This document summarizes the results of a questionnaire about music preferences administered to 60 students aged 16-20. Key findings include: - The majority of respondents preferred hip hop music, which is significant as the artist's genre is hip hop. - Respondents believed most hip hop artists are male rather than female, demonstrating the male dominance in the industry. - Most expected the artist to play the main character in a music video rather than having separate individuals for the artist and character. - Bright lighting and a club setting were most expected for a hip hop love song music video.

We handed our questionnaires out to 60 students in our school, therefore
the age range is only from 16-20 yr olds

From the results we found the majority of the audience prefer hip hop which is
significant as our songs genre is hip hop therefore it shows there is a large target
audience for hip hop music in the age group of 16-20. About 14% preferred r&b and
the minority preferred rock

From these results we can see that the majority of the audience believe that the
majority hip hop artists are male rather than female. This demonstrates how the hip
hop industry is male dominated

From this we can see the majority of the audience expected the artist to also play the
male character. In our group there have been many disagreements over this issue, but
from this we can see the majority would prefer the main artist to also play the main
character, thus we will be using the same boy for male.

7. 7) What kind of clothing do you expect
the male character to wear?

The majority here expect the male to wear branded clothing, which is then followed by
informal. A similar amount expect the male to wear formal or baggy. As there is a
mixed opinion and expectation for the clothing, we are considering having the male
wear different outfits showing his different styles such as being urban to represent hip
hop but also classy and sophisticated. The use of portraying brands in the video will
portray money which is a hip hop convention so this will be a good convention to use.

From these results we can see the majority of the audience think women are
displayed as sex symbols in music videos and the minority of the video think
woman are portrayed as the main character. In the hip hop industry its is typical
to portray women as objects and sex symbols therefore we will be challenging
this convention to portray our female character as a decent, sophisticated
female.

9. 9) What type lighting do you expect to
have in our music video?

From the results we found the majority of the audience would expect to see bright
lighting in our music video, and the minority of the audience expect dull. Most people
expect bright lighting as the song is called “sunshine” so clearly it should be set in
summer and be bright and vibrant. We will try to use bright lighting but this is
dependant on the weather and time of day as it is winter and gets dark early our aim
is to shoot early in the day so we can shoot the video in the sunlight

From these results we found most of the people expect the setting to be in a club
which links with our audience feedback video as from that we also found most people
expect the setting to be in a club. Therefore we will definitely be using a club as a
setting but also add extra settings
