Religious Views On The Fringe
Being from a small, conservative town, being called a liberal is meant insultingly. Being called
atheist was synonymous with devil worshipper . Yet, for a time, I was atheist leaning and still
am a liberal. Being on the fringe has often led to a series of confrontations that have shaped my
political and religious views, occasionally making me as prejudiced as the people who I felt were
attacking me. Thankfully, these confrontations have forced me to educate myself and have made
me strong in my opinions. While my religious and political views have often been heavily related,
they have evolved heavily over time as I matured and learned about the world.
Originally, I was raised to be a Christian. My parents were not strict church goers, but the concept
of God was certainly prevalent in my life. Being raised outside of a church community allowed me
the ability to formulate my own opinions on religion. My father wanted this experience for me. He
was baptized Catholic as a baby, but with age realized he did not agree with the traditions of the
Catholic Church. This experience influenced him to allow me to be able to choose how I wanted to
be baptized.
Due to this, I settled for a Tom T. Hall Me and Jesus Have Our Own Thing Going mentality until I
was a teenager. Instead I was governed by principles such as honesty, charity, respect, and loyalty. I
did not attend church regularly, occasionally read the bible, and was not baptized but I did try to
strengthen my moral

Louis Pasteur And Lister
Pasteurization and Listerine came from the names of pioneers against germs, who improved the
affects of medicine. Experimenting in the late 1800s, scientists Louis Pasteur in France, then
Joseph Lister in England, made discoveries that revolutionized patient health. Their work
eliminated some of the health risks patients experienced throughout medical processes. Both Louis
Pasteur and Joseph Lister transformed treatment, to the process and eventually to the patient during
the Industrial Revolution.
Before scientific improvements introduced by Pasteur and Lister, there was a lack of cleanliness
throughout the surgical process. Medical theory misunderstood the importance of a cleanliness
protocol, these faults resulted in sepsis and outpatient deaths. Though the actual surgery would be a
success, Ward Fever would claim lives afterwards. Louis Pasteur and Joseph Lister brought to light
the effects of illness and benefits of sterilization.
Louis Pasteur, a French chemist and biologist, founded the concept of temperature as a way to
kill germs. He showed that microorganisms caused liquids such as milk, wine and beer to spoil.
He invented a process in association with Claude Bernard in which liquids such as milk were
heated to kill bacteria and moulds present and then cooled to normal temperature (Louis Pasteur
Famous Inventors). Discovered in 1864, Pasteurization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

post surgery recovery. Together they are remembered for their contribution to modern medical
science, and so it is appropriate that a process and product are named for

President Of Meridian Water Pumps A Little Water Pump...
Introduction: John Lopez, president of Meridian Water Pumps a little water pump maker was
holding a meeting with the department managers. They were currently arranging the creation of
medium sized pumps for the following 6 months. Mr. Lopez endured a portion of the contending

answer and a meeting of the key players would be fit for pushing ahead with dissolving their

Analysis Of Victor s The Of A Demon Hunter
Victor Vran is a demon infested isometric shooter taking place during the Victorian period. The
protagonist is Victor Vran a demon hunter located in the city of Zagoravia. As the demon infestation
gets worse our demon hunters grow thin. Victor, while unclear of his motives, makes it clear that he
needs to help the city. Unfortunately, Victor is harassed by a voice in his head that has ulterior
motives.
Victor Vans story is satisfying to say the least. I d consider it novel. The plot unfolds well with
fantastic writing, character development, and composition. The city of Zagarovia provides us as a
safe haven for trade while a world map offers us the ability to jump to and from locations.
The game offered an excellent tutorial to teach the player the controls I enjoy a game that can
mask the tutorial with a great story. For example, Victor Vran enters the Fallen Keep on his way
to Castle Zagore and runs into what seems like a deteriorated guards training room; they use this
opportunity to refine the relationship between Victor and the voice in his head. You can also see
the games sense of humor parallel to the how to s .
The gameplay is tightly knitted to mesh well with any play style. It also offers a nice variety of
unconventional weapons, Scythes, shotguns, and swords decorated with interesting names all with
variable stats. Each weapon has one attack and two special attacks while having the ability to
possess one demon attack that you can find and equip throughout

American History: Our Hope for the Future As I peer out the bus window I am amazed by the
sight. A large, oval shaped setup outlined with high cement pillars representing every state and
territory who participated. As I get off the bus and get a closer look I notice wreaths stationed at
both the Pacific and Atlantic sides, connecting everything in a form of celebration. In the center,
water dances up into the sky and trickles back into the pool, ready to go again. Old Glory can be
seen greeting me to this happy place. I walk around to each pillar, in awe at its greatness. A

I didn t fight. He told me bluntly after a few moments. I didn t press any further. To finish my
project I asked my great uncle, who fought in combat. He informed me that my grandpa had to
help clean up the concentration camps and battlefields after the war had concluded. No wonder
he didn t want to talk about it. As I walk my way through the museum, I cannot bring myself to
speak. I read every board, poster, and analyzed every picture. Soon I made my way around a
corner and a room could be seen up ahead. As I step into the room, it find it hard to take breaths.
On both sides of the walk are shoes of the murdered. I couldn t believe the sight, the smell, or the

start to imagine what my grandfather had to go through. War can cause great destruction to those
involved directly, indirectly, and even many decades later. The history my grandfather faced not
only impacted his future, but mine as well. I may never get to know what my grandfather

Essay On Hand Swaging Bullets
In this week s reflection assignment the required viewing material was a video that addressed the
topic of hand swaging bullets.
The video gave an overview of the projectiles themselves and also showed the method in which
they are to be loaded.
The video began by stating that the projectiles were sent to him to be tested and he did not
swage the swaged projectiles that are being shown in the video. The projectiles were unique in
the fact that the person that swaged them used a die that would allow the used brass from a .40 S
W to be formed into a jacket for a .451 caliber projectile that are to used to load .45 ACP. The
video states that it will give the user a greater amount of versatility when using the projectile as
opposed to using a cast bullet. There were two different types of projectiles to be tested in the
video. The first being a standard lead core projectile and the second projectile has a .30 caliber gas
check in the nose of the cartridge. These swaged bullets were very comparable to factory
ammunition in terms of diameter and weight. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The video states that his main purpose for showing to loading method is to determine whether
or not the loading of these projectiles will differ from loading normal commercial projectiles. In
the video the barrel of the pistol being used to test fire the loaded round was removed to be used as
a length gauge in the reloading process. To use the barrel to check the length the loaded bullet
will need to be placed in the chamber to ensure that it will seat fully and also that is will fall free of
the chamber. The reloading press being used in the video was a Lee classic reloading press. Even
while loading these swaged projectiles the reloader chose to keep the amount of powder the same

Praxis Project Analysis
For This semester everyone in class was expected to participate in a praxis project as our final
project this semester. When i first heard of the assignment my reaction at first was confusion
because I ve never heard of this type of project before. Once the the directions were explained the
goal was simple, each individual had to pick a cause they felt passionate about and they had to
either inform, or bring awareness towards that cause. For my praxis project i decided to go out and
spread awareness toward autism and to inform others about autism sense this past mont was autism

April is autism awareness month, and because i work with children who are on the autism

seeing how much fun we had doing this, spreading this cause, i decided to take this same idea and
use it towards my project. ! Now that we understand where the idea came from i can now talk about
the efforts that went into this project. This part of the project became a little tricky because of the
abundance of information that there is on this topic, but also because often times the websites you

Issues In The Ballet World

Research Paper Issues in the Ballet World
The world of ballet is generally seen as the art of stick thin, white, high class girls dressed in pointe
shoes, glamorous tutus, and tiaras, dancing with their prince in the spotlight. Considering the
history of ballet, it is not surprising that it has gained this reputation. The term ballet blanc
originates from the excessive use of white in many professional ballets. As glamorous as it is,
ballet has been considered racist since many non white dancers do not seem to fit the body type
standards created by George Balanchine. This ideal body type describes what is perceived to be the
perfect ballet body. In recent years, the issues of ballet s lack of diversity and ... Show more content

Even now, ballets are considered an art form that only the decently wealthy can ever enjoy. With all
the sparkling diamonds and jewels, pointe shoes, glamorous makeup, extravagant theaters, and
costumes, it is not surprising that wealth is also commonly associated with ballet. The high ticket
prices serve as the main reason why very few people other than the rich are exposed to the art,
thus discouraging people of a lower economic status to ever experience it. For instance, to see
something as iconic as the Nutcracker, one ticket could start around $100 $150. In order to take
classes, get the proper attire, buy costumes, and makeup, it could cost families quite a lot of
money, even in a small local company. Bigger companies, such as the New York City Ballet
have classes that start at about $100 a class, and since many professional/semi professional
dancers are required to take a class every day of the week, it would be roughly $700 for a week,
if that dancer only takes one class a day. This high rate for classes limits how many people are
able to partake in ballet, but even if someone with a diverse background is able to pay this price,
they might still be turned away from companies and productions since some companies do not
accept minorities. It is not the fact that there are fewer minorities in the US that could contribute
to the lack of color in ballet, in fact, it is the complete opposite. The race demographics of the
US from the 1980 s to around 2010 show that there has been a 5.07% increase of people of
Spanish descent, a 1.08% increase of African Americans, and a constant increase of people who are
of Asian descent. Even with these increases in numbers, most companies have not become more
diverse, but while some companies have evolved, not many have changed

Social Theories of Karl Marx and Maw Weber
There are many sociological issues in the world today that can relate back to the concept theories
that Karl Marx and Max Weber formed many years ago. Although there are too many for us to go
further in depth on, I chose to primarily focus on Racism and Classism. With the perspectives of
these theorists in mind I can explain how Racism, Classism, in conjunction with Feminism are
among the largest social problems human beings face in the world today.
Both theorists have different theories of the social concept Classism, however they are not that
much different from one another. Karl Marx utilizes the term proletariat to refer to the working
class . Marx views the members of each class as sharing their own distinctive culture. Max Weber...

This allows us to raise our brows to the problems with socialism, and where the government is
failing us. Marx used the concept of class consciousness to refer to a subjective awareness held by
members of a class regarding their common vested interests and need for collective political action
to bring about social change.
According to Marx, class is qualitatively different from gender and race and cannot be considered
just another system of oppression. Globally racism and sexism differs depending on the
situation, but in nature produces the same issues. Racism is a major social problem in more than
just one part of the world. There is not a connection between certain races and how they are
treated in similar countries, there is a drift among racially divided cultures. For example, 1/4
white men who use coke are caught for it while 1/17 black men who use it are caught. The number
of white to black users are the same, however the conviction rate is very different.
Feminism is another social problem troubling human societies all over the world. Feminism is an
issue of Dominance of Men over Women around the world. The feminist theory is a result of the
general movement to empower women worldwide. According to Weber feminism can be defined as

The Inquiry Approach to Learning Essay
Inquiry is an interactive way of learning. Students are actively engaged in their studies. Inquiry
involves student centered activities focusing on questioning, exploring, and posing explanations.
The goal of inquiry is to introduce a new way of learning where students can learn about the world
around them through active engagement in real life examples. Inquiry based learningcan be
incorporated into all academic subjects throughout the curriculum. Sciencecould possibly be the

Quantitative Techniques Used By Marketing Costing, Time...
Abstract In today s competitive world, apart from a few isolated cases (e.g. luxury goods), the
selling price of a product is predefined by the market because customers are not willing to pay
more than a certain amount of money for the product. Hence cost is one of the most influential
factors in the outcome of a product or service. Hence over the past years different costing
techniques are evolved such as operation based approach, case based, break down approach, feature
based costing, Activity based costing, time driven activity based costing etc. These techniques are
classified based on techniques with similar features. They are mainly classified into qualitative
techniques and quantitative techniques. Qualitative costestimation techniques are based on a
comparison analysis of a new product with the products that have been manufactured previously in
order to identify the similarities in the new one. Whereas the quantitative techniques are based on a
detailed analysis of a product design, its features, and corresponding manufacturing processes.
Therefore quantitative techniques are more preferred. Time driven activity based costing is a
relatively new tool based on quantitative technique.
This article provides a comprehensive literature review of Time Driven Activity Based Costing
(TDABC), which is used to improve the cost allocation to products in manufacturing industry. This
paper presents evolution of costing techniques and TDABC. It also gives detailed description

characteristics or experiences, are statistically more likely than other youth to encounter certain
problems legal, social, financial, educational, emotional, and health in the future (qtd. At Risk

As I Lay Dying is an archetypal novel where the journey the characters embark on is a model for
others. Little Miss Sunshine, a movie rather than a novel, takes the basics of As I Lay Dying and
alters them to form a more modern version with a slightly different storyline. Little Miss Sunshine
successfully interprets the journey in As I Lay Dying because aspects of both the characters and
their trek emulate that of the novel As I Lay Dying.
The major events in the journey of the Hoovers in Little Miss Sunshine are analogous to that of

his unique personality, folks say [he] is queer [and] lazy and he is generally looked down upon

Frank, because of his sexuality and his attempted suicide, is also different than those around
him. He is misunderstood and judged by others, even by some within his own family. Both
become outsiders in their respective families, in part because they distance themselves, and also
because they are simply different than the others in their family. They are both smarter than the

that he is able to infer things that most do not notice. He somehow knows that Dewey Dell is

The Relationship Between School Choice And Segregation
School choice is a hot topic at the moment in the politics throughout Texas. Many seem to be
against it, but see the benefits in the choice. Through this paper I research what the relationship
between school choice and segregation is. Through this paper I will explore the isolation of the
English language learning students and the challenges they face because of it. The location of
schools and that reflects in their students, policies of the schools, and of the programs that they offer.
Literature Review
Charter schools enroll larger proportions of minority and low‐income students and smaller
proportions of White students than traditional district public schools statewide: African American
students make up 33% of the students in Texas open‐enrollment charter schools compared to
14% in Texas public schools, overall. Hispanic students make up 48% of the students enrolled in
open‐enrollment charter schools, compared to the state average of 46%. Open‐enrollment
charter schools have a higher percentage of economically disadvantaged students (70%) than the
state average (56%), a lower percentage of students classified as limited‐English proficient
(14%) than the state average (16%), and a lower percentage of students served in special education
(10%) than the state average (11%). o Campus charter schools serve predominantly Hispanic and

powerlessness have created polarity specially in post colonial period, bringing in frustration,
alienation, identity crisis and at times even revolt. J.M. Coetzee s Disgracedepicts the struggle of a
white man and his daughter in quest for their lost identity being the victims of the racial revolt and
sexual assault. The impact of post apartheid context is the main concern reflecting the social status
of South Africans. The legacy of the apartheid still haunts the country despite it being ended legally.
Robbery, rape, vandalism haunt the nation. The novel indicates that how pressing circumstances
may lead to devastation and also that transformation within does not necessarily bring in the
desired change in society. Physical abuse should not be used as the easiest way of revolt against

Disgrace is no exception to this. Racism and colour discrimination have been the remarkable and
dominating forces . In many ways, this is a story about the powerful and powerless. Initially,
David Lurie is in a role of power which turns to powerlessness after a sad turn of events. David, a
professor who is reciting a poem by Byron to his class, states that the poem is about a fallen
angel condemned to solitude (34). This poem in some ways foreshadows what is to become of
David s life. He is a failure at love who loses his job and reputation, moves in with his daughter

How Hockey Began In Montreal In The 1980 s
How Hockey Began
Hockey began in Montreal in the 1800 s. It began with a stick a rock and a frozen pond, the game
started spreading around like wildfire, things were being added and changed with every group of
people trying to create there own version of hockey but in the 1850 s the first games of ice hockey
were played, and in the 1870 s, the first set of ice hockey rules were written by a group of students
at McGill University in Montreal.
These rules set up the use of a puck replacing a ball and decided the number of players to be nine
per team. In the 1880 s the first organization of the first amateur hockey league was created. Over
the next several years, ice hockey s popularity spread over all of Canada. It was around 1893 that ice

African American Racial Relations
Academic researchers as well as media commentators frequently argue that race relations in the
United States have worsened considerably over the past decade. Many Americans would disagree or
have different views on the previous statement being true. As the years go by, society is
continuously modified and changed through innovation, discovery, and cultural awareness. The
term racerelations is peculiar. It is not about racial conflict, racial domination, racism, or racial
formation. Instead it has a palliative orientation: improving the way in which two or more races and
their members act toward one another (Howard 2009:1852).
In a recent interview, when asked where we stand on the topic of race relations President Barack
Obama stated, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

tribes, but a nation of them white and black, Christian and Muslim, and many others, too. Its
sense of nationalism has evolved unevenly; slowly incorporating an ever growing chunk of the
people within its borders, and it has made steady progress (Vance 2016). Back in 1960, over 50%
of Americans said they would never vote for a black president. Ironically, forty eight years later
Barack Obama became the first African American to be elected president in 2008 and four years
later was re elected, in 2012. This is just one of many examples of racial progression in the United
States. For instance, a 2013 Gallup poll found that, in 1958, only 4% of Americans approved of
black white marriage, but now 87% of Americans approve of multiracial marriage (Newport 2013).
Sociologists traditionally view multiracial marriage as a benchmark for the ultimate stage of
assimilation of a particular group into society, which exemplifies racial progress in America ()

Theme Of Symbolism In Catcher In The Rye
The Catcher in the Rye: Prompt 3 In the novel, Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger uses a
variety of symbols to support the thematic idea that maturation and the loss of innocence are an
inescapable rite of passage for all of humanity. Three significant symbols that signify the
importance of alteration and losing one s purity to become more suited to live in the real world
are the ducks in the lagoon of Central Park, the Catcher in the Rye , and the carousel and the
gold ring. Furthermore, these three symbols hold a significant meaning for the main
protagonist, Holden Caulfield as well. Holden, the main character, encounters many moments
where he doesn t know where to go or what to do next. To aid him in his decision making, Holden
resides with the ducks of Central Park. These ducks are a powerful symbol that the author
utilizes in his novel to describe Holden s journey toward maturity. Furthermore, Holden ponders
whether the ducks are taken away and put into a zoo to be cared for when the pond freezes at
Central Park or if they are abandoned to fly away and fend for themselves. Holden revisits the
question of the ducks when he doesn t know if he should return to his parents or learn to live on
his own. Constantly, each time the ducks appear in the story, Holden s maturity becomes
augmented. For example, I stopped having a conversation with him, if he was going to get so damn
touchy about it. But he started it up again himself. He turned all the way around again, and

The Importance Of The Land Of Opportunity In America
Land of Opportunity for Everyone. The United States is a very diverse country, which makes it
the most unique out of every other place in the world. What helps this wonderful country of
opportunity become what it is to this day is because of the immigrants who traveled here.
Coming from a family of immigrants I know first hand what my grandparents and parents had to
go through to earn the life they gave me today. Immigrants are an important part in our society.
They do the work that most people don t want to do. As in, work in factories, construction sites,
and on farms. Immigrants help run a high demand country, so why get rid of them? They have a
purpose here. Everyone around the world knows that America is the Land of Opportunity .
People work so hard just to come here and start a new life. They all want to experience the
American Dream . To us, this is a normal lifestyle. If you look at immigrants situations closely,
you see their country s trouble and how over there they have it much worse. Wouldn t you want to
give them an opportunity where you and they know is better? So many countries in Europe are
having a hard time and people want to escape that and move to the States to start fresh. My
grandparents moved to Chicago from Poland when my mom was 19. They worked tremendously
hard to make enough money to make sure they were set for the future. They are lucky that they got
to come here and turn their life around and make sure that my brother and I didn t have to

Explain Why Was The Vietnam War Bad
This essay is about why the Vietnam War was bad. There are more negative reasons for the
Vietnam War to be bad, than there are positive reasons. Some of the negatives are The Gulf of
Tonkin, the Vietcong, Operation Rolling Thunder, Underground Tunnels/Traps, Napalm, Agent
Orange, The War poem and Billy don t be a Hero poem give reasons for it to be a bad thing. The
Gulf of Tonkin was passed in 1964 and gave President Johnson authorization. It launched America s
involvement in the VietnamWar. It was a negative because citizens wouldn t agree on it, and
because of this there was not a lot of funding for the war. Operation Rolling Thunder is a bombing
campaign over North Vietnam to soften up the enemy, but it has also killed a lot of kids and
women and animals and also destroyed a lot of jungle and native plant life. The tunnels and traps

Some other negatives are Agent Orange. Agent Orange is a chemical the US used to destroy
plant life in the jungle and destroy food supply. It also had a delayed effect on the soldiers and
people near it, causing cancer and birth defects in the natives. Napalm was really bad because it
burned people alive, sometimes landing on our people and napalm does not come off it has to
burn off. The Vietcong were really dangerous, they know the jungle inside and out and where
masters in jungle traps and gorilla warfare which our soldiers didnt know, which got alot killed.
The Vietnam War was not our war, we were in terrain we didn t know and a war we didn t know
how to fight, we didn t even have full permission to be there. My Lai massacre is where the
government leaders gave orders to kill entire villages to kill out the Vietcong which would hide in

Speech A Speech On Shoes
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. It s my great honor to be here today to present my speech.
Before I start my speech I d like to ask you a question. If you had a chance to travel around the
world, what would you take with you? Maybe many of you would choose money, credit card,
parents, boyfriend or girlfriend. But my answer is shoes, a pair of shoes that fits me well.
Maybe to you, a pair of shoes is the last thing you would choose to take, but can you imagine the
picture that we walk or run without shoes? I believe none of you here is barefooted while listening
to my speech. Then it s doubtless that shoes are really essential and thus shoes are greatest

kinds of health care shoes that can ease the pain of our feet. Shoes combine people s needs,

Essay On The Destructors
The Destructors is a short story written by Graham Greene that takes place in 1954. This story
is set in England after World War II, and focuses on a group of boys known as the Wormsley
Common gang. They are a group of lower class boys who spend their days pulling off petty
crimes. It is when a newcomer, Trevor, arrives that their most elaborate plan forms. Trevor, who
comes to be known as T., lived the beginning of his life in the upper class, but due to the loss of
his father s job, he now lives in a lower class neighborhood. He is the one who develops the plan
to utterly destroy elderly Mr. Thomas s house, who lives just across the street from where they all
meet. By the end of the story, the gang is completely successful in their plans, but readers are left

Science Of Economics By Neuroscientist Marco Iacaboni
4. Mirror neurons are a major component in brain functioning, and thus it gives them a primary role
in pscyho economic reasoning. Their integral nature in decision making produces various outlying
effects like contagion and feeds into instinctual behaviors such as confidence. The neurons, which
were popularized within the field of economicsby neuroscientist Marco Iacaboni, have since
played a big role in discerning group dynamics. Mirror neurons themselves are a pivotal factor in
bridging perception and action as they help prep responses. As discovered by four Italian
scientists in Parma, Italy, mirror neurons fire as a function of perception, but it may not lead to any
discernable action. Put more straightforward, mirror neurons are a set of neurons that produce a
mirror like firing sequence in response to a stimulus, but they do not necessarily cause any physical
motor reaction. The scientists who first proposed this phenomenon showed that neurons present in
the premotor cortex of macaque monkeys showed near parallel bursts of activity between a
perception and actual execution of a particular task, in this case grasping an object. Mirror neurons
are unique as they are universal in the brain. They mirror actions, emotions, and even potentially
sentiments. Moreover, Iacaboni even went as far to suggest they serve as the basis for complex
states such as morality. In this sense mirror neurons have the potential to be major factors within
group dynamics as they can

Dream Interpretation Research Paper
Dream interpretation is an old tradition that dates back at least as far as Biblical times. Perhaps
the most famous instance of dream interpretation is where the Pharaoh tells David his dreams
about seven skinny sheep eating seven fat sheep and seven skinny ears of corn eating seven fat
ears of corn. David interpreted this to mean seven years of bumper crops followed by seven years
of poor crops. With proper planning, this allowed the Pharaoh to protect his people from potential
famine during the coming lean years.
Dreams can be a means to tap into subconscious thought processes and tell us what we know that
we don t even consciously realize that we know. But we are also more psychically sensitive when
we sleep. So our dreams can contain extra sensory information that is unavailable to most people
when they are awake. Most premonitions of the future actually occur in dream form, not in waking
visions.

something bothering you or being stabbed in the back to express a feeling of betrayal and so forth.
Especially at first, or when you are going through a particularly stressful time when the stakes are

These business sell the most by the demand of the consumer, this allows the easiest profit for a
short run. Oligopoly means that an industry is dominated by a small number of sellers with market
power. They can limit and discount competition. A good example are the cell phone companies
such as Verizon or Sprint. They are their own competition and the government only regulates them
but does not intervene with their sales practices. Monopoly markets used to be the way of the past.
Companies had only one provider who offers a good or a service. Monopolies have no one to
compete against nor did it allow others to get in the competition race with its product. As a
monopoly the company can set price, and who to sell it to. It does not allow others to emulate
what it sells. The monopolies don t have competitors so they mostly maintain their customers. The
National Football League is somewhat an example. They have exclusive rights to sell goods, they
have no competition and most of the products sold are solemnly offered by or through them. If any
other business uses their logo they must pay a fee.
There is an Army base in Fort Lee Virginia. Although it is believed to belong to the U.S

survivability of the corporation in today s business world. Today we will put our focus on one of
UK s largest multinational oils company s. In the case with British Petroleum (BP) as it actively
explores oil in 26 countries around the world, due to BP s lack of focus on the safety issues
presented in the 2004 Telos Group report coupled with the oversight and control to correct safety

injuring 180 other personnel as stated by Halbert and Ingulli (2012, pg. 185) An investigation by
the Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board released a report in 2007 that revealed process
safety leadership issues starting with senior managementas well as disregarding safety concerns
throughout BP. This paper will attempt to look at various details of the Critical Success Factor of

through project benefits, risk culture and organizational readiness. In this paper we will also
provide project risk recommendations that will allow companies to plan accordingly when dealing

Now who in the armed forces does following orders apply to? Well if I m not mistaken everyone
in armed services has to follow the orders and directions given to them. Unless you re the
Commander in Chief, then you can make the orders. This brings us back to the chaotic vision
we imagined earlier. So whether you re in a position of authority or the on the receiving end of
the given order it s very important to follow orders. It s an essential part of working as a soldier,
marine, sailor or airman in the armed forces. It s necessary around the world regardless of your
station, chain of command and type of armed service you re employed with whether its Army,
Navy, Marines, or Air force. Following orders is a big part of being in the military and the time
we spend in our home country following orders prepares us for war. However it also prepares us

Genesis And Development Of A Scientific Fact
While I was reading Genesis and Development of a Scientific Fact (GDSF) (Fleck, 1935), I
played close attention to the Foreword written by Thomas Kuhn. As a novice in reading about the
philosophy of science, the name Kuhn sounded familiar, but I was not able to remember which
situations or disciplines were Kuhn s areas of expertise. Moreover, I was sure that his name was
related to philosophy, but I did not certainly know about his contributions to the development of the
philosophy of science. Through inquiring more about the connections between Kuhn and Fleck, I
have found some research that has related these philosophers ways of thinking. This research
claims that Fleck and Kuhn have shaped the development of science as it is recognized nowadays,
and their contributions are framed into what Brorson, and Andersen (2001) have called scientific
phenomena worlds (p.109) . Some of this research compares both thoughts (e.g. Möẞner, 2011;
Stark, 2012), while other conceives Fleck as precursor of Kuhn s thought (e.g. Babich, 2003;
PГ©rez MarГn, 2010). The possible similarities between these philosophers thoughts seem to be
only superficial (MГ¶бєћner, 2011; PГ©rez MarГn, 2010; Stark, 2012). An in depth reading of
Kuhn s reflections on Fleck s influence on his Structure of the Scientific Revolution (SSR) (1970)
shows that Kuhn was certainly moved by the sociology of the sciences proposed by Fleck, but
Kuhn is also cautious to overtly say that Fleck influenced his philosophy

The Effect Of Analyzed Chemical Energy Of Sodium Chloride...
Practical Investigation: Enthalpy of Solution
Introduction
The enthalpy of a substance or solution refers to the chemical energy or heat content that is stored
within the substance. When a substance undergoes a reaction, the chemical energy in the substance
is released or more energy gets absorbed into the substance; this is known as exothermic and
endothermic reactions, respectively. Within this practical, the aim was to investigate the change in
stored chemical energy of a sodium chloride solution by measuring the temperature change that
occurs when sodium chloride is added to distilled water. The experiment was carried out by using a
calorimeter, to contain any energy that could be released in the reaction, and also a hand held
thermometer and digital thermometer to measure the change in temperature.
Aim
The aim of this practical is to investigate and compare the effectiveness of hand held thermometers
and digital probes through determining the enthalpy of sodium chloride solutions.
Hypothesis
When the sodium chloride is added into the water inside the calorimeter, an endothermic or
exothermic reaction will occur, indicating a change in enthalpy from the water to the solution. The
digital probe will most likely give a more accurate reading of the temperature change, thus giving
more accurate results.
Variables
Independent: the independent variables in this experiment were the water and the solution. The
water physically reacted with the sodium chloride to create a

Didion On Critical Thinking
Klooster: Independent thinking is one of the many key words the author uses. By Independent
thinking the author means that each person forms his or her own ideas. That however does not
mean that they cannot agree with someone else but that they have the ability to choose whether
or not they do. A passage in the text that I found interesting is when the author finally states the
fifth form of critically thinking, which is social thinking. I found this passage important
because the author is write. Critically thinking is influenced by those around us because they
challenge not only our norms but our ideas. Whether we notice if we are thinking critically or
not. The passage where the author states the fourth form of critical thinking, which is seeking
reasoned arguments. For critically thinking one has to defend a claim or point out why they
believe such claim is correct or better and by doing do they need evidence. So while we might

Summary Of The Working Poor
Michael James Ms. Phelps Pols 210 02 The Working Poor Essay The Working Poor is a story of
hard times in our lives, that can vary in times of the poor struggles, middle class struggles, and
just overall all struggles of everyday people whom have difficult times in their lives. In this
reading we found there were difficult things happening to people in this book in different
chapters and nothing really had a positive note from what the basis of the story had led us to

down people s lives simply with all aspects that are fairly difficult with money; such as income
tax as its goes into how the people cannot do their tax returns or pay their taxes, people being
scammed out their money, little to no trust in banks, and it even mentions certain tax company
in its efforts to stress the difficulties faced. Another speaks on some people life stories Ms.

these men make difficult decisions and they are not good to be honest they bring hardship to their

This suggests the the people here focuses on trade as source of income and support, as opposed

pharmacist named Caleb Bradham in his drugstore in 1893. The soft drink was made to be a
tonic to aid in digestion and as a refreshing drink that gives an energy boost. This concoction
made of pepsin and kola nuts was originally called Brad s Drink named after its inventor, but was
later changed to Pepsi Cola to be more marketable. Originally, this beverage was sold in drug

Indicate conclusions that can be drawn based on the trend: The graphs below illustrate the stock
prices of each company based on the timeline. By consulting the above graphs and charts it can
be concluded that Pepsi has been a strong competitor to Coke and that throughout history they
have been performing at comparable rates. Each has a similar background and customer base,
but there are some differences between the two companies and their individual performance
overall. It is clear that Pepsi holds a major stake in the market and is somewhat ahead of Coca
Cola in market share and productivity. Although both companies appear to be competing neck
to neck Pepsi appears to be performing at a slightly higher rate than Coke, despite the popularity
of both. Coke is wildly popular and is considered an American institution, but many seek
different tastes and this is where Pepsi has been taking some of the market share as some
consumers opt for Pepsi as their choice of beverage. Both companies represented in the graphs
shown previously are subject to the volatile market changes and increasing prices in commodities
and other raw ingredients that each company relies on for their production of their products. As
seen in the chart Pepsi is subject to the same market changes as Coke, but performance appears to
steady and less erratic in its market fluctuations. Since Pepsi is considered to be less volatile

Nell s Twin Talk
In the movie Nell lost her twin sister as at a young age, as expected when a person loses
someone they care about they experience the process of grieving. It was portrayed that they were
very close, would play on the rocks together, and even had their own language that they talked to
one other in. The grieving was ever so apparent when she would stand on the rocks and go in
circles envisioning her twinsister was with her even though she was not. As we got to know Nell
her words started making more since. The basic properties of our languageare Phonology,
morphology, syntax, and pragmatics. Nell s way of speaking was taught to her by her mom who

believed they could change her view by using Dr. Lovell to get rid of her fear. They showed her
that all men were not evildoers. This proved that she was open to change her beliefs if she was
shown how it would cause no harm. In this particular movie, nurture plays a bigger role than
nature. All that characteristics that made Nell herself were taught by her mother. She was
taught that she shouldn t go out during the day, that men were evildoers, she learned her how to
talk from her mom, and also how to take care of herself living in the woods. All of these helped
form her into the person that she was when the doctors found her. Also, in this film I believe that
a mix of both performance and mastery goals were displayed. Performance goals are defined as the
goal to demonstrate abilities to others. ( Mastery vs. Performance Goals ) Whereas mastery goals
are goals that seek to improve and learn. ( Mastery

The Evolution of Google
It all started in 1995, when Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at Stanford University. Larry was 22
years old and a University of Michigan graduate. Sergey was 21 years old at the time and was
assigned to show Larry around campus. Larry Page decided to attend Stanford University and
became close friends with Sergey Brin. In 1996, Larry and Sergey collaborates the search engine

Larry and Sergey was running it. The following year in 1997, they registered Google.com on
September 15th. Google was created by them so; it could be a mission to organize millions of

California and they opened a bank account for the established company (Google Inc., 2013).
The first office space they started in was in Susan Wojcicki s garage on Santa Margarita Ave.,
Menlo Park, California. February 1999, Larry and Sergey moved out of Susan s garage and
moved to 165 University Avenue in Palo Alto. Then, they were able to hire only eight employees
to start off their growing business. In August, they are able to open up a Mountain View location

Essay on Patriarchal Structure of An Active Male Gaze
In the early 1990s Laura Mulvey s thesis concerning the patriarchal structure of an active male
gaze has influenced feminist film critiques and Hollywood. Mulvey s project is to use
psychoanalysis to uncover the power of patriarchy in Hollywood cinema. Patriarchal influence
upon cinema is found primarily in pleasure (pleasure in looking) or as Freud s has put it,
scopophilia. Mulvey suggests that it may be possible to create a new for of cinema due to the fact
that patriarchy power to control cinematic pleasure has revealed.
Many critics have noticed that Mulvey s application of psychoanalysis and filmmaking appears in
an ironic return to Freud and Jacques Lacan. Mulvey uses the gaze to examine male pleasure in
narrative cinema, but Lacan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The male gaze puts his fantasy onto the female figure, which is styled, in a unique sort of way.
In this traditional exhibitionist, role women are continuously being looked at and their
appearance is delivered to the male gaze in such a way as a strong visual and erotic impact and
provides male desire. The presence of a woman in a normal narrative film is the key of the
movie. However, the key of the narrative film works against the development of the story line and
stops the action due to the erotic gaze. Butt Boetticher said: What counts is what the heroine
provokes, or rather what she represents. She is the one, or rather the love or fear she inspires in
the hero, or else the concern he feels for her, who makes him act the way he does. In herself the
woman has not the slightest importance .
However Molly Haskell In her development of buddy movie the homosexual eroticism of the
main male figures are able to present the story line with no interruption. Normally the woman
shown operates within two sectors, the first one is as a sexual object of the other actors and the
second one is as a sexual object for the target audience.
The psychical structure and the principles of the ruling ideology say that male figure can t carry the
weight when it comes to sexual objectification. When man gazes at his exhibitionist likes he is
hesitant. Man has the power to control the films fantasy as a spectator and then

Nevada Eye Clinic Case
Good afternoon,
I have been put in charge of reviewing the marketing material to insure that it is in line with the
direction we are heading with the re branding of Nevada Eye and Ear to Nevada Eye Physicians. I
have been reviewing multiple aspects of the process including; the time parameters, outbound
marketing materials and the progress of the website included below is an itemized list of
recommendations for everyone to consider and decide upon. In my opinion all of these
recommendations are in the best interest of the brand and the company.
1.)Mini Pocket Folder
The mini pocket folder is up for final approval, we have submitted minor revisions to the copy
which Jan has updated. You will find a PDF copy of the most recent and hopefully... Show more

The only major point that does need to be decided upon is the name, phone number and email we
will list on the Media Release as the contact. Please keep in mind that this person will be subject to
contact by anyone that reads the article.
5.)Delay the brand release date
The final item up for discussion is the date of going live with the rebrand. I have had discussion
with Jan, Michelle, and Judy as to the status of several key materials needed to facilitate a
successful launch of the new brand. The original date we had discussed was Feb. 29th, after
speaking with Jan in regards to the media release I am proposing that we change the Brand
release date to Tuesday, March 8th. Delaying the release by a 8 days would allow us to insure all
key materials have been produced and are in house. Also in speaking with Jan s contact for the
Media Release, he recommended having the release go out on a Tuesday as it is accepted better
by all parties involved. Again this is my recommendation and is up for debate among the group.
Please feel review all items above and contact me with any questions regarding the content. Please
reply all to the email with any suggestions or input on the matters at hand so all can review them.
Thank you and have a wonderful

Anastasia Czarina Facts
Anastasia, Czarina or Fake? / Leslie McGuire Greenhaven Press, Inc., 1989, 96 pages This is a
book about the mystery of Anastasia Czarina and what happened to her and her family. I am
going to talk about the different opinions of people and my overall opinion of the book. The
book tells about a girl that was found on February 17, 1920, when the police got her out of the
Landwehr Canal in Berlin. She had no identification and nothing on her, not even labels in her
clothes. She could speak German but, she could also understand Russian. She was known as
Fraulein Unbekannt, which means Miss Unknown . She had long scars all over her body and her
head was fragile to touch. Her identity was unknown, she wouldn t answer any questions
concerning her identity and no one claimed to know her. She was put in an asylum to care for her.
After two years of being in the asylum, she announced to some of the nurses she trusted, that she
was the youngest daughter of Czar Nicholas II, Anastasia. This was unbelievable because the
Royal Family had supposedly disappeared on July 16, 1918.... Show more content on

Tomashevsky, who got his information from the Soviet authorities. This account could explain her
recorded injuries. There is another account given by a mystery writer by the name of Geli Ryabov.
He thought he had the real story. He stated that the whole family was killed along with the family
pet. From there, the bodies of the Royal Family were taken to

Global Political Economy Essay
Global Political Economy In the chapter, the authors provide an overview of the key approaches

Economy approaches by focusing on their assessments of the key actors, dynamics and
prospects for conflict and coopering in IPE. In the second part, they outline the development of
the field since the 1970s by considering the careers and works of the three prominent major IPE
scholars Susan Strange, Robert Cox and Robert Keohane and the issue around which existing

chapter, the authors O Brien Robert and Marc Williams starts by giving a brief example of the

some of the key approaches such as the liberal, economic nationalist and critical approach. The

Stereotypes And Microaggressions In Disney Films
Stereotypes and Microaggressions in Disney Films It seems like the entertainment icon Walt
Disney Company has been around since the beginning of time, entertaining the public with its
lifelike and imaginative animations and characters. Nearly every parent and child that was born
in the last century has experienced a Disney animated film at some point in their lifetime, which
has left either a negative or positive impression on them. The experiences with Disney films
leaves most viewers with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside or the feeling of happiness, because the
films themselves take the viewer on a ride out of their reality into the World of imagination,
fairytales, and fantasy. On the contrary some ethnic viewers leave Disney films feeling
misrepresents, disrespected, and upset regarding the way that Disney choses to represent raceand
cultures other than Caucasian in their films. The Disney company discriminates against people of
ethnic backgrounds, does not take into consideration the cultural differences between ethnic groups
and deliberately stereotypes and homogenizes all racial groups and protagonist in their films.
Adults and children experience stereotypes in two ways, from direct experience in life and from the
media, which happens to be the largest secondary source. The article entitled The Portrayal of Older
Characters in Disney Animated Films, states that television and movies serve as an important
socializing function supplying children with images that can

  • 2. Religious Views On The Fringe Being from a small, conservative town, being called a liberal is meant insultingly. Being called atheist was synonymous with devil worshipper . Yet, for a time, I was atheist leaning and still am a liberal. Being on the fringe has often led to a series of confrontations that have shaped my political and religious views, occasionally making me as prejudiced as the people who I felt were attacking me. Thankfully, these confrontations have forced me to educate myself and have made me strong in my opinions. While my religious and political views have often been heavily related, they have evolved heavily over time as I matured and learned about the world. Originally, I was raised to be a Christian. My parents were not strict church goers, but the concept of God was certainly prevalent in my life. Being raised outside of a church community allowed me the ability to formulate my own opinions on religion. My father wanted this experience for me. He was baptized Catholic as a baby, but with age realized he did not agree with the traditions of the Catholic Church. This experience influenced him to allow me to be able to choose how I wanted to be baptized. Due to this, I settled for a Tom T. Hall Me and Jesus Have Our Own Thing Going mentality until I was a teenager. Instead I was governed by principles such as honesty, charity, respect, and loyalty. I did not attend church regularly, occasionally read the bible, and was not baptized but I did try to strengthen my moral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Louis Pasteur And Lister Pasteurization and Listerine came from the names of pioneers against germs, who improved the affects of medicine. Experimenting in the late 1800s, scientists Louis Pasteur in France, then Joseph Lister in England, made discoveries that revolutionized patient health. Their work eliminated some of the health risks patients experienced throughout medical processes. Both Louis Pasteur and Joseph Lister transformed treatment, to the process and eventually to the patient during the Industrial Revolution. Before scientific improvements introduced by Pasteur and Lister, there was a lack of cleanliness throughout the surgical process. Medical theory misunderstood the importance of a cleanliness protocol, these faults resulted in sepsis and outpatient deaths. Though the actual surgery would be a success, Ward Fever would claim lives afterwards. Louis Pasteur and Joseph Lister brought to light the effects of illness and benefits of sterilization. Louis Pasteur, a French chemist and biologist, founded the concept of temperature as a way to kill germs. He showed that microorganisms caused liquids such as milk, wine and beer to spoil. He invented a process in association with Claude Bernard in which liquids such as milk were heated to kill bacteria and moulds present and then cooled to normal temperature (Louis Pasteur Famous Inventors). The protagonist is Victor Vran a demon hunter located in the city of Zagoravia. As the demon infestation gets worse our demon hunters grow thin. Victor, while unclear of his motives, makes it clear that he needs to help the city. Unfortunately, Victor is harassed by a voice in his head that has ulterior motives. Victor Vans story is satisfying to say the least. I d consider it novel. The plot unfolds well with fantastic writing, character development, and composition. The city of Zagarovia provides us as a safe haven for trade while a world map offers us the ability to jump to and from locations. The game offered an excellent tutorial to teach the player the controls I enjoy a game that can mask the tutorial with a great story. For example, Victor Vran enters the Fallen Keep on his way to Castle Zagore and runs into what seems like a deteriorated guards training room; they use this opportunity to refine the relationship between Victor and the voice in his head. You can also see the games sense of humor parallel to the how to s . The gameplay is tightly knitted to mesh well with any play style. Issues In The Ballet World Jonina Yang Dr. Houser Research Paper Issues in the Ballet World The world of ballet is generally seen as the art of stick thin, white, high class girls dressed in pointe shoes, glamorous tutus, and tiaras, dancing with their prince in the spotlight. Considering the history of ballet, it is not surprising that it has gained this reputation. The term ballet blanc originates from the excessive use of white in many professional ballets. As glamorous as it is, ballet has been considered racist since many non white dancers do not seem to fit the body type standards created by George Balanchine. This ideal body type describes what is perceived to be the perfect ballet body. In recent years, the issues of ballet s lack of diversity and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even now, ballets are considered an art form that only the decently wealthy can ever enjoy. With all the sparkling diamonds and jewels, pointe shoes, glamorous makeup, extravagant theaters, and costumes, it is not surprising that wealth is also commonly associated with ballet. The high ticket prices serve as the main reason why very few people other than the rich are exposed to the art, thus discouraging people of a lower economic status to ever experience it. For instance, to see something as iconic as the Nutcracker, one ticket could start around $100 $150. In order to take classes, get the proper attire, buy costumes, and makeup, it could cost families quite a lot of money, even in a small local company. Bigger companies, such as the New York City Ballet have classes that start at about $100 a class, and since many professional/semi professional dancers are required to take a class every day of the week, it would be roughly $700 for a week, if that dancer only takes one class a day. This high rate for classes limits how many people are able to partake in ballet, but even if someone with a diverse background is able to pay this price, they might still be turned away from companies and productions since some companies do not accept minorities. It is not the fact that there are fewer minorities in the US that could contribute to the lack of color in ballet, in fact, it is the complete opposite. The race demographics of the US from the 1980 s to around 2010 show that there has been a 5.07% increase of people of Spanish descent, a 1.08% increase of African Americans, and a constant increase of people who are of Asian descent. Social Theories of Karl Marx and Maw Weber There are many sociological issues in the world today that can relate back to the concept theories that Karl Marx and Max Weber formed many years ago. Although there are too many for us to go further in depth on, I chose to primarily focus on Racism and Classism. With the perspectives of these theorists in mind I can explain how Racism, Classism, in conjunction with Feminism are among the largest social problems human beings face in the world today. Both theorists have different theories of the social concept Classism, however they are not that much different from one another. Karl Marx utilizes the term proletariat to refer to the working class . Marx views the members of each class as sharing their own distinctive culture. Max Weber... Marx used the concept of class consciousness to refer to a subjective awareness held by members of a class regarding their common vested interests and need for collective political action to bring about social change. According to Marx, class is qualitatively different from gender and race and cannot be considered just another system of oppression. Globally racism and sexism differs depending on the situation, but in nature produces the same issues. Racism is a major social problem in more than just one part of the world. There is not a connection between certain races and how they are treated in similar countries, there is a drift among racially divided cultures. For example, 1/4 white men who use coke are caught for it while 1/17 black men who use it are caught. The number of white to black users are the same, however the conviction rate is very different. Abstract In today s competitive world, apart from a few isolated cases (e.g. luxury goods), the selling price of a product is predefined by the market because customers are not willing to pay more than a certain amount of money for the product. Hence cost is one of the most influential factors in the outcome of a product or service. Hence over the past years different costing techniques are evolved such as operation based approach, case based, break down approach, feature based costing, Activity based costing, time driven activity based costing etc. These techniques are classified based on techniques with similar features. They are mainly classified into qualitative techniques and quantitative techniques. Qualitative costestimation techniques are based on a comparison analysis of a new product with the products that have been manufactured previously in order to identify the similarities in the new one. Whereas the quantitative techniques are based on a detailed analysis of a product design, its features, and corresponding manufacturing processes. Therefore quantitative techniques are more preferred. Time driven activity based costing is a relatively new tool based on quantitative technique. David, a professor who is reciting a poem by Byron to his class, states that the poem is about a fallen angel condemned to solitude (34). This poem in some ways foreshadows what is to become of David s life. • 22. African American Racial Relations Academic researchers as well as media commentators frequently argue that race relations in the United States have worsened considerably over the past decade. Many Americans would disagree or have different views on the previous statement being true. As the years go by, society is continuously modified and changed through innovation, discovery, and cultural awareness. The term racerelations is peculiar. It is not about racial conflict, racial domination, racism, or racial formation. Instead it has a palliative orientation: improving the way in which two or more races and their members act toward one another (Howard 2009:1852). Alone among the countries in the world, it has attempted to construct not just a state of different tribes, but a nation of them white and black, Christian and Muslim, and many others, too. Its sense of nationalism has evolved unevenly; slowly incorporating an ever growing chunk of the people within its borders, and it has made steady progress (Vance 2016). Back in 1960, over 50% of Americans said they would never vote for a black president. Ironically, forty eight years later Barack Obama became the first African American to be elected president in 2008 and four years later was re elected, in 2012. This is just one of many examples of racial progression in the United States. For instance, a 2013 Gallup poll found that, in 1958, only 4% of Americans approved of black white marriage, but now 87% of Americans approve of multiracial marriage (Newport 2013). Sociologists traditionally view multiracial marriage as a benchmark for the ultimate stage of assimilation of a particular group into society, which exemplifies racial progress in America () Affirmative action in the U.S is a set of laws or guidelines that are set in place to level the playing field and give everyone an equal opportunity to pursue employment or an education. This law was deemed necessary when it was made legal; however now there are those who disagree with the policies of affirmative action. • 25. Theme Of Symbolism In Catcher In The Rye The Catcher in the Rye: Prompt 3 In the novel, Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger uses a variety of symbols to support the thematic idea that maturation and the loss of innocence are an inescapable rite of passage for all of humanity. Three significant symbols that signify the importance of alteration and losing one s purity to become more suited to live in the real world are the ducks in the lagoon of Central Park, the Catcher in the Rye , and the carousel and the gold ring. Furthermore, these three symbols hold a significant meaning for the main protagonist, Holden Caulfield as well. Holden, the main character, encounters many moments where he doesn t know where to go or what to do next. To aid him in his decision making, Holden resides with the ducks of Central Park. These ducks are a powerful symbol that the author utilizes in his novel to describe Holden s journey toward maturity. Furthermore, Holden ponders whether the ducks are taken away and put into a zoo to be cared for when the pond freezes at Central Park or if they are abandoned to fly away and fend for themselves. Holden revisits the question of the ducks when he doesn t know if he should return to his parents or learn to live on his own. Constantly, each time the ducks appear in the story, Holden s maturity becomes augmented. For example, I stopped having a conversation with him, if he was going to get so damn touchy about it. Their integral nature in decision making produces various outlying effects like contagion and feeds into instinctual behaviors such as confidence. The neurons, which were popularized within the field of economicsby neuroscientist Marco Iacaboni, have since played a big role in discerning group dynamics. Mirror neurons themselves are a pivotal factor in bridging perception and action as they help prep responses. As discovered by four Italian scientists in Parma, Italy, mirror neurons fire as a function of perception, but it may not lead to any discernable action. Put more straightforward, mirror neurons are a set of neurons that produce a mirror like firing sequence in response to a stimulus, but they do not necessarily cause any physical motor reaction. The scientists who first proposed this phenomenon showed that neurons present in the premotor cortex of macaque monkeys showed near parallel bursts of activity between a perception and actual execution of a particular task, in this case grasping an object. Mirror neurons are unique as they are universal in the brain. They mirror actions, emotions, and even potentially sentiments. Moreover, Iacaboni even went as far to suggest they serve as the basis for complex states such as morality. In this sense mirror neurons have the potential to be major factors within group dynamics as they can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Perhaps the most famous instance of dream interpretation is where the Pharaoh tells David his dreams about seven skinny sheep eating seven fat sheep and seven skinny ears of corn eating seven fat ears of corn. David interpreted this to mean seven years of bumper crops followed by seven years of poor crops. With proper planning, this allowed the Pharaoh to protect his people from potential famine during the coming lean years. Dreams can be a means to tap into subconscious thought processes and tell us what we know that we don t even consciously realize that we know. Genesis And Development Of A Scientific Fact While I was reading Genesis and Development of a Scientific Fact (GDSF) (Fleck, 1935), I played close attention to the Foreword written by Thomas Kuhn. As a novice in reading about the philosophy of science, the name Kuhn sounded familiar, but I was not able to remember which situations or disciplines were Kuhn s areas of expertise. Moreover, I was sure that his name was related to philosophy, but I did not certainly know about his contributions to the development of the philosophy of science. Through inquiring more about the connections between Kuhn and Fleck, I have found some research that has related these philosophers ways of thinking. This research claims that Fleck and Kuhn have shaped the development of science as it is recognized nowadays, and their contributions are framed into what Brorson, and Andersen (2001) have called scientific phenomena worlds (p.109) . Some of this research compares both thoughts (e.g. MГ¶бєћner, 2011; Stark, 2012), while other conceives Fleck as precursor of Kuhn s thought (e.g. Babich, 2003; PГ©rez MarГn, 2010). Practical Investigation: Enthalpy of Solution Introduction The enthalpy of a substance or solution refers to the chemical energy or heat content that is stored within the substance. When a substance undergoes a reaction, the chemical energy in the substance is released or more energy gets absorbed into the substance; this is known as exothermic and endothermic reactions, respectively. Within this practical, the aim was to investigate the change in stored chemical energy of a sodium chloride solution by measuring the temperature change that occurs when sodium chloride is added to distilled water. The experiment was carried out by using a calorimeter, to contain any energy that could be released in the reaction, and also a hand held thermometer and digital thermometer to measure the change in temperature. Aim The aim of this practical is to investigate and compare the effectiveness of hand held thermometers and digital probes through determining the enthalpy of sodium chloride solutions. Hypothesis When the sodium chloride is added into the water inside the calorimeter, an endothermic or exothermic reaction will occur, indicating a change in enthalpy from the water to the solution. The digital probe will most likely give a more accurate reading of the temperature change, thus giving more accurate results. Variables Independent: the independent variables in this experiment were the water and the solution. The water physically reacted with the sodium chloride to create a ... The soft drink was made to be a tonic to aid in digestion and as a refreshing drink that gives an energy boost. This concoction made of pepsin and kola nuts was originally called Brad s Drink named after its inventor, but was later changed to Pepsi Cola to be more marketable. Originally, this beverage was sold in drug stores and at soda fountains, but was later sold in bottled form to facilitate mass distribution. Indicate conclusions that can be drawn based on the trend: The graphs below illustrate the stock prices of each company based on the timeline. By consulting the above graphs and charts it can be concluded that Pepsi has been a strong competitor to Coke and that throughout history they have been performing at comparable rates. Each has a similar background and customer base, but there are some differences between the two companies and their individual performance overall. It is clear that Pepsi holds a major stake in the market and is somewhat ahead of Coca Cola in market share and productivity. Although both companies appear to be competing neck to neck Pepsi appears to be performing at a slightly higher rate than Coke, despite the popularity of both. Coke is wildly popular and is considered an American institution, but many seek different tastes and this is where Pepsi has been taking some of the market share as some consumers opt for Pepsi as their choice of beverage. Both companies represented in the graphs shown previously are subject to the volatile market changes and increasing prices in commodities and other raw ingredients that each company relies on for their production of their products. As seen in the chart Pepsi is subject to the same market changes as Coke, but performance appears to steady and less erratic in its market fluctuations. Since Pepsi is considered to be less volatile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was portrayed that they were very close, would play on the rocks together, and even had their own language that they talked to one other in. The grieving was ever so apparent when she would stand on the rocks and go in circles envisioning her twinsister was with her even though she was not. As we got to know Nell her words started making more since. The basic properties of our languageare Phonology, morphology, syntax, and pragmatics. They showed her that all men were not evildoers. This proved that she was open to change her beliefs if she was shown how it would cause no harm. In this particular movie, nurture plays a bigger role than nature. All that characteristics that made Nell herself were taught by her mother. She was taught that she shouldn t go out during the day, that men were evildoers, she learned her how to talk from her mom, and also how to take care of herself living in the woods. All of these helped form her into the person that she was when the doctors found her. Also, in this film I believe that a mix of both performance and mastery goals were displayed. Performance goals are defined as the goal to demonstrate abilities to others. ( Mastery vs. Performance Goals ) Whereas mastery goals are goals that seek to improve and learn. ( Mastery ... Essay on Patriarchal Structure of An Active Male Gaze In the early 1990s Laura Mulvey s thesis concerning the patriarchal structure of an active male gaze has influenced feminist film critiques and Hollywood. Mulvey s project is to use psychoanalysis to uncover the power of patriarchy in Hollywood cinema. Patriarchal influence upon cinema is found primarily in pleasure (pleasure in looking) or as Freud s has put it, scopophilia. Mulvey suggests that it may be possible to create a new for of cinema due to the fact that patriarchy power to control cinematic pleasure has revealed. Many critics have noticed that Mulvey s application of psychoanalysis and filmmaking appears in an ironic return to Freud and Jacques Lacan. In this traditional exhibitionist, role women are continuously being looked at and their appearance is delivered to the male gaze in such a way as a strong visual and erotic impact and provides male desire. The presence of a woman in a normal narrative film is the key of the movie. However, the key of the narrative film works against the development of the story line and stops the action due to the erotic gaze. Butt Boetticher said: What counts is what the heroine provokes, or rather what she represents. She is the one, or rather the love or fear she inspires in the hero, or else the concern he feels for her, who makes him act the way he does. In herself the woman has not the slightest importance . However Molly Haskell In her development of buddy movie the homosexual eroticism of the main male figures are able to present the story line with no interruption. Normally the woman shown operates within two sectors, the first one is as a sexual object of the other actors and the second one is as a sexual object for the target audience. The psychical structure and the principles of the ruling ideology say that male figure can t carry the weight when it comes to sexual objectification. I have had discussion with Jan, Michelle, and Judy as to the status of several key materials needed to facilitate a successful launch of the new brand. The original date we had discussed was Feb. 29th, after speaking with Jan in regards to the media release I am proposing that we change the Brand release date to Tuesday, March 8th. Delaying the release by a 8 days would allow us to insure all key materials have been produced and are in house. Also in speaking with Jan s contact for the Media Release, he recommended having the release go out on a Tuesday as it is accepted better by all parties involved. Again this is my recommendation and is up for debate among the group. Please feel review all items above and contact me with any questions regarding the content. I am going to talk about the different opinions of people and my overall opinion of the book. The book tells about a girl that was found on February 17, 1920, when the police got her out of the Landwehr Canal in Berlin. She had no identification and nothing on her, not even labels in her clothes. She could speak German but, she could also understand Russian. She was known as Fraulein Unbekannt, which means Miss Unknown . She had long scars all over her body and her head was fragile to touch. Her identity was unknown, she wouldn t answer any questions concerning her identity and no one claimed to know her. She was put in an asylum to care for her. Stereotypes And Microaggressions In Disney Films Stereotypes and Microaggressions in Disney Films It seems like the entertainment icon Walt Disney Company has been around since the beginning of time, entertaining the public with its lifelike and imaginative animations and characters. Nearly every parent and child that was born in the last century has experienced a Disney animated film at some point in their lifetime, which has left either a negative or positive impression on them. The experiences with Disney films leaves most viewers with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside or the feeling of happiness, because the films themselves take the viewer on a ride out of their reality into the World of imagination, fairytales, and fantasy. On the contrary some ethnic viewers leave Disney films feeling misrepresents, disrespected, and upset regarding the way that Disney choses to represent raceand cultures other than Caucasian in their films. The Disney company discriminates against people of ethnic backgrounds, does not take into consideration the cultural differences between ethnic groups and deliberately stereotypes and homogenizes all racial groups and protagonist in their films. Adults and children experience stereotypes in two ways, from direct experience in life and from the media, which happens to be the largest secondary source. The article entitled The Portrayal of Older Characters in Disney Animated Films, states that television and movies serve as an important socializing function supplying children with images that can ...
