Library Of Babel Analysis
Fantasy and It s Effect On Us Prompt: Worlds of fantasy/ dreams/ imagination are incorporated by
Borges in his fictions, explain how he does this and what effect it has? Borges is known as a famous
author of magical realism, a genre that combines real situations and real life with fantasy. This
undoubtedly has an influence in the way Borges incorporates worlds of fantasy/ dreams/ imagination
into his works. Borges creates these worlds by transforming something of such simplicity into
something more complex and meaningful. By using these devices, Borges is able to impact the readers
by allowing them to imagine them and maybe even change their point of view on that simple thing or
situation. In The Library of Babel, Borges talks about a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This creates an imagery that the reader in reality cannot relate to since with modern times, the
existence of that library itself is unbelievable but can see and understand why the people reacted that
way since a human mind tends to question everything so being able to find the answers to all those
questions seems like a fantasy that every person wishes to live. In The Circular Ruins, a man goes to a
jungle that leads to a temple that has been destroyed by a fire, and goes to sleep, so he can dream up a
man. It works to a certain point but insomnia overtakes him and he can t continue his dream, so all his
progress is lost. He then decides on another way in where he creates the man gradually. He dreamed
an entire man a young man, but who did not sit up or talk, who was unable to open his eyes. Night
after night, the man dreamt him asleep. This all seems like a fantasy, but dreaming in itself is
something we can t really explain. Dreaming is also associated with things that otherwise would be
Granados 3 impossible to achieve in real life, so the reader starts imagining how the man goes through
the process and if that would be possible to be achieved since our dreams are already composed of
versions of people that are either close to them or they have

Weberian Bureaucracy Case Study
First of all, I agree that the political structure and administrative arrangements in Hong Kong have
contributed to the closest approximation of Weberian bureaucracy in contemporary world. When Hong
Kong government gained sovereignty after the handover in 1997, it has adopted the bureaucracy
model to solve the problems of its inefficiency post government during the colonial period. The
bureaucracy was suggested by a German sociologist Max Weber, who claimed it as an ideal system for
the efficiency of the organization and administration. Max Weber s bureaucracy consists of six
specific characteristics: division of work, authority hierarchy, formal selection, formal rules and
regulations, impersonality, and career orientation. Among these six ... Show more content on

For the Victoria Harbor planning, Hong Kong government decided to coordinate with various non
government actors and private sectors. This was because the Government believed harbor planning
should not only limited to government s purview but should integrate the public s opinions towards
the planning. However, the government was superior in decision making process and showed that it
did not wanted publics to engage in policy making process. For example, most of policy making
process was done autonomously by the government where the non government actors were absent;
lack of communication channel between the government and non government sectors; and
government only informed its decisions to non government sectors without consulting with them.
Therefore, there were constant conflicts between the government, private sectors, and the group of
civil society throughout the process. If there was a proper communications and co ordination, and if
government allowed non government actors to engage in decision making process, the tension
between the government and non government actors wouldn t be exist. Because even though their
interests and aims are different they can reach an agreement throughout the direct and indirect
communications. Therefore, with impersonality presents in the policy co ordination process, the power
structure would not

The skill which I am going to discuss about is impulse...
The skill which I am going to discuss about is impulse control. It means regardless of what is asked or
done, one is unable to control the need to act upon something. In other words, impulse can be
described as an immediate action or reaction that is particularly evident in emotions. This is an
important skill in today s environment which can indicate the adaptability of an individual in an
external environment and potentially determine future success. For instance, if one is unable to control
his/her impulse and bursts out of anger at every occasion; that person may not be emotionally fit to be
successful because of the lack of self control on their impulses. In the EQ report, the result indicates
that I am rarely impatient and only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
SELF REGARD: It helps to assess both external capabilities and internal strength. It is an individual s
ability to maintain a positive self view in terms of personality, self esteem, and individual regard to
other people, but maintain respect and decency in society with morals and virtues. In the EQ report,
the result indicates that I am self assured in my abilities to perform responsibilities in various settings.
Of course, it is a correct evaluation because I usually think of the consequences of my actions upon
others. I agree to anything with a full satisfactory level by seeing the positive side alone. In my point
of view, positive thought beats negativity. Rather than dwelling on frustrations or things that cannot
change, I will devise a plan of action and ask others for assistance and advise to resolve the problems.
For example, I asked my brother s suggestion before selecting my course. He advised me to take an
accounting course since it has lots of job vacancies in Canada and it gives me a different experience in
this field. Even though it is totally different from my education background, I decided to do this
course with full satisfaction by seeing the positive side. I am sure it gives me the prospect of a very
good career. FLEXIBILITY: It is the ability to adapt to different people in different environments and
the ability to handle an unfamiliar, unpredictable or unforeseen circumstance with grace. Also it

Copthorne Hotel – Department Analysis Essay
Copthorne Hotel Department Analysis
Finance
The finance department at the Copthorne Hotel is extremely important to the running of the hotel.
Some of the finance operations are carried out within the hotel and some are centrally carried out. For
example: Overall accounts, balance sheets for the whole company,
Annual reports and break even analysis area all carried out centrally.
These are all done centrally to reduce the amount of pressure on the individual hotels and to make sure
that they have al the information sorted instead of waiting or the individual hotels to send all of the
information to the central office. Here are a few more jobs that are carried out centrally.

The finance department would need to work out a break even analysis to make sure they are charging
the right amount of money for a room. They would need to do this so they do not lose money.
A way of doing this is to complete a survey of all the other hotels in the country. They could see how
much money the other hotels are charging for a room and if they are making enough profit. This way
they could work out the right price for their rooms.
The finance department would also have to work out a way to make some money to pay back some
interest on their borrowed money. They would have to create a Business Plan outlining how the
borrowed money will make a profit for the hotel.
They would also have to work out a fail safe way to pay the employee s wages. If their wages are paid
on time then the employees will hopefully stay happy and make sure they keep the up the good
customer service. Also, if the finance department pay all of the invoices on time, it will keep the
suppliers happy which in turn will help the departments receive their resources. This will then allow
the staff to maintain the high service expected.

Protein Milk Proteins
Protein
Types of Protein Milk proteins are extensively studied regarding their role in exercise training
adaptations (Hartman et al., 2007; Tang, Moore, Kujbida, Tarnopolsky, Phillips, 2009). Ingestion of
milk proteins following exercise is shown to accelerate muscle recovery, increase glycogen
replenishment, and improve protein balance in a positive manner that allow for increases in muscular
strength and hypertrophy (Cockburn, Stevenson, Hayes, Robson Ansley, Howatson, 2010; Hartman et
al., 2007; Tang et al., 2009; Wojcik, Walberg Rankin, Smith, Gwazdauskas, 2001). Milk proteins also
contain the greatest amount of leucine compared to plant based counterparts (L E Norton Wilson,

Thus suggesting that a fast acting protein such as whey is a more appropriate protein source than

Protein and Leucine There are 20 specific amino acids that are utilized to build proteins utilized in
tissue formation, cellular function, and growth (P. J. Atherton Smith, 2012; Fluck, 2012; Wu, 2009).
Of these 20 there are essential (EAA) and non essential (NEAA) based amino acids, those unable to
be synthesized and those able to be synthesized within the body respectively. Due to EAA s needing to
be introduced via diet, any decreased consumption of these amino acids would impair the body s
ability to properly translate any cellular proteins (Fluck, 2012). Any increase in plasma or myocellular
amino acids above fasting levels promotes, while transient, an increase in protein synthesis, and
reaches its peak roughly 2 hours following ingestion which allows for muscle to be receptive to the
anabolic effects of protein (Pasiakos M., 2012). The ability for a protein to aid in muscle mass
accretion is largely based on its profile of EAAs. Animal based proteins are considered complete
proteins as they contain all EAAs, while plant based proteins lack certain EAAs making them
incomplete. When consuming an isonitrogenous and isoenergetic serving of skim milk and soy milk
with 18 grams of protein, the skim milk was able to stimulate muscle protein synthesis to a greater
extent, 0.1%

Harriet Tubm The Moses Of Her People
Harriet Tubman: The Moses of Her People
On a cold night in the middle of winter, a weary slave ran across the field to the woods. There he met
Harriet Tubman, the conductor, and the rest of her sore footed but hopeful passengers who were ready
to start the long, treacherous journey to freedom on the Underground Railroad. Harriet Tubman, later
called Moses , was a runaway slave who came back to her people and helped over 300 of them gain
freedom. Harriet Tubman was born in Maryland to her slave parents Harriet Green and Ben Ross in
1822. Her mother worked as a cook for the Brodess family and her father was a skilled woodsman
who managed the timber work on the Thompson s plantation (Harriet Tubman par. 2). Because her
mother was so busy in the kitchen, Harriet cared for her younger siblings, till she reached the age of
six. When she was six, Brodess hired her out to be a nurse maid to Miss Susan. She was told to watch
the baby while it slept but when the baby woke up and cried she was whipped. Her next job was to
work for a planter named James Cook. She was assigned to checking the musket traps, even after she
contracted measles. Sadly, she got so ill she was sent back to Brodess were her mother nursed her
back to health.
When Harriet was 13 a slave tried to run away. The overseer threw a 2 pound metal weight at him but
Harriet stood in the way. The weight hit her in the skull and caused her to be unconscious for days.
Harriet never fully recovered and for the rest of her

The Problem of Antibiotic Resistance
ANTIBIOTIC
Antibiotics are a term refers to substances produced by microorganisms that can harm and inhibit or
destroy other microorganisms, specifically bacteria (15). Antibiotics can be produced naturally or
unnaturally via pharmaceutical industries using large scale processes of fermentation. The antibiotics
discovery has been of great significance due to in many clinical settings the antibiotics generally are
the best way to destroy bacteria which cause infections in humans and animals. In 1910, The
Salvarsan use in the treatment of syphilis was the first application of antibiotics (15). In 1930, the
antibiotics application was continued with sulphonamides. In addition, the first use of penicillin was in

countries where diarrhoeal diseases are causing of illness and death, but are also of particular interest
in developing nations, because they are reservoirs for the resistance transmission. 2 â€«Ű§Ù„Ù…Ű±ŰŹŰč‬

SOURCES OF ANTIBIOTICS RESISTANCE IN THE ENVIRONMENT
Agriculture
A long time ago to now, Antibiotics have been used to control and treat plants diseases associated with
bacterial infections. The antibiotics particularly gentamicin, tetracycline, streptomycin and oxolinic
acid were applied in many ways such as spraying and crop dusting (25). This generates pressure for
the selection of antibiotics resistant bacteria in the environment and contributes in direct inputs of
antibiotics into the environment. The resistance can be transferred disease causing bacteria through the
transfer of horizontal gene, indicating that treated crops may have indirect effects on public health

Guatemal A Country And Poor Country
Guatemala is a beautiful, diverse yet small and poor country in Latin America. Because of its ongoing
economic crisis, the country has reached a reality where, according to WFP (2016), Guatemala has not
only the highest rate of malnutrition in Latin America, but also is considered the country with the
fourth biggest rate of chronic malnutrition worldwide. This topic has an enormous relevance because
as WFP (2016) mentions, the chronic malnutrition that kids from this country go though is what makes
Guatemala be one of the 36 countries in the world that form 90% of the worlds stunting. According to
Unicef (2016), the percentage of children of five years or less that are considered to be underweight is
for 4 in every 10. It is astonishing to realize that it is nearly half of the infant population in the entire
country of Guatemala that is undernourished. In the following paragraphs it will be examined
questions involving the relation that mothers have with the under nutrition of the children and if past
generations can influence under nutrition. Furthermore, it will be examined what is traditionally given
to kids at a daycare.
Is there a correlation between the relationships that mothers have with their children s under nutrition
at an early age? Can the current situation of malnutrition have been influenced by past generations?
Under nutrition is not only considered to begin at an advanced age (5 years or more). It has been
proven that infant malnutrition can begin even

Human Characteristics Of Danann
The Tuatha DĂ© Danann were among the mythical races who inhabited Ireland before the advent of the
ancestors of modern Gael known as Gaels. Tuatha DĂ© Danann were the posterities of goddess Danu
(Clark 371). They were also a race of heroes and deities. When Tuatha DĂ© Danann arrived, Ireland
was far from unoccupied. They were the fifth group to settle in Ireland. Some of the settlers were
human whereas others such as Danann were more than mortal ranging from descendants of other Gods
to spirits of the land. According to The Ages of the World the first settlers in Ireland was a race of men
before the Biblical Flood, and they have led a woman known as Cessair who was alleged to be Noah s
daughter. The flood killed all of them apart from Fintan mac Bochra who able to escape by changing
into a salmon. Danann bear both human and divine characteristics.

Mark Antony And Popular Culture
Mark Antony and Popular Culture: Masculinity and the Construction of an Icon by Rachael Kelly, is a
pathbreaking analysis of how Antony (the pop culture icon, hopeless lover and drunkard) differs so
substantially from Antonius (the historical figure, esteemed general and statesman). Kelly successfully
lays out with great quality and depth how the mythology itself performs a deeper socio cultural
function. In order to further examine and engage with this idea, this informative and original study
employs a socio ideological analysis of a series of seven culturally resonating screen texts dating
from, for example, Cleopatra (Cecil B DeMille, 1934) to the television series Rome (HBO, BBC, RAI,
RAI2, 2005 2007). This meticulously ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other important texts that were not examined such as silent films, comedies, animation, and
pornography all of which have told the story of Mark Antony in some way or another at some point

genre conventions of the historical epic, meaningful information about hegemonic masculinity as it is
encoded within these genres is neglected and it does not help that often times, discourses in a
historical epic are embedded within Western gender and identity construction and therefore go unseen
to audiences. However, this exemplar book still greatly contributes to the fields of gender, history and
media by taking gender studies to a new direction by probing the purpose and boundaries of
hegemonic masculinity within Western cultural and political discourse. Students, scholars and fans of

The And Of The Bible
Living in a nation today where people of my own skin color are being discriminated against is a hard
fact to grasp. Personally, by the grace of God, I have never encountered a situation where the color of
my skin has been a problem. This does not deny the fact there is this problem out in the world.
Discrimination can be in many forms race, gender, national origin, religion, disability, and even age.
These many forms of discrimination would cause a division in our nation. Now the church has tried to
find ways to mend this division that is created between people. In Paul s letters to the Ephesians he
addresses this issue. With Peter s letter to the Ephesians he takes a look at the division between the
Jews and then the Gentiles. In the biblical commentaries of the book of Ephesians done by Harold
Hoehner and James Boice, they discus two ways that these verses are talked about. Hoehner and Bocie
talk about how Paul is speaking in the past present and future tense of how the division in the church
came to be, was destroyed and should never happen again. With Paul identifying the Jews as the
circumcised and the Gentiles uncircumcised. This clarification according to Hoehner shows how the
gentiles have no favor or privileges with God like the Jews. Since the Jews had been given Israel and
privileges it is thought that they are better off than the Gentiles (Hoehner 2002). The Jews therefore
have been giving an advantage over the Gentiles (Boice 1988), Now since they are both in

The male equivalent of a mermaid is the merman. Mermaids is a worldwide folklore in many cultures,

Colonial Avoidance Of Duties
How did the British attempt to handle colonial avoidance of duties? While reading chapter I found
myself comparing America to a teenage girl and Britain to a mother who is struggling to keep her
child undercontrol. I think I felt this way because America really hated being told what to do by their
mother country. The catalyst that eventually led to the eroding relationship between the two entities
really was the French and Indian War because Britain was left with a giant debt while America was
left with the satisfaction of winning and more land than ever. Britain called for stricter rule of colonial
lands this angers the colonists because they believe these actions go against their rights as English
citizens. Britain first tried to rein in control with the Proclamation of 1763 which prohibited white
settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains. They followed this with the Quartering Acts which
required all colonists to provide supplies and barracks for soldiers. This really infuriated colonists who
in turn acted like teenagers. They paid no mind to what Britain proclaimed and moved to those lands
anyway. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

One of the major reasons being the importance of the city as Leningrad was a major military outpost
for the Soviet Union and used to be the capital, so this importance to the Soviet Union shows why the
Germans took control of it and started their siege. Another reason for the siege was to draw the Soviet
forces to fight at Leningrad instead of other places. This left a lot of their border weaken and ripe for
attack from the German army. The historical importance of the The Siege of Leningrad must never be
forgotten for many reasons. One of these reasons being the cruelty it shows, as during the siege the
German army killed millions of innocent people in a very cruel way, showing us that even our enemy
are still human. Another way this siege has such importance in history is the human perseverance it
showed on both sides. For the Soviets it was the way that many still survived even despite the siege
and on the German side it was the way they kept the siege up without relenting for 2 years, 4 months,
2 weeks and 5. A final way this siege has historical importance is the way it swayed World War Two
for the Germans on the eastern front as they were losing for a year but was on top after the siege. The
historical event of the Siege of Leningrad has such historical importance and it s important to look at
the history behind it when the author talks of it to better understand what the author is trying to

Protein Synthesis Essay
Protein Synthesis
Protein synthesis is one of the most fundamental biological processes. To start off, a protein is made in
a ribosome. There are many cellular mechanisms involved with protein synthesis. Before the process
of protein synthesis can be described, a person must know what proteins are made out of. There are
four basic levels of protein organization. The first is primary structure, followed by secondary
structure, then tertiary structure, and the last level is quaternary structure. Once someone understands
the makeup of a protein, they can then begin to learn how elements can combine and go from genes to
protein. There are two main processes that occur during protein synthesis, or peptide formation. One is
transcription and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These new formations are held together by hydrogen bonds. The third level is the tertiary structure.
The tertiary structure of a protein is a contorted secondary structure being twisted and folded all out of
shape to form a 3 d complex. The type of bonding that holds these formations together are weak
interactions such as hydrophilic, hydrophobic, ionic, and hydrogen bonds. These bonds are
individually weak, but collectively strong. The forth level, which completes a protein, is quaternary
structure, which occurs when two or more tertiary structures are joined together by polypeptide bonds.
The formation of a protein begins in the genes, which contain the basic building information for all
parts of living organisms. There are four DNA nucleotides that make up genes: A, T, C, and G. A
codon is any arrangement of three of these nucleotides. Each triplet of nucleotides codes for one
amino acid. First transcription will begin in the nucleus where mRNA will transcribe the DNA
template. During both transcription and translation, there are three steps. The first step in transcription
is initiation where RNA polymerase separates a DNA strand and binds RNA nucleotides to the DNA.
RNA nucleotides are the same as DNA ones except that U replaces the T. The second is just the
elongation of the mRNA. The third step of transcription is termination. This occurs when RNA
polymerase reads a codon region and the mRNA separates from the

Democratic Party Racism
Is the Democratic Party the Party of Racism? Most people of the Democratic Party fall into two
different categories; either they are Democrats by design or by deception. The Democratic Party s
history reveals it has long ignored its racist leanings. Historically, the Democrats were the most avid
supporters of slavery while the founding of the Republican Party supported the abolition of slavery,
and the entrenchment of civil liberties in the United States. For instance, the 13th amendment passed
in 1864 that abolished slavery got massive support from the Republicans, in comparison to the
Democrats, in Congress. Also, the agitation by the Republicans for equality is envisaged in the
election of the first seven black Americans during the Reconstruction ... Show more content on

Roosevelt, the failure by most Democrats, especially those in positions of authority, to appreciate
racial equality in support of white supremacy demonstrates their non reformist character and belief in
racism. It reveals the lack of moral conscience amongst Democrats as they fail to visualize how their
racist ideologies erode the democratic gains Americans have fought for such as equality in
representation and access to opportunities. Such insensitiveness is a sign of failure by Democrats to
appreciate the strides that the minorities such as the blacks had fought fervently over the years. It
becomes apparent that most Democrats in leadership positions knew that any support for civil liberties
and other forms of equality would evoke resentment amongst their supporters. It is, therefore, clear
that most of the rights and freedoms being enjoyed in America today are due to non racist ideologies

The Five Approaches And Models Of Consumer Behavior Theory
Consumer behavior theory which is also called utility theory. It is the theory which focus on studying
different groups of consumers decisions of selecting, purchasing, using, disposing various
products(Solomon, Bamossy et al., 2006; Schiffman ANDKanuk 2007). According to Bray, J. P. s
(2008)article which relates to the approaches and models of consumer behavior theory, it is said that
there are five theoretical approaches which would study consumer behavior theory, including
economic man, psychodynamic, behaviorist, cognitive and humanistic.
Economic man which explains that men would maximize the utility by using minimum effort based on
the indicators of cardinal usefulness. For human beings, when they make a decision, they would
consider kinds of aspects before the action, they may think about their own preferences, self economy
condition, the quality and the price of the product, and also the age, they would think whether it is
suitable for them etc and finally make a best choice. However, Psychodynamic is quite different from
the economic man, it is another factor which is influenced by consumers mentalities rather than the
external environment. The willingness of customers decision is from the depth of their heart not
someone else. Behaviorist is the opposition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Audiences Perceive Strong Female Characters,...
To test how audiences perceive strong female characters, Oppenheimer, Goodman, Adams‐Price,
Codling, and Coker (2003) ran a study where they had participants rate strong female characters on a
feminine to masculine scale, as well as attractiveness, sex appeal, relatability not a word, and humor
on a 7 point scale. The aim was to see how participants would respond to a female voice, if an
assertive actress would be characterized as masculine, and in general how female characters are
perceived by viewers. What they found was that women found the female characters to be slightly
stronger than men did, that the actresses were seen as slightly feminine do you mean they were found
to be slightly above the mean for femininity? Not sure what slightly feminine means, and that
attractiveness, sex appeal, and humor had no real impact on the perception of power. Also provide
more detail here were there weaker female characters that were also rated? Or those perceived as less
attractive? Knowing that women and men both consume and internalize representations and
stereotypes portrayed in media, it is important to then look at how women are being depicted and what
some causes behind this shift could be. Lauzen and Dozier (2005) investigated if popular films
continue to carry out the idea too vague use more precise language that men are powerful and
successful and women are submissive and not as successful by looking at an analysis of the top 88
domestic grossing films of 2002.

Addiction In Double Down
With the broad spectrum of addictions being diagnosed, analyzed, and remedied people mostly ignore

Fredrick and Stephen Barthelme, told of their addiction to gambling and the illusions of the casinos.
They had led normal lives excluding their gambling addictions, both being Professors at the college

Compare And Contrast Arm Wrestling With My Father And...
In their recent work, Brad Manning and Sarah Vowell have written about more than one way to have a
close, but different relationship with their fathers. There is has always been a belief that to get along
with someone you would have normal conversations, enjoy each other s company, or share a common
interest. In the story they love their father as any other child would, but their ways of communication
are not the same and are different from a common father child relationship. Both authors use rhetorical
devices as a framework for differentiating their relationships with their fathers by characterizing them.
In both stories Arm Wrestling with My Father, and Shooting Dad, the authors use different rhetorical
strategies that allow them to exemplify their actual feelings of how they relate to their father s. They
also employ similar rhetorical devices yet are used differently. Ours had always been a physical
relationship, I suppose, one determined by athleticism and strength. Manning emphasizes how his
relationship with his father is very physical and nonverbal. Manning describes the differences in
perception of his father s arms, symbolizing the change in their relationship that was about to take
place. Whereas when Vowell states, if you were passing by the house where I grew up during my
teenage years and it happened to be before Election Day, you wouldn t have needed to come inside to
see that it was house divided, Vowell looks back on her childhood to explain that

The Importance Of Landfills
The population has grown immensely within the last hundred years. Along with population growth is
the increase of production and trash. In the later years, most people threw their trash wherever they
wanted until they realized that they were killing our environment. So we evolved to having legal
landfills. Unfortunately, landfills are changing surrounding areas and polluting our space. Landfills
has change the earth through landforms, contaminations, and economy. Citizens can change the way
that they collect and distribute trash in a few simple ways.
Landfills change the structure of earth by producing hills. An example of changing landscape through
landfills is Puente Hills. Puente Hills used to be the largest landfill not only in Los Angeles,
California, but also in the United States. Puente Hills grew over 500 feet in just a minimum of fifty
years (Anwar). Fortunately, that landfill officially stopped receiving any kind of waste products in
October of 2013 (Anwar). In order to make the shutdown official, the supervising engineer of the
facility ordered to put five feet of soil on top of the trash in the landfill without actually disposing any
of trash (Anwar). This changed Puente Hills into an even larger mountain than it was before. Most
activists agree with Author Edward Humes, that covering up the landfill with dirt means that the
citizens are not fully comprehending how much garbage they actually produced over the years, and
the damages that comes along with

Summary Of The Canterbury Tales And Miller s Tale
In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, there are 29 pilgrims making their way to Canterbury to see the
shrine to Thomas A Becket, who was martyred there. They are accompanied by Chaucer, the narrator,
and Harry Bailey, the host. The host proposes a storytelling contest to help pass the time. The Host is
the sole judge of the contest, and each story is judged on its entertainment and moral factors. The
winner will receive a free meal, paid for by all the other pilgrims upon their arrival back at the inn.
Each Pilgrim was to tell two stories on the way there, and two on the way back. The pilgrims stories
covered a large spectrum of subjects and morals along the way. The wide variety of the stories, in a
way, makes it easier for the judge to judge the stories, but also harder. A good example of two very
contrasting stories in the contest are the Miller s Tale and the Man at Law s Tale. The Man at Law s
Tale would have won the contest. Even though it is not in the same rhyme scheme, has a confusing
storyline and some evil characters, it is far more clean, moral, and appropriate than the adultery, lies,
and scandal of the Miller s Tale. Before The Miller s Tale, The Host encourages him not to go, because
he is too drunk, and will not be able to clearly tell a good story. He tells him, Now hold on, Robin,
dear old brother;/ We ll get some better man to tell another;/ You wait a bit. Let s have some common
sense. (21 23). The Miller responds to this angrily, saying God s soul,

The Journals Of Lewis And Clark

expedition that Lewis and Clark had been on was a trip to the Pacific or the west. The President at the
time was Thomas Jefferson and he wanted to explore and expand his country after receiving Louisiana
from the French. So Jefferson asked his personal secretary, whose name was Meriwether Lewis to go
on a journey along the Missouri River from St. Louis. Lewis. Meriwether Lewis was born on August
18, 1774 in the colony of Virginia and he was an explorer, soldier, and a public administrator. But
Lewis did not just agree to the expedition he wanted his best friend to come with him on the
expedition and his name was William Clark. William Clark was born on August 1, 1770 only four
years younger than Lewis and he was also from the colony of Virginia. He was explorer and a soldier
as well as Lewis but he was a Indian agent and a territorial governor. And when they decided to leave
on their journey they had about 40 members in their group including a man by the name York. York
was a slave that they brought along on the trip for the hard and manual labor that they had to do on the
expedition. Some of the many task the Lewis and Clark had to do on their expedition that Jefferson

Code Division Multiple Access
INTRODUCTION:
Code division multiple access (CDMA) is a technology which is used for radio communication
purpose. Multiple access technique is a broad area for communication purpose , CDMA is an example
of multiple access technology, through which several number of transmitter can send information in a
single communication channel. In case of CDMA a particular bandwidth can shared between several
number of users. To permit this technique to achieve without undue interference between users, spread
spectrum technology and a special coding scheme are used by CDMA. In modern era every people
want to use things which is smaller in size, can have more functionality and cost. This can only
possible if we can integrate more and more functionality into a single chip which helps achieve our
objective and demand. To achieve this human wanting the scientists have developed a new concept
that is nanotechnology. Nano implies 10^( 9) which is very small . After nano scale development, the
scientists of the semiconductor had faced many challenges. The greater challenge was how to combine
the Intellectual properties(IP) from various sources quickly and efficiently. These have been overcome
by introducing system on chip technology which is very grooming topic in modern technology.
System on chip mostly called as SOC is a best solution of combining a number on functionality into a

SIGNS AND MIRACLES PAPER
Liberty University, November 27th , 2011
Introduction
Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of His disciples that are not written in this book. But
these are written so that you may believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and by believing you
may have life in His name. John 20:30 31 (HCSB)
In the Gospel of John there are eight recorded sign miracles that Jesus Christ performed. This paper
will briefly describe each miracle and how it reveals the deity of Jesus Christ.
Turning of Water into Wine
The first miracle Jesus performed was changing water into wine. He and His disciples arrived at a
wedding celebration that was already in progress. Mary, the mother of Jesus, came to Him and ...

He knew these people were not following Him because of who He was, but because of the miracles
they had seen or heard He had performed. Nevertheless, Jesus saw their need for food. Jesus knew
how He would handle the situation, but before He told His disciples, Andrew brought a small boy and
his lunch to Jesus. Although Andrew s had little faith concerning what could be done with it, Jesus
used his small faith and turned that tiny lunch into a feast for all the people. He first prayed over the
meal, which showed His dependence upon the Father.[7] This miracle displayed Jesus power over
food and His willingness to use whatever we willingly offer.[8] Jesus tells the people I am the bread of
life; he who comes to me will certainly not hunger, and he who believes in me will certainly not thirst,
ever. (John 6:35) Jesus claim to be the bread of life further reveals His deity. As Morris says, The
bread symbolism is complex, but clearly Jesus is the supplier of our deepest needs. [9]
Jesus Walking on the Water
The next miracle recorded occurred later that same day. The disciples were waiting for Jesus, who had
withdrawn for prayer, before they set sail across the Sea of Galilee. He had not arrived by dark, so
they left without Him and set sail into a storm. Halfway through the journey, the sea was raging and
the disciples were afraid. Then Jesus came toward them, walking on the water, and calmed

Change in Government in Europe from Around 1400-1815
Government in Europe changed a lot from 1400 1815. Government changed from an organized system
sharing land called feudalism, to absolutism: governing from the divine right of kings to enlightened
absolutism all the way to the French Revolution. England had its own history and type of government
and didn t change exactly with the majority of Europe. In order to effectively trace the change in
Government in Europe from 1400 1800, going back a little bit is necessary. Feudalism developed
around the 8th century, but did not reach Europe really until the 10th century. It began to develop in
France, and then spread to Spain, Italy, and later Germany and Eastern Europe. It then extended
eastward into Slavic lands to the marches which were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By me princes rule and nobles even all the judges of the earth. Romans 13: 1 also helped support the
idea which states Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God:
the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisted the power resisted the ordinance
of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. Having a monarch rule by the
divine right enforced people to obey their government since religion was heavily enforced during
these periods of time. A great example of an absolute monarch that ruled by the divine right of kings
was Louis XIV of France. Louis s exact words were I am the state which represents his absolute
power. Louis s Absolutism was said to help with France s stability and peaceful state of affairs. Louis
XIV strongly believed in a centralized government. Because of the increase in human knowledge and
the protestant reformation, the idea of divine right of kings begins to lose more and more supporters.
The English revolution (also referred to as the English civil war) was to some extent, caused by the
bad relationship between Charles I and parliament. Charles I and his supporters wanted to lessen
pretty much abolish the power of parliament, where as parliament wanted just the opposite; to lessen
the power of the King and to strengthen the power of parliament. The two sides of the civil war were
the King s Cavaliers and the Puritans. The King s

Don T-Stop Believing Poem Meaning
Some will win / Some will lose / Some were born to sing the blues (Journey lines 24 26), and some
were born to be poets. In this case, it is Maggie Smith s Good Bones and Journey s Don t Stop
Believing that serve as great examples to that. All poetry, including songs, are artistic in one way or
another; short or long, rhyme or no rhyme, but they all have a meaning. They also all contain poetic
devices, which is what really makes them artistic. Journey s use of allusions, repetitions, and
metaphors is why Don t stop believing is more artistic and poetic than Maggie Smith s Good Bones .
These two pieces of art, Don t Stop Believing and Good Bones , share a very similar message which is

Repetition is a pretty basic poetry device that just repeated words or phrases to emphasize their
importance. Metaphors on the other hand are a thing that can make ideas go above and beyond.
According to Dr. Peter Fuda metaphors make big, complex things simple and are more familiar (Fuda
1). That is why they are so vital in making these two works good. Repetition especially in Good Bones
is used a lot for little parts of the poem that make them stand out, and show importance. Maggie Smith
repeats Life is short twice back to back (lines 1 2). Also at the end when she makes her biggest point
and repeats This place could be beautiful / right? You could make this place beautiful (Smith lines 16
17). She wants people to see that for the repetition of all the negative aspects of life, there is also the
good which is why she repeats this key phrase and the end of the poem. Journey s use of repetition is a
little different and broad in the fact that it is the chorus that repeats. Although it is a longer text it still
is an important part which is why they chose to use

All Quiet on the Western Front by Ericha Maria Remarque
I think it [war] is more of a kind of fever. No one in particular wants it, and then all at once there it is.
We didn t want the war, the others say the same thing and yet half the world is in it all the same. (206)
Erich Remarque describes how war is an odd sort of happening through Albert Kropp, one of the most
intelligent young men of Paul BĂ€umer s company. Remarque, himself a German World War 1 veteran,
uses the characters of Paul s company to channel his frustrations from his experiences during the war.
The vivid imagery used to describe bombardments and life at the front allows the reader to visualize
the reality of warfare. It s bloody, messy, and repulsive. Extreme detail aids Remarque in exposing the
atrocities of war, and its repercussions. All Quiet on the Western Front focuses on an anti war theme,
and how war itself has no purpose other than to be savage and wasteful.
Some aspects of the novel serve as symbol for important things Remarque would like the audience to
note. Kemmerich s boots are the most prominent example. The soft leather boots are passed down
from man to man after one dies, and it isn t thought of in depth. Kemmerich takes them from a
deceased airman, and after he dies, MĂŒller is the owner. Paul then inherits the boots from MĂŒller. The
footwear symbolises the nonchalance of war, and how one must remain practical. Paul realizes this as
he observes MĂŒller hound Kemmerich for his boots. Schoolmaster Kantorek, the old teacher of Paul,

The Psychological Impacts Of African Imperialism In Africa
The psychological impact of the introduction of European culture is reflected in the way Africans
illustrated themselves in stories while concurrently portraying the acuteness of the imperialism
situation. The concept of social Darwinism swept the 19th century world with the theory that some
peoples were naturally superior to others. Factors such as race, wealth, property, and so on were
supposedly directly correlated to superiority over others. This concept was concocted mainly to justify
the colonial takeover of lesser nations and to reinforce European supremacy. ( Social Darwinism ) An
example of this idea is Routledge s scorn toward Africans and their culture. This demeanor had a large
psychological impact on the colonized Africans. In Song of Lawino; A Lament, Ocol scorns his own
people by saying, Black People are Primitive. Ocol is completely convinced his race is backward,
imbecilic and corrupt. (Clark 41) Clearly, the psychological impact of European treatment towards
Africans altered the way Africans thought about themselves. If Lawino is seen as an example of
African pride before imperialism, surly Ocol demonstrates the effect of the mental coercion and
acceptance of European superiority that imperialism brought. To combat this idea of inferiority, many
African authors warned against the dangers of believing imperialists. Ghanaian James Aggrey wrote
The Parable of the Eagle in response to the change in perspective. The parable tells of a man who
convinced an

I danced on the lawn and I dreamt of having a life like Chloe does, said dance mom Christi Lukasiak

Gap Year Advantages
Gaining experience is essential which lead one to improve in daily life and professional life. A gap
year is a new phenomenon which is recently very popular among young people. In the past, people
would not be able to take a gap year, and they had to continue their study non stope in order to obtain
their desired degree. Having a gap in between their study would cause significant damage to a future
profession, but nowadays the tradition of studying straight forwards is abolished, and no one considers
a gap year as a problem. Many schools and colleagues offer the gap year to their student and
encourage them to take a year off of school. Martha Merrill said once It s reached the point where a lot
of us in admissions are talking about ways to get students to just kind of relax [between high school
and college]. A gap year can have many advantages such as, determination of future profession,
appreciation of higher education and accelerating maturity.
A gap year can be significantly help students to determine their future job. Having a dream job is
common among students who are ambitious and willing to work hard to gain what they deserve. But
reality and dream are far away of each other. The wrong perception of dream job can lead to a disaster.
A year is a sufficient time for a student to research on their dream job by talking with people who
work in that field or surfacing on the internet and gathering information. For instance, one of my

  • 2. Library Of Babel Analysis Fantasy and It s Effect On Us Prompt: Worlds of fantasy/ dreams/ imagination are incorporated by Borges in his fictions, explain how he does this and what effect it has? Borges is known as a famous author of magical realism, a genre that combines real situations and real life with fantasy. This undoubtedly has an influence in the way Borges incorporates worlds of fantasy/ dreams/ imagination into his works. Borges creates these worlds by transforming something of such simplicity into something more complex and meaningful. By using these devices, Borges is able to impact the readers by allowing them to imagine them and maybe even change their point of view on that simple thing or situation. In The Library of Babel, Borges talks about a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This creates an imagery that the reader in reality cannot relate to since with modern times, the existence of that library itself is unbelievable but can see and understand why the people reacted that way since a human mind tends to question everything so being able to find the answers to all those questions seems like a fantasy that every person wishes to live. In The Circular Ruins, a man goes to a jungle that leads to a temple that has been destroyed by a fire, and goes to sleep, so he can dream up a man. It works to a certain point but insomnia overtakes him and he can t continue his dream, so all his progress is lost. He then decides on another way in where he creates the man gradually. He dreamed an entire man a young man, but who did not sit up or talk, who was unable to open his eyes. Night after night, the man dreamt him asleep. This all seems like a fantasy, but dreaming in itself is something we can t really explain. Dreaming is also associated with things that otherwise would be Granados 3 impossible to achieve in real life, so the reader starts imagining how the man goes through the process and if that would be possible to be achieved since our dreams are already composed of versions of people that are either close to them or they have ... • 3. Weberian Bureaucracy Case Study First of all, I agree that the political structure and administrative arrangements in Hong Kong have contributed to the closest approximation of Weberian bureaucracy in contemporary world. When Hong Kong government gained sovereignty after the handover in 1997, it has adopted the bureaucracy model to solve the problems of its inefficiency post government during the colonial period. The bureaucracy was suggested by a German sociologist Max Weber, who claimed it as an ideal system for the efficiency of the organization and administration. Max Weber s bureaucracy consists of six specific characteristics: division of work, authority hierarchy, formal selection, formal rules and regulations, impersonality, and career orientation. Among these six ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the Victoria Harbor planning, Hong Kong government decided to coordinate with various non government actors and private sectors. This was because the Government believed harbor planning should not only limited to government s purview but should integrate the public s opinions towards the planning. However, the government was superior in decision making process and showed that it did not wanted publics to engage in policy making process. For example, most of policy making process was done autonomously by the government where the non government actors were absent; lack of communication channel between the government and non government sectors; and government only informed its decisions to non government sectors without consulting with them. Therefore, there were constant conflicts between the government, private sectors, and the group of civil society throughout the process. If there was a proper communications and co ordination, and if government allowed non government actors to engage in decision making process, the tension between the government and non government actors wouldn t be exist. Because even though their interests and aims are different they can reach an agreement throughout the direct and indirect communications. Therefore, with impersonality presents in the policy co ordination process, the power structure would not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It means regardless of what is asked or done, one is unable to control the need to act upon something. In other words, impulse can be described as an immediate action or reaction that is particularly evident in emotions. This is an important skill in today s environment which can indicate the adaptability of an individual in an external environment and potentially determine future success. For instance, if one is unable to control his/her impulse and bursts out of anger at every occasion; that person may not be emotionally fit to be successful because of the lack of self control on their impulses. SELF REGARD: It helps to assess both external capabilities and internal strength. It is an individual s ability to maintain a positive self view in terms of personality, self esteem, and individual regard to other people, but maintain respect and decency in society with morals and virtues. In the EQ report, the result indicates that I am self assured in my abilities to perform responsibilities in various settings. Of course, it is a correct evaluation because I usually think of the consequences of my actions upon others. I agree to anything with a full satisfactory level by seeing the positive side alone. In my point of view, positive thought beats negativity. Rather than dwelling on frustrations or things that cannot change, I will devise a plan of action and ask others for assistance and advise to resolve the problems. For example, I asked my brother s suggestion before selecting my course. He advised me to take an accounting course since it has lots of job vacancies in Canada and it gives me a different experience in this field. Even though it is totally different from my education background, I decided to do this course with full satisfaction by seeing the positive side. I am sure it gives me the prospect of a very good career. Protein and Leucine There are 20 specific amino acids that are utilized to build proteins utilized in tissue formation, cellular function, and growth (P. J. Atherton Smith, 2012; Fluck, 2012; Wu, 2009). Of these 20 there are essential (EAA) and non essential (NEAA) based amino acids, those unable to be synthesized and those able to be synthesized within the body respectively. Due to EAA s needing to be introduced via diet, any decreased consumption of these amino acids would impair the body s ability to properly translate any cellular proteins (Fluck, 2012). Any increase in plasma or myocellular amino acids above fasting levels promotes, while transient, an increase in protein synthesis, and reaches its peak roughly 2 hours following ingestion which allows for muscle to be receptive to the anabolic effects of protein (Pasiakos M., 2012). The ability for a protein to aid in muscle mass accretion is largely based on its profile of EAAs. Animal based proteins are considered complete proteins as they contain all EAAs, while plant based proteins lack certain EAAs making them incomplete. Discrimination can be in many forms race, gender, national origin, religion, disability, and even age. These many forms of discrimination would cause a division in our nation. Now the church has tried to find ways to mend this division that is created between people. In Paul s letters to the Ephesians he addresses this issue. With Peter s letter to the Ephesians he takes a look at the division between the Jews and then the Gentiles. In the biblical commentaries of the book of Ephesians done by Harold Hoehner and James Boice, they discus two ways that these verses are talked about. Hoehner and Bocie talk about how Paul is speaking in the past present and future tense of how the division in the church came to be, was destroyed and should never happen again. With Paul identifying the Jews as the circumcised and the Gentiles uncircumcised. This clarification according to Hoehner shows how the gentiles have no favor or privileges with God like the Jews. Since the Jews had been given Israel and privileges it is thought that they are better off than the Gentiles (Hoehner 2002). There are many cellular mechanisms involved with protein synthesis. Before the process of protein synthesis can be described, a person must know what proteins are made out of. There are four basic levels of protein organization. The first is primary structure, followed by secondary structure, then tertiary structure, and the last level is quaternary structure. Once someone understands the makeup of a protein, they can then begin to learn how elements can combine and go from genes to protein. These new formations are held together by hydrogen bonds. The third level is the tertiary structure. The tertiary structure of a protein is a contorted secondary structure being twisted and folded all out of shape to form a 3 d complex. The type of bonding that holds these formations together are weak interactions such as hydrophilic, hydrophobic, ionic, and hydrogen bonds. These bonds are individually weak, but collectively strong. The forth level, which completes a protein, is quaternary structure, which occurs when two or more tertiary structures are joined together by polypeptide bonds. The formation of a protein begins in the genes, which contain the basic building information for all parts of living organisms. There are four DNA nucleotides that make up genes: A, T, C, and G. A codon is any arrangement of three of these nucleotides. Each triplet of nucleotides codes for one amino acid. First transcription will begin in the nucleus where mRNA will transcribe the DNA template. During both transcription and translation, there are three steps. The first step in transcription is initiation where RNA polymerase separates a DNA strand and binds RNA nucleotides to the DNA. RNA nucleotides are the same as DNA ones except that U replaces the T. There is has always been a belief that to get along with someone you would have normal conversations, enjoy each other s company, or share a common interest. In the story they love their father as any other child would, but their ways of communication are not the same and are different from a common father child relationship. Both authors use rhetorical devices as a framework for differentiating their relationships with their fathers by characterizing them. In both stories Arm Wrestling with My Father, and Shooting Dad, the authors use different rhetorical strategies that allow them to exemplify their actual feelings of how they relate to their father s. They also employ similar rhetorical devices yet are used differently. Ours had always been a physical relationship, I suppose, one determined by athleticism and strength. Manning emphasizes how his relationship with his father is very physical and nonverbal. Manning describes the differences in perception of his father s arms, symbolizing the change in their relationship that was about to take place. Whereas when Vowell states, if you were passing by the house where I grew up during my teenage years and it happened to be before Election Day, you wouldn t have needed to come inside to see that it was house divided, Vowell looks back on her childhood to explain that ... • 30. The Importance Of Landfills The population has grown immensely within the last hundred years. Along with population growth is the increase of production and trash. In the later years, most people threw their trash wherever they wanted until they realized that they were killing our environment. So we evolved to having legal landfills. Unfortunately, landfills are changing surrounding areas and polluting our space. Landfills has change the earth through landforms, contaminations, and economy. Citizens can change the way that they collect and distribute trash in a few simple ways. Landfills change the structure of earth by producing hills. An example of changing landscape through landfills is Puente Hills. Puente Hills used to be the largest landfill not only in Los Angeles, California, but also in the United States. Puente Hills grew over 500 feet in just a minimum of fifty years (Anwar). Fortunately, that landfill officially stopped receiving any kind of waste products in October of 2013 (Anwar). In order to make the shutdown official, the supervising engineer of the facility ordered to put five feet of soil on top of the trash in the landfill without actually disposing any of trash (Anwar). This changed Puente Hills into an even larger mountain than it was before. Most activists agree with Author Edward Humes, that covering up the landfill with dirt means that the citizens are not fully comprehending how much garbage they actually produced over the years, and the damages that comes along with ... • 31. Summary Of The Canterbury Tales And Miller s Tale In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, there are 29 pilgrims making their way to Canterbury to see the shrine to Thomas A Becket, who was martyred there. They are accompanied by Chaucer, the narrator, and Harry Bailey, the host. The host proposes a storytelling contest to help pass the time. The Host is the sole judge of the contest, and each story is judged on its entertainment and moral factors. The winner will receive a free meal, paid for by all the other pilgrims upon their arrival back at the inn. Each Pilgrim was to tell two stories on the way there, and two on the way back. The pilgrims stories covered a large spectrum of subjects and morals along the way. The wide variety of the stories, in a way, makes it easier for the judge to judge the stories, but also harder. A good example of two very contrasting stories in the contest are the Miller s Tale and the Man at Law s Tale. The Man at Law s Tale would have won the contest. Even though it is not in the same rhyme scheme, has a confusing storyline and some evil characters, it is far more clean, moral, and appropriate than the adultery, lies, and scandal of the Miller s Tale. Before The Miller s Tale, The Host encourages him not to go, because he is too drunk, and will not be able to clearly tell a good story. He tells him, Now hold on, Robin, dear old brother;/ We ll get some better man to tell another;/ You wait a bit. Let s have some common sense. (21 23). The Journals Of Lewis And Clark The Journals of Lewis and Clark Jeffrey Yamada Honors U.S History Mrs. Nylen 12/13/14 The expedition that Lewis and Clark had been on was a trip to the Pacific or the west. The President at the time was Thomas Jefferson and he wanted to explore and expand his country after receiving Louisiana from the French. So Jefferson asked his personal secretary, whose name was Meriwether Lewis to go on a journey along the Missouri River from St. Louis. Lewis. Meriwether Lewis was born on August 18, 1774 in the colony of Virginia and he was an explorer, soldier, and a public administrator. But Lewis did not just agree to the expedition he wanted his best friend to come with him on the expedition and his name was William Clark. William Clark was born on August 1, 1770 only four years younger than Lewis and he was also from the colony of Virginia. He was explorer and a soldier as well as Lewis but he was a Indian agent and a territorial governor. And when they decided to leave on their journey they had about 40 members in their group including a man by the name York. York was a slave that they brought along on the trip for the hard and manual labor that they had to do on the expedition. • 33. Code Division Multiple Access INTRODUCTION: Code division multiple access (CDMA) is a technology which is used for radio communication purpose. Multiple access technique is a broad area for communication purpose , CDMA is an example of multiple access technology, through which several number of transmitter can send information in a single communication channel. In case of CDMA a particular bandwidth can shared between several number of users. To permit this technique to achieve without undue interference between users, spread spectrum technology and a special coding scheme are used by CDMA. In modern era every people want to use things which is smaller in size, can have more functionality and cost. This can only possible if we can integrate more and more functionality into a single chip which helps achieve our objective and demand. To achieve this human wanting the scientists have developed a new concept that is nanotechnology. Nano implies 10^( 9) which is very small . After nano scale development, the scientists of the semiconductor had faced many challenges. The greater challenge was how to combine the Intellectual properties(IP) from various sources quickly and efficiently. These have been overcome by introducing system on chip technology which is very grooming topic in modern technology. System on chip mostly called as SOC is a best solution of combining a number on functionality into a single chip. System on chip is called as bus architecture based technology. System on chip is ... Signs Miracles Paper SIGNS AND MIRACLES PAPER Liberty University, November 27th , 2011 Introduction Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of His disciples that are not written in this book. But these are written so that you may believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and by believing you may have life in His name. John 20:30 31 (HCSB) In the Gospel of John there are eight recorded sign miracles that Jesus Christ performed. This paper will briefly describe each miracle and how it reveals the deity of Jesus Christ. Turning of Water into Wine The first miracle Jesus performed was changing water into wine. He and His disciples arrived at a wedding celebration that was already in progress. Mary, the mother of Jesus, came to Him and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He knew these people were not following Him because of who He was, but because of the miracles they had seen or heard He had performed. Nevertheless, Jesus saw their need for food. Jesus knew how He would handle the situation, but before He told His disciples, Andrew brought a small boy and his lunch to Jesus. Although Andrew s had little faith concerning what could be done with it, Jesus used his small faith and turned that tiny lunch into a feast for all the people. He first prayed over the meal, which showed His dependence upon the Father.[7] This miracle displayed Jesus power over food and His willingness to use whatever we willingly offer.[8] Jesus tells the people I am the bread of life; he who comes to me will certainly not hunger, and he who believes in me will certainly not thirst, ever. (John 6:35) Jesus claim to be the bread of life further reveals His deity. As Morris says, The bread symbolism is complex, but clearly Jesus is the supplier of our deepest needs. [9] Jesus Walking on the Water The next miracle recorded occurred later that same day. The disciples were waiting for Jesus, who had withdrawn for prayer, before they set sail across the Sea of Galilee. He had not arrived by dark, so they left without Him and set sail into a storm. Halfway through the journey, the sea was raging and the disciples were afraid. Then Jesus came toward them, walking on the water, and calmed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Change in Government in Europe from Around 1400-1815 Government in Europe changed a lot from 1400 1815. Government changed from an organized system sharing land called feudalism, to absolutism: governing from the divine right of kings to enlightened absolutism all the way to the French Revolution. England had its own history and type of government and didn t change exactly with the majority of Europe. In order to effectively trace the change in Government in Europe from 1400 1800, going back a little bit is necessary. Feudalism developed around the 8th century, but did not reach Europe really until the 10th century. It began to develop in France, and then spread to Spain, Italy, and later Germany and Eastern Europe. It then extended eastward into Slavic lands to the marches which were ... Whosoever therefore resisted the power resisted the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. Having a monarch rule by the divine right enforced people to obey their government since religion was heavily enforced during these periods of time. A great example of an absolute monarch that ruled by the divine right of kings was Louis XIV of France. Louis s exact words were I am the state which represents his absolute power. Louis s Absolutism was said to help with France s stability and peaceful state of affairs. Louis XIV strongly believed in a centralized government. Because of the increase in human knowledge and the protestant reformation, the idea of divine right of kings begins to lose more and more supporters. The English revolution (also referred to as the English civil war) was to some extent, caused by the bad relationship between Charles I and parliament. Charles I and his supporters wanted to lessen pretty much abolish the power of parliament, where as parliament wanted just the opposite; to lessen the power of the King and to strengthen the power of parliament. In this case, it is Maggie Smith s Good Bones and Journey s Don t Stop Believing that serve as great examples to that. All poetry, including songs, are artistic in one way or another; short or long, rhyme or no rhyme, but they all have a meaning. They also all contain poetic devices, which is what really makes them artistic. Repetition is a pretty basic poetry device that just repeated words or phrases to emphasize their importance. Metaphors on the other hand are a thing that can make ideas go above and beyond. According to Dr. Peter Fuda metaphors make big, complex things simple and are more familiar (Fuda 1). That is why they are so vital in making these two works good. Repetition especially in Good Bones is used a lot for little parts of the poem that make them stand out, and show importance. Maggie Smith repeats Life is short twice back to back (lines 1 2). Also at the end when she makes her biggest point and repeats This place could be beautiful / right? You could make this place beautiful (Smith lines 16 17). She wants people to see that for the repetition of all the negative aspects of life, there is also the good which is why she repeats this key phrase and the end of the poem. Journey s use of repetition is a little different and broad in the fact that it is the chorus that repeats. • 37. All Quiet on the Western Front by Ericha Maria Remarque I think it [war] is more of a kind of fever. No one in particular wants it, and then all at once there it is. We didn t want the war, the others say the same thing and yet half the world is in it all the same. (206) Erich Remarque describes how war is an odd sort of happening through Albert Kropp, one of the most intelligent young men of Paul BĂ€umer s company. Remarque, himself a German World War 1 veteran, uses the characters of Paul s company to channel his frustrations from his experiences during the war. The vivid imagery used to describe bombardments and life at the front allows the reader to visualize the reality of warfare. It s bloody, messy, and repulsive. Extreme detail aids Remarque in exposing the atrocities of war, and its repercussions. All Quiet on the Western Front focuses on an anti war theme, and how war itself has no purpose other than to be savage and wasteful. Some aspects of the novel serve as symbol for important things Remarque would like the audience to note. Kemmerich s boots are the most prominent example. The soft leather boots are passed down from man to man after one dies, and it isn t thought of in depth. Kemmerich takes them from a deceased airman, and after he dies, MĂŒller is the owner. Paul then inherits the boots from MĂŒller. The footwear symbolises the nonchalance of war, and how one must remain practical. Paul realizes this as he observes MĂŒller hound Kemmerich for his boots. • 38. The Psychological Impacts Of African Imperialism In Africa The psychological impact of the introduction of European culture is reflected in the way Africans illustrated themselves in stories while concurrently portraying the acuteness of the imperialism situation. The concept of social Darwinism swept the 19th century world with the theory that some peoples were naturally superior to others. Factors such as race, wealth, property, and so on were supposedly directly correlated to superiority over others. This concept was concocted mainly to justify the colonial takeover of lesser nations and to reinforce European supremacy. ( Social Darwinism ) An example of this idea is Routledge s scorn toward Africans and their culture. This demeanor had a large psychological impact on the colonized Africans. In Song of Lawino; A Lament, Ocol scorns his own people by saying, Black People are Primitive. Ocol is completely convinced his race is backward, imbecilic and corrupt. (Clark 41) Clearly, the psychological impact of European treatment towards Africans altered the way Africans thought about themselves. If Lawino is seen as an example of African pride before imperialism, surly Ocol demonstrates the effect of the mental coercion and acceptance of European superiority that imperialism brought. To combat this idea of inferiority, many African authors warned against the dangers of believing imperialists. Ghanaian James Aggrey wrote The Parable of the Eagle in response to the change in perspective. The parable tells of a man who convinced an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A gap year is a new phenomenon which is recently very popular among young people. In the past, people would not be able to take a gap year, and they had to continue their study non stope in order to obtain their desired degree. Having a gap in between their study would cause significant damage to a future profession, but nowadays the tradition of studying straight forwards is abolished, and no one considers a gap year as a problem. Many schools and colleagues offer the gap year to their student and encourage them to take a year off of school. Martha Merrill said once It s reached the point where a lot of us in admissions are talking about ways to get students to just kind of relax [between high school and college].
