Rhetorical Devices Used In The Death Of Benny Paret
In The Death of Benny Paret , the author uses rhetorical devices to give an apprehensive effect on the
readers because of the surprising tone, immense imagery, and the amount of detail to describe Benny
Paret s death. Firstly, the author uses a surprising tone to give the readers a suspenseful effect. The
amount of other rhetorical devices used help in giving the readers this effect. Griffith was
uncontrollable. This quote from the passage explains that Benny Paret was losing his fight and Griffith
was winning and the suspense builds up. Readers don t know if that fight is going to ever stop or what
will happen next. Just as important, there was an abundance of imagery throughout the passage to
bring the reader in with more to look for; to think about. ...he went down like a large ship which turns
on end and slides second by second into its grave. This quote explains imagery in a metaphor,
representing Paret as a ship. It also explains in detail of how he died in the form of how a ship sinks;
how Paret sunk to the ground. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were several details explaining the who Benny Paret was, his career and unfortunately his last
fight. And Paret? Paret died on his feet. As he took those eighteen punches something happened to
everyone who was in psychic range of the event. These few details has a big effect on readers who is
often already connected to the story. The reader already feels the suspense and now feels the relieved
but weak effect from learning that he

Virtual Organization Behavior
Virtual Organization Characteristics
From the definitions of virtual organization/team, it can be summarized that virtual organization/team
has four main characteristics which make it different from non virtual organization/team:
First, cross line, virtual organization/team is centralized with a few or without department. Business
environment change makes a company or organization should be more flexible in doing its activity.
When a company should produce a high quality product to meet their consumer needs, they could
collaborate with other companies to determine consumer needs. In this case, virtual organization/team
has an important role.
Second, resources and purpose sharing, virtual organization/team could facilitate someone with
innovative idea but has not enough resources. Amazon sells a lot of books but they do not really have
the books, they cooperate with other parties who have the books and then sell it via Amazon.
Third, geographic dispersion, refer to any physical dispersion of team members, such as different
geographic locations or different workplaces at the same geographic location, nationally or
internationally. Virtual organization/team could maximize the time difference advantage from its
member. When a US company develops a website they can work on it from morning to evening, and
their partner in the other part of the world (Asia, Africa, or Europe) will continue the development so
it could finished faster.
Fourth, impermanent member, one team formed

The Struggles Of Women s Equality
Historically, women had to fight for their rights to vote and the right to gain economic or personal
independence like men. Women have been subjected to unequal treatment and discrimination
regardless of their race, culture or socioeconomic status. From birth boys and girls, male and female
are expected by society to play certain roles based on gender, religions and other beliefs. Gender
stereotypes have enforced the difference between men and women, it labels women as weak,
submissive, they should be taking care of the household etc. Hence, most women lose opportunities
because they are perceived as vulnerable and unable to participate in certain activities. The struggles
of women s equality started in the 1800s where women in the United States wanted equal rights to
vote and have equal job opportunity like men. It is not right for one gender to be superior over the
other. Hence, women such as Susan B. Anthony who drafted The Declaration of Sentiments and
Resolutions demanded equality for women to be educated and gain employment. Cady Stanton along
with Susan Anthony formed the National Woman Suffrage Association, Lucy Stone and Henry
Blackwell amongst others formed the American Women Suffrage Association demanding voting rights
for women. The declaration of independence states that, all men are created equal and has the right to
life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (The Declaraton of Independence, 1776). With all the efforts
made throughout the years congress

What Caused The Stock Market Crash
Since the creation of stock exchanges in the 13th century, the stock market has played a vast role in
our history. It s the aggregation of buyers and sellers of stocks or shares; these may include securities
listed on a stock exchange as well as those only traded privately. The biggest crash in history took
place in 1929. Depression consumed the people and the economy was at its nadir. In 2008, another
crash took place. Still today we can look back and see how it has shaped the world in a negative way.
A stock market crash has been defined as a sudden dramatic decline of stock prices across a significant
cross section of a stock market, resulting in a significant loss of paper wealth. Crashes are caused
mainly by inadequate management of the stock market. The 1929 Stock Market crash was the result of
multiple economic disproportions and lack of organizational structure. Many people think that the
Great Depression was caused because of the crash; however, that is an entirely misled idea. The
depression took place just after the crash, meaning it was not really its cause but the spark to the fire.
Just before everything happened, the market was as high as it could ever be. ... Show more content on

Just as people could feel the side effects of the crash back in 1929, still today we can feel the effects of
the crash in 2008. When the recession occurred, about 9 million people had lost their jobs by 2009 in
the United States and housing prices had fell to their lowest point. It has been seven years since the
market has gone down that severely; however, it has recovered greatly since the crisis

Relationship Between Board Size And Firm Performance
.4 Discussion of Results
The results found in this study suggest that some of the relationships found during the literature
review can be confirmed. For example, the literature states that smaller boards of directors reduce the
coordination problems that lead to improved firm performance relative to larger boards of directors
(Kini et al, 1995; Yermack, 1996; Eisenberg et al, 1998). This study found significant empirical
evidence with the sample of FTSE 100 companies that this is the case which supports these findings.
It should be noted, that Haleblian and Finkelstein (1993) suggested sensibly that boards of directors
that are too small can also be hampered in their ability to monitor management particularly in complex
firms such as those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This study instead found, in some cases when Tobin s q was used as the measure of firm performance,
that there could be a significant negative relationship between the proportion of external directors and
firm performance. No such relationship was found when ROA used as the measure of firm
performance. These results indicate that the significant relationship found might be spurious.
Also, the review of the literature found evidence that there should be a positive relationship between
shareholder concentration in the hands of significant minority shareholders but no such relationship
was found in the sample of FTSE 100 companies used in this study. Even after this study attempted to
correct for some data problems by removing those companies within the dataset where the
shareholding was concentrated in the hands of significant majority shareholders and their related
parties, there was no statistically significant relationship between shareholder concentration and firm
performance.
There are several possible explanations for the lack of strong relationships in this study. The first
concerns the choice of variables to be used as proxies for measuring firm performance. This study
chose to use the return on assets and Tobin s q and found that the results differed significantly
depending on the choice

Financial Ratio Analysis Of Mytoys Company
The table above demonstrates the financial ratio analysis of MyToys company, the financial
performance of MyToys is not doing well. The primary reason is the company is still young and
intensely depend on the loan, but the sales revenue of the company is increase every year. Current
ratio indicates how liquidity the company pay off its obligations, in the case of MyToys, the current
ratio has somewhat decrease from 2014 to 2015. The higher the current ratio the company has, shows
that the company is more favorable. The debt ratio and debt to equity ratio of MyToys is high, means
the company almost need to sell off all of its assets to cover its debts. Having more than 0.5 shows the
company is in a risky situation. MyToys do depend more on the bank loan because it is still a new
grow company. In 2015, the company has reached the maximum limit of overdraft from the bank.
MyToys need to reduce its debts in the future in order to draw in more investors to invest in the

Martin Luther Research Paper
You don t need a sociology degree to understand movements calcify into institutions, then decay and
crumble. So as we near the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther s nailing 95 thesis to a church door,
why is the Reformation still a global movement?
In Africa today there are more than twice as many Lutherans than in the United States. Even in
America God continues to bring new people to faith and transform the lives of His followers
I m convinced the movement is fueled by a relationship. A quote of Luther started me down this path:
Though I lived as a religious leader without reproach, I felt, with the most disturbed conscience
imaginable, that I was a sinner before God. I did not love, indeed I hated the righteous God who
punishes sinners.
When I first read this quote I decided there is such a thing as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

People are born in sin but have no legitimate way to atone for those sins. Unfair treatment angers a lot
of people, especially people like Luther who desperately try to play by the rules.
I think the Roman Catholic teaching struck a much deeper chord in Luther. We all long for the
affirmation of our fathers. We also have a deep need for acceptance by our Heavenly Father.
According to the Church, Luther was never certain he would receive the favor of the Heavenly Father,
let alone enter heaven. This was devastating.
Much is made of the three solas of the Reformation: Scripture alone, Grace alone and Faith alone. I
am not convinced even when taken together these three were enough to fuel a movement that has
lasted almost half a millennium.
Instead, I think the three solas were indispensable as conditions for the catalyst of the movement.
Luther himself can show us the Reformation s spark. He spent a lifetime longing for acceptance by
God the Father, yet was convinced this is impossible. Salvation by God s grace through faith in Jesus
was a revelation to Luther. I mean this

Meaning Of Plato s Examined Life
Living an examined life means to constantly question our values and beliefs in order to be able to
ideally defend our ideas about how to live our lives. This questioning allows us to have an open mind
to new information that could change the way we look at and live our lives. Practicing living an
examined life comes with various obstacles. We may experience people surrounding us, for example
our neighbors, family members, turn against us, treat us and our ideas as threatening to the society.
Although we may have to face these difficulties, through questioning what we already know, we will
be able to acquire much more information, as well as build new ideas about those beliefs, which will
make us more knowledgeable. Through his Allegory of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An intelligent person who is filled with knowledge may have the correct answers to questions being
asked, rather than a person who possesses the right opinion . In the dialogue Meno, Plato explains the
difference, Socrates, is only that he who has knowledge will always be right; but he who has right
opinion will sometimes be right, sometimes not. (Meno np). The one who has the right opinion may
be answering a question with a guess, rather than make use of a truthful information because such one
does not possess the needed knowledge. Sometimes the response to a question through right opinion,
if the individual is lucky, may be correct; however, it is not always the case. A person with knowledge,
on the other hand, is able to proof his or her answer with facts and true information, which will
explain why he or she must be right. Possession of knowledge makes one a better person because one
can give true information, direction to those who seek it rather than guess and possibly give false
information to the

M. C. Escher Research Paper
A tessellation is when a shape is repeated over and over again, using transformations such as
translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations. M. C. Escher was an artist and mathematician who
made many types of art, but is most known for his tessellations. He was born in 1898 in the
Netherlands, and died at age 73 in 1972. His full name is Marutis Cornelis Escher. As a kid, he got bad
grades, but he was very creative and great at drawing. He went to college to study architecture, but
didn t do very well so he switched to decorative arts. When Escher went on a trip to Italy and Spain,
he met Jetta Umiker, whom he ended up marrying. He then had 3 sons named Giorgio, Arthur and Jan
and lived in Italy. 11 years later, he decided to leave Italy and move to Switzerland, because he wasn t
interested in Italian politics, and he didn t like that his son was forced to wear a Ballila uniform (an

Reproductive Rights Argumentative Analysis
Encompassing the specific points and pieces of the reproductive war that I have discussed thus far, I
believe that abortion and the reproductive rights umbrella is indeed a feminist issue. In an era when
reproductive rights are being especially combated, as they are in the present (Murray, 301) feminists
need to be clear and fervent about where we stand and what we are fighting for. Though perhaps a
very controversial opinion, I believe that pro life women are counterproductive to this fight. Jeanne
Mancini, the President of the biggest anti abortion event, the March for Life, claims that she has talked
to an substantial amount of women who have regretted having an abortion. Many of these women
label themselves as pro life feminists and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How is that honorable? In a lesser, subtler comparison to Mancini and the pro life feminists, that is
like saying that just because I regret getting a tattoo, I believe that no one should be able to get one. In
addition, the phrase pro life is often a misnomer. March for Life labels itself as pro life but to indeed
be pro life, the group in question needs to equally care about all life that is involved in a pregnancy.
This often is not the case, as the unborn child s needs are considered and the mother s are not, or not
as much. Whether it is a man, a woman, or a woman who has labeled herself a pro life feminist, they
take away personal bodily autonomy from women. To imply or outright claim that the rights of an
undeveloped fetus are greater than the rights of a woman to choose what happens in her own body is
absurd, and to assume that a woman is not capable of making an informed decision about her own
body is nothing more than misogyny, no matter who is against it. Therefore, abortion is absolutely a
feminist issue, as I believe it is impossible to simultaneously be a feminist and a fervent anti abortion

The Taming Of The Shrew By William Shakespeare
Many women do not like being controlled. In the past, women were oppressed because they were not
allowed to work and control aspects of their lifestyle, such as working themselves, rather they were
forced to marry and depend on their spouses. William Shakespeare chose to present this concept
through Katherina s character in the play The Taming of The Shrew. Throughout the play, Katherina is
seems to be untamable due to the manner in which she is first introduced, her attitude changes too
abruptly for it to be convincing, and that she is either putting on an act or she s just scared. In the first
scene when Katherina was introduced, it was made clear that she is not a submissive person; she is in
fact very abrasive. In the Elizabethan era, it is custom that if a family had two daughters the one that is
older would have to marry first. In this story, several men want to marry Katherina however she does
not want to be wed. During their first interaction with Katherina, her suitors are instantly aware of her
temper. Katherina then tells her father she does not want to be embarrassed in front of the men.
Hortensio makes a comment about her temper which Katherina responds to with I faith, sir, you shall
never need to fear. I wis it is not halfway to her heart (1.1.62 63). This shows that Katherina does not
have any intention of marrying any of the men interested in her. Katherina s decision not only affects
her, but her sister Bianca. Bianca is not able to marry anyone

Stanley Kubrick s Dr. Strangelove Essay
Review of Dr. Strangelove, Or: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
Stanley Kubrick is infamous for his witty films that satire governmental and societal actions though
history. In this film, Dr. Strangelove, Or: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964),
Kubrick is once again directing a film that is a biting, sardonic comedy that pokes fun at the nuclear
fears of the 1950s. The screenplay for the movie was written by Stanley Kubrick and Terry Southern,
and was based on the novel Red Alert written by Peter George. In this film, which is classified as a
black comedy/fantasy, technology runs amok and takes over society and mankind. The irony of the
situation, however, became apparent when shortly after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another such loaded name is Jack D. Ripper, which is the name of the US Air Force s Strategic Air
Command s Commanding Officer. The name is symbolic of an infamous English serial killer. By
placing this name with a senior commander in the US Military, Kubrick is attempting to show the
bloodlust that he perceived the US Military s higher levels to have during that time towards the USSR.
Yet another suggestive name is the name of another General in the US Military. This symbolism is
slightly more subtle, because buck signifies a male animal, and turgid is a word meaning swollen. This
name shows Kubrick s suggestion that the US Military had an inflated sense of self worth during this
era. These names serve to both show the director s opinions of individuals and systems of the time
period, but also makes the connection in the viewer s mind from the male obsession with sex to the
male obsession with war.
The next vehicle Kubrick uses to convey his thoughts on the matter is distortion of history. This is not,
however, a vulgar distortion of history intended to misinform the viewer. Instead it is a purposeful
distortion of history through which Kubrick can present a hypothetical situation in order to get a point
across. In factual history, nothing of the sort ever happened as it is portrayed in the movie. In fact,

Hypothesis and Research Question Essay example
Research questions are formulated in a study to inquire about variables, both independent and
dependent variables, and the relationship between them. Research questions are categorized into two,
that is, qualitative and quantitative research questions. Qualitative questions are used in qualitative
research like case studies, surveys and action research where the approach is non numerical and
analyses special phenomena that occur in nature. Quantitative research on the other hand is more of a
systematic approach with measurable numerical quantities that go through analysis to prove a
hypothesis. Finally, the research hypothesis is either approved or disapproved with regards to the
results of the analysis (Laureate Online Education B.V. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It must be logical, and provide a concrete base for any differences between the variables. It must also
be simple and clear.
A hypothesis can state the following: there exists a positive relationship between employee
performance and flexible working hours. Whereas a research question could generally be: do flexible
working hours affect workers productivity? You can clearly see that the hypothesis states clearly and it
is more specific in its prediction unlike the research question (eNotes.com, Inc 2011).
Hypothesis is typically used in quantitative research only. Moreover, when a question poses an inquiry
on the relationship between two variables, a hypothesis is a statement declarative in nature of the
relationship between different variables (Pajares 2007). A researcher chooses whether to use a
question or a hypothesis depending on the purpose of the research, its objectives, the methodology for
the research and the preference of the audience to receive the research. A researcher must be able to
interpret the final outcome with reference to the research questions or the hypothesis used (Pajares
2007). A research requires a minimum of two hypotheses namely a null and an alternative hypothesis.
So, somebody can make a certain observation and come up with a hypothesis about how and why a
phenomenon occurs the way it is. Hypothesis could be

apart from the extra cost and stress in deploying applications in a non terminal services environment,
another massive advantage provided by terminal services is Application updating, in the case of a line
of business application that requires frequent updating and repairs, because it is only carried out on a

because it supports the use of thin clients or older hardware to be used as terminal clients, which to

benefits of terminal services include:
It improves performance for users connecting from a remote location with bandwidth constraint
A more consistent experience can be provided to mobile users
Its centralized management allows for a highly controlled environment

bodyguards at Royan, then at Barbizon, and through secret entry into Paris (he was not allowed there,
officially), he was able to meet with various political European allies. In 1935, Trotsky moved to
Norway following a rescinding of his French asylum. He then lived with a friend (Konrad Knudsen)

welcome from Mexican President Lazaro Cardenas. He lived in Mexico City with Diego Rivera, a
painter, and his wife, Frida Kahlo, with whom he had an affair. Trotsky

Psychological Trauma Case Study
Care Plan Evaluation
Milestone One: Outline of Case Analysis Needs
A. Assess the impact of physical trauma on the children and family.
The family of Anamalia has undergone both physical and psychological trauma as can be seen in the
case study. Eloni and Kolomalu have both faced physical trauma. The short term effects include the
injuries that Kolomalu may get from the physical abuse of Eloni as well as injuries that Eloni faced
from his stepfather s abuse. The long term effects of physical trauma, according to Brand et al. (2017),
may include drug and substance use as can be seen in the case of Eloni. On the other hand, anger
outbursts and detaching emotions from actions and thoughts may also be experienced. In the case of

John Donne and W; T Comparative Essay
A text is essentially a product of its context, as its prevailing values are inherently derived by the
author from society. However, the emergence of post modern theories allows for audience
interpretation, thus it must be recognised that meaning in texts can be shaped and reshaped.
Significantly, this may occur as connections between texts are explored. These notions are reflected in
the compostion of Edson s W;t and Donne s poetry as their relationship is established through
intertextual references, corresponding values and ideas and the use of language features. Edson

I became very interested in Greek history after visiting the display of papyrology. The papyrology
collection at the graduate library at the University of Michigan displays some ancient artifacts of the
4th century and even older showing us what life would of been like in those times. In this exhibit there
was a wooden tablet with school exercises from Egypt used in the 4th century. The wooden tablet was
found in an unknown provenance of Egypt. This extraordinary tablet was used as a part of elementary
Greek school exercises. The tablet features the alphabet written out in regular and reverse order, on the

The True Meaning Of Love In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
In Shakespeare s romantic and powerful play Romeo and Juliet, the two main characters, Romeo
Montague and Juliet Capulet, share a love at first sight moment at a very young age; in no time, their
bond becomes unbreakable. Shakespeare clearly and eloquently emphasizes their love throughout the
play by using poetic writing and literary devices to show how these two come together and their
attraction becomes stronger as the play progresses. Today, most young loves seem to not get the true
meaning of love that Shakespeare so strongly poses in Romeo and Juliet and think that just being
together for a long time or having a great deal of pleasure is considered love . The passionate love that
both Romeo and Juliet experience at such a young age through Shakespeare s writing seems
outlandish to most young, immature readers today; however, although rare, with responsibility,
maturity, and true affection, such love is still possible in this day and age. Today, love is such a
commonly used word it almost feels as if people do not even realize what they are mean when they
use the word. People seem to use the term for not just their own lovers or family members the main
things that we should love but materialistic things such as phones, presents, and other rather
meaningless temporary things in our everyday lives. People all over the world hear other people
saying I love this and I love that, and do not recognize that they do not know what they are truly
saying.

Piano Concerto Analysis
The piano concerto in the 1800s was still very standard. By 1850, the piano was still being used in a
conventional manner. The two Brahms piano concerti are demonstrative of Brahms employing a
classical, conservative style. The first concerto is in a traditional three movements, with a long
orchestral introduction, a slow second movement, and a rondo finale. The second concerto came
decades later and is in four movements. In the first movement, the piano interrupts the horn solo that
begins the piece. The second movement is a scherzo. The slow third movement has a cello solo
beginning the movement, giving a prominent role to the orchestra, not just the piano. The final
movement goes back to tradition. Both concerti are exceedingly long, clocking in around fifty
minutes.
Tchaikovsky also wrote all three piano concerti post 1850. These pieces also demonstrate the
influence of nationalism, showing distinctively Russian themes. The Second Concerto, similar to
Brahms, features a violin and cello solo in the second movement, creating a piano trio amongst the
greater orchestration. The Third Concerto was originally a symphony but completed as a one
movement work for piano and orchestra.
Saint Saens wrote five concerti for piano, in addition to several other programmatic pieces for piano
and orchestra, including Wedding Cake and Africa. This was a divergence in form from the standard
concerti, creating one movement works where both piano and orchestra were featured, rather than

Religion
Not only did the Portuguese influence Brazil about languages, but also religion. The Portuguese
brought over their religion which was Roman Catholic. About 64% of the population ascribes to the
Roman Catholic faith. Other religions in Brazil included: other Catholic religions, Protestant,
Christians, Spiritism, and others. Only 8% of the population ascribe to no religion of any kind (Central
Intelligence Agency, n.d.).
Diversity
Brazil has a rich culture with a unique blend of cultural variations. Brazil is even seen as one of the
world s most varied and diverse countries. There is a mixture of Indian, African, and European blood.
There are currently more than 190 million people in Brazil. Half of the population is white, while 40%
are mixed black and white. About 10% are black.
Crime often haunts the country of Brazil. Brazil has several issues with crime. Some of the most
common crimes include muggings, robbing, kidnappings, and gang violence. Another serious problem
is the corruption in the law enforcement divisions. Many people will not report any incidents to the
police because of fear ( Brazil, n.d.).
Cultural Variations
The Brazilian have a class system, where discrimination of skin color occurs daily. Those with darker
skin are typically disadvantaged. Class is also determined by economic status. Those in the middle and
upper classes often have little to no contact with the lower classes. The richest 10% of Brazilians have

Based on the provided documents, the conclusion that can be made is that Lewis and Clark were not
respectful to the Native Americans because not only did they kill members of their tribe, but they
wiped out their culture as a whole. In document A, Thomas Jefferson, the current President at the time,

SCAP, viewed educational reform as another way to decentralize Japan (McClain 548). In the fall of
1946 SCAP placed a full report before a Japanese commission (McClain 548). As result, jurisdiction
over the school system shifted from the Ministry of Education to elected prefectural school boards.
These school board were given the power to select teachers, decide texts, and set the curriculum
(McClain 549). The prewar multi track school system was traded in for an American style single track
school system (McClain 549). The American school system included six years of elementary school,
three years of junior high school, three years of high school, and four year colleges (McClain 549).
Alongside the structural alterations, SCAP officials addressed the educational philosophy.
Subsequently, in 1947 the Japanese government introduced the Fundamental Law of Education, which
declared, that the primary goal of the educational system was to esteem individual dignity and
endeavor to bring up people who love truth and peace (McClain 549). As SCAP was rebuilding the
educational system, the committee was empowering the Japanese women. In 1945, when SCAP

Tuberculosis Or Tb Is Caused By Mycobacterium Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis or TB is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Mycobacteria are aerobic bacteria,
which do not form spores and are non motile. They are curved, intracellular rods, and have cell walls
made of glycolipids and phospholipidglycans that protect them from lysosomal attacks. TB is one of
the world s deadliest diseases. Approximately one out of three people worldwide are infected; in 2014,
9.6 million people were diagnosed with TB and there were 1.5 million deaths (CDC, 2014). This
disease is highly contagious, and although the number of cases reported has decreased, the decrease
was smaller than in previous years. New strains of drug resistant TB pose a threat to the global
population as a whole; less than half of those diagnosed with drug resistant TB are successfully cured.
Humans are the only known carrier of Tuberculosis; it is spread from person to person through aerosol
droplets released into the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, speaks, or sings. The infection
cannot be spread by: shaking someone s hand, sharing food or drink, touching bed linens or toilet
seats, sharing toothbrushes, or kissing (CDC, 2014). One cough from an infected individual can
produce 3,000 infected droplets and it only takes ten bacilli to initiate an infection (Herchline, 2015).
Since the disease is spread through the air, micro epidemics are common in closed communities such
as hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, submarines, and on transcontinental flights.

Compare and Contrast Two Methods for Achieving Attitude...
Attitudes refer to one s evaluations of the social world: others, objects and ideas. These overall
evaluations can be positive, negative, or neutral, vary in their extremity and be based on a variety of
information (Tesser and Martin, 1996; Petty, Wheeler, and Tormala, 2003 ). A popular
conceptualization of the attitude construct, the tripartite theory, holds that there are three primary types
of information in which attitudes can be based (Breckler, 1984; Rosenberg Hovland, 1960; Zanna
Rempel, 1988) : cognitions or beliefs, affect or feelings and actions or behaviour. As defined by
Richard Perloff, persuasion is the process which moulds and shapes attitudes. It is through persuasion

While a limitation of the ingratiation technique is that flattery and the degree of flattery will more than
likely have varying affects depending on the individual .
McGuire and Papageogis proposed forewarning targets of the persuasive intent of a message might
produce inhibition of persuasion through counter arguments (1962p127AAC). Hass and Gracly, found
that this is only particularly effective if there is a time delay between warning and message which
allows for cognitive processes to actively generate a counter argument (1975). Thus, if the target were
perhaps familiar with the door in the face technique or simply inferred a second request may be likely,
and there was a delay between the unrealistic and realist request, the persuasion attempt is likely to be
inhibited.
Additionally this cognitive processing may inhibit the ingratiation technique if the targets need for
cognition (NFC) is high. Studies have shown that participants high in NFC were generally unaffected
by the persuaders likeability. This is argued to be a consequence of their engagement with more

Physics of the Golf Drive Essay
This paper examines the physics involved in driving a golf ball off the tee. The objective of a drive is
to achieve the greatest distance while leaving the golf ball in the middle of the fairway. Several factors
will be considered in achieving the longest, and most accurate drive. The factors include calculating
the velocity of the golf ball after the club and ball collide, the mass of the club head, launch angle, the
shape of the club face, and finding the optimal golf ball.
Intuition tells us that the larger the velocity of the club head at impact with the golf ball, the larger the
velocity of the golf ball after the impact. To calculate the velocity of the golf ball we need to consider
the relationship between the velocity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using the principle of conservation of momentum:
2) MVi + mvi = MVf + mvf where M is the mass of the club head, and m is the mass of the golf ball.
The unknowns in the equations will be the final velocities of the golf ball and club head, so first
eliminate one of the final velocities in equation 1 and substitute into equation 2.
3) Vf = vf e(Vi vi) sub into equation 2
4) MVi + mvi = M[vf e(Vi vi)] + mvf
Since the golf ball is originally at rest, vi = 0, solving for final velocity of golf ball yields:
5) vf = [MVi(1 + e)] / (M + m)
Using similar algebra steps to solve for the final velocity of the club head yields:
6) Vf = Vi(M me) / (M + m)
You can use these results and the fact that potential energy at the collision point is equal to zero to
calculate the energy lost in the collision.
7) W = (0.5MVf2 + 0.5mvf2 0.5MVi2)
Our objective in driving a golf ball down the fairway is to keep it as straight as possible and to drive it
as far as possible. It is therefore logical to ask what mass of a club head would give the longest drive?
From equation 5 we found that the velocity of the ball after impact is given by:
5) vf = [MVi(1 + e)] / (M + m)
From this equation, we can see that the velocity of the ball should increase if we increase the velocity
of our swing, the elasticity of the ball, or the mass of the club head.
We should also recognize that increasing

Essay on Working in Groups and Social Loafing
Social loafing is the effect that people will exert less effort if they are working in a collective
environment. Working in groups is an integral part of everyday life because it happens in almost every
context whether it is sports teams, organizational groups, project groups and even juries. Therefore it
is important to understand the underlying factors that influence this construct. The current research
composed of 20 participants, investigated the social loafing effect of two working conditions:
Coactive and Collective. It was hypothesized that collective groups would have significantly lower
scores than coactive and the results supported this prediction strongly as there was a significant
difference between the groups. These results ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore it is important to understand the factors that motivate or demotivate individuals in those
contexts in order to improve the collective outcomes that could generally be critiqued as unreliable or
invalid due to the social loafing effect. Previous studies have indicated that the type of cognitive task
performed mediates the effect social loafing. For example in challenging tasks that involved
brainstorming or generating an ideas, the work teams had an opportunity to contribute their own
unique ideas that made it more likely that they suffered consequences of social loafing (Robbins,
1995). Personal involvement has been said to mediate the effects of social loafing. This is a situation
where the subjects have intrinsic value or personal meaning that play an important role in the
participants lives (Brickner et al., 1986) As a result, high involvement subjects produced more
favourable thoughts whereas low involvement did not. Weldon and Gargano (1988) suggested that
anonymity is associated with group performance. Basically, the larger the group the more difficult it is
to monitor individual performance thus individual efforts are unknown and they are free to loaf
without fear of social judgment (Weldon Gargano, 1988). Therefore it is consistent to say that
although social loafing is expected to occur in most collective tasks, this can be decreased or even
eliminated if the group performance is being compared to other

Through the reading of Temples and Ceremonies we are informed that all people engage in sacrifice.
In fact All people engaged in auto sacrifice at some point in their lives, usually to petition the gods for
agricultural or human fertility (MAI Reader, 77). This connects to the theme in the myth of people
committing acts of sacrifice in order to fill obligations for their well being we can deduce that since all
people engaged in...sacrifice (MAI, 77) that people within the Aztec society viewed sacrifice as a duty
and the norm . Carassaco s text elaborates on the concept of the reasoning and act of sacrifice.
Ancestors carrying out sky watching, prayer, ceremonies, and ritual sacrifices to their gods. (Carrasco,
26) This imposes that the Aztecs sacrifices were solely for their gods and their benefit. When the
Spanish came to conquer the Aztecs they too realized the sacrifice occurring within the society. Bernal
de Castillo one of Hernan Cortez s men recorded in a journal his personal experience with asking
about sacrifice. Then Diaz del Castillo added a provocative and enigmatic passage about human
sacrifice and cannibalism in relation to the feast (Carrasco, 6). This shows that people (even outsiders)
were well aware of the significance of sacrifice within the Aztec society. We also see record from
another first hand account of the Aztecs and their relationship to sacrifice. Bernardino de Sahagun
writings states that the Aztecs carried out human sacrifice within a large, more complex ceremonial
system in which a tremendous amount of energy, wealth and time was spent (Carrasco, 63). This
shows how crucial sacrifice was within the Aztec

Her economic policies were another success for Thatcher s regime. Thatcher s policies were
monumental changes for Britain. Privatisation and deregulation were famous changes implemented by
Thatcher. The policy of Privatisation has been called a crucial ingredient of Thatcherism . After the
1983 election the sale of state utilities accelerated; more than ÂŁ29 billion was raised from the sale of
nationalised industries, and another ÂŁ18 billion from the sale of council houses. The process of
privatisation, especially the preparation of nationalised industries for privatisation, was associated
with marked improvements in performance, particularly in terms of labour productivity. Some of the
privatised industries including gas, water, and electricity, were natural monopolies for which
privatisation involved little increase in competition. The privatisation allowed people to become more
involved in the buying of shares in companies. Although this did not work as well as Thatcher would
have hoped as many of the richer part of society bought as many shares at they could. Many people
denounced this policy as an Elitist policy. The privatisation of public companies was combined with

Texoil
Teaching Notes
By Stephen B. Goldberg
Texoil is a two party, quantified transactional negotiation with integrative potential. The owners of a
service station would like to sell their station, and a large oil and gas company would like to buy it.
The stations owners are tired of the responsibilities of ownership and want to take a two year sailing
trip around the world, while they are still young enough to enjoy such a trip. The oil and gas company
is in the midst of a strategic expansion, buying independent service stations, and turning them into
mini service marts.

4. Ask if revealing didn t make them feel vulnerable. The point of this line of questioning is to help
students discover the kind of information that provides a basis for creating value, (i.e., not information
about bottom line, but about interests and priorities).
5. The question about feeling vulnerable raises the issue of trust. Ask whether trust was established,
and how. Generally, trust results from the process of reciprocal information sharing, and proposals that
are responsive to information shared.
To make the job offer, either the Texoil representative must reveal information about Texoil s long
term strategy, and/or the station owner must reveal plans for a two year sabbatical.
There are a number of other things that can be added to make the bargaining zone overlap, including
health care, oil and gas for the trip, a line of credit for boat repairs, and putting TEXOIL on the hull or
sails.
All of these creative ideas, that create value because they are of low cost to one party and high value
to the other party, require information to be discovered.
6. Which agreements are better than others? We usually do not point out particular agreements, but
speak generally. Better agreements in terms of value creation are ones that have many of the features
listed above. Better agreements in terms of value claiming are ones where Texoil pays less than
$500,000 cash and it gives the job and other items,

How Does Hamlet React To Uncertainty
In William Shakespeare s play, Hamlet , he communicates that people react to certainty and
uncertainty in different ways. Not only can it affect the people around them, but it can affect their own
lives as well. For some people, the doubt could get to their head and cause an anxious response where
it could lead to a destructive path for themselves and can really hurt the people they care about most.
This is evident with Hamlet, when his father dies and his ghost tells Hamlet that Claudius was the one
who murdered him. Hamlet became uncertain if the ghost was actually his father s or an evil spirit.
However, this leads him to find out if Claudius really was the murderer which in turn lead to the death
of Polonius and eventually Laertes. While Claudius was fake praying, Hamlet was uncertain if he
should kill the new king right there as he thought he may go to hell for killing someone, which
eventually stopped him from going through with it. When he went to see his own mother, Polonius
was hiding. but when he calls out for help, Hamlet accidentally killed him. After the death of Polonius,
Laertes made his way back to get revenge for his father who he thought was killed by the king. During
this destructive path, Hamlet had sent a letter to England pretending to be the king to get his two best
friends killed after being betrayed by them. Finally, they get to the duel and with uncertainty again,
kills Laertes with a poisoned rapier before getting justice for Old Hamlet. He

I would tread the waters of global expansion and would first expand with our neighbors to the south,
Mexico. Some of the economic issues that I would run into would be the low income revenue that
families in Mexico face. The infrastructure in Mexico is well developed in major cities but that is
about it. Other cities have poor to non existent infrastructure. The way I would mitigate these issues
would be place my businesses in tourist cities (I.E. Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Quintana Roo, Monterrey,
and Etc.) and international airports.
The social culture difference that I would have to take into consideration are that many Mexicans only
speak English. I would have to get bilingual workers that spoke both Spanish and English. I would
also take into consideration the narco culture that they are currently living in. Many drug gangs are
running the country and I would have to mitigate that so my workers would be safe.
Technological issues would be minimal. Mexico is well off when it comes to internet technology.
Almost every home in major cities now have Wi Fi connection. My business would also be able to
provide this service. They also have cell phone service readily available in these major cities. I would
have minimal political legal issues. That is because of the North

  • 3. Virtual Organization Behavior Virtual Organization Characteristics From the definitions of virtual organization/team, it can be summarized that virtual organization/team has four main characteristics which make it different from non virtual organization/team: First, cross line, virtual organization/team is centralized with a few or without department. Business environment change makes a company or organization should be more flexible in doing its activity. When a company should produce a high quality product to meet their consumer needs, they could collaborate with other companies to determine consumer needs. In this case, virtual organization/team has an important role. Second, resources and purpose sharing, virtual organization/team could facilitate someone with innovative idea but has not enough resources. Amazon sells a lot of books but they do not really have the books, they cooperate with other parties who have the books and then sell it via Amazon. Third, geographic dispersion, refer to any physical dispersion of team members, such as different geographic locations or different workplaces at the same geographic location, nationally or internationally. Virtual organization/team could maximize the time difference advantage from its member. When a US company develops a website they can work on it from morning to evening, and their partner in the other part of the world (Asia, Africa, or Europe) will continue the development so it could finished faster. Women have been subjected to unequal treatment and discrimination regardless of their race, culture or socioeconomic status. From birth boys and girls, male and female are expected by society to play certain roles based on gender, religions and other beliefs. Gender stereotypes have enforced the difference between men and women, it labels women as weak, submissive, they should be taking care of the household etc. Hence, most women lose opportunities because they are perceived as vulnerable and unable to participate in certain activities. The struggles of women s equality started in the 1800s where women in the United States wanted equal rights to vote and have equal job opportunity like men. It is not right for one gender to be superior over the other. Hence, women such as Susan B. Anthony who drafted The Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions demanded equality for women to be educated and gain employment. Cady Stanton along with Susan Anthony formed the National Woman Suffrage Association, Lucy Stone and Henry Blackwell amongst others formed the American Women Suffrage Association demanding voting rights for women. The declaration of independence states that, all men are created equal and has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (The Declaraton of Independence, 1776). • 5. What Caused The Stock Market Crash Since the creation of stock exchanges in the 13th century, the stock market has played a vast role in our history. It s the aggregation of buyers and sellers of stocks or shares; these may include securities listed on a stock exchange as well as those only traded privately. The biggest crash in history took place in 1929. Depression consumed the people and the economy was at its nadir. In 2008, another crash took place. Still today we can look back and see how it has shaped the world in a negative way. A stock market crash has been defined as a sudden dramatic decline of stock prices across a significant cross section of a stock market, resulting in a significant loss of paper wealth. Crashes are caused mainly by inadequate management of the stock market. The 1929 Stock Market crash was the result of multiple economic disproportions and lack of organizational structure. Many people think that the Great Depression was caused because of the crash; however, that is an entirely misled idea. The depression took place just after the crash, meaning it was not really its cause but the spark to the fire. Just before everything happened, the market was as high as it could ever be. ... • 6. Relationship Between Board Size And Firm Performance .4 Discussion of Results The results found in this study suggest that some of the relationships found during the literature review can be confirmed. For example, the literature states that smaller boards of directors reduce the coordination problems that lead to improved firm performance relative to larger boards of directors (Kini et al, 1995; Yermack, 1996; Eisenberg et al, 1998). This study found significant empirical evidence with the sample of FTSE 100 companies that this is the case which supports these findings. It should be noted, that Haleblian and Finkelstein (1993) suggested sensibly that boards of directors that are too small can also be hampered in their ability to monitor management particularly in complex firms such as those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This study instead found, in some cases when Tobin s q was used as the measure of firm performance, that there could be a significant negative relationship between the proportion of external directors and firm performance. No such relationship was found when ROA used as the measure of firm performance. These results indicate that the significant relationship found might be spurious. Also, the review of the literature found evidence that there should be a positive relationship between shareholder concentration in the hands of significant minority shareholders but no such relationship was found in the sample of FTSE 100 companies used in this study. Even after this study attempted to correct for some data problems by removing those companies within the dataset where the shareholding was concentrated in the hands of significant majority shareholders and their related parties, there was no statistically significant relationship between shareholder concentration and firm performance. There are several possible explanations for the lack of strong relationships in this study. The first concerns the choice of variables to be used as proxies for measuring firm performance. So as we near the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther s nailing 95 thesis to a church door, why is the Reformation still a global movement? In Africa today there are more than twice as many Lutherans than in the United States. Even in America God continues to bring new people to faith and transform the lives of His followers I m convinced the movement is fueled by a relationship. A quote of Luther started me down this path: Though I lived as a religious leader without reproach, I felt, with the most disturbed conscience imaginable, that I was a sinner before God. According to the Church, Luther was never certain he would receive the favor of the Heavenly Father, let alone enter heaven. This was devastating. Much is made of the three solas of the Reformation: Scripture alone, Grace alone and Faith alone. I am not convinced even when taken together these three were enough to fuel a movement that has lasted almost half a millennium. Instead, I think the three solas were indispensable as conditions for the catalyst of the movement. Luther himself can show us the Reformation s spark. He spent a lifetime longing for acceptance by God the Father, yet was convinced this is impossible. Salvation by God s grace through faith in Jesus was a revelation to Luther. I mean this ... We may experience people surrounding us, for example our neighbors, family members, turn against us, treat us and our ideas as threatening to the society. Reproductive Rights Argumentative Analysis Encompassing the specific points and pieces of the reproductive war that I have discussed thus far, I believe that abortion and the reproductive rights umbrella is indeed a feminist issue. In an era when reproductive rights are being especially combated, as they are in the present (Murray, 301) feminists need to be clear and fervent about where we stand and what we are fighting for. Though perhaps a very controversial opinion, I believe that pro life women are counterproductive to this fight. Jeanne Mancini, the President of the biggest anti abortion event, the March for Life, claims that she has talked to an substantial amount of women who have regretted having an abortion. Many of these women label themselves as pro life feminists and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How is that honorable? In a lesser, subtler comparison to Mancini and the pro life feminists, that is like saying that just because I regret getting a tattoo, I believe that no one should be able to get one. In addition, the phrase pro life is often a misnomer. March for Life labels itself as pro life but to indeed be pro life, the group in question needs to equally care about all life that is involved in a pregnancy. This often is not the case, as the unborn child s needs are considered and the mother s are not, or not as much. Whether it is a man, a woman, or a woman who has labeled herself a pro life feminist, they take away personal bodily autonomy from women. To imply or outright claim that the rights of an undeveloped fetus are greater than the rights of a woman to choose what happens in her own body is absurd, and to assume that a woman is not capable of making an informed decision about her own body is nothing more than misogyny, no matter who is against it. Therefore, abortion is absolutely a feminist issue, as I believe it is impossible to simultaneously be a feminist and a fervent anti abortion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Taming Of The Shrew By William Shakespeare Many women do not like being controlled. In the past, women were oppressed because they were not allowed to work and control aspects of their lifestyle, such as working themselves, rather they were forced to marry and depend on their spouses. William Shakespeare chose to present this concept through Katherina s character in the play The Taming of The Shrew. Throughout the play, Katherina is seems to be untamable due to the manner in which she is first introduced, her attitude changes too abruptly for it to be convincing, and that she is either putting on an act or she s just scared. In the first scene when Katherina was introduced, it was made clear that she is not a submissive person; she is in fact very abrasive. In the Elizabethan era, it is custom that if a family had two daughters the one that is older would have to marry first. In this story, several men want to marry Katherina however she does not want to be wed. During their first interaction with Katherina, her suitors are instantly aware of her temper. Katherina then tells her father she does not want to be embarrassed in front of the men. Hortensio makes a comment about her temper which Katherina responds to with I faith, sir, you shall never need to fear. I wis it is not halfway to her heart (1.1.62 63). You can clearly see that the hypothesis states clearly and it is more specific in its prediction unlike the research question (eNotes.com, Inc 2011). Hypothesis is typically used in quantitative research only. Moreover, when a question poses an inquiry on the relationship between two variables, a hypothesis is a statement declarative in nature of the relationship between different variables (Pajares 2007). A researcher chooses whether to use a question or a hypothesis depending on the purpose of the research, its objectives, the methodology for the research and the preference of the audience to receive the research. A researcher must be able to interpret the final outcome with reference to the research questions or the hypothesis used (Pajares 2007). • 26. The True Meaning Of Love In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet In Shakespeare s romantic and powerful play Romeo and Juliet, the two main characters, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, share a love at first sight moment at a very young age; in no time, their bond becomes unbreakable. Shakespeare clearly and eloquently emphasizes their love throughout the play by using poetic writing and literary devices to show how these two come together and their attraction becomes stronger as the play progresses. Today, most young loves seem to not get the true meaning of love that Shakespeare so strongly poses in Romeo and Juliet and think that just being together for a long time or having a great deal of pleasure is considered love . The passionate love that both Romeo and Juliet experience at such a young age through Shakespeare s writing seems outlandish to most young, immature readers today; however, although rare, with responsibility, maturity, and true affection, such love is still possible in this day and age. Today, love is such a commonly used word it almost feels as if people do not even realize what they are mean when they use the word. People seem to use the term for not just their own lovers or family members the main things that we should love but materialistic things such as phones, presents, and other rather meaningless temporary things in our everyday lives. People all over the world hear other people saying I love this and I love that, and do not recognize that they do not know what they are truly saying. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Origins Of The Internet And Future Developments The Origins of the Internet and Future Developments Tamara Smith Southern New Hampshire University IT 505 The internet has grown from a few nodes to a massive interconnecting system that helped to connect millions of people. The global reach of the internet and its ability to expand at an exponential rate, makes the internet one of the biggest tools created for commercial use. This paper will focus on how the internet was started and how it has developed since the start, growing and changing from the ARPANET into the internet of today. The internet has developed since its conception to include not only computers but mobile devices as well to connect people and expand the global presence for businesses and their ability to reach millions through online advertisements and sales. The internet was started as a concept with the help of the government to help the flow of communication to the computer science research community. J.C.R. The two Brahms piano concerti are demonstrative of Brahms employing a classical, conservative style. The first concerto is in a traditional three movements, with a long orchestral introduction, a slow second movement, and a rondo finale. The second concerto came decades later and is in four movements. In the first movement, the piano interrupts the horn solo that begins the piece. The second movement is a scherzo. The slow third movement has a cello solo beginning the movement, giving a prominent role to the orchestra, not just the piano. The final movement goes back to tradition. Both concerti are exceedingly long, clocking in around fifty minutes. Tchaikovsky also wrote all three piano concerti post 1850. These pieces also demonstrate the influence of nationalism, showing distinctively Russian themes. The Second Concerto, similar to Brahms, features a violin and cello solo in the second movement, creating a piano trio amongst the greater orchestration. The Third Concerto was originally a symphony but completed as a one movement work for piano and orchestra. Saint Saens wrote five concerti for piano, in addition to several other programmatic pieces for piano and orchestra, including Wedding Cake and Africa. Mycobacteria are aerobic bacteria, which do not form spores and are non motile. They are curved, intracellular rods, and have cell walls made of glycolipids and phospholipidglycans that protect them from lysosomal attacks. TB is one of the world s deadliest diseases. Approximately one out of three people worldwide are infected; in 2014, 9.6 million people were diagnosed with TB and there were 1.5 million deaths (CDC, 2014). This disease is highly contagious, and although the number of cases reported has decreased, the decrease was smaller than in previous years. New strains of drug resistant TB pose a threat to the global population as a whole; less than half of those diagnosed with drug resistant TB are successfully cured. Humans are the only known carrier of Tuberculosis; it is spread from person to person through aerosol droplets released into the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, speaks, or sings. The infection cannot be spread by: shaking someone s hand, sharing food or drink, touching bed linens or toilet seats, sharing toothbrushes, or kissing (CDC, 2014). One cough from an infected individual can produce 3,000 infected droplets and it only takes ten bacilli to initiate an infection (Herchline, 2015). Since the disease is spread through the air, micro epidemics are common in closed communities such as hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, submarines, and on transcontinental flights. ... These overall evaluations can be positive, negative, or neutral, vary in their extremity and be based on a variety of information (Tesser and Martin, 1996; Petty, Wheeler, and Tormala, 2003 ). A popular conceptualization of the attitude construct, the tripartite theory, holds that there are three primary types of information in which attitudes can be based (Breckler, 1984; Rosenberg Hovland, 1960; Zanna Rempel, 1988) : cognitions or beliefs, affect or feelings and actions or behaviour. As defined by Richard Perloff, persuasion is the process which moulds and shapes attitudes. It is through persuasion that changes in attitudes can occur. The two methods ... Hass and Gracly, found that this is only particularly effective if there is a time delay between warning and message which allows for cognitive processes to actively generate a counter argument (1975). Thus, if the target were perhaps familiar with the door in the face technique or simply inferred a second request may be likely, and there was a delay between the unrealistic and realist request, the persuasion attempt is likely to be inhibited. Additionally this cognitive processing may inhibit the ingratiation technique if the targets need for cognition (NFC) is high. Studies have shown that participants high in NFC were generally unaffected by the persuaders likeability. This is argued to be a consequence of their engagement with more extensive ... • 36. Physics of the Golf Drive Essay This paper examines the physics involved in driving a golf ball off the tee. The objective of a drive is to achieve the greatest distance while leaving the golf ball in the middle of the fairway. Several factors will be considered in achieving the longest, and most accurate drive. The factors include calculating the velocity of the golf ball after the club and ball collide, the mass of the club head, launch angle, the shape of the club face, and finding the optimal golf ball. Intuition tells us that the larger the velocity of the club head at impact with the golf ball, the larger the velocity of the golf ball after the impact. To calculate the velocity of the golf ball we need to consider the relationship between the velocity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using the principle of conservation of momentum: 2) MVi + mvi = MVf + mvf where M is the mass of the club head, and m is the mass of the golf ball. The unknowns in the equations will be the final velocities of the golf ball and club head, so first eliminate one of the final velocities in equation 1 and substitute into equation 2. 3) Vf = vf e(Vi vi) sub into equation 2 4) MVi + mvi = M[vf e(Vi vi)] + mvf Since the golf ball is originally at rest, vi = 0, solving for final velocity of golf ball yields: 5) vf = [MVi(1 + e)] / (M + m) Using similar algebra steps to solve for the final velocity of the club head yields: 6) Vf = Vi(M me) / (M + m) You can use these results and the fact that potential energy at the collision point is equal to zero to calculate the energy lost in the collision. 7) W = (0.5MVf2 + 0.5mvf2 0.5MVi2) Our objective in driving a golf ball down the fairway is to keep it as straight as possible and to drive it as far as possible. It is therefore logical to ask what mass of a club head would give the longest drive? From equation 5 we found that the velocity of the ball after impact is given by: 5) vf = [MVi(1 + e)] / (M + m) From this equation, we can see that the velocity of the ball should increase if we increase the velocity

Working in groups is an integral part of everyday life because it happens in almost every context whether it is sports teams, organizational groups, project groups and even juries. Therefore it is important to understand the underlying factors that influence this construct. The current research composed of 20 participants, investigated the social loafing effect of two working conditions: Coactive and Collective. It was hypothesized that collective groups would have significantly lower scores than coactive and the results supported this prediction strongly as there was a significant difference between the groups. Therefore it is important to understand the factors that motivate or demotivate individuals in those contexts in order to improve the collective outcomes that could generally be critiqued as unreliable or invalid due to the social loafing effect. Previous studies have indicated that the type of cognitive task performed mediates the effect social loafing. For example in challenging tasks that involved brainstorming or generating an ideas, the work teams had an opportunity to contribute their own unique ideas that made it more likely that they suffered consequences of social loafing (Robbins, 1995). Personal involvement has been said to mediate the effects of social loafing. This is a situation where the subjects have intrinsic value or personal meaning that play an important role in the participants lives (Brickner et al., 1986) As a result, high involvement subjects produced more favourable thoughts whereas low involvement did not. Weldon and Gargano (1988) suggested that anonymity is associated with group performance. Basically, the larger the group the more difficult it is to monitor individual performance thus individual efforts are unknown and they are free to loaf without fear of social judgment (Weldon Gargano, 1988). Therefore it is consistent to say that although social loafing is expected to occur in most collective tasks, this can be decreased or even eliminated if the group performance is being compared to other ... For some people, the doubt could get to their head and cause an anxious response where it could lead to a destructive path for themselves and can really hurt the people they care about most. This is evident with Hamlet, when his father dies and his ghost tells Hamlet that Claudius was the one who murdered him. Hamlet became uncertain if the ghost was actually his father s or an evil spirit.
