Confucius wisely said, “I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.” As trainers of systems, we recognize the importance of live training and hands-on practice in a classroom. However, as we’re moving into the virtual classroom to reduce expenses, we need a whole new skill set to engage learners. During this workshop, exchange practical ideas that you can use to engage learners by promoting “doing” and understanding in remote instruction. Explore some of the issues you may encounter, and learn possible solutions.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Planning for a successful webinar.
We need to consider our audience: the size of the audience, their potential connectivity issues

According to a 2009 survey conducted by Osterman Research, the optimal time for Webinar presentation is 60 minutes.
Within that 60 minutes, allow attendees about 15 minutes to log into the webinar, and allow 15-20 minutes for Question and Answers.

Less words more pictures – show picture and tell story…use photos, graphics, flow charts, stories, metaphors, and analogies…the human brain remembers images longer than words – full slide pic that fill the entire slide and tell short stories to illustrate content
When you list bullet points on a slide, the audience can’t read the bullets and listen to you at the same time because they’re reading the text first.
The brain remembers novelty, contrast, meaning, emotion (the brain ignores anything routine, repetitive, predicable, and just plain boring).
