Emory University Application Essay Sample
Emory University attracts me most for its abundant research programs provided for the undergraduate
students. Personally, I like to do various kinds of research, including but not limiting to Mathematics.
In Grade 11, I led a research project in respect of the negative effect created by the abuse of laser
beam, which mainly focused on physics concepts. By doing a substantial amount of experiments and
gathering related information from the internet, I obtained much more knowledge outside the
classroom. As a result, doing a research program is one of the goals that I want to achieve at
university. Regarding to the undergraduate research programs at Emory University, Research Partner
Program (RPP) is an institution which supports students who interest in working on a research project
with a faculty mentor. I find that one of the mathematics related research programs focuses on Algebra
and Number theory, which is my favorite topics among all math theories. I hope that I could
participate in this research program to train my analytical skills and presentation skills. Besides
research opportunities, honors programs are also prevalent throughout the ... Show more content on

Charge Of Mass Ratio Of The Electron
Charge to Mass Ratio of the Electron
Cait McCormick
28 November 2016
PHYSICS 1750 01A
Professor Hoogewerff
Objective:
The objective of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron.
Background/ Motivation: The purpose of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron.
The charge to mass ratio of the electron is measured by accelerating electrons through a uniform
magnetic field with a constant potential difference. The electron moves in the magnetic field and the
equation for force of this electron moving can be manipulated to find e/m .
Theory:
For this lab, the charge to mass ratio of an electron was calculated by shooting an electron into a
uniform magnetic field causing the electron to accelerate radially inwards. This causes the electron to
feel a centripetal force, which can be calculated using the equation below, eB= (mv^2)/r
The centripetal force should be equivalent to the magnetic force, shown in the equation below, F_B=q(
v ⃗ × B ⃗)
Using this equivalence as well as the conservation of energy, it was possible to solve for the charge to
mass ratio. The magnetic force causes the electrons to move in a circular path which allows us to
model the force as a centripetal force. The electron beam speed, velocity, is created by the acceleration
voltage, Va, this is found by the following equation, eV_a= 1/2 mv^2
Setting both the centripetal force equation and speed equation equal to each other, we

The Importance Of Oppression In Social Work
Among an array of values from The Code of Ethics (TCE) of social work value 1 dictates that as
social workers we must respect the dignity of our clients and refrain from passing judgement onto
them (Canadian Association of Social Work, 2005, p.7). As a social worker, it is important to follow
this value as it prevents the distancing of the client from the worker as the client will have a better
chance of opening up to someone who does not instantly tell them what to do or reprimand them for
their actions or non action in their lives. Oppression relates to the TCE in that it says the social work
profession s main purpose is to raise their clients who are vulnerable, oppressed and/or living in
poverty (CASW, 2005, p.7). Taking this into account the purpose of the social work profession is for
social workers to ensure the liberation of these individuals from their ailments by empowering them to
increase their self determination. Therefore, in the context of heterosexism, social workers must
follow their guidelines, which as mentioned by Johnson promote social justice, cultural competence,
and the acceptance of diverse identities and personalities (Johnson, 2014, p. 748).
The oppression that the LGBT+ community faces even though is not as prevalent in the past century,
it is still a problem that many people experience. As shown by Woodford, Kulick, Sinco, Hong, (2014)
who observed the stress that microaggressions and discrimination from subtle heterosexism can cause
for LGBT+

Skills Used in Person Centred Counselling Essay
ABC Level 3 Certificate in counselling skills
Assignment 8 Definitions of Counselling skills
Unit 3, Criterion 1.3
The skills used in counselling, vary from model to model, here are definitions of the skills used in
person centred counselling, Attentiveness and rapport building
Being attentive means giving all of your physical attention to another person so that you are fully
present for them. This will help you to notice what the client is NOT saying, by noticing their body
language, and also their tone and pace of voice. The use of non verbal cues and the counsellor s own
body language conveys to the client that he is interested in what the client has to say. (Bolton 1979).
Managing silences from the client shows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It allows time for the client to collect their thoughts, and process what has happened in the session.
The counsellor should let the client be silent but still be attentive, but not try to rush the client or fill in
the gaps or silence, as this would be insensitive and could damage the counsellor client relationship.
The counsellor should track the client, if the silence is going on for a long time. Sometimes the client
gives a sign, like maybe looking directly at the counsellor, and catching his eye the counsellor could
encourage the client to try to continue by being gentle and accepting of what was said before the
silence. (Course handout 2013).
Empathic listening, Unconditional positive regard and Congruence
Empathic listening means entering the private perceptual world of another and becoming thoroughly
at home in it. It involves being sensitive, moment by moment, to the changing felt meanings which
flow in this person, to the fear or rage or tenderness or confusion or whatever that he or she is
experiencing. It means temporarily living in the other s life, moving about in it delicately without
making judgements (Rogers 1980 A Way of Being).
What this means is that the counsellor puts himself in the client s shoes and sees things through the
client s eyes, (his internal frame of reference). When a counsellor does this, he knows and feels what
the client is feeling as if he himself is feeling it, and so creates empathy and

The Movie Orange Is The New Black `` And What I Call A...
In its origin, the term antihero referred to the male star of a drama who remained likable despite moral
ambiguity (Rabinowitz). For an extended period of time, female antiheros simply did not exist. There
was no word for female characters who one was forced to like, regardless of their wolfly
characteristics. We simply love them because they are the star of the show. Piper Chapman is exactly
this: a character who one only likes because they are the central character in the story, when in reality,
they have very questionable morals and are most likely wolves. Alex Rabinowitz, leading figure in
entertainment news on social media, defines Piper as the most groundbreaking character on television
because of her journey to be what he calls an antihero and what I call a wolf. The two terms seem
virtually interchangeable, with the only difference being the audience s feelings towards the character.
Chapman is the main character of one of Netflix s greatest hit series, Orange Is The New Black . This
series, created and produced by Jenji Kohan, follows the lives of an entire prison full of women who
are serving their time in Litchfield Penitentiary, a minimum security women s prison located in upstate
New York. All of these women have their own stories and problems that the viewer follows
throughout the four current seasons. While watching the episodes, the viewer truly grows to love

Summary of the Book Hunger of Memory and Response to It.
Public or Private: Why not both? There exists in the majority of people a schism between their public
lives and their private lives. People should desire to have their public selves match their private selves
as closely as possible. A rift between the two causes nothing but pain and suffering for everyone
around those people and places a heavy burden on the spirit of the ones responsible. Trust and honesty
are essential to our society and the truth should be complimentary, not earned. Richard Rodriguez, a
writer and public speaker, expertly illustrates his own experience with this type of double life in his
autobiography, Hunger of Memory. In the last section of Hunger of Memory Mr. Secrets , Rodriguez
paints an intimate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later, Rodriguez s mother asks what Psychiatry is. His answer involves Freud, analysis, and clinically
trained listeners to which she replies, You mean that people tell a psychiatrist about their personal
lives? (183). Would that be so bad? The key to being completely open and honest is to not have any
regrets. Since the past can not be undone, no good can come from regret, people need only to learn
from it and move on. If nothing is regretted then no secrets are necessary and honesty comes naturally.
This simple idea, commonly practiced, can literally change the world. Rodriguez goes on to say, There
are things so deeply personal that they can be revealed only to strangers (185). Why is that? Why is it
often easier to speak of personal things with complete strangers? Perhaps Rodriguez believes that
strangers do not know him well enough to judge him, and should a judgment come regardless, he does
not know them well enough to care. That seems likely. However, this implies that he believes those
close to him will judge him and that he is self conscious enough to care. Is it any wonder that
Rodriguez has adopted the same insecure and secretive attitude of his mother? Thus, the cycle
continues. If Rodriguez would only let go of his regrets, he could get over his perceived loss and draw
his family and friends a closer than they have ever been before. In Hunger of Memory, the chapter

Lying In Huck Finn
In the movie Huckleberry Finn lying plays a big role in the plot. I personally do not like lying at all
and believe it will only get you further into trouble, but this story does an excellent job of proving me
wrong. There are plenty of times where Huck easily produces a name and why he is where he is. He
effortlessly comes up with elaborate back stories and takes away any suspicion from himself. I d like
to say that there are no benefits to lying, but it definitely helps Huck escape some sticky situations.
The three areas that I will focus on are superstitions, which are lies in of themselves, Huckleberry
dresses as a girl, and the Duke and the King join Huck and Jim on the raft.
A big part of the movie Huckleberry Finn is superstition. The definition of superstition is a widely
held but unjustified belief in supernatural causation leading to certain consequences of an action or
event. In other words, a lie that you are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

like to addressed as Duke or Lord . The other man sees what is happening and joins in on the royal
treatment by saying that he too has had some bad luck and is actually the King of France. This leads to
Huck and Jim being treated as servants and having a terrible time on the raft. If the Duke and the King

2. Change the equipment and training. When people start discussing fixes for football, the talk
inevitably begins with helmets: Is there a design that is more likely to prevent concussions? There
have been some impressive innovations. The Riddell Revolution Speed embeds sensors that can
record the impact of collisions. Another company, Xenith, markets a model with shock absorbers
within the helmet. These devices, shaped like hockey pucks, are supposed to soften the impact of
blows to the head. The company said it surveyed 540 players using the helmet and found reports of
only three concussions.
3. Change youth football. Chris Nowinski is a former Harvard defensive tackle whose pro wrestling
career he didn t want to sit in a cubicle was derailed by concussions. He has since emerged as one of
the country s most prominent advocates for football reform and has written a book, Head Games:
Football s Concussion Crisis. To illustrate his points, he pulls up a YouTube clip titled Big Football
Hit Helmet to Helmet. In a drill supervised by the coaches, two 8 year olds charge toward each other,
heads down, as a woman yells, Go! Go! The tiny helmets collide pop! After one kid gets knocked
back to the ground, you can hear his whimpers. Who the hell is teaching this? asks Nowinski.

Critical Analysis Of Higuchi Ichiyo s The Thirteenth Night
The shift in ideals of femininity is what accounts for Oseki s plight in The Thirteenth Night. Her story
indicates that her son (Taro) s birth was what led to Isamu s sudden transformation. His abusive
behavior centers on her being a woman without education (Higuchi and Tanaka, 1960, p.382). The fact
that he mocks Oseki for being too stupid to confide in , and that he is keeping [her] in his house
merely as wet nurse for Taro is significant Oseki s lack of education is perceived to have rendered her
completely incapable of performing the roles of wife and mother as defined by Meiji society (Higuchi
and Tanaka, 1960, p.383). This is in spite of how she was brought up in a time when education for
girls was not considered necessary, and that Isamu had been informed of her background when he
courted her. Speculated to have climbed the social ladder through academic achievements, Isamu is
the quintessential self made man , an established literary type and embodiment of modernity ... Show

Not only was Oseki s experience telling of the constructed nature of feminine ideals and gender roles,
it also served to highlight the objectification and commodification of women within male dominated
networks of expectations and ideologies. While Higuchi herself was not pushing for any feminist aims
explicitly, the end result of eliciting the reader s critique of the Meiji Japanese society makes The
Thirteenth Night a crucial work in reflecting the gender issues then. Higuchi s use of Classical
Japanese in her writing could also be seen as a deliberate attempt to carve out a uniquely feminine
sphere within the male literary sphere and challenge male hegemonic writing practices. As such, the
Classical Japanese that Higuchi employs in her writing can be interpreted as a feminine language as

Joan of Arc, nicknamed The Maid of Orléans , is viewed as a courageous woman of France for her
part amid the Lancastrian period of the Hundred Years War, and was consecrated as a Roman Catholic
Saint. While Joan of Arc is a major medieval religious figure she was clearly a huge advocate of
violent bloodshed and she used religion to justify it. When Joan made her case to help France win the
Hundred s years war she claimed that she was sent by God to assist England in the war, The King
should not turn away from, or reject, the Pucelle, who says she has been sent by God (The Life of Joan

and that it was her duty to help assist her country in war. After convincing King Charles to help him in
the Hundreds year war he sends her to the siege of Orleans as part of a relief mission. Joan of Arc s

Leadership Between Public Health And Local Levels

Different eye movements were observed. During a certain stage of sleep a person s eye suddenly

muscles become paralyzed during this stage. Which prevent us from moving other areas of our body

A Hunger Artist Comparison Essay
A Hunger Artist, by Franz Kafka, and the graphic novel representation of A Hunger Artist, by R.
Crumb and David Zane Mairowitz are hugely different takes on the same story. In Kafka s original,
the reader is observing The hunger artist s art, which is fasting. In comparison, Crumb and Mairowitz

The lessons will include a few accommodations that include many visuals and graphics and the

activity rather than industry activity such as attendance. The term is derived from the acronym SABR,
which stands for the Society for American Baseball Research. It was coined by Bill James, who was

Additionally, under Beane s watch, Oakland players garnered numerous individual awards: Jason
Giambi and Miguel Tejada were named AL Most Value Players in 2000 and 2002, respectively; Barry
Zito was named an AL Cy Young Award winner in 2002; and Bobby Crosby and Huston Street earned
back to back AL Rookie of the Year awards in 2004 and 2005, respectively. Before Billy Beane s
fame, he played 5 years in the show as an outfielder. He inspired the 2003 book and 2011 film
Moneyball. Billy transformed baseball from a typical scout and projection recruitment style into a
statistical analysis of predicting how players might perform relative to their past statistical history. The
thing is, he used it with one of the lowest payrolls in the MLB. Major League baseball is a business
and the organization is going to save money wherever they can just like any other type of business.
This is the reason why Billy Beane and his sidekick Paul DePodesta are considered to be
mathematical geniuses throughout the baseball

Pluto Research Paper
NASA s New Horizons spacecraft has snapped the first ever color photograph of Pluto. The image,
shown below, may be a bit blurry, but you can expect more detailed images to emerge as the
spacecraft gets closer to the lonely planet on the edge of the Solar System. New Horizons also caught
Charon, a moon, in the photograph of Pluto.
New Horizons is expected to get closer to Pluto and grab detailed images that should be able to detect
differences in the planet s surface of a few miles apart. Right now, it s still some 70 million miles
away. The spacecraft was launched on January 19, 2006 with an Earth and solar escape trajectory

Ignorance Does Not Permit Judgment Essay
Ignorance is the act of being unaware. This is evident in Harper Lee s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird,
and also in the two articles, The Lynching of Emmett Till, by Chris Crowe, and Man Guilty of Murder
in Texas Dragging Death , by Rick Lyman. In To Kill a Mockingbird, there are many examples of
ignorance, such as Scout s ignorance, or the racist tendencies of Maycomb County residents. In the
Emmett Till article, there is evidence of ignorance in the way Till doesn t understand the southern way
of life , and the overall acquittal of his murder. In the Texas Dragging news report, the racist ways of
the murderer, John King, are considered a form of ignorance. Ignorance leads to to the unjust
judgment of others.
Harper Lee protray s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her own decisions cause her ignorance towards others. The most aggervating display of ignorance is
at the end of the Tom Robinson trial. Throughout the trial there has been such compelling evidence
that proves Mr. Robinson not guilty. Such as the fact that Mayella Ewell s face was more bruised on
the right side of her face, proving a left handed attacker, but Tom Robinson s left hand was crippled
when he was younger. But despite this evidence, Scout narrates, A jury never looks at a defendant it
had convicted, and when this jury came in, not one of them looked at Tom Robinson (Lee 211). The
jury proves to be ignorant of all evidence that proves Tom Robinson guilty, and purely bases his
verdict on the sole fact of his skin color. The jury is ignorant to racial equality, and places unjust
judgement on Tom Robinson, that ultimately cost him his life. The ignorance of Scout, Mayella Ewell,
and the jury was either the unjust judgement of others, or a blatant disregard for basic knowledge.
In The Lynching of Emmett Till , by Chris Crowe, an African American teenage boy, Emmett Till,
visits his family in rural Mississippi, from his urban life in Chicago. There, with a group of friends, he
is challenged to hit on a local white store clerk. But as Crowe writes, The boy s challenge stunned the
southern kids, because they knew the dangers of a black male talking to a white woman (Crowe, w).
Emmett Till, because he is from the north, is

The Origins Of Wine Predate
1 Introduction
The origins of wine predate written records and can be traced back through Antiquity, Medieval period
and Modern Eras where wine played an important part in agriculture and society.
It can be argued that examples of marketing existed during these evolutionary periods as specific
needs (for wine) were identified, created and consumed during royal ceremonies, banquets, for
medicinal purposes and social consumption. Wine held intrinsic value and was produced, distributed,
promoted and consumed by various social classes.
Today, wine continues to play an important role in society from both an economic and social
perspective. Wine was conceived to be a sophisticated product with the level of sophistication varying
based on the value proposition of the brand, market positioning and consumers socio economic status.
The focus of this marketing plan is the iconic Penfolds Grange which is arguably Australia s most
sophisticated domestic wine brand and how it can be strategically positioned to capture greater value
share in the highly competitive domestic and export luxury wine segments.
2. Situation Analysis
It is important to consider market interpretation as a vital component when creating marketing
strategy. Analysis of opportunities, threats and trends lead into solutions, resource allocation, product
placement and market positioning (White et al. 2003).
Consumers possess a requirement to consume. Latest statistics indicate short term growth in retail

Essay Filesharing
Filesharing is the act of sharing files over the internet with another person. This can be done directly
between two computers or by two computers connecting to a mediating server. These files can be
anything: music, videos, books, blueprints, or other documents, many different types of software and
programs including video games. Filesharing is also incredibly easy. Free software like bittorrent
makes it simple for anyone to fileshare. With the simplicity of filesharing and the huge amount of
information available for download it is easy to see how filesharing can be used illegally. Many files
that are available via P2P (peer to peer) networking are copyrighted material. For example a person
buys a new CD, puts it on his computer, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is why I believe that there are better ways of dealing with Illegal filesharing then is currently
used.
While I had a lot of personal experience with filesharing I still needed additional information on my
topic to back up my own experiences and opinions. I knew I needed more information on current
copyright laws and to learn more I went online to the copyright website where I found the penalties
for copyright infringement. While most cases of infringement aren t criminally prosecuted, infringers
are still subject to huge fines. The fines are even larger (up to $150,000) if the infringer is shown to
have knowingly and willfully infringed the copyrighted material, especially if he or she committed
copyright infringement for profit. Uploaders carry a higher risk of being found guilty of willful
infringement because they knew what they were doing.
I also went to the library to find print sources about online pirating and I found plenty if information.
Perhaps the most useful article I found was an article written by Lawrence Lessig, A Stanford
professor and author of Free Culture . In his article Lessig pointed out that the battle against online
piracy is hopeless the way it is currently being fought. He noted that prosecuting these so called
pirates has not led to an increase of profits for the artists nor a decrease in the amount if illegal
filesharing.(2) Lessig also wrote about a

children and young people, regardless of disabilities or background. Meeting their needs is an
important right which needs to be met, and children need to be seen be part of the community.

The Use Of Media And Media During The French Revolution
Media and propaganda have helped establish free societies, overthrow governments, and incite wars
throughout history. Revolutionaries utilized each to inspire and unite the populace during the French
Revolution. Persuasive newspapers and pamphlets featured opinion pieces that convinced commoners
of the drastic economic, social, and political changes needed to improve their quality of life, role in
society and potential for social advancement. Revolutionaries used art in museums and mass
distributed prints as propaganda to rally the masses with nationalistic themes of heroism, martyrdom
and the power of the people. Music and festivals also contributed by infusing the masses with passion
to unite against the monarchy and fight for the revolution. The use of media and propaganda in the
French Revolution systematically distributed revolutionary ideas to the people and drastically altered
the course of the movement.
The French Revolution officially began in 1789, but the monarchy made a series of disastrous earlier
decisions which created the perfect conditions for the movement to thrive and engulf the country in
chaos. King Louis XVI dedicated funds to assist the American colonists in their fight for
independence against the British. While the French succeeded in their goal, the war left France with a
depleted treasury. Peasants became dissatisfied with the government after a series of droughts and
poor harvests. Tensions were further inflamed by the high taxes the monarchy

Principle of Management
Introduction
My business club intends to hold a debate competition at the end of the month. I am been selected and
the title has given as, Managers today should use the democratic style of leadership rather than
automatic style.
Before I start this title, I decide to determine both of the style.
Democratic Style
Democratic style is a platform to create a team to participate in the decision making process. When an
enterprise is making decision, they usually use democratic style in many parts of the business.
Therefore, everyone has the opportunity to dedicate ideas to the decision. There are two types of
democratic decision making: 1) Persuasive Democratic Management
The leader will makes the decision first and then convinces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This management style is mainly exists in the enterprises.
As a business the main goal as a whole should be to gain a profit. Democratic leadership can produce
high quality and high quantity work for long periods of time. When using this management style, there
is one people making the decision and there is no confusion when during the conception. This also
leads to decisions being made more effective and more efficiency. Employees will love this
management style in business because they feel involved and a part of the process. Their performance
may be rather than in an authoritarian setting, while give them the power to do the work could lead to
some rely on other to bear the brunt of the work on the project. Also, it depending on what type of
work, employees may feel like the work is being pushed down on them because as a manager you don
t want to do it. Furthermore, when employees are making decisions, this can improve their sense of
worth, self esteem and motivates them to perform better. Decision making process may create
advantages such as diverse input, the establishment of emotional attachment with the extra effort of
employees. This style of leadership is ideal for a leader who hopes to make employees understand the
problem that may affect them, and who want the staffs involve in problem solving and decision
making.
Democratic leadership works well for leaders who have the ability of flexibility and adaptation.

My Father Who Has Influenced My Personality
A side from my sister, other person who also influenced my personality was my dad. According to my
mom, a couple of months after I was born my grandmother got involve in a serious car accident. After,
this episode my dad took the responsibility of her and my grandparent resumed into moving to Nvo.
Laredo from McAllen Tx. For my dad, his family has always been his first reason to look up to. Since,
then along with many other actions that my father has made to help others not only our family
increased my awareness to care about the ones in need. Although, I don t like to mention the good
actions I have made to help others, my mom has always tell me you are just like your dad and by that

After that episode, I became to be more to be more reserve with other people. Besides increasing my
awareness of my surroundings, I felt that isolation from society a better way to remain safe. One of the
greatest ways to learn from my mistakes and learn from my decisions was right after I graduated from
high school and started college. As it is known every decision taken will surely have a consequence.
My plans once in college were mainly about finishing every semester successfully, however, issues
will always happened while in the reach of a goal. Three years, ago I decided to start working because
I need a car in order to be able to take either morning or late afternoon classes since at that time we
used to have only one car, and we needed to coordinate our times so everyone can be on time.
Although, the fact of staring a job was not very exciting for my mom to hear, I ignored my mom
advices about how difficult is to manage is school and work by getting a full time on both. In some
way, I managed to handle both, however, as I was advancing in school the classes became to be harder
along with work responsibilities.
On fall of 2015, I failed one of my classes because I didn t put all the effort required to pass the course
since the previous month I got promoted from my job leaving at the side my school responsibilities.
After finding out my grade I became depressed since not only felt

Comparison Of Chris Kyle And American Sniper
The record shattering, 2,100 yard shot, was made by the legend, Chris Kyle. That shot is the length of
21 whole football fields, with that, everything you can imagine comes into play to prevent you from
killing a deadly enemy. In both the real event and the movie, Chris Kyle, a Navy Seal Sniper,
completed that unbelievable shot. Other than these two big differences, the movie and the real event
are very similar. The main two differences were added events to the movie and changed character
emotions towards events in the movie to emphasize the effects of war. Director Clint Eastwood used
the same characters in the movie, American Sniper, but the director added some events and changed

The director, Clint Eastwood, included the similarities for a couple of reasons why. The first was to
represent how most soldiers/veterans feel about the war. Eastwood wanted to show that most
soldiers/veterans are very humble about the war, but in Chris Kyle s case, he was not. The other reason
the director included the similarities and differences he did, was to emphasize the effects of the war of
soldiers and the people around them. By changing what he did, and keeping what he did the same,
between the movie and the real event, Clint Eastwood revealed what he believed to be true about war

Catholic School Research Paper
I ve always had a very vague understanding and relationship with Catholicism. Growing up, my
family never did anything to practice our faith. For example, the only time we would go to church
would be for family events like baptisms or funerals. I didn t think much of it and whether it was good
or bad that we didn t practice. I also never understood why my parents put my sister and I into catholic
school instead of public school. Whenever I asked, they would answer with We went to catholic
school so we want you guys to get the same education too. I would always wonder why I went to a
catholic school if my family never did anything to show our faith. Not trying to say that catholic
school was bad for me, but shouldn t kids who practice Catholicism a lot attend the schools.

The herald offers us Catholics knowledge on God s message because it wants us to live by that
message. The herald model in the church is represented by the Liturgy of the Word during Mass,
missionaries who preach the Gospel to people who haven t heard it before, any gathering in which
Christians read the word of God or pray, and more. The herald model encourages us to really
understand the true meaning of God s message. In order to help the herald in the Church grow and
develop more, the Church should take more action in what they say rather than just talking
metaphorically. The Church should be more explicit on how they approach the message that they teach
us. The herald model is the one of the reasons I am still a believer in the Church. When I was younger,

  • 2. Emory University Application Essay Sample Emory University attracts me most for its abundant research programs provided for the undergraduate students. Personally, I like to do various kinds of research, including but not limiting to Mathematics. In Grade 11, I led a research project in respect of the negative effect created by the abuse of laser beam, which mainly focused on physics concepts. By doing a substantial amount of experiments and gathering related information from the internet, I obtained much more knowledge outside the classroom. As a result, doing a research program is one of the goals that I want to achieve at university. Regarding to the undergraduate research programs at Emory University, Research Partner Program (RPP) is an institution which supports students who interest in working on a research project with a faculty mentor. I find that one of the mathematics related research programs focuses on Algebra and Number theory, which is my favorite topics among all math theories. I hope that I could participate in this research program to train my analytical skills and presentation skills. Besides research opportunities, honors programs are also prevalent throughout the ... • 3. Charge Of Mass Ratio Of The Electron Charge to Mass Ratio of the Electron Cait McCormick 28 November 2016 PHYSICS 1750 01A Professor Hoogewerff Objective: The objective of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron. Background/ Motivation: The purpose of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron. The charge to mass ratio of the electron is measured by accelerating electrons through a uniform magnetic field with a constant potential difference. The electron moves in the magnetic field and the equation for force of this electron moving can be manipulated to find e/m . Theory: For this lab, the charge to mass ratio of an electron was calculated by shooting an electron into a uniform magnetic field causing the electron to accelerate radially inwards. This causes the electron to feel a centripetal force, which can be calculated using the equation below, eB= (mv^2)/r The centripetal force should be equivalent to the magnetic force, shown in the equation below, F_B=q( v ⃗ × B ⃗) Using this equivalence as well as the conservation of energy, it was possible to solve for the charge to mass ratio. The magnetic force causes the electrons to move in a circular path which allows us to model the force as a centripetal force. The electron beam speed, velocity, is created by the acceleration voltage, Va, this is found by the following equation, eV_a= 1/2 mv^2 Setting both the centripetal force equation and speed equation equal to each other, we ... • 4. The Importance Of Oppression In Social Work Among an array of values from The Code of Ethics (TCE) of social work value 1 dictates that as social workers we must respect the dignity of our clients and refrain from passing judgement onto them (Canadian Association of Social Work, 2005, p.7). As a social worker, it is important to follow this value as it prevents the distancing of the client from the worker as the client will have a better chance of opening up to someone who does not instantly tell them what to do or reprimand them for their actions or non action in their lives. Oppression relates to the TCE in that it says the social work profession s main purpose is to raise their clients who are vulnerable, oppressed and/or living in poverty (CASW, 2005, p.7). Taking this into account the purpose of the social work profession is for social workers to ensure the liberation of these individuals from their ailments by empowering them to increase their self determination. Therefore, in the context of heterosexism, social workers must follow their guidelines, which as mentioned by Johnson promote social justice, cultural competence, and the acceptance of diverse identities and personalities (Johnson, 2014, p. 748). The oppression that the LGBT+ community faces even though is not as prevalent in the past century, it is still a problem that many people experience. As shown by Woodford, Kulick, Sinco, Hong, (2014) who observed the stress that microaggressions and discrimination from subtle heterosexism can cause for LGBT+ ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Skills Used in Person Centred Counselling Essay ABC Level 3 Certificate in counselling skills Assignment 8 Definitions of Counselling skills Unit 3, Criterion 1.3 The skills used in counselling, vary from model to model, here are definitions of the skills used in person centred counselling, Attentiveness and rapport building Being attentive means giving all of your physical attention to another person so that you are fully present for them. This will help you to notice what the client is NOT saying, by noticing their body language, and also their tone and pace of voice. The use of non verbal cues and the counsellor s own body language conveys to the client that he is interested in what the client has to say. (Bolton 1979). Managing silences from the client shows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It allows time for the client to collect their thoughts, and process what has happened in the session. The counsellor should let the client be silent but still be attentive, but not try to rush the client or fill in the gaps or silence, as this would be insensitive and could damage the counsellor client relationship. The counsellor should track the client, if the silence is going on for a long time. Sometimes the client gives a sign, like maybe looking directly at the counsellor, and catching his eye the counsellor could encourage the client to try to continue by being gentle and accepting of what was said before the silence. (Course handout 2013). Empathic listening, Unconditional positive regard and Congruence Empathic listening means entering the private perceptual world of another and becoming thoroughly at home in it. It involves being sensitive, moment by moment, to the changing felt meanings which flow in this person, to the fear or rage or tenderness or confusion or whatever that he or she is experiencing. It means temporarily living in the other s life, moving about in it delicately without making judgements (Rogers 1980 A Way of Being). What this means is that the counsellor puts himself in the client s shoes and sees things through the client s eyes, (his internal frame of reference). When a counsellor does this, he knows and feels what the client is feeling as if he himself is feeling it, and so creates empathy and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Movie Orange Is The New Black `` And What I Call A... In its origin, the term antihero referred to the male star of a drama who remained likable despite moral ambiguity (Rabinowitz). For an extended period of time, female antiheros simply did not exist. There was no word for female characters who one was forced to like, regardless of their wolfly characteristics. We simply love them because they are the star of the show. Piper Chapman is exactly this: a character who one only likes because they are the central character in the story, when in reality, they have very questionable morals and are most likely wolves. Alex Rabinowitz, leading figure in entertainment news on social media, defines Piper as the most groundbreaking character on television because of her journey to be what he calls an antihero and what I call a wolf. The two terms seem virtually interchangeable, with the only difference being the audience s feelings towards the character. Chapman is the main character of one of Netflix s greatest hit series, Orange Is The New Black . This series, created and produced by Jenji Kohan, follows the lives of an entire prison full of women who are serving their time in Litchfield Penitentiary, a minimum security women s prison located in upstate New York. • 9. Summary of the Book Hunger of Memory and Response to It. Public or Private: Why not both? There exists in the majority of people a schism between their public lives and their private lives. People should desire to have their public selves match their private selves as closely as possible. A rift between the two causes nothing but pain and suffering for everyone around those people and places a heavy burden on the spirit of the ones responsible. Trust and honesty are essential to our society and the truth should be complimentary, not earned. Richard Rodriguez, a writer and public speaker, expertly illustrates his own experience with this type of double life in his autobiography, Hunger of Memory. His answer involves Freud, analysis, and clinically trained listeners to which she replies, You mean that people tell a psychiatrist about their personal lives? (183). Would that be so bad? The key to being completely open and honest is to not have any regrets. Since the past can not be undone, no good can come from regret, people need only to learn from it and move on. If nothing is regretted then no secrets are necessary and honesty comes naturally. This simple idea, commonly practiced, can literally change the world. Rodriguez goes on to say, There are things so deeply personal that they can be revealed only to strangers (185). Why is that? Why is it often easier to speak of personal things with complete strangers? Perhaps Rodriguez believes that strangers do not know him well enough to judge him, and should a judgment come regardless, he does not know them well enough to care. That seems likely. However, this implies that he believes those close to him will judge him and that he is self conscious enough to care. Is it any wonder that Rodriguez has adopted the same insecure and secretive attitude of his mother? Thus, the cycle continues. If Rodriguez would only let go of his regrets, he could get over his perceived loss and draw his family and friends a closer than they have ever been before. In Hunger of Memory, the chapter ... • 10. Lying In Huck Finn In the movie Huckleberry Finn lying plays a big role in the plot. I personally do not like lying at all and believe it will only get you further into trouble, but this story does an excellent job of proving me wrong. There are plenty of times where Huck easily produces a name and why he is where he is. He effortlessly comes up with elaborate back stories and takes away any suspicion from himself. I d like to say that there are no benefits to lying, but it definitely helps Huck escape some sticky situations. The three areas that I will focus on are superstitions, which are lies in of themselves, Huckleberry dresses as a girl, and the Duke and the King join Huck and Jim on the raft. These devices, shaped like hockey pucks, are supposed to soften the impact of blows to the head. The company said it surveyed 540 players using the helmet and found reports of only three concussions. 3. Change youth football. • 12. Critical Analysis Of Higuchi Ichiyo s The Thirteenth Night The shift in ideals of femininity is what accounts for Oseki s plight in The Thirteenth Night. Her story indicates that her son (Taro) s birth was what led to Isamu s sudden transformation. His abusive behavior centers on her being a woman without education (Higuchi and Tanaka, 1960, p.382). The fact that he mocks Oseki for being too stupid to confide in , and that he is keeping [her] in his house merely as wet nurse for Taro is significant Oseki s lack of education is perceived to have rendered her completely incapable of performing the roles of wife and mother as defined by Meiji society (Higuchi and Tanaka, 1960, p.383). This is in spite of how she was brought up in a time when education for girls was not considered necessary, and that Isamu had been informed of her background when he courted her. • 24. The Origins Of Wine Predate 1 Introduction The origins of wine predate written records and can be traced back through Antiquity, Medieval period and Modern Eras where wine played an important part in agriculture and society. It can be argued that examples of marketing existed during these evolutionary periods as specific needs (for wine) were identified, created and consumed during royal ceremonies, banquets, for medicinal purposes and social consumption. Wine held intrinsic value and was produced, distributed, promoted and consumed by various social classes. Today, wine continues to play an important role in society from both an economic and social perspective. Wine was conceived to be a sophisticated product with the level of sophistication varying based on the value proposition of the brand, market positioning and consumers socio economic status. The focus of this marketing plan is the iconic Penfolds Grange which is arguably Australia s most sophisticated domestic wine brand and how it can be strategically positioned to capture greater value share in the highly competitive domestic and export luxury wine segments. 2.
