The document analyzes the results of a survey about music video preferences. It finds that the target audience is ages 15-25, most interested in pop music. Respondents watched 5-10 music videos per week on average and music videos influence song purchases. Storyline, action, visual effects, and love stories are the most enjoyed video elements. The video's artist should wear casual clothes and the video should take place in an urban or woodland setting featuring a female artist to appeal to the target audience.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. Gender
From the survey we have determined
that mostly Males have answered the
survey which could mean they are the
gender most interested in music videos
however because one participant
replied ‘Beyonce’ they could be
considered a ‘troll’ meaning the
evidence could be inconclusive as it
could have been 50% female to male or
60% male to female who answered the
survey. Excluding the “troll” the two
genders were quite close showing that
both genders would have a massive
interest in music and/or music videos
3. Age?
Results:
<10 2
10-15 1
15-25 16
25-35 0
35-45 1
45> 0
From the results we know that most of the people who
answered the survey are aged 15-25 this leads us to assume
that this age group of young people are most interested in
music and/or music videos. Strangely enough there was 2
people aged less than 10 who answered the survey and one
10-15 and one 35-45 and 0 25-35, 0 45+.The reason this is
strange is that we expected 25-35 to watch more videos of
music than people aged less than 15 or more than 35. Our
assumption of the age group being 15-25 was proven correct
which ultimately means that if we want to make a successful
music we would need to target this age group.
4. Favourite Genre of Music?
Results:
Pop 13
R&B 3
Classical 1
Rock 1
Hip hop 1
Alternative 1
From the results it is clearly obvious that Pop is currently the
most popular form of music shown by the results being 13 out
of 20. However it could be argued it's because Pop is most
popular amongst young people and from our 2nd question
(AGE) we found out that 15-25 was also the most popular
being 16 out 20 means that it's most likely that pop is this age
group favourite. This leads us to conclude that we should
create our music video to target ages 15-25 and genre must
be Pop in order to achieve maximum views possible
5. From the analysis we can determine that the
most common amount music videos watched
in a week is 5-10 but after that is more than
15. This leads us to comprehend that music
videos are popular in our culture and for our
music video to be successful and to be viewed
it needs to attractive and effective in the
qualities of a music video so that it can exceed
other music videos and be popular amongst
our audience. The research shows that the
demand for music videos is high and that we
have a lot of competition so our music video
needs to be attractive, interesting or unique
How often do you watch music videos?
6. Has a music video been important factor in the
purchase of a song?
From the research we are aware that
the purchase of a song i affected by
the music video as most people have
answered that it is. This means that
we would have to make our music
video effective in attracting an
audience so that the audience would
be interested in buying the song.
7. What type of Music do you find most attractive
From this question analysis it is clear
to see that pop is most POPular with
11 respondents choosing it. Secondly
was R&B with 4 and 1 of indie, rock,
country and other.
Since most people chose pop we
know that creating a pop music video
would attract most attention
massively more than the others so if
we wanted our music video to reach
as much people as possible we would
have to base it on a pop song
8. What type of music videos would you like to see more
of? From this Graph it is clear to us that
the audience want to see more
narrative videos since most people
answered narrative (12) but people
also want to see symbolic (1),
performance(1) and thematic (4) so
using multiple of these could get us a
bigger audience. We would have to
use narrative but incorporating
thematic/ performance/ symbolic
elements would make it more
attractive for different people
9. Favourite Elements
From the chart, it is clear that the element about music
videos that are most enjoyed by viewers is the Storyline as it
answered 16/20 showing that most people like that about
music videos. It could be because it gives meaning to the
song or because generally people like stories but we should
incorporate a storyline so that it attracts most people.
Action and visual effects both have 14/20 showing it is also
extremely important as it intrigues and makes the music
video more interesting
Incorporating a love story into our music video would also
attract a lot of people since it is extremely popular and our
survey shows 13/20 people enjoyed that. Props would also
be effective as 11/20 people like them meaning over 50% of
people enjoy them.
Costume, performance and symbolic iconography are all
elements less appreciated by the audience but still popular
so incorporating these would also attract an audience. Using
all of these would attract different types of audiences (eg.
people who like performance and people that like narratives)
and lead to a bigger audience.
10. What style would you like to see the artist wearing?
Most people want to see the artist wearing
casual, plain clothes. This is most likely
because since our target audience is young
people , they would want the artist to
relate to them and feel that the music is
targeted towards them. Quirky/original
and branded designer was also jointly
popular and would attract people because
these clothes would stand out. Ultimately if
we want to relate to the audience we
would have to use plain and casual
clothing like tshirts or jeans.
11. What location would you most like to see in the
music video? With Urban area having 9 and woodland
having 11 respondents it is clear that the
audience would be quite interested in
seeing the music video based around a
populated area or in the woods or forest.
For maximum popularity we could use
both these elements to fully appeal to a
wider audience. During this question
there were 2 other potential answers
(extreme scenery and rural area) but they
both achieved 0 respondents so we know
that we shouldn’t use any of these
otherwise it would not appeal to the
audience
12. What Gender Artist/Band would you most like to see?
Simply put the audience most likely want
to see a female Artist or band perform in
the music video as it achieved 15 more
responses than males . The amount of
males and females were quite equal so it
could mean both genders prefer seeing a
female role as it could be more relatable
as in our culture most music elements
are dominated by females. If we want to
appeal to the audience we would need to
have a female main role in the music
video.
