing to pay for each unit bought. The maximum price the
consumers are willing to pay is known as the customer s reservation price. The act of charging each
customer his or her reservation price is called first degree price discrimination or perfect price
discrimination. In second degree price discrimination, price varies in according to quantity demanded.
Within some markets, each consumer purchases many units of the good over any given period, and the
consumer s demand declines with the number of units purchased. In this situation, a firm can
discriminate according to the number consumed. This is

Matchlocks In Japan

result, muskets were included on its military arsenal. However, the gun was presented with some
technical problems, which was not reliable to be used in the wars. One of those problems was that it
could not perform properly in rain. But the Japanese generals soon were able to find a solution for it,
even before the Portuguese generals (Perrin 1979, 17). They created a sequential firing technique in

But it had also changed the ways wars were conducted, as with the advance and power of guns, old
styles of weapons were being slowly abandoned. In 1549 Oda Nobunaga, the military Lord, who with
the successor of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, was successfully able to unified Japan under one strong central
government (Brown 1948, 238). Requested an order of five hundred matchlocks to gunsmiths called
Kunitomo (Brown 1948, 238). In 1575, in the battle of Nagashino, Nobunaga had an army of
approximately 70,000 men, and 3,000 of them were equipped with matchlocks (Brown 1948, 238). Its
army was a combination of swords and guns, as at that time they could effectively build tactics using
both. Thus, the use of firearms was quickly spread. In 1582 by the time of Nobunaga death, possibly
one third of Japans soldiers, who were leaded by military barons, were equipped with firearms (Brown
1948, 238). Also, the victories earned at the begging of the Korean invasion, were largely due to the
fact that the Japanese army were equipped with muskets, while the Korean didn t acquire these types
of weapons (Brown 1948). The three unifier of Japan Nobunaga, Hideyoshi and Leyasu made an
extensive use of guns in their battles. Therefore, it can be said that guns played a key role in the
unification of Japan as well as in the 1592 1598 invasions of Koreans (Brown

Many wonder about the spread of the African race. The answer to that mystery leads back to the

reason for the wide spread of the African society altogether. The first stage included manufactured
goods like clothing, food, and artilleries and transporting them from Europe to Africa. The second
stage was known as the Middle Passage where the enslaved Africans would be shipped to the
Americas. The third and final stage of the trade was the shipment of the produce from the enslaved

Forests And Temperate Grasslands
Grasslands are lands that have a lot of grass! Grasslands have very few trees. This is because it does
not rain enough to grow many trees. There are two kinds of grasslands: savannas and temperate
grasslands. A savanna is a grassland found in warm climates. The largest savanna is in Africa.
Savannas have many herbivores or plant eating animals such as elephants, giraffes, and zebras. Many
of these animals eat grass. They also have carnivores or meat eating animals such as lions, cheetahs,
and hyenas. Temperate grasslands have a lot of grass and good soil for farming. Temperate grasslands
are also called prairies, steppes, or pampas. The weather here is hot in the summer and cold in the
winter. Some of the animals that live here are rabbits, buffalo, wolves, and insects. Forests are full of
lots of trees! There are 3 kinds of forests: tropical forests, temperate forests, and boreal forests. Each
different kind of forest has different types of trees and animals. Tropical forests are found in hot and
humid places near the equator. Rainforests and jungles are tropical forests. It is called a rainforest
because it rains a lot. Animals such as snakes, gorillas, jaguars, monkeys, and parrots live here.
Temperate forests are like the forests we are used to. The leaves change color with the seasons. Maple,
elm, and oak trees are found in temperate forests. Some of the animals that live here are mountain
lions, bears, deer, and squirrels. Boreal forests are found in the North and

Cloning Used To Be Considered Science Fiction
The idea of cloning used to be considered science fiction, that was until dolly was made. In the late 90
s Scottish scientist, Ian Wilmut and Keith Campbell along with colleagues from the Roslin Institute
accomplished the first cloning in history Cloning is basically creating a copy of something, but in
genetic cloning means creating an identical copy of existing DNA (of an organism) . The final object
was named Dolly, born on July 5, 1996 she was the first clone to be produced from a mammal cell.
The scientist didn t announce Dolly s existence until nearly seven months later, gaining much attention
TIME magazine featured Dolly the Sheep. Dolly later had 6 lambs. In 2001 Dolly developed arthritis,
but was treated with medicine. Dolly s death was euthanized because she was suffering from lung
cancer and severe arthritis. Ever since then cloning became useful in the medical field for many
reasons. There are 3 types of cloning.
Molecular cloning which is also known as gene cloning is used for making identical copies of DNA
molecules inside of chromosomes. Then there is Organism cloning also referred to as reproductive
cloning and it is basically making a complete copy of a whole organism. Lastly there is Therapeutic
cloning, it s useful for treating diseases, it s copying human embryos for production of stem cells. But
during the process embryos are destroyed. Just as many ethical topics in the medical field, cloning has
it s pro s and cons.

Vampire Subcultures
There are many subcultures in the United States that are strange to me that some people think are
completely normal. A subculture is a cultural group within a larger culture that has the same interests,
beliefs, behaviors, or religion. Subcultures varies from things like southern food culture, to things like
bodybuilding. The strangest subcultures to me are the vampires, and the bronies. There were some
more in mind, but these are the two that stood out the most to me.
Strangely enough, vampires are already in people s imagination. Now they have a cultural group just
for their imagination. I m not trying to seem disrespectful to the vampire subculture, but it s honestly
strange that they think they are real vampires. This lifestyle formed in the western culture, stemming
from horror films, and overall styles of Victorian England. The vampire subculture is just like any
other system of beliefs. They commit themselves to this lifestyle and participate in rituals.
Continually, vampires dress themselves in gothic clothing with dark eye shadow, and black nail polish.
In this vampire lifestyle, you will find blood donors who are people who allow the vampires to drink

  • 2. Writing Is An Important Aspect Essay Writing Essay writing is an important aspect, not just in the life of the average student, but also every other person in general. This is because they are not only used by to assess the performance of students, express ideas or develop creativity, but people regularly in their every day life also use them. For instance, when writing resumes, in publication agencies such as magazines and newspapers, writing contracts, journals, and for other reasons. There have been several improvements in my writing process as I have been able to practice and learn more concerning essay writing. This has helped to improve upon the basic knowledge I had about the subject, as I used to find it stressful when writing essays. Writing requires certain processes that enable one to create a good and concise essay, such as, pre writing, organizing, drafting, revising, and editing (Sims, Chan, and Sethuram 374). These steps are necessary as they help one to generate ideas, plan the essay, make it easy to comprehend, and also use time wisely. When organizing the essay, it should have a topic sentence or thesis in the introduction, a body, and then the conclusion followed by salutations if required. With several improvements in these areas, I have also been able to work on the grammar aspect of the essay, including spelling, punctuations, and other areas. This helps make the audience or readers easily understand the essay. With the help of the Foundations of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Real Life Negotiation Assignment Essay For my real life negotiation assignment, I went to Auffenberg Pre Owned Center in Belleville. I have never bought a car before, nor witnessed anyone buy one, so this was an entirely new experience for me. I chose to negotiate for a car for two reasons. First, I can t negotiate for something more typical like a raise or lower rent because of my circumstances. Second, I will probably buy a car within the next few years, so I thought this would be a beneficial experience for me. After negotiating for the car, I think this experience has helped me improve my negotiation skills by showing me things I do well, areas I can improve, and tactics the salesman used against me. To prepare for my negotiation, I used a variety of websites including the dealership s own site, Kelly Blue Book, Carfax, Cars.com, and the NADA s website to research various automobiles and their respective prices. Once I completed my research, which took approximately five hours, I went to the dealership within a week. I walked in and asked to speak to the sales manager Mike Murphy, but he immediately passed me off to one of the other sales representatives, Matt Townsend. I showed Matt the car I was interested in, a 2013 Chevy Malibu LT, and he took me on a test drive. When we returned from the test drive, we went to his cubicle and began negotiating the price of the automobile. He explained the various fees and taxes on the car the brought the price up to $17,025.82 from the $14,799 for the car alone. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Stanley Chernyshevsky s Eyes-Wide Shut Chernyshevsky states that the first purpose of art is to reproduce nature and life, and this applies to all works of art without exception (364). Eyes Wide Shut is a movie that was directed by Stanley Kubrick in 1999. Additionally, it was his last film. He created a film version of Dream Story, which is a fictional (Schnitzler). The lead roles are played by Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman and Sydney Pollack. The time is set up at Christmas in New York. Stanley Kubrick directs a number of successful and serious films. There is no doubt that Eyes Wide Shut is one of them. (Kubrick). Kubrick uses visual aesthetics to express his point of view indirectly. Christmas products is used to create a holiday atmosphere, which is full of consumption. In addition, mask and costume hide the identity and individuality of people. Finally, the money that Bill, who is male main character and acted by Tom Cruise spent, shows he is a customer. These three things convey the theme of consuming in Eyes Wild Shut. People are shopping to prepare for Christmas; therefore, Christmas products are related to buying and consuming. In the movie, Christmas products are almost everywhere especially the Christmas tree. The colorful trees contrast sharply with the main tones of the movie, which are blue and red. Kubrick keeps reminding audiences that it is Christmas. At the end of this movie, Bill and Alice who is female main character Nicole Kidman are doing Christmas shopping with their daughter Helena. In the mall, there are a lot of ... • 5. The Decision Between Organic And Conventional Foods Sales of organic foods have soared in recent years, as more consumers pay attention to where their food comes from and try to eliminate exposure to chemicals and toxins. (Walmart2015) Multiple factors such as cost, convenience and health risks can influence a consumer in the decision between organic and conventional foods. In the past years the media has opened consumer minds to the risks of conventional foods and resources have been made available to close the gap in cost and convenience between organic and conventional foods. In recent years, resources have been created to close the financial gap between organic and conventional foods, though you might find yourself shopping at different stores or farmers markets. Most consumers go towards weekly adds in their local grocer clipping coupons and shopping on a budget that usually led to a cart filled with conventional foods. In recent years that has changed. Typical stores are now carrying organic options and also advertising sales and new items. Walmart is trying to make organic food more accessible to its budget conscious shoppers. The nation s largest retailer is making a bigger bet on the fast growing category, teaming with Wild Oats to sell organic packaged food priced in line with conventional foods and at least 25 percent less than other organic brands it carries. The effort by Wal Mart, the world s largest retailer and the largest seller of food in the United States, could have a ripple effect in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay on Queen Elizabeth’s Treatment of Catholics Queen Elizabeth s Treatment of Catholics The reformation of England had been a long drawn out affair dating back to King Henry VIII s Act of Supremacy in 1534. By the accession of Elizabeth in 1558, many historians believe that she inherited a country, which was still predominantly Catholic in belief. Although people of South Eastern England were likely to be influenced by the peoples of Europe, who were experiencing reforms, Doran (1994) suggests that the number of Protestants accounted for just 14 per cent of the population of Sussex and less than 10 per cent in Kent. Whether rural lifestyles were largely unaffected by changing religious doctrine due to a primitive communications network or general disinterest, as long as the laity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In comparison to Queen Mary s ruthless policy over Protestant subjects, Elizabeth adopted a cautious if not liberal policy towards Catholicism. The general consensus of many historians is that Elizabeth did not really care about what her subjects believed as long as they kept their religious views to themselves. Doran (1994 et al) bring to light instances when Protestants, exiled under the previous reign, were invited to preach on public occasions, while Catholic preachers were simply harassed or arrested. Nevertheless Catholics received far lighter punishments for their beliefs. Following the 1559 Act of Uniformity, Catholics were expected to conform outwardly. The imposition of one shilling fines on those who did not attend Church of England services on Sundays and various other days were set out to achieve this. Similarly there were penalties imposed on clerics who did not follow the specified rites of the Book of Common Prayer or chose to publicly attack them. Their first offence would result in imprisonment for six months and loss of a year s income. Successive offences would carry a year s imprisonment, then life imprisonment if caught a third time. The Act of Supremacy was passed in the same year, which actively encouraged ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Social Constructionist Theory Of System Theory Understanding Systems, Social Constructionist and Conflict Theories Alexi D. Fanopoulos Northwest Nazarene University Entering the field of social work has opened my mind to different concepts and theories. In this paper, I will explain my understanding of the systems theory, social constructionist perspective, as well as conflict theory. I will also compare and contrast the social constructionist perspective (SCP) and the conflict theory against the system theory. Systems Theory I have enjoyed learning about the origin of different theories, the evolution over time, and how we incorporate them into present day. In America during the 1960 s, social workers were drawn to the concepts outlined in systems perspective theory and general systems theory. Through the 1960 s and 1970 s, these two theories were widely considered the dominant theoretical perspective (Hutchison, E. D. (2017) outlining the framework to the field of social work. To help further understand the functions of these perspectives, projects were completed by experts in the field of social work. These ideas were accepted, and overtime social workers would reference material originated from articles and research projects. Luke s account is very similar to Mark s, and in fact it is believed that Luke used Mark as the sole source for his account of the story, and simply changed the language possibly changing the meaning, and focus of the text for his Gospel , so I will look at his narrative second. In verse 2, and 3 the word μνημείων is used meaning among the tombs . In verse 5 however a different word is used. μνήμασιν meaning as it is translated simply tomb . Making note of this distinction is important because if we look at the literal meaning of the translation of the word used in verses 2, and 3 we get a clearer picture of the condition of the demon possessed man. The first word that is used to describe the tomb emphasizes the fact that the man lived among the dead . I find this linguistic point interesting because it is an instance where our English language is not adequate to describe what the author was trying to convey in his text. When we look at the underlying meaning of the two separate words, and gain a deeper understanding of the underlying meaning of the first we get a more powerful picture of the circumstances that this demon possessed man was in. Aside from living among the tombs the man also suffered in other ways due to his demon possession. One example of this is 5:5 Night and day among the tombs and on the mountain he was always howling and bruising himself with stones. By doing so my paper essentially became a summary of the film rather than an explanation of the science found within it. To avoid repeating these mistakes I would like to focus on a few scientific concepts that I found interesting in this film, Gravity. The first, and likely most obvious is the concept of surviving in space. Second, the concept of floating freely in space. Third, the concept of decomposition in the zero gravity atmosphere of space. And fourth, the part of the movie where lieutenant Kowalski propels himself with a fire extinguisher. I believe that Isaac Newton s three laws can help me to explain these concepts. Gravity was a thrilling film that showed a situation in which astronauts were stranded in space without a spacecraft or any means of communication. The surviving astronauts had to fight for their lives in theoretically hardly survivable and unlivable conditions. The main dilemma, and theme of the entire film, was the destruction of the International Space Station (ISS) and most of the astronauts on board. The reality is that even a good cut of meat will need some seasoning if you want to maximize your enjoyment and the nutritional benefit that you get from it. You should opt for simpler options if possible but spices have been used to enhance food throughout history for a reason. The reason is that if you use them correctly, you can enhance both nutrition and flavor. To get a truly flavorful steak, consider seasoning it with the following spices. Salt Salt is the essential seasoning for savory dishes. For steak, you will want to use a salt with fine crystals. The reason is that those crystals will dissolve more quickly and take less time to be absorbed into the meat. Larger crystals will not dissolve unless there is a lot of water present. How Does Hector Criticize The Greek Honor System Homer s Critique on the Greek Honor System in The Iliad The Iliad, a great epic poem written by Homer, illustrates the honor system valued deeply by the Greeks and Trojans. Though Homer uses Hector as a voice piece for the honor system, he presents Hector and other characters as heroes that conflict with the code itself. Through Hector s conversation with Paris, we identify the three main components that codes the honor system. In other great epic poems, great heroes appear to possess and suffice the components. Yet, Homer chooses to do the exact opposite. In The Iliad, the heroes , such as, Paris, Diomedes, and Hector himself, conflict with the codes. Homer criticizes the Greek honor system by contradicting the system through these conflicted heroes. Through Hector, Homer points out the transfer of glory between enemies through battle as one of the main components in the honor system. The time frame Austen selected for her story emphasized the weight of the proposed union set in a time where titles were worth more than life, the scenario of marrying a knighted man and being able to keep it within the family bloodline was a win in all aspects. This particular one focuses on the events leading the death of an old man, and the events afterwards. That s the basics of it, but there are many deep meanings hidden in the three page short story. Poe uses techniques such as first person narrative, irony and style to pull off a believable sense of paranoia. In this particular story, Poe decided to write it in the first person narrative. Poe s economic style of writing is a key instrument in making this story amazing. In this story, he uses his style to truly bring out what he intended for the story a study of paranoia. In example, I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult. For his gold I had no desire. I think it was his eye! Yes, it was this! One of his eyes resembled that of a vulture a pale blue eye with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me my blood ran cold, and so by degrees, very gradually, I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye for ever. it is easy to see that Poe used short sentences, to capture the rapid thoughts of a twisted mind. Perhaps the biggest element in this story is the use of irony, both verbally and dramatically. For verbal irony, we can see clearly at the end that what the narrator tells the officers and how he acts on the outside, (in a cool manner , as he puts it) is much different than the chaos on the inside, as in what he wants to say. He sees the police as villains and wishes them to leave, but due to the situation, he had to keep them there. The more that he assures himself of his sanity near the end of the story and the more that he thinks that he is acting coolly, eventually leads him to reveal that he is the one that killed the old man after all. • 29. The Side Effect Of Loneliness Charmi Patel Barrett English 208 17 December 2014 Codependency: The Side Effect of Loneliness Sam Keen once wrote, There are two questions a man must ask himself: The first is Where am I going? and the second is Who will go with me? If you ever get these questions in the wrong order you are in trouble (Keen 12). It is the time of Great Depression and it is every man for himself. In this society it is typical to live and travel alone but some are unable to handle this life of loneliness and develop a reliance on codependency. Codependency is a psychological condition in which someone is in an unhealthy relationship that involves living with and providing care for another person with a pathological condition. Whether it is George codependent on Lennie or Candy dependent on his companions, the characters form a codependent relationship to avoid a life of misery. Analyzing Of Mice and Men through a psychoanalytic lens, Steinbeck elucidates the characters formation of unhealthy relationships, through their ego and superego, in order to satisfy their loneliness. Loneliness causes an individual to seek the company of another. George and Lennie became aware of this early on in their lives leading them to form a mutual dependence on each other. At the ranch, after being asked by Slim, George opens up about the incident in Weed, [George] Well, that girl rabbits in an tells the law she been raped. As the inventor, the company currently has a patent on this specific product. Only this firm has the exclusive right to control and distribute the quantity of this certain isotope of plutonium on the market. Therefore it is enjoying a monopoly and will maximize its profit. The profit maximizing behavior of a monopolist is explained below: Profit (Ï€) = Total Revenue (TR) Total Cost (TC) = P×Q TC According to the FOC of profit maximization, we get dÏ€/dQ = (d(TR))/dQ (d(TC))/dQ [Here P is not fixed] = MR MC = 0 Therefore MR = MC As a result, a monopolist sets a price where its MR is equal to its MC. When different prices are charged by a seller for essentially the same product it is known as price discrimination. The monopolist often wants to segment the market according to the price elasticity of demand (e) and charge higher prices for those consumers with lower elasticity of demand, according to the mark up formula. Therefore Futures Unlimited Corporation can also discriminate its price. Direct price discrimination can again be sub divided into three categories first degree price discrimination, second degree price discrimination, and third degree price discrimination. With first degree price discrimination, every firm would like to charge a different price to each of its customers. If possible, the firm would charge each consumer the maximum price that consumer is willing to pay for each unit bought. The maximum price the consumers are willing to pay is known as the customer s reservation price. The act of charging each customer his or her reservation price is called first degree price discrimination or perfect price discrimination. In second degree price discrimination, price varies in according to quantity demanded. Within some markets, each consumer purchases many units of the good over any given period, and the consumer s demand declines with the number of units purchased. In this situation, a firm can discriminate according to the number consumed. This is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1545 the lord of Bungo on Kyushu, called Otomo Yoshiaki heard about the weapon and requested a demonstrating of the musket (Lidin 2002, 6). Otomo also became impressed by the power of the weapon and as a result, muskets were included on its military arsenal. However, the gun was presented with some technical problems, which was not reliable to be used in the wars. One of those problems was that it could not perform properly in rain. But it had also changed the ways wars were conducted, as with the advance and power of guns, old styles of weapons were being slowly abandoned. In 1549 Oda Nobunaga, the military Lord, who with the successor of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, was successfully able to unified Japan under one strong central government (Brown 1948, 238). Requested an order of five hundred matchlocks to gunsmiths called Kunitomo (Brown 1948, 238). In 1575, in the battle of Nagashino, Nobunaga had an army of approximately 70,000 men, and 3,000 of them were equipped with matchlocks (Brown 1948, 238). Its army was a combination of swords and guns, as at that time they could effectively build tactics using both. Thus, the use of firearms was quickly spread. In 1582 by the time of Nobunaga death, possibly one third of Japans soldiers, who were leaded by military barons, were equipped with firearms (Brown 1948, 238). Also, the victories earned at the begging of the Korean invasion, were largely due to the fact that the Japanese army were equipped with muskets, while the Korean didn t acquire these types of weapons (Brown 1948). The three unifier of Japan Nobunaga, Hideyoshi and Leyasu made an extensive use of guns in their battles. Therefore, it can be said that guns played a key role in the unification of Japan as well as in the 1592 1598 invasions of Koreans (Brown ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the late 90 s Scottish scientist, Ian Wilmut and Keith Campbell along with colleagues from the Roslin Institute accomplished the first cloning in history Cloning is basically creating a copy of something, but in genetic cloning means creating an identical copy of existing DNA (of an organism) . The final object was named Dolly, born on July 5, 1996 she was the first clone to be produced from a mammal cell.
