How good is your presentation

Requisites of a good presentation
Why do we need guidelines?
We all know the impact of a good presentation,
however we end up ignoring the reason behind
the presentation - “TO SELL”; and instead just
dump content in each slide in a haphazard
manner, completely confusing the audience
We need to make it presentable, organized
and (not to be missed) interesting for the
audience to understand
Presentations are not boring, it is
up to us how we make them!
Each slide sells your point of view.
Make it count!
So, before you start:

PAUSE < THINK < WRITE < CREATE

Basic rules
Divide the presentation into 3 parts:
1. Introduction
2. Content
3. The end
Introduction
Get off to a good start,
engage the receiver,
keep them engrossed!

What defines ‘Introduction’?
It is very essential to kick start the presentation
correctly. Following are the points to keep in
mind:
1. It should cover the objective of making the
presentation
2. Set expectations right from the beginning
3. Should not have the summary of what will be
discussed later. Do not give away the
suspense!
Content

What defines ‘Content’?
Content is the key to a good presentation. It can
make or break proposals. Things to keep in mind:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.

Know your topic
Use correct Information
Be precise
Be creative
Highlight key points
It should be engaging
Know your topic
Make sure that you know your subject well so that
when you are giving the presentation you have full
command over the content

Correct information
Do not make your presentation on the basis of
assumptions. It is the biggest disaster ever!
Get your facts right!

Be precise
You get only few minutes to make an
impression, make it long lasting! No point beating
around the bush…come to the point

Be creative
Facts, data, long copy are boring. Get some life into
your presentation. It doesn’t matter how much
information your presentation has, what matters is how
you present your content

Highlight key points
If you have a point to make, then highlight it! These
are the points the audience will notice and will
remember at the end

It should be engaging
Your content should be interesting enough to keep
the audience busy every minute.

Make each presentation BIG!
How to make ‘Content’ interesting?
A good presentation is one that has complete
information and has a take-away for the
audience

It should be gripping! Points in the next few
slides can help!
Narrate a story
Treat your presentation as a thriller movie. Lots of
suspense, lots of drama and a happy ending in the
end!

Humor
It is very important to know your audience well before
venturing into this as humor may go wrong any time.
However, subtle humour can lighten up the entire
presentation

Pictures/ quotes
Use lots of images and quotes relevant to the
presentation to kill monotony

The end is the most important part as
new conversations begin from there!
The end
Give complete synopsis of the presentation
Reiterate all the major points
Leave a call to action, something that the
audience can ponder upon!
So, this is it?
Check again…
Template
Are you using your company’s template?

Font size and style
Are all the fonts (style and size) same across ?

Alignment
Make sure that the alignment is correct. Your audience is smart
enough to notice any difference

Limited text per slide
Don’t dump all information in one slide. Organize it!

Brief statements
Use short and concise statements for easy interpretation. Break
it up in points, if need be

Readability of text
Use large fonts but not too big!

i can’t read

This is so much better

Out of the box

I need to strain my eyes to read
Company logo
Check if the Company’s logo is on the first and last slides. That’s
your identity!

Spellings and grammar
Better late than error! Check twice for any mistake

Contrasting colors
Colors should not be either dull or too jarring, use dark
background and light text or vice-versa

Keep it clean!
Your presentation is not your scribble book! Keep it clean!

GREAT, YOU ARE READY TO MAKE A MARK NOW!
IT’S TIME TO CREATE!
