An Example Of Perseverance In Warriors Don T Cry
How many times in life have you struggled but got through a difficult time? That is called
perseverance. The definition of perseverance is Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or
delay in achieving success. Synonyms are persistence and determination. It originated from the latin
word perseverare. Right now the world has been filled with natural disasters, from hurricanes to
wildfires. Everyone that this affected has been forced to persevere through it because there is not
much that they have the ability to do besides staying strong. In all of the nonfiction literature we have
read there were many different examples of perseverance from many different people. I decided to
choose three. For my first example Melba Pattillo Beals from Warriors Don t Cry . There is numerous
examples of the Little Rock 9 and her doing something despite difficulty. For the second example of
perseverance I chose Maya Angelou. Through her life there were countless times that she was faced
adversity and still achieved success. My third example is Earl Simmons (DMX) from the book
E.A.R.L . He went through a tough time at almost all time growing up and he never gave up and
achieved success. Perseverance creates success; therefore, when you stick through something you can
accomplish what you want. In the book Warriors Don t Cry Melba Pattillo Beals and the rest of the
Little Rock 9 were faced with racism as they were trying to go to a all white school. They all had

A Veteran s Honor
Honor is the pride and respect of veterans who served their country and kept it safe. How one person
thanks the veterans is different from another. However, honor and morals sometimes get confused
during the time of war. The Navy sometimes names their ships after war heroes for their actions and
bravery. However, shouldn t the military do that for all veterans alive or dead? Some veterans don t
even get the honor and respect they earned for serving their country. When Veteran s Day became an
official holiday in the United States, Americans honored them by giving out discounts or free items for
that day. Many restaurants such as Applebee s and Olive Garden give discounts or free food to
veterans as a thank you to them for their service. Some veterans wear their uniforms when going out
on this day. Some places have parades for the veterans in honor of them. Memorial Day and
Independence Day in some Americans eyes can be considered a time to honor veterans as well. On
Independence Day most Americans wear red, white and blue and shoot off fireworks and play music
not only to celebrate America s birthday, but to honor all the men and women who died in battle as
well as honor the ones that are alive. Some veterans have reunions after the time they served with the
people who was with them during that time. Anywhere a reunion is being held like, the beach or in a
major city like Boston or Jacksonville, etc. Hotels will give big discounts for the time they served and
they respect

Homeless Life In The Homeless
Growing up, I was fortunate to live a comfortable life. My parents were both college educated and had
well paying jobs at Boeing in St. Louis. My three siblings and I lived in a good neighborhood in one
of the top school districts in the state, and we had everything we needed: three meals every day, our
supplies for school, and the ability to take part in sports and other extra curricular activities throughout
the year. Living in that neighborhood, however, skewed my view of how the world worked. While I
understood that there were people who were homeless and struggled just to get one meal each day, I
didn t comprehend the sheer amount of people, just in St. Louis alone, who fell into that category.
When I was about 7 or 8 though, a group of us from our church visited a homeless shelter to bring
food. Our goal was to help out in any way we could as part of a community service day we had
established. Because of the culture shock I experienced upon arriving, visiting that homeless shelter
for the first time changed my view of the world by informing me of the homeless epidemic in the
United States, and changed my mindset to give back to people less fortunate.
Like any young kid going through life, I wanted the world! If my friends got a new gaming system or
a new toy, I had to have it as well. And like any young kid, when my parents said no, I thought it was
the end of the world. To me, that was a huge injustice; my friends could get new games

Integrative Bargains On Climate Change
Integrative Bargains on Climate Change Amr Morgan BUAD 656 9/30/2015 Integrative Bargains on
Climate Change Undesired climatic change necessitates the need to look for solutions to curb the trend
through planetary scale interventions. However, the major challenge is the lack of integrated, top
down bargaining strategies. To deal with this challenge, the U.S. has resulted to the use of new bottom
up methods such as building blocks and climate clubs to coordinate national climate change policies
(Victor Sabel, 2015). The bottom up approach has great uncertainty because of the feasibility and cost
of implementation of various projects. However, the approach can work smoothly with the support of
various institutions that promote joint exploration of possible solutions by public and private actors
along scaling up of successes. To make a substantive and significant deal on climate change, there is a
need to integrate various parties that focus on the issue. United Nations (UN) is one of the leading
parties in the world that make fundamental and major deals on climate change. United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is the UN s arm that carries out climate
change negotiations. The UNFCCC is committed to a decarbonized the world through its commitment
to 40 70% reductions in carbon emissions by 2050 (UNFCCC, 2014). However, this can only be
achieved if all countries phase out fossil fuels and rapidly scale up the usage of

Gun Banning Texas
The second newspaper article I decided to analyze is an article by Johnathon Silver, entitled Texas
Attorney General Ken Paxton Sues Waller County Over Gun Ban.
https://www.texastribune.org/2016/08/30/paxton sues waller county over sign banning handgu/ This
article was published back on the 30th of August, but this particular one grabbed my attention. The
lawsuit by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was filed on a Monday afternoon in district court in
Travis County; it was geared toward Texas new open carry law, which had already been in place since
last January. This law permits Texans with that license to open carry and own a hand gun. However, it
does not allow the ownership of any kind of firearms; unless there is a written regulation or is ... Show

A local government cannot be allowed to flout Texas licensed carry laws, or any state laws, simply
because it disagrees with the law or doesn t feel like honoring it, said Paxton in a statement. Paxton s
office sent 18 letters to cities and counties since the beginning of last March after citizens had
complained about signs banning handguns from certain buildings and facilities. The issue of gun
control is very important in government, Texas government especially, because a good portion of
Texas citizens own and carry handguns. It s a topic many Texans are very passionate about on either
side. This issue comes up a lot in presidential debates, and for many citizens, this is one of the major
determining factors on which candidate they will vote for, depending on their stance on the issue. I
myself are neither really pro nor anti gun, so I don t have a strong opinion on this article; it just really
sparked my interest. I have to agree, however, even just a little, with the Attorney General in that
citizens should be allowed to carry

Explain The Five Stages Of A Helping Relationship
There are five stages of a helping relationship. First stage of a helping relationship is rapport and trust
building. During the beginning of this stage, clients are concern about the level of trust they have for
the helper, and the helper is concern about the legal side of the service. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 116). For
an example, the helper have to give a disclosure statement that discusses limits, legal issues, fees, and
purpose of the interview. The client must give the helper an informed consent this shows that the client
receive the disclosure statement, understand it, and agree with it. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 116). This stage
is about establishing the foundation of the relationship through empathy, good social skills, and
listening. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 116). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this stage, both the client and the helper assess the problems and work together. In the process,
the helper asks series of questions to identify the issues, and explore other issues that might arise.
(Neukrug, 2013, pg. 117). The reasons for the questions is to stay focus on the real issues.
Third stage of the helping relationship is deepening understanding and goal setting. Besides basic
helping skills, one would add skills to deepen the relationship with client. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 117). In
this stage, the client is allowing the helper to see their true self. When the true self is reveal, the client
is more honest when it comes to questions. The helper can t rush this process, or the client will pull
back on the relationship. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 117).
The fourth stage is work. Fourth stage consist of working on the issues that were identify and agreed
on. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 116). The helper will use different skills to help the client to tackle the
problem. The clients takes responsibility on their identify issues and building themselves up to

Paul Krugman s New Trade Theory
Paul Krugman is well known for his New Trade Theory, International Trade Theory, and for his
weekly columns in The New York Times. Krugman has written more than twenty books and textbooks
explaining economics for a general audience. Krugman is a Professor of Economics and International
Affairs at Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and
Centenary Professor at London School of Economics. What is critical in Krugman s approach is he
united two fields, which traditionally are separated trade and geography. He has found a way to
explain some issues in economic geography by using the trade theory. He won a The Sveriges
Riksbank Prize in Economic Science in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2008 for his New Trade Theory and
New Economic Geography. By examining the effects of economies of scale on consumers goods and
services he is able to explain the patterns of international trade and the geographic concentration of
wealth.
Krugman vouches that the economy isn t like a family that earns or spends a certain amount of money
there s no relation between the two. Your spending is my income, and my spending is your income . If
the people stop spending money, there s a depressed economy, although some people would be
spending money, it wouldn t be enough to save the economy causing unemployment to rise. When
there s a depressed economy the government isn t in competition with the private sector so the
government doesn t use resources that would be

The Kikuyu Tribe of Kenya and the Oath-Taking Process
The Kikuyu tribe and the oath taking process Abstract: This paper discuses in regard to the Kikuyu
people in Kenya and concerning their tendency to do everything in their power to respect oaths that
they take. The oath taking process typically lasts for very long and makes it mandatory for individuals
who experience it to focus on acting in accordance with the cause that they join. Paper: Kenya is
widely known for its witchcraft practices and for the fact that its inhabitants are particularly
superstitious. Belief in witchcraft is normally encountered in Kenya in critical times when individuals
are unable to recover from the crisis that they are in by relying on conventional institutions. This
makes it possible for people to look for solutions in less normal places and it encourages witches to
continue to perform rituals that are presumably meant to directly affect society. Even with the fact that
many of these rituals are immoral in character and especially illogical, many Kenyans continue to
perform them and to believe that they are probable to guarantee the wellbeing of their community.
Murder rituals performed by individuals belonging to the Mau Mau community often happen across
Kenya and stand as an example regarding how tradition can actually reflect negatively on a peoples.
Although Kenya is a multicultural nation, the fact that the Kikuyu tribe holds a numeric advantage
over other groups makes it possible for this people to be able to impose their authority

International Market Analysis For A Growing Firm
Luigi Vittatoe Professor Stanley Klatka BUS1801 Global Business Perspectives October 5, 2015
International Business Paper Introduction For a growing firm, the international market represents one
of the avenues to achieve growth and expansion. The global market, through trade, has been an engine
of growth, for example, world trade has been growing at seven percent since 1945, becoming a
contributor to economic growth. The international market has facilitated global trade and the
integration of economies. Therefore, it has enabled countries to exploit its comparative advantage. The
following report looks at the international market entry strategies, reasons for selecting the topic, new
relevant materials learned facts about the topic and the unexpected facts relating to it. Reasons for
choosing the topic International market entry is important because it enables an organization to
increase its output and attract new customers. By expanding the customer base and the scale of
production, the business will be able to achieve economies of scale. That is, the organization can be
able to reduce the average cost per unit of production when the level of output is substantially
increased (Stephan and Roin 28). After international expansion, cost advantages and higher profit be
obtained through bulk purchasing, enjoying high turnover rate and paying lower interest rates on
loans. For the business firm to grow, it has to find new opportunities of expansion. The opportunity for

Comparing Tokyo Drifter And Yimou s Hero
In both Seijun Suzuki s Tokyo Drifter (1966) and Zhang Yimou s Hero (2002), the directors expand on
traditional genres specifically the yakuza and the wuxia film. The directors broaden the genres in both
a thematic and aesthetic manner, but at the same time, the directors still remain loyal to the specific
genres ideological basises and visual style. In the first scene of Tokyo Drifter, Suzuki expresses to his
audience that his film faithful to the traditional yakuza film even though throughout the movie, his
aesthetics break away from the traditional and move into the modern with his use of a mise en scene
which is formed around Pop Art. Yimou works in a similar way because in the final scene, he

In the final scene, the king of the Qin state is forced by the elders to execute Nameless. Yimou uses a
powerful shot counter shot to display Nameless s honor and the king s questioning of this decision
through a wide angle extreme long shot of Nameless, which displays him standing strong in the face
of death, book ended by close ups on the king looking around with distress as the elders chant orders
to execute him because it is Qin law. When the king orders the execution, Yimou takes advantage of
CGI in order to create a beautiful death of flying arrows for the assassin, and the wide angle shots of
both the arrows flying through the sky and from behind the protagonist embody the progression of the
genre, which has come a long way since the early days when fights were choreographed using wires
and trampolines. The film finalizes its message about the reunification of China through the text in the
final shot of the film which finally reveals the king s name, Qin Shi Huang, because until that shot, the
idea of unified nation state... is still a dream but with divulging of the king s name, the audience
realizes this was the king, who did not want to murder Nameless, would unify China, which creates a
positive message pertaining to Chinese reunification and totalitarianism. (Teo 191) Yimou takes
advantage of technology to present the honor of the knights errant, a traditional idea of wuxia, through
the death of the Nameless but also uses the final text to promote the future of China through its final
reunification, which figuratively closes the book on the

Mr. Keating Carpe Diem In Death Poet s Society
Most men live lives of quiet desperation describes the boys at the start of the movie Death Poets
Society. However, Mr. Keating s saying, Carpe Diem, influenced the path the boys took throughout
the movie. Most of the boys took this advice to heart, leading them to change, while others decided to
ignore the teachings. Throughout the movie, Todd gather courage which helped him change from a
shy antisocial boy to an open and expressive one. This is evident through the fact that Todd revealed
the truth to Mr. Keating in front of authority that could get him expelled. This implies that Todd grew
to believe that Mr. Keating was a friend that he could open up to. Otherwise, he would have never
revealed what happened when he was signing the paper. Also, earlier in the movies, Mr. Keating
forced Todd to recite a beautiful poem he composed himself. This shows Todd that his words do
matter to the people around him, and that he does not have to hide them. It also foreshadows that he is
bound to change later in the movie. Mr. Keating s advice was able to push Todd to become more open
and expressive. Neil gradually became more rebellious and lost confidence due to influences from his

Fast Pitch Softball Is A Game
Never knowing what pitch is going to come next is always an adrenaline rush while standing in the
batters box. Fast pitch softball is a game that has physically and mentally changed my life for the past
eleven years. It involves two teams, one who is home and the other who is away. The game consists of
seven innings on a softball diamond. There is an upper half and lower half of each inning. The upper
half begins with the home team on the field, consisting of nine players in the appropriate positions,
and the away team at the plate batting with only nine to ten people in the roster. Offense is a major key
to win a game. Making contact with the ball is probably the most difficult and frustrating thing in the
world, because you just never know where the pitch is going to end up. There are many techniques to
hitting, but we need to get down to the basics first. Since I was eights years old, I ve been hitting a ball
off a Tee. Sometimes it becomes repetitive and boring, but stepping into a live batters box is where all
of that hard work comes into play. Growing up, my parents would always find someone to give me
lessons or find a travel team that seemed to be a good fit for me. I was fortunate to have parents to
push me to become a better athlete and support me at all of my sporting events. I ve had several, and I
mean several, batting, pitching, and fielding lessons. Because of my ability to quickly learn something

Biography of Andy Whorl
Andy Whorl Andy Whorl was a popular American print artist in the 1960. He helped create the style
of art known as Pop Art. Pop Art showed what was popular in American culture; products, celebrities,
etc. Andy Whorl s career started out as a commercial artist. Some of his fellow artists admired him and
his work, while other did not consider him a true artist. He displayed some of his work in museums
and became famous. A friend of Andy told him to make art based on everyday things, so Andy made
his famous picture of the multiple Campbell s soup cans. Whorl used mass production to make some
of his artwork like the Ten Lizes featuring Elizabeth Taylor. His mass production method involved silk

times. The method of silk screening and mass production allowed Andy Whorl to have a team create
his work instead of himself slaving away on his work. His team worked out of his studio in New York
City. His studio, which he called The Factory , had three locations throughout New York City. Andy
Whorl used consumerism in his art. He made prints of pictures of famous people like Marilyn Monroe

Elizabeth Taylor started when her husband died. He also started his artwork of Marilyn Monroe after
her death. His inspiration for his Jackie Kennedy series was the assassination of her husband,

Chaucer s Code Of Chivalry
The foremost aspect of chivalry that should be understood is what this code of conduct actually
implied for the nobles of the Medieval Ages. When it comes to the concept of chivalry developed
during the time of the Crusades in the middle Ages, it began as a code of conduct for the knights. For
them, their actions were not solely occasional, but rather a way of life. The key ideals behind chivalry
were not intelligible acts that could be performed. Yet, they were about attitudes and virtues that
should be owned. The standard of chivalry, nonetheless, had considerably deeper roots. An author of
Bloody Constraint, Theodor Meron said, War and Chivalry in Shakespeare, states that the practitioners
of chivalry, the knights, were expected to be cultivated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But Politeness should be the expression of a benevolent regard for the feelings of others; it s a poor
virtue if it s motivated only by a fear of offending good taste. In its highest form Politeness approaches
love. Modesty and complaisance, actuated by respect for others‟ feelings, are at the root of politeness
13. Politeness is yet another typical Japanese virtue; however, Nitobe makes sure that it is not a
superficial display of adulation but a sincere expression of care and concern for others: Politeness is a
poor virtue, if it is actuated only by a fear of offending good taste, whereas it should be the outward
manifestation of a sympathetic regard for the feelings of others. It also implies a due regard for the
fitness of things, therefore due respect to social positions 14. He also gives an excellent explanation
for the seemingly different practice of gift giving between the Japanese and Western customs. That is,
whereas Westerners present their gifts as wonderful and excellent items, Japanese give theirs saying
they are poor and useless ones. Nitobe expounds that these two contrasting practices actually convey
the same feeling and thought; they are just two ways of saying the same thing. In other words,

The Effects Of Environmental Sustainability On Western...
The Effects of Environmental Sustainability in Western Harbour
With the development of society, the life quality of human has been greatly improved. However, it
also leads to the destruction of nature, and this result in climate change. Climate change affects human
life in various aspects such as environment, economic, and social. For solving these problems, an idea
of sustainable urbanism was put forward. Brundtland Commission defined in 2010 that sustainable
urbanism is a urban development which not only can meet the needs of contemporary citizens, but
also have the ability to meet the needs of future generations. Sustainable urbanism can slow down
climate change while at the same time balancing environment, economic and social. Among these,
environmental sustainability is most important. In 1995, Goodland reported that environmental
sustainability is an eternal challenge which requires the environment which human being lives is not
damaged, whilst the present and future generations can be fed and housed well. This essay will focus
on the effects of three aspects as recycling, energy use and natural design of environmental

Congressional terms have no limits. Controversy exists between those who think the terms should be
limited and those who believe that terms should remain unlimited. The group that wants to limit the
terms argues that the change will promote fresh ideas and reduce the possibility of decisions being
made for self interest. Those who oppose term limits believe that we would sacrifice both the stability
and experience held by veteran politicians. They also point out that our election process allows the
voter to limit terms, at their discretion. While experience and stability are important considerations,
congressional terms should be limited to a maximum of two. Change is difficult and requires strong

However, statistics show that currently there is a ninety four percent re election rate in the House and
eighty three percent in the Senate. Because of name recognition and the advantage of money, it can be
easy to stay in office. Representative John Dingell, Jr. of Michigan is an example of a long serving
politician. He is now eighty seven years of age and has been serving continuously in the House of
Representatives for more than fifty seven years. Obviously, Representative Dingell has the experience.
However, age may have impaired some of the effectiveness he exhibited earlier in his career. More
than likely, he would not have the stamina required for the non stop debates that we witnessed prior to
the recent government shut down. Representative Dingell certainly has had no effective campaign
competition during his almost fifty eight years in office. Without legitimate competition, there are not
a lot of incentives for a member of Congress to serve the public. Furthermore, it is almost impossible
for the average citizen to try to campaign against current members of Congress. 3 Finally, the
argument that term limits are unconstitutional is valid as the Constitution currently reads. However,
with the appropriate congressional and voter approval percentages, the term limits for these
representatives could become law.

United States s Comprehensive Law And Regulations
1. Executive Summary In the absence of federal legislation, states have the liberty to address climate
change and formulate policies that mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Texas and California
have similar deregulated energy markets and economic goals, yet have pursued different policies,
providing a fitting opportunity for Texas to analyze, compare and consider California s comprehensive
law and regulations designed to mitigate GHG emissions. Key focus areas include electricity
generation and use , transportation, and industry . Given the comprehensive focus of energy policies,
this report specifically emphasizes electricity generation and use. , Texas has been successful in
becoming a key leader in the energy market. Nevertheless, implementing market driven regulations
similar to California s cap and trade program could provide additional benefits, especially in view of
federal expectations to reduce Texas s CO2 emissions by about 40 percent. This report provides an
overview of California s current efforts and challenges, especially those associated with its cap and
trade program. The biggest challenge for Texas to adapt cap and trade regulation seems to lie within
perception and attitude of its residents. Californian s enthusiasm and investment is evident in the
lawsuits aimed at maintaining stringent standards. Additionally, litigations challenges with the
interstate commerce dormant clause in mind could cause costly and cumbersome delays to an

Iron Chloride Lab Report
Unknown 1 Iron Chloride Background and Rationale: We found that unknown 1 was Iron Chloride.
Iron Chloride has a chemical formula of FeCl3. Another name for Iron Chloride is Ferric Chloride.
Iron Chloride is known as a flocculent, which helps to filter through water. 60% Iron Chloride uses
goes towards wastewater treatment, 8% industrial water treatment, 20% drinking water treatment, and
12% other. Iron chloride is also used commonly for etching. We predicted that our substance was part

Carl Rogers And Psychodynamic Research
It is inevitable that in psychotherapy there are numerous theories. Theories arise out of scholarly
investigations of ideas on human behavior. Human behavior is an extraordinarily interesting subject
and therefore produces a plethora of ideas from a variety of theorists. These theorists are influenced by
their education, culture, and time period. One influential theorist is Carl Rogers. His contributions to
human behavior have changed many of the theories that preceded him, and his theory contributed to
many theories that followed. I want to explore Client/Person Centered Therapy. This is a type of
therapy that was pioneered by Carl Rogers. This therapy is different because as the name suggests it

According to Truscott (2010), our efforts to feel good about ourselves we tend to try to incorporate
others expectations― thereby denying our true selves and adopting instead a conditional self―
resulting in feelings of disorganization and emotional pain. If, on the other hand, we experience
genuineness, nonjudgmental caring, and empathy in our relationships with others, then we can achieve
our potential as persons (p.70 71). Thus, a client with emotional support can manage his feelings
easier then someone without any emotional support. This still leaves the client with emotional support
with the expectation that she should not have any difficulty with expressing her emotions. It is
apparent that Rogers main goal was to create an environment for the client in which he will eventually
be able to independently understand and express his feelings. Truscott (2010) reported according to
the person centered, humanistic worldview that,

Essay on The Concussion Problem in Professional and...
Thesis Statement
The number of concussions in professional and amateur football has been rising and has sparked much
controversy in recent years. These concussions are most likely linked with disease and even the deaths
of some pro and semi pro football players. New research is attempting to solve the problem but the
issue is still prevalent in football today.
Concussions
To understand the issue of concussions in the NFL we must first understand exactly what a concussion
is. A concussion is a minor traumatic brain injury that jars or shakes the brain inside the skull. Severe
concussions can cause loss of consciousness and/or forgetfulness. However, you do not need to lose
consciousness to have a concussion. Minor concussions usually cause ... Show more content on

The disease is caused by a build up of an abnormal protein, named tau, which strangles brain cells. To
this day, CTE has no known cure. However, it can be reversed, slowed down, or even stopped. Though
there is a link between concussions and CTE, science has not proven that concussions are a direct
cause of CTE. It has quickly risen as a concerning effect of repeat concussions in modern day football.
Private Research Many private companies and researchers have taken the issue of concussions head
on. Research has drastically increased throughout the 21st century. In the words of Mark Lovell PhD.
founding director of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Sports Medicine Concussion
Program, 90% of what we know about concussions we ve learned in the past five years. These private
researchers have taken different approaches to solving the issue but they are all working to achieve
one goal: the reduction of concussions and the prevention of their long term effects.
For the first time ever, researchers at UCLA recently have found signs of CTE in living former NFL
players. Until now it was only possible to detect CTE after death. The researchers at UCLA discovered
a new method of testing for CTE in living people. They tested four retired players for CTE; Joe
DeLamielleure, Leonard Marshall, an unnamed player, and most notably, the Dallas Cowboys Hall of

The Bands And Music Groups That Are Popular Today
Introduction:
Look at the bands and music groups that are popular today. They use many different instruments to
create the songs they present to us. A common instrument they tend to use is the guitar. Whether it is
acoustic or electric, the guitar can be used in various styles of music such as rock, pop, or country,
presenting it s ability to adapt and change the different forms, creating perfect harmonies. Although, it
is a well known instrument around the world, people do not appreciate the time and effort it takes to
create such an incredible instrument. We tend to applaud the people that play it well, but what about
those who create it? What about the people behind the creation of the guitars we play? There is a lot
that goes into making such a magnificent instrument. While there is a lot of woodwork and
craftsmanship needed, putting the parts together without a mistake, people don t realize that there is a
lot of math that goes into creating a guitar. By combining the fields of mathematics and musical
theory, a craftsman can produce a guitar of great quality. To understand this complex interplay, we
must understand:
the relationship between frequency of sound waves and the pitch of musical notes
the body of a guitar as an acoustic resonator
Pythagorean tuning and the diatonic scale
the Western chromatic scale as a group of 12 elements closed under transposition in a specific system
of tuning
how to place frets on a guitar using either a mathematical idea

Large Scale Change in Business
The business model is a design for a successful operation in business, identifying revenue sources,
customer base, product and details of financing. It describes the method of how an organization or
company creates, deliver and capture values in economics, social and cultural contexts. The business
model may also be used by the company to generate revenue and make profits from the operations.
The module, therefore, includes the components and functions of a business.
Large scale change
Short term plans There are several factors that should be considered before starting a business. These
factors could be personal, social, environmental, cultural among others. Some of these factors include
changing one s standard of living, start up cost among other factors. The financial state of the
company must be considered before starting a business or expanding it to other places. At this stage,
one considers business loans from financial institutions. Such institutions could be banks, finance
brokers and other loan brokers putting into consideration there different interest rates. For the business
to succeed there must be a plan as to what business of instance a franchise, buying into an existing

Mary Shelly Influence On Frankenstein
It s been said that writers write about what they know, that they draw on life experiences, that the
people around them shape the main characters, and sometimes the characters even reflect the author s
life, their choices, or even their view and attitude towards life. Within the writing of Frankenstein,
there are many different relationships shown within the story, and there are relationships that have
contributed to the shape of the story as well. There are many parallels between the feminist theory, and
the making of Frankenstein, which can be largely looked at along with Mary Shelly s relationship with
her parents. More parallels reside in how she acted when the book was being published which was
largely reflected in the character of Victor, and once again in Victor s relationship with his creation.
This can all lead back to the feminist theory and the gendered spheres that is experienced in different

The Miraculous Account Of Jesus Essay
In the bible, the miraculous account of Jesus transfiguration atop a high mountain with three of His
disciples was recorded in each of the Synoptic Gospels (Matt 17:1 9; Mark 9:2 10; Luke 9:28 36). In
the text we see the three disciples, known as the inner circle, are going up this high mountain with
Jesus to pray. The disciples, Peter, James, and John have just been told a week prior to this event about
Jesus suffering, death at the cross, and His resurrection. While praying atop that mountain, Jesus
appearance changed. His glorified form of the heavenly light was shining like that from around the
throne of God. His garments also became white as light, gleaming with radiance. When speaking of
the word transfiguration, the word transfigure speaks of a total transformation not merely a change in
outward appearance. Jesus transfiguration while in prayer on that mountain was intensely striking. He
became so bright in appearance that He was difficult to look upon. Matthew 17:2 of the New
American Standard Bible states, and He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the
sun, and His garments became as white as light. With the transfiguration, Moses and Elijah appear
with Jesus and speak to Him. In the book of Matthew chapter seventeen verse five, a cloud surrounded
them and a voice said, This is My Son, whom I have chosen, whom I love; listen to Him! The cloud
then lifted, Moses and Elijah disappeared, and Jesus was alone again with His

Catholic Schools
1920 1965 Within the Culture
Looking into the past often helps to see the obstacles and challenges of the future. Catholic schools
from the beginning in America up to 1965 were rapidly developing and growing in numbers. Some of
the marks made on today s Catholic schools can be traced back to the struggles and achievements of
the American Catholic schools in the years of 1918 to 1950. When thinking about looking within the
culture, you must look at the make up of Catholic schools during those decades. There was fluxuation
within culture that made up the Catholic schools and that led to Catholics were coming into their own
(Dan lecture). The early decades of Catholic schools were about needing Catholic schools and the next
decades were about justifying their continuation. Children needed emersions in faith so that they
would grow up and continue that Catholic Church s mission of faith. All of the evolving and growing
really took place within the culture at that time, influencing the make up of the students, staff, and
parishes that supported them. There were historical influences such as restructuring schools ... Show

When I think of Artificial Intelligence, I think about robots, but A.I technology is and has been part of

A.C. Doyle reinforces its undesirable presence by describing it as vile . The reader will instantly see
that it is a dirty, eerie place where no one would want to be. It is also personified as lurking which

because it makes the reader think of the continuous series of streets which have no definite end and

emptiness. Everything Watson and Holmes pass along their way appears to be gloomy and depressing:

Criticisms Of The Black Power Movement
Criticisms of the Black Power Movement
Criticisms of the Movement The Black Power movement received criticism from civil rights activists
and organizations, such as Bayard Rustin and the National Association for the Advancement of
Colored People (NAACP). Bayard Rustin who was a civil rights and African American activist for
nonviolence spoke out against the Black Power movement. Bayard Rustin understood what the
movement was trying to achieve but ultimately criticized the movement for being divisive of the
American people. Rustin believed that the movement had revealed two Americas, one black, and one
white.
Since the term black power did not have a concise definition some whites interpreted the term as an
expression of a new racism. 47 On the other hand, blacks defined it as a signal to whites that blacks
would no longer tolerate their violent treatment. Due to the tension the movement created Rustin
deemed the Black Power movement as a threat to the civil rights movement. Rustin said that the Black
Power movement diverts the (civil rights) movement from a meaningful debate over strategy and
tactics, it isolates the Negro community, and it encourages the growth of anti Negro forces. 48 This
tension would hinder the civil rights movement from moving forward.
Bayard Rustin understood the frustration of black people and how black power emerged, though he

psychological attachment to a brand when they perceive the brand as attractive and as partially
fulfilling one or more of their fundamental self definitional needs (Currás Pérez et al., 2009).
Customer experience is generated from customer value and is a customer s perception based on
interactions through either direct use or distance appreciation of products (Hansen Christensen, 2003).
Holbrook s (2002) stated that there are three values measuring user experience: usability, social value
and usage pleasure. Usability can be defined through efficiency, learnability, memorability, and
represents a broader construct integrating perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Social value
accrues to the user because of possessing a particular product. Finally, pleasure is referred to as soft
functionality of a product that represent hedonic value that defines emotional relationship of a user
with a product (Cited in Mishra, 2016). There are some concepts that are related to customer brand

Donating Human Tissue
Have you ever witnessed someone steal something from a store or eat in a restaurant and leave before
they pay? Although this is a different concept, it is oddly similar to the argument of paying people for
donating their tissue. Doctors are making millions of dollars off cures for diseases and vaccines. All
the while, breaking many patient privacy laws to do so. We would not have many of the medical
breakthroughs we have today if people did not donate their body tissue. Therefore, we owe credit to
those who have given tissue to help with modern medical advances. The legal requirements for
donating human tissue differ from case to case. Consent must always be given in order to obtain
human tissue. The rules of consent vary between children and adults. If adults are alive, then it is
absolutely mandatory to have verbal consent. Adults that have ... Show more content on

Should these patients be compensated? The answer should always be yes to this question.According to
Robert D. Truog, Aaron S. Kesselheim, and Steven Joffe, authors of Paying Patients for their Tissue:
The Legacy of Henrietta Lacks, If patients own their tissues, even after removal of the tissue from
their bodies, then it follows that they have the right to demand payment when a profitable discovery
derives from their tissue. If doctors continue to shrug the issue off their shoulder, soon enough there
will no longer be any patients willing to donate their human body tissue.. Since the 1950 s, people
have heard of the wrong that doctors, scientists, and medical researchers did to the family of Henrietta
Lacks.. They deserved monetary compensation in some form, but in return they received nothing. This
could heavily influence new patient s decisions to donate their tissue. Patients will feel as if they are
the reason doctors and medical researchers are making millions of dollars off their tissue, while they
sit around at home struggling to pay their medical

The Balance of Power and the Congress of Vienna
The Congress of Vienna (1814 1815) No event epitomizes the state of Europe in the wake of the
French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars as well as the Congress of Vienna held between 1814
1815. The culmination of centuries of European political tradition, the Congress was in many ways the
last gasp of monarchy in Europe, as the royal houses tried to restore the Europe they once knew and
ensure that their way of politics and society would be sustained even in the face of the radical wave of
change foreshadowed by the French Revolution. At that time of the Congress Europe was in a state of
disarray. The French Revolution that erupted in 1792, Napoleon Bonaparte s rise to power and the
subsequent wars had not only proven ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once in full swing, the Congress quickly moved into its first phase, the negotiations over Napoleon s
Duchy of Warsaw, otherwise known as Poland. The Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth had been
partitioned between 1772 to 1795 amongst Hapsburg Austria, Prussia, and Russia. Alexander I,
demanding compensation for Russia s efforts against Napoleon pushed for a plan in which the
Prussian and Austrian controlled sections of Poland would be combined into a new Kingdom of
Poland under Russian control. In exchange for ceding their Polish territories, Prussia would be given
the entire kingdom of Saxony, and Austria would be compensated with extensive holdings in northern
Italy. (Gulick) This proposition led to the bitterest conflicts at the Congress in what was dubbed the
Polish Saxon Crisis. The Coalition quickly broke into two opposing camps with Great Britain and
Austria in opposition to the Russian proposition, and Russia and Prussia in support of it. Metternich s
reasons for opposing Russian hegemony over Poland were the most pressing. Russian control of
Poland meant that the Hapsburg Empire would have to share its north and northeastern borders with
Russian soldiery. Likewise, if Prussia were to come into possession of Saxony then the northern
perimeter of the Empire would be even more susceptible to invasion, and the already strong political
bond

Article Analysis Of Tax Cuts
NAME OF ARTICLE: Tax Cuts, Sold as Fuel for Growth, Widen Gap between Rich and Poor
SOURCE OF ARTICLE: The New York Times
DATE OF PUBLICATION: 3rd October 2017
Overview of the article:
The article brings the information on board that tax cuts increase inequality. They lead to the widening
of the gap between the poor and the rich thereby decreasing per capita income and regional balance.
Lower taxes encourage the executive officials and top earners to increase their income through
manipulation of the systems and putting each decision with the aim of increasing their earnings.
How the article relates to the course:
Economics mainly deals with an analysis and description of the production of commodities, their
distribution, and consumption. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of tax levied on the citizens mainly determines the growth rate of a country. Lower tax
collection from the citizens will ensure that the growth rate will be decreased. An illustration is a
country such as Denmark, which keeps its taxes high hence increasing the growth of its economy.
Massive tax cuts, on the other hand, does not result in economic growth.
What will you remember from the article?
Today, one percent of the total global population takes more than twenty percent of the global
economy, which is twice the fateful dinner. An increase in the taxes leads to a massive economic
growth of a country. On the other hand, lower rates of tax in any country leads to slow economic
development, thus resulting in economic stagnation of such country. The top earners always modify
their salaries to decrease the tax rates, which are imposed on them. They, therefore, evade paying tax
or pay minimal tax which further leads to widening of the gap between the rich and the poor.

The Sheep Is A Suitable Model
The sheep is a suitable model because the rotator cuff tendons are similar in size to human which from
a transitional standpoint allows for various suturing techniques to improve repairs. USDA approved,
female Black Suffolk sheep (n=23) (Ovis aries; age, 10 to 12 mo; weight, 55 to 105 kg) were
determined to be healthy by physical examination by a veterinarian at the University of Michigan s
Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine (ULAM). All sheep were housed in groups within approved
large animal facilities for the duration of the study and assigned to 1 of 2 experimental groups (ETG

Comparing And Contrasting Views Of Anderson And Karl Marx
Anderson s ideas of simultaneity, sovereignty and limitedness regarding a nation and community have
a lot to do with nationalism with regards to established borders. Friedman on the other hand was
looking at the idea of flatism and how interconnect our world is now. The two have very interesting
and contrasting viewpoints. These ideas can be explored by looking at how connected our world has
begun.
Anderson argued that sovereignty or nationalism is an imagined political community and its members
are held together by shared ideas and values. It s imagined because the members never know all the
other members. There s a limitedness to the length of the nation because it is limited by borders of
other nations. This aspect of Anderson s linking is expanded upon by Friedman s travels. He remarks
that the world has gotten even more connected now and so perhaps the imagined political community
or even social community has expanded to immeasurable lengths. He used the example of how many
countries are now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The internet is the perfect example of this because it began in the U.S. but did not stay within the
borders of the nation. It was called the world wide web for a reason and as Friedman says, India got a
free ride . India integrated itself into the borders of our nation by working in our industries and even
giving us new technology. We in turn call Indian for help with pretty much everything from fixing our
cell phones to credit card issues.
The idea of simultaneity when used regarding nations by Anderson suggests that the members of the
nation go about their lives and never meet each other but they do not doubt that they exist. Anderson s
view of this idea is amplified in the tomb of the unknown soldier and other similar national
monuments. We will never know the identity of the person who is buried in the tomb but there is no
doubt that that soldier was a member of our

  • 2. An Example Of Perseverance In Warriors Don T Cry How many times in life have you struggled but got through a difficult time? That is called perseverance. The definition of perseverance is Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Synonyms are persistence and determination. It originated from the latin word perseverare. Right now the world has been filled with natural disasters, from hurricanes to wildfires. Everyone that this affected has been forced to persevere through it because there is not much that they have the ability to do besides staying strong. In all of the nonfiction literature we have read there were many different examples of perseverance from many different people. I decided to choose three. For my first example Melba Pattillo Beals from Warriors Don t Cry . There is numerous examples of the Little Rock 9 and her doing something despite difficulty. For the second example of perseverance I chose Maya Angelou. Through her life there were countless times that she was faced adversity and still achieved success. My third example is Earl Simmons (DMX) from the book E.A.R.L . He went through a tough time at almost all time growing up and he never gave up and achieved success. Perseverance creates success; therefore, when you stick through something you can accomplish what you want. In the book Warriors Don t Cry Melba Pattillo Beals and the rest of the Little Rock 9 were faced with racism as they were trying to go to a all white school. They all had courage ... • 3. A Veteran s Honor Honor is the pride and respect of veterans who served their country and kept it safe. How one person thanks the veterans is different from another. However, honor and morals sometimes get confused during the time of war. The Navy sometimes names their ships after war heroes for their actions and bravery. However, shouldn t the military do that for all veterans alive or dead? Some veterans don t even get the honor and respect they earned for serving their country. When Veteran s Day became an official holiday in the United States, Americans honored them by giving out discounts or free items for that day. Many restaurants such as Applebee s and Olive Garden give discounts or free food to veterans as a thank you to them for their service. Some veterans wear their uniforms when going out on this day. Some places have parades for the veterans in honor of them. Memorial Day and Independence Day in some Americans eyes can be considered a time to honor veterans as well. On Independence Day most Americans wear red, white and blue and shoot off fireworks and play music not only to celebrate America s birthday, but to honor all the men and women who died in battle as well as honor the ones that are alive. Some veterans have reunions after the time they served with the people who was with them during that time. Anywhere a reunion is being held like, the beach or in a major city like Boston or Jacksonville, etc. Hotels will give big discounts for the time they served and they respect ... • 4. Homeless Life In The Homeless Growing up, I was fortunate to live a comfortable life. My parents were both college educated and had well paying jobs at Boeing in St. Louis. My three siblings and I lived in a good neighborhood in one of the top school districts in the state, and we had everything we needed: three meals every day, our supplies for school, and the ability to take part in sports and other extra curricular activities throughout the year. Living in that neighborhood, however, skewed my view of how the world worked. While I understood that there were people who were homeless and struggled just to get one meal each day, I didn t comprehend the sheer amount of people, just in St. Louis alone, who fell into that category. When I was about 7 or 8 though, a group of us from our church visited a homeless shelter to bring food. Our goal was to help out in any way we could as part of a community service day we had established. Because of the culture shock I experienced upon arriving, visiting that homeless shelter for the first time changed my view of the world by informing me of the homeless epidemic in the United States, and changed my mindset to give back to people less fortunate. Like any young kid going through life, I wanted the world! If my friends got a new gaming system or a new toy, I had to have it as well. And like any young kid, when my parents said no, I thought it was the end of the world. To me, that was a huge injustice; my friends could get new games ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Integrative Bargains On Climate Change Integrative Bargains on Climate Change Amr Morgan BUAD 656 9/30/2015 Integrative Bargains on Climate Change Undesired climatic change necessitates the need to look for solutions to curb the trend through planetary scale interventions. However, the major challenge is the lack of integrated, top down bargaining strategies. To deal with this challenge, the U.S. has resulted to the use of new bottom up methods such as building blocks and climate clubs to coordinate national climate change policies (Victor Sabel, 2015). The bottom up approach has great uncertainty because of the feasibility and cost of implementation of various projects. However, the approach can work smoothly with the support of various institutions that promote joint exploration of possible solutions by public and private actors along scaling up of successes. To make a substantive and significant deal on climate change, there is a need to integrate various parties that focus on the issue. United Nations (UN) is one of the leading parties in the world that make fundamental and major deals on climate change. United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is the UN s arm that carries out climate change negotiations. The UNFCCC is committed to a decarbonized the world through its commitment to 40 70% reductions in carbon emissions by 2050 (UNFCCC, 2014). However, this can only be achieved if all countries phase out fossil fuels and rapidly scale up the usage of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gun Banning Texas The second newspaper article I decided to analyze is an article by Johnathon Silver, entitled Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton Sues Waller County Over Gun Ban. https://www.texastribune.org/2016/08/30/paxton sues waller county over sign banning handgu/ This article was published back on the 30th of August, but this particular one grabbed my attention. The lawsuit by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was filed on a Monday afternoon in district court in Travis County; it was geared toward Texas new open carry law, which had already been in place since last January. This law permits Texans with that license to open carry and own a hand gun. However, it does not allow the ownership of any kind of firearms; unless there is a written regulation or is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A local government cannot be allowed to flout Texas licensed carry laws, or any state laws, simply because it disagrees with the law or doesn t feel like honoring it, said Paxton in a statement. Paxton s office sent 18 letters to cities and counties since the beginning of last March after citizens had complained about signs banning handguns from certain buildings and facilities. The issue of gun control is very important in government, Texas government especially, because a good portion of Texas citizens own and carry handguns. It s a topic many Texans are very passionate about on either side. This issue comes up a lot in presidential debates, and for many citizens, this is one of the major determining factors on which candidate they will vote for, depending on their stance on the issue. I myself are neither really pro nor anti gun, so I don t have a strong opinion on this article; it just really sparked my interest. During the beginning of this stage, clients are concern about the level of trust they have for the helper, and the helper is concern about the legal side of the service. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 116). For an example, the helper have to give a disclosure statement that discusses limits, legal issues, fees, and purpose of the interview. The client must give the helper an informed consent this shows that the client receive the disclosure statement, understand it, and agree with it. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 116). The Kikuyu Tribe of Kenya and the Oath-Taking Process The Kikuyu tribe and the oath taking process Abstract: This paper discuses in regard to the Kikuyu people in Kenya and concerning their tendency to do everything in their power to respect oaths that they take. The oath taking process typically lasts for very long and makes it mandatory for individuals who experience it to focus on acting in accordance with the cause that they join. Paper: Kenya is widely known for its witchcraft practices and for the fact that its inhabitants are particularly superstitious. Belief in witchcraft is normally encountered in Kenya in critical times when individuals are unable to recover from the crisis that they are in by relying on conventional institutions. This makes it possible for people to look for solutions in less normal places and it encourages witches to continue to perform rituals that are presumably meant to directly affect society. Even with the fact that many of these rituals are immoral in character and especially illogical, many Kenyans continue to perform them and to believe that they are probable to guarantee the wellbeing of their community. Murder rituals performed by individuals belonging to the Mau Mau community often happen across Kenya and stand as an example regarding how tradition can actually reflect negatively on a peoples. Fast pitch softball is a game that has physically and mentally changed my life for the past eleven years. It involves two teams, one who is home and the other who is away. The game consists of seven innings on a softball diamond. There is an upper half and lower half of each inning. The upper half begins with the home team on the field, consisting of nine players in the appropriate positions, and the away team at the plate batting with only nine to ten people in the roster. Offense is a major key to win a game. Making contact with the ball is probably the most difficult and frustrating thing in the world, because you just never know where the pitch is going to end up. When it comes to the concept of chivalry developed during the time of the Crusades in the middle Ages, it began as a code of conduct for the knights. For them, their actions were not solely occasional, but rather a way of life. The key ideals behind chivalry were not intelligible acts that could be performed. Yet, they were about attitudes and virtues that should be owned. The standard of chivalry, nonetheless, had considerably deeper roots. Politeness is yet another typical Japanese virtue; however, Nitobe makes sure that it is not a superficial display of adulation but a sincere expression of care and concern for others: Politeness is a poor virtue, if it is actuated only by a fear of offending good taste, whereas it should be the outward manifestation of a sympathetic regard for the feelings of others. It also implies a due regard for the fitness of things, therefore due respect to social positions 14. He also gives an excellent explanation for the seemingly different practice of gift giving between the Japanese and Western customs. • 30. Mary Shelly Influence On Frankenstein It s been said that writers write about what they know, that they draw on life experiences, that the people around them shape the main characters, and sometimes the characters even reflect the author s life, their choices, or even their view and attitude towards life. Within the writing of Frankenstein, there are many different relationships shown within the story, and there are relationships that have contributed to the shape of the story as well. There are many parallels between the feminist theory, and the making of Frankenstein, which can be largely looked at along with Mary Shelly s relationship with her parents. More parallels reside in how she acted when the book was being published which was largely reflected in the character of Victor, and once again in Victor s relationship with his creation. It was also Percy who asked if she could, prove herself worthy of her parentage. He pushed for her to enroll herself on the page of fame, and to obtain literary reputation (21). The Miraculous Account Of Jesus Essay In the bible, the miraculous account of Jesus transfiguration atop a high mountain with three of His disciples was recorded in each of the Synoptic Gospels (Matt 17:1 9; Mark 9:2 10; Luke 9:28 36). In the text we see the three disciples, known as the inner circle, are going up this high mountain with Jesus to pray. The disciples, Peter, James, and John have just been told a week prior to this event about Jesus suffering, death at the cross, and His resurrection. While praying atop that mountain, Jesus appearance changed. His glorified form of the heavenly light was shining like that from around the throne of God. His garments also became white as light, gleaming with radiance. When speaking of the word transfiguration, the word transfigure speaks of a total transformation not merely a change in outward appearance. Jesus transfiguration while in prayer on that mountain was intensely striking. He became so bright in appearance that He was difficult to look upon. Matthew 17:2 of the New American Standard Bible states, and He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. With the transfiguration, Moses and Elijah appear with Jesus and speak to Him. Catholic schools from the beginning in America up to 1965 were rapidly developing and growing in numbers. Some of the marks made on today s Catholic schools can be traced back to the struggles and achievements of the American Catholic schools in the years of 1918 to 1950. When thinking about looking within the culture, you must look at the make up of Catholic schools during those decades. There was fluxuation within culture that made up the Catholic schools and that led to Catholics were coming into their own (Dan lecture). The early decades of Catholic schools were about needing Catholic schools and the next decades were about justifying their continuation. Children needed emersions in faith so that they would grow up and continue that Catholic Church s mission of faith. Bayard Rustin who was a civil rights and African American activist for nonviolence spoke out against the Black Power movement. Bayard Rustin understood what the movement was trying to achieve but ultimately criticized the movement for being divisive of the American people. Since the term black power did not have a concise definition some whites interpreted the term as an expression of a new racism. 47 On the other hand, blacks defined it as a signal to whites that blacks would no longer tolerate their violent treatment. Due to the tension the movement created Rustin deemed the Black Power movement as a threat to the civil rights movement. Customers choose to identify with brands they perceive as attractive, motivated by their self definitional needs fulfillment (Bhattacharya Sen, 2003). Identifying with a company that has an attractive perceived identity may result in benefits to customers in terms of self enhancement (Marin et al., 2009). These ideas can be explored by looking at how connected our world has begun. Anderson argued that sovereignty or nationalism is an imagined political community and its members are held together by shared ideas and values.
