Analysis Of The Book Watchmen By Dc Comics

ENGL 2322.P01
21 March 2016
Watchmen
Watchmen, by DC Comics, should be considered a literary work for its great use of realism and
deconstruction, storytelling and subplots, and the focus on personal character development and their
moral codes. Watchmen utilizes these aspects in a way that makes the reader change the way they
think about their popular culture and what is valuable to them. These aspects help solidify the idea that
Watchmen is the first in a new breed of comics, one in which they make the transition from fantasy to
literature. It is a work that is recognized by many as a revolutionary comic series, and is even lauded
as one of the best novels and most significant works of the 20th century. It has solidified its place as a
cultural classic in America and it would be injudicious to not see Watchmen as a literary work.
In order to see Watchmen as a literary work, one must understand what that is. A classic is a literary
work our culture studies due to its ability to maintain being conventional, or popular, and relevant
despite times changing. When people think of an American classic, people think of stories like Harper
Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, and John Steinbeck s The Grapes
of Wrath. In these novels, the authors utilize certain aspects of language, such as intense character
development, subplots, and realism, and ties them together to create great, detailed storylines. This use
of language and

The Middle Passage Analysis
In The Middle Passage Documentary by Steven Spielberg, the trans Atlantic slave trade is analyzed
and broken down to reveal the true horrors endured by millions of African Americans through the four
hundred years it occurred. Step by step, it travels through the journey the slaves suffered through,
from the initial capturing to the moments they arrived in America, only to be auctioned off as no more
than lowly farm animals. The documentary shows the overall journey of the Middle Passage and the
trials involved, but the book Copper Sun by Sharon Draper portrays it in a different light. The novel
follows an enslaved African by the name of Amari through the horrors of the capture, forced
migration, and voyage to the land of the whites. Another perspective within the book is of a white girl
named Polly who is braving the hardships that come with being an indentured servant. Yet what both
the documentary and novel show are the unbreakable spirits of the ones who were forced to withstand
the barbarous actions of the people who imprisoned them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A dizzying blur of pictures, drawings, historical documents, facts, and figures were placed in the fifty

the young children on the ship on their way to America both appealed to the empathy and compassion
for the wrongs of the past. Visuals such as pictures and drawings from the time allowed the viewer to

Persuasive Essay On Family Vacations
Do you need to plan a family vacation, but are uncertain where to start? Family vacations provide an
excellent chance to enjoy some quality time with your loved ones. The key is to choose the right type
of vacation for your particular needs. Here are some ideas to make your family getaways as special as
possible: 1. Beaches. While the expression life s a beach doesn t always apply, it certainly can if you
choose a trip to the beach as your family vacation. The beach provides plenty of activities to keep your
family busy for a week. The sand and surf seem to create a magical blend that can relax our minds and
bodies. On the beach or in the water you can swim, surf, fish, build a sandcastle, fly a kite, or collect
shells as you take a stroll. Besides spending time at the beach itself, there s also usually a wide array
of fun activities nearby the beach. That includes mini golf, go carting, golf and tennis, and so on. 2.
Camping. This is an oldie but goodie vacation that can provide a barrel of fun for you and your family.
Besides the camping itself, these trips can also include activities such as fishing, hiking and horseback
riding. You and your family can enjoy camping trips at various locations, including mountains and
beaches. While camping can provide an outstanding chance for your children to have fun and learn,
the outdoors can create several potential dangers. So it s crucial for your son or daughter to be aware
of these dangers, before you go on your vacation. 3.

The Between Associate And Bachelor s Prepared Nurses And...
The advocates for baccalaureate degree (BSN) educated nurses are growing steadily with both private
and public organizations speaking out in support. The reason for this outcry is understandable. As a
registered nurse with over 15 years of experience, I have come to observe that the current healthcare
environment has become faster in pace and more dynamic and as a result, necessitate the need for
nurses to continually renew, update, and challenge their knowledge. The idea that basic nursing
education will prepare a nurse for a lifetime of practice is no longer reasonable given rapid
technological and scientific advancements (Bahn, 2007; Gillies Pettengill, 1993; Gould Kelly, 2004).
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the differences in competences between associate and bachelor
s prepared nurses and to identify a patient care situation which will describe how nursing interventions
may differ based on nursing education levels Though, associate degree nursing (ADN) students take
the same qualifying examination with the baccalaureate program student to be licensed, the
differences between nurses prepared at both levels cannot be over emphasized. The BSN graduates
bring unique skills to their work as nursing clinicians and play an important role in the delivery of safe
patient care (AACN, 2013). The BSN curriculum is structured in a more in depth way, thereby giving
the students a more well rounded education. They take courses that help them gain a better

The National Football League And Its Effect On Society
The National Football League was created in September, 1920 and has since influenced America not
only economically but personally as the sport s dangers are slowly unmasked. The National Football
League has been covering up the corruption that has been going on for many decades and as people
begin to dig, many hidden truths are beginning to be uncovered. When people think about the NFL,
they are reminded of the sport that many have loved so much but little does our society realize the
major economic effects that the NFL has on America. Not all of us realize how much of our tax dollars
go towards new football stadiums, the massive parking lots used for games, and the football players
themselves. The National Football League claims to be nonprofit, yet it is clear that it is far from that.
In addition to the economic effects, it also has a more personal impact on our lives as more research is
showing the health hazards of playing football. The multiple head traumas that football players get
leads to chronic conditions such as CTE, a newer diagnosis, which causes many players to experience
symptoms such as brain deterioration, suicidal thoughts and ultimately death. Many parents put their
kids in a football league starting at a very young age but are unaware of the dangers they are exposing
their children to.There have been several cases of sudden deaths from young players including Andre
Jackson, a football player from Ohio High School who died suddenly two days after

Pablo Picasso Influences
Pablo Picasso once stated, Colors, like features, follow the changes of emotions. This quote explains
how Picasso s work changed over the course of his life. Picasso had several art periods in which
anyone is able to see the change of both colors and emotions in his works. For example, Picasso s
Blue period showed his melancholic emotions through blue tones, while during his Rose period he
used brighter red and pink tones showing his more happy emotions. Pablo Picasso s works expressed
his emotions and depicted events throughout his life. Picasso s artwork greatly influenced many
people during his lifetime and he became even more influential and revered for his artwork after his
death.

Picasso himself even said, I started painting in blue when I learned of Casagemas death. Another
factor to the start of his blue period could have been the death of his younger sister Conchita.
Although she had died in 1895 when he was 14 it is possible that the death of his good friend
Casagemas brought to the surface his unresolved feelings regarding the death of his sister during his
youth. Many of Picasso s paintings depicted a single subject with a plain background with dark blue
and grey tones during this time. His first painting, a Child with a Dove, features those blue and grey
somber tones. The painting features a child dressed in white holding a dove to its chest with a colorful
ball sitting on the floor. The child is standing in an empty room blue walls and a green floor. The
picture Picasso painted could have been a depiction of his younger sister. The child in the picture is
dressed in white which could symbolize the innocence the child had and the dove could symbolize
peace that they received. The empty room could symbolize Picasso s feelings about her death. The
blue and grey colored walls could be explaining that his thoughts surrounding his sister may be
sorrowful but he knows that she is at peace. These types sad paintings lasted until 1904 which was the
year that ended the blue

The Cost Of Living Is Increasing More And More Each Day
The cost of living is increasing more and more each day. Whether you are looking into purchasing a

were a decade ago. One area I feel I absolutely must make every dollar of my income count is
groceries. When feeding myself, my husband, and four children my grocery bill can get pretty steep if
I don t find good deals. My ideal place for groceries are wholesale stores, preferably Costco. Though
many people prefer Sam s Club, another well known wholesale store, I find that Costco offer s limited
time sales and more healthy food choices. Sam s Club started with a price advantage: Annual
memberships are $45 and a shopping cart of 30 items rang up 7 percent lower than the total at Costco

Research and Development and Financial Performance of UK Manufacturing Firms
UK manufacturing firms have many factors which influence their financial performance. Research and
Development could be a key factor in determining a firms success, however it does not assure
financial improvement in all businesses due to the extensive variety of business types. Research and
Development can be defined as the scientific investigation necessary to discover new products and the
process of bringing these products onto the market. A manufacturing firm, which generally refers to a
business that makes or processes raw or semi processed materials into either a finished product or
further processed materials, by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Research and Development can also be used by small shops and retailers, by means of
questionnaires, staff suggestion boxes, feedback forms and market research etc.. This low amount of
Research and Development is typically normal, as small shops rely more on customer service, niche
markets, and reasonable quality and price products.
Research and Development can often be a very risky process, since much money can be spent on ideas
that will never be commercialised. In product oriented firms, such as manufacturing companies have
many factors which affect their financial performance. Research and Development is a useful way of
improving profits, if there is significant funding, to employ scientists and researchers to produce and
develop the most technically advanced products to date, which can then be marketed and turned into
cash cows or stars. Also Research and Development could develop new methods to produce existing
products, to lower average costs. However this depends on the skill of the scientists and researchers,
because despite how much money is pumped into the Research and Development department, without
ideas, invention and innovation the business will have no rewards. Furthermore, even if Research and
Development does
its job, this will be worthless if the manufacturing firm has too specialised equipment, which is unable

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC)
The first KFC was opened in Tiananmen Square, China 1987; it struggled as western food was
unknown to the east. This was still a very conservative nation, not prepared for the Fast Food
takeover. The restaurant did pretty well, but grew slowly. The Harvard business review, stated that in

The Leadership Of The Sandwich Company
I. INTRODUCTION The modern leadership theories (hereafter, theories) recognise the importance of
followers in the leadership process. These theories view leadership as an interaction between leaders
and follower. They focus on the relationship between a leader and follower and view this relationship
as the core to the success of any organisation. Kirsty s leadership may be seen as reflective of all the
path goal theory, leader member exchange theory (hereafter, LMX theory) and the transformational
leadership theory (hereafter, TLT). In this report a discussion will be provided of the ways in which
Kirsty s leadership may be seen as reflective of all these theories and approaches to leadership. A
critical analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of Kirsty s leadership for the Sandwich Company s
(hereafter, company) will also be provided to highlight how these factors could interplay in the
company s continued success. The success of the company illustrates that Kirsty effectively uses the
guidance provided by each theory to inform her leadership practice. However, the company s internal
and external environment is starting to change. Therefore, the potential weakness inherent in the
theories associated with her leadership style could come to surface which may delimit the company s
continued success. II. DISCUSSION
Path Goal Theory According to the path goal theory the leader s role is to motivate followers to follow

The Existence Of Gender Discrimination
The existence of gender discrimination in workplaces is not under dispute (Acker, 2006). In virtually
all societies across the world, women are known to be in a lower position in labour market than men.
Women are overrepresented in positions at the bottom echelons of organisations; they have less status,
prestige, power and authority on the job. Besides, women are segregated into roles and jobs that offer
poorer rewards and have fewer opportunities for progression to positions of power (Walby, 1988).
Women receive less pay and rewards than men, even if they work in similar jobs with similar levels of
responsibility and requiring a similar level of ability (Cockburn, 1992). Although it has been argued

the taste for discrimination and through statistical discrimination (Sawyer, 1989They argue that
employers exhibit prejudices against certain groups based on their personal belief system. In the case
of women, it is suggested that employers discriminate based on the belief that women are not as
capable as men in certain roles. An excellent example of this is provided in a litigation case that was
brought against the financial services and auditing company Pricewaterhouse Coopers (Case, 2014).
Ann Hopkins took her employer to court when she was passed over for promotion in favour of a male
colleague in spite of the fact that objective records showed that her performance on the job was far
superior to that man s. The court found that Pricewaterhouse Coopers had discriminated against
Hopkins simply because she was a woman, and they did not believe that she would be capable in the
new role.
Neo classical economists, however, state that this form of discrimination is logical for employers
(Sawyer, 1989). This is due to the presence of uncertainty and asymmetric information, as well as the
fact that employers are rational in their decision making. Although information is available in CVs,
application forms, and other selection mechanisms, employers are still unable to be certain that any
new employees will fully meet the criteria for

Ancient Burial Grounds of Hawaii
Ancient Burial Grounds of Hawaii In recent years, ancient burial grounds have been frequently
disturbed due to increasing surveillance by anthropologists and constructed on by state of the art
technology and are more critically protected than ever before. Understanding the importance of burial
grounds gives an insight on the rich history of ancient Hawaii. They have influenced the burials
performed, ancestors and their modern inhabitants, and how they have impacted modern Hawaii.
Burial methods will range from the tallest peaks on land to burying those in the ocean. Ancestors
influence these methods depending on their rank and actions, having their modern descendants have a
choice to inherit these arrangements and protect their ancestors. ... Show more content on

Cave burial was one of the most common ways to put a body to rest. Placement of the bodies were in
lava tubes, rock shelters, or hitches that contained several bodies inside. Burying the deceased in sand
dunes or in earth was another common but preferred method. Majority of the sand dunes in Hawaii
have some kind of history with burial (Kirch 240). Apart from buried in the earth, surface burials they
had also conducted included cremation, which was performed by burning the corpse over a fire until
the bones had charred into ash. When referring to sea burials, bodies of fishermen would be wrapped
in red cloth, then put in the ocean to be eaten by sharks. It was believed that the essence of the
fisherman would inhabit the shark s body (Redmond 4).
Burying individuals have impacted the people of ancient Hawaiians greatly. As in other cultures,
recognizing a deceased person played a key role in the ancient society, whether it was a strong leader
or a stranger. This was no different for the Hawaiians, as death was a matter not taken lightly. Even
though emotion is common while observing burial, native Hawaiian had taken it to another level.
Relatives or close ones to the deceased person would tear away hair, knock out teeth with a stone, scar
their skin, or even cut off an ear, especially if the high chief had passed (Fullard Leo). However,
Hawaiians also saw a significance when a relative had been

Similarities Between Good Night And Good Luck In The Crucible
Arthur Miller s The Crucible, has many unique and complicated characters, purposed to show the
severe injustice of the Joseph McCarthy trials in the 1950 s. The injustices created by these trails
creates many different conflicts, both internal and external between many different characters. A
similar motif is expressed in George Clooney s Good Night and Good Luck. Arthur Miller uses many
different characters to show the chaos the trails created, by relating it to the story of the Salem Witch
Trials. The characters of John Proctor and Reverend Hale both resemble different ways of dealing with
internal conflict. John Proctor, had a struggle between his head and his heart. For Example, after he
heard of the trials, he had an internal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Salem witch trials cause confusion among people, because it forces them to question their beliefs,
which are the basis of their entire lifestyle in Salem. Reverend Hale, coming to Salem believes he is
doing good, and helping to destroy the devil, but as the trials progress, we learn that he is doubtful of
his faith. Arthur Miller masterfully shows the counterproductiveness of the trials. The purpose of the
trials was to preserve the people of Salem, but it actually achieves to opposite by destroying people s
belief in their beliefs. During the trial scene, Arthur Miller also uses the character of Mary Warren to
show confusion. Mary Warren knows the truth, but she manages to convince herself otherwise. In Act
three, during the court scene, there are a few solid moments, where Mary Warren is unsure of her own
beliefs, and of what she saw, or didn t see. Another example of this is in Good Night and Good Luck
by George Clooney when Edward R Murrow is unsure if he should continue his quest to end the
Joseph McCarthy trials. His boss seems to be unhappy with his program on CBS, and he is unsure of
what to do. Finally, an example of this confusion caused by the trials is illustrated in Elizabeth Proctor,
when she differs from her beliefs to state that she doesn t believe in witches. In Puritan society,
witches were the ultimate evil. In some ways, they were a

Persuasive Speech About Sports
As Kobe Bryant said; Sports are such a great teacher. I think of everything they taught me:
commodity, humility, and how to resolve differences . (Kobe Bryant). Sports are all over the world
and range from many activities such as hockey, basketball, football, cricket, swimming, and bowling. I
as a youth participated in many different sports including volleyball, basketball, soccer, golf, tennis,
and gymnastics and with all of these sports I was able to grow my confidence, determination, and
leadership that I now carry with me through life. All children benefit by being involved in a sport at
some point in their life. Today I will discuss the Health, social and psychological benefits and
Educational benefits that come from children participating in sports. Not every sport is for every child
and not everyone is amazing at sports, but all children should experience sports and find a sport they
love. With sports children can grow into healthy and athletic adults as well as successful humans with
high positivity in physical activity. Sports enhances the physical and mental developments of children
and aids their growth as they get older and become adults
I. Children grow with the help of sports. Children s health, social, and psychological benefits are
adapted at higher rates with the participation of sports. Sports positively affects aspects of children s
development with themselves and their esteem, others around them, the idea of working towards a

Rhetorical Analysis Of Renewal
Pagans are addressed directly once again and summoned to join the banquet of Christ who calls them
back to light. The language of renewal is noteworthy here, especially because it presupposes the
building up and restoration of what is already there. Pagans maintain a sense of dignity and are not
equated with the demonic. The image of an invitation to a banquet where food of salvation and a cup
of immortality is offered is also different from the images of remedying diseased patients through
cautery and knife. Where the medical analogy conjures a paternalistic image of forcing out evil from
within someone by any means necessay, the invitation to a banquet images a welcoming of the other
to come into one s own space. The image is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reject at last such ruinous madness. Rather than being worshipped as if it were a god, which robs it of
its dignity, the sun prefers to live out its purpose as part of the created order, simply to usher in the
day. Firmicus then has the sun close the speech to the pagans with something like an altar call:
I frankly show myself as just what I am, and I want you to understand of me nothing else but what you
see. This is what pleases God, this is what He gladly welcomes, this is what leads you human beings
to the way of salvation: that you should cast aside your errors and absorb the grace of God in
simplicity and faith.
In the sun s speech against its own worship, conversion is rendered as leaving behind false worship
and absorbing God s grace in faith. Implicit is an affirmation of the essential humanity of pagans, who
are called to the way of salvation. We could say that in casting aside their errors pagans participate in
God s exorcism. In addition, the exorcizing of errors is figured as the precondition to conversion; it is
not identical with conversion itself. The difference between exorcism as the precondition of
conversion and exorcism as conversion is that the former grants agency and dignity to the pagan as
human, while the latter over identifies the pagan as the demonic. By separating exorcism from
conversion, this theology leaves room for a positive account of conversion as a free engagement

Personal Reflection Of My Personal Code Of Ethics
After investing 5 weeks in my Ethics 302 class, I ve learned that morals are, rules and attitudes that we
live by, or are expected to live by. Therefore, morals are related to my personal code of ethics. My
personal code of ethics or conduct plays an important part in my everyday life and activities. This
personal code of conduct promotes many virtues and qualities and produces my moral character. Some
results of my moral character is integrity, courtesy, dependability, friendliness to name a few.
Therefore, my moral character will gauge if I m a good person with a solid moral compass. When I
think about morality and how it relates to my personal code of ethics, I m constantly reminded that we
have a free will to choose what is right and wrong and good or bad. This free will or moral compass
directs us which way to go when making decisions concerning right or wrong. It will make a
difference with the friends we choose, the profession we try to obtain and also how we display our
emotions such as happiness, anger and resilience. Thinking back, I believe my personal code of ethics
were influenced by my parents and my religion. As a young man, I strive to live my life based on my
christian upbringing. God is my moral strength when things get challenging and difficult with the
cares of life. He reminds me when I m faced with wrong decisions what s right or wrong. In addition
to my belief and experiences, my parents have encouraged morality in our household since birth.
Okay, maybe not since birth but early childhood. With that being said, I think I can say that I have
good moral characteristics. The ethical theory that I closely follow is Divine Command Theory. Based
on the definition file distributed for this course, Divine Command Theory is, a theological theory that
God has created the laws of morality; in other words, something is right because God commands it.
Opposed to natural law theory, which claims that God commands something because it is right. I try to
hold this theory close because I know I can t control my moral compass without a higher deity. For
example, I try to practice integrity in my life. As I think back to one of the examples in our discussion
forum where we shared about

The rights based model has at its very core the principal that all children should attend a mainstream
school within their community (Kenworthy, Whittaker, 2000). This model of inclusion for all seeks to
directly challenge the societal belief regarding the legitimacy of segregated education, and the
assumption that it is simply impossible to include all children in mainstream education (CSIE, 2008).
The Centre for Studies in Inclusive Education regards full inclusion as a human rights issue, it
advocates the abolition of segregated (special) schooling, while others believe that a special education
school system has no place in a right based framework (Cigman, 2006). Quoting Kenworthy and
Whittaker (2000, P.222): Ending the segregation of children is above all, a human rights objective [...]
The conviction must be that segregated education is a damaging and archaic practice, incompatible
with a civilised society. Towards this end, it crucial that the philosophical tenants of inclusion should
be differentiated from persistent orthodoxies of the past, which so far have disguised and masked
assumptions inimical to inclusion (Liasidou, 2012). Shaping educational practice The focus on
inclusion has risen up the political and statutory agenda, to such an extent that there is widespread
evidence of

It is stereotypically correct to say that pink is a girl s color, but that wasn t always so. The history of
how pink came to represent feminism started in WWII, it was up until then the men that were

a female equality/ feminist issue with women being barred into employment. Because of WWII, most
of the men in America were drafted out to war and women substituted in the absence of men s labor.

After making these changes the company declared themselves as the fastest growing wireless
company in the nation. If one takes these three marketing strategies and compare it to how women are
being targeted by retail, one will see that they are the same. According to the research done by Time,
there s a stronger emotional and personal connection to their mobile devices by females. The key
differences between men and woman in relation to their mobile devices is that a woman is more
engaged with her phone in a way that there is more fulfillment in getting things done with her mobile
device. The Un carrier movement is a solution primarily to American females. The strategy of getting
personal interactions with the customers is what females prefer rather than taking to an automated help
line. The second strategy of a faster data service provides an expedited access for females to turn a
passive time into an active time. For instance, when a woman does her daily activities; there are some
down time that she would rather prefer to spend some time on her phone. This is the time that is

rebranding the company into an edgy and highly differentiated market is definitely targeting women
because on all of the promotion and advertisements there is the color pink present. What s also
associated with the marketing materials are more of an alternative punk rock vibe. An electric guitar is
playing in the background and the color is used in a monochromatic theme, whereas the color pink is
the only color that is apparent. One thing that will be guaranteed in all the marketing materials since
the Un carrier would be the distinct shade of pink; which is magenta. This shade of pink is present in
all of the materials that target women. The Un carrier movement is a solution

War Of The Worlds Chapter 1 Summary
War of the Worlds Chapter One Despite its location, Dot s Donut Shop was about to get famous. I
mean, being the crash site for the second wave of aliens on earth can earn quite the reputation, and
what are the odds I would be working there that very day? Well, to understand my position entirely,
we need to go back to the beginning. In 1939, the U.S. declared itself a neutral country in the
European conflict that would come to be known as World War II. In 1941, Franklin Roosevelt became
the first and only president elected for three terms. Later that year, Japan attacked the U.S. at Pearl
Harbor. These events spiraled into the earth changing event that was the bombing of Hiroshima and
Nagasaki. Many scientists believe this to be the event that caused the Invasion, as it sent some sort of
radioactive wave throughout the galaxy. Although people tend to may disagree with each other, there
was no doubt that it was a devastating blow to the entire world. The Roswell crash in 1947 was the
first contact we had with any species not from Earth. Although the creature didn t survive long enough
to greet us, it seems it was alive long enough to send a distress signal, calling the rest of its friends. We
scavenged what we could from the wreckage, using it to create new technologies that advanced our
world by a couple hundred years. What would have taken us 100 ... Show more content on

Essay On Greenhouse Gas Emissions
As emitter in chief Donald Trump pulls out of the Paris Climate Accord, the time has come for a top
down approach to reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. Jack Close explains.
Environmentalists are quick to sing out about New Zealand s excessive greenhouse gas emissions and
rightly so. In the large part, we are a gas guzzling, river polluting, plastic bag wasting country. But the
rules of international trade means cutting back on production in our worst emitting industry probably
won t work, or at least not yet.
New Zealand is the world s largest dairy exporter, making up about 35 percent of international trade
and sells nearly half of the world s traded lamb. Agriculture accounts for 5.1 percent of our GDP, and
directly employs 7 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And we keep getting better at it in the last two decades, we ve reduced the amount of emissions per
unit of lamb, milk solids and beef by up to 33 percent.
If anyone should be producing dairy products, lamb, and beef, it should be us, right?
The NZ Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre uses the term leakage to describe what would
happen if we cut back on agriculture. If we reduce the amount of milk solids we export, for example,
people across the world will still want milk.
Instead, another country will seize the opportunity to fill the hole in the market, and feed the alley cat
that is global greenhouse gas emissions.
Not only will New Zealand be missing out on the revenue from those exports, but the countries that
attempt to capitalise on New Zealand s newfound environmental stewardship may not have anywhere
near the emission productivity that we do. Parts of Africa and South East Asia produce seven times
more methane per kilogram of edible protein than us.
In theory, we d be leaving the world in a worse environmental state than it was beforehand, and we d
be out of pocket.
Unless the whole world goes vegan, the demand for animal protein will only increase as exponential
population growth continues, with the United Nations expecting an extra 2.4 billion mouths to feed by
2050.

The advantages of HUDs are shorter accommodation times for the driver, as the eyes don t have to
focus to very close information like inside the cockpit. The driver can read quickly the information
near his perspective resulting in an increased eyes on the road time. Studies show a significant faster
reaction on passengers and a very high user acceptance. However, also several disadvantages are
assumed. Phenomena like cognitive capture are discussed what means a unknown shift of the driver s
attention towards the HUD. Also perceptual tunneling what can result in a reduction of the peripheral
visual field is discussed. Studies also mention distance over estimation. It is also difficult to reach a
high optical contrast by the display what results in a high dependence on light

Discrimination, Policies, And The Gender Wage Gap
Discrimination, Policies, and The Gender Wage Gap For decades, the gender wage gap has been an
ongoing issue in Canada. Since then, women s rights have changed and allowed them to obtain career
positions much like men. Although women have successfully fought for their rights, the issues of the
gender wage gap, and sexist stereotypes continue in Canada. The Canadian Government needs to
strengthen its discrimination policies so it can rectify and allow for equal opportunity, support parental
leave, and narrow the gender wage gap. Gender based stereotyping in the workforce informs societal
perceptions and assumptions of what is accepted as a typical male or female roles within the
workplace. Experts still disagree as to which variables inform each stereotype. One expert, Morley
Gunderson suggests that the difference in preference towards the chosen occupation is the key
indicator, not gender profiling (M. Baker, M. Drolet 2010). Another opinion is that women are more
likely to pursue careers within health and education sectors, whereas men are more inclined to pursue
engineering and other related technological fields (J. Cool, 2010). This shows a strong sense of gender
bias, and harsh stereotyping of the gender roles in society. Both men and women have a place within
technological, and educational fields of work. Gender based stereotyping is also present in the
expectations of women outside of the workforce. Employers and executives may anticipate a

Women s Suffrage Movement
In 1893 New Zealand became the first country in the world to give women the right to vote, this made
them leaders in the women s suffrage movement. This is an historical event that is of significance to
New Zealanders when the bill was passed and continues to impact New Zealanders now. Prior to 1893
there were many issues which women faced that significantly impacted the quality of their lives and
their families, especially their children.
As a result of industrialism in New Zealand families were beginning to earn more. They were
beginning to hire servants to assist in their homes leaving women with fewer traditional household
chores that they had to complete. These included educating the children, because they were now being
sent to school, cleaning and cooking. Women were able to work and had more free time now, this
meant that they were able to discuss the issues which were present in society. Due to this many
women began to consider the idea of campaigning with this extra time for women s suffrage the right
to vote. Women believed that in order for moral and social reform to occur in New Zealand society
and to purify New Zealand s politics it was vital for women to have the right to vote. Prior to women
receiving the right to vote there were many issues present in New Zealand. These issues encouraged
women to fight for this basic right for eight years.1
Women wanted the right to vote to ensure that they had a voice in politics because before the vote they

The Effects Of Tactile Communication On The Human Resource...
One type of nonverbal communication is haptics. Haptics refers to the study of communication by
touch (Anonymous, 2012). According to Anonymous, 2012, touch is necessary for human social
development, and it can be welcoming, threatening, or persuasive. The meaning of a simple touch
differs between individuals, genders, and cultures. It is important for the Human Resource Manager
(HRM) to recognize these differences in order to improve communication and be effective in the
workplace. Tactile communication can help or hinder business and employee interactions. A firm
handshake might be interpreted as confidence or credibility while other physical touches such as
lingering touch on the shoulder, might be seen as being intimate (Anonymous, 2012). However, a pat
on the shoulder or arm might help initiate interactions and show inclusion and respect. Proper
knowledge of tactile differences among employees have important implications on how interactions
unfold and relationships established.
The implications of tactile communication or touch is important to know not only as a HRM but as an
employee working in a diverse workplace.
Since we communicate a great deal through touch, there are benefits by being knowledgeable about
this type of nonverbal communication and the differences among various ethnic groups. Benefits for
the HRM as well as managers include respect, trust, an effective communicator, and better employee
relationships. Additionally, understanding haptics enables

The Satanic Verses, Truth And Falsity
Through the violent deaths and hypocrisy, doubt in the sacred is reintroduced. Eileen Barker illustrates
brainwashing as the control the religious leaders have exerted over their followers . This questions
whether belief is imposed or cultivated. John Updike writes that Everything seemed still in place, yet
something was immensely wrong . Highlighting the sense of doubt in postmodernist texts, one may
find that some things, such as religion, cannot be explained. Faith can waver or hold steadfast,
characters revisiting belief in skepticism as ideology falters. In The Satanic Verses, truth and falsity is
ultimately ambiguous. Some characters are featured as wrestling with religious doubt, others like
Gibreel and Saladin think over their atheism after supernatural events. Definition is resisted, borders
blurred, it is questionable whether events are happening or merely figments of imagination. Gibreel
asks for some sign (30) that God is present during his illness, but realizes he is talking to air. He lost
his faith (29) and even after metamorphosis, it is revealed that Gibreel is schizophrenic. The
metamorphosis may be invented, as Rekha says to Gibreel maybe you are going crazy (7), but he is
seen by several others to levitate. Illustrating the struggle between the real and imaginary, miracles are
doubted, neither denied nor confirmed. From Where there is no belief, there is no blasphemy (380),
the sacred is discredited and blasphemy is no more than a simple

Differences Between Britain And Spanish Colonization
Britain and Spain shared similar motivations for colonization, but their colonies were vastly different
in many aspects due to differences in their own government and policies. Both countries created
colonies to increase their wealth and expand their economies, but religious freedom played a factor in
British colonization. The fundamental differences between the two countries led to a difference in the
way the colonies of each country interacted with its government. The relationship of British and
Spanish colonists with Native Americans also reflected the differences in the motives and the
government of Britain and Spain. The governing bodies of Britain and Spain shared largely similar
motives in their exploration and colonization of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The British Parliament took a hands off approach in the maintenance of its colonies; it allowed
colonists set up whichever governments and policies they felt were most beneficial to them. The
Spanish monarchy, in contrast, maintained rigid control over its colonies by appointing their governors
and creating their laws without allowing colonists to have a voice in their policies. The approaches of
their respective governments caused vast differences in the economies of the British and Spanish
colonies. British colonies relied on a variety of activities for survival, including farming and trading;
the governments and the locations of each colony determined how it could best support itself. The
economic activity of Spanish colonies was, again, much more rigid. Spanish colonies had a near
universal trading economy, and trade was strictly controlled by the Spanish monarchy and enforced by
its military. The approaches Britain and Spain had towards colonization were reflected in their
treatment of Native Americans. Ultimately, both countries were primarily interested in the expansion
of their empires, the enrichment of their economies and their own political power, and their treatment
of the natives is indicative of these aims. As Spain s only purpose for colonization was to conquer land

Jetblue Case Study
What is an IPO and why is it such a big deal? Is this a good idea for JetBlue? Explain.
When a privately held company makes its stock available to the general public for the first time on a
securities exchange, this is known as the company s Initial Public Offering (IPO). The IPO can consist
of an initial issue of either debt or equity. The IPO process is also referred to as a private company
going public . There are numerous benefits associated with going public. IPO benefits include
enlarging and diversifying a company s equity base, allowing cheaper access to capital, improving
public image, attracting better management and employees through stock options, enabling transfer of
company ownership through mergers/acquisitions, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Go on a road show (with the underwriter) to present and market the information about the IPO to key
institutional investors and attempt to create interest.
Decide on the IPO price based on the degree of success of the road show and the current market
conditions.
Complete the final step of the IPO process and publicly issue securities in the stock market and collect
the capital from investors.
IPO Valuation
The process of determining the IPO share price as an indicator of value is extremely significant for a
company. Determining the share price target range depends on a number of factors, including the
success of the road show, demand from investors, and comparison with other IPO valuations from
similar companies. The final IPO share price will be somewhere within the target range and the
market response to the IPO is a measure of whether the share price was correctly valuated.
JetBlue: Private to Public
JetBlue opened for business in December 1999 as New Air . New Air, soon to be JetBlue, was
founded by David Neeleman. Mr. Neeleman wanted JetBlue to be a low cost, great customer

million, but 2001 they saw a profit of $38.5 million. Although in 2001

  • 2. Analysis Of The Book Watchmen By Dc Comics Colin Ellis Dr. Angel ENGL 2322.P01 21 March 2016 Watchmen Watchmen, by DC Comics, should be considered a literary work for its great use of realism and deconstruction, storytelling and subplots, and the focus on personal character development and their moral codes. Watchmen utilizes these aspects in a way that makes the reader change the way they think about their popular culture and what is valuable to them. These aspects help solidify the idea that Watchmen is the first in a new breed of comics, one in which they make the transition from fantasy to literature. It is a work that is recognized by many as a revolutionary comic series, and is even lauded as one of the best novels and most significant works of the 20th century. It has solidified its place as a cultural classic in America and it would be injudicious to not see Watchmen as a literary work. In order to see Watchmen as a literary work, one must understand what that is. A classic is a literary work our culture studies due to its ability to maintain being conventional, or popular, and relevant despite times changing. When people think of an American classic, people think of stories like Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, and John Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath. In these novels, the authors utilize certain aspects of language, such as intense character development, subplots, and realism, and ties them together to create great, detailed storylines. This use of language and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Middle Passage Analysis In The Middle Passage Documentary by Steven Spielberg, the trans Atlantic slave trade is analyzed and broken down to reveal the true horrors endured by millions of African Americans through the four hundred years it occurred. Step by step, it travels through the journey the slaves suffered through, from the initial capturing to the moments they arrived in America, only to be auctioned off as no more than lowly farm animals. The documentary shows the overall journey of the Middle Passage and the trials involved, but the book Copper Sun by Sharon Draper portrays it in a different light. The novel follows an enslaved African by the name of Amari through the horrors of the capture, forced migration, and voyage to the land of the whites. Another perspective within the book is of a white girl named Polly who is braving the hardships that come with being an indentured servant. Yet what both the documentary and novel show are the unbreakable spirits of the ones who were forced to withstand the barbarous actions of the people who imprisoned them. ... • 6. Persuasive Essay On Family Vacations Do you need to plan a family vacation, but are uncertain where to start? Family vacations provide an excellent chance to enjoy some quality time with your loved ones. The key is to choose the right type of vacation for your particular needs. Here are some ideas to make your family getaways as special as possible: 1. Beaches. While the expression life s a beach doesn t always apply, it certainly can if you choose a trip to the beach as your family vacation. The beach provides plenty of activities to keep your family busy for a week. The sand and surf seem to create a magical blend that can relax our minds and bodies. On the beach or in the water you can swim, surf, fish, build a sandcastle, fly a kite, or collect shells as you take a stroll. Besides spending time at the beach itself, there s also usually a wide array of fun activities nearby the beach. That includes mini golf, go carting, golf and tennis, and so on. 2. Camping. This is an oldie but goodie vacation that can provide a barrel of fun for you and your family. Besides the camping itself, these trips can also include activities such as fishing, hiking and horseback riding. You and your family can enjoy camping trips at various locations, including mountains and beaches. While camping can provide an outstanding chance for your children to have fun and learn, the outdoors can create several potential dangers. So it s crucial for your son or daughter to be aware of these dangers, before you go on your vacation. 3. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The advocates for baccalaureate degree (BSN) educated nurses are growing steadily with both private and public organizations speaking out in support. The reason for this outcry is understandable. As a registered nurse with over 15 years of experience, I have come to observe that the current healthcare environment has become faster in pace and more dynamic and as a result, necessitate the need for nurses to continually renew, update, and challenge their knowledge. The idea that basic nursing education will prepare a nurse for a lifetime of practice is no longer reasonable given rapid technological and scientific advancements (Bahn, 2007; Gillies Pettengill, 1993; Gould Kelly, 2004). The purpose of this paper is to discuss the differences in competences between associate and bachelor s prepared nurses and to identify a patient care situation which will describe how nursing interventions may differ based on nursing education levels Though, associate degree nursing (ADN) students take the same qualifying examination with the baccalaureate program student to be licensed, the differences between nurses prepared at both levels cannot be over emphasized. The BSN graduates bring unique skills to their work as nursing clinicians and play an important role in the delivery of safe patient care (AACN, 2013). The BSN curriculum is structured in a more in depth way, thereby giving the students a more well rounded education. They take courses that help them gain a better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The National Football League And Its Effect On Society The National Football League was created in September, 1920 and has since influenced America not only economically but personally as the sport s dangers are slowly unmasked. The National Football League has been covering up the corruption that has been going on for many decades and as people begin to dig, many hidden truths are beginning to be uncovered. When people think about the NFL, they are reminded of the sport that many have loved so much but little does our society realize the major economic effects that the NFL has on America. Not all of us realize how much of our tax dollars go towards new football stadiums, the massive parking lots used for games, and the football players themselves. The National Football League claims to be nonprofit, yet it is clear that it is far from that. In addition to the economic effects, it also has a more personal impact on our lives as more research is showing the health hazards of playing football. The multiple head traumas that football players get leads to chronic conditions such as CTE, a newer diagnosis, which causes many players to experience symptoms such as brain deterioration, suicidal thoughts and ultimately death. Many parents put their kids in a football league starting at a very young age but are unaware of the dangers they are exposing their children to.There have been several cases of sudden deaths from young players including Andre Jackson, a football player from Ohio High School who died suddenly two days after ... Many of Picasso s paintings depicted a single subject with a plain background with dark blue and grey tones during this time. His first painting, a Child with a Dove, features those blue and grey somber tones. The painting features a child dressed in white holding a dove to its chest with a colorful ball sitting on the floor. The child is standing in an empty room blue walls and a green floor. • 20. The Leadership Of The Sandwich Company I. INTRODUCTION The modern leadership theories (hereafter, theories) recognise the importance of followers in the leadership process. These theories view leadership as an interaction between leaders and follower. They focus on the relationship between a leader and follower and view this relationship as the core to the success of any organisation. Kirsty s leadership may be seen as reflective of all the path goal theory, leader member exchange theory (hereafter, LMX theory) and the transformational leadership theory (hereafter, TLT). In this report a discussion will be provided of the ways in which Kirsty s leadership may be seen as reflective of all these theories and approaches to leadership. A critical analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of Kirsty s leadership for the Sandwich Company s (hereafter, company) will also be provided to highlight how these factors could interplay in the company s continued success. The success of the company illustrates that Kirsty effectively uses the guidance provided by each theory to inform her leadership practice. However, the company s internal and external environment is starting to change. Therefore, the potential weakness inherent in the theories associated with her leadership style could come to surface which may delimit the company s continued success. II. • 22. The Existence Of Gender Discrimination The existence of gender discrimination in workplaces is not under dispute (Acker, 2006). In virtually all societies across the world, women are known to be in a lower position in labour market than men. Women are overrepresented in positions at the bottom echelons of organisations; they have less status, prestige, power and authority on the job. Besides, women are segregated into roles and jobs that offer poorer rewards and have fewer opportunities for progression to positions of power (Walby, 1988). Women receive less pay and rewards than men, even if they work in similar jobs with similar levels of responsibility and requiring a similar level of ability (Cockburn, 1992). Neo classical economists explain discrimination in labour market in two ways: through the notions of the taste for discrimination and through statistical discrimination (Sawyer, 1989They argue that employers exhibit prejudices against certain groups based on their personal belief system. In the case of women, it is suggested that employers discriminate based on the belief that women are not as capable as men in certain roles. An excellent example of this is provided in a litigation case that was brought against the financial services and auditing company Pricewaterhouse Coopers (Case, 2014). Ann Hopkins took her employer to court when she was passed over for promotion in favour of a male colleague in spite of the fact that objective records showed that her performance on the job was far superior to that man s. The court found that Pricewaterhouse Coopers had discriminated against Hopkins simply because she was a woman, and they did not believe that she would be capable in the new role. Neo classical economists, however, state that this form of discrimination is logical for employers (Sawyer, 1989). This is due to the presence of uncertainty and asymmetric information, as well as the fact that employers are rational in their decision making. Although information is available in CVs, application forms, and other selection mechanisms, employers are still unable to be certain that any new employees will fully meet the criteria for ... They have influenced the burials performed, ancestors and their modern inhabitants, and how they have impacted modern Hawaii. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cave burial was one of the most common ways to put a body to rest. Placement of the bodies were in lava tubes, rock shelters, or hitches that contained several bodies inside. Burying the deceased in sand dunes or in earth was another common but preferred method. Majority of the sand dunes in Hawaii have some kind of history with burial (Kirch 240). Apart from buried in the earth, surface burials they had also conducted included cremation, which was performed by burning the corpse over a fire until the bones had charred into ash. When referring to sea burials, bodies of fishermen would be wrapped in red cloth, then put in the ocean to be eaten by sharks. It was believed that the essence of the fisherman would inhabit the shark s body (Redmond 4). Burying individuals have impacted the people of ancient Hawaiians greatly. As in other cultures, recognizing a deceased person played a key role in the ancient society, whether it was a strong leader or a stranger. This was no different for the Hawaiians, as death was a matter not taken lightly. Even though emotion is common while observing burial, native Hawaiian had taken it to another level. Relatives or close ones to the deceased person would tear away hair, knock out teeth with a stone, scar their skin, or even cut off an ear, especially if the high chief had passed (Fullard Leo). Similarities Between Good Night And Good Luck In The Crucible Arthur Miller s The Crucible, has many unique and complicated characters, purposed to show the severe injustice of the Joseph McCarthy trials in the 1950 s. The injustices created by these trails creates many different conflicts, both internal and external between many different characters. A similar motif is expressed in George Clooney s Good Night and Good Luck. Arthur Miller uses many different characters to show the chaos the trails created, by relating it to the story of the Salem Witch Trials. Arthur Miller masterfully shows the counterproductiveness of the trials. The purpose of the trials was to preserve the people of Salem, but it actually achieves to opposite by destroying people s belief in their beliefs. During the trial scene, Arthur Miller also uses the character of Mary Warren to show confusion. Mary Warren knows the truth, but she manages to convince herself otherwise. In Act three, during the court scene, there are a few solid moments, where Mary Warren is unsure of her own beliefs, and of what she saw, or didn t see. Another example of this is in Good Night and Good Luck by George Clooney when Edward R Murrow is unsure if he should continue his quest to end the Joseph McCarthy trials. His boss seems to be unhappy with his program on CBS, and he is unsure of what to do. The language of renewal is noteworthy here, especially because it presupposes the building up and restoration of what is already there. The image of an invitation to a banquet where food of salvation and a cup of immortality is offered is also different from the images of remedying diseased patients through cautery and knife. Rather than being worshipped as if it were a god, which robs it of its dignity, the sun prefers to live out its purpose as part of the created order, simply to usher in the day. This is what pleases God, this is what He gladly welcomes, this is what leads you human beings to the way of salvation: that you should cast aside your errors and absorb the grace of God in simplicity and faith. In the sun s speech against its own worship, conversion is rendered as leaving behind false worship and absorbing God s grace in faith. Implicit is an affirmation of the essential humanity of pagans, who are called to the way of salvation. We could say that in casting aside their errors pagans participate in God s exorcism. In addition, the exorcizing of errors is figured as the precondition to conversion; it is not identical with conversion itself. The difference between exorcism as the precondition of conversion and exorcism as conversion is that the former grants agency and dignity to the pagan as human, while the latter over identifies the pagan as the demonic. • 27. Personal Reflection Of My Personal Code Of Ethics After investing 5 weeks in my Ethics 302 class, I ve learned that morals are, rules and attitudes that we live by, or are expected to live by. Therefore, morals are related to my personal code of ethics. My personal code of ethics or conduct plays an important part in my everyday life and activities. This personal code of conduct promotes many virtues and qualities and produces my moral character. Some results of my moral character is integrity, courtesy, dependability, friendliness to name a few. Therefore, my moral character will gauge if I m a good person with a solid moral compass. When I think about morality and how it relates to my personal code of ethics, I m constantly reminded that we have a free will to choose what is right and wrong and good or bad. This free will or moral compass directs us which way to go when making decisions concerning right or wrong. It will make a difference with the friends we choose, the profession we try to obtain and also how we display our emotions such as happiness, anger and resilience. Thinking back, I believe my personal code of ethics were influenced by my parents and my religion. As a young man, I strive to live my life based on my christian upbringing. God is my moral strength when things get challenging and difficult with the cares of life. He reminds me when I m faced with wrong decisions what s right or wrong. In addition to my belief and experiences, my parents have encouraged morality in our household since birth. Okay, maybe not since birth but early childhood. With that being said, I think I can say that I have good moral characteristics. The ethical theory that I closely follow is Divine Command Theory. Based on the definition file distributed for this course, Divine Command Theory is, a theological theory that God has created the laws of morality; in other words, something is right because God commands it. Opposed to natural law theory, which claims that God commands something because it is right. I try to hold this theory close because I know I can t control my moral compass without a higher deity. • 45. Discrimination, Policies, And The Gender Wage Gap Discrimination, Policies, and The Gender Wage Gap For decades, the gender wage gap has been an ongoing issue in Canada. Since then, women s rights have changed and allowed them to obtain career positions much like men. Although women have successfully fought for their rights, the issues of the gender wage gap, and sexist stereotypes continue in Canada. The Canadian Government needs to strengthen its discrimination policies so it can rectify and allow for equal opportunity, support parental leave, and narrow the gender wage gap. Gender based stereotyping in the workforce informs societal perceptions and assumptions of what is accepted as a typical male or female roles within the workplace. Experts still disagree as to which variables inform each stereotype. One expert, Morley Gunderson suggests that the difference in preference towards the chosen occupation is the key indicator, not gender profiling (M. Baker, M. Drolet 2010). Another opinion is that women are more likely to pursue careers within health and education sectors, whereas men are more inclined to pursue engineering and other related technological fields (J. Cool, 2010). This shows a strong sense of gender bias, and harsh stereotyping of the gender roles in society. Both men and women have a place within technological, and educational fields of work. Gender based stereotyping is also present in the expectations of women outside of the workforce. Employers and executives may anticipate a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is an historical event that is of significance to New Zealanders when the bill was passed and continues to impact New Zealanders now. Prior to 1893 there were many issues which women faced that significantly impacted the quality of their lives and their families, especially their children. As a result of industrialism in New Zealand families were beginning to earn more. These included educating the children, because they were now being sent to school, cleaning and cooking. Women were able to work and had more free time now, this meant that they were able to discuss the issues which were present in society. Due to this many women began to consider the idea of campaigning with this extra time for women s suffrage the right to vote. Women believed that in order for moral and social reform to occur in New Zealand society and to purify New Zealand s politics it was vital for women to have the right to vote. According to Anonymous, 2012, touch is necessary for human social development, and it can be welcoming, threatening, or persuasive. The meaning of a simple touch differs between individuals, genders, and cultures. It is important for the Human Resource Manager (HRM) to recognize these differences in order to improve communication and be effective in the workplace. • 50. The Satanic Verses, Truth And Falsity Through the violent deaths and hypocrisy, doubt in the sacred is reintroduced. Eileen Barker illustrates brainwashing as the control the religious leaders have exerted over their followers . This questions whether belief is imposed or cultivated. John Updike writes that Everything seemed still in place, yet something was immensely wrong . Highlighting the sense of doubt in postmodernist texts, one may find that some things, such as religion, cannot be explained. Faith can waver or hold steadfast, characters revisiting belief in skepticism as ideology falters. In The Satanic Verses, truth and falsity is ultimately ambiguous. Some characters are featured as wrestling with religious doubt, others like Gibreel and Saladin think over their atheism after supernatural events. Definition is resisted, borders blurred, it is questionable whether events are happening or merely figments of imagination. Gibreel asks for some sign (30) that God is present during his illness, but realizes he is talking to air. He lost his faith (29) and even after metamorphosis, it is revealed that Gibreel is schizophrenic. The metamorphosis may be invented, as Rekha says to Gibreel maybe you are going crazy (7), but he is seen by several others to levitate. Illustrating the struggle between the real and imaginary, miracles are doubted, neither denied nor confirmed. From Where there is no belief, there is no blasphemy (380), the sacred is discredited and blasphemy is no more than a simple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Differences Between Britain And Spanish Colonization Britain and Spain shared similar motivations for colonization, but their colonies were vastly different in many aspects due to differences in their own government and policies. Both countries created colonies to increase their wealth and expand their economies, but religious freedom played a factor in British colonization. The fundamental differences between the two countries led to a difference in the way the colonies of each country interacted with its government. The relationship of British and Spanish colonists with Native Americans also reflected the differences in the motives and the government of Britain and Spain. The British Parliament took a hands off approach in the maintenance of its colonies; it allowed colonists set up whichever governments and policies they felt were most beneficial to them. The Spanish monarchy, in contrast, maintained rigid control over its colonies by appointing their governors and creating their laws without allowing colonists to have a voice in their policies. The approaches of their respective governments caused vast differences in the economies of the British and Spanish colonies. British colonies relied on a variety of activities for survival, including farming and trading; the governments and the locations of each colony determined how it could best support itself. The economic activity of Spanish colonies was, again, much more rigid. Spanish colonies had a near universal trading economy, and trade was strictly controlled by the Spanish monarchy and enforced by its military. The approaches Britain and Spain had towards colonization were reflected in their treatment of Native Americans. Ultimately, both countries were primarily interested in the expansion of their empires, the enrichment of their economies and their own political power, and their treatment of the natives is indicative of these aims.
