This document proposes a low complexity peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction scheme for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems using selective mapping (SLM). It describes how all pass filters can be used to generate alternative OFDM sequences with different phase rotations, reducing computational complexity compared to the conventional SLM method which uses inverse fast Fourier transforms. Simulation results show the proposed method using all pass filters with length U=2 provides over 4dB of PAPR reduction while maintaining similar bit error rate performance as conventional SLM.
PAPR REDUCTION OF OFDM SIGNAL BY USING COMBINED HADAMARD AND MODIFIED MEU-LAW...IJCNCJournal
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a technique which gives high quality of service (QOS) to the users by mitigating the fading signals as well as high data rates in multimedia services. However, the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) is a technical challenge that reduces the efficiency of RF power amplifiers. In this paper, we propose the combined Hadamard transform and modified meu-law companding transform method in order to lessen the effects of the peak-to-average power ratio of the
OFDM signal. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme reduces PAPR compared to other companding techniques as well as the Hadamard transform technique when used on its own.

This paper is concerned with the performance improvement of PAPR reduction of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal using amplitude clipping & filtering based design. Note that OFDM is one of the well adept multi-carrier multiplexing transmission scheme which has been implemented in long term evolution (LTE) downlink. Nonetheless peak to average power ratio (PAPR) is the more rattling problem with OFDM, consequently in this paper a reduction procedure of the PAPR by using amplitude clipping and filtering is proposed. Here we used IIR bandpass elliptic filter after amplitude clipping to
reduce the PAPR. The performance of the system in terms of bit error rate (BER) is also canvased as a new
filter based clipping method. Our results show that the proposed methodology of clipping method with the
IIR elliptic band pass filter significantly reduces the PAPR value.

OFDM is one of the multicarrier modulation technique used in various communication systems. In this paper a hybrid PAPR (peak to average power ratio) reduction technique for the OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) signal which combines a multiple symbol representations method with a signal clipping method is proposed. In multiple symbol representations alternative signaling points are used to represent one symbol and PAPR is further reduced with the clipping scheme. The performance of the hybrid scheme is compared with the partial transmit sequence which is one of the other PAPR reduction scheme. In partial transmit sequence the input data is divided in to disjoint blocks transformed in to time domain sequence and rotated by phase factors. Theoretical analysis and simulation results validate that the proposed scheme has the ability to provide large PAPR reduction, low bit error rate. Performance analysis is also done with the partial transmit sequence scheme.

A low complexity partial transmit sequence scheme for better papr reduction i...eSAT Journals
Abstract The main drawback of OFDM system is the high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) of the transmitted signals. Partial transmit sequence scheme is a promising algorithm to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). The Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) consist of several inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) operations and complicated calculations to obtain optimum phase sequence which results in increasing the computational complexity of PTS. A phase sequence applied to the PTS Scheme reduces its complexity but at the expense of slight degradation in PAPR reduction. In this paper, for further reduction of PAPR the peak clipping of the OFDM signal is introduced along with the PTS with new phase sequence scheme. Since clipping is one of the simplest techniques of PAPR reduction, it does not increase the complexity of the system much and a better PAPR reduction is obtained with the combined effect of clipping and PTS with New Phase Sequence. But the clipping technique introduce some distortion in the signal, however peak clipping of signal below a particular threshold can maintain the BER in the tolerable range. The clipping threshold selected will be different for different OFDM systems. Index Terms: OFDM, Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR), Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS), Clipping.

Impact of Clipping and Filtering on Peak to Average Power Ratio of OFDM Systemijsrd.com
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is an emerging field of research in the field of 4G broadband wireless communications due to its robustness against multipath fading and relatively simple implementation. Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) is the limiting factor for an OFDM system as it consists of large number of independent subcarriers as a result of which the amplitude of such a signal can have high peak values which degrades the system performance. Such a signal when amplified by a Power Amplifier without processing results spectral regrowth and intermodulation among subcarrier. Hence this non linearity destroys the orthogonally of the OFDM signal and introduces out-of-band radiation and in band distortions causing significant performance degradation. The clipping and filtering method is analysed which is an efficient and simple method to reduce the PAPR. We have shown the effects of clipping and filtering on the performance of OFDM, including the power spectral density, the crest factor, and the bit-error rate.
A Hybrid VLM Preceded SLM Technique Using Clipping and Filtering Method for P...IJERA Editor
MIMO-OFDM is an attractive interface for the next generation WLANs, WMAN, 4G and 5G mobile cellular
systems. However the performance of the MIMO-OFDM systems is affected by Peak to Average Power Ratio
(PAPR). PAPR is the main disadvantage associated with the MIMO-OFDM systems. So far, many techniques
have been proposed to reduce the value of PAPR but high PAPR for MIMO-OFDM systems is still a demanding
area and a different issue. In this paper, a hybrid VLM precoded SLM scheme using Clipping & Filtering has
been proposed to reduce PAPR in MIMO-OFDM systems. And it has been observed that the proposed scheme
has achieved a significant gain in PAPR reduction without increasing the system complexity and affecting the
error performance of the system.
Analysis of Reduction of PAPR by Linear Predictive Coding in OFDM AnuragSingh1049
The major challenge in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is to reduce high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) that leads to non linear distortion for the application of high power amplifier. PAPR is defined as the ratio between the maximum instantaneous power and its average power. In this paper, we have presented new PAPR reduction technique to reduce peak to average power ratio using Linear predicting coding (LPC) in OFDM system. In this paper, proposed technique show the significant reduction in PAPR without any harmful degradation in power spectral density (PSD), computational complexity (CC) and performance error of the system. This proposed method can be applied for any number of subcarrier and independent of modulation scheme under Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel.
Adaptive Clipping for PAPR Reduction in OFDMIJERA Editor
A new Technique “Adaptive Clipping” is introduced to reduce the Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) of OFDM system efficiently for wireless applications. In this technique, the threshold for clipping the signal is decided according to the peak size and number of peaks in the OFDM burst signal. A comparison is done between selective clipping and adaptive clipping and the results are shown in terms of Bit error rate (BER) and PAPR. Adaptive clipping offers nearly half a dB reduction in PAPR compared to selective clipping. With proposed adaptive clipping, PAPR of 3 dB is obtained with BER of 10-4 . For a particular set of signals where there are large number of peak variations, adaptive clipping is more efficient in terms of BER compared to selective clipping. The simulation of adaptive clipping is done with the MATLAB software and the BER is plotted. An IEEE 806.11 standard is used for OFDM signal Transmission.

Digital Implementation of Costas Loop with Carrier RecoveryIJERD Editor
Demodulator circuit is a basic building block of wireless communication. Digital implementation of
demodulator is attracting more attention for the significant advantages of digital systems than analog systems.
The carrier signal extraction is the main problem in synchronous demodulation in design of demodulator based
on Software Defined Radio. When transmitter or receiver in motion, it is difficult for demodulator to generate
carrier signal same in frequency and phase as transmitter carrier signal due to Doppler shift and Doppler rate.
Here the digital implementation of Costas loop for QPSK demodulation in continuous mode is discussed with
carrier recovery using phase locked loop.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

I. INTRODUCTION
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is multicarrier modulation technique, used in nearly all
new a popular wireless communication standards. OFDM transforms a frequency selective channel into large
number of parallel flat fading channels. Inter carrier interference (ICI) can be mitigated by preserving the
orthogonality between these parallel sub-channels. Inter carrier interference (ICI) can be mitigated by preserving
the orthogonality between these parallel sub-channels.
One of the severe drawbacks with OFDM systems, however, is the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of
transmitted signals. The high PAPR introduces intermodulation distortion and undesired out-of-band radiation
due to the nonlinearity of the high power amplifier (HPA). The distortion and radiation cause degradation of the
bit error rate (BER) and high adjacent channel interference, respectively.
To reduce the PAPR of an OFDM signal to date, various schemes attempting to reduce the PAPR have appeared
in the literature. The more common schemes include clipping and filtering , block coding , tone reservation and
injection, nonlinear companding transform schemes, a partial transmit sequence (PTS) scheme and selected
mapping (SLM) schemes. Of these schemes, the SLM scheme has been considered the most attractive one due
to its high PAPR reduction performance without incurring additional signal distortion. However the SLM
scheme has a disadvantage of high computational complexity due to its requirement of multiple inverse fast
Fourier transform (IFFT) modules.
The computational complexity of the SLM scheme becomes critical when a large number of subcarriers on the
order of thousand are used for multimedia transmission, e.g., Digital TV broadcasting in Europe, Japan, and
other regions. In this paper, a PAPR reduction scheme adopting all-pass filters instead of IFFT modules is
proposed to significantly reduce the computational complexity when a large number of subcarriers such as 2048
subcarriers are used for OFDM systems. The proposed scheme produces alternative OFDM sequences by
rotating the symbol phase using multiple all-pass filters, whereas the phase rotation of conventional SLM
schemes is performed with multiple complex multiplication modules with IFFT modules. Analysis results show
that the proposed PAPR reduction scheme can significantly decrease computational complexity over the SLM
scheme.
The remainder of this paper is organized as follows. In Section II, a All Pass Filter scheme is described. In
Section III, a new PAPR reduction scheme is proposed and its computational complexity is compared with that
of the conventional SLM scheme. In Section IV, simulation results are given in order to compare the PAPR
reduction performance of the proposed scheme with the conventional SLM scheme. Finally, conclusions are
given in Section V.

II. ALL PASS FILTER
An all-pass filter is a signal processing filter that passes all frequencies equally in gain, but changes
the phase relationship between various frequencies. It does this by varying its phase shift as a function of
frequency. Generally, the filter is described by the frequency at which the phase shift crosses 90° (i.e., when the
input and output signals go into quadrature – when there is a quarter wavelength of delay between them).
They are generally used to compensate for other undesired phase shifts that arise in the system, or for
mixing with an unshifted version of the original to implement a notch comb. They may also be used to convert
a mixed phase filter into a minimum phase filter with an equivalent magnitude response or an unstable filter into
a stable filter with an equivalent magnitude response. This implementation uses a high-pass filter at the non-
inverting input to generate the phase shift and negative feedback to compensate for the filter's attenuation.
At high frequencies, the capacitor is a short circuit, thereby creating a unity-gain voltage buffer (i.e., no
phase shift).
At low frequencies and DC, the capacitor is an open circuit and the circuit is an inverting amplifier (i.e.,
180 degree phase shift) with unity gain.
At the corner frequency ω=1/RC of the high-pass filter (i.e., when input frequency is 1/(2πRC)), the circuit
introduces a 90 degree shift (i.e., output is in quadrature with input; it is delayed by a quarter wavelength).
In fact, the phase shift of the all-pass filter is double the phase shift of the high-pass filter at its non-inverting
input.

III. SELECTIVE MAPPING
The SLM technique was first described by Bauml et al. In the SLM, from a number of copies that represent the
same in-formation, one with lowest PAPR is chosen for transmission. X is the OFDM data block, is the phase
vectors and is the modified data vectors in the frequency domain. where u= 1,2…U ,and N is length of X, also
the number of sub-carriers. Among the modified data blocks, the one with the lowest PAPR is selected for
transmission.
The amount of PAPR reduction for SLM depends on the number of phase sequences U and the design of the
phase sequences. After modulating the vectors to N sub-carriers separately, each OFDM frame represents the
same information. Then all D frames are trans-formed in to the time-domain using the IFFT and the one with the
lowest PAPR is selected for transmission. The block diagram of OFDM transmitter with SLM .
To recover the data exactly, the receiver has to know which vectors of the D vectors is used .therefore it is
necessary to transmit the number D of the vector as side in-formation to the receiver. As a result of selecting the
sequence to transmit after IFFT, SLM technique needs D IFFT operations for each OFDM frame. It makes the
system complicated. In addition, it’s a difficulty in SLM that how to transmit side information.

V. CONCLUSIONS
A new PAPR reduction scheme for OFDM systems was proposed in this paper. It was found that with simple
the proposed SLM scheme could significantly reduce the computational complexity, at the cost of slightly worse
PAPR reduction performance over the all-pass filters scheme, without BER performance degradation.
