2. Racial Slurs In The New York Times
The New York Times refers to the event on Friday September 4th where two football players from
John Jay High School, attacked Robert Watts, the official for the game. Texas is known for their
crazed passion for football and it s sad that bad behavior has given it a bad name. The two students
have been suspended and could possibly face criminal charges. Along with the players, assistant coach
Mack Bree supposedly said that this guy needs to pay for cheating us and the two high schoolers did
something about it. Bree, as well as the two players involved, are suspended from football and the
school. After the incident, the two players made assertions that Watts used racial slurs. In solving the

3. Similarities And Differences Between Lee Lean Yew And Sukarno
IS Essay
Introduction
This essay seeks to compare and contrast the political and economic leadership styles adopted by Lee
Kuan Yew and Sukarno. PM Lee Kuan Yew was the first prime minister of Singapore and had turned
Singapore from a poor fishing village into a bustling first world country, with world renowned airports
and hotels, all through his clear vision as well as his economic policies during his governance from
1959 1990. On the other hand, Sukarno was the first president of Indonesia from the time period of
1945 1967. Sukarno was a prominent leader of Indonesia, who led Indonesia to its independence and
created stability within his home country, ending various rebellions which threatened her. This essay
will thus primarily focus on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nationalists waged an armed feud against the Netherlands with Japanese weapons in hand, who
had powerful financial reasons for recovering the East Indies and believed that most Indonesians
wanted them to return. Dutch forces made generous progress in Java and Sumatra, but there was fierce
judgement from the United Nations, and the United States encouraged a unanimous resolution for the
situation in Indonesia. A council of 120 delegates assembled at The Hague in August 1949, under the
chairmanship of the prime minister of the Netherlands, Willem Drees. The nationalist delegates were
skillfully led by Hatta. On November 2nd, after nearly a 2 and a half months of debating, the council
reached a ⅔ majority on a resolution which transferred Dutch supremacy to Indonesia, with Queen
Juliana of the Netherlands as titular head of a new Netherlands Indonesian Union. Sukarno was
recognized as Indonesian president and Hatta as prime minister. The sensitive question of Dutch New
Guinea (Irian Jaya) was put aside for later. The Dutch unleashed thousands of political prisoners
before independence was formally declared on December 27th. Finally attaining independence, a
population of 78 million, an island chain approaching 2 million square kilometres of land immediately

4. The stories of Decameron IV, 1 5 and Decameron V, 4 have...
The stories of Decameron IV, 1 5 and Decameron V, 4 have contrasting endings. The disparities of the
endings are due to the relationship between social classes and family acceptance. These significant
factors led to Decameron IV, 1 5 having a tragic ending. These two stories involved lovers being
separated by family members due to social rankings. In Decameron V, 4 the opposite occurred; the
father accepted the relationship because the family of the individual was distinguished in society.
Decameron IV, 1 consisted of the love story of Ghismunda, a young widow that found a lover, named
Guiscardo. Tancredi, the father of Ghismunda, discovers the relationship that his daughter is having

In contrast to these two stories ending tragically, Decameron V, 4 the love story of Caterina and
Ricciardo ends on a fortunate note. Caterina s father, Messer Lizio finds Caterina and Ricciardo naked
in bed; contrary to expectations Messer Lizio didn t become outraged as he by this and reacts with
composure. Messer Lizio tells his wife, Ricciardo is a noble and a rich young man; we have only to
gain from such a match. If he wishes to leave this house with my blessing, he will have to marry her
first; thus he shall have put his nightingale into his own cage and not into anybody else s! Caterina s
love affair with Ricciardo resulted in a marriage. This was due to Ricciardo having noble standards in
society and the family acceptance from Caterina s parents.
The parasitic relationship between love and death is common to the first two stories as we see social
ranking and family acceptance resulting in unsuccessful relationships. Society playing a

5. Choosing A Dating Service Is Choice Essay
The problem with choosing a dating service is choice too much of it! There are hundreds of services.
To choose a dating service that s right for you, you need to be clear about what exactly you re looking
for. As a newcomer to online dating, unfamiliar with all the options, you might be a little hazy on this
front. Here s a rundown of the main areas in which dating services differ which will help you draw up
a dating service wish list to compare sites to. Relationship options One of the most obvious things to
think about when choosing a dating service is what kind of relationship(s) you re looking for. Some
services, including top dating sites like Yahoo! Personals (singles dating) and eHarmony (soulmates)
focus on one type of relationship only. The advantage of choosing a dating service that s dedicated to a
particular type of relationship is that everyone will be on exactly the same page as you are in terms of
intentions. If you re not clear what your intentions are, you might be better choosing a dating service
where members can pursue different types of relationships within the same site. Again there s no
shortage of choice. However, at some multi relationship services it s not immediately clear who s
looking for what and up to you to figure it out, using the search tools. If this sounds like trouble (and it
can be), choose a service like Lavalife which has separate communities within the site for each type of
relationship. Members Think about the

7. The First Woman Out Of Three
Ever since Darwin proposed the hypothesis that man and apes have common ancestry, the study of
Primatology has been a main focus in the world of science. Wether or not the scientist were studying
the relationship between ape and human or studying the basic way of life of apes, the study of
Primatology has proven to be controversial and the subject of ridicule to its early pioneering scientists.
In the past century, technology severely limited the study of primatology which means the scientist
had to resort to gorilla tactics to study apes, and go into the jungle themselves. So, scientist like Jane
Goodall, Birute Galdikas, Eugene Dubois, and Raymond Dart endured much ridicule at the time for
their groundbreaking discoveries, but still paved the way for modern day anthropologists. Scientists
current understanding of apes and their relationship to humans would not be the same today had it not
been for the valiant efforts put forth by these firsts few.
Jane Goodall is the first woman out of three, known as the Trimates, to be sent by Louis Leakey, to
study primates in their natural habitat. During her expedition, Goodall studied chimpanzees. She was
the first person in history to ever to record the way chimpanzees act in their natural habitat. She
observed them eating animals they hunted, eating other monkeys, and using tools to acquire more
food. After, announcing her major discoveries Goodall was met with criticism by other researchers
because of her lack of using

8. U-Boat Tactics in World War II
In September of 2012, Germany s last surviving U Boat captain who helped sink dozens of U.S. and
British ships has been honoured by the modern military in his homeland seven decades after he was
twice decorated by Hitler for bravery. It may seem grim to honor a person who referred to American
shooting season as his hobby during the war, but it is important to recognize the contributions of U
Boat commanders like Reinhard Hardegen. German submarines had been an engineering vision since
1465, and preliminary German submarines were being manufactured as early as 1850 with Sebastian
Wilhelm Valentin Bauer s Brandtaucher design. The Brandtaucher was much improved upon during
the Industrial Age, which represented the peak of Kaiserdom in Germany. With its financial coffers
relatively full, the Kaiser was able to fund designs such as those by Vogel in 1870 and Howaldt in
1891. However, Gustav Zede designed the Forelle (named after the much beloved German trout fish)
and it was the first truly successful German submarine and was launched in 1903. From these early
submarines evolved one of the world s most evocative killing machines, the U Boats. Leading up to
the development of the U Boat were a series of military escalations, culminating in the start of the
Great War. Throughout modern German history, military technologies like the U Boat have been
integral to strategic planning. Even when decisions regarding U Boat development and deployment
seemed senseless, as it

dollars in just one night for the exhibition of the Eighth Wonder of the World. Thousands of New

against foreigners in early Hollywood travel films. Ann Kaplan comments on early travel films in

It is worthy to mention that Kong had not roared as loud as in this scene (not on stage at least) to
notice that the flash was what triggered Kong to act in a savage manner. It is then clear that the use of
technology enraged Kong because he felt estranged and threaten. The camera symbolizes how the

In The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven written by Sherman Alexie, he talks about his
struggle in society of being Indian. Alexie shows his struggle through his telling of personal
experiences in life. In his late night trip to 7 11, he has a strange encounter with the 7 11 employee
because the employee is suspicious of him just because he is Indian. I was hoping you weren t crazy,
you were scaring me, said the 7 11 employee. He proves his point by giving quotes of his
conversation, but even though Alexie was not being suspicious, he gets eyed down as if he was just
because of his race. Another way Alexie was racially abused was when he was driving around at night
because him and his girlfriend got in a fight. Well you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alexie wants to show how he is affected by racism in his time and how even though there have been
laws passed not to discriminate against people. Whenever police brutality is a main issue in today s
era, then that means that racism has not been resolved. Alexie is proving the issue and proving that it
has permanently scarred people to where they can t fall asleep knowing they will be okay in the
morning. Whereas the people that are causing this to people of colored decent, sleep as if nothing had
happened to them and they are not even realizing how much hurt they are causing other people. The
author approaches this writing with many ethical and emotional appeals. An ethical appeal Alexie uses
is using his race and getting racially profiled. Whenever Alexie gets told by the cop that he does not fit
the profile of the neighborhood, that is a way he uses an ethical appeal. An emotional appeal that
Alexie uses is whenever he says at the end, i know how they re going to end anyways, implying that
he has had awful experiences and cannot even sleep without being haunted by those experiences.
Alexie often repeats how he goes on walks or drives late at night. He says it helps him to blow off
steam after an argument and it relaxes him. But even something as harmless as a walk or drive, people
still find suspicion and get worried if that person does not fit the profile. To this day people are still

Over time, America has become the most overweight country in the world. The lifestyle of having
home cooked meals every night has changed into the lifestyle of having people drive to fast food

With many Americans realizing the obesity rate is increasing in both adults and children, many are
trying to act upon it. Whether it is through a New Year s resolution to lose weight, or The First Lady s
effort to change school lunches, more people are finally beginning to realize the difference between

23. Factors Causing Gender Inequity
The gender gap has been a concern for decades, it used to be that females lagged behind males when it
came to academic achievement. Females now outperform males academically and are more likely to
obtain college degrees and enroll in graduate school despite the gender inequalities that remain in
American society. The underachievement of females has diminished if not vanished due to the focus
of the United States for the past 30 years to close the gender achievement gap. Yet, the concern in the
most recent years has been both the lower performance of girls in mathematics and science and now
males underperformance in most academic areas (Del Rio Strasser, 2012). Why is it that despite that
females and males attend the same educational environment, males are having a hard time keeping up
and females continue to be less likely to take advanced math or science classes or enroll in science and
math related careers?
There are several factors that cause gender inequity and have caused the gender achievement gap to
grow. Factors such as society, culture, and students beliefs and attitudes about learning. As members
of a society we value certain rules, customs, and values and we learn to follow our society s rules,
customs and values. This is called socialization and part of this socialization includes gender roles. As
a society we have learned that males and females have different roles and we expect them to act

24. The Battle Of The Mountain Warfare
There is a nice sound to the phrase mountain warfare. It has a ring of daring; it sounds much cleaner
than trench warfare and lighter than tank warfare. The only thing that can match it is war in the air,
and that has become too deadly to be nice any more. It has also become too familiar, while war in the
mountains is still strange enough to sound romantic. Except, of course, to the men who have to fight
it. Walter Bernstein, Italy, January 1944 (1)
With a thud, the Allied attempt to sweep Hitler s feet out from underneath him crashed into the
fortified Apennine Mountains of Italy. The slow moving campaign in Italy had lost all its momentum,
hitting the brick wall that the Apennines were. Garrisoned peaks swarming with Nazi soldiers deterred
any attacks. The Americans were unable to pass these natural fortresses. A foot attack in the light of
day would be easily seen and mowed down by machine gun fire, an attack by armored vehicles would
be too loud and alert the Germans, and an attack under the shade of night would be impossible and
dangerous with foot soldiers or machinery. The Nazi troops would not fall to any conventional troops
or weapons. Something revolutionary, new, and different would need to be used to send the Germans
running. The United States Tenth Mountain Division, brand new and untested, would be the ones
called upon to complete this task. The Tenth Mountain soldiers, or more fondly, the ski troops, were
sent into Northern Italy. They, using

25. Mayor Of Casterbridge Narcissistic Characteristics
Renowned author and poet, Thomas Hardy, was born and raised in the English village of Dorset, a
town that s known for it s ability to remained relatively unchanged in both quality of life and
mentalities for hundreds of years. Hardy explores the characters in the town of Casterbridge in his
novel, The Mayor of Casterbridge, which is based on his own hometown of Dorset. Within this town
of Casterbridge, we follow, as Hardy puts it, A Story of a Man of Character. This supposed Man of
Character is Michael Henchard, who challenges the reader s perception of what it means to have
character. It also follows the characters of Elizabeth Jane, Henchard s daughter, and Donald Farfrae,
his co worker and later rival. During the course of the book, it ... Show more content on

This shows that Henchard felt a sense of entitlement to Elizabeth Jane, a clear quality of a narcissist.
Just like a child who has had a toy taken away from him, he becomes upset that something he views as
his, no longer belongs to him. This is revealed earlier on with his fixation of having her take his last
name, thus marking her as his. Just like a true narcissist this brings out a narcissistic rage in Henchard.
He quickly begins to criticize and rage at her for anything she does that reminds him of his former life.
For example, her occasional pretty and picturesque use of dialect words , which reveal her poor
upbringing, force Henchard to think of his own past when he too was poor (99). Though, quite
hypocritically, though he is uncultivated himself he becomes the bitterest critic the fair girl could
possibly have had of her own lapses (100). He is quick to rage and condemn Elizabeth Jane for her
inability to completely erase the tongue of her past, though ironically he can t erase his past either. Just
like how Elizabeth Jane s accent occasionally slips into her speech, similarly, Henchard s past
throughout the novel continues to slip into his new life. Needs more quotes: As the novel progresses,
his attempt to control Elizabeth Jane, and thus his past, begins to negatively affect the course of his
future. After Henchard s first wife, Susan, dies he sets his sight on marrying Lucetta, as they had

Cottle Taylor: Expanding the Oral Care Group in India
MEMORANDUM To: Brinda Patel, Director of Oral Care Marketing
From: Kunal Gulati and Gunjan Sharma, Assistant executives
Date: October 31, 2009
Subject: Report on feasibility of 25 30% growth in the toothbrush market
Ms. Patel,
We have attached our projection report.
As per our analysis, Mr. Lang s idea of increasing advertising budget by 3% of sales will increase the
unit sales by nearly 30% that will lead to $17.63m of profit from operations whereas, according to
original marketing plan would fetch $18.2m profit from operations .Therefore, original projections
will be more beneficial.
Also, Mr. Lang had predicted his estimates based on the success in Thailand, but the ... Show more

Brinda had a marketing plan which would bring about a 20% increase in sales but her manager has
advised her that the company could higher sales growth by investing more in advertisements.
Brinda Patel s manager Michael Lang had increased unit sales growth by 25% in Thailand by
investing around 3% of sales to advertisement. Langs s suggestion of opting the same strategy as that
in Thailand will not suffice the purpose in India because of the huge demographic difference between
the two countries.
Problem Statement
What is the feasibility of achieving a 25% to 30% growth in toothbrush business of Cottle India in
2010?
Options
Brinda patel basically has two options with her.
One was to go with her own option to stick to the original marketing plan and increase her sales by
20% or
Another option is to go by Lange s target of 20 25% growth in unit sales in the financial year by
increasing the budget of advertising.
Criteria for Evaluation
Financial analysis is one of the main criteria to evaluate the options present in the situation. In the
current scenario revenue generation and increasing the profit are the main things to be taken into
account. Since there are two criteria for evaluating the criteria we start with is the profit increasing
option.
Evaluation of options
Option 1: Brinda Patel should revise her marketing plan to achieve 30% unit sales growth
Lang projected a growth rate of the toothbrush sales by 16% for low end range, by 120%

If a car were to break through the fence it may result in a serious injury of death to the vehicle
occupants and/ or pedestrians, as well as significant property damage (Chubb, 2010) The insurer
recommended that a compliant barrier system be installed to bring it up to Australian and QBSA
standards.
TJA was approached by Ingal civil who manufactures the anti climb barrier system and asked if we
would take on the project, from that point TZM dealt with the client.
The anti climb barrier system is a Armco barrier with a integrated handrail and mesh fill built into the
system, which prevents a person from climbing over the barrier or stops a vehicle penetrating the
barrier, which is ideal for this situation.

30. Ethos And Logos In Advertising
There are 3 types of form of argument in creating advertisement, namely, ethos, pathos and logos.
Ethos is a form based on character or authority while pathos is based on emotions such as fear, desire,
sympathy and anger. Lastly, logos is something on logic, facts and figures. In advertisement industry,
ethos could be identified through the product which is endorsed by celebrity, someone in a uniform
and professional looking people. This is because ethos refers to the trustworthiness or credibility of
the people who advertise. When we see a puppy locked inside stuffy cage, beside an empty feed bowl
and staring at us, we probably feel sympathy for the poor puppy s situation. This is the way the
advertiser sells us dog food. They are successful to stimulate our pathos as Pathos means persuading
by appealing to the people s emotion. Logos is a concept that is opposite of pathos. It means
persuading by use of reasoning and logic. It is mostly in form of evidence, explanation, facts, ... Show

What is Gothic? Gothic writing stages the most profound feelings of dread and tensions in a culture. It
uncovered the mysterious and baffling, as well as goes too far between this world and the following,
the known and the obscure, the speakable and the unspeakable. While researching the American
Gothic from internet, I found out that different from European Gothic, American Gothic was more
likely related to countryside. Grant Wood is effectively one of America s most well known specialists
because of his notorious work American Gothic. Indeed, even today, while a few people may never

34. Gender Stereotypes In The Film Milk
True equality means holding everyone accountable in the same way, regardless of race, gender, faith,
ethnicity or political ideology. (Monica Crowley) Two ideas that have been discussed in this gender
unit were, one, we talked about how everyone has a different gender according to how they are. The
second idea was that people shouldn t be defined by their sex at birth, you should be defined by your
personality and how you express it. One main reason that Stephens should teach this unit next year is
because I feel like people, specifically boys, should be more open about their feelings, so it won t
build up and eventually burst open like a bubble. One of the sources we examined was The Mask You
Live In (Jennifer Newson). This documentary showed that boys have tendencies to hide their true
emotion because society marks boys as masculine , tough , and that crying shows signs of weakness.

Stephens should show the film Milk because some people may need to be inspired to fight for
something they believe in as well. One of the sources we examined was the film Milk (Gus Van Sant) .
This film showed how one gay man changed the way people lived in San Francisco. Harvey ran and
won for supervisor for San Francisco, although it did take him 4 tries to do it he didn t give up,
because of that it allowed many people of the gay community to come out per say. This ties into my
opinion because Harvey Milk was criticized for being gay, but that didn t stop him from achieving his
goal. People might be intimidated to do things of criticism. In conclusion, one of the main reasons that
Stephens should teach unit next year is because I feel like people need to be inspired to fight for what

member who was at the time or is battling NF. It felt great just even volunteering and being part of the
foundation because I was able to interact with families as they came in . I really build a connection

enough for volunteers to rotate hourly to perform different tasks. None of the tasks that I did were
hard in any way. I was able to be cashier for raffle tickets, guide families as they walk to support the
NF, and organize all of the gifts that were going to give out on the raffle tickets. It was quite
enjoyable. Everyone that volunteer there was very friendly and was very helpful. They even provided
us lunch and a fifteen minute break to volunteers. I really liked the way that they cared and were kind
