Evaluation
Research
Strengths-
• Existing products: Easy to understand, helps me understand what I want
my product to look like and different things I would like to be similar. Also
helped me find a style I liked. With my third example I specifically liked the
scratchy art style and adopted that into my product.
• Interviews: Helped me realise my audience is very particular with what
they like and aren’t keen on changing much, have a very similar taste all
around, favourite song, artist etc.
Weaknesses-
• Questionnaire: Was very closed, not very much diversity or difference in
the audience which limits what I can do since the audience was a specific
group.
Planning
Strengths-
• Mind map: Cleared up different ideas, helped me figure out what I did and
didn’t want to do, also helped me get a broader idea of the thing I did
want to do like genre, style, whether I would use lyrics or not etc.
• Mood board: Helped me visualise what I wanted certain aspects of my
product to look like and where I would draw inspiration from, also helped
me further on deciding which style I wanted to make and what I wanted to
base my own song on.
Weaknesses-
• Mind map: Took a while to narrow down what I wanted to do. Which
meant less time on production, could have started off with the ideas I
knew I wanted to do and then gone from there but decided to try and get
the boring ones out of the way before I moved on
Time Management
• I think I did well enough with time management
however if I spent less time on choosing what I wanted
to do I could have started production with extra time
and improved it massively, other than that I would say I
have finished most of my FMP at my own pace and am
happy with the quality of work I got done within the
time I had.
• With production I finished faster than I thought I would
since I didn’t have to learn anything new on Bandlabs
(the website I used to create my product) however I
could have probably finished it faster if I was more
decisive on what I wanted to do.
Technical Qualities
Since my final product differs so much from what I originally
planned to do I cannot really compare it to anything I used in
my research PowerPoint.
In my final product I used Automation to control the volume of
my tracks, I also did good on making sure the audio didn’t peak
at any point since that would have made the audio crackly and
I think that would have a negative effect on how I and others
view my own music.
Another thing I did was pay attention to how long my product
was, since most songs I listen to are around 2-3 minutes I
decided since I wants going to be using lyrics in my product I
would stick to a maximum of 2 and a half minutes, I ended up
making my product about 2 minutes long which I think is good,
since it doesn't have lyrics I think people would lose interest if
it went on for too long.
Aesthetic Qualities
I don’t think there is much I would improve on
this, I like how it turned out, I think one of its
strengths is that it stick to a colour scheme, and
while it does stray from that scheme at one point
it still works very well and doesn’t take away
from the whole aesthetic of the image.
Another thing I personally like about the product
is that it looks exactly how I planned for it to look
in my head, from the more scratchy look of the
mouth and eyes to the highlights around them, it
all fits in really well and I am very proud of the
results.
Lastly I really like the gradient that I used for the
whole thing, I think it blends really smoothly but
doesn’t change too drastically in ay one spot.
Audience Appeal
I think I appealed to my primary audience of 15+ males well enough that they
would enjoy the product I'm putting out because I used made my song a genre
similar to what is popular with that audience, for example a lot of 15+ males idolise
rappers like ’Juice WRLD’ AND ‘xxxtentacion’ who’s more popular songs were rap
songs with negative connotations or more serious meaning behind them.
I also appealed to my target audience by basing the song off of something
everyone can relate to at least a little bit, of course the song is from my own
personal perspective so it would naturally appeal more to younger males in the
audience from middle/working class families, who fit in with ‘Emulators’ or
‘Socially conscious B’.
I think people in the audience who belong to the ‘Socially conscious B’
psychographic would enjoy the song more as usually those people would be more
pessimistic which would mean they see things more negatively which is a lot of
what stress is, seeing things negatively can cause stress very easily cause
unnecessary stress.
Peer Feedback
Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the music/beat as it was relaxing but
changed enough so it wasn’t boring.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Vocals would have improved the product as the
beat would’ve complimented them well.
Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– Liked the bass and guitar and how well the rest of
the tracks fit together
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Could have added lyrics
Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– Liked the pace
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Could have kept the drums going through the first
‘slower part’
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– Could have added lyrics but I would have had to spend
a while on writing them and getting them right.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– The bass could have been less crackly through some of
the song but I would have had to lower everything to
accommodate for that so I decided against it.
Peer Feedback Summary
I would have found a way round fixing the crackly bass
without having to lower the volume of the rest of the
tracks.
I think I would have also spent a bit more time on the
general beat of the song and figuring out where lyrics
would fit and what they would be.
If I knew I wasn't going to be able to fit my lyrics into the
song at all I wouldn’t have used up any of my time on
writing any and would have had more time on the song.

Time Management • I think I did well enough with time management however if I spent less time on choosing what I wanted to do I could have started production with extra time and improved it massively, other than that I would say I have finished most of my FMP at my own pace and am happy with the quality of work I got done within the time I had. • With production I finished faster than I thought I would since I didn’t have to learn anything new on Bandlabs (the website I used to create my product) however I could have probably finished it faster if I was more decisive on what I wanted to do.
  • 6. Technical Qualities Since my final product differs so much from what I originally planned to do I cannot really compare it to anything I used in my research PowerPoint. In my final product I used Automation to control the volume of my tracks, I also did good on making sure the audio didn’t peak at any point since that would have made the audio crackly and I think that would have a negative effect on how I and others view my own music. Another thing I did was pay attention to how long my product was, since most songs I listen to are around 2-3 minutes I decided since I wants going to be using lyrics in my product I would stick to a maximum of 2 and a half minutes, I ended up making my product about 2 minutes long which I think is good, since it doesn't have lyrics I think people would lose interest if it went on for too long.
  • 7. Aesthetic Qualities I don’t think there is much I would improve on this, I like how it turned out, I think one of its strengths is that it stick to a colour scheme, and while it does stray from that scheme at one point it still works very well and doesn’t take away from the whole aesthetic of the image. Another thing I personally like about the product is that it looks exactly how I planned for it to look in my head, from the more scratchy look of the mouth and eyes to the highlights around them, it all fits in really well and I am very proud of the results. Lastly I really like the gradient that I used for the whole thing, I think it blends really smoothly but doesn’t change too drastically in ay one spot.
  • 8. Audience Appeal I think I appealed to my primary audience of 15+ males well enough that they would enjoy the product I'm putting out because I used made my song a genre similar to what is popular with that audience, for example a lot of 15+ males idolise rappers like ’Juice WRLD’ AND ‘xxxtentacion’ who’s more popular songs were rap songs with negative connotations or more serious meaning behind them. I also appealed to my target audience by basing the song off of something everyone can relate to at least a little bit, of course the song is from my own personal perspective so it would naturally appeal more to younger males in the audience from middle/working class families, who fit in with ‘Emulators’ or ‘Socially conscious B’. I think people in the audience who belong to the ‘Socially conscious B’ psychographic would enjoy the song more as usually those people would be more pessimistic which would mean they see things more negatively which is a lot of what stress is, seeing things negatively can cause stress very easily cause unnecessary stress.
  • 10. Feedback 1 • What did you like about the product? – I liked the music/beat as it was relaxing but changed enough so it wasn’t boring. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – Vocals would have improved the product as the beat would’ve complimented them well.
  • 11. Feedback 2 • What did you like about the product? – Liked the bass and guitar and how well the rest of the tracks fit together • What improvements could have been made to the product? – Could have added lyrics
  • 12. Feedback 3 • What did you like about the product? – Liked the pace • What improvements could have been made to the product? – Could have kept the drums going through the first ‘slower part’
  • 13. Peer Feedback Summary • What do you agree with from your peer feedback? – Could have added lyrics but I would have had to spend a while on writing them and getting them right. • What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? – The bass could have been less crackly through some of the song but I would have had to lower everything to accommodate for that so I decided against it.
  • 14. Peer Feedback Summary I would have found a way round fixing the crackly bass without having to lower the volume of the rest of the tracks. I think I would have also spent a bit more time on the general beat of the song and figuring out where lyrics would fit and what they would be. If I knew I wasn't going to be able to fit my lyrics into the song at all I wouldn’t have used up any of my time on writing any and would have had more time on the song.
