Benefits Of Spending On Eating Out
On the first assignment, I listed one of the advantages in changing my spending when it comes to
eating out was that it would save me money that could be better spent on something more valuable.
This is overall the most important benefit for me currently because money is especially tight during
this Fall Semester, the holidays are here and this this usually includes spending on foodand gifts.
Also with the new season I enjoy spending some money on things that will last longer than 30
minutes, typically food is only a short term splurge. The overall goal is to save money, and I
found that I have saved a lot more money by becoming more aware of how much money I ve
actually put into eatingout. I use that saved money towards bills, which are... Show more content on

I have found this to be true because now that I am choosing to eat at home I see my mom a lot
more. We will sit together for a meal every other day (like I said, im very busy so I m not home
very often.) I also indicated that my temptations towards sweets and beverages would be reduced
because im not in its presence. This proved to be true because if I don t see the temptations I don t
fall to it. I have tried to avoid putting myself in situations where going out to eat becomes an
option and therefore I don t have the need to buy something because the occasion or because im
already in that setting. Last, I said the novelty of eating out will be special again. The absence of
the eating out environment will make it feel more significant event. To elaborate, you know when
you have something so often that after a while it might not mean as much to you as it did the first
few times. Like seeing your favorite play the first few times, but maybe after the 87th time you
aren t as excited about it. This is the exact feeling im talking about, eating out, getting treats so
much with my boyfriend that it isnt a special event for us anymore. Now that we don t do this as
frequently its become something to really look forward to because its not everyday.
Now to add to my advantages, I would say that by reducing my spending on food I would gain
better money managing skills. I would have a better understanding of determining needs versus
wants.

Conflict Between Israel And Palestine
The big question we ask ourselves today is, will Israel and Palestine ever agree to stop fighting?
The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been traced all the way back to 1948 through 2005
in The Israel Palestine Land Settlement Problem, written by Charles Rowley and Jennis Taylor.
However, this conflict did not end in 2005. This article was written in 2006, so anything within
the last 10 years is not included. The conflict between the two counties still continues to this day
and still remains a major problem. Israelis and Arabs have been fighting over Gaza on and off for
decades now. The three issues laid out in this article are the four major wars that took place, the
refugee problem, and the conflict between religions. It concludes with the road map to peace.
Throughout his whole book, The IsraelPalestine Conflict, Gelvin speaks of the same historical
events that occurred between Israel and Palestine, while the article reveals there are still other
conflicts, the land settlement problem has been the major conflict between Israel and Palestine
since 1948. The problem is, simply put, a dispute over real estate (Gelvin 3). This conflict has
resulted in major wars during the period of time following World War II. The 1948 1949 Arab
Israeli war began when Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon invaded Palestine. The second war that
occurred, was the 1956 Suez Canal War, at the end of this war Israel agreed to withdraw from the
Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza strip

St. Basil Of Caesare The Origins Of Monasticism
Monastic Rules
Monasticism is a way of life of inner and is considered liberation from material things. It means
denying one s self of worldly possessions, to live a humble, set apart life and being totally
devoted to the study of scripture and spiritual matters. Many base the Monastic life on the 1
John 2:15 17 which states, Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the
world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world the desires of the flesh and
the desires of the eyes and pride of life is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world
is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever (ESV).

People were becoming Christians at a rapid pace; some church communities started to show signs of
not being strict with guidelines and regulations. The Monks were respected among the people and

preserving education and the Bible. During the early and middle years, one of the institutions that
remained stable was the church and monasticism was important to its stability.
The most important monk of early medieval Christianity was St. Benedict. In 529 he wrote a rule
for his monastery that would become the rule for almost all monasteries of early medieval
Christianity. It emphasized physical labor and involved vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience.
The Benedictine Order of monks is still in existence today. Monasteries were indeed the centers of
learning in the medieval period.
St Benedict made the decision that he would be able to a benefit to other monks. He founded
twelve monasteries with twelve monks in each. Some of them were not happy and resented him
for the stricter rules imposed. Others felt that Benedict had powers not typically a characteristic of
an ordinary person. His sister was responsible for the formation of a covenant which became the

United States, was the idea of the National center for health statistics (NCHS). The reason for this
change was intended for organizing morbidity status. The new coding include has more addition
into it that provides specificity and space for expansion of the code(CDC, 2017). The increased
intricacy in the coding will cause challenges in documentation and coding. Proper training is
necessary to overcome this kind of situation. Even though there are some downfalls in the initial
stage of transformation the benefits are promising. The health care world will be more precise and

The Saint Of Saint Philomena As A Patron Saint
I have chosen St. Philomena to be my patron saint. Saint Philomena was born in Corfu Island,
Greece. Saint Philomena was born a Greek princess and lived for 13 years. She was believed to
be a Virgin Martyr. In 1802, the bones of a female between 13 and 15 were discovered in the
catacomb of St.Priscilla. They were believed to be her remains. They were discovered in May. St.
Philomena was found with three titles that said Lumena/ Paxte/ Cumfi.
When Philomena was 13 years old she took a vow of consecrated virginity. Philomena s father
took his family to the rump to make peace but emperor Diocletian fell in love with Philomena.
When she refused to marry him she was subjected to torture. St. Philomena was scrounged
drowned with an anchor attached to her and shot with arrows. The emperor attempted to kill
St.Philomena 3 times but she survived. Each time she was attacked angels took her side and
healed her through a prayer. Many saw how St.Philomena was treated and that she was still alive
and they became Christians. The emperor was determined to put an end to his shame and stop all
the talking and had her decapitated. All because she refused to lose her virginity to the Roman
ruler, Diocletian. According to my resources, Philomena died at 3:00 in the afternoon just like Jesus.
Immediately following, she appealed to Pope Gregory XVI to begin an examination for the patron
of Filmena which means daughter of light. On January 13, 1837, Pope Gregory XVI named

Wash and Sterilization Process
Washing and sterilizing surgical instrument and materials are extremely important in the practice of
asepsis. Sterilizing all surgical instrument and materials prevents surgical sight infections. Over
many years, there were many different ways the sterilization process was preformed. Many
microbiologists and physicians took part in the discovery of and importance of the sterilization
process. Today there are many steps to sterilizing surgical equipment.
Before people knew what caused infection and many people died from surgical procedures. In
ancient times, demons and evil spirits were thought to be the cause of pestilence and infection.
Methods involving witchcraft and magic were used to drive them away. (Skellie, 2010) In 1450 BC

Today there are many precautions that are taken to insure that the equipment used in hospitals and
other heath care facilities are washed properly before being sterilized. Shortly after the surgical
procedure, the soiled and contaminated equipment is sorted and is taken to the decontamination
room. The decontamination team then should be properly downed in attire used to handle blood
and other contaminants. The instruments and other equipment are rinsed off and soaked in cool
sterile water with an enzymatic detergent. Using saline is not advised as this permanently damages
the instruments. Each instrument should be individually scrubbed to help eliminate debris. This
starts off the washing process. Many facilities invest in washers like the water decontaminator to
minimize manual cleaning. Another means of washing instruments is called the ultrasonic washer.
This washer used sound waves by, converting high frequency sound waves into mechanical

The Temple Of Athena Nike
The Temple of Athena Nike was built around 447 424 B.C.E. It was made in the southwest
corner of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. This Temple was made of marble making it look
classy and elegant for a goddess. Since Marble was such a rich material it was needed for a victor,
which is why the temple was named AthenaNike. Nike means victory in the Greek language and
Athena was the goddess of war and wisdom. The columns were made monolithic, so it was all
made out of one big stone. The marble used was indigenous to the land in Athens, where it was
made. In the frieze of the temple Athena is in a twisted perspective form, meaning she looks as if
she could be moving but her shoulders are turned forward. However, most images in the frieze are

Prospero And Ariel
Prospero is a man with high social standing and power, which he uses to manipulate situations
into his favor. He is the Duke of Milan and has a spirit Ariel in his power. Ariel is forced to
remain with him until the tasks he requires are complete. This accounts for Ariel s present
servitude to Prospero, confirmed in the spirit s first utterance, All hail, great master! (1.2.189).
Ariel begins to come to the end of his expected time trapped as a servant. He begins to become
very excited at the thought of his future freedom, dreaming about his days away from his
enslavement. This feeling is seen when he says: Where the bee sucks, there suck I/In a cowslip s
bell I lie./There I couch when owls do cry./On the bat s back I do fly/After summer merrily.
/Merrily, merrily shall I live now/Under the blossom that hangs on the bow. (5.1.99,104).... Show

same way, if he thinks of him as more than just a servant. Once he has done all the tasks he says
to Prospero, Sir, all this service/Have I done since I went. (5.1.27 1,272). He then says, Was t well

Cultural Diversity Of The Republic Of Indonesia
Within the cultural diversity of the Republic of Indonesia there are numerous artistic art forms that
have surfaced throughout this country. These genres give outsiders a glimpse into the cultural and
social context in which this society functions. Internationally this country is most recognized for its
traditional music ensemble known as gamelan. This art form serves as a significant part of the
artistic culture. It is used to accompany dances, puppet performances, rituals, and various
ceremonies. Furthermore, gamelan has always been an important part of the social construct within
the different provinces of Indonesia as it holds great recognition within its community. The different
forms of gamelan throughout the country in many ways have served as its own version of the
Gesamtkunstwerk within the culture of Indonesia and through provinces such as Baliwe see how
one of their own genres of gamelan became the genesis for Balinese artistic culture.
Within the province of Bali, one of the most archaic genres within this region is known as Gambuh.
Gambuh is the oldest known surviving performing dance drama which dates back to the early
sixteenth century during the Majapahit era under the influence from classical Hindu Javanese court
culture and performing arts. According to ethnomusicologist Emiko Susilo she stated, When the
dance dramas of Majapahit came to Bali, they had the new task of preserving the tradition of a

Investigating The Three Hormones Involved During The...
Identify and discuss the three hormones involved in the regulation of plasma calcium
concentrations. Explain why it is misleading to state that calcitonin lowers the plasma calcium
concentration.
Calcium circulates in the plasma in three different forms: ionized calcium, protein bound calcium
and in complexes formed with anions found in the blood. Although ionized calcium accounts for
only half of the circulating levels of calcium, it is essential for several important cell functions, such
as muscular contraction, cellular signalling, exocytosis and bone composition. Therefore, it is
necessary that the concentration of the ion in the blood stream is kept within a considerably strict
range.
Besides the dietary calcium intake, the human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to its hydrophilic nature, the hormone produces its effects by binding to a surface receptor on
target cells, PTH1R, which is coupled to G protein, triggering the cAMP pathway. By doing that,
PTH exerts rapid effects by stimulating calcium reabsorption in the kidneys, elevating resorption of
skeletal hydroxyapatite by osteoclasts and indirectly increasing intestinal calcium uptake by
promoting calcitriol synthesis in the kidneys by upregulating the activity of cytochrome P450
hydroxylases. Interestingly, it also stimulates osteoblasts to release RANKL molecules, which
indirectly results in an increased osteoclastic bone resorption. Moreover, PTH secretion induces a
higher excretion of phosphate ions in the urine, recruiting part of the calcium that is bound to
anions in the blood.
Another hormone involved in the regulation of calcium levels is calcitriol. Differently from the
other two hormones discussed in this text, vitamin D, as it is also known, is a hydrophobic peptide
hormone and thus acts via its nuclear receptor (VDR) in a slower, steroid like mechanism. By
activating its receptor, this hormone regulates gene promotion via nuclear response elements
(VDRE). This way, vitamin D stimulates the upregulation of calcium transporters in the
gastrointestinal tract, resulting in an increase in plasma calcium levels by raising the ion uptake.
Moreover, it also induces a higher renal reabsorption of calcium and promotes bone resorption,
increasing

Social Class In The United States
Class has changed in the way Americans understand class. The upper class was seen as people
who vacationed in Europe and worshiped God. The middle class drove Fords and enlisted as
company men. The working class voted as Democratic and didn t take cruises. Now, it s harder
for Americans to tell what social class people are in. It s harder to guess peoples class based on
clothing, votes, religion, the cars they drive, and the color of skin. Health and in some cases
education is getting harder to tell class with financial help.
Mobility is the heart of the American dream. Today, anyone can have a chance at becoming a

Social Actors And Organizations As One Working Unit
Blumer lastly notes that although many methodologies observe large social actors and
organizations as one working unit, this does not allow the understanding of how the organization
functions. Researchers should look at the individuals within the organization to see how those
individuals fit together and how they interact. The interactions of the people within the organization
paint a picture of how the organization functions and makes its decisions. Blumer sums up his
essay perfectly by saying respect the empirical world and organize a methodological stance to
reflect that respect (Blumer 1986, p. 60). Criticisms of Symbolic Interactionism As with any theory

His reasoning behind why he believes this is a bit confusing and does not fully explain why this
data is unreliable. He does explain that data created from a recreated world is not useable which
is understandable because it is not being taken from the real world, but he does not fully explain
why quantitative data taken from the real world is inherently wrong. He dismisses any validity
it may hold. This is also confusing for the reader because he is very vocal about testability. He
sees testability as important but throws out research types with clear testability. Many believe that
Blumer s symbolic interactionism lacks hard evidence and testability. A person interprets a
symbol and acts how they choose to act. This lacks the ability to be tested incorrect. Because this
theory allows for the actor to respond in any way they want, then the theory can never be proven
wrong meaning there is no testability (Melzer, Petros, and Reynolds 1975). Skidmore (1975)
points out that Blumer s theory does not account for why an actor will make the same choice in a
given situation. This paper allows for the assumption that every time an actor faces a situation they
consciously interpret it and then make a choice on how to respond. This does not account for the
unconscious acts and feelings that go into an action. Some actions are made without a full

However, when it comes to the spirit of innovation, it is seem that this rationalized rigidity of
roles and functions form a barrier to carry out the plan on higher level. (Marshall, 1919cite in

controlled by the managers and plans and they pay most attention to the operation and the

Gnaeus Pompey and the fall of the Roman Republic Essay
Events which stretch as far back as the reforms of the Gracchi brothers meant that the Rome was
facing a Republic that was already deteriorating before Pompey had stepped into power. While
Pompey s quest for power was harmful, many other factors were also baleful to the Republic,
and were hence instrumental in its decline. Gnaeus Pompeius s measures to gain power were
harmful because it was primarily a paradox to the principles of being part of a Republic with all
its notions of shared and short power. The fundamental reason why there were other reasons for the
decline of the system are that the military power was given to him, the already weak Senate, and
the fact that Pompeywas not the only player in the breakdown of the Republic due... Show more

Aside from this, it also hints at the Senate s role in the harm due to its own weakness and lack of
handle on the situation by allowing for Pompey to undergo the triumph.
Though Pompey sought power by manipulating the political system to his own advantage, the fact
that the Senate was already weak and hence gave him this power. This shows that although Pompey
s actions were detrimental to the fall of the Republic, he was not the sole contributor. Pompey was
both underage and had held none of the required offices, yet the Senate passed decrees exempting
him from these traditional prerequisites, thus allowing for him to be joint consul with Crassus in 70
BC. According to Cicero, absolute power was what he had sought, and thus this ambition had
nothing to do with the happiness and honour of the community. This reveals a callously ruthless
dimension to Pompey, in that he would undertake any measure to achieve his own goals. However,
it should also be noted that Cicero s interest areas are sometimes narrow and deliberately, or
accidentally selective. By reaching the top without any previously held positions of consequence,
Pompey the Great had manipulated the political system to his own advantage. Thus, by doing so he
undermined the Senate, reiterating its insignificance and weakness.
While Pompey s political alliances were harmful to the Republican system, he evidently wasn t the

A Light Hearted Look Back At Slot Game Scams Of The Past
Blog 31 A light hearted look back at slot game scams of the past
When you visit an online casino portal forum, scams and cons are often a hot topic of discussion.
The approach that many online casino games take is ruthless and often more damaging than most
can even fathom. However, it wasn t always the case of criminals taking on players, it was once a
case that criminals would target the casinos themselves. In many Robin Hood like acts some smart
thinking criminals would try and rob casino slot games through various old fashioned methods.
Illegal yet still carrying a sense of resourceful charm, the following looks back at several scams of
slot games past.

But cheaters aren t often deterred, so they developed a new scam to beat it. They started to
shave coins to mess with the system in place, as when a shaved coin was entered it would
register with the system before dropping into the refund tray. Much like the yo yo scam it would
allow players to play for free over and over again.
The Fake Coin
As time progressed and slot machines became more and more sophisticated, so did the scams
associated with them. Arguably the most famous scam of all is the fake coin, devised by Louis
The Coin Colavecchio, a player would create a fully fake coin that a slot machine would recognise
as legitimate. This scam achieved such infamy that several documentary films have been made
about its uses and origins.
The Piano Wire
It was a popular tool amongst mobsters in the 1960s, but it seems that slot game players also
found plenty of use for it as well. During the 1980s a group of men would use piano wire on a
slot machine. By sliding the 20 inch wire into the machines wiring they were able to rig the
machine and trigger its jackpot, banking $50,000. However, their victory was short lived, as they
would be caught by the police shortly after.
The Light Wand
At first glance a light wand looks like a fairly innocuous device, but to those who like to rig slot
games it is anything but. In the hands of the wrong people it is a powerful tool that allows for slot
machine mechanism manipulation. When

The Effects Of Abstinence Based Programs On Actual...
Additional research has explored the effects of abstinence based programs on actual behavior
outcomes. Kohler, Manhart, and Lafferty (2008) compared the effects of abstinence only and
comprehensive sex education programs, operationalizing effectiveness in terms of initiation of
sexual activity and teen pregnancy rates. They found that teenagers who received comprehensive
sex educationrather than abstinence only or no education were significantly less likely to report a
teenage pregnancy. In addition, their conclusions mirrored Sather and Kelly (2002), finding that
abstinence based programs did not reduce the likelihood of engaging in sexual activity. Kohler,
Manhart, and Lafferty (2008) actually concluded that comprehensive sex education was more likely
than abstinence based to reduce the percentage engaging in sexual activity. Overall, the researchers
showed that comprehensive sex education, including but not limited to contraception, did not
increase the prevalence of sexual activity in teenagers or the risk of teen pregnancy, while also
showing the that abstinence only education produced a higher likelihood of pregnancy.
These results have been corroborated in numerous studies: Santelli et al (2006), Ott and Santelli
(2007), Kirby (2008), Haberland and Rogow (2015), etc. Additionally many studies have taken a
large scale approach, looking at trends across the United States. Stanger Hall and Hall (2011)

communication at Kudler Fine Foods is to train cashiers on how to use the new NCR cash registers.
At a minimum the communication need is for instructions and hands on practice using the new
cash register. Written instructions and training manuals are good reference materials to compliment
hands on training. A written report is not an instructional tool, therefore; a written report would not
adequately serve the purpose for training the cashiers to use the new cash registers.
Video
Video presentations will be presented from the vendor of the NCR RealPOS 30 terminals. The
video presentations will examine the use of the terminals and separate video presentations should
be available for the cashiers, the management team, and the computer support specialists. The
video presentations should cover hands on use of the terminals depending on the employee and

Basic Financial Statements Under Generally Accepted...
Understanding Basic Financial Statements Companies report their financial activities in four basic
financial statements under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The four basic
financial statements are as listed below: 1.The balance sheet shows in a tabular form, the asset,
liability and owners equity of a company, at a particular time. The assets of a company will always
equal to the sum of liabilities and owners equity, this is called the accounting equation. i.e Asset =
liability + Owners Equity 2. The income statement gives details of executed transactions which
contributed positively or negatively to the owners equity. These transactions can bring about an

Every transaction, because of its financial impact, affects the financial statements of the business.
Financial statements can be prepared after 1, 2, or any number of transactions. Every transaction
has two sides: the giving side and the receiving side The record used to capture events that has
financial impact on each asset, liability, and stockholders equity is called the account. The
account is the basic summary device of accounting. An account is the record of all the changes in
a particular asset, liability, or stockholders equity during a period. Assets can be defined as
economic resources owned or controlled by the firm that deliver a future benefit for a business.
They are acquired by the firm as a result of a past event or transaction. Assets that can be converted
to cash within a short term like cash at hand/bank, inventories, are call short term or current assets.
Property, plant and equipment are categorized as long term asset The following asset accounts are

is a liability. The most common types of liabilities include: Accounts Payable, Notes Payable, and

Christian lack of interest in foreign missions. In response, he added An Enquiry into the
Obligations of Christians to Use Means for the Conversion of the Heathens. Carey argued that
Jesus Great Commission applied to all Christians of all times. He said that many sin in ease and
give themselves no concern no concerns are lost in ignorance and idolatry. Carey didn t stop
there: in 1798 Thomas and Carey had grossly underestimated the costs of living in India and
Careys beginning years where very hard. When Thomas gave up on the mission Carey had to
move his family repeatedly as he tried to find employment that could keep them. Illness followed
the family and loneliness and regret set in. William said he was in a strange land with no
Christian friend with noting to supply for us. Bu the also had hope saying God was with him. He
learned Bengali with the help of a pundit and in few weeks he started preaching to a small group
and translating the Bible. Once Carey had the passion he began worrying about his Anglican

In the Tang dynasty, influence by the steppe nomads provided greater opportunities for women

After Careful Examination Of Biblical Texts The Catholic
After careful examination of Biblical texts the Catholic Church teaches that homosexuality is not a
sin but rather it is intrinsically disordered. Additionally the church says, homosexuals should
practice a life of celibacy . This teaching from the Church causes some religious individuals with
same sex attractions to seek opportunities to change their sexual orientation, in order to have a
sexual orientation that better matches their religious identity and beliefs. The most popular way to
alter sexual orientation is through conversion therapy, a complex process that helps willing
homosexuals change their sexual orientation and to find a sense of peace. Some homosexuals seek

Another type of therapy used is group therapy, which can come in the form of retreats and inpatient
care treatments. Group therapy utilizes social support, making it susceptible to patients feeling
pressured to change because others want them to . Particularly, religious ex gay ministries use this
method of therapy along with religious principles to help their clients. An example of such ex gay
ministry is Exodus International . Currently, the most popular method of conversion therapy uses
both religious principles and psychoanalytic therapy. Particularly, current psychodynamic therapy
looks at the poorly formed bond with the same sex parent during childhood, which creates the
homosexual desire . All the different methods of conversion therapy share the same goal of trying
to stop homosexual acts or change the sexual orientation of homosexuals. Whether or not
conversion therapy successfully achieves these goals is still debated.
Currently, there is debate on whether conversion therapy is effective in changing sexual orientation.
Some studies found evidence that conversion therapy does change the sexual orientation of
homosexuals . Unfortunately, some of the researchers have apologized to the gay community for
lack of credibility and faulty research . In contrast, professional organizations speak out against
conversion therapy due to a shortage of evidence that it is successful. One such

For my food menu, I can say that I honestly had to due a lot of thinking to dish out a good idea.
For starters, the main dish of meal is a serving of Rice. One cup of rice contains 206 calories. The
fat contained within the rice is about 0.4 grams. The rice also contains 2 milligrams of sodium and
55 milligrams of potassium. The total carbohydrates found in the dish equate to about 45 grams.
White Rice, although not unhealthy, is not a significant source of any vitamins. However, when
eaten in multiple 1 cup servings, it could accumulate to be a rather sufficient source of vitamin B

Stay on the path! From, altering the future, to getting attacked by a crocodile, staying on the path is
crucial. In Being Prey and A Sound of Thunder the protagonists, the setting, and the theme all
changed the outcome of the story. I will compare and contrast all of these literary elements to prove
why you should stay on the path.
The settings of both stories were very dangerous. The Sound of Thunder is in a prehistoric time
with dinosaurs, That Mr. Travis pointed is the jungle of sixty million, two thousand, fifty five
years before President Keith . Being Prey is in a present day marsh that is abundant with
crocodiles, There are the crocodiles, lots of them along the river. The Sound of Thunder was
untouched by humans while Being Prey was a little bit touched or altered by humans. Both stories
were different and similar but dangerous at the same time. The protagonists of both stories had a
trait that ultimately got them in grave trouble. In both stories there was a path that for some

Native American Education Essay
Children were taken away from their homes and told everything they knew was wrong. They were
sent to boarding schools to change their culture. These boarding schools were run by the United
States government. The government s goal was to civilize Native Americans. They sent children to
these schools against their will. Native American children were educated like Americans and they
had to change their native ways to be more like whites (Cayton 266). Teachers abused their students
and beat their native ways out of them. They were not allowed to see their families so they would
try to escape, but their attempts were unsuccessful. The United States government s Boarding

Crazy Horse was brutally murdered and the Sioux surrendered ( Battle ). In 1890 the
government learned that the Native Americans were doing the Ghost Dance (Cayton 265). The
Ghost Dance was a ritual in which people join hands and twirled in a circle (Cayton 265). When
the government saw the Ghost Dance, they thought the Native Americans were crazy and trying
to rebel, so they tried to arrest Sitting Bull (Cayton 265). In this conflict that came to be known
as the Battle of Wounded Knee, soldiers killed Sitting Bull, 120 men, and 230 women and
children (Cayton 265). These battles pushed Native Americans onto reservations and took away
their basic human rights. Early Native American schooling was taught in tribes. Tribes would
teach their children healing arts and specialized crafts like making shell money (Nash 173).
Tribes used legends as a form of education a long time ago (Fixico 41). These stories would teach
important lessons like how to live in balance with nature. Many tribes would make day schools to
educate children on tribal sovereignty (Ellis). In the 1840s, the Cherokees formed a system of
public schools (Perdue 64). Education in tribes was an important right of the Native Americans. The
main goal of boarding schools was to civilize Native Americans. The federal government wanted to

METHODOLOGY
Two experiments were done last time due to some circumstances that made the class to lack time
and to be late compared to the official class syllabus. The students were able to accomplished the
job by equally dividing the time into two. The first experiment was about Kundt s tube. In this
experiment, longitudinal sound waves will be produced in a metal rod and an air column. Using the
properties of wave motion , the frequency of the sound and the speed of sound in the rod can be
determined.
For this experiment setup, following materials are needed such as a Kundt s tube apparatus, a meter
stick, a piece of cloth, a thermometer, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the temperature is directly proportional to the velocity of sound in air. Comparing the
velocity of sound in the rod and the velocity of sound in air, the velocity of sound in the rod is
greater than the velocity of sound air since the molecular arrangement of solids are very much
compact that allows the waves to easily travel along the medium. The molecular arrangement of
gases is far apart from each other. Because of this, it makes it hard for the wave to travel the
energy from one particle to the other thus allowing the velocity of the sound to move slower.
SAMPLE COMPUTATION
Given:
Length of metal rod, Lr = 91.5 cm
Average length powder segments, La = 10 cm
Temperature of air, t = 26 ВВoC

Analysis Of The Movie I Have Just Watched Citizen Kane ...
Hello, I have just watched Citizen Kane. I did not particularly like this movie, however, I would
recommend that anyone who is an old movies buff should see it. The movie was produced by
Orson Welles, who also played one of the main characters. Orson Welles played the role of
Charles Foster Kane. Kane s friend, Jedediah Leland was played by Joseph Cotten. Charles s
second wife, Susan Alexander Kane, was played by Dorothy Comingore. Walter Thatcher, Kane s
guardian after his mother came into some money, was played by George Coul. And last but not
least, Jerry Thompson, played by William Alland, the reporter who went around to interview Kane
s former friends and employees in an attempt to unveil who, or what, Rosebud was.
Citizen Kane is about a man by the name Charles Foster Kane. Mr. Kane was a famous and once
influential newspaper publisher. The movie starts with a newsreel depicting a lengthy obituary
with an overview of Kane s colorful life and career and introduced some of the more important
people and events that occurred in Kane s life. The producer of the newsreel told the reporters
that he was not happy with the film because it merely recounted Kane s life, instead of revealing
who Kane truly was. The producer noted that Kane s last word was Rosebud and wondered if
that may hold the key to Kane s character. He decided to stall the newsreel release and sent a
reporter, Jerry Thompson, to talk to Kane s former associates to try to uncover the identity of
Rosebud.

Last Four Stages Of Erikson s Psychosocial Development
Introduction
In addition to the beginning stages of life and Erikson s psychosocial development theory, the last
four stages apply to young adulthood and late adulthood. The last four stages of Erikson s
psychosocial stages are adolescence (12 18), young adulthood (19 40), middle adulthood (40 65),
and late adulthood (65 to death). During adolescence, the central crisis of identity vs role confusion
occurs. In young adulthood, intimacy vs isolation begins. Middle adulthood, the central crisis
generativity vs stagnation begins. Lastly, maturity is where ego identity and despair emerges. In
this analysis paper, developmental experiences that contribute to each crisis will be discussed; as

This is where social relationships become vital and contributes to the teenager s identity. Based on
the teenager s environment and support system, it can contribute to whether successful or
unsuccessful resolution will occur during this stage. If the teenager has obtained an identity they
are more likely to stay true to one self. If the teen does not successfully achieve identity this will
result in a weak sense of self (Robbins, Chaterjee, Canda, p.216).
Key factors in achieving identity are having social groups, peers, friends, cliques, etc. Expressions
of one obtaining identity are events such as being confident about their sex role, curiosity in the
opposite sex, tests adult authority, accepting one self, and having plans (Erikson handout, 2017).
Although they have social groups and people who impact their personality, teenagers constantly
compare themselves to others and continue to understand what individuality is. It could be
something as simple as wanting to be different which means being ourselves. This can also help
one obtain a sense of identity and confidence in who they are (Josselson, 1987, p

stories that mirrored theirs. In the study was twenty four veterans of the Vietnam War, and at the

Psychically, he cleanses himself in same water that sourced his loss. He does not keep these
feelings to himself, like he so easily could, but instead he accepts them. The further he gets into the
mucky water, the more his mindset begins to shift for the positive. The guilt lifts and the story he is
planning to tell changes narrative: Near the center of the field, First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross
squatted in the muck, almost entirely submerged. In his head he was revising the letter to Kiowa s
father. Impersonal this time (176). Though the impersonalization of his thoughts seems like a
negative quality, it actually shows improvement. Jimmy is further into the water, and feeling less
responsible for the sudden death. He no longer thinks of his own opinions on Kiowa, just the
facts. He died. It was an accident. The order was from higher up, not even Jimmy. No one can be
blamed. No one should be haunted by the guilt. By being in the moment, and the setting, he is able
to clear his mind and come to realizations about it all. He sinks into the filth, and ironically,
becomes clean again. Eventually, he lets himself go into the water, ignoring everyone and
everything in that moment: But First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross wasn t listening. Eyes closed, he let

The Importance Of Volunteering To A Non-Profit Community
It is always a great time to volunteer, as it is a critical part of the United States Economy as well

Not all schools have climbing walls in their schools so activities like the trust walk can be done
which does not require any equipment. In the trust walk students are paired up and one student

communication skills. Adventure Education uses different activities like that to promote physical
activity, and students of all different skill levels can participate. Adventure sports and activities are
better than team sports because any student can excel at them, rather than in team sports where
some students are not athletic and refuse to participate. Adventure education should be taught to
older elementary grade levels such as grades 4 and 5, and to middle school children. The skills
needed to succeed are basic motor skills and do not require any athleticism, and promotes
interpersonal skills. As the students begin to grow older and reach high school, they can participate

I was sitting in a secondstory room in Couffignal s largest house. This shows that he must be one
of the characters who are involved in the story, he is not just some story teller who has nothing to
do with the content of the story. Soon in the next paragraph, his identity is introduced, the
narrator is the detective. Of all the work that comes to a private detective (except divorce work,
which the Continental Detective Agency doesn t handle) I like weddings as little as any. The
narrator is the detective himself and he is hired to protect the wedding presents. Normally, people
would think it is weird to protect the wedding presents, and nobody would pay extra money to hire
a detective to protect their wedding presents. However, it is explained in the previous paragraph
that the value of the presents would add up to something between fifty and a hundred thousand
dollars. So this solves the reader s doubt, since the presents are so valuable, it is reasonable to
protect them, and it is obvious that the extra money paid to the detective has no comparison with
the value of these presents. In paragraph 8, a few other characters are introduced, the admiral and
earl from England, ex president of a South American country, the Danish baron, Russian princess
and general, ambassador from a Central European country. This paragraph is very important,
because the reader would want to know who are the people involved in the story. By giving a brief

UNIX, Linux, and Windows Servers
Security
When comparing Linux/Unix versus Windows platforms for security it is important to take into
account the security issues being addressed. The most common types of security breaches in today
s business world are based on social engineering attacks. These attacks are focused on bypassing
security measures by tricking users into accomplishing the tasks required by the malicious code.
These attacks can introduce numerous types of malicious code into the network ranging from
spyware up to and including viruses. When comparing Windows versus Linux/Unix it is important
to realize that more security features may be available depending on the exact operating system.

A fundamental aspect of managing any computer system, UNIX or otherwise, is the backup of user
and system data for possible retrieval purposes in the case of system failure, data corruption, etc.
Users, both teacher, student, or counselor, expect and depend on the admin to recover files that
have been accidentally erased, or lost due to hardware problems. Backup devices may be locally
connected to a system or remotely accessible across a network. Typical backup media types
include: 1/4 cartridge tape, 8mm cartridge tape (used infrequently today) DAT (very common)
DLT (where lots of data must be archived) Floptical, ZIP, JAZ, SyQuest (common for user level
backups) Backup tapes, disks and other media should be well looked after in a secure location
within the university, primarily at a main office as a whole (ie. Arizona). Software tools for
archiving data include low level format independent tools, file and directory oriented tools such
as tar, filesystem oriented tools, standard UNIX utilities, and high level tools (normally
commercial packages) such as IRIS NetWorker. The most commonly used program is tar, which
allows one to gather together a number of files and directories into a single tar archive file. Tar files
can also be compressed and some of the university s backup devices have built in hardware
compression abilities. Note that files such as MPEG movies and JPEG images are already in a
compressed format

How Does Masculinity Affect Women
We often see women affected by social norms and negatively represented but it s always good to
look at the other side of the spectrum. Masculinity can deeply affect and cause issues in boys and
young men. These issues are mainly emotional damages and the definition of what being a man is.
On of the ways to fix this would be to better represent masculinityand widen the spectrum of what a
manreally is. First of all, the definition of what being a man is a central issue for young males.
Paul Theroux talks about always liking being a man in his essay, Being a Man. He points out that,
Fiction Вwriting is equated with a kind of dispirited failure and is only manly when it produces
wealth money is masculinity. So is drinking. This shows... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

friends based on common interest rather than superficial categories, he got flustered. You don t

stuff or they talk about new version... Tears welled up in her eyes. I don t have anything to talk
about. In this quote we can see the emotional damages of expectations in Walkers eleven year old
son. He has to pretend to be someone he is not in order to make a conversation with someone.
This shows the pressures of masculinity on young males. The constraints of conversations has
brought an eleven year old into tears about not fitting in. This shows a small spectrum of the
psychological issues and damages on males. Paul Theroux also goes on to speak about the causes
of the psychological problems males face in Being a Man, he claims that, how can one think about
men without considering the terrible ambition of manliness?... It is a hideous and crippling lie, it
not only insists on difference and connvies out superiority, it is also by its nature
destructiveв”Ѓemotionally damaging and socially harmful. Theroux is trying to say that
masculinity allows superiority and difference between men and women which causes damage
between both gender and socially harm them. The act of making men and women seperate has

Dubois Double Consciousness Analysis
William Edward Burghardt Du Bois, a true representative of American Literature, overcame the
suffering of African Americans during the Civil War. American civil rights activist, poet, and
sociologist; Du Bois throughout his work shows the concept of double consciousness as it relates
to the black experience after the end of slavery. Not only did he fight for equality, but also helped
pave the way for the beginning of the modern Civil Rights Movement in America. Double
consciousness is the presence of two unconnected streams of consciousness in one individual. This
concept was coined by Du Bois during the 19th century and is first explored in his publication,
The Souls of Black Folks. Du Bois writes in his publication, Only those who have watched and
guided the faltering feet, the misty minds, the dull understands, of the dark pupils of these schools

Analysis Of The Little Mermaid
Loved by many Disney fanatics, The Little Mermaid is a classic fairy tale about a young
mermaid who gives up her tail and voice for legs and a chance to be with the prince she loves.
Where the film differs from the original classic is its ending, where the little mermaid turns into
ocean foam after the prince marries a different woman instead of the happy ending of Ariel and
Prince Eric. The original tale has multiple meaning that can be interpreted through the 4 different
lenses, allowing the young reader to learn what is expected of him or her.
The reader s response towards this short story is that if you truly love someone, you shouldn t be
afraid to let them go. When the little mermaid finally turns 15 and is able to go out to see the ...

On the other hand, she loves the prince and can t bare to see him in pain. The Little Mermaid
decides, loving the prince too much to end his life, to drown herself in the ocean, becoming one
with the foam. From this act, we learn that if we truly love someone, we shouldn t be selfish and
kept them to yourself. We should give them up, allowing them to live their own life. Whether or
not they return the feelings, the child learns that to love someone deeply, you be willing to
sacrifice your feelings and let the person walk their own path in order for them to be truly happy.
Through the lenses of Bettelheim psychologists, a childhood fear that can be observed here is the
fear of not having one s love be reciprocated. The Little Mermaid s choice to give up her tail was
not made without thought. When she ventures out to visit the witch in order to become human, she
becomes paralyzed with fear seeing the moving polypi grab hold of their unfortunate victims,
taking hold of them forever. She begins doubting herself, questioning if it s even worth it and
nearly turns back, only stopping when she thinks about her life with the prince. Throughout the
process of the deal making, the young mermaid begins to regret her actions. When the witch
mentions the pains she ll feel when she gains her legs, the little mermaid responds in a trembling
voice (в„™. 41). The thoughts of living her life in excruciating pain for the rest of her life

Essay On Guidance Changes
Does Title IX Need Changed? An argument has emerged in the United States regarding the title
IX guidance changes of 2011. In 2011 the Obama administration changed some guidelines about
sexual assault in title IX. These changes would include many changes that colleges would have to
make to comply with the new title IX rules and regulations. Since 2011 there has been questions
regarding if the changes were doing what they were made to do, which was to further protect each
party. Some people believe that the changes of 2011 have worked well and need to stay. On the
other hand, some people claim that there are some major problems with the regulations and need to
be rewritten. The two sides disagree about Title IX Sexual Harassment/Assault... Show more content

On the other hand, some think that any evidence at all is enough to prove someone guilty of a
sexual assault. With schools increase in responsibility it is thought to be a reason why people
are not receiving a universities full attention and fail to receive a full fair trial. University s
claim that every case they investigate is to their best of their ability but the accused and even
the victims have reported what they thought of as a failure of a fair trial. Some statements also
show that people seem to think that students that are involved with a University sports team is
treated differently than a normal student. Also, reports seem to show a favor to female genders
and discriminate males that are involved in an investigation. One of the most debated topics of
the 2011 changes to title IX is the differences between a school trial and a criminal trial. Some
people claim that schools sometimes fail or rush to hand over any investigations over to the
authorities. When a case is changed into a criminal trial often noted is that the trial is much longer
than a school trial and the accuser is sometimes harder to prove that they are guilty. Much of the
argument on this topic is when does the school stop and where does a criminal trial take place?
Some people believe that the schools should reserve the right to decide when they

Film Analysis Of The Film Rabbit Proof Fence
In the film, Rabbit Proof Fence, directed by Phillip Noyce, and set in the 10930s, one important
idea is the physical and emotional journey which involves discrimination, courage, determination
and family. This journey is experienced by three mixed race Aboriginal girls called Molly, Daisy
and Gracie. Molly is the protagonist, she is a leader and a decision maker who does not falter
and uses her survival skill and strength of will to overcome the challenges of her journey while
looking after her sister Daisy and cousin Gracie. A variety of film techniques is used in
important settings to help the audience understand the idea and how the film is effective as a
whole. One of the most important settings in the film is when the main character (the
protagonist) Molly Craige is introduced to the audience when she is being taught how to hunt
with her family before being forcefully taken by the authority in order to be made white. This
scene is effective for two reasons. The first reason is that it tells the audience about the character
Molly. The audience learns that the character is a young half caste aboriginal girl who lives in
Jigalong, Australia with her family and is becoming independent. The audience knows this
because they see she is learning useful survival skills from her mother and grandmother, the
important skills of Aboriginal culture such as tracking. This is important to the rest of the film
because she is learning to provide for a family and herself. also, Molly then uses these skills to
outsmart Moodoo (an Aboriginal tracker that works for Moore River), This girl is clever. She
wants to go home. Furthermore, her skills are used to look after Gracie and Daisy on their harsh
journey from Moore River in which she travels 1500 miles (2000km) through unfamiliar territory
to reach their home and family in North Western Australia, with authorities closing in on them all
the way. This is the main reason why this scene is effective. The second reason why the scene is
effective is that uses filmmaking techniques really well. For example, the director uses the
technique of symbolism. We see this when a wide shot is used showing Gracie holding the fence
and Molly asking where the fence goes to. This is

Plutarch opines that Cleopatra s ignominy of being Antony s concubine is tolerable if, [She] could

Consequently, melted and unmanned Antony returns to Alexandria fearing Cleopatra s suicide. In
doing so, Antony neglects his duties at Parthia, [With] Cleopatra s alarms, and arts upon the
occasion. He puts off his Median expedition (Langhorne et al., 1810, P. 58). Portraying Cleopatra as

Jason remarked his start as a CAD/ Surface pattern designer in 1999 led him to join Infomax

time, and since the current program was so successful he and Meir decided to start Fashion

Meir: As a former Garmento I had a good knowledge of what it took to design produce garments
and I started to use a computer to automate mundane tasks like costing. But once I saw my first

technology that not everyone would grasp.

  • 2. Benefits Of Spending On Eating Out On the first assignment, I listed one of the advantages in changing my spending when it comes to eating out was that it would save me money that could be better spent on something more valuable. This is overall the most important benefit for me currently because money is especially tight during this Fall Semester, the holidays are here and this this usually includes spending on foodand gifts. Also with the new season I enjoy spending some money on things that will last longer than 30 minutes, typically food is only a short term splurge. The overall goal is to save money, and I found that I have saved a lot more money by becoming more aware of how much money I ve actually put into eatingout. I use that saved money towards bills, which are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have found this to be true because now that I am choosing to eat at home I see my mom a lot more. We will sit together for a meal every other day (like I said, im very busy so I m not home very often.) I also indicated that my temptations towards sweets and beverages would be reduced because im not in its presence. This proved to be true because if I don t see the temptations I don t fall to it. I have tried to avoid putting myself in situations where going out to eat becomes an option and therefore I don t have the need to buy something because the occasion or because im already in that setting. Last, I said the novelty of eating out will be special again. The absence of the eating out environment will make it feel more significant event. To elaborate, you know when you have something so often that after a while it might not mean as much to you as it did the first few times. Like seeing your favorite play the first few times, but maybe after the 87th time you aren t as excited about it. This is the exact feeling im talking about, eating out, getting treats so much with my boyfriend that it isnt a special event for us anymore. Now that we don t do this as frequently its become something to really look forward to because its not everyday. Now to add to my advantages, I would say that by reducing my spending on food I would gain better money managing skills. I would have a better understanding of determining needs versus wants. ... • 3. Conflict Between Israel And Palestine The big question we ask ourselves today is, will Israel and Palestine ever agree to stop fighting? The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been traced all the way back to 1948 through 2005 in The Israel Palestine Land Settlement Problem, written by Charles Rowley and Jennis Taylor. However, this conflict did not end in 2005. This article was written in 2006, so anything within the last 10 years is not included. The conflict between the two counties still continues to this day and still remains a major problem. Israelis and Arabs have been fighting over Gaza on and off for decades now. The three issues laid out in this article are the four major wars that took place, the refugee problem, and the conflict between religions. It concludes with the road map to peace. Throughout his whole book, The IsraelPalestine Conflict, Gelvin speaks of the same historical events that occurred between Israel and Palestine, while the article reveals there are still other conflicts, the land settlement problem has been the major conflict between Israel and Palestine since 1948. The problem is, simply put, a dispute over real estate (Gelvin 3). This conflict has resulted in major wars during the period of time following World War II. The 1948 1949 Arab Israeli war began when Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon invaded Palestine. The second war that occurred, was the 1956 Suez Canal War, at the end of this war Israel agreed to withdraw from the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza strip ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. St. Basil Of Caesare The Origins Of Monasticism Monastic Rules Monasticism is a way of life of inner and is considered liberation from material things. It means denying one s self of worldly possessions, to live a humble, set apart life and being totally devoted to the study of scripture and spiritual matters. Many base the Monastic life on the 1 John 2:15 17 which states, Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever (ESV). Origins of Monasticism According to Frazee, monasticism ... The Monks were respected among the people and we a positive addition to the time. The monks living their solitary life were instrumental in preserving education and the Bible. During the early and middle years, one of the institutions that remained stable was the church and monasticism was important to its stability. The most important monk of early medieval Christianity was St. Benedict. In 529 he wrote a rule for his monastery that would become the rule for almost all monasteries of early medieval Christianity. It emphasized physical labor and involved vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. The Benedictine Order of monks is still in existence today. Monasteries were indeed the centers of learning in the medieval period. St Benedict made the decision that he would be able to a benefit to other monks. He founded twelve monasteries with twelve monks in each. Some of them were not happy and resented him for the stricter rules imposed. The reason for this change was intended for organizing morbidity status. The new coding include has more addition into it that provides specificity and space for expansion of the code(CDC, 2017). The increased intricacy in the coding will cause challenges in documentation and coding. Proper training is necessary to overcome this kind of situation. • 6. The Saint Of Saint Philomena As A Patron Saint I have chosen St. Philomena to be my patron saint. Saint Philomena was born in Corfu Island, Greece. Saint Philomena was born a Greek princess and lived for 13 years. She was believed to be a Virgin Martyr. In 1802, the bones of a female between 13 and 15 were discovered in the catacomb of St.Priscilla. They were believed to be her remains. They were discovered in May. St. Philomena was found with three titles that said Lumena/ Paxte/ Cumfi. When Philomena was 13 years old she took a vow of consecrated virginity. Philomena s father took his family to the rump to make peace but emperor Diocletian fell in love with Philomena. When she refused to marry him she was subjected to torture. St. Philomena was scrounged drowned with an anchor attached to her and shot with arrows. The emperor attempted to kill St.Philomena 3 times but she survived. Each time she was attacked angels took her side and healed her through a prayer. Many saw how St.Philomena was treated and that she was still alive and they became Christians. The emperor was determined to put an end to his shame and stop all the talking and had her decapitated. All because she refused to lose her virginity to the Roman ruler, Diocletian. According to my resources, Philomena died at 3:00 in the afternoon just like Jesus. Immediately following, she appealed to Pope Gregory XVI to begin an examination for the patron of Filmena which means daughter of light. On January 13, 1837, Pope Gregory XVI named ... • 9. Prospero And Ariel Prospero is a man with high social standing and power, which he uses to manipulate situations into his favor. He is the Duke of Milan and has a spirit Ariel in his power. Ariel is forced to remain with him until the tasks he requires are complete. This accounts for Ariel s present servitude to Prospero, confirmed in the spirit s first utterance, All hail, great master! (1.2.189). Ariel begins to come to the end of his expected time trapped as a servant. He begins to become very excited at the thought of his future freedom, dreaming about his days away from his enslavement. This feeling is seen when he says: Where the bee sucks, there suck I/In a cowslip s bell I lie./There I couch when owls do cry./On the bat s back I do fly/After summer merrily. /Merrily, merrily shall I live now/Under the blossom that hangs on the bow. • 10. Cultural Diversity Of The Republic Of Indonesia Within the cultural diversity of the Republic of Indonesia there are numerous artistic art forms that have surfaced throughout this country. These genres give outsiders a glimpse into the cultural and social context in which this society functions. Internationally this country is most recognized for its traditional music ensemble known as gamelan. This art form serves as a significant part of the artistic culture. It is used to accompany dances, puppet performances, rituals, and various ceremonies. Furthermore, gamelan has always been an important part of the social construct within the different provinces of Indonesia as it holds great recognition within its community. The different forms of gamelan throughout the country in many ways have served as its own version of the Gesamtkunstwerk within the culture of Indonesia and through provinces such as Baliwe see how one of their own genres of gamelan became the genesis for Balinese artistic culture. Within the province of Bali, one of the most archaic genres within this region is known as Gambuh. • 11. Investigating The Three Hormones Involved During The... Identify and discuss the three hormones involved in the regulation of plasma calcium concentrations. Explain why it is misleading to state that calcitonin lowers the plasma calcium concentration. Calcium circulates in the plasma in three different forms: ionized calcium, protein bound calcium and in complexes formed with anions found in the blood. Although ionized calcium accounts for only half of the circulating levels of calcium, it is essential for several important cell functions, such as muscular contraction, cellular signalling, exocytosis and bone composition. Therefore, it is necessary that the concentration of the ion in the blood stream is kept within a considerably strict range. Besides the dietary calcium intake, the human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to its hydrophilic nature, the hormone produces its effects by binding to a surface receptor on target cells, PTH1R, which is coupled to G protein, triggering the cAMP pathway. By doing that, PTH exerts rapid effects by stimulating calcium reabsorption in the kidneys, elevating resorption of skeletal hydroxyapatite by osteoclasts and indirectly increasing intestinal calcium uptake by promoting calcitriol synthesis in the kidneys by upregulating the activity of cytochrome P450 hydroxylases. Interestingly, it also stimulates osteoblasts to release RANKL molecules, which indirectly results in an increased osteoclastic bone resorption. Moreover, PTH secretion induces a higher excretion of phosphate ions in the urine, recruiting part of the calcium that is bound to anions in the blood. Another hormone involved in the regulation of calcium levels is calcitriol. Differently from the other two hormones discussed in this text, vitamin D, as it is also known, is a hydrophobic peptide hormone and thus acts via its nuclear receptor (VDR) in a slower, steroid like mechanism. By activating its receptor, this hormone regulates gene promotion via nuclear response elements (VDRE). This way, vitamin D stimulates the upregulation of calcium transporters in the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in an increase in plasma calcium levels by raising the ion uptake. Moreover, it also induces a higher renal reabsorption of calcium and promotes bone resorption, increasing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The middle class drove Fords and enlisted as company men. The working class voted as Democratic and didn t take cruises. Now, it s harder for Americans to tell what social class people are in. It s harder to guess peoples class based on clothing, votes, religion, the cars they drive, and the color of skin. Health and in some cases education is getting harder to tell class with financial help. Mobility is the heart of the American dream. • 13. Social Actors And Organizations As One Working Unit Blumer lastly notes that although many methodologies observe large social actors and organizations as one working unit, this does not allow the understanding of how the organization functions. Researchers should look at the individuals within the organization to see how those individuals fit together and how they interact. The interactions of the people within the organization paint a picture of how the organization functions and makes its decisions. Blumer sums up his essay perfectly by saying respect the empirical world and organize a methodological stance to reflect that respect (Blumer 1986, p. 60). Criticisms of Symbolic Interactionism As with any theory there are critics of symbolic interactionism. One weakness of symbolic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His reasoning behind why he believes this is a bit confusing and does not fully explain why this data is unreliable. He does explain that data created from a recreated world is not useable which is understandable because it is not being taken from the real world, but he does not fully explain why quantitative data taken from the real world is inherently wrong. He dismisses any validity it may hold. This is also confusing for the reader because he is very vocal about testability. He sees testability as important but throws out research types with clear testability. Many believe that Blumer s symbolic interactionism lacks hard evidence and testability. A person interprets a symbol and acts how they choose to act. This lacks the ability to be tested incorrect. Because this theory allows for the actor to respond in any way they want, then the theory can never be proven wrong meaning there is no testability (Melzer, Petros, and Reynolds 1975). Skidmore (1975) points out that Blumer s theory does not account for why an actor will make the same choice in a given situation. This paper allows for the assumption that every time an actor faces a situation they consciously interpret it and then make a choice on how to respond. This does not account for the unconscious acts and feelings that go into an action. Some actions are made without a full understanding of why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Marshall (1919) argued that the specialized engineers were controlled by the managers and plans and they pay most attention to the operation and the immediate outcome instead of the strategic perspectives. • 15. Gnaeus Pompey and the fall of the Roman Republic Essay Events which stretch as far back as the reforms of the Gracchi brothers meant that the Rome was facing a Republic that was already deteriorating before Pompey had stepped into power. While Pompey s quest for power was harmful, many other factors were also baleful to the Republic, and were hence instrumental in its decline. Gnaeus Pompeius s measures to gain power were harmful because it was primarily a paradox to the principles of being part of a Republic with all its notions of shared and short power. The fundamental reason why there were other reasons for the decline of the system are that the military power was given to him, the already weak Senate, and the fact that Pompeywas not the only player in the breakdown of the Republic due... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aside from this, it also hints at the Senate s role in the harm due to its own weakness and lack of handle on the situation by allowing for Pompey to undergo the triumph. Though Pompey sought power by manipulating the political system to his own advantage, the fact that the Senate was already weak and hence gave him this power. This shows that although Pompey s actions were detrimental to the fall of the Republic, he was not the sole contributor. Pompey was both underage and had held none of the required offices, yet the Senate passed decrees exempting him from these traditional prerequisites, thus allowing for him to be joint consul with Crassus in 70 BC. According to Cicero, absolute power was what he had sought, and thus this ambition had nothing to do with the happiness and honour of the community. This reveals a callously ruthless dimension to Pompey, in that he would undertake any measure to achieve his own goals. However, it should also be noted that Cicero s interest areas are sometimes narrow and deliberately, or accidentally selective. By reaching the top without any previously held positions of consequence, Pompey the Great had manipulated the political system to his own advantage. Thus, by doing so he undermined the Senate, reiterating its insignificance and weakness. While Pompey s political alliances were harmful to the Republican system, he evidently wasn t the only player in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Light Hearted Look Back At Slot Game Scams Of The Past Blog 31 A light hearted look back at slot game scams of the past When you visit an online casino portal forum, scams and cons are often a hot topic of discussion. The approach that many online casino games take is ruthless and often more damaging than most can even fathom. However, it wasn t always the case of criminals taking on players, it was once a case that criminals would target the casinos themselves. In many Robin Hood like acts some smart thinking criminals would try and rob casino slot games through various old fashioned methods. They started to shave coins to mess with the system in place, as when a shaved coin was entered it would register with the system before dropping into the refund tray. Much like the yo yo scam it would allow players to play for free over and over again. The Fake Coin As time progressed and slot machines became more and more sophisticated, so did the scams associated with them. Arguably the most famous scam of all is the fake coin, devised by Louis The Coin Colavecchio, a player would create a fully fake coin that a slot machine would recognise as legitimate. This scam achieved such infamy that several documentary films have been made about its uses and origins. The Piano Wire It was a popular tool amongst mobsters in the 1960s, but it seems that slot game players also found plenty of use for it as well. During the 1980s a group of men would use piano wire on a slot machine. Kohler, Manhart, and Lafferty (2008) compared the effects of abstinence only and comprehensive sex education programs, operationalizing effectiveness in terms of initiation of sexual activity and teen pregnancy rates. They found that teenagers who received comprehensive sex educationrather than abstinence only or no education were significantly less likely to report a teenage pregnancy. In addition, their conclusions mirrored Sather and Kelly (2002), finding that abstinence based programs did not reduce the likelihood of engaging in sexual activity. Kohler, Manhart, and Lafferty (2008) actually concluded that comprehensive sex education was more likely than abstinence based to reduce the percentage engaging in sexual activity. Overall, the researchers showed that comprehensive sex education, including but not limited to contraception, did not increase the prevalence of sexual activity in teenagers or the risk of teen pregnancy, while also showing the that abstinence only education produced a higher likelihood of pregnancy. These results have been corroborated in numerous studies: Santelli et al (2006), Ott and Santelli (2007), Kirby (2008), Haberland and Rogow (2015), etc. Additionally many studies have taken a large scale approach, looking at trends across the United States. As they grow up, however, they begin to solidify legitimate professions to support themselves and be happy. Growing up, I knew for a fact that I wanted to be a detective. The idea of solving real cases with real people and interviewing suspects gave me a rush like no other. Helping people has always been a goal of mine. From being a detective, I have also contemplated being a dental hygienist, cosmetologist (like my mother), and even a history teacher. The variety of occupations in the world are almost never ending; there are even jobs that no one has really even thought about. Even though I occasionally change my mind, I have decided to give up my childhood dream of becoming a detective to become a registered nurse (RN). The nursing profession has continued to thrive over time. Because I have seen how often nurses get overlooked, I want to be a part of a profession that knows its worth, learns more than just education, and is beneficial to society. Although they are the unsung heroes of hospitals, schools, and even the military, nurses are essential to communities around the world, and I look forward to entering this profession. The nursing major is a popular choice for many people entering college. This profession continues to grow because of numerous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is about the robbing and stealing of bank, Jewelry stores and wedding presents on the island of Couffignal. Couffignal is a small island connected by a wooden bridge to the mainland. The main street contains bank, hotels, jewelry stores and other usual stores. The higher part of the road lives the owners and rulers of the island. One of the rulers, The Henderixson family is having a wedding and they hired a detective to guard the valuable wedding presents. I was sitting in a secondstory room in Couffignal s largest house. This shows that he must be one of the characters who are involved in the story, he is not just some story teller who has nothing to do with the content of the story. Soon in the next paragraph, his identity is introduced, the narrator is the detective. Of all the work that comes to a private detective (except divorce work, which the Continental Detective Agency doesn t handle) I like weddings as little as any. The narrator is the detective himself and he is hired to protect the wedding presents. Normally, people would think it is weird to protect the wedding presents, and nobody would pay extra money to hire a detective to protect their wedding presents. However, it is explained in the previous paragraph that the value of the presents would add up to something between fifty and a hundred thousand dollars. So this solves the reader s doubt, since the presents are so valuable, it is reasonable to protect them, and it is obvious that the extra money paid to the detective has no comparison with the value of these presents. In paragraph 8, a few other characters are introduced, the admiral and earl from England, ex president of a South American country, the Danish baron, Russian princess and general, ambassador from a Central European country. This paragraph is very important, because the reader would want to know who are the people involved in the story. By giving a brief ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Masculinity can deeply affect and cause issues in boys and young men. These issues are mainly emotional damages and the definition of what being a man is. • 48. Film Analysis Of The Film Rabbit Proof Fence In the film, Rabbit Proof Fence, directed by Phillip Noyce, and set in the 10930s, one important idea is the physical and emotional journey which involves discrimination, courage, determination and family. This journey is experienced by three mixed race Aboriginal girls called Molly, Daisy and Gracie. Molly is the protagonist, she is a leader and a decision maker who does not falter and uses her survival skill and strength of will to overcome the challenges of her journey while looking after her sister Daisy and cousin Gracie. A variety of film techniques is used in important settings to help the audience understand the idea and how the film is effective as a whole. One of the most important settings in the film is when the main character (the protagonist) Molly Craige is introduced to the audience when she is being taught how to hunt with her family before being forcefully taken by the authority in order to be made white. This scene is effective for two reasons. The first reason is that it tells the audience about the character Molly. The audience learns that the character is a young half caste aboriginal girl who lives in Jigalong, Australia with her family and is becoming independent. The audience knows this because they see she is learning useful survival skills from her mother and grandmother, the important skills of Aboriginal culture such as tracking. This is important to the rest of the film because she is learning to provide for a family and herself. also, Molly then uses these skills to outsmart Moodoo (an Aboriginal tracker that works for Moore River), This girl is clever. She wants to go home. Furthermore, her skills are used to look after Gracie and Daisy on their harsh journey from Moore River in which she travels 1500 miles (2000km) through unfamiliar territory to reach their home and family in North Western Australia, with authorities closing in on them all the way. This is the main reason why this scene is effective. The second reason why the scene is effective is that uses filmmaking techniques really well. For example, the director uses the technique of symbolism. We see this when a wide shot is used showing Gracie holding the fence and Molly asking where the fence goes to. This is ...
