Working Title:
MMA Confrontation
Audience:
My audience is of around the ages 14+, as I believe this is when people may begin to develop an
interest in this type of sport, MMA, as this is around the age where it becomes less about the
violence, and more about the skills and techniques that are involved, and therefore they may want
to expand there knowledge, or just have fun through playing a game based on this. Also I believe
both genders will be aimed at while making the game, this is as both genders are interested in
MMA, as it is not a sport exclusive to one gender, I will also include both male and female
characters in the game. As well as this the social status I am aiming at will be all of ABC1C2DE as
there is no particular social status that is interested in MMA, as there are many performers in MMA
who come from very varied backgrounds, and the sport can cost nothing to do, if you go about it
the right way. The psychographic of my audience is belongers, as they feel more towards
communities, and MMA has a very community based fan base, as there are many different
communities within MMA, there are the overall fans, fans of certain companies, and also fans of
certain performers, this means belongers will be interested as they feel as if belonging to a
community is an important part of there interests, as well as this it may also attract emulators, as
they want to succeed at the game as it makes them feel like they have achieved.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Through the year I have used pixel art in order to make my advergame, so I believe I have
experience in using pixel art, my advergame was a version of pong, but Irn-Bru themed, using
branding to get different items in the game, as well as this though on Level 2 Media last year I
created a pixel art football game, and therefore I have more experience in pixel art, this will make
sure I know what I am doing when designing certain aspects of my game, such as backgrounds
and characters that I will be including in games, as I have designed things similar to this before.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept for my game is an MMA style fighting game, this will be produced in a way where it
seems like an official TV presentation of an MMA fight, such as a UFC or Belator event, due to this
I will be adding entrances and similar things that are included in a real life presentation of an MMA
event, I will be adding moves that are used in real life, this will make it seem more like the real
events. The game will differ from real events due to the graphics and designing I will do, as I will
have to make them through pixel art, I think this may make my game unique compared to the rest
of the games that reflect MMA in real life, as none of them use any pixel art, they are mostly photo
realism games, my characters will still be made to look recognisable, as there will be characters
from the real MMA world in the game that you can choose from, this will attract a large audience
due to the big popularity of the fighters I will include in the game.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate my work through screenshots of work during production, these will be annotated
and will show the process of how I was making the product, doing this at the time will make sure
that I remember every process that I used during the project, as well as knowing why I used each
thing and how it improves my work, as well as this there will be overall strengths and weaknesses,
which will make me know what to do differently if I were ever to do a similar project again, this will
be after the project is finished as this will be more of a reflection of the overall product, which will
include all aspects, such as the research and how I adapted my game in order to suit my
audience, from the information I got given to me due to the interviews.
