Jefferson s Expedition On The Louisiana Territory
The Louisiana Purchase
While Thomas Jefferson was president, France and Spain secretly signed a treaty which returned
ownership of the Louisiana Territory, back to France. When word reached Jefferson, the entire state of
Washington erupted, because of the fact that the United States had spent thousands of dollars, in food
goods, and shipped them into New Orleans located in the Louisiana Territory.
Jefferson urged and instructed James Monroe and Robert Livingston, to offer $10 million to
Napoleon, the French militia commander and chief of France, in an attempt to purchase New Orleans
from France. However, due to financial bankruptcy and on the verge of war with Britain, Napoleon
offered a proposition to Jefferson, offering all of the Louisiana ... Show more content on

The president and congress authorized for army officers Meriwether Lewis, Jefferson s personal
secretary, and William Clark, to head an expedition. Lewis and Clark would need a guide, someone
who knew the lands and one who could bring them home safely.
While visiting an Indian village near modern day Bismarck in North Dakota, Lewis and Clark s
expedition crossed paths with a young Indian woman named Sacajawea, Who had been kidnapped
from her home land plantation called the Shoshones, in the Western Territory. Lewis and Clark offered
Sacajawea and her husband to join their expedition as their guide, and to gain friendships with the
different Indian tribes; she saw it as an opportunity to see her people once again, and accepted.
May 14, 1804, finally the expedition, with approximately fifty companions, departed from St. Louis.
The party followed the Missouri River, through Dakota, Montana, and over the Rocky Mountains. By
December 1805, they had travelled the Colombia River and reached the Pacific Sea. Lewis and Clark
saw wonders that no other American had seen before. On their journey home Sacajawea and her
husband stayed, to live at the Shoshones

The Art Form Of Creative Photography At Disney World
Often times, photography is denied any ground as an art form, for the majority of people would
declare that photographers merely click a button. That may be the case when it comes to Dad taking a
shot of the family adorned in ghastly, matching t shirts at Disney World; however, creative
photography is a complex and personal form of art that commonly requires numerous steps and acute
attention to detail. The fine tuning of both the shutter speed and the aperture are arguably the two most
imperative steps in this process. The shutter speed adjustment is crucial if a photographer is aiming to
convey an emotion (or emotions) through his or her photography. The shutter is what generates the
click sound when snapping a photo, it essentially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The brief beat of time between releasing the forefinger from the button and the click is the time
allotted to create the frame; the photographer has the ability to govern this amount of time by
adjusting the shutter speed, the slower it is the more time that is granted and vice verse. To control
this, one must be on the manual setting of the shooting menu, once the camera is in this mode locate
the dial found at the top right of the DSLR camera, twist right to increase the speed and left to
decrease it. This determines two things: light emission and clarity. Light itself is a very large factor of
a photograph; moreover, the manipulation of light yields the potential to produce a vast variety of
moods in one simple setting. For example, with a quick shutter speed one seemingly draws all the
light from the world, twining an ominous feeling

Riverview Medical Center ( Rrmc )
OVERVIEW
In 2004, Riverview Medical Center (RRMC), originally called The Holy Name of Jesus Hospital, was
acquired and revamped by the Hospital Management Associates (HMA) and has become a state of art
facility with improved efficiencies to ensure high quality care. RRMC is a 281 licensed bed acute care
facility accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, certified for
participation in the Medicare Program, and contracted/participated in Blue Cross Plans (Richards
Slovensky, 2004). The facility is one of the primary employers in the area and provides job
opportunities to approximately 700 individuals (Richards Slovensky, 2004). RRMC encountered
significant challenges against their competitors, Mountain View, Gadsden Regional and HealthSouth.
A major challenge was the fact that they were not the sole or primary healthcare provider in the
market service area. Secondly, many of RRMC s key medical staff members and group practices were
not in a central location within the vicinity of the hospital. Thirdly, RRMC s emergency department
was in great need of renovation and they lacked in the variety of clinical programs they offered in
terms of cancer treatment, neurosurgery, psychiatry, obstetrics, rehabilitation and surgical outpatient
care.

Notes On Bloom s Connection Puzzles
Bloom s Connection Puzzles
a. The course content I would use this strategy for would be in Social Studies. However, this concept
could be applied to any area that would be taught in the eighth grade.
b. The learner will identify significant events, people, and documents in the major eras of United
States history.
c. This selected activity would work well for this content because it will allow the students to explore
different areas of a topic to help finish the puzzle. My thoughts are that this would be an ongoing
project that might take several days, weeks, or even the entire year as the students explore United
States history. My vision for this activity is to use puzzle pieces that are color coded. One specific
color for who, what, where, when, why, and how. The start of any puzzle column could be any color
and will be created by either the teacher or the student. The students and teachers will then finish the
puzzle column with as many different puzzle colors that are possible that will help to explain the
original puzzle piece. For instance, I might start with a who puzzle piece with the name Rosa Parks.
The students would then search that person to find how further information to place on connecting
color coded puzzle pieces. Another start might be a what with Stamp Act written on it. The students
would then find out further information to finish the puzzle. Each column of the puzzle pieces would
sit side by side to create a larger puzzle of our United

A Critical Phase Of Dmaic
Improve This is the critical phase of DMAIC. Here is where we conduct brainstorming sessions. By
brainstorming we will be able to identify all the possible solution/outcome. From these possible
solutions, we will be able to pick out the optimal solution. As soon as we find the probable optimal
solution to the current problem, we try to implement it. After implementation of the optimal solution,
the next step is to evaluate. After the evaluation is done we come to know whether the solution which
we have implemented is optimal or not. Our current problem that is addressed in this project is
regarding overheating and explosion of SAMSUNG smartphones. After the brainstorming was done,
several solutions were put forward in order to identify possible reasons of the battery explosion.
Following are the possible solutions: Avoid charging and using phone simultaneously One of the
major reasons identified was charging of the phone and using is simultaneously. This is one of the
common mistakes that occur in the case of most users. When users charge their phone, and uses
simultaneously then charging and discharging of battery occurs at the same time. This is harmful for
the battery and affects its life span. Avoid long Gameplay Now a days there are lots of games which
are very addictive and requires high graphics. Due to this reason lots of users tend to play game for a
longer duration of time than the usual. Long duration of gameplay (such as 2 hrs)

How The Writing Composed Within Academic Settings Can Best...
The writing composed in academic settings can best be described as demonstrate what we have
learned. Writing to review topics about learning new ideas, to present a case and illustrate to our
professors what we have learned, we can think critically and apply it.
The writing submitted to professors gives them an impression of the way our practical mind works
when confronted with a significant topic in a distinct field of study. Instructors want to see us learn to
think like someone trained within this field. Academic writing make extensive use of specialized
vocabulary and is often difficult to read if the reader is unfamiliar. The audience for this type of
reading is a reader with the same background and equivalent preparation. In ... Show more content on

This people do not want to know or monitor the growth of the writer. They want to know what to do,
and what the company is going to do next. Business writers often propose and support strategic
courses of action to their audience.
The problem is that most of the professors do not know what their graduates are doing after they leave
college, they receive some random emails and occasional visits from a few students. Hence, they
continue to teach, as if all of their students will seek graduate work. Often using this fact as a defense
of why they teach a distinct academic theory or author or method of evaluation.
This leads to a program and advising that does our students no good. Instead of guesswork what
students are doing, we need to reach out to our graduates and former students to see where they really
work. Then we should reconsider our courses and cooperate with students to better help them see all
of their true potentials. At our best, we should go further than this and help them find internships or
minors or other majors that will help find meaningful work after graduating. One of the fact is most
freshman undergraduates do not want to become academician for a living end. Even if, they did, there
would be a lot of other courses in their future beyond English composition to introduce the proficiency
of writing for academic purposes.
English composition is a general education course required to be taken by majority of students and yet
employers are not

The Fantastic Journey Of The Mathematics
Abstract: This paper is to give a brief description of the fantastic journey of the mathematics
throughout the time. It is intended to provide information through archeological about the importance
and use of counting systems by pre historic men. Also, it will illustrate how the development of early
civilizations and mathematics was closed related. Furthermore; it will shows the development as a
magical journey which involved many thousands of years.
The Origins When and where are the origins of mathematics?
The origins of mathematics accompanied the evolution of social systems in many ways. The social
development of any society requires some sort of calculation and the use of a number system. On the
same way, the arithmetic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the invention of numbers and counting systems occurred when people started to live together
and formed the first human society, mathematical scenes was the link that helped them to form
societies and to develop a type of communication system and in a way help them to establish the first
trading system which in turn, was the fundamental factor to establish a communication channel with
other societies. For example, the article titled Mathematics in pre history says that there is an
archeological evidence which describe that they have used some kind of basic mathematics as early as
30, 000 BCE, the article mentions that bone artifacts where discovered that had use for reckoning time
in sequences of numbers that agree with the number of days included in successive phases of the
moon . So, ancient math is an accepted fact, and maybe the first method of counting was just a simple
method like adding tow objects, or dividing food among all the family members. Some scholars agree
that they started counting by using their hands and fingers, others say scientist say that the early man
started counting by using sticks and stones. However, we can only speculate on the effectiveness of
these systems, but it is obvious that despite being so simple it was an effective system for them.

2. Use a blade and cut the trace piece out. Make sure you keep the outline of the lid
3. Later place the ice cream container inside of the box.
4. Surround the ice cream container with your choice of insulator.
5. Make sure you tape the insulator to the empty ice cream container well so the heat and the cool don
t escape from the container.
6. Make sure you place the insulation at the bottom of the container as well as the sides.
7. Then, take the insulation and tape it to the back of the lid. This way heat or cold will not leave the
lunchbox when you begin testing.
8. Then use tape and tape the sides to the insulation and make sure the insulation is taped well with the

of them can attain being imprisoned and even when they do battle to determine who wins Emily s
hand that is ultimately left to fate as the gods intervene when Arcite initially wins the bout. They make
no attempt, as romantic heroes, to romance the object of their affection. Furthermore, despite the
Knight s tale being a romance, its center is more on the competition between the two men as opposed
to the relationship Emily would have with one of them. Chaucer devotes two pages to their argument
on who deserves Emily more, Arcite who loves towards her is a love as to a creature or Palamon
whose love Arcite mocks as an affeccioun of hoolynesse . It is this lack of agency and the different
affections that Chaucer subverts in the Miller s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His serenades disturb Emily s sleep, his gifts are often unwanted, when he finally resorts to words he
uses lines like I moorne as dooth a lamb after the tete, which bypass any romantic feelings. Nicholas
on the other hand knows how to use his words, when he courts Alison This nicholas gan mercy for to
crye, And spak so faire, and profred him so faste,
That she hir love hym graunted atte laste,
The word faire implies that he is using the language of romances to his advantage. The reader is told
the Nicholas is a scholar and a well read one at that. It wouldn t be stretch to say that he then would
use his knowledge of romantic tradition to successfully seduce. The odd parallel mentioned before has
to do with how we map the characters. At face value we can say that Nicholas is Arcite s counterpart
and that Absolon is Palamon s but that doesn t match story wise as Nicholas is the one who wins
Alison s favor while Alcite dies and Palamon is the one who marries Emily but Absolon is farted on.
Could this an attempt by Chaucer to comment on ineffectiveness of genuine romantic sensibilities?
That only a simulacrum of romance referenced from texts is more applicable and successful.
Next is a look of motifs that Chaucer made both tales share or manipulated to further prove a point. As
I mentioned just earlier it is how both tales end that messes up character mapping and while I
proposed that this was possibly meant as some

Differences Between Britain And India
To answer the question, it is important to understand the various factors that affected control and
differences between India and Britain. Did Britain control all of India, sections of India around the
early 18th century were controlled by other european powers such as France, portugal and Spain.
France had established control over Yanam and Karakal on the east coast. Whereas portugal s
territories were limited to Goa, Daman and Diu around the mid 18th century. In addition, after these
forces were expelled from India the British empire did not have complete dominion over India. By
1857 Britain had direct control over most of India. Britain had undergone an industrial revolution
during the 1760s which allowed them to modernise more efficiently. ... Show more content on

Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
The books are to remind us what fools we are (Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451). Book Burning has been
around ever since books have. All throughout history from biblical to modern time book have been
burned. Rarely are books burned for no reason, some of the most common reasons books are burned
for religiously or politically. However is burning books good or bad for society? Whether if book
burning is good or bad depends on how you see the reason they are being burned. There are many
ways that book burning is good but many that are bad. In some ways book burning can be good. As
appointed in Ray Bradbury s novel Fahrenheit 451 many of the characters point out that books consist
of the real facts along with the truth about life that are good and bad. When somebody burns a book in
their eyes and opinion it could be a good reason while to other it can be reason that makes no logical
sense. Some reasons certain people may see it fit to burn books is because the books in their eyes are
offensive or against their views, beliefs and values. In this case of book burning the person or group of
people that are offended by this book are no longer offended and then can therefore live better socially
because they re no longer offended or embarrassed. This can range from religious books to older
books about times of inequality of two types of people or nationality. Another reason would be
because someone who is in charge of a group of people or even a country they would like to control

Open Source Philosophy
The History and Philosophy of Open Source
The open source movement was born in 1984, at the MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab when Richard M.
Stallman quit his position at the university to begin the GNU Project. Having grown tired of seeing his
colleagues being hired off by corporations and signing nondisclosure agreements for their work, he set
off to create a completely free, open operating system. Though he specialized in the field, building
such a system from the ground up is nearly impossible for a single person; thus, he began with a more
attainable goal, creating a C compiler. Though he was successful in this, he never managed to create a
kernel (the core of an operating system), aside from GNU Hurd, of which we do not speak.
Fortunately for the movement, one would later emerge with a similar philosophy. Around 1991, the
GNU Project had amassed a respectable number of software packages, including the widely used GCC
and Emacs, though it still lacked the core, a kernel. Then, more than six thousand kilometers away, a
twenty one year old Finnish university student began developing a small, open source system as a
hobby. Once the open source community became interested in it, what started as a small project
capable of little more than displaying text quickly morphed into one of the most widely distributed
pieces of software in history, containing more than twenty million lines of code, contributed to by tens
of thousands of developers across the globe, and with

Law of Unilateral Mistake
RESEARCH ESSAY Cases under the law of mistake can be divided into common, mutual and
unilateral mistake; however this discussion is based on unilateral mistake, as Stephen Graw said:
Operative unilateral mistake occurs when only one party in the contract is mistaken, the other party is
or should be aware of that mistake and yet he purports to proceed with the agreement anyway. Cases
under unilateral mistake can be divided into three categories: Firstly mistaken identity, secondly
mistake as to the terms of a contract and thirdly mistake as to the nature of a document signed. The
main focus in this discussion is mistaken identity, where one party is mistaken as to the identity of
another. Mistaken identity may happen in two different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In King s Norton Metal Co v Edridge, Merret amp; Co Ltd, it was held that there was a contract
between King s Norton and Wallis, for the simple reason that there was no such entity called Hallam
amp; Co, and hence good title passed from King s Norton to the rogue, and later to the defendant; and
thus the defendants were therefore not liable to pay back the goods or its value to King s Norton.
Therefore the effect of unilateral mistake is that it will make a contract void or voidable, and hence to
identify which one of the two parties has the right to the title of the goods. It has been said that if a
party makes a mistake as to the identity of the person he is contracting with then there is no contract,
or if there is a contract then it is void such that no property can transfer under it. The legal principle
prior to Phillips v Brooks is that depending on the facts, if the court s decision is that the contract is
void for mistake then the mistaken party still has the right to the title of the goods as it was seen in
Cundy v Lindsay, or the mistaken party will have no legal obligation to pay for the goods as it was
seen in Boulton v Jones. However, if the contract is just voidable then the good title goes to

Essay about Compare a P and Greasy Lake
John Updike s A P and T. Coraghessan Boyle s Greasy Lake have many similarities as well as
differences as coming of age stories. A P is about a nineteen year old boy working at a grocery shop
who stands up against the manager trying to defend and impress the girls he is attracted to who are not
decently dressed (Updike 18). Greasy Lake is a story of several nineteen years old youths who play a
prank on a bad character and experience what real bad characters can do. Fortunately, Sammy and the
narrator realize their deficiency – infantility – after their conflict with other people just like the
ancient Greek proverb says, Through suffering comes wisdom (qtd. in Vannatta 1637). In Sammy s

Hiding near the lake, the narrator is consternated and his true self – the good side of his character – is
stimulated: He is more shaken by guilt than by fear that Bobby s friends will hurt him. He is, in fact,
later overjoyed to hear the sound of Bobby s voice (Vannatta 1636). He, as well as readers, finds that
even though he call himself bad , deeply within his heart, he has many good personalities (traits?),
such as sympathy for other people (is sympathy a personality?). After he encounters the corpse of the
motorcyclist and experiences what Bobby s friends do with his mother s car, the narrator further more
distinguishes the difference between one s appearance and one s inner self: a truly bad character does
not have a label on his face. At the end of the story, when the young woman says that the three
[teenagers] look like ‘pretty bad characters , the narrator s reaction is hardly one of pride: ‘I thought
I was going to cry (Vannatta 1638). Finally, the narrator completes this significant step towards
maturity. He does not try to act like a bad character any more because he is not born to be bad. All he
wants is to go home and start his new life. Both stories are told in first person from the narrators point
of views which allow reader to discover the immaturity in both protagonists character through their
minds. In A P , there are many places where Updike demonstrates

But I had no idea which side I should stand on. Because I was have been told I should be an honest

Snowden is absolutely obeys the law if he unveils government misdeed in public, in this case, he
should be exempt from punishment by the American government. But my concern is whether these
leaked information gives terrorists and other enemy countries advantage because they get to know
how to avoid detection by the American government. In this case, Snowden s actions harms the
national security. However, NSA eavesdrop peoples phone calls and Internet can be justifiable under
certain circumstances. For example, the surveillance program can detect the terrorists, in consequence
prevent people from terrorism attack. In order to figure out who is wrong and who is right, I should do

dysfunctional that should be reformed. I found a book named Spying In America in the Post 9/11

Belly Fat Research Paper
The Risks of Belly Fat
The accumulation of belly fat is far more than an aesthetic issue. There are a number of health risks
that are directly associated with the accumulation of belly fat. According to the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, obesity has reached epidemic levels, with more than a third of the nation s
population qualifying as obese. To exacerbate the matter, the obesity rate among minors is at 17
percent, which is triple what it was in the 1960s. While reducing all fat is important, it is important to
understand that all fat is not created equal. There is one type of fat that is considerably more

Hidden Health Risks
According to WebMD, the fact that visceral fat originates in the orifices within the body, the absence
of a substantial amount of visible fat can give a person a false sense of security as far as their health is
concerned. What makes this even scarier is the fact that by the time a person recognizes that they have
belly fat, it will have been accumulating for some time.
Assessing the risk is actually rather simple. Even if belly fat is not visible, its presence will cause the
waist to expand. Health experts suggest that the easiest method for assessing risk is to use a tape
measure to measure the waist the larger the number the greater the risk. For women, a waist measure
of 35 inches or more is cause for concern, while a 40 inch waist for men should send up a red flag.
In addition to heart disease and insulin resistance, the existence of visceral or belly fat include a higher
risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, colorectal cancer and sleep

Antonia I ve got to tell you something. I feel the same about your papa. It saddens me to see him try to

Essay about The Gathering Text Response
Text Response Good Vs. Evil
Good vs. evil is a widely explored theme in Isobelle Carmody s novel The Gathering . It is most
evident in the battle between the Chain and the Kraken, however the more sinister, subtler acts of evil
occur when he attempts to make each member vulnerable by breaching their weaknesses. While the
physical examples such as the final battle, the murder of The Tod and the violent acts by Buddha and
his gang could certainly be classified as evil, it is my belief that the brainwashing of the students and
the fanatical powers of illusion Mr. Karle wields are more insidious, swiftly inhabiting and
manifesting in the minds of people in a way that is more powerful than any outright acts of violence.
An example of how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example of evil occurs on page 247, when Nathanial recalls his father trying to kill him
Children should be seen and not heard he said, and his big hand closed around my neck. And

Nathanial s blood. Perhaps this is why Mr. Karle struggles to convert Nathanial and attempts to
compel him to join The Gathering.
One instance pertaining to the theme of Good Vs Evil in the novel can be found on pages 224 and 225.
This part of the novel includes a battle between Nissa and a feral dog; this is a physical battle between
good and evil. This excerpt from the novel shows that the Chain do in fact fight a physical battle
against the malicious forces of darkness contained in Cheshunt.
An additional case of Good Vs Evil is found on page 257 Kill them all! Kill them all! the Kraken
shrieked May the Chain prevail long! This excerpt from the final battle in the novel demonstrates the
fact that the Chain must not only fight a physical battle against the dark forces of Cheshunt. They must
also use their unity as a weapon against the darkness
This final and convincing example of evil and brutality in the novel occurs on page 120 they held me

In evaluating Company Q for social responsibility, I have found that the company has not made a

The Pros And Cons Of Memory Problems
When people think of memory problems, their first thought is probably forgetting. However, that is
just a small portion of memory problems as a whole. For example, in a study done at Boston
University, students were shown a set of pictures of situations such as a careless student leaning back
in his chair, a man taking an orange from the bottom of the pile, and a grocery bag ripping and spilling
groceries. 68% of the students involved in the experiment claimed they remembered seeing the so
called cause picture of the bag ripping. The problem was that there was no cause photo for the spilled
groceries. When the students saw the effect and not the cause, they made an assumption. This proved
that inferences can cause us to think we remember something that never actually happened. Therefore,
memories can actually be illusions. Recent memory research has focused on why we have memory
problems such as remembering the first letter of a word but not the whole word. A ... Show more

Suggestibility is when people mix up personal memory with second hand information. According to
Schacter, leading questions and encouraging feedback can result in altered memories of events that
never took place. In fact, suggestibility can even lead to false eyewitness testimonies. For example, a
psychologist named Gary Wells from Iowa University showed a group of volunteers a video of a man
entering a store, and then told them that the man killed a security guard. When he and his colleagues
showed the volunteers some photos and asked them to identify the man, who was not in any of the
photos, he told some of them that they identified the correct man. The students who were encouraged
later stated that the encouragement caused them to be more confident in their recall of the man. The
positive feedback not only made them more confident in their memory of the man, but also caused
them to forget any uncertainty they originally had about their identification of the

Negative Effects Of The 18th Amendment Essay
In the 1920 s the 18th amendment came in to play. The intentions of the amendment were good but the
outcomes were mostly negative. It destroyed the economy and helped with the increase of illegal
activity. Although there were a lot of negatives that came from the 18th amendment there were a
couple of positives that still affect us today. In the 1920 s the 18th amendment was put in place to try
and better the economy. Many business owners supported this amendment hoping it would increase
the efficiency of workers with less accidents. They were also hoping the amendment would increase
production of other goods since they would work faster sobor. After WW1 president Woodrow Wilson
instituted a temporary wartime prohibition in order to save grain for producing food for the war.
(History.com Staff) That same year congress submitted the 18th amendment for state ratification.

would need theatres to entertain themselves since they didn t have alcohol to entertain themselves
anymore. None of this happened in fact even resteraunts lost customers because they couldn t legally
sell alcohol. The effects of prohibition on the economy overall were negative, the closing of breweries
and saloons led to the loss of thousands of jobs. Since so many jobs were lost it led to an increase of
illegal activity. Jobless people would produce and transport the illegal alcohol for a means of money.

Alternative Sources Of Energy From Fossil Fuels
Each day, advancing technology requires a stable source of fuel to produce the thousands of units of
energy being consumed by it. At present, this energy is derived from various sources with fossil fuels
being the largest by far. According to the United States Energy Information Administration, in 2014
sixty seven percent of the United State s energy was converted from fossil fuels. ( What is U.S.
Electricity Generation by Energy Source? ) Although fossil fuels are able to meet rising energy
demands, they are limited and toxic to this planet. For this reason, U.S. officials have already begun to
consider alternative sources of energy to break America s fossil fuel addiction; namely, liquid fuels
derived from various agricultural crops. However, using agriculture in this way infringes upon the
nation s food supply and the quantity of fuel produced is unable to meet rising fuel demands. Due to
this, a new, dedicated source of energy is needed. One proposed source is microalgae, a microscopic
plant life form that is neither a part of the food supply, or a detriment to the environment. In addition,
microalgae are able to produce copious amounts of liquid fuel in comparison to currently used crops.
America should invest in the production of microalgae for bio fuel to solve issues caused by modern
energy production processes. In the past, there have been significant events that have led to increased
awareness of energy production and the way it affects the planet. James A.

On the evening of October 18th, 2015 I attended the live Jazz music performance of Nilson Matta s

Center, in New York City. Nilson Matta is a Brazilian bassist, composer, and producer. Matta is
considered to be one of the greatest bass musicians in the world, and has earned great reputation for
his unique sounds (Nilson). The staff members were very welcoming, and were all dressed in black
attire. The venue had dim lighting, and each table had a lighted candle; which created a nice romantic
and intimate atmosphere. Behind the stage, there is a spectacular scene that overlooks Central Park,
and the city. At the beginning of the performance, Nilson Matta, and three other musicians walked up
on stage, and introduced themselves. The musicians were, Mauricio Zottarelli (drummist), Craig
Handy (saxophonist/flautist), Helen Sung (pianist), and of course Nilson Matta (bassist). Matta
commenced the performance with a piece called Para Ti (For You), which he dedicated to Rio de
Jainero. Matta began to play the double bass instrument. Although, it was huge in size, the timbre was
dull. Following this, the rest of the musicians played along, creating beautiful harmonies, and
Brazilian rhythms. The sounds of each instrument were clear in this piece, but the unique sound of the
saxophone played by Handy, stood out the most. Helen Sung, also played the piano with great

Betrayal In The Invisible Man
They do not want you to go too fast and will cut you down if you do. Be smart (Ellison 383). The
betrayal of Brother Jack and the Brotherhood from the Harlem community indicates the vulnerability
of change in the face of self interest. Brother Jack s warning reveals inherent contradictions in the
Brotherhood s purpose, perceived to help create advancement within the black community but
betraying them when obstacles to superior motives of power and legacy arise. For the Invisible Man
who believes himself to be a legendary leader amongst the black community, his blindness to
recognize the Brotherhood s hypocrisy results in the ultimate destruction of personal identity and
hope. Throughout his conformity to the Brotherhood s expectations, the Invisible Man slowly loses his
sense of self through decisions such as his change of name. The adoption of scientific principles for
discussions and structured events for community organization transforms the Invisible Man into a
mere cog for the organization, rendering his individuality and voice void in the grand scheme of
greater priorities. The Invisible Man is forced to confront the realities of whiteness, as his identity and
voice are perpetually controlled by systemic power structures, even as education and leadership bring
about claims for change. Both the Battle Royal and Brotherhood s betrayal demonstrate impediments
to freedom for black characters in the novel, representative that their supposed choice and free will are
valid to the extent that white boundaries of power contain.
Despite setbacks from a predetermined hierarchy, the potential for self realization and
acknowledgement helps create openings for rupture in power. Actions undertaken by characters such
as the Veteran Doctor and Brother Clifton reveal the ability of fractures in hierarchy to assert
confrontation and dissent, providing the foundation for the Invisible Man s final resolution of return
and duty to society. One of the first characters that emerges within the Invisible Man s narrative is the
crazy veteran doctor, a minor character is the novel, but provides insight into the reality of progress
for black people down South. As the doctor warns to Mr. Norton and the Invisible Man, You both

Epiphany In Raymond Carver s Cathedral
Raymond Carver s Cathedral is a short story that unfolds through the perspective of Bub. The story
begins by depicting Bub s narrow mindedness and as the story progresses it becomes clear that his
perspective shifts after an encounter with his wife s blind friend Robert. It is through this encounter
that Bub has an epiphany. It is his jealousy towards Robert and intoxication that debunk his
preconceived notations and highlight the connection between him and Robert. It is only after his
epiphany that he is drawn out of this obliviousness and gains insight. Bub s wife, his smoking, and
drinking are key elements in breaking apart his bias and as a result he is enlightened.
Bub s epiphany helps him realize how Robert mirrors his life. The first indication of this was the
jealousy he felt when his wife told him about her last day working with Robert. On her last day last
day in the office, the blind man asked if he could touch her face. She told me he touched his fingers to
every part of her face, her nose even her neck! She never forgot it (pg. 3). The narrator s jealousy was
triggered because the thought of another male touching his wife bothered him. The mere fact that it
was a she could never forget, it hit him hard. This emotional reaction shows that either the narrator
doesn t connect with his wife on an intimate level or he never cared for how his wife felt intimately
until she spoke of another male and how his touch was unforgettable.
Another factor in Bub s enlightenment was the consumption of alcohol. I was having a drink and
watching TV when I heard the car pull into the drive. I got up off the sofa with my drink and went to
the window to have a look ( 5). His constant drinking helped to slowly lowered the walls that he had
up. Before becoming intoxicated, Bub held several preconceived notions about blindness. He felt that
Robert s blindness hindered him from his daily activities such as eating, The blind man had right away
located his foods, he knew just where everything was on his plate. I watched with admiration as he
used his knife and fork on the meat (pg. 7). The narrator was astonished, he didn t expect Robert to be
able to locate the food on his plate nor did he expect him to find and

Analysis Of The Poem The American Dream
The American dream to me is a secure way of life for the future. Having a steady job, no struggles and
financial securities. Living life to the absolute fullest while being successful by doing what you love.
So my idea is supported by connecting to Sam Walton and Jay Z profiles/interviews. The interview
says no matter how hard you had it growing up, you can still conquer anything if you work hard
enough and put your mind to it. This is the same as the visual image of the homeless person in the
trunk this, tells the reader you can come from nothing and build and work towards your dreams and
goals.
My thesis is Jay Z and Sam Walton has different views on what the American Dream is. Although both
men had different backgrounds, they both become very successful entrepreneurs. The rhetorical
strategy I used to argue my point is comparing and contrasting. My first line of argument, a successful
person is someone who is an independent, leader, optimistic, goal driven, passionate patient person. A
successful person is a hard worker who is not afraid to try new things.
Therefore, what does it mean to be successful, I believe having strong communication, strong work
ethic, having will power and self reliance, integrity, faith and never giving up? For example, the
president, mom, and dad. Evidence that I have to back this up is the article in American Dream: Dead
or on Hold by Brandon King he states the American dream is that dream of a land in which life should

Yet, the women showed courage and fought back for what they believed was right. The first thing that

  • 2. Jefferson s Expedition On The Louisiana Territory The Louisiana Purchase While Thomas Jefferson was president, France and Spain secretly signed a treaty which returned ownership of the Louisiana Territory, back to France. When word reached Jefferson, the entire state of Washington erupted, because of the fact that the United States had spent thousands of dollars, in food goods, and shipped them into New Orleans located in the Louisiana Territory. Jefferson urged and instructed James Monroe and Robert Livingston, to offer $10 million to Napoleon, the French militia commander and chief of France, in an attempt to purchase New Orleans from France. The president and congress authorized for army officers Meriwether Lewis, Jefferson s personal secretary, and William Clark, to head an expedition. Lewis and Clark would need a guide, someone who knew the lands and one who could bring them home safely. While visiting an Indian village near modern day Bismarck in North Dakota, Lewis and Clark s expedition crossed paths with a young Indian woman named Sacajawea, Who had been kidnapped from her home land plantation called the Shoshones, in the Western Territory. Lewis and Clark offered Sacajawea and her husband to join their expedition as their guide, and to gain friendships with the different Indian tribes; she saw it as an opportunity to see her people once again, and accepted. May 14, 1804, finally the expedition, with approximately fifty companions, departed from St. Louis. The party followed the Missouri River, through Dakota, Montana, and over the Rocky Mountains. By December 1805, they had travelled the Colombia River and reached the Pacific Sea. Lewis and Clark saw wonders that no other American had seen before. • 3. The Art Form Of Creative Photography At Disney World Often times, photography is denied any ground as an art form, for the majority of people would declare that photographers merely click a button. That may be the case when it comes to Dad taking a shot of the family adorned in ghastly, matching t shirts at Disney World; however, creative photography is a complex and personal form of art that commonly requires numerous steps and acute attention to detail. The fine tuning of both the shutter speed and the aperture are arguably the two most imperative steps in this process. The shutter speed adjustment is crucial if a photographer is aiming to convey an emotion (or emotions) through his or her photography. The shutter is what generates the click sound when snapping a photo, it essentially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The brief beat of time between releasing the forefinger from the button and the click is the time allotted to create the frame; the photographer has the ability to govern this amount of time by adjusting the shutter speed, the slower it is the more time that is granted and vice verse. To control this, one must be on the manual setting of the shooting menu, once the camera is in this mode locate the dial found at the top right of the DSLR camera, twist right to increase the speed and left to decrease it. This determines two things: light emission and clarity. Riverview Medical Center ( Rrmc ) OVERVIEW In 2004, Riverview Medical Center (RRMC), originally called The Holy Name of Jesus Hospital, was acquired and revamped by the Hospital Management Associates (HMA) and has become a state of art facility with improved efficiencies to ensure high quality care. RRMC is a 281 licensed bed acute care facility accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, certified for participation in the Medicare Program, and contracted/participated in Blue Cross Plans (Richards Slovensky, 2004). The facility is one of the primary employers in the area and provides job opportunities to approximately 700 individuals (Richards Slovensky, 2004). RRMC encountered significant challenges against their competitors, Mountain View, Gadsden Regional and HealthSouth. A major challenge was the fact that they were not the sole or primary healthcare provider in the market service area. Secondly, many of RRMC s key medical staff members and group practices were not in a central location within the vicinity of the hospital. However, this concept could be applied to any area that would be taught in the eighth grade. b. The learner will identify significant events, people, and documents in the major eras of United States history. c. This selected activity would work well for this content because it will allow the students to explore different areas of a topic to help finish the puzzle. My thoughts are that this would be an ongoing project that might take several days, weeks, or even the entire year as the students explore United States history. My vision for this activity is to use puzzle pieces that are color coded. One specific color for who, what, where, when, why, and how. The start of any puzzle column could be any color and will be created by either the teacher or the student. The students and teachers will then finish the puzzle column with as many different puzzle colors that are possible that will help to explain the original puzzle piece. For instance, I might start with a who puzzle piece with the name Rosa Parks. The students would then search that person to find how further information to place on connecting color coded puzzle pieces. Another start might be a what with Stamp Act written on it. The students would then find out further information to finish the puzzle. Each column of the puzzle pieces would sit side by side to create a larger puzzle of our United ... Business writers often propose and support strategic courses of action to their audience. The problem is that most of the professors do not know what their graduates are doing after they leave college, they receive some random emails and occasional visits from a few students. Hence, they continue to teach, as if all of their students will seek graduate work. Often using this fact as a defense of why they teach a distinct academic theory or author or method of evaluation. This leads to a program and advising that does our students no good. Instead of guesswork what students are doing, we need to reach out to our graduates and former students to see where they really work. Then we should reconsider our courses and cooperate with students to better help them see all of their true potentials. At our best, we should go further than this and help them find internships or minors or other majors that will help find meaningful work after graduating. One of the fact is most freshman undergraduates do not want to become academician for a living end. All throughout history from biblical to modern time book have been burned. Rarely are books burned for no reason, some of the most common reasons books are burned for religiously or politically. However is burning books good or bad for society? Whether if book burning is good or bad depends on how you see the reason they are being burned. There are many ways that book burning is good but many that are bad. In some ways book burning can be good. Some reasons certain people may see it fit to burn books is because the books in their eyes are offensive or against their views, beliefs and values. • 16. Open Source Philosophy The History and Philosophy of Open Source The open source movement was born in 1984, at the MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab when Richard M. Stallman quit his position at the university to begin the GNU Project. Having grown tired of seeing his colleagues being hired off by corporations and signing nondisclosure agreements for their work, he set off to create a completely free, open operating system. Though he specialized in the field, building such a system from the ground up is nearly impossible for a single person; thus, he began with a more attainable goal, creating a C compiler. Though he was successful in this, he never managed to create a kernel (the core of an operating system), aside from GNU Hurd, of which we do not speak. Fortunately for the movement, one would later emerge with a similar philosophy. Around 1991, the GNU Project had amassed a respectable number of software packages, including the widely used GCC and Emacs, though it still lacked the core, a kernel. Then, more than six thousand kilometers away, a twenty one year old Finnish university student began developing a small, open source system as a hobby. Once the open source community became interested in it, what started as a small project capable of little more than displaying text quickly morphed into one of the most widely distributed pieces of software in history, containing more than twenty million lines of code, contributed to by tens of thousands of developers across the globe, and with ... Cases under unilateral mistake can be divided into three categories: Firstly mistaken identity, secondly mistake as to the terms of a contract and thirdly mistake as to the nature of a document signed. Therefore the effect of unilateral mistake is that it will make a contract void or voidable, and hence to identify which one of the two parties has the right to the title of the goods. It has been said that if a party makes a mistake as to the identity of the person he is contracting with then there is no contract, or if there is a contract then it is void such that no property can transfer under it. The legal principle prior to Phillips v Brooks is that depending on the facts, if the court s decision is that the contract is void for mistake then the mistaken party still has the right to the title of the goods as it was seen in Cundy v Lindsay, or the mistaken party will have no legal obligation to pay for the goods as it was seen in Boulton v Jones. He, as well as readers, finds that even though he call himself bad , deeply within his heart, he has many good personalities (traits?), such as sympathy for other people (is sympathy a personality?). After he encounters the corpse of the motorcyclist and experiences what Bobby s friends do with his mother s car, the narrator further more distinguishes the difference between one s appearance and one s inner self: a truly bad character does not have a label on his face. At the end of the story, when the young woman says that the three [teenagers] look like ‘pretty bad characters , the narrator s reaction is hardly one of pride: ‘I thought I was going to cry (Vannatta 1638). It destroyed the economy and helped with the increase of illegal activity. Although there were a lot of negatives that came from the 18th amendment there were a couple of positives that still affect us today. In the 1920 s the 18th amendment was put in place to try and better the economy. Many business owners supported this amendment hoping it would increase the efficiency of workers with less accidents. They were also hoping the amendment would increase production of other goods since they would work faster sobor. After WW1 president Woodrow Wilson instituted a temporary wartime prohibition in order to save grain for producing food for the war. (History.com Staff) That same year congress submitted the 18th amendment for state ratification. Despite early signs of success, those who wanted to get their hands on alcohol found new and creative ways to do it. Everyone expected the sales on grape juice and soft drinks to increase because of the closing of all the saloons. Even theatres expected more customers because the people who drank alcohol would need theatres to entertain themselves since they didn t have alcohol to entertain themselves anymore. None of this happened in fact even resteraunts lost customers because they couldn t legally sell alcohol. The effects of prohibition on the economy overall were negative, the closing of breweries and saloons led to the loss of thousands of jobs. Since so many jobs were lost it led to an increase of illegal activity. Jobless people would produce and transport the illegal alcohol for a means of money. (Michael ... • 30. Alternative Sources Of Energy From Fossil Fuels Each day, advancing technology requires a stable source of fuel to produce the thousands of units of energy being consumed by it. At present, this energy is derived from various sources with fossil fuels being the largest by far. According to the United States Energy Information Administration, in 2014 sixty seven percent of the United State s energy was converted from fossil fuels. ( What is U.S. Electricity Generation by Energy Source? ) Although fossil fuels are able to meet rising energy demands, they are limited and toxic to this planet. For this reason, U.S. officials have already begun to consider alternative sources of energy to break America s fossil fuel addiction; namely, liquid fuels derived from various agricultural crops. However, using agriculture in this way infringes upon the nation s food supply and the quantity of fuel produced is unable to meet rising fuel demands. Due to this, a new, dedicated source of energy is needed. One proposed source is microalgae, a microscopic plant life form that is neither a part of the food supply, or a detriment to the environment. In addition, microalgae are able to produce copious amounts of liquid fuel in comparison to currently used crops. America should invest in the production of microalgae for bio fuel to solve issues caused by modern energy production processes. In the past, there have been significant events that have led to increased awareness of energy production and the way it affects the planet. James A. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Jazz Music Performance Review Essay On the evening of October 18th, 2015 I attended the live Jazz music performance of Nilson Matta s Brazilian Voyage . The performance was held at Dizzy s Club Coca Cola, located in the Jazz Lincoln Center, in New York City. Nilson Matta is a Brazilian bassist, composer, and producer. Matta is considered to be one of the greatest bass musicians in the world, and has earned great reputation for his unique sounds (Nilson). The staff members were very welcoming, and were all dressed in black attire. The venue had dim lighting, and each table had a lighted candle; which created a nice romantic and intimate atmosphere. Behind the stage, there is a spectacular scene that overlooks Central Park, and the city. At the beginning of the performance, Nilson Matta, and three other musicians walked up on stage, and introduced themselves. The musicians were, Mauricio Zottarelli (drummist), Craig Handy (saxophonist/flautist), Helen Sung (pianist), and of course Nilson Matta (bassist). Matta commenced the performance with a piece called Para Ti (For You), which he dedicated to Rio de Jainero. Matta began to play the double bass instrument. Although, it was huge in size, the timbre was dull. Following this, the rest of the musicians played along, creating beautiful harmonies, and Brazilian rhythms. The sounds of each instrument were clear in this piece, but the unique sound of the saxophone played by Handy, stood out the most. Helen Sung, also played the piano with great intensity and passion. • 32. Betrayal In The Invisible Man They do not want you to go too fast and will cut you down if you do. Be smart (Ellison 383). The betrayal of Brother Jack and the Brotherhood from the Harlem community indicates the vulnerability of change in the face of self interest. Brother Jack s warning reveals inherent contradictions in the Brotherhood s purpose, perceived to help create advancement within the black community but betraying them when obstacles to superior motives of power and legacy arise. For the Invisible Man who believes himself to be a legendary leader amongst the black community, his blindness to recognize the Brotherhood s hypocrisy results in the ultimate destruction of personal identity and hope. Throughout his conformity to the Brotherhood s expectations, the Invisible Man slowly loses his sense of self through decisions such as his change of name. The adoption of scientific principles for discussions and structured events for community organization transforms the Invisible Man into a mere cog for the organization, rendering his individuality and voice void in the grand scheme of greater priorities. The Invisible Man is forced to confront the realities of whiteness, as his identity and voice are perpetually controlled by systemic power structures, even as education and leadership bring about claims for change. Both the Battle Royal and Brotherhood s betrayal demonstrate impediments to freedom for black characters in the novel, representative that their supposed choice and free will are valid to the extent that white boundaries of power contain. Despite setbacks from a predetermined hierarchy, the potential for self realization and acknowledgement helps create openings for rupture in power. Actions undertaken by characters such as the Veteran Doctor and Brother Clifton reveal the ability of fractures in hierarchy to assert confrontation and dissent, providing the foundation for the Invisible Man s final resolution of return and duty to society. One of the first characters that emerges within the Invisible Man s narrative is the crazy veteran doctor, a minor character is the novel, but provides insight into the reality of progress for black people down South. • 36. Epiphany In Raymond Carver s Cathedral Raymond Carver s Cathedral is a short story that unfolds through the perspective of Bub. The story begins by depicting Bub s narrow mindedness and as the story progresses it becomes clear that his perspective shifts after an encounter with his wife s blind friend Robert. It is through this encounter that Bub has an epiphany. It is his jealousy towards Robert and intoxication that debunk his preconceived notations and highlight the connection between him and Robert. It is only after his epiphany that he is drawn out of this obliviousness and gains insight. Bub s wife, his smoking, and drinking are key elements in breaking apart his bias and as a result he is enlightened. Bub s epiphany helps him realize how Robert mirrors his life. The first indication of this was the jealousy he felt when his wife told him about her last day working with Robert. On her last day last day in the office, the blind man asked if he could touch her face. She told me he touched his fingers to every part of her face, her nose even her neck! She never forgot it (pg. 3). The narrator s jealousy was triggered because the thought of another male touching his wife bothered him. The mere fact that it was a she could never forget, it hit him hard. This emotional reaction shows that either the narrator doesn t connect with his wife on an intimate level or he never cared for how his wife felt intimately until she spoke of another male and how his touch was unforgettable. Another factor in Bub s enlightenment was the consumption of alcohol. I was having a drink and watching TV when I heard the car pull into the drive. I got up off the sofa with my drink and went to the window to have a look ( 5). His constant drinking helped to slowly lowered the walls that he had up. Before becoming intoxicated, Bub held several preconceived notions about blindness. He felt that Robert s blindness hindered him from his daily activities such as eating, The blind man had right away located his foods, he knew just where everything was on his plate. I watched with admiration as he used his knife and fork on the meat (pg. 7). The narrator was astonished, he didn t expect Robert to be able to locate the food on his plate nor did he expect him to find and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Analysis Of The Poem The American Dream The American dream to me is a secure way of life for the future. Having a steady job, no struggles and financial securities. Living life to the absolute fullest while being successful by doing what you love. So my idea is supported by connecting to Sam Walton and Jay Z profiles/interviews. The interview says no matter how hard you had it growing up, you can still conquer anything if you work hard enough and put your mind to it. This is the same as the visual image of the homeless person in the trunk this, tells the reader you can come from nothing and build and work towards your dreams and goals. My thesis is Jay Z and Sam Walton has different views on what the American Dream is. Although both men had different backgrounds, they both become very successful entrepreneurs. The rhetorical strategy I used to argue my point is comparing and contrasting. My first line of argument, a successful person is someone who is an independent, leader, optimistic, goal driven, passionate patient person. A successful person is a hard worker who is not afraid to try new things. Therefore, what does it mean to be successful, I believe having strong communication, strong work ethic, having will power and self reliance, integrity, faith and never giving up? For example, the president, mom, and dad. Evidence that I have to back this up is the article in American Dream: Dead or on Hold by Brandon King he states the American dream is that dream of a land in which life should be ...
