THE ROW NYC Bergdorf Goodman s Walk All Over Hudson Concrete Floors
What does a high fashion retailer like THE ROW NYC have in common with Hudson Concrete
Polishing?
On the surface, it wouldn t seem like much. One s a high end retail establishment serving distinctive
clientele with the finest in haute couture while the other provides floor consulting services. They re as
opposite as night and day...except in one aspect that may surprise you. Their similarities really all boil
down to artistic style, just in two very different mediums clothing for the former and concrete for the
latter.
The New York landmark, Bergdorf Goodman, furnishes classic and trendy clothing in their Fifth
Avenue location from the latest designs of well known fashion houses such as Prada, Gucci and Marc
Jacobs. As the retail partner of The Row, they aren t just any store. Since 1901, BG embodies modern

The People Of Israel As A Punishment
The people of Israel began to worship idols; and as a punishment God allowed them once more to pass
under the power of their enemies. The seventh oppression, which now fell upon Israel, was by far the
hardest, the longest and the most widely spread of any, for it was over all the tribes. It came from the
Philistines, a strong and warlike people who lived on the west of Israel upon the plain beside the Great
Sea. They were blasphemy towards Yahweh Dagon, which was made in the form of a fish s head on a
man s body. These people, the Philistines, sent their armies up from the plain beside the sea to the
mountains of Israel and overran all the land. They took away from the Israelites all their swords and
spears, so that they could not fight; and they robbed their land of all the crops, so that the people
suffered for want of food. And as before, the Israelites in their trouble, cried out to the Lord, and the
Lord heard their prayer. In the tribe land of Dan, which was next to the country of the Philistines, there
was living a man named Manoah. One day an angel came to his wife and said: You shall have a son,
and when he grows up he will begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines. But your son must
never drink any wine or strong drink as long as he lives. And his hair must be allowed to grow long
and must never be cut, for he shall be a Nazarite under a vow to the Lord. Keeping the promise with
Yahweh, she conceived a son named Samson. Samson was abnormally

Motivating Employees Essay
MOTIVATING YOUR EMPLOYEES
Every human being needs motivation now and then. Incentives and recognition programs can support
you in helping your employees become happier and more productive at work. As a leader, one of the
main things to think about is how to recognize an employee for a performance that has exceeded
expectations, objectives and goals. Therefore, I would like to introduce you in this paper to some ideas
that hopefully would promote this method as one of the main priorities in today s and tomorrow s
workplace.
People want to do more than work as machines; they want to be productive as well as being
recognized by others. Following the successful managers handbook, when employees have the
opportunity to work with a leader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many ways in which companies can encourage and support motivation. Some of those
techniques are: Involving employees in decision making, providing feedback, keeping employees
informed at all times, building trust and relationships, and much more.
Involving employees in decision making:
People enjoy being included in decisions or situations in life. In the workplace it is essential to hear
other people s thoughts and ideas, in order to have a better outcome. Almost everyone likes to have
their ideas heard and implemented in decision making. When managers asks an employee for advice
in any given situation, even if is not implemented, it gives you a sense of importance in that person s
life. Also, it makes you feel that your ideas matter, and that you are not just an employee, instead, you
are someone I admire enough to help me make an important decision.
Feedback and Recognition: Employees are happier when they feel that they are rewarded fairly for the
work they do. Always acknowledge employee responsibilities, and the effort they put on, and the tasks
that they have done well.
According to Sanjay Tailor in her article How To Motivate Employees, Recognition is beneficial from
time to time for the employees to hear from their supervisors how they are doing. It doesn t cost a
thing to add a personal touch. A job well done deserves a pat on the back recognition, either alone or
in front of the team or other coworkers.

Roaring 20 s Research Paper
Of all the time periods I could choose from, I would choose to be born into the roaring 20 s. The
roaring 20 s were a post world war era associated with an economic boom in the United States, and
that subsequent wealth led to a time when society changed in such a way as to correlate with the
massive changes occurring in the US. Even though this wealth couldn t last forever, as shown through
the Great Depression which began in 1929, the country itself underwent advances that forever
changed the course of its history. Teen girls began to rebel against what was considered proper society
by following new, up and coming fashion trends that showed more skin than their parents could
handle, causing a domino effect of rebellious children and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1920, after many long years of the suffragette movement, which included protests, imprisonment,
and even force feeding, women received the right to vote, the first of many times women brought
about change in order to better the lives of others. The 1920 s are simply credited as one of the most
exciting decades in our history. At the beginning of this decade, women were still wearing corsets, and
toward the end, women had changed their fashion in a way that would make their mothers shudder. I
would like to be a part of this time not only for the glitz and glamour it is often associated with, but
simply to witness all the change that occurred in this country during that short time. So many social
shifts occurred that got the ball rolling on how modern social society works. It is a decade that
transformed the American way, which was associated with hard work being necessary for survival and
the only way to achieve what you set your mind to. Considering the 1920 s are a post world war era,
America soon adopted an attitude of living in the moment and risking it all, which contributed to the
change of so many social mores. By going back to this time I can witness not only the changing of
society, but the changing of the whole world as they knew

Essay Functions of the Chorus in Shakespeare s Henry V
Functions of the Chorus in Shakespeare s Henry V In Shakespeare s Henry V, the chorus plays a
prominent role. There are few other plays written by Shakespeare that include a chorus, however in no
other play does the chorus have such an important role. The principal purpose of the chorus is that of
story telling. The chorus acts as a guide for the audience, narrating parts that wouldn t fit into the
action of the play. For example in the Act II Chorus, we are told about treason: The sum is paid, the
traitors are agreed, the king is now set from London, and the scene is now transported, gentles, to
Southampton. As we can see, the chorus reviews what has happened in previous scenes and ... Show

Appealing to a muse, a goddess patron of the arts, tells us that is going to be a really special play. The
audience react to this, getting excited as they find they are going to watch such a wonderful play. The
prologue raises our expectation of Henry, as we know previously he had been a bit of a rebel. It now
calls him the Warlike Harry ; it says he is like Mars, the god of war. Throughout the play, the audience
are reminded how great Henry is. In Act V s chorus, Henry is compared to Caesar , a great roman
emperor and by the epilogue Henry is The star of England . However, Henry also has a less attractive
side, which is occasionally portrayed in the scenes between the choruses. This may seem inconsistent.
Henry can be cunning and manipulative. When he wishes to fight the French, he says to the
Archbishop of Canterbury that he wants his blessing, because then God will be on his side. If
Canterbury agrees, then effectively anything bad that happens to Henry and his army thereafter is his
fault. May I with right of conscience make this claim? Henry asks the Archbishop of Canterbury, who
replies The sin upon my head, dread sovereign . The audience will react to this, they begin to realise
that Henry is a clever man. He can manipulate people so it

management is vital to the success of the organization. It is an ever changing part in the life of the

The Theory of Behaviorism
A significant piece of several psychological theories in the late nineteenth century was introspection,
which is the examination or observation of one s own mental and emotional processes (Press, 2013).
In retort to this theory behaviorism came about. Behaviorism is predominantly concerned with
observable and measurable aspects of human behavior. In other words behaviorism does not look at
the biological aspects but it suggests that all behaviors are learned habits and changes in response to
the environment. It endeavors to explain how these particular habits are formed. Behaviorism claimed
that the causes of behavior was not necessarily found in the complexities of the mind but could be
observed in one s immediate environment, from stimuli that produced, reinforced, and punished
certain responses also known later on as conditioning. It wasn t until the twentieth century that the
scientist began to discover the actual systems to learning, thereby laying a foundation for behaviorism.
A theorist by the name of Ivan Pavlov was a major contribution to the discovering of significant
behavioral theories.
Ivan Petrovich Pavlov was born on September 14, 1849 in the small village of Ryazan, Russia. He was
the son of Peter Dmitrievich Pavlov, who was the village s own priest. As the son of a priest, Ivan
went to church school and attended the theological seminary. The family hoped that Ivan would follow
in his father s footsteps and become a priest as well, but Ivan had other plans.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Research
Research is essential in academic study to allow a person to build on their existing knowledge. There
are numerous routes to research a subject, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. For this
essay I am going to focus on four methods; internet, text books, television and professional journals.
In modern society a common research tool used is the internet, one if its key advantages is its
accessibility. Most people have access to the internet throughout the day and night; at home, on the
move via mobile phones and tablets, education premises, workplace and public libraries, this creates
flexibility and allows people to research information at a time and place convenient to them. Another
strength is the amount of information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The content in text books is generally accurate and of good quality due to it being well researched
itself and being subject to review and quality checks by the publisher. In addition, the format of a text
book makes it easy to locate the information required and simple to book mark key points for future
use. Another strength is the details necessary for referencing the source are clearly presented. Some
disadvantages of using text books are the physical and financial barriers to accessing them. Copies
available in libraries may be limited and the time needed to visit a library could be restricted by an
individual s personal commitments. To purchase a text book can be expensive and often difficult to
source locally. In addition, written sources can become outdated, e.g. new theories and discoveries
could be made which consequently make the content inaccurate or irrelevant. Television and radio as a
research tool can be a welcome alternative to reading. The benefits being that information displayed in
a visual or audio format can in some instances be understood better than on paper, presented in an
engaging manner making it more interesting and holding the viewers attention. In addition,
radio/podcasts can be listened to whilst additional tasks are completed, e.g. driving, walking the dog.
The negative side being the narrative can be at a fast pace resulting in note taking being restricted and

Unfair Treatment during the Scottsboro Trials
In the 1930 s teenagers from across the country were leaving their homes to search for jobs due to the
extreme poverty caused by the Great Depression. Whether it was blacks or whites, they were all
affected one way or the other by the nation s economical failure. It became popular for the young men
and women to travel by freight trains to arrive to the places with better job opportunities. Around this
time blacks were still not treated fairly, even in poverty. In the Scottsboro case in Alabama two white
woman prostitutes falsely accused nine African American youths of rape on a freight train car; the
boys were convicted in every trial due to the prejudices of an all white jury, and they had an attorney
with little to no motivation to put any effort into their defense.
The boys of the Scottsboro trials were never treated fairly from the beginning. The whole journey was
filled with misconception. The journey began on the freight train, there was nine African Americans
on a train car and with them, was a group of Caucasian men. It all started with one of the white males
stepping on the hand of one of the blacks. Not too long after, the white males threatened the nine boys
to leave the train car (Doc). After the nine black males refused their threat, a fight broke out between
all of them. All of the members of the white group were thrown off the train, all, but one. The one that
was left on the train went and reported the fight to the train conductor.

Examples Of Honesty And Dishonesty
Honesty and loyalty are important parts of friendship and life in general. To take those nouns even
further you can use integrity. A very technical definition of integrity is adherence to moral and ethical
principles or the state of being whole. To me, integrity is being honest and truthful to others and to
yourself for a good cause. Integrity is a value that has to come from the heart. You cannot fake or force
honesty. School is the main place where your integrity is threatened. Sometimes you just have to look
at your friend s test or use your notebook during a quiz. You can t help it sometimes if you don t study.
No one can deny that they have cheated at least once during an exam. Cheating once or twice on a test
is usually forgivable and can virtually be repealed. Making it a habit can be threatening to your

The Health Care Is An Expensive Industry Essay
The health care is an expensive industry, however it plays a significant role in the lives of many. As
we continues to find the best way possible to decrease avoidable medical errors and techniques that
decreases fraudulent activities, together we can build an industry that is rather effective and at a lower
cost. Up coding is a burden in health care and should be a concern to everyone. It has significant
budgetary impact and affects everyone from government officials, taxpayers, insurers, and even

Physics of Electric Guitars Essay
Introduction
More than any other instrument, the electric guitar has shaped and redefined music in the last century.
Although popular culture did not pay much attention to it when it was first introduced in the 1930s, it
has since become equated with the very essence of rock and roll music. On an international level, the
electric guitar is by far the most famous instrument to come out of the United States
(howstuffworks.com).
Background
Inventors have been playing with the idea of electrically powered musical instruments since the 1800s,
but the first attempts at an amplified instrument did not come until the development of electrical
amplification by the radio industry in the 1920s.

* The vibrations of the strings can be quantified and calculated according to basic laws in physics.
These include certain relationships between velocity, wavelength, and frequency and equations that
describe the motion of a string fixed at both ends.
How Pick Ups Work:
Electric guitar pick ups work by employing principles of magnetic induction. The pick ups are
composed of small electromagnets (magnets that are wrapped with a coil of wire, thus allowing an
electric current to flow through them). Because of their close proximity to the strings, these magnets
induce a north and south pole on the strings. When the string is played, it begins to oscillate, or move
in a wave like fashion. This affects the field surrounding the pick up and causes a change in the
magnetic field. These changes, or fluctuations in the magnetic field are transmitted through the wires
connecting the pick up(s) to the output jack and are thus relayed to the amplifier where they are sent to
the speaker and converted from electrical energy once again into motion energy (sound). (Brain, n.p.)
Electromagnets can turn electrical energy into motion. Likewise the converse is true: they can turn
motion into electrical energy.
Such is the case with electric guitar pick ups.
Waves on a String:
A guitar string is an example of a string fixed at both ends which is elastic and can vibrate.

Plaza of Zaragoza
Plaza, the Logistics Park of Zaragoza

Logistics Term
The Logistics Plaza of Zaragoza is the largest logistic park in Europe. It is a ten year project that
started in 2000, which is now at the middle of its completion. There are not many articles on logistic
parks up till now because it is a very recent development. Generally, logistic activities would grow
around strategic part without any pre planning. Due to overcrowding of those areas, governments are
now trying to place logistics in more decentralized regions and are trying to create services in order to
attract customers.

They might give Plaza the option of easily taking back the initial investment, however, they would not
be a focus for FDI nor would help in promoting Zaragoza as an important logistic European center.
International companies are still doubtful of settling down in PLAZA.
They still do not see the advantage of committing to a place where none of the services offered are
already up and running. Despite the facility, the airport still has very small cargo activity. Railways are
being built, but not a single train stops at PLAZA, therefore opportunities of linking with ports are still
to be exploited. Intermodality is still at the planning stage and the direct connection to Europe through
the Pyrenees is seemed as a long term project.
The brightest view of opening a tunnel through the Pyrenees is ten years away, due to the sudden
investment necessary to both Spain and France. The pillars of PLAZA cannot be built without the
necessary infrastructure. Up till now it is not a strong strategic area and is unable to apply
Intermodality; the only benefit is the comparatively low cost of land.
However, the cheaper land is not a very attractive choice for multinational companies; this will not
draw them to the park. The achievement of the project is still at risk. Managers, backed by the
government, still have to work tough to build up strong reliability and make sure that the essential
infrastructure is put in place so that Plaza becomes the best logistic park in

Nietzsche And Buddhism
Both, Friedrich Nietzsche and the Buddha, at least at the level of conventional truth, look at the life
and the world as largely nihilistic and unsatisfying, and search for a solution to the meaninglessness of
their respective cultural situations by turning within and advocating a transformation of our inner
forces and of our outlook on the world. The major difference between Nietzsche and Buddhism,
however, lies in the role of the will in nihilism and its overcoming. For the Buddha, only by cutting
the root of the fundamental will altogether, through the self overcoming of the will to power, one can
step beyond nihilism. The radicality of both Nietzsche s negation and his affirmation of life, on the
contrary, is limited insofar as the standpoint

Solidarity And Solidarity
Love and Solidarity Solidarity means a feeling of unity between people who have the same interests,
goals, etc. ( Human Solidarity and Love , Web 22/02/2017). In a broader and more inclusive sense,
solidarity is when people consider themselves as one family irrespective of national, racial, ethnic,
economic, social and ideological differences; it is when people see themselves as brothers and sisters
keepers ( USCCB Catholic Social Teaching , Web 21/02/2017). Mechmann stresses the social nature
of the human person thus: It is an inherent characteristic of the human person to be in relation to
others; human beings are not only social in preference and desire, but it is necessary for us to live with
others (7). The notion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a bond and equality between all persons, because all are created in the image of God , and
because Jesus founded a new brotherly community (GS 32). In the same vein, solidarity has a moral
sense in that the bond unites all human persons in the basis of common dignity, fundamental equality,
and rights. It also has a sense of protection. Hence, solidarity could be used as a resistance to
insensitive government to achieve the required and honourable goal. Social and distributive justice can
be achieved through solidarity. There are then some obvious links between solidarity and practical
solutions in society. In solidarity, one cannot find rest while others find no rest. It is a matter of
commitment to the lots of others. The concrete experience is that one must be involved in the lot of
those who are affected. McKenna has a similar view with the above fact when he says, Charity in truth
builds community and brings all people together without imposing barriers (31). The principle of
solidarity helps to see the other whether a person, people, or nation not just as some kind of instrument
but also as a neighbour (64). The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops also declared that
greater attention must be given to the needs of the poor, the weak, and the vulnerable in a debate often
dominated by more powerful interests ( USCCB Catholic Social Teaching , Web 21/02/2017). The
bishops further emphasise that:

Game 4 Of The Western Conference Finals
Game 4 OT Thriller It was Saturday in Chicago, around 8 in the morning, that seemed to be moving as
fast as a turtle crawling a marathon. Shooting the breeze outside with my father, I was quietly
pondering a question. After staring into the distance, gazing at the alluring pine trees on the horizon
glistened by the scorching sun s rays, my dad broke the long silence. He said, son, why are you so
quiet? You seem to be in deep thought. Quietly I responded, You know that game 4 of the Western
Conference Finals is tonight, right? The look on his face was not promising, he seemed to know
exactly what I was going to ask. He quickly snarled, You re kidding me, I fly the entire family out to

As my family and I walked outside to get into the car, I gulped a fresh breath of outdoors, I could taste
the pine trees on my tongue causing my mouth to overflow with saliva. Exhaling I cherished how
proud I was of Evie make this big step and accepting Christ.
The drive from Chicago to Arlington Heights was almost an hour long. The whole time in the car I
couldn t keep my mind off the Chicago Blackhawks hockey game. How many times would the
opportunity arise that I would be in Chicago and the Blackhawks playing in the Stanley Cup semi
finals? There had to be a way we could find tickets for less than what my dad said they cost. An idea
hit me out of no where, I knew my uncle Larry was going to attend the Baptism, after all he is a
season ticket holder. I couldn t be selfish and just run up to him and ask if he had any extra tickets. My
entire family was going to be at the church and I wanted to be sure and enjoy the little time with them
since I no longer live in Chicago. Plus, the day wasn t about me or the game, it was all about my
cousin Evie accepting Jesus. As my family and I walked into the Church we all immediately went to
Evie and congratulated her on the big decision. After greeting with more relatives I found my seat and
waited patiently for the Baptism to begin. Out of no where I felt a presence behind me.

The Future Of Gas Prices
The Future of Gas In the not so distant future, gas prices have the potential to hit a staggering $10 a
gallon. Government policies also will limit the consumption to each family to a maximum of $250 per
month. The cars of this time period have not increased the gas mileage per vehicle to any more than a
dismal 20 miles per gallon. Families must find new ways of dealing with this situation and learn to
manage only 500 miles of driving potential for the family car per month. The Smith family, consisting
of a husband and wife with one beautiful child, proves to be whimsical and creative to manage this. In
order to overcome this epic conservation mandate, oil reserves must be replenished or alternates fuel

Mrs. Smith is a stay at home mom as they just had their first child 6 months ago.
The Smiths chose the home they purchased partly because of its close proximity to many things such
as: schools, doctors and a town that is not too far from them. The close proximity to everything
needed feels like a warm and inviting community setting; therefore, some people live in a community
because it is where they grew up. Others choose a community because it is where they found work,
such as the Smiths were able to accomplish (Jackson Sinclair, 2011).
The Smiths home location has enabled them to budget the 500 mile a month limitation for now. Urban
sprawl has enabled a multitude of families to venture further from big cities into home communities
that are less expensive; however, the distance required to most amenities can be vast. It is not unheard
of for some workers to commute greater than 50 miles per day. This would not be plausible if there
was a 500 mile limitation on driving a personal vehicle. A typical month of driving for the Smiths has
been reduced to less than 500 miles; consequently, this makes the carbon footprint they produce very
small and saves them money along the way. The data presented in figure 1 above, illustrates that they
are slightly negative for the month. This is OK, as the end of the month approaches; they

Analysis Of Luria And Rubin ( 1974 )
Introduction
Subject investigated: Gender stereotypes
Details and aim of replicated study: Luria and Rubin (1974)
Background literature: Previous studies about gender stereotypes enforced on people include; Effect of
infant s perceived gender on adolescents ratings of the infant by Degelman, Dvorak, and Homutoff
and Cowan (1983). These studies highlight feminine and masculine traits. They ask middle school
students to rate a baby on each of those traits.
Rationale: Our group decided to examine the differences in how boys and girls are described. We used
a baby, whose gender is not mentioned, as the control. We knew that specific sets of expectations
based on gender are enforced at a young age. We thought adjectives used to describe a baby could
highlight stereotypical gender roles.
Aim / Hypothesis: We believe it is more likely for the baby to be described based on appearance when
told it is a girl and when told it is a boy to be described based on their potential and whether they
looked smart . Our aim is to highlight the differences between males and females using stereotypical
gender roles.
Method
Design: 15 students were each asked the same question, could you tell us 5 words or phrases that
describe this baby? . 5 were told it was a girl, 5 were told it was a boy, and 5 weren t told a gender.
We decided to use 15 people so that we could use the non gendered descriptions from 5 of the
participants and compare them to the descriptions of boys and

How Does Rosemary I Pecola Contribute To The Alienation Of...
Those who judge character through beauty are blind. Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye determines how
the individuals are alienated from their society through physical appearances. Throughout The Bluest

This novel emphasizes the unfortunate life of protagonist Pecola Breedlove by exhibiting her class
conflict, mental state, physical attractiveness, and much more. Pecola is a subject to characteristics of
society that were responsible for classifying her as an other.
Entities within this society are prone to being ostracized by uncontrolled external factors. Black
individuals are treated poorly due to their color of skin being considered a degradation; meanwhile the
whites are worshiped as though they portray mere perfection Rosemary Villanucci. Rosemary ... Show

Pros And Cons Of Assisted Suicide In The United States
Assisted suicide is the suicide of a terminally ill patient, achieved by using a prescribed drug from a
doctor for that specific purpose. It is legal in only six states in the United States of America including:
Oregon, Montana, Washington, Colorado, Vermont, and California. Countries such as Germany,
Japan, and Switzerland have legalized assisted suicide in past years. It has been disputed for many
years and continues to be a controversial issue whether physicians should be authorized to end an
individual s life with their prescription and if this should be done legally.
Additionally, the term euthanasia does not mean the same thing as assisted suicide. Often people
confuse these processes when they differ immensely. Despite this, they remain similar in their
resulting death of a human life through the help of a physician. Euthanasia is the direct killing of a
patient by a physician by means of lethal injection and it is completely controlled by the doctor. On
the other hand, patients in assisted suicide have full control over the process that leads to their death.
For this reason, procedures of these sorts must be eliminated as medical treatments and should not be
authorized. Consequently, physician assisted suicide has been proven to lead to euthanasia in some
cases. Assisted suicide should become illegal in all fifty states of the United States of America because
it raises religious concern, endorses legalized murder, puts vulnerable people at risk of abuse, and

Strong Characterism In Ship Breaker By Paolo Bacigalupi
Killing isn t free. It takes something out of you every time you do it. You get their life; the get a piece

Strong theme, harsh tone, powerful message, good dialog, strong character development, an overall
amazing story. Paolo Bacigalupi s sci fi post apocalyptic book Ship Breaker includes everything a
book would need to attract multiple audiences, and keep readers intrigued.
Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi is set in a post apocalyptic world where the ocean levels have risen
and oil is scarce. The story focuses on a boy named Nailer. Who is on a light crew. He gets in the air

But the place where this takes place is very unique. Such a simple story arch, but with a twist of death,
savagery, and an apocalypse.
Bacigalupi creates strong character development with Nailer. He starts out the book with Nailer being
afraid of his father and is sceptical of killing and the subject of death. But once he sees Blue Eyes get
killed he realizes that killing is essential to survive in his world. In the beginning of the story one of
his light crew members, Sloth, doesn t help him out of a oil tanker. Nailer is forced to do it himself,
and is ready to die. But then he realizes that he must man up and get out of the tanker. This is where
Nailers determination, later in the story, comes from.
Whilst reading the story you will feel like it has gone by fast. This has to do with Bacigalupi s writing.
He writes in a very fast paced way, but when he needs to slow down and focus on something he will.
He also writes with a lot of figurative language which creates a picture of what is happening in the

Essay On Taking Smart Pills
I believe that students who take nonprescription medication for enhanced cognitive ability have an
unfair advantage over students who choose not to take these smart pills . Those suffering from
disorders like ADD, ADHD, or even ADT may find these drugs useful to achieve normal brain
function and should therefore take them. However, if a student consumes these substances simply to
experience enhanced cognition, memory, and focus, this is the academic equivalent of an athlete
taking steroids to boost athletic performance. I say this because nootropic chemicals prepare students
to tackle assignments under abnormally brutal conditions such as extreme levels of fatigue or several

Causing improved cognition and sharper focus, students can place higher on tests and have more
overall success when delving into tasks requiring strong memory and steady concentration. These pills
can also assist in blocking out distractions so students can stay on task for longer periods of time. By
making these drugs available to all adults, pharmacies would likely see an increase in smart pill sales.
This excess profit could potentially be applied to funding for more extensive research of these drugs.
Adults could then make more knowledgeable decisions when considering use of nootropics. Potential
drawbacks of taking smart pills include expense to the individual. Adults would have to adjust
personal spending habits to account for the cost of these pills. These drugs can become habit forming,
and tolerance builds over time. Increased tolerance means more money spent on higher dosages of the
drug to achieve the desired effect. Experimenting with smart pills can lead to dependence or even drug
addiction, as individuals discover the effects to be so desirable that they are consuming the drug
excessively. Drug abuse is also a viable outcome. Experiencing a sudden wave of fatigue following
use of stimulants is a common side effect. These unwanted crashes may occur during working hours
or during operation of motor vehicles, creating a host of potential

  • 3. The People Of Israel As A Punishment The people of Israel began to worship idols; and as a punishment God allowed them once more to pass under the power of their enemies. The seventh oppression, which now fell upon Israel, was by far the hardest, the longest and the most widely spread of any, for it was over all the tribes. It came from the Philistines, a strong and warlike people who lived on the west of Israel upon the plain beside the Great Sea. They were blasphemy towards Yahweh Dagon, which was made in the form of a fish s head on a man s body. These people, the Philistines, sent their armies up from the plain beside the sea to the mountains of Israel and overran all the land. They took away from the Israelites all their swords and spears, so that they could not fight; and they robbed their land of all the crops, so that the people suffered for want of food. And as before, the Israelites in their trouble, cried out to the Lord, and the Lord heard their prayer. In the tribe land of Dan, which was next to the country of the Philistines, there was living a man named Manoah. One day an angel came to his wife and said: You shall have a son, and when he grows up he will begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines. But your son must never drink any wine or strong drink as long as he lives. And his hair must be allowed to grow long and must never be cut, for he shall be a Nazarite under a vow to the Lord. Keeping the promise with Yahweh, she conceived a son named Samson. Samson was abnormally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Motivating Employees Essay MOTIVATING YOUR EMPLOYEES Every human being needs motivation now and then. Incentives and recognition programs can support you in helping your employees become happier and more productive at work. As a leader, one of the main things to think about is how to recognize an employee for a performance that has exceeded expectations, objectives and goals. Therefore, I would like to introduce you in this paper to some ideas that hopefully would promote this method as one of the main priorities in today s and tomorrow s workplace. People want to do more than work as machines; they want to be productive as well as being recognized by others. Following the successful managers handbook, when employees have the opportunity to work with a leader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many ways in which companies can encourage and support motivation. Some of those techniques are: Involving employees in decision making, providing feedback, keeping employees informed at all times, building trust and relationships, and much more. Involving employees in decision making: People enjoy being included in decisions or situations in life. In the workplace it is essential to hear other people s thoughts and ideas, in order to have a better outcome. Almost everyone likes to have their ideas heard and implemented in decision making. When managers asks an employee for advice in any given situation, even if is not implemented, it gives you a sense of importance in that person s life. Also, it makes you feel that your ideas matter, and that you are not just an employee, instead, you are someone I admire enough to help me make an important decision. Feedback and Recognition: Employees are happier when they feel that they are rewarded fairly for the work they do. Always acknowledge employee responsibilities, and the effort they put on, and the tasks that they have done well. According to Sanjay Tailor in her article How To Motivate Employees, Recognition is beneficial from time to time for the employees to hear from their supervisors how they are doing. It doesn t cost a thing to add a personal touch. A job well done deserves a pat on the back recognition, either alone or in front of the team or other coworkers. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The roaring 20 s were a post world war era associated with an economic boom in the United States, and that subsequent wealth led to a time when society changed in such a way as to correlate with the massive changes occurring in the US. Even though this wealth couldn t last forever, as shown through the Great Depression which began in 1929, the country itself underwent advances that forever changed the course of its history. Teen girls began to rebel against what was considered proper society by following new, up and coming fashion trends that showed more skin than their parents could handle, causing a domino effect of rebellious children and ... In 1920, after many long years of the suffragette movement, which included protests, imprisonment, and even force feeding, women received the right to vote, the first of many times women brought about change in order to better the lives of others. The 1920 s are simply credited as one of the most exciting decades in our history. At the beginning of this decade, women were still wearing corsets, and toward the end, women had changed their fashion in a way that would make their mothers shudder. I would like to be a part of this time not only for the glitz and glamour it is often associated with, but simply to witness all the change that occurred in this country during that short time. So many social shifts occurred that got the ball rolling on how modern social society works. It is a decade that transformed the American way, which was associated with hard work being necessary for survival and the only way to achieve what you set your mind to. Considering the 1920 s are a post world war era, America soon adopted an attitude of living in the moment and risking it all, which contributed to the change of so many social mores. By going back to this time I can witness not only the changing of society, but the changing of the whole world as they knew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are few other plays written by Shakespeare that include a chorus, however in no other play does the chorus have such an important role. The principal purpose of the chorus is that of story telling. The chorus acts as a guide for the audience, narrating parts that wouldn t fit into the action of the play. For example in the Act II Chorus, we are told about treason: The sum is paid, the traitors are agreed, the king is now set from London, and the scene is now transported, gentles, to Southampton. Appealing to a muse, a goddess patron of the arts, tells us that is going to be a really special play. The audience react to this, getting excited as they find they are going to watch such a wonderful play. The prologue raises our expectation of Henry, as we know previously he had been a bit of a rebel. It now calls him the Warlike Harry ; it says he is like Mars, the god of war. Throughout the play, the audience are reminded how great Henry is. In Act V s chorus, Henry is compared to Caesar , a great roman emperor and by the epilogue Henry is The star of England . However, Henry also has a less attractive side, which is occasionally portrayed in the scenes between the choruses. This may seem inconsistent. Henry can be cunning and manipulative. When he wishes to fight the French, he says to the Archbishop of Canterbury that he wants his blessing, because then God will be on his side. If Canterbury agrees, then effectively anything bad that happens to Henry and his army thereafter is his fault. May I with right of conscience make this claim? Henry asks the Archbishop of Canterbury, who replies The sin upon my head, dread sovereign . The audience will react to this, they begin to realise that Henry is a clever man. • 16. The Theory of Behaviorism A significant piece of several psychological theories in the late nineteenth century was introspection, which is the examination or observation of one s own mental and emotional processes (Press, 2013). In retort to this theory behaviorism came about. Behaviorism is predominantly concerned with observable and measurable aspects of human behavior. In other words behaviorism does not look at the biological aspects but it suggests that all behaviors are learned habits and changes in response to the environment. It endeavors to explain how these particular habits are formed. Behaviorism claimed that the causes of behavior was not necessarily found in the complexities of the mind but could be observed in one s immediate environment, from stimuli that produced, reinforced, and punished certain responses also known later on as conditioning. It wasn t until the twentieth century that the scientist began to discover the actual systems to learning, thereby laying a foundation for behaviorism. A theorist by the name of Ivan Pavlov was a major contribution to the discovering of significant behavioral theories. Ivan Petrovich Pavlov was born on September 14, 1849 in the small village of Ryazan, Russia. He was the son of Peter Dmitrievich Pavlov, who was the village s own priest. As the son of a priest, Ivan went to church school and attended the theological seminary. • 18. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Research Research is essential in academic study to allow a person to build on their existing knowledge. There are numerous routes to research a subject, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. For this essay I am going to focus on four methods; internet, text books, television and professional journals. In modern society a common research tool used is the internet, one if its key advantages is its accessibility. Most people have access to the internet throughout the day and night; at home, on the move via mobile phones and tablets, education premises, workplace and public libraries, this creates flexibility and allows people to research information at a time and place convenient to them. Another strength is the amount of information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The content in text books is generally accurate and of good quality due to it being well researched itself and being subject to review and quality checks by the publisher. In addition, the format of a text book makes it easy to locate the information required and simple to book mark key points for future use. Another strength is the details necessary for referencing the source are clearly presented. Some disadvantages of using text books are the physical and financial barriers to accessing them. Copies available in libraries may be limited and the time needed to visit a library could be restricted by an individual s personal commitments. To purchase a text book can be expensive and often difficult to source locally. In addition, written sources can become outdated, e.g. new theories and discoveries could be made which consequently make the content inaccurate or irrelevant. Television and radio as a research tool can be a welcome alternative to reading. The benefits being that information displayed in a visual or audio format can in some instances be understood better than on paper, presented in an engaging manner making it more interesting and holding the viewers attention. In addition, radio/podcasts can be listened to whilst additional tasks are completed, e.g. driving, walking the dog. • 19. Unfair Treatment during the Scottsboro Trials In the 1930 s teenagers from across the country were leaving their homes to search for jobs due to the extreme poverty caused by the Great Depression. Whether it was blacks or whites, they were all affected one way or the other by the nation s economical failure. It became popular for the young men and women to travel by freight trains to arrive to the places with better job opportunities. Around this time blacks were still not treated fairly, even in poverty. In the Scottsboro case in Alabama two white woman prostitutes falsely accused nine African American youths of rape on a freight train car; the boys were convicted in every trial due to the prejudices of an all white jury, and they had an attorney with little to no motivation to put any effort into their defense. The boys of the Scottsboro trials were never treated fairly from the beginning. The whole journey was filled with misconception. The journey began on the freight train, there was nine African Americans on a train car and with them, was a group of Caucasian men. It all started with one of the white males stepping on the hand of one of the blacks. Not too long after, the white males threatened the nine boys to leave the train car (Doc). After the nine black males refused their threat, a fight broke out between all of them. All of the members of the white group were thrown off the train, all, but one. Although popular culture did not pay much attention to it when it was first introduced in the 1930s, it has since become equated with the very essence of rock and roll music. On an international level, the electric guitar is by far the most famous instrument to come out of the United States (howstuffworks.com). These include certain relationships between velocity, wavelength, and frequency and equations that describe the motion of a string fixed at both ends. How Pick Ups Work: Electric guitar pick ups work by employing principles of magnetic induction. The pick ups are composed of small electromagnets (magnets that are wrapped with a coil of wire, thus allowing an electric current to flow through them). Because of their close proximity to the strings, these magnets induce a north and south pole on the strings. When the string is played, it begins to oscillate, or move in a wave like fashion. This affects the field surrounding the pick up and causes a change in the magnetic field. These changes, or fluctuations in the magnetic field are transmitted through the wires connecting the pick up(s) to the output jack and are thus relayed to the amplifier where they are sent to the speaker and converted from electrical energy once again into motion energy (sound). (Brain, n.p.) Electromagnets can turn electrical energy into motion. Likewise the converse is true: they can turn motion into electrical energy. Such is the case with electric guitar pick ups. Waves on a String: A guitar string is an example of a string fixed at both ends which is elastic and can vibrate.

The major difference between Nietzsche and Buddhism, however, lies in the role of the will in nihilism and its overcoming. There is a bond and equality between all persons, because all are created in the image of God , and because Jesus founded a new brotherly community (GS 32). In the same vein, solidarity has a moral sense in that the bond unites all human persons in the basis of common dignity, fundamental equality, and rights. It also has a sense of protection. Hence, solidarity could be used as a resistance to insensitive government to achieve the required and honourable goal. Social and distributive justice can be achieved through solidarity. There are then some obvious links between solidarity and practical solutions in society. In solidarity, one cannot find rest while others find no rest. It is a matter of commitment to the lots of others. The concrete experience is that one must be involved in the lot of those who are affected. McKenna has a similar view with the above fact when he says, Charity in truth builds community and brings all people together without imposing barriers (31). The principle of solidarity helps to see the other whether a person, people, or nation not just as some kind of instrument but also as a neighbour (64). These studies highlight feminine and masculine traits. They ask middle school students to rate a baby on each of those traits. Rationale: Our group decided to examine the differences in how boys and girls are described. We used a baby, whose gender is not mentioned, as the control. We knew that specific sets of expectations based on gender are enforced at a young age. We thought adjectives used to describe a baby could highlight stereotypical gender roles. Aim / Hypothesis: We believe it is more likely for the baby to be described based on appearance when told it is a girl and when told it is a boy to be described based on their potential and whether they looked smart . Our aim is to highlight the differences between males and females using stereotypical gender roles. Method Design: 15 students were each asked the same question, could you tell us 5 words or phrases that describe this baby? . 5 were told it was a girl, 5 were told it was a boy, and 5 weren t told a gender. Pros And Cons Of Assisted Suicide In The United States Assisted suicide is the suicide of a terminally ill patient, achieved by using a prescribed drug from a doctor for that specific purpose. It is legal in only six states in the United States of America including: Oregon, Montana, Washington, Colorado, Vermont, and California. Countries such as Germany, Japan, and Switzerland have legalized assisted suicide in past years. It has been disputed for many years and continues to be a controversial issue whether physicians should be authorized to end an individual s life with their prescription and if this should be done legally. Additionally, the term euthanasia does not mean the same thing as assisted suicide. Often people confuse these processes when they differ immensely. Despite this, they remain similar in their resulting death of a human life through the help of a physician. Euthanasia is the direct killing of a patient by a physician by means of lethal injection and it is completely controlled by the doctor. On the other hand, patients in assisted suicide have full control over the process that leads to their death. For this reason, procedures of these sorts must be eliminated as medical treatments and should not be authorized. Consequently, physician assisted suicide has been proven to lead to euthanasia in some cases.
