Abstract
A simple technique used to reduce the PAPR of OFDM signals is to clip the signal to a maximum allowed value, at the cost of BER
degradation and out-of-band radiation. Clipping does not add extra information to the signal and high peaks occur with low
probability so the signal is seldom distorted. Out-of-band radiation can be reduced by filtering at the transmitter, the filter used in this
project consists on a FFT-IFFT pair which is easier to implement than traditional FIR filters and allows the implementation of the
clip & filter set several times in order to reduce the peak re growth that filtering introduces. The BER degradation can be mitigated by
reconstructing the signal at the receiver. We analyzed the performance of the decision-aided reconstruction (DAR) and improved DAR
(IDAR) techniques that iteratively try to guess the original symbols and proposed an improvement for one of those techniques.

Efficient FPGA implementation of high speed digital delay for wideband beamfor...journalBEEI
In this paper, the authors present an FPGA implementation of a digital delay for beamforming applications. The digital delay is based on a Parallel Farrow Filter. Such architecture allows to reach a very high processing rate with wideband signals and it is suitable to be used with Time-Interleaved Analog to Digital Converters (TI-ADC). The proposed delay has been simulated in MATLAB, implemented on FPGA and characterized in terms of amplitude and phase response, maximum clock frequency and area.
CNR and BER Ranges for the DVB-T2 Reception-Success IJECEIAES
DVB-T2 (Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial Second Generation) reception requires a sufficient quality of the received signal. CNR (carrier-tonoise ratio) and BER (bit-error-rate) are two of quantities describing the quality. This paper presents the range of each quantity providing a successful reception based on real data obtained by field-measurements. This data was collected from MO (mobile-outdoor) and SI (stationary-indoor) receivingsystems capturing signal sent by some on-air trial transmitters broadcasting services focused on the fixed-receivers. The result indicated that the successful and failed receptions were split into two quite separated (concentrated) ranges of post-decoded BER and therefore a boundary distinguishing them could be prominently defined. In contrast, they were spread in a wide common range of CNR and pre-decoded BER. Furthermore, the boundary that corresponded to this last quantity was ambiguous. In the case of MO reception as numerical examples, the two split ranges of post- decoded BER were less than about 10 5 and more than about 2.7 × 10 for the successful and failed receptions, respectively, whereas CNR as high as about 14 dB could be viewed as a soft boundary distinguishing these both reception-success conditions.
The effects of using variable lengths for degraded signal acquisition in GPS ...IJECEIAES
The signal acquisition in GPS receivers is the first and very crucial process that may affect the overall performance of a navigation receiver. Acquisition program initiates a searching operation on received navigation signals to detect and identify the visible satellites. However, signal acquisition becomes a very challenging task in a degraded environment (i.e, dense urban) and the receiver may not be able to detect the satellites present in radio-vicinity, thus cannot estimate an accurate position solution. In such environments, satellite signals are attenuated and fluctuated due to fading introduced by multipath and NLOS reception. To perform signal acquisition in such degraded environments, larger data accumulation can be effective in enhancing SNR, which tradeoff huge computational load, prolonged acquisition time and high cost of receiver. This paper highlights the effects of fading on satellite signal acquisition in GPS receiver through variable data lengths and SNR comparison, and then develops a statistical relationship between satellite visibility and SNR. Furthermore it also analyzes/investigates the tradeoff between computation load and signal data length.

A low complexity peak to average power ratio (PAPR) reduction scheme for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems is proposed. All pass filters technique used PAPR is reduction but small amount of reduction, So use Selective Mapping (SLM) technique reduce PAPR and SNR increases.
This paper deals with the hardware implementation of base band (acquisition and tracking) modules of a
GPS receiver using system generator 9.2 has been tried out. The implementation will be tested on Lyrtech (small form factor-software defined radio) platform which consists of 3 layers. The upper layer is the radio frequency (1 GHz) layer, middle layer is the ADACMasterIII layer and the last is digital processing (DSP) layer. The data transfer between the FPGA Virtex-4SX35 and DSP module is done using a TMS320DM6446 Davinci processor. Generation of 17MHz Intermediate frequency has been done. The acquisition module based on parallel code phase search acquisition algorithm has been tried out. The results are being tested for correctness and accuracy. After this the tracking module will be implemented. The results will lead to the development of indigenous GPS receivers with single and multiple channels
within the same hardware with reconfiguration.
In this work, a highly linear Cascode CMOS LNA is presented. Linearity issues in RF receiver frontend are discussed, followed by an analysis of the specifications and requirements of a LNA through consideration of multi-standard LNA. Device non-linear characteristics cause linearity problems in the RF front-end system. To solve this problem, Post linearization technique for inductively degenerated L-deg common source Cascode Low Noise Amplifier is presented, which improves linearity performance with small gain loss and current consumption as consequence. The LNA presented has 1.0GHz - 3.2GHz frequency range designed using TSMC 0.18µm CMOS process. The linearized LNA achieves an IIP3 of 5.0 dBm, with P-1dB of -14 dBm, 13.8 dB gain max , NF 2.03dB and power utilization of 19.4 mWat 1.8 volt power supply Gaurav R. Agrawal | Leena A. The application wavelet transform algorithm in testing adc effective number o...ijcsit
In evaluating Analog to Digital Convertors, many parameters are checked for performance and error rate.
One of these parameters is the device Effective Number of Bits. In classical testing of Effective Number of
Bits, testing is based on signal to noise components ratio (SNR), whose coefficients are driven via
frequency domain (Fourier Transform) of ADC’s output signal. Such a technique is extremely sensitive to
noise and require large number of data samples. That is, longer and more complex testing process as the
device under test increases in resolutions. Meanwhile, a new time – frequency domain approach (known as
Wavelet transform) is proposed to measure and analyze Analog-to-Digital Converters parameter of
Effective Number of Bits with less complexity and fewer data samples.
Dynamic Beamforming Optimization for Anti-Jamming and Hardware Fault RecoveryJonathan Becker
In recent years there has been a rapid increase in the number of wireless devices for both commercial and defense applications. Such unprecedented demand has increased device cost and complexity and also added a strain on the spectrum utilization of wireless communication systems. This thesis addresses these issues, from an antenna system perspective, by developing new techniques to dynamically optimize adaptive beamforming arrays for improved anti-jamming and reliability.
Available frequency spectrum is a scarce resource, and therefore increased interference will occur as the wireless spectrum saturates. To mitigate unintentional interference, or intentional interference from a jamming source, antenna arrays are used to focus electromagnetic energy on a signal of interest while simultaneously minimizing radio frequency energy in directions of interfering signals. The reliability of such arrays, especially in commercial satellite and defense applications, can be addressed by hardware redundancy, but at the expense of increased volume, mass as well as component and design cost.
This thesis proposes the development of new models and optimization algorithms to dynamically adapt beamforming arrays to mitigate interference and increase hardware reliability. The contributions of this research are as follows. First, analytical models are developed and experimental results show that small antenna arrays can thwart interference using dynamically applied stochastic algorithms. This type of in-situ optimization, with an algorithm dynamically optimizing a beamformer to thwart interference sources with unknown positions, inside of a anechoic chamber has not been done before to our knowledge. Second, it is shown that these algorithms can recover from hardware failures and localized faults in the array. Experiments were performed with a proof-of-concept four-antenna array. This is the first hardware demonstration showing an antenna array with live hardware fault recovery that is adapted by stochastic algorithms in an anechoic chamber. We also compare multiple stochastic algorithms in performing both anti-jamming and hardware fault recovery. Third, we show that stochastic algorithms can be used to continuously track and mitigate interfering signals that continuously move in an additive white Gaussian noise wireless channel.
Digital Implementation of Costas Loop with Carrier RecoveryIJERD Editor
Demodulator circuit is a basic building block of wireless communication. Digital implementation of
demodulator is attracting more attention for the significant advantages of digital systems than analog systems.
The carrier signal extraction is the main problem in synchronous demodulation in design of demodulator based
on Software Defined Radio. When transmitter or receiver in motion, it is difficult for demodulator to generate
carrier signal same in frequency and phase as transmitter carrier signal due to Doppler shift and Doppler rate.
Here the digital implementation of Costas loop for QPSK demodulation in continuous mode is discussed with
carrier recovery using phase locked loop.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
