Biography of a Homeless Man Essay
I hear them get closer and closer as the porch creaks every step to the door. My heart feels like its

turning and the door opening just as I jump out the window.
I ve been staying in that house for over a week now. It s for sale and real estate agents come by

into.

The warm sun feels nice as the heat beats off my skin as I stroll down the sidewalk. I just keep
walking thinking of what choices in life have led me to this point I m at now. My father was a
military man and growing up we switched schools every 3 months as he was stationed all over
the country. It becomes rough on a kid never having any true friends because of the constant
change, but I soon got used to it. I feel not having any childhood friends led me to join the Army
just like my father. I was in only in for a couple of years before I was sent over to Vietnam. I have
never been the same since because with my return I learned both my parents had passed away
while I was over serving our country.
I haven t adapted to society since then. I walk and write my thoughts in a red wrinkled journal I
keep in my backpack that a carry everywhere. I have come to the fact of not caring about many
things. I go to Safeway and fill my pockets full of donuts with sprinkles, which are my favorite,
and proceed to walk out not caring if someone stops me. They wont throw me in jail for donuts and
if they did it wont change anything it is just another place to add to my journal.
My day is mostly consumed with writing and pondering many questions that come into my head.
Today I m in the center of a park surrounded by trees gazing into the water of a pond just ahead.

Absolutism In The French Revolution
Introduction
Europe has always been a great creator and revolutionary continent regarding history, plenty of
revolutions and ideas developments took place there, passing through changes on territories
demands, and many kinds of governments. In the 18th century, most of the countries were still
under an absolutist government, which means the absolute king had total control of any aspect of
the population.
Notwithstanding in France, in the late eighteenth century, absolutism constituted a huge obstacle to
the full development of the French bourgeoisie. The French revolution was a reflection of the
bourgeoisie struggle for political power, such a revolution carries the French term because it
started in France, by a series of factors that will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bourgeoisie, had a better social status, however they claimed for greater political participation
and more economic freedom in their work, since everything was ruled by the absolutist government.
Due this oppressive situation in France, and the visit of French intellectuals to the English
Parliament, the Old Regime began to be criticized, and intellectuals concluded that the present
government in France was unfair, and that the population was oppressed and unhappy. The
traditional order should be overturned, in the name of freedom. A proposal for a new society was
created; the government would only be fair when guaranteeing the freedom and equality of all
before the law. Thus, the Universal Law of legal equality was developed, and still prevails to this
day: all men are created equal.
In the economy physiocracy (power of nature) was expected to occur, it should work naturally, that
is no barriers for business; the state should not meddle in the economy (with rules, monopolies, and
others). For the enlightenment intellectuals no society should be obliged to accept the tyranny. If a
government is oppressing and unsatisfactory the people have the right to fight to change it, ergo

Analysis Of Cvs Health Corporation s 2014 10 K Report
Background: According to CVS Health Corporation s 2014 10 K report, the company contains
three reportable segments: (1) Pharmacy Services, (2) Retail Pharmacy, and (3) Corporate. The
Pharmacy Services segment provides Medicare, specialty mail order pharmacy, prescription
management systems, clinical services, and disease management programs to those in need. The
Retail Pharmacy segment entails the entire CVS store itself, which contains the pharmacy,
minute clinic, and front store selling merchandise. Prescription drugs accounted for about 70%
of the company s net revenues for the past three years (U.S. SEC Form 10 K). The purpose of
this memo is to address the topics of inherent risk, control risk, and detection risk. We will do this
by addressing an accounting policy stated in the company s 10 K report. We will discuss risks
associated with the accounting policy, recognize company controls, and test those controls.
Substantive analytics and tests of details will follow. Lastly, we will discuss fraud and extended
procedures to detect fraud. To end, we will conclude by outlining the main points and emphasizing
our audit plan. Accounting Policy and Assertion Evaluation The significant accounting policy that
we ve decided to review would be CVS Health Corporation s revenue recognition policy. We are
most concerned about the company overstating sales revenue and adding fictitious sales (Louwers,
Ramsay, Sinason, Strawser, Thibodeau, 2015, pg. 272). According to the

The Women s Christian Temperance Union was also founded in Ohio. They were founded in 1874.
The Women s Christian Temperance Union had somewhat of a mission statement. Their mission
statement was, Protection of the home. For God and Home and Every Land. (WCTU) The WCTU
wanted people to sustain abstinence from alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. A white ribbon
symbolized the Women s Christian Temperance Union. The white ribbon symbolized purity. The
group also had three watch words which were Agitate, Educate, Legislate. (WCTU) Women
decided to crusade against alcohol in particular because of their lack of civil rights. Women were
excluded from political meetings, which were sometimes held in saloons. Today the WCTU is the

Was France A Success Or Economic Failure
Through the world, we see economic failure and success in all countries, and France is no different.
During the mid nineteen 40 s through the nineteen 50 s France seemed to be in an economic
distress. The Monnet Plan , named after Frenchman Jean Monnet, was a plan to have economic
growth throughout its land. The plan called to nationalize economic sectors throughout the country.
An electricity, coal, banking and transportation that fell under state control after World War II. After
the Monnet Plan, economic boom lifted France into a world power. This shifted growth and

Migrant Workers and Xenophobia
In addition, the continued increase of the migrant workers in Singapore might lead to xenophobia
in the country. According to Khan, Rola and Ruxandra migrant workers continue to suffer
economic prejudice because government employment policies operate in favor of national
workers (1). In Singapore, migrant workers make up a larger percentage of the population
thereby leading to competition over employment with the natives. As such, the possibility of
xenophobia prevailing in Singapore is high. This is because competition between natives and
foreigners over meager economic resources has always led to xenophobia in many other
countries. For example, xenophobia has been a problem in South Africa because the residents
accuse African immigrants from the horn of Africa for stealing their jobs (Slier, para. 3). The
xenophobia problems come from unemployed South Africans. Nonetheless, most of the
immigrants struggle to earn a living in the same way the natives do but the natives view them as
competitors. For instance, most successful immigrant groups are Somalis. The reason for the
success of the Somalis is their entrepreneurial skills as well as their strong intra ethnic ties that
resemble those of the Indians. Each slum has an isolated Somali neighborhood where most Somali
refugees live and work (Abdi, para. 7). Nonetheless, most Somali refugees and immigrants face
insecurity from the local vigilante groups and gangs because they view them as aliens. However,
there has been

Columbus And Hook s Illusion Of Power
Columbus and Hook had a tyrannical illusion of power as well. Most notably Columbus upon
landing on islands in the Caribbean, he named each for instance, San Salvador, Santa Maria and,
Fernandina were all islands Christopher Columbus named although they already had names and
didn t belong to him nor the Spanish monarchy. These actions proved themselves dangerous to
the Natives a few years after Columbus arrival, as they were forced into slavery, Those left
behind were forced to search for gold in mines and work on plantations... (History.com). Slavery
and other mistreatments being allowed in the islands by Columbus is yet another example of
illusion of power, he holds no real authority but is running the islands as if they re his. Similarly,...

Hook demands respect from shipmates although he continually disrespects the crew throughout
Peter Pan as well as Hook. Both men use their illusion of power to strike fear into the people
around them, for example Captain Hook s shipmates are afraid of him so they blindly follow
him without contradicting his statements. In particular, Mr. Smee who plays the role of Hook s
assistant, is always nervous when Hook calls for Smee s attention. Correspondingly, Bartolome
de las Casas wrote in The devastation of the Indies: Hispaniola on page 42, ... [ Indians]
concealed their wives and children and still others fled to the mountains to avoid the terrible
transactions... , this alludes to the terrible horror that was struck deep into the hearts of all Natives
on the Islands with Spanish soldiers. The illusion of power these men possessed lead them to be
rude to their shipmates and others as a sign of superiority. Captain Hook is especially rude to his
shipmates who he would occasionally shoot or injure in both, Peter Pan and Hook. Christopher
Columbus however, is rude and mistreats those who he believes are below him; the

What Are Richard Feyman s Major Accomplishments
Tyler Swanbeck

Physics
Mr. Jennings
Richard Feynman Richard Feynman is heralded as one of the greatest physicists of all time. This
is mainly because of his achievements in the fields of quantum electrodynamics, and other works
while being a theoretical physicist. Feynman was also able to be recognized as one of the leading
figures in the U.S. atomic bomb program, and received many awards during his lifetime; most
famously the Nobel Prize in 1965.
One of Richard Feynman s most notable achievements was his achievements in remaking modern
day quantum electrodynamics. Quantum electrodynamics is the theory of interaction between light
and matter. Feynman did this by fixing previous mistake that he found in the overall understanding
of the entire theory. The outcome of his work helped other understand such a complex theory
through Feynman diagrams. These diagrams ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was able to contribute to the project with the vast knowledge that he had gained through his life
works. He was able to contribute by determining critical masses involved with creating the bombs.
He also was able to invent the Bethe Feynman formula that allowed scientists/physicists to calculate
implosion efficiency. Also, he was able to calculate neutron equations that provided the needed
knowledge to create nuclear reactors.
Feynman was also able to become a world renowned teacher. He first started his career at Cornell as
a physics professor. Later, he then became a professor at Caltech, and his lectures were widely
listened to because of his achievements in the field of physics. Feynman recieved another
achievement in the field of physics called the Oested Medal, but it was now in the field of
teaching. This proved that Feynman was one of, if not, the greatest physicists of all time because
he was able to achieve great feats in both the world of physics as a physicist and as a

The Franchise Of A Franchise Essay
Franchises are across the world these days place like McDonalds,7eleven and Burger king have
been around for a while and will continue until the day the world dies. A franchise is a business
relationship in which a franchisor grants a license to another business a franchisee. To become a
Franchise is not an overnight task. Capital needs to be raised to purchase the franchise most
franchises can be up to one million dollars or more. After raising capital, a franchise can be
purchased, but there are rules and regulations that must be followed. Franchisees have duties and
responsibilities they have to account for. Then the franchise agreement that needs to be
followed to the letter. After buying the franchise the Franchisee have duties and responsibilities
have the rights to Operate the franchise as an owner. Also the franchisee must follow a set of
rules that is given by the franchisor. The franchisee must use trademarks or trade dress of the
franchise. For example, McDonald s has a huge M, the golden arches, on their stores and that is
the trade mark that has to be used and cannot be changed from the franchisees or it will be a
breach of contract that could lead to a huge law suit which is not a good thing. The franchise has
option to determine when the contract could end. There is a fixed period of time and they even
have the option for renewal to keep the franchise growing. Next, The franchisor may provide a

industry that changed the way athletes dress forever. Back in his playing days, Plank hated having
to change his sweat soaked cotton T shirts over and over again during two a days. Knowing that
there simply had to be something better; he set out to create a solution (Under Armour, 2016). The

In a TQM effort, all members of an organization participate in improving processes, products,
services, and the culture in which they work (ASQ, 2016). TQM can be used based off eight (8)
key elements that most if not all companies use. The key elements are customer focused, total
employee involvement, process centered, integrated system, strategic and systematic approach, fact
based decision making and lastly communication. The first element of TQM is the most important
element, which is the customer. According to ASQ the element of customer focused is so that the
customer ultimately determines the level of quality. No matter what an organization does to foster
quality improvement training employees, integrating quality into the design process, upgrading
computers or software, or buying new measuring tools the customer determines whether the efforts
were worthwhile (ASQ, 2016). This element alone allows the company to use the customer at
maximum potential. In order to have what the consumer may need or what you must ask

Why Do Leaders Lose Credibility
Five Reasons Leaders Lose Credibility
An ideal leader is persuasive, charismatic and righteous. No one would follow someone who is
not credible or fit enough for a leader s job. Persuasion is central to leadership. The message, the
messenger, along with the route of transmission matters. A plausible messenger is more likely to
get the confidence of the people who follow.
Communication and Other Factors
Communication is another big factor in leadership. A good leader is the one who is able to connect
with his people. Communication skills are not about good grammar or high command over a
language. A good communication requires the message to receive the other end in the same exact
pattern.
To have a command over your credibility, as a leader, you must be able to reason out with
yourself. Reasoning out with yourself will increase your credibility. If you can t believe what you
say, you can t expect others to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Switching fields: We tend to switch our work, whenever we find more lucrative opportunities.
But, as a leader, you can t keep swapping positions. Loyalty to a field increases credibility. If you
keep jumping from one area to another, you tend to lose the expertise factor. Expertise increases
trust amongst people who follow you. Once your followers lose that trust, you lose your credibility.
2.Dishonesty towards your Organization: This is the worst a leader could do with their job.
Double dealing and deceitful behavior towards your fellow employees is destructive. It will
always make you lose your credibility. It is an act of self sabotage. Being unfaithful to your
organization and lying to your team will break their trust. Honesty is always the best policy
everywhere.
3.Depriving your Organization of important information: You can t be a controller and a leader at
the same time. Leading is not synonymous to controlling. If you withhold important clues from
your employees, you will lose your

Situational Influences on Purchasing Behavior
Abstract
There was an investigation in an attempt to understand what situational influences affect
purchasing behaviors of consumers. Fifty subjects were asked to complete a survey in
determining what attributes affect the decision to purchase a product. The effect of purchase was
based on three different times of day: morning, afternoon, and evening. The effect of purchase was
also based on whether subjects preferred caffeinated or non caffeinated soda depending on the
time of day. The subjects were asked to rate their preferences on a 5 point rating scale, one being...

We will also determine taste preference for that particular soda during a particular time of day.
To summarize the main objectives of the present study, we will investigate an answer to the
question of what impact situational influences on decision making have towards the purchase of
a product. We will assess three different time periods; morning, afternoon, and evening based on
the decision to drink a caffeinated or a non caffeinated soda. In order to achieve results, we
decided to develop a survey in which subjects were asked to complete a questionnaire based on
their preference for the type of soda one drinks during a particular time of day to see if there are
variations in taste attributes depending on the time of day the purchasing is taking place. We expect
individuals to purchase more caffeinated products during the morning and the afternoon. , Whereas
we expect them to purchase more non caffeinated products.
Method
Participants
Forty nine subjects volunteered to participate in a survey designed to measure people s preferences
for caffeine, diet, cola, non cola flavored, or clear cola in three different usage situations; the
morning, the afternoon, and at night. The subjects were asked to participate by the three members
of the research group. The subjects were not discriminated based on

Security Dilemm Spiral Model
Security Dilemma (spiral model)
What is a security dilemma ? Does it cause wars? Is the security dilemma confined to international
politics?
Introduction
National security is arguably the primary objective of political leaders and yet conflict and war
seems an inevitable aspect of international politics and thus a dominant theme in IR scholarship.
The security dilemma or so called spiral model is frequently used to explain the escalation of
conflict and onset of war in international politics, particularly paralleling the sequence of events
that prompted World War I and the super power arms race during the Cold War
. The question
remains, however, as a theoretical model, does the security dilemma trigger war? Perhaps a more
salient question given the rise in ethnic conflicts and security threats from non state actors since the
Cold War is can the security dilemma literature provide policy relevant guidance of how to deal
with these sub state threats to regional and perhaps international stability?
This response proceeds as follows: First, I define the term security dilemma as well as contextualize
its development within the IR scholarship. Second, I argue, the security dilemma concept coupled
with neorealist theoretical assumptions may indeed perpetuate a hostile international environment,
creating a self fulfilling prophecy effect. Instead, I suggest, the constructivist framework offers
much needed intersubjective understandings and ideational alternatives

The article entitled Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Technology; Sales Demand, Manufacturing
and Market Interface (Sharma, 2013) begins by pointing out the importance of businesses being
sensitive to customer demand across a variety of markets around the world in order to maintain
competitiveness. The responses of increasing capacity or simplifying production are not proving as
useful as the strategy of improving the integration of sales demand, manufacturing, and marketing
(SDM M), thus making the company more intimately and rapidly responsive to demand. This
increased integration involves certain basic questions, such as what process to use to integrate and
how to do so. Large companies use ERP technology to achieve SDM M... Show more content on

In spite of these gaps in the research, there is still evidence of the positive effect of the SDM M
interface and the speed and quality of information to overcome uncertainties about demand,
unpredictable competitors, the timing and novelty of new products, and other relevant questions.
Research recommends that dedicated employee positions exist that integrate the three areas, such as
a sales and distribution specialist who is expected to provide the materials departments with
updates. Companies have been spending large amounts of money on systems that integrate SDM
M, making it possible to survey the success of an IT based strategy to address this challenge. By its
nature, ERP is a well integrated, cross functional system which lends itself to the types of functions
required for integration of the three business functions, demand, manufacturing, and marketing.
(Sharma, 2013). There are two basic types of ERP research, implementation oriented and
performance oriented. The first type studies what factors foster success in implementing ERP, while
the second investigates factors in ERP that affect performance. Research has shown that companies
that use ERP outperform those that do not in functional efficiency, productivity, stock market, and
financial metrics. Interestingly, ERP is found to have a neutral or negative effect on customer
satisfaction and operating expenses. More predictably, general performance dips

Film Techniques In The Film War Of The Worlds
How does the director Steven Spielberg, use film techniques to convey one or more themes in his
film, War of the Worlds?
Steven Spielberg utilizes many techniques, in his film, War of the Worlds, including camera work,
actors and sound effects to convey various themes such as family relationships. An initial scene,
Eve of the War , establishes the relationships amongst the family especially around the central
character Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) which are built upon in Coming of the Invaders . Worst of
Man is a turning point in the story where Ray s character is developed to reveal the love for his

Worst of Man is essentially a turning point in the story where the audience witnesses Ray s love
for his children. Robbie wears his cap backwards. Spielberg uses this symbolism to show Robbie
s youth and rebellion against his father. The director uses sound effects to establish the danger at
the war zone where the military is attempting to fight off the alien. After Ray hands the car over
to Robbie, he wears his cap correctly because he is given adult like responsibilities. Not only
that, but Ray trusts Robbie which shows how the theme of family relationships develops. Later
in the scene, Robbie hands the car over to Ray as they approach a mob of people showing that
he still relies on his him and this demonstrates the change in their relationship. This also is
supported because for the first time in the film Robbie calls Ray dad . When the crowd is still
attacking Robbie and his father, Ray gets attention with his gun. He asks Where is my son? and
when their car is almost lost, Ray wants the daughter not the car . Both of these examples of
dialogue in the scene and his actions shows how their relationship is changing and to what extent
he will go to save the lives of his children. In a later scene, The Fight Begins , Spielberg uses
sound effects and dialogue to show the trust and belief between Robbie and Ray. Distant sounds of

The Survival Of Man Depends On The Early Construction Of...
IntroductionThe survival of man depends on the early construction of an ultraintelligent machine
(Good, 1965). As early as the 1960s renowned scientists such as Good and Neumann theorized of
an intelligence explosion, now known as the technology singularity, resulting from intelligent
machines designing their next generation without human intervention. This idea of artificial
intelligence (AI) has grown immensely and is a common topic amongst scholars, scientists, and
theorists in the mathematic and scientific world. The key idea underlying the impending
Singularity is that the pace of change of our human created technology is accelerating and its
powers are expanding at an exponential pace. Exponential growth is deceptive. It starts out
almost imperceptibly and then explodes with unexpected fury unexpected, that is, if one does not
take care to follow its trajectory (Kurzweil, 8, 2005). Ray Kurzweil a scientist, inventor, author,
and current director of engineering at Google is the leading theorist of the Singularity. So what is
the singularity you ask? Most simply put Kurzweil defines it as, a future period during which the
pace of technological change will be so rapid, its impact so deep, that human life will be
irreversibly transformed (Kurzweil, 2005, 7). Currently we are in the early stages of the transition.
The acceleration of the paradigm shift (the rate at which we change fundamental technical
approached) as well as the exponential growth of

The Mormon Polygamy
INTRODUCTION
When one thinks about marriages or weddings in the United States, Americans may often
reminiscence on two individuals tying the knot. However, in the western United States, and in
parts of Canada, more and more people are practicing polygamy, which is the act of an individual
marrying another person(s), after one already has a spouse. Although the practice is illegal,
individuals within the Fundamental Latter Day Saints Church partake in the activity, as it is a
divine part and calling of their religion. The FLDS is a break off sect off the mainstream Mormon,
or Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Church. The Mormon Church originally practiced
polygamy, up until The Manifesto, which was issued in 1890, by Wilford Woodruff,... Show more

Holding out Help, a non profit organization based in Utah, has sought out to help people escape
polygamist communities ( Holding Out Help ). Other than that, there is not many resources or
places available for the women that are seeking justice from the harmful communities they grew
up in Short Creek. I have discovered this from my research, in addition to the lack of knowledge
individuals have about the mainstream Mormon Church, the FLDS, and polygamy. Although the
Mormon Church used to promote polygamy in the 19th century, they do not practice polygamy,
at least in this lifetime, according to Miller. They are two separate entities, and many people get
confused by this. I have seen this from my own personal experiences, when I say that I have
family from the state of Utah. Many people believe that all that there is to do in Utah is have more
than one wife. I am not certain on who needs to make sure that there is a line of difference between
the Mormon Church and the Fundamental Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but there
needs to be one if the Mormon Church wants separation from the FLDS

Conscientiousness Research Paper
The purpose of this paper is to reflect upon the result of the personality quiz we have taken and to
reflect upon how our strongest personality trait is a strength. We are also to reflect on how we can
apply this personality trait to the important areas of our lives such as school, work, etc. So, to begin
my strongest personality trait at forty points is conscientiousness. Although agreeableness had
thirty eight points and openness had thirty seven points so these three are all pretty close in
strength. But for the purpose of this essay, I am going to reflect on conscientiousness and how this
trait is a personal strength for me. I am not surprised that conscientiousness is my strongest
personality trait in the least because it represents me perfectly. I am a very emotionally controlled
person that doesn t let what is going on in my external environment frazzle me. Instead, I think
things through to find the best and most efficient solution to the problem. I am very organized and
dependable. And I am also very persistent in accomplishing both my long and short term goals.

Back when he was a human with a brain and heart he was afraid of being lonely and met this

Nevertheless, the ax ended up splitting him in half, he then, was no longer made of flesh nor

Lincoln and Andrew Johnson were out of sympathy with black suffrage, especially conferred by
the federal government. Johnson s interpretations of Lincoln s policies prevailed the Congressional
elections of 1866 in the North, which enabled the Radicals to take control of policy, remove former
Confederates from power, and enfranchise the freedmen. In 1876 the presidential vote was veer
confused and forcing the congress to make the final decision. Andrew Johnson announced plans of
the Reconstruction which was referred his stanch unionism and his firm belief of states rights.
President Johnson was an inept politician who lost all his advantages by his clumsy moves. He

Reconstruction laws. In the year of 1865 during the month of March the Freedmen Bureau was

The Second Wave Feminism
Introduction Women all over the world are marginalized in different ways. The movement to
achieve equality and human rights for is called feminism. It includes educational, personal end
cultural areas. Feminism involves political and sociological theories and philosophies with gender.
The word feminism got mass popularity from the 1970s. Maggie Humm and Rebecca walker
divided the history of feminisminto three waves. The first wave focused on the promotion of
equality in property and family law. It begins in the early twentieth century in the United
Kingdom and in the united states. The second wave feminism comes as a continuation of the first
wave to fight against the social and cultural inequalities like political inequalities. Second wave
feminism started in the early 1960s and lasted up to 1980s. It was a continuation of the feminist
movements in UK and US. It leads to the third wave feminism which retired as a response to
perceiving the failures of the second wave. The first wave was more based on the rights and the
second wave was about inequality. Whereas the feminists in the second wave saw the inequalities
of women which was linked each other. They encourage people to understand about the personal

Max Weber Sociology Of Religion
Along with Durkheim and Marx, Weber was one of the most influential thinkers in the foundation
of the field of sociology, Weber namely in establishing the subject of the sociology of religion.
Weber s mother was a devout Calvinist, while his father was involved in politics and intellectual
pursuits. In addition to his vast education in many fields, Weber was also a jurist, and a teacher at
the Universities of Berlin and Heidelberg. Max Weberfavoured a hermeneutical approach to
studying religion(McCutcheon 2007, p.188) in a method known as Verstehen. This refers to
wishing to understand the deeper significance of something, in this case religion, by studying it
from the perspective and experience of another, and the meaning they then attach to it. Since
religious beliefs affect people s behaviour, Weber believed that religions could have profound
effects on societies and their development (Connolly 1999, p.199). While Weber, like Marx, saw
religion as emerging from suffering, he had a more positive attitude towards it, seeing it as
having benefits. He saw religion as being something which gave humans meaning in life and a
way to respond to suffering (Herling 2015, p.74). An example the Christian doctrine of original
sin can serve as an explanation for evil in the world, thereby offering a solution for people to
reconcile and cope with their suffering in the world and their lives (Weber 1965, p.139). Unlike
Marx, he did not see it as being an inherently negative or

A Bugs Life Sociological Analysis
A Bugs life is a Disney Pixar animated film which involves Ants and other bugs coming together
to fight the Grasshoppers. Hopper is the dominant male grasshopper character and in the film
states that he wants to keep the ants in line and doesn t care about the food (Bugs Life 1998). In
Bug s Life the relationship between the grass hoppers and the ants can be described and discussed
in terms of the theory of class by Karl Marx (1818 1883).
Marx first stated that because of the economic growth in Europe it turned most people in to
capitalists (Sociology, 2012). Therefore Marx divided capitalism into two separate classes. One
being the class that owned the means of production for example the owners of the factories. This
class were also given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Karl Marx believed that a capitalist society was to blame for alienation of the workers
(Sociology, 2013). Alienation involves workers feeling isolated and away from the end product.
Which dehumanizes them making workers feel unsatisfied and feel as though they are unable
to improve their lifestyle. He found particular ways to which capitalism alienates those who
work. Those ways were split in to four different categories, which are: Being alienated from the
act of working which is being alienated from their own choice as they are not given a right to
decide what product to make and how they are going to make it. There is also being alienated
from the product, this can be linked to the Bugs Life as the food the ants provide for the grass
hoppers is not seen again after being taken away from them. The feeling of being alienated from
other workers, Marx stated is also a type of alienation which can also be linked with Bugs Life as
throughout the season the focus for the ants is to collect food from the grasshoppers by walking
in single file lines, therefore are not able to talk to one another. The final type of alienation
according to Marx is the feeling of being alienated from their human potential which is where one
lacks the ability to develop and gain knowledge whilst at work which helps dehumanize them as
they are not living up to their human

Theme Of Sex And Rape In Catch-22
The first part of the theme, sex and rape , is evident when Yossarian admits that, Everything

Throughout the novel Yossarian will state that he is in love (particularly with the whore, Luciana),

However, there is always a moderate position that can satisfy both extreme ends. As our title

as the police force is a part of the government. Similar to how liberals don t trust anyone with a
weapon, seeing many homicide stories have made the headlines. As a moderate, I ve done
researches on how other countries control their government and I found one weapon control from
Japan to be very suitable for our own use in the United States. The idea benefits both sides of the
party; the common individuals are allowed to have weapons for their own protection but only
when they have taken classes and pass a certain test of mental and physical health to prove their
fitness. A background check is also permitted to prevent any member of criminal or extremist
groups to have such weapons. Then a file is kept along with all gun owners in that area. Every
few years, the individual could take their weapon to the police for inspection and any broken
parts. Every few years, the individual would also retake the fitness tests to ensure they are still
very able to keep the firearm. This includes to all police members as well. That would be gun

Ambiguity In Henry James s Turn Of The Screw
Henry James constructs an epic novel of romance and mystery, engendering many interpretations of
Turn of the Screw. James intentionally creates ambiguity by utilizing an incomplete frame to
introduce the atmosphere of a ghost story through its diction, setting, and tone, in order to capture
an active reader who must interact with the text. Frames hold a distinct purpose to provide insight
and background to the coming story, which James succeeds in, but goes one step farther. James
introduces the obvious ambiguity in the prologue through its point of view in order to establish a
participating reader to make judgements on their own from the very beginning.
James introduces the atmosphere of a ghost story by consisting the frame of multiple tales being
told out of competition at the third person point of view, which then allows the reader to experience
the mood and perspective of a spectator rather than a teller. In the opening sentence, the narrator
touches on the fact that it was a common tradition to exchange ghost stories on Christmas Eve by
saying they were not sufficiently breathless out of horror, but because it was respectfully a
favorable story. As well, there are other motivations for tales being told other than it being a
tradition, which happens to be competition (Williams 49). Douglas exemplifies this when asking
the reader and the surrounding characters, but it s not the first occurrence of its charming kind that
I know to have involved a child. If the child

Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors
Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors
Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare s first plays. The minor characters, in the play, Egeon and
the Duke, set up the framework of the play. Egeon, at the request of the Duke, describes his
adventures and relates his life story. This provides the history of The Comedy of Errors, and helps
keep track of the confusion, which unfolds during the play.
There are several themes that Shakespeare uses which are only loosely related to the actual
comedy. The conflicts between burden and freedom, rule and compassion, loss and rebirth all form
a critical undertone within the play. There is also the serious effect time. Shakespeare requires that
all the action end at five o clock, the time of Egeon s execution, ... Show more content on

The Duke also stands to increase possible return by sentencing Egeon to death. His pardon of Egeon
at the end of the play is supposed to indicate that he has not only learned to pardon, but has
overcome his selfishness by having him turn down the ransom which Antipholus offers.
The play also centers on chance or coincidence. This actually relates to the title, since Error comes
from the Latin word translating to wander. The play is really about wandering, and characters
trying to find their true identities.
Another theme prominent throughout the play is in the phrase, drop of water. quot; Antipholus
first uses the phrase to describe himself, since he views himself as a drop of water, which is
trying to find another drop in the vast ocean of mankind. In this case he is referring to his search
for his lost brother and father. Later, Adriana uses the same language when referring to her
husband, and compares their division similar to separating water. The phrase stands for a joining of
two people, and implies an intimate bond. The use of twins in The Comedy of Errors is not
necessarily essentially entertaining.
A further theme that is constantly appearing in the play is that of repression versus freedom.
Beginning with the first scene, Egeon is bound and sentenced; the theory of binding people is made
obvious. It continues with Adriana, who asks her sister why men have more freedom than their
wives. This finishes in the end scenes where

was born in the year 1849, in a small town in Maine. Growing up, she always wanted to be a

home to take care of him and his younger brother. Skinner enjoyed working with his hands, many
of his childhood days were spent building things such as roller scooters, steerable wagons and
sleds. After graduating from high school, he attends Hamilton College where Skinner gained love
for writing but since he wasn t very prosperous, he later said, I had nothing important to say, so

Skinner taught a rat to spend money in the form of glass marbles. The rat: pulled a chain to get a
marble, picked up the marble, carried the marble to a tube, dropped the marble in the tube, and
lastly was rewarded with food. The pigeons will then peck at the disc to get access to the food.
From these studies, Skinner concluded that some form of reinforcement was crucial in learning
new behaviors. This is saying that there is some type of influence on behaviors from your
environment and not involuntary responses to stimuli. Skinner was often portrayed in a negative
light. For example, a myth that he raised one of his daughters in a Skinner Box and performed
experiments on her gained traction. The truth was that Skinner, who loved inventing gadgets, had
designed a warm, enclosed, temperature controlled bed/playpen for his daughter to sleep and play
in without the need for clothes or blankets it may not have been how everyone would raise a baby,
but it as child rearing, experimental psychology, behavioral therapy, management, education, and
self help. Dvorsky, G. (2014, March 21). Skinner was very influential even though he wasn t what
the rumor mongers suggested. Home. (n.d.).
Skinner had gone on to receive his PhD from Harvard in 1931 after receiving it he was a
researcher until 1936 in which he took an academic position at the University of Minnesota. Skinner

Example Of A Compost Proposal Example
The GatesburgGoGreen Initative is a great idea in my personal opion. Not only will it save
money, it will also save our planet that we are poluting. This is an idea that people should
deffinately take the time to stop and think about before they just decide that it is a terrible idea,
because there are alot of reasons that this proposal will help all of us in the long run. For starts I
believe that composting is a great idea.Instead of raking and bagging up all you leaves and send
them to a land fill you can combine the leaves with coffee grounds, egg shells, and roting fruits
and vegitables to make a fertilizer that can be used for your garden. This saves plastic bags, that are

What Is The Ten Commandments In Exodus Compared With The...
Compared with the Old Testament, Christian dogmas in the New Testament undergo significant
changes. These differences can be well demonstrated by comparing the Ten Commandments as
presented in Exodus with Jesus commenting upon them in the Gospel of Matthew. The Ten
Commandments, as laid out in Exodus, set most basic rules for every person to follow. They
determine the good and the bad, the moral norms. For example, it isn t morally accepted to kill, to
commit adultery. On the other hand, it s everyone s moral duty to love God, to love and respect
one s parents (Exodus, 20:3). Jesus bases his teaching upon the same commandments. Talking to
his disciples, as presented in Matthew s, he gives to these basic and simply listed rules more depth

Three Major Perspectives Of School Psychology
School psychologists are problem solvers who are responsible for collecting, analyzing, and
interpreting vast amounts of information and data for educational and psychological interventions.
Along with these responsibilities it is also of utmost important to be a well rounded school
psychologist in the area of theories and causes. An in depth understanding of theories can potential
be applied and considered within working with students that come from different environments.
Three major perspectives on abnormal child development were articulated within Chapter 2 titled
Theories and Causes. The three major perspectives focused on (1) biological perspectives; (2)
psychological perspectives; and (3) familial, social, and cultural influences.... Show more content on

Psychological disorders in children and adults are considered to be the cause of brain and nervous
system functions described as the neurobiological perspective. One of the most interesting topics
discussed within the biological perspective is the process of neural plasticity. In the past there was a
misconception about children s brain development that was often connected to Freud s theory that
stated that the core personality of children formed at an early age. Due to extensive research this is
no longer the belief. Based on research brain functions continually change as they adapt to
environmental demands. Neural plasticity changes structure, function and organization of neurons
in response to new experiences. That being stated, the environment plays a critical role in a
developing brain. As a future school psychologist this information is critical when assessing,
supporting or observing students. Experiences will have an effect on the development or learning
of children resulting in normal or abnormal behavior. Children that are spoken to frequently during
an early age will often display good language skills and well organized brain structures. However,
children who are rarely spoken to may have stunted language development and immature language
brain systems. This information brings emphasis to the important of early interventions in a child s

Ethnocentrism is the perception of superiority in one s ethnic group, but it can also develop from
racial or religious differences. Therefore, we will be guilty of ethnocentrism when we impose our
cultural norms and values onto the cultural norms and values of Jesus and His contemporaries.
These are to be avoided when reading and reflecting on the bible for the simple reason that they

A few of his favorites are mirror shots, corpse point of view shot, and bird s eye POV shot. A
few examples of mirror shots in his films are in Inglorious Bastards there is a reflection of
Soshanna in the window, in Pulp Fiction when Vincent is in the bathroom trying to straighten
himself out, and in Django Unchained there is a mirror shot of Django when he kills the three
wanted brothers. These shots are used to reflect a character s intimate time alone or to give
another point of view within a scene. The corpse POV shots are more common in his older
movies such as Four Rooms, Pulp Fiction, and Jackie Brown. These shots are used to indicate
what the corpse would be seeing. Some examples of these shots are in Inglorious Bastards when
Donny Donowitz and Lt. Aldo Raine are threatening someone while looking down on them or in
Pulp Fiction when Marsellus wakes up after being hit by Butch s car. The bird s POV shot (also
known as God s POV shot) is seen in Jackie Brown when Jackie is hiding money in her bag in the

Ticks Use Several Ways For Locate Hosts
Ticks use several ways to locate hosts. Some quest, i.e. they crawl onto vegetation and wait for
passing hosts which they grab onto using their front legs, then crawl on the host until they find a
suitable site to attach and feed (Walker et al., 2003). The tick s questing behaviour is related to host
kairomones which are residues rubbed off host body onto vegetation (Terassini et al., 2010). Ticks
become akinetic upon encountering residues of kairomones (Carroll, 1998). As Artiodactyla and
Peryssodactyla usually frequent the same trails (Emmons and Feer, 1997), ticks waiting on these
positions have a chance of successfully encountering the host (Carroll, 2003). Arrestment
pheromones present in cast larval skins, tickfaecal droppings and tick body exudates also induce
akinetic (Sonenshine and Roe, 2014). These two pheromones result in clustering of ticks. The
arrestment pheromones are interspecies specific, i.e Ornithodoros moubata arrestment pheromones
induce ceasation of movement in O. tholozani (Sonenshine, 2004). This behaviour is also expressed
between some different genera (Sonenshine and Roe, 2014).
Adult ticks of Amblyomma and Hyalomma are exophilic, i.e. they hunt for a nearby host by
running across the ground (Walker et al., 2003). Argasids and many Ixodes species are endophilic,
i.e. they spent their life time in a host s nest from where they attach to available host. A few species
of ticks have adapted to human dwellings, e.g. Rhipicephalus sanguineus. These feed

Jon Snow As A Good Role Model
Does Jon Snow carry the traits that make up a good role model for persons around twenty years
of age? The attributes that comprise an excellent role model for those around college age can
often be matched with those that Jon Snow, from the hit television show Game of Thrones,
possess. Jon snow can be a positive role model for those around college age, as he is an
honorable man, has been through a large amount of difficulty in his life, and he is humble even
when he has much greater living and social position than others. Possessing these traits can create
a excellent icon for a role model, which Jon snow often displays these characteristics. One of the

Throughout the seventh season of the show, Jon displays a great value of what he says, in
which he is not willing to put the value of his own word up for a powerful and invaluable
alliance between two sides in a war. While talking to another ruler about his word, Jon claims
that When enough people make false promises, words stop meaning anything, and there are no
more answers only better and better lies (Benioff Weiss, 2017), thus he knows that every time
someone lies the value of their word is less trustworthy, and to not lie keep his honesty unhurt.
Being able to have great honesty and the trust of people is a trait that others will look up to, and
as a role model, it is an invaluable characteristic to obtain. A third important virtue that any
decent role model should bear is being humble. To put it as Gloria Schramm states, Be humble.
No matter how accomplished you are, other people still deserve basic courtesy and respect
(Schramm, 2017). Often it is shown how Jon Snow is one of the humblest characters in Game of
Thrones, as he often respects others that may be less than him on the social ladder or in riches, but
yet he still recognizes everyone for their own

Essay on Claims by Judith Ortiz
Claims by Judith Ortiz
Judith Ortiz Cofer is a Puerto Rican whose writing often examines the conflict and the beauty of
cultures mixing together, as people immigrate to America. Though she exhibits a strong connection
to her Latin heritage, she often seems to also resent that part of her life. There are many standards
and expectations in the Puerto Rican society which Cofer writes to subvert, viewing them
negatively. As a Puerto Rican woman, Cofer often disagrees with the limits and expectations
placed on a woman in Puerto Rican society, and this attitude is the subject of much of her work. In
Claims, the speaker describes Grandmother. Cofer uses this poem to illustrate a family and
describe an individual, as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Examining Claims on another lever, one finds messages speaking out against the portrayal of a
good woman in Puerto Rican societies. Women are expected to sacrifice every aspect of their
own lives for their husbands and children. The Grandmother accepted her role in society, but
always had dreams of claiming her own life. Grandmother made a promise when she was
married, and she kept her promise. She raised five children and led a life committed to a
husband who was expected by society to wander. But all along, Grandmother had dreamed of the
day when she could secure her freedom. She dreamed of sleeping in her own bed and simply
being herself. Her dream is finally realized in old age, as described in the poem. Grandmother
claimed the right to be herself and live her life. Her days were constantly occupied by caring for
her children and her nights were always invaded by her husband s presence. Now that her family
has all moved on, Grandmother has her house and her life for herself. Each right that she has
claimed has multiple meanings about her life and society, her dreams and true personality. The first
right, that of sleeping alone and owning her nights, describes an internal conflict which
Grandmother carried. While she truly loved her family, she yearned for space and freedom. She
wanted to control at least some part of her life, but

Great Depression And The Great Recession
The Great Depression and the Great Recession are two of the darkest times in American history.
There is much debate about the cause of the Great Depression and how it differed from the cause
of the Great Recession. Many people believe that the stock market crash of 1929 played a major
role the Great Depression. On the other hand, the stock marketcrash of 2008 drove America into the
Great Recession. The causes of stock market crashes are often unforeseen, but many have
detectable indicators. There are many differences between the 1929 stock market crash and the
2008 stock market crash, but we can learn more from the similarities between the two. The credit
boom of the 1920 s is one of the things that contributed most to the stock market crash on 1929 and
then the eventual cause of the Great Depression. We find that the credit boom view provides a
useful perspective on both the boom of the 1920s and the subsequent slump. In particular, it
directs attention to the role played by the structure of the financial sector and the interaction of
finance and innovation. (Eichengreen) As many people know today, having a credit card and
going shopping without realizing exactly how a credit card works can put the user in a tough
situation. After a person puts something on credit they must pay it back at a later date. In the
1920 s the credit boom was where people had started to use credit more frequently and were
getting carried away with the idea of credit. People putting more

Case Study Of Tata Docomo
Tata DoCoMo launched its operations on June 24th, 2009 in Chennai, its unique selling proposition
was the one paisa per second billing plan for telephone calls. Anil Sardana who was the then
managing director at TTL, made the first call under the new tariff system that day to telecom
minister Adimuthu Raja. Ratan Tata, Tata Group
s chairman at that time, said at the launch that the
per second tariff plan will create a paradigm shift for the phone users.
Sandhu studied various markets and similar tariff schemes before launching per second plan. One
such scheme was by the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Co., which operated under the Du
brand in Middle East. But this had not achieved much success due to lack of adequate marketing
support system.
The company launched TV and print advertisements with catchy taglines such as Second is the new
minute . Within five months of the launch Tata DoCoMoattracted 10 million customers. Three
fourths of them came from other operators. Soon, all operators including market leaders Bharti
Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular launched per second plans and a major tariff war erupted in the
telecom industry that had far reaching effects.
Here Tata Docomo was at an expanding stage. The offers it provided gave them good feedbacks

Cultural Anthropology Research Paper
Throughout the world many people find it very difficult to communicate with people that do not
share the same ideals as them. This lack of communication is a major barrier in advancement of our
world. Anthropology, in short, is the study of humans living and dead Anthropology is divided into
five main categories: applied, linguistic, medical, biological, archaeological, and cultural. Each of
these five divisions teaches a different aspect of humanlife.
Cultural anthropology teaches acceptance. There are social norms that can be found in every culture
, the difference from culture to culture is socialization how people react appropriately to one in
another. These differences can be in food, clothing, or religion. Each difference has meaning to
why it is done that certain way, either because of climate, history, resources or any other aspect
that causes people to live the way they do. If cultural differences are studied further,
comparisons can be made to one s own way of life and both cultures begin to look very similar.
Once a person has been made aware of the differences and the reasons why they occur, it becomes
easier to become more understand to a group of people s needs or wants.
This universal of understanding tends to come in handy during a job or even in everyday social
interaction. People tend to want to work harder when they are treated as equals and not when they
are being told what to do. Anthropology research teaches how to be respectful when interacting with

Religion, Acceptance, And Social Change
Throughout time, the views of homosexuality throughout a country can change. Whether its
religion, acceptance, laws, or social change, the views will evolve. Greece serves as an example
of a country that was once accepting of homosexuality, but is slowly progressing to not be as
accepting. In Ancient Greece, homosexual relationships occurred regularly between an older man,
and a younger child. As stated on pbs.org, Traditionally these relationships involved an older man
and a youth and lasted until the youth reached full adulthood. Thereafter this type of relationship
was frowned upon because physical love was perceived as always involving one person in a
position of submission, something that was unacceptable for a full Greek citizen. In Ancient
Greece, homosexualitywasn t much of an issue because of gender, it was an issue based on age. The
acceptance of homosexuality throughout Ancient Greece has made a sharp turn in modern day
Greece. Although there are currently no laws against gay marriage, there are no laws that protect
homosexuals. For example, households where the main head is a homosexual couple s do not
have the same rights to protection as compared to couples that are heterosexual. Greece has
experienced a turning point on their stance regarding homosexuality. A concept that was once
highly accepted and viewed as common is now beginning to be looked down upon. Hate crime
against homosexuals in Greece has begun to increase. As Fragkiska Megaloudi wrote on the

Neil Postman s Amusing Ourselves To Death
A public disclosure, if properly executed, is used to introduce an issue in society and address the
problems with that specific problem. Neil Postman s novel Amusing Ourselves to Death,
successfully emphasizes the effect of media in our contemporary society in the form of a public
disclosure. Postman utilizes multiple writing techniques to support his claims. Neil Postman s
novel Amusing Ourselves to Death was written to inform the modern day society as to how media,
specifically television, has negative effects on a persons everyday life by making a person
virtually powerless and turning the population into an audience. Postman uses an example of
Aldous Huxley to demonstrate that our society has been molded into one where the people are
too distracted by the media to examine their lives closer and understand that they are virtually
powerless. Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us (2nd page of Foreword). We, as a
society, love television. We watch it when we are bored, when we are tired, and even keep it on
when conversations are being had as background noise. Needless to say we love it. Postman uses
this quote to show that television, something that we love, is distracting... Show more content on

My heart feels like its pounding through my chest, and sweat is pouring off my face as I sprint in a panic. I hear the key turning and the door opening just as I jump out the window. I ve been staying in that house for over a week now. It s for sale and real estate agents come by every few days to show it. I m a light sleeper and I ve been able to slip out before anyone can see I ve been staying there. I have no where to go except the street, mission centers, and buildings I break into. Absolutism In The French Revolution Introduction Europe has always been a great creator and revolutionary continent regarding history, plenty of revolutions and ideas developments took place there, passing through changes on territories demands, and many kinds of governments. In the 18th century, most of the countries were still under an absolutist government, which means the absolute king had total control of any aspect of the population. Notwithstanding in France, in the late eighteenth century, absolutism constituted a huge obstacle to the full development of the French bourgeoisie. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bourgeoisie, had a better social status, however they claimed for greater political participation and more economic freedom in their work, since everything was ruled by the absolutist government. Due this oppressive situation in France, and the visit of French intellectuals to the English Parliament, the Old Regime began to be criticized, and intellectuals concluded that the present government in France was unfair, and that the population was oppressed and unhappy. The traditional order should be overturned, in the name of freedom. A proposal for a new society was created; the government would only be fair when guaranteeing the freedom and equality of all before the law. Thus, the Universal Law of legal equality was developed, and still prevails to this day: all men are created equal. In the economy physiocracy (power of nature) was expected to occur, it should work naturally, that is no barriers for business; the state should not meddle in the economy (with rules, monopolies, and others). For the enlightenment intellectuals no society should be obliged to accept the tyranny. • 4. Analysis Of Cvs Health Corporation s 2014 10 K Report Background: According to CVS Health Corporation s 2014 10 K report, the company contains three reportable segments: (1) Pharmacy Services, (2) Retail Pharmacy, and (3) Corporate. The Pharmacy Services segment provides Medicare, specialty mail order pharmacy, prescription management systems, clinical services, and disease management programs to those in need. The Retail Pharmacy segment entails the entire CVS store itself, which contains the pharmacy, minute clinic, and front store selling merchandise. Prescription drugs accounted for about 70% of the company s net revenues for the past three years (U.S. SEC Form 10 K). The purpose of this memo is to address the topics of inherent risk, control risk, and detection risk. We will do this by addressing an accounting policy stated in the company s 10 K report. We will discuss risks associated with the accounting policy, recognize company controls, and test those controls. Substantive analytics and tests of details will follow. Lastly, we will discuss fraud and extended procedures to detect fraud. To end, we will conclude by outlining the main points and emphasizing our audit plan. Accounting Policy and Assertion Evaluation The significant accounting policy that we ve decided to review would be CVS Health Corporation s revenue recognition policy. We are most concerned about the company overstating sales revenue and adding fictitious sales (Louwers, Ramsay, Sinason, Strawser, Thibodeau, 2015, pg. 272). According to the ... • 7. Migrant Workers and Xenophobia In addition, the continued increase of the migrant workers in Singapore might lead to xenophobia in the country. According to Khan, Rola and Ruxandra migrant workers continue to suffer economic prejudice because government employment policies operate in favor of national workers (1). In Singapore, migrant workers make up a larger percentage of the population thereby leading to competition over employment with the natives. As such, the possibility of xenophobia prevailing in Singapore is high. This is because competition between natives and foreigners over meager economic resources has always led to xenophobia in many other countries. For example, xenophobia has been a problem in South Africa because the residents accuse African immigrants from the horn of Africa for stealing their jobs (Slier, para. 3). The xenophobia problems come from unemployed South Africans. Nonetheless, most of the immigrants struggle to earn a living in the same way the natives do but the natives view them as competitors. For instance, most successful immigrant groups are Somalis. The reason for the success of the Somalis is their entrepreneurial skills as well as their strong intra ethnic ties that resemble those of the Indians. Each slum has an isolated Somali neighborhood where most Somali refugees live and work (Abdi, para. 7). Nonetheless, most Somali refugees and immigrants face insecurity from the local vigilante groups and gangs because they view them as aliens. However, there has been ... The first element of TQM is the most important element, which is the customer. According to ASQ the element of customer focused is so that the customer ultimately determines the level of quality. • 13. Why Do Leaders Lose Credibility Five Reasons Leaders Lose Credibility An ideal leader is persuasive, charismatic and righteous. No one would follow someone who is not credible or fit enough for a leader s job. Persuasion is central to leadership. The message, the messenger, along with the route of transmission matters. A plausible messenger is more likely to get the confidence of the people who follow. Communication and Other Factors Communication is another big factor in leadership. A good leader is the one who is able to connect with his people. Communication skills are not about good grammar or high command over a language. A good communication requires the message to receive the other end in the same exact pattern. To have a command over your credibility, as a leader, you must be able to reason out with yourself. • 15. Security Dilemm Spiral Model Security Dilemma (spiral model) What is a security dilemma ? Does it cause wars? Is the security dilemma confined to international politics? Introduction National security is arguably the primary objective of political leaders and yet conflict and war seems an inevitable aspect of international politics and thus a dominant theme in IR scholarship. The security dilemma or so called spiral model is frequently used to explain the escalation of conflict and onset of war in international politics, particularly paralleling the sequence of events that prompted World War I and the super power arms race during the Cold War . The question remains, however, as a theoretical model, does the security dilemma trigger war? Perhaps a more salient question given the rise in ethnic conflicts and security threats from non state actors since the Cold War is can the security dilemma literature provide policy relevant guidance of how to deal with these sub state threats to regional and perhaps international stability? This response proceeds as follows: First, I define the term security dilemma as well as contextualize its development within the IR scholarship. Second, I argue, the security dilemma concept coupled with neorealist theoretical assumptions may indeed perpetuate a hostile international environment, creating a self fulfilling prophecy effect. Instead, I suggest, the constructivist framework offers much needed intersubjective understandings and ideational alternatives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After Ray hands the car over to Robbie, he wears his cap correctly because he is given adult like responsibilities. Later in the scene, Robbie hands the car over to Ray as they approach a mob of people showing that he still relies on his him and this demonstrates the change in their relationship. As early as the 1960s renowned scientists such as Good and Neumann theorized of an intelligence explosion, now known as the technology singularity, resulting from intelligent machines designing their next generation without human intervention. This idea of artificial intelligence (AI) has grown immensely and is a common topic amongst scholars, scientists, and theorists in the mathematic and scientific world. The key idea underlying the impending Singularity is that the pace of change of our human created technology is accelerating and its powers are expanding at an exponential pace. Exponential growth is deceptive. It starts out almost imperceptibly and then explodes with unexpected fury unexpected, that is, if one does not take care to follow its trajectory (Kurzweil, 8, 2005). Ray Kurzweil a scientist, inventor, author, and current director of engineering at Google is the leading theorist of the Singularity. So what is the singularity you ask? Most simply put Kurzweil defines it as, a future period during which the pace of technological change will be so rapid, its impact so deep, that human life will be irreversibly transformed (Kurzweil, 2005, 7). • 32. Max Weber Sociology Of Religion Along with Durkheim and Marx, Weber was one of the most influential thinkers in the foundation of the field of sociology, Weber namely in establishing the subject of the sociology of religion. Weber s mother was a devout Calvinist, while his father was involved in politics and intellectual pursuits. In addition to his vast education in many fields, Weber was also a jurist, and a teacher at the Universities of Berlin and Heidelberg. Max Weberfavoured a hermeneutical approach to studying religion(McCutcheon 2007, p.188) in a method known as Verstehen. This refers to wishing to understand the deeper significance of something, in this case religion, by studying it from the perspective and experience of another, and the meaning they then attach to it. Since religious beliefs affect people s behaviour, Weber believed that religions could have profound effects on societies and their development (Connolly 1999, p.199). While Weber, like Marx, saw religion as emerging from suffering, he had a more positive attitude towards it, seeing it as having benefits. He saw religion as being something which gave humans meaning in life and a way to respond to suffering (Herling 2015, p.74). An example the Christian doctrine of original sin can serve as an explanation for evil in the world, thereby offering a solution for people to reconcile and cope with their suffering in the world and their lives (Weber 1965, p.139). Karl Marx believed that a capitalist society was to blame for alienation of the workers (Sociology, 2013). Alienation involves workers feeling isolated and away from the end product. Which dehumanizes them making workers feel unsatisfied and feel as though they are unable to improve their lifestyle. He found particular ways to which capitalism alienates those who work. Those ways were split in to four different categories, which are: Being alienated from the act of working which is being alienated from their own choice as they are not given a right to decide what product to make and how they are going to make it. There is also being alienated from the product, this can be linked to the Bugs Life as the food the ants provide for the grass hoppers is not seen again after being taken away from them. The feeling of being alienated from other workers, Marx stated is also a type of alienation which can also be linked with Bugs Life as throughout the season the focus for the ants is to collect food from the grasshoppers by walking in single file lines, therefore are not able to talk to one another. The final type of alienation according to Marx is the feeling of being alienated from their human potential which is where one lacks the ability to develop and gain knowledge whilst at work which helps dehumanize them as they are not living up to their human ... Like two ends of a stick, their views are against one another although they should be the same. However, there is always a moderate position that can satisfy both extreme ends. My personal beliefs and ideals would be assisting me when finding the moderate views, for I m neither a conservative nor a liberal; I believe in pleasing both ends, which, despite the stories, can be possible. As a moderate, I ve done researches on how other countries control their government and I found one weapon control from Japan to be very suitable for our own use in the United States. The idea benefits both sides of the party; the common individuals are allowed to have weapons for their own protection but only when they have taken classes and pass a certain test of mental and physical health to prove their fitness. A background check is also permitted to prevent any member of criminal or extremist groups to have such weapons. Then a file is kept along with all gun owners in that area. • 36. Ambiguity In Henry James s Turn Of The Screw Henry James constructs an epic novel of romance and mystery, engendering many interpretations of Turn of the Screw. James intentionally creates ambiguity by utilizing an incomplete frame to introduce the atmosphere of a ghost story through its diction, setting, and tone, in order to capture an active reader who must interact with the text. Frames hold a distinct purpose to provide insight and background to the coming story, which James succeeds in, but goes one step farther. James introduces the obvious ambiguity in the prologue through its point of view in order to establish a participating reader to make judgements on their own from the very beginning. James introduces the atmosphere of a ghost story by consisting the frame of multiple tales being told out of competition at the third person point of view, which then allows the reader to experience the mood and perspective of a spectator rather than a teller. In the opening sentence, the narrator touches on the fact that it was a common tradition to exchange ghost stories on Christmas Eve by saying they were not sufficiently breathless out of horror, but because it was respectfully a favorable story. As well, there are other motivations for tales being told other than it being a tradition, which happens to be competition (Williams 49). Douglas exemplifies this when asking the reader and the surrounding characters, but it s not the first occurrence of its charming kind that I know to have involved a child. If the child ... • 37. Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare s first plays. The minor characters, in the play, Egeon and the Duke, set up the framework of the play. Egeon, at the request of the Duke, describes his adventures and relates his life story. This provides the history of The Comedy of Errors, and helps keep track of the confusion, which unfolds during the play. There are several themes that Shakespeare uses which are only loosely related to the actual comedy. The conflicts between burden and freedom, rule and compassion, loss and rebirth all form a critical undertone within the play. There is also the serious effect time. The Duke also stands to increase possible return by sentencing Egeon to death. His pardon of Egeon at the end of the play is supposed to indicate that he has not only learned to pardon, but has overcome his selfishness by having him turn down the ransom which Antipholus offers. The play also centers on chance or coincidence. This actually relates to the title, since Error comes from the Latin word translating to wander. The play is really about wandering, and characters trying to find their true identities. Another theme prominent throughout the play is in the phrase, drop of water. quot; Antipholus first uses the phrase to describe himself, since he views himself as a drop of water, which is trying to find another drop in the vast ocean of mankind. In this case he is referring to his search for his lost brother and father. Later, Adriana uses the same language when referring to her husband, and compares their division similar to separating water. The phrase stands for a joining of two people, and implies an intimate bond. The use of twins in The Comedy of Errors is not necessarily essentially entertaining. A further theme that is constantly appearing in the play is that of repression versus freedom. Beginning with the first scene, Egeon is bound and sentenced; the theory of binding people is made obvious. It continues with Adriana, who asks her sister why men have more freedom than their wives. This finishes in the end scenes where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the most interesting topics discussed within the biological perspective is the process of neural plasticity. Due to extensive research this is no longer the belief. Based on research brain functions continually change as they adapt to environmental demands. Neural plasticity changes structure, function and organization of neurons in response to new experiences. That being stated, the environment plays a critical role in a developing brain. • 47. Ticks Use Several Ways For Locate Hosts Ticks use several ways to locate hosts. Some quest, i.e. they crawl onto vegetation and wait for passing hosts which they grab onto using their front legs, then crawl on the host until they find a suitable site to attach and feed (Walker et al., 2003). The tick s questing behaviour is related to host kairomones which are residues rubbed off host body onto vegetation (Terassini et al., 2010). Ticks become akinetic upon encountering residues of kairomones (Carroll, 1998). As Artiodactyla and Peryssodactyla usually frequent the same trails (Emmons and Feer, 1997), ticks waiting on these positions have a chance of successfully encountering the host (Carroll, 2003). Arrestment pheromones present in cast larval skins, tickfaecal droppings and tick body exudates also induce akinetic (Sonenshine and Roe, 2014). These two pheromones result in clustering of ticks. The arrestment pheromones are interspecies specific, i.e Ornithodoros moubata arrestment pheromones induce ceasation of movement in O. tholozani (Sonenshine, 2004). This behaviour is also expressed between some different genera (Sonenshine and Roe, 2014). Adult ticks of Amblyomma and Hyalomma are exophilic, i.e. they hunt for a nearby host by running across the ground (Walker et al., 2003). This lack of communication is a major barrier in advancement of our world. Anthropology, in short, is the study of humans living and dead Anthropology is divided into five main categories: applied, linguistic, medical, biological, archaeological, and cultural. Each of these five divisions teaches a different aspect of humanlife. Cultural anthropology teaches acceptance. There are social norms that can be found in every culture , the difference from culture to culture is socialization how people react appropriately to one in another. These differences can be in food, clothing, or religion. Each difference has meaning to why it is done that certain way, either because of climate, history, resources or any other aspect that causes people to live the way they do. If cultural differences are studied further, comparisons can be made to one s own way of life and both cultures begin to look very similar. Whether its religion, acceptance, laws, or social change, the views will evolve. Greece serves as an example of a country that was once accepting of homosexuality, but is slowly progressing to not be as accepting. In Ancient Greece, homosexual relationships occurred regularly between an older man, and a younger child. As stated on pbs.org, Traditionally these relationships involved an older man and a youth and lasted until the youth reached full adulthood. Thereafter this type of relationship was frowned upon because physical love was perceived as always involving one person in a position of submission, something that was unacceptable for a full Greek citizen. In Ancient Greece, homosexualitywasn t much of an issue because of gender, it was an issue based on age. For example, households where the main head is a homosexual couple s do not have the same rights to protection as compared to couples that are heterosexual. Greece has experienced a turning point on their stance regarding homosexuality. A concept that was once highly accepted and viewed as common is now beginning to be looked down upon. Hate crime against homosexuals in Greece has begun to increase. As Fragkiska Megaloudi wrote on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Neil Postman s Amusing Ourselves To Death A public disclosure, if properly executed, is used to introduce an issue in society and address the problems with that specific problem. Neil Postman s novel Amusing Ourselves to Death, successfully emphasizes the effect of media in our contemporary society in the form of a public disclosure. Postman utilizes multiple writing techniques to support his claims. Neil Postman s novel Amusing Ourselves to Death was written to inform the modern day society as to how media, specifically television, has negative effects on a persons everyday life by making a person virtually powerless and turning the population into an audience. Postman uses an example of Aldous Huxley to demonstrate that our society has been molded into one where the people are too distracted by the media to examine their lives closer and understand that they are virtually powerless. Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us (2nd page of Foreword). We, as a society, love television. We watch it when we are bored, when we are tired, and even keep it on when conversations are being had as background noise. Needless to say we love it. Postman uses this quote to show that television, something that we love, is distracting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everything comes with negatives. But it is much later in the game now, and ignorance of the score is inexcusable. To be unaware that a technology comes equipped with a program for social change, to maintain that technology is neutral, to make the assumption that technology is always a friend to culture is, at this late hour, stupidity plain and simple (Chapter 11 Page 5). It is extremely important to acknowledge and understand that technology can drastically change a society. For the purpose of this essay the technology is television and the change is our culture valuing entertainment over substance, which is turning us into a nation who sits back and lets people run the country the way they ...
