Blacker the Berry off his 11 time nominated album To Pimp a Butterfly, recounts issues of racism in
society, however, conveys a deeper meaning of hypocrisy towards the end of the song. In this essay, I

in the outside world that related or could have perhaps provoked him to decide to perform those

The Grass Is Always Greener In Carl Sandburg s Grass
The Grass Is Always Greener (Over the Cemetery): the Use of Proper Nouns, the Imperative Tense,
and Tension Between the First and Third Person in Carl Sandburg s Grass When a battle is over, the
field on which it was fought must look like a wound on the face of the earth: the blood soaked ground
strewn with bodies, lying in mud churned by thousands of marching feet. Eventually, grass grows over
the battlefield, hiding the evidence of the horrors that took place there under a blanket of green. In
years to come, the area appears so unremarkable that passersby have no indication of what took place
there. However, without remembrance, what is to stop history from continually repeating itself? Carl
Sandburg, in his poem Grass, uses the imperative tense, proper nouns, and tension between the first
person and the third person points of view to show that humanity repeats its mistakes because nature
always conceals them. Sandburg uses proper nouns throughout the poem to emphasize the reality of
wars fought and lives lost. By calling battles by their proper names, in ominous, measured sentences,
he is peeling back, so to speak, the layer of grass concealing them. This technique makes it impossible
to gloss over the atrocities that were committed. When he says, Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and
Waterloo (Line 1), And pile them high at Ypres and Verdun (5), he is naming specific places, where
individuals died at a certain time. Readers are unable to remove

Internal And External Sources Of Finance For Tesco P4
Internal and external sources of finance for Tesco
Internal sources of finance (Tesco)
Retained earnings:
A source of finance used by Tesco is retained earnings. Tesco re invest a certain percentage of their
end of the year profits back into Tesco, so they can improve it. Each year Tesco decide how much
money they re invest, this depends on the profit they make.
Fixed assets:
Another type of an internal source of finance for Tesco is fixed assets. Fixed assets are an asset that is
not consumer or sold during the normal course of business, these are land, buildings, equipment,
machinery, vehicles etc. These assets are very hard to convert into cash as it takes time to sell, Tesco
would use these assets to fund future operations.

Business angels usually invest in companies around their home so they can check up on their
investments.
Government Grants:
Tesco are Britain s biggest supermarket and due to this they employ thousands. The government can
give Tesco grants and money to invest back into Tesco. The government will benefit because if Tesco
invest the money wisely they will have a successful year therefore the government will receive more
tax. An example of Tesco receiving a government grant was in 2009 when they received £5 million to
open a new store in Glasgow.
HP:
Hire purchase is when a company or person lends out goods to companies for a short period of time,
with added interest. Tesco could benefit if they were the company as they would lend out equipment,
machinery, property and vehicles, as they would gain interest and also regain some of their investment
into the product.
Suppliers credit:
Supplier s credit is when a supplier offers the buyer the product they want on credit. This is like
getting a loan of sorts as Tesco can pay at a later date. This benefits Tesco as they can order as much
stock as they need even if they haven t got the finances at that time.
Sale and lease back:
This is when Tesco sells something to a buyer such as equipment, machinery etc and the buyer leases
the product back to Tesco immediately. This benefits Tesco as they can use the product without being
tied down to the product financially. To Tesco there is some tax benefits to

Managing A Project Team, An Understanding And Knowledge Of...
MANAGING A PROJECT TEAM
Syed Tauseef Ali (Author)
Civil Engineering Department
Bradley University
Peoria, Illinois syedtauseefali@mail.bradley.edu Abstract Managing a project team requires an
understanding and knowledge of modern management as well as the knowledge of the design and
construction process. Nowadays, associations in the development area use groups to meet today s
global competition and client desires, however, they require better methods for assessing the viability
of the groups. To guarantee that development groups are successful and viable, development
organizations must advance, measure, and assess their groups viability. A project team is bound by a
certain set of constraints, for example, delivering a construction project in a required time frame and
so they need to see the big picture or have a clear set of goal planned in order to execute the project in
time and with good quality. This paper is outlined to provide details regarding the roles and
responsibilities of the different members involved in a project management team and what factors
contribute to conflicts within the team and how they should be resolved.
1. INTRODUCTION
Not all construction projects are same in size. Every project varies in size and scope with different
approaches, different technologies but they all share the common issues when it comes to managing a
project team [1]. A project team often involves members of different backgrounds, specializations,
skills and

Race to the Kmart Parking Lot Essay
Race to K mart
No one in his or her right mind would think that K mart parking lot is a great place to have fun for a
day. Most people would wonder why my friends and I go there on Saturday and Sundays. Even though
scheduling is sometimes a problem, the parking lot of K mart is my favorite place because this is
where my friends and I visit, enjoy good food, and drag race remote controlled cars.
Sometimes scheduling can be a main problem, and friends will decline for many reasons. Some of the
people miss a day of work that week due to doctor s appointment or a family emergency, so they have
to make those days up on a weekend. At other times, their car might be broken down, and they need to
fix it. If they do not have enough gas, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, we warm the cars up that are nitro along with tuning them to get maximum performance out of
the engine. Now we are ready for the contest of a lifetime.
While the food and visiting are important, the most important reason why K mart s parking lot is my
favorite place is that it provides a great space to drag race remote controlled cars. There we have about
one thousand feet of distance across the parking lot. Everyone starts on one end of the parking lot and
races down to the other side. Then the cars turn around and race back to where we started. Racing five
cars down the straightaway side by side can be difficult. If one person loses control of his car, that
individual can take out one or all of the others at the same time. The winner of that day has the
bragging rights until the next day or until the next race day. This it what makes it fun to be at the
Kmart parking lot on Saturdays and Sundays. There is a lot of trash talk that goes on during the whole
day. We have had people run into the curbs light poles while car parts go flying through the air.
Watching it happen is funny for everyone but for the individual wrecking. Rubbing their misfortune in
their faces makes them mad and also makes them try to fix their car and get back into the race to see if
they can win or wreck all of the other cars at the same time. Revenge is what makes this sport fun.
Another humorous calamity is if someone s car loses signal from the

Social Media s Influence On Marketing
Depending on the virtual assistant you hire, bookkeeping and accounting may be their forte.
Marketing Help
These days it is hard to underestimate the importance of marketing. Effective marketing is key to
success, especially in real estate. But social media marketing, content marketing, and ad development
and purchasing can all be very time consuming.
Content Marketing o We all know that content is king. We also know, or at least should, that unless
you are constantly posting new content to your website or blog, that you might as well not bother with
having one. Your virtual assistant can be a great help in finding, scheduling, and posting robust
content to your website and/or blog, freeing your marketing time up to write your own original
content.
Social Media o Social media marketing is so important these days. Whatever people are saying about
you and your company on social media is often the first impression prospective customers and
business associates get of you. Managing social media can be a huge challenge and another way you
can employee your virtual assistant to your advantage.
Advertising o Creating flyers and direct mail advertising pieces can also be a major drain on your
available time. But, it s so important to your business. Well, why not put this on your virtual assistant
as well?

Microsoft Positioning Strategy
. ANALYSIS OF CURRENT BRAND POSITIONING AND SEGMENTATION STRATEGIES
BRAND POSITIONING
Brand positioning is essential to the success of any firm because it delivers a perception into the
consumer s minds which differentiates them from their competitors. Microsoft began to grow their
brand over 20 years ago with Bill Gate s an underlying vision of a computer on every desk and in
every home . This resulted in Microsoft developing into a huge multinational company with personal
computing at the forefront of their business. Microsoft dominated this industry for many years which

The H1N1 pandemic in 2009 was the first influenza pandemic of the 21st century, a period in which
technological developments have allowed scientists around the globe to isolate and sequence viral
genomes and share results in almost real time. These advances present an opportunity to learn how
influenza pandemics start, spread and evolve. Despite all the worldwide effort, there are many
questions that remain unanswered about the origin of the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus (H1N1pdm). The
closest ancestors of the pandemic virus were related to viruses isolated in swine more than a decade

Total Environmental Health and Safety Management
There is a tremendous amount of difference between authority, responsibility, and accountability as
they apply to the OSH program management. As read in the textbook by Manuele (2008 p. 86) and

unsafe conditions. And he is held accountable in that management expects him to be active informing
management of any unsafe actions or conditions. My past and present employer ought to take heed of
what Manuele and his cohorts have to say. Most of my employers may spout off what they desire in
their safety program but don t have the least bit of concern to lead by example, much less show that
they are truly concerned about the safety program for their employees. They have shown blatant
disregard for their safety policies and practices to include their lack of flexing of authority to ensure
that a safety program is followed, for their lack of taking responsibility incorporating the safety
program into all aspects of the business and being accountable for their lack of actions. Needless to
say, the more I learn about how my past and present management is supposed to mold themselves, the
more focused I become to try to get them on the correct tangent. My current employer assumes no
responsibility of safety. He speaks of being safety conscience and this is pretty much the end of the
conversation. He, my present employer, uses intimidation and threatens myself and the other

Irrationality of Racism
Have you ever experienced racism before? If you did, how did you deal with it? Racism can be a very
hard thing to defend against especially at a very young age. Will you allow them to insult you without
retaliation? Will you fight back and try to deal with the racism yourself, or would you pretend to be
one of the racists to prevent persecution like Peekay? In the book The Power of One by Bryce

round Wilder stole it with a knockdown. Ortiz was very hurt, but got up and made it three more

Aluminum Cubes Lab Report
Purpose:
The lab was performed for the purpose of calculating the density of each type of object and
determining if calculating the volume, and therefore the density, of two cubes can be more effectively
done with a ruler (through the direct method) or by water displacement.
Materials:
1 Scale
1 Rock
2 Corks
2 Aluminum Cubes
4 Paper clips
2 Marbles
1 50 mL graduated cylinder
1 25 mL graduated cylinder
1 Calculator
1 Ruler
Procedure:
1. Weigh and record the mass of each pair of objects (only use one rock when measuring the mass of
the rock and use all four paper clips when measuring the mass of the paper clips) on a scale. Place the
marbles gently to ensure they do not roll off the scale.
2. Measure the length, width, and height of both aluminum cubes to calculate and record the volume
in cm3 using the direct method. Add up the volumes of the cubes to find their collective volume.

Two important figures in history who were well known for educating African Americans and who also

Essay On Your Daughter Dances Flamenco
A red and black swirl, that s how it all started. I remember it like it was yesterday. My mother and I
were standing in line at a frame shop. There was a girl with a black leotard and a red flowy skirt
standing in front of us, with her mother. Your daughter dances Flamenco, right? Where does she take
classes? My mother asked the girl s mother. Next thing I remember, I was in a dance studio, staring at
a group of dancers who seemed to be flying across the room, all wearing long skirts and dance shoes. I
couldn t take my eyes off of them. I didn t know it right then, but fourteen years later, I would be able

I can relate dancing to playing in two different ways. The first one, of course, whenever I am dancing I
can certainly feel like I am playing a game. By this I don t mean that I don t take dance seriously. For
the contrary, I enjoy dance to a level where I feel just like when I am playing a videogame. Each new
step I have to learn, represents a new challenge. Once I am able to correctly perform said step, I have
to keep practicing until I can perform it perfectly, then I can move on to the next step. Once a
choreography is complete, we, as dancers, are supposed to rehearse it over and over again until we
feel as confident as we can in order to be able to perform it in the theatre. Reaching that point for me
is like defeating the boss in a Mario Bros. game. One can say the turtles, owls, and other enemies in
the game could be represented by blisters, twisted ankles, mistakes committed, and some other
challenges we may encounter while trying to master a piece of choreography.
The other way I can relate dance to play, which is kind of the most obvious one, are dance plays. Last
year, I played the role of Anastasia Romanov at the Foro de Arte y Cultura in Guadalajara, Mexico. At
some points it did, in fact, feel like I was playing pretend. I wore a costume that looked exactly like
what Anastasia wore in the animated movie and dyed my hair copper. Of course, I watched the movie

Longboarding Vs Longboard Research Paper
The feeling riders get as they are skating around town on a nice sunny day, with all of their buddies, is
one of the best feelings in the world. Many people do not know this, but there is actually more than
one type of skating. The two biggest types are skateboarding and longboarding. There are many
similarities and differences between the two. The first being the length and style of the deck.
Longboards are generally longer and shaped differently than a regular skateboard. Second, would be
how the board is ridden and the different tricks riders can do on each type of board. Regardless, people
can ride and cruise on either type. The last comparison is the price difference between the two boards.

Most of the time, longboards are more expensive than skateboards because they have bigger trucks,
wheels, and the deck is longer. This is not always the case though. If a skateboard is more expensive
than a longboard, the longboard is more than likely a cheaper made board with lower quality trucks
and wheels. This does not mean the board is terrible, it just means it was made cheaper so that more
people can afford to buy it. Skateboards are the same way. The good brands of skateboard decks like
Baker, Anti Hero, Plan B, Deathwish, etc... are normally $40 $60. Longboards decks, especially
brands like Sector 9, Globe, Landyachtz, etc... can start at around $75 and can get up to over $200 for

among the great Redwoods and Oaks. Trees that would tower over me with wisdom and age. The
sound of cheers wiped away my vision while I slowly walked toward the track. There was nothing that

individual uniqueness about themselves. The color of the track was burned directly into my mind, the
redness of the track was like a burning hellfire ready to break loose at any moment. The redness of the

red I no longer have to worry about today. The scent of the track was even worse than

Revolt In Atlanta
After reading The Politics of Race and Public Space: Desegregation, privatization, and the Tax Revolt
in Atlanta by Kevin M. Kruse. I noticed many similarities in deindustrialization, metropolitan
fragmentation, and the rights revolution between the piece and what we have discussed in class. Kruse
states that when the desegregation of municipal spaces began to occur, everyone in Atlanta had the
freedom to live in the best place that they could afford. There was metropolitan fragmentation, which
is the segregating of a community into smaller municipal areas. White upper class Atlantans fled to
more private areas such as suburbs while poor and mostly black people were left with the city,
effectively redlining the community.
When the wealthy white population left for the suburbs, they wanted to bring their money with them.
They didn t want to pay taxes for the inner city poor black society that they payed to get away from.
Therefore, there was a tax revolt where white people rebelled paying for the city taxes and services
where they no longer lived or benefit from services. This fragmentation led to some resegregation as
wealthy white people cohered in suburbs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The, Wildlife, And The Natural Land, By Henry David Thoreau
Just years after the Industrial Revolution, a time at which engineering and the economy became the
main concerns of the population, many of the American people forgot the importance of the land that
provided the resources that sustained them. In a time where there was believed to be nowhere but
society to reside in, few refuted the idea that the wilderness was really so uncivilized. In his 1845
memoir, Henry David Thoreau describes his experiences living in a quaint cabin, in the wilderness ,
alongside Walden Pond near Concord, Massachusetts. Presenting his findings of being self reliable,
Thoreau depicts what his life was like alone in the woods with only nature to ease one s mind and
solitude to provide company. With detailed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He accordingly conveys this idea by stating that society only believes in intrinsic value and only once
one can seclude themselves from the portrait of society can one come to find instrumental value.
Continuing with his descriptions of the Walden Pond during winter, Thoreau presents the idea of
overconsumption and sustainability throughout the book. While observing the ice cutters at Walden
Pond, Thoreau comments on human effort to exploit nature, arguing that the actions are in vain as
nature regenerates much faster than it can be threatened, which is very debatable due to the knowledge
that there is only a finite amount of resources on the planet. Thoreau thoroughly believes in his idea of
self reliance and states that there are only four necessities that should determine one s ability to
survive: food, shelter, clothing, and fuel, many of which he believes nature provides graciously. This
refutes the idea that prosperity is dependent widescale economic surplus. Thoreau makes his argument
clear, writing that any attempt at luxury is likely to prove more as a hinderance that an aid to one s
individual improvement as in Economy when he writes Most men, even in this comparatively free
country, through mere ignorance and mistake, are so

Chinese Impact On Australian Federation
Year 9 History: Making a Nation Enya Navarroza
To what extent did the Chinese population impact on Australia s federation
The Australian Gold rush days had brought may immigrants from all over the world to Australia.
Many of the migrants who joined the goldrush left their families and their homeland behind. This is
particularly difficult for the Chinese because they come from a traditional culture that focused greatly
on family and their village. Most Chinese men who came to New South Wales were not for individual
fortune but came for their family. The Chinese immigration shaped and influenced Australian policy
for over a 100 year, which became one of the driving factors for the Australian Federation.

The Chinese population has brought many Chinese resources, tradition and culture in here that we
have somewhat adapted in our modern society in Australia.
The main reason for the Europeans to dislike the Chinese was because they viewed the Chinese as a
threat for gold, it was the greed and other factors of jealousy that the Europeans raved about that had
made their opinions change Australia s Immigration Laws as well as our Federation all together.
Good things have happened due to the Chinese population impacting on Australia s decision of
passing the Immigrations laws. If this event did not occur in the history books, that Multiculturalism
that we have today wouldn t be here. We have realised as a country that we need everyone in our

Switzerland and the Concept of Comparative Advantage
While most in today s hyper competitive global economy look towards countries including; China,
India, Taiwan, Vietnam, and others in search of lower production costs seeking the ever illusive
comparative advantage, others have different ideas. Switzerland, a tiny land locked nation in central
Europe surrounded by Alps with a relatively small population of 7,630,605 is one such country. It

As Switzerland is unable to compete globally in the area of inexpensive goods and services including;
toys, manufactured goods, and other products used in mass by today s consumer it is advised that the
nation continue to produce products it currently specializes in along with expanding its current
services to attract foreign investment into the Swiss economy.
Industries of Specialization and Opportunity
As most already know, the Swiss are renowned for their production of high quality chocolates
including those of the Toblerone and Lindt brands. Switzerland has a comparative advantage in the
production of chocolate. By spending one hour producing two pounds of chocolate, it gives up
producing one pound of cheese, whereas, if it spends that hour producing cheese, it gives up two
pounds of chocolate. Thus, the good in which comparative advantage is held is the good that the
country produces most efficiently (chocolate). Therefore, if given a choice between producing two
goods (or services), a country will make the most efficient use of its resources by producing the good
with the lowest opportunity cost, the good in which it holds the comparative advantage, and by trading
for the other good. (Globalization101.org, 2010) While chocolates are one of this country s specialties
it s not the only one. Other areas of specialty already realized and being readily utilized by the Swiss

Book Review
A Worn Path by Eudora Welty
The author, Eudora Welty was an award winning American author who wrote short stories and novels
about the American South. Her first short story appeared in 1936, and gradually she began to e
published in small, then regional and general circulation magazines. She published collections of her
short stories and began publishing novels as well. She was the first living author to have her works
published by the library of America.
A Worn Path written by Eudora Welty is an interesting short story about an elderly African American
woman walking through the woods into town, and the story is also heaving with symbolism and
several themes. First and the most obvious symbol in the story A Worn Path is the Phoenix and
Phoenix Jackson s comparison to the mythological bird, the Phoenix. Phoenix is a mythological bird
that is said to live 500 years or more than 500 years, die in flames and rise again from the ashes. Just
as the Phoenix bird has a cycle of life, death and rebirth, Phoenix Jackson takes a dangerous journey

The Hyatt Regency Hotel, the newest hotel built in Kansas City Missouri featuring an open atrium
design at its entrance with floating walkways suspended on the second, third, and fourth floors. Only
one year after its final construction did a suspended walkway fall, injuring and killing partygoers the
night of July 17th, 1981. What may have initially appeared as an accident was the result of many
factors including the design and construction of the walkways supports, but more importantly
communication between all involved parties in its design and construction. Ethical concerns over this
tragedy were raised as well as further investigation of possible negligence resulting in the deaths and
injuries.
The original walkway was designed to have single load bearing rods that would pass through the
fourth floor walkways supporting beams, be supported with nuts and washers and hang the second
floor walkway beneath as shown in the Original Detail in figure 1 . Due to a late design change for
apparent manufacturing issues, the change was quickly implemented to the As Built design shown in

Lou Gehrig Research Paper
The Life of Lou Gehrig: Henry Louis Gehrig mainly known as Lou Gehrig is one of the best baseball
players to ever step on the diamond. He played all 17 of his seasons for the New York Yankees, and
wore the number 4. As a child Gehrig suffered very repeating occurrences of epileptic seizures. His
childhood illness would eventually come back later in his life to play a huge factor of his early
retirement. Born in Manhattan on June 19 1903, Lou Gehrig had a very difficult childhood. His father
failed to keep a job because of his obsession to alcohol. So, the only reason why Gehrig was such a
huge success was because of the encouragement of his mother Christina. Both of his sisters were
killed due to measles and many other diseases that were spreading during that time. He also had a
younger brother die in infancy. Gehrig did not have some privileges that other kids had. He had to
help his mom around the house because it was practically just him and his mother. As Gehrig reached
High School he was not playing the sport that he will eventually become one of the greatest to ever

The Individual And Technology
The Individual and Technology A Contemporary Issue
GENETIC PROFILING
2800 6500
Executive Summary
Effects of Technology
The Australian Institute of Criminology has produced documentations explaining the technique of
DNA identification compares the DNA of two bodily samples to ascertain whether or not they came
from the same human being. Identity of DNA in the cells across both samples implies that the samples
are derived from the same person (or identical twins); non identity implies different human sources.
Beginning in the mid 1980s, the development of DNA analysis technology has revolutionised the field
of forensic science within the criminal justice system. As the refinement of procedures and technology
continues, even minute samples of biological material (including blood, saliva, semen and skin cells)
are able to be analysed and used to link or acquit perpetrators of crimes. (Whitney, R n.d.)

Good And Evil In The Film Versions Of Cinderella
Fairy tales are constantly changing as they are told overtime. The fairy tale of Cinderella has evolved
drastically throughout the several versions of short stories, books, and films that have been released
since the first story in1697. Since then, the stories have progressed, as well as the films, in a way that
fit better for children. The Disney film versions of Cinderella have become increasingly popular in a
way that many viewers have the idea of what a Cinderella story consists of. The existence of the

Being the first African American Cinderella and a remake of Rodgers and Hammerstein s 1957
musical, Cinderella, the story s plot is very similar to the 1950 Disney animated film. Cinderella
stands up for what she believes in much more than she does in previous films. An example of this
would be when Cinderella speaks to her stepsisters towards the opening of the film, as both stepsisters
try to find out if a particular hat looks better on one of them, but Cinderella makes it known that the
hat isn t flattering on either of them. Cinderella makes comments like this throughout the film, but
never in a rude or demeaning way. When she expresses remarks in this instance, she says it in a calm
and respectful manner. So, although her character is a bit spiced up, she is still extremely kind.
Cinderella also comes to realization that there are some things that have to be worked for rather than
sitting just dreaming and wishing for things to fall into place as she states in the film, You know what
the problem is with most people? They sit around wishing for something to happen instead of doing
something about it (Wilson 2015). Although there are the same gentle characters in this film as in
previous films, Cinderella is not close to the mice in her house, but she develops a relationship with

Case Study Of The Volkswagen Emission Scandal
Introduction
This Case Study will look into the Volkswagen emission scandal and they key corporate issues that
underline it. A case Study is a process or record of research into the development of a particular group
over a period of time. I am writing this Case Study for the purpose of researching and analyzing how a
company like Volkswagen, which was named no. 8 on Forbes fortune 500 list in 2014, could be
involved in one of the biggest scandals in this decade.
Volkswagen group sells passenger cars under Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Audi, Porsche, Seat,
Škoda and of course Volkswagen itself and is one of the biggest car manufacturers in the World.
Unfortunately in 2015 it emerged that Volkswagen was involved in unlawful practice regarding their
diesel cars not meeting emission standards and how they tried to rectify this problem in an unlawful
manner. My paper will be divided into two key parts: The Case Study and The Case Analysis. In the
case study I will give an overview of what happened in the Volkswagen emissions scandal, which is
still ongoing, I will give a background and context to all the key parties involved and then depict the
key events that shape this scandal. Secondly, I will do the Case Study Analysis where I will identify

Christianity and Islam are religions are two of world s most widespread religions. Both religions when

Islamic art and early Christian art both are historically important as both are similar in some ways.
The most earliest architecture and first such structure from the Muslims is the Dome of the Rock
located in Jerusalem. When the Muslims conquered the city of Jerusalem in they needed a place

The dome of the rock was completed in a decade in which Muslims lost control of Hijaz and also

The High Price of Urban Sprawl Essay
Urban sprawl is a social pattern describing the way cities continue to grow outward uncontrollably.
People who do not want to live in an urban atmosphere often seek refuge in suburban areas that have
access to metropolitan areas. As more people follow this trend the suburban areas slowly become
developed and new areas must be sought for people to inhabit. This leaves some city workers
commuting in trains, cars, or even buses for hours. Urban sprawl is not the luxury that it seems to be
but actually a social pattern with a great deal of costs.

This means more traffic on highways, more people crowding on to trains and buses etc. Simple
economic principles enable us to see why commuting will get more and more expensive in the future.
In terms of motor vehicles, first more space will be needed to accommodate more vehicles on the
road. The United States citizens are going to have to pay for larger highways if the government
decides more highways or larger highways are needed. Although more or larger highways might seem
plausible to cure a traffic problem, more money will be needed to maintain these highways. This could
very well mean either more tolls on highways or tolls that cost more money, raising the price of the
daily commute. Once these cars reach their destination they must have a place to be parked. Car
centric cities suffer from parking problems in places where there is already so much money put
towards building parking decks or lots. The Newspaper USA today has an article called, Cars Drive

car centric cities require greater expenditures on transportation and infrastructure expenses that chip a

The Performance Of The Car Under Test
The analysis of the performance of the car under test was completed using AVL Cruise software.
Various Graphs are obtained so that the actual performance of the car can be determined. Graph 1
(Abundance) prominently shows the torque of the engine at the respective engine speed along with the
specific fuel consumption at that speed. Approximately 230Nm is the maximum torque that can be
obtained at 4200 rpm, trailed by decrease in torque for the remaining speed. A cycle run was
conducted for three different periods of cycle in which the vehicle was accelerated then hold and
decelerated for certain time depending upon the requirement of cycle. Graph 2 A shows the change in
velocity upon change in acceleration for three different cycle times. Also the shift of gears during the
period can be observed. Graph 2 B illustrates consumption of the fuel during the three different stages.
It can be noted that when the velocity was about 50 km/h the fuel consumption was about 5.0 l/h. Also
it significantly notifies that during idling the fuel consumption is 1.6 l/h. In this Graph it can be
inferred that the maximum operating pressure is 12 Bar for a speed of 4200rpm. Maximum fuel is
consumed during the start of the engine at 0.5 bar, fuel consumption gradually decreases with increase
in engine speed. Graph 3 speaks about the maximum operating pressure is 12 Bar for a speed of

Exploring The Effectiveness Of Team Building
Throughout the Management 345 Course there have been many opportunities to explore the
effectiveness of team building, both in theory and practical application. Within our community project
team, we were challenged with working through the logical and creative problem solving techniques
to come up with our successful solutions. The course work and team project has helped gain a good
perspective from within as team member but, more importantly a gained understanding of how
behaviors and personality traits affect team dynamics and overall team effectiveness. Learning,

Group identity is the extent to which people feel their group membership is an important part of who

Introduction: Street food, it is nigh impossible to ignore, some would say that it has become a quirk or
niche of particular societies, cultures and civilizations; and given it s presence on streets and other
public places it may certainly well be. The attention of the researchers had been drawn towards street
food owing to the fact that it is commonly associated with ideas of having a generally suspect nature,
having intriguing tastes, affordable and low prices, and of course being influenced by the stature of the
people which produce and sell them for consumption. Needless to say, this has given street food the

strong, man, named London. Mack arranges access to a field owned by Al s father, and organizes a
camp for the laborers, so that the authorities would have no jurisdiction on private land to thwart the
movement. The farmer agreed to the workers living on his land provided they harvest the apples from

Difference Between Lewis And Clark
With the roles of Lewis Clark clearly defined; Meriwether Lewis was determined to fulfill his special
interest and prove his pre journey training was valuable to the expedition. He set out to advance
scientific knowledge through discoveries in such areas as botany, biology, and zoology. Lewis love for
botany was well documented, however, he soon discovered that observing, documenting and in some
cases discovering new animal species rivaled his lifelong interest in flora and vegetation. After
Jackson commissioned Captain Lewis to take the journey, Lewis was sent to the American
Philosophical Society in Philadelphia to study for three months with Dr. Benjamin Rush. The training
proved to be invaluable when it came to the journey and

Whole Foods Market Overview
Whole Foods Market Background Whole Foods Market is an American based retail chain grocery
store. They strictly sell both natural and organic food, offering a variety of products. Natural refers to
food that is free of growth hormones or antibiotics, while certified organic food must meet the
standards of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Whole Foods Market is the leading retailer in
the natural and organic foods, with 193 stores in 31 states, Canada, and the United Kingdom. With
Whole Foods Market being the first retailer in the business, they never really had to worry about
competition. However, with the trends changing and people wanting to eat healthier and have healthier
lifestyles, the popularity of the natural and organic products have increased. This means that Whole
Foods Market s competition is growing because different stores are catering to the consumers wants.
So, since Whole Foods Market is the leading market retailer, how are they going to continue to grow
in an increasingly competitive market? This question can be simply answered: they will be able to
continue to grow because of their strategic plan.
Combating an Increasing Competitive Market A strategic plan will basically layout the goals and the
general direction of what the company wants to accomplish. A great way to analyze a strategic plan is
a strategic audit. A strategic audit is a checklist of questions about a certain aspect of the company or
issue that triggers a deeper analysis

Labor Movement In The 1800s
Labor Movement During the late 1800 s America became involved in a large labor movement that
would shape history. As America was becoming more industrialized, the need for workers increased
overnight. The workplace was changing as machines became common and the demand for unskilled
workers brought new groups into the workforce including immigrants, women, and children
(Aboukhadijeh). The desperation from both employees and employers brought awareness to working
conditions. Employees desired better working conditions, increased wages, and decreased working
hours. Communicating with employers proved to be futile and fueled union movements. Union
members would go on strike to force companies to meet their demands. Sometimes it would work and
when it didn t, companies would lock out employees and bring in new workers to do the job. These
actions led to violent protests, riots, and arrests. The Pinkertons were hired as security by companies
during these trying times. Toward the end of the 19th century, the agency became more involved in
labor disputes, always on the side of management (Crawford). The Pinkertons were labeled as villains
by workers as blood was shed during these conflicts. Coal mining was one of the industries heavily
affected by the strikes in which the Pinkertons would become involved with. Working conditions were
already substandard due to the process of mining coal. Mine workers were exposed to safety hazards,
long working hours and inhaled toxic

Taylor Character Analysis Of Edward Bloor
The way Edward Bloor reveals Victor s character is to show that although he may seem mean, and
tough he cares about his friends, and is passionate about soccer. During the soccer game against
Kinnow Middle School when Victor s head started to bleed he was stubborn, and insisted on playing.
Even when the coach had tried to convince Victor that he has to get to the emergency room, he argued
multiple times. When Victor finally decided that he couldn t play he motivated the team, and started
yelling War! War! War! . The thing about Victor is that he is extremely stubborn. For example, when
his head started bleeding, he was still determined to win the game even though Kinnow beat them
before. Before he left, the best thing he could do was

Core Ethical Standards
Within my own career, I plan to follow certain core ethical values as a mandatory requirement. In my
personal life, I have dealt with a lot of negative people or situations, which have left me with a
positive outcome; I have learned what NOT to do or who NOT to be. People have left me, lied to my
face, cheated, disrespected, been untruthful or dishonest, and have broken promises, etc. Within each
of these situations I took the high route instead of being down in the dumps. And I have heard growing
up from my parents, We can learn more from our failures than from our wins, or we can learn more
from a bad boss than a good boss. Because sometimes we need to see what NOT to do to appreciate

Behavior Paradigms
Rationalist vs. Behavioralist Paradigm Problems 1. During the last five years, your instructor has
discussed the emerging field of behavioral finance with many colleagues. The most common reaction
has been for those colleagues to smile and say, Behavioral finance? That s an oxymoron. Oxymoron is
defined as a combination of contradictory or incongruous words (e.g. cruel kindness). Explain this
reaction using a) the concept of paradigm and b) attributes of the behavioral and rational paradigms. a)
According to the concept of a paradigm, someone in finance would operate on a set of principles that
their work is based upon. It is the method by which they analyze their data. Under this philosophy the

Kuhn has been even more distressed by those who admiringly misinterpret him. I ve often said that I
am much fonder of my critiques than my fans, he comments. In the 1960s his work was seized on by
radicals opposed to science and its offspring, technology, and indeed to any cognitive authority that
might distort pure experience. Kuhn recalls students telling him, Oh, thank you, Mr. Kuhn, for telling
us about paradigms. Now that we know about them, we can get rid of them. a) How would Kuhn
address the criticism that he is claiming science to be nothing more than power politics or mob
psychology? b) He described it this way because sometimes scientists or people of science follow the
convention of multiple people with valid theories. They follow what was tested or theorized and
expand their research from that. It is similar to politics in that there is one individual that attempts to
persuade the many to follow them and that their ideas are the truth through experimentation. He would
address the criticism by reminding those that he still believes in science and that the idea of a
paradigm is not completely a bad thing, for if you can identify it you can strive to get rid of it and
progress in your thinking. b) Did the 60s radicals rid the world of paradigms? Why or why not? No,

Division Of Labor In Emile Durkheim, Adam Smith And Karl Marx
The division of labor is the process through which community members perform specialized types of
work with a common objective. This has received significant theoretical discussions based on social
thoughts from the theories of Emile Durkheim, Adam Smith and Karl Marx. Throughout human
history, the division of labor has been present from the cultural perspective in its most essential form.
Division of labor was mainly based on gender such as the case of hunter gather societies. In this case,
while women gathered food and took care of their children, men hunted for game meat. This paper
will discuss several theorists developed to define the concept of division of labor.
According to Muldoon (2013), increasing levels of specialization also lead to lack of enthusiasm
among workers in addition to reduced overall skills in their work. This perspective was refined and
extended by Karl Marx who was a popular economic theorist. However, Karl Marx labeled this
process as alienation, where workers were turned to be more specific individuals coupled with work
repetitious eventually becoming completely alienated (Calhoun 2012). In fact, Marx indicated that
such division of labor among workers was physically and emotionally depressing and compared it to a
machine s condition. In this regard, he was guided by the firm belief that the fullness of production
was a prerequisite to the process of attaining liberation in human beings and accepted the notion of a
strict division of labor as a necessary evil that was only temporary.
However, the most important theoretical contribution that Marx made towards the concept of an
economy, was his sharp distinction between the economic or technical division and social division of
labor (Muldoon 2013). That indicated that some form of co operation in employment was as a result
of technical necessities. However, some evidence suggested that others resulted due to the functions of
social control that is related to the concepts of status and class hierarchy (Calhoun 2012). If
individuals conflated these two roles, it often appears as though the existing labor division is
technically immutable and inevitable as opposed to the notion of an influenced or constructed by
power relationships.

Informative Essay About Basketball
What It Takes
Intro
Ever wonder what it takes to be a college athlete? Sure, the games and events are fun to watch but
what exactly goes into preparing for these events and games? I will tell you exactly what it takes and
what a college basketball player goes through because all the audience sees are the flashy views of the
sport. However, we will now take a look at the sport from the other side of the ball.
Background
The game of basketball was created by Dr. James Naismith in 1891. The original equipment of the
game was a literal peach basket and a soccer ball. By 1892 the first official game of basketball was
played in a YMCA in New York. Then by 1895 basketball was a standard sport and began to be played
all around even within high schools and colleges. In 1906 rims and back boards were made and by
1949 basketball could be played professionally. As the sport came along the skill level of players
increased and the game became flashier. Numerous professional legends were showcases like Michael
Jordan, Larry Bird, and Charles Barkley. Now the game is super complex and skill driven.
Sure, the sport is exciting to watch, but there is a vast number of things that the player puts into the
sport. A college basketball player puts countless hours into the sport. With the combined time of
treatment, practice, and lifting weights, that makes for a full load of work to go along with their school
work. The audience in which watching the game does not see the extra time and effort put

Jeff Kennett Gargoyle:
The Jeff Kennet Gargoyle is above the Eastern Transept. When you look up you will see two strange
faces carved in stone! One is a lion, the other is a man.
Gargoyles in Gothic Cathedrals were once thought of as protecting the building from evil spirits, they
also serve as water spouts.
For years Jeff Kennet (a former premier) was rumoured to have been the model for the gargoyle, as
the facial features are so similar. Tom Carson (the master stonemason) said, just a whim but in keeping
with a centuries old tradition .
Mr Carson also said that stone makers use lots of people in positions of power as muses for their
gargoyles.
It took Mr Carson 6 weeks to make the gargoyle. Around the cathedral you will also notice lots of
other gargoyles resembling animals or creatures.
Memorial Tablets:
In the North Transept there are memorial tablets that commemorate the lives of archbishops that are
buried within the cathedral grounds.
Mosaics:

Kelli Rowswell WRT 105 Mark Bousquet Rhetorical Analysis October 28th, 2016 I m the biggest hypocrite of 2015 : Kendrick Lamar s 2016 Grammy performance Well known American rapper and songwriter, Kendrick Lamar, in his influential performance at the 2016 Grammy Awards while singing Blacker the Berry off his 11 time nominated album To Pimp a Butterfly, recounts issues of racism in society, however, conveys a deeper meaning of hypocrisy towards the end of the song. In this essay, I will be doing a contextual analysis of Kendrick Lamar s 2016 Grammy performance. I argue the significant meaning throughout Lamar s performance, then I go outside the event and describe events in the outside world that related or could have perhaps provoked him to decide to perform those particular songs and I ll conclude by examining how those outside events could potentially alter our perception of the performance and the importance of knowing that information. The message Kendrick is trying to convey are very blunt and explicit throughout the entire song. • 3. The Grass Is Always Greener In Carl Sandburg s Grass The Grass Is Always Greener (Over the Cemetery): the Use of Proper Nouns, the Imperative Tense, and Tension Between the First and Third Person in Carl Sandburg s Grass When a battle is over, the field on which it was fought must look like a wound on the face of the earth: the blood soaked ground strewn with bodies, lying in mud churned by thousands of marching feet. Eventually, grass grows over the battlefield, hiding the evidence of the horrors that took place there under a blanket of green. In years to come, the area appears so unremarkable that passersby have no indication of what took place there. However, without remembrance, what is to stop history from continually repeating itself? Carl Sandburg, in his poem Grass, uses the imperative tense, proper nouns, and tension between the first person and the third person points of view to show that humanity repeats its mistakes because nature always conceals them. Sandburg uses proper nouns throughout the poem to emphasize the reality of wars fought and lives lost. By calling battles by their proper names, in ominous, measured sentences, he is peeling back, so to speak, the layer of grass concealing them. This technique makes it impossible to gloss over the atrocities that were committed. When he says, Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo (Line 1), And pile them high at Ypres and Verdun (5), he is naming specific places, where individuals died at a certain time. MANAGING A PROJECT TEAM Syed Tauseef Ali (Author) Civil Engineering Department Bradley University Peoria, Illinois syedtauseefali@mail.bradley.edu Abstract Managing a project team requires an understanding and knowledge of modern management as well as the knowledge of the design and construction process. Nowadays, associations in the development area use groups to meet today s global competition and client desires, however, they require better methods for assessing the viability of the groups. To guarantee that development groups are successful and viable, development organizations must advance, measure, and assess their groups viability. A project team is bound by a certain set of constraints, for example, delivering a construction project in a required time frame and so they need to see the big picture or have a clear set of goal planned in order to execute the project in time and with good quality. This paper is outlined to provide details regarding the roles and responsibilities of the different members involved in a project management team and what factors contribute to conflicts within the team and how they should be resolved. 1. INTRODUCTION Not all construction projects are same in size. Every project varies in size and scope with different approaches, different technologies but they all share the common issues when it comes to managing a project team [1]. While the food and visiting are important, the most important reason why K mart s parking lot is my favorite place is that it provides a great space to drag race remote controlled cars. There we have about one thousand feet of distance across the parking lot. Everyone starts on one end of the parking lot and races down to the other side. Then the cars turn around and race back to where we started. Racing five cars down the straightaway side by side can be difficult. If one person loses control of his car, that individual can take out one or all of the others at the same time. The winner of that day has the bragging rights until the next day or until the next race day. This it what makes it fun to be at the Kmart parking lot on Saturdays and Sundays. There is a lot of trash talk that goes on during the whole day. We have had people run into the curbs light poles while car parts go flying through the air. Watching it happen is funny for everyone but for the individual wrecking. Rubbing their misfortune in their faces makes them mad and also makes them try to fix their car and get back into the race to see if they can win or wreck all of the other cars at the same time. Once I am able to correctly perform said step, I have to keep practicing until I can perform it perfectly, then I can move on to the next step. Once a choreography is complete, we, as dancers, are supposed to rehearse it over and over again until we feel as confident as we can in order to be able to perform it in the theatre. I noticed many similarities in deindustrialization, metropolitan fragmentation, and the rights revolution between the piece and what we have discussed in class. Kruse states that when the desegregation of municipal spaces began to occur, everyone in Atlanta had the freedom to live in the best place that they could afford. There was metropolitan fragmentation, which is the segregating of a community into smaller municipal areas. White upper class Atlantans fled to more private areas such as suburbs while poor and mostly black people were left with the city, effectively redlining the community. When the wealthy white population left for the suburbs, they wanted to bring their money with them. While observing the ice cutters at Walden Pond, Thoreau comments on human effort to exploit nature, arguing that the actions are in vain as nature regenerates much faster than it can be threatened, which is very debatable due to the knowledge that there is only a finite amount of resources on the planet. Thoreau thoroughly believes in his idea of self reliance and states that there are only four necessities that should determine one s ability to survive: food, shelter, clothing, and fuel, many of which he believes nature provides graciously. The Hyatt Regency Disaster Kansas City Missouri The Hyatt Regency Disaster Kansas City Missouri July 17th, 1981 A brief summary of the underlying mechanical and ethical of this failure as a part of Mechanical Analysis and Design. Written By: Austin Bruce Hasan Polat MCET 450.02 Professor William Leonard The Hyatt Regency Hotel, the newest hotel built in Kansas City Missouri featuring an open atrium design at its entrance with floating walkways suspended on the second, third, and fourth floors. Only one year after its final construction did a suspended walkway fall, injuring and killing partygoers the night of July 17th, 1981. What may have initially appeared as an accident was the result of many factors including the design and construction of the walkways supports, but more importantly communication between all involved parties in its design and construction. Ethical concerns over this tragedy were raised as well as further investigation of possible negligence resulting in the deaths and injuries. The original walkway was designed to have single load bearing rods that would pass through the fourth floor walkways supporting beams, be supported with nuts and washers and hang the second floor walkway beneath as shown in the Original Detail in figure 1 . He played all 17 of his seasons for the New York Yankees, and wore the number 4. As a child Gehrig suffered very repeating occurrences of epileptic seizures. His childhood illness would eventually come back later in his life to play a huge factor of his early retirement. Born in Manhattan on June 19 1903, Lou Gehrig had a very difficult childhood. His father failed to keep a job because of his obsession to alcohol. So, the only reason why Gehrig was such a huge success was because of the encouragement of his mother Christina. Both of his sisters were killed due to measles and many other diseases that were spreading during that time. He also had a younger brother die in infancy. Gehrig did not have some privileges that other kids had. He had to help his mom around the house because it was practically just him and his mother. The Individual And Technology The Individual and Technology A Contemporary Issue GENETIC PROFILING 2800 6500 Executive Summary Effects of Technology The Australian Institute of Criminology has produced documentations explaining the technique of DNA identification compares the DNA of two bodily samples to ascertain whether or not they came from the same human being. Identity of DNA in the cells across both samples implies that the samples are derived from the same person (or identical twins); non identity implies different human sources. Beginning in the mid 1980s, the development of DNA analysis technology has revolutionised the field of forensic science within the criminal justice system. As the refinement of procedures and technology continues, even minute samples of biological material (including blood, saliva, semen and skin cells) are able to be analysed and used to link or acquit perpetrators of crimes. Cinderella stands up for what she believes in much more than she does in previous films. An example of this would be when Cinderella speaks to her stepsisters towards the opening of the film, as both stepsisters try to find out if a particular hat looks better on one of them, but Cinderella makes it known that the hat isn t flattering on either of them. Cinderella makes comments like this throughout the film, but never in a rude or demeaning way. When she expresses remarks in this instance, she says it in a calm and respectful manner. So, although her character is a bit spiced up, she is still extremely kind. Cinderella also comes to realization that there are some things that have to be worked for rather than sitting just dreaming and wishing for things to fall into place as she states in the film, You know what the problem is with most people? They sit around wishing for something to happen instead of doing something about it (Wilson 2015). Various Graphs are obtained so that the actual performance of the car can be determined. Graph 1 (Abundance) prominently shows the torque of the engine at the respective engine speed along with the specific fuel consumption at that speed. Approximately 230Nm is the maximum torque that can be obtained at 4200 rpm, trailed by decrease in torque for the remaining speed. A cycle run was conducted for three different periods of cycle in which the vehicle was accelerated then hold and decelerated for certain time depending upon the requirement of cycle. Graph 2 A shows the change in velocity upon change in acceleration for three different cycle times. Also the shift of gears during the period can be observed. Graph 2 B illustrates consumption of the fuel during the three different stages. It can be noted that when the velocity was about 50 km/h the fuel consumption was about 5.0 l/h. Also it significantly notifies that during idling the fuel consumption is 1.6 l/h. In this Graph it can be inferred that the maximum operating pressure is 12 Bar for a speed of 4200rpm. Maximum fuel is consumed during the start of the engine at 0.5 bar, fuel consumption gradually decreases with increase in engine speed. • 52. Division Of Labor In Emile Durkheim, Adam Smith And Karl Marx The division of labor is the process through which community members perform specialized types of work with a common objective. This has received significant theoretical discussions based on social thoughts from the theories of Emile Durkheim, Adam Smith and Karl Marx. Throughout human history, the division of labor has been present from the cultural perspective in its most essential form. Division of labor was mainly based on gender such as the case of hunter gather societies. In this case, while women gathered food and took care of their children, men hunted for game meat. This paper will discuss several theorists developed to define the concept of division of labor. According to Muldoon (2013), increasing levels of specialization also lead to lack of enthusiasm among workers in addition to reduced overall skills in their work. This perspective was refined and extended by Karl Marx who was a popular economic theorist. However, Karl Marx labeled this process as alienation, where workers were turned to be more specific individuals coupled with work repetitious eventually becoming completely alienated (Calhoun 2012). In fact, Marx indicated that such division of labor among workers was physically and emotionally depressing and compared it to a machine s condition. In this regard, he was guided by the firm belief that the fullness of production was a prerequisite to the process of attaining liberation in human beings and accepted the notion of a strict division of labor as a necessary evil that was only temporary. However, the most important theoretical contribution that Marx made towards the concept of an economy, was his sharp distinction between the economic or technical division and social division of labor (Muldoon 2013). That indicated that some form of co operation in employment was as a result of technical necessities. However, some evidence suggested that others resulted due to the functions of social control that is related to the concepts of status and class hierarchy (Calhoun 2012). If individuals conflated these two roles, it often appears as though the existing labor division is technically immutable and inevitable as opposed to the notion of an influenced or constructed by power relationships. ...
