I have made a few products in the past that will help during this project, one example being the
fanzine project at the start of the year, as this means I have designed a magazine in the past, this
was also on the same subject that I am planning on creating a magazine in the final major project,
this will help as I have already written articles on this subject before and therefore know how to
write about this kind of subject, as well as the use of certain images and editing that fits well with
the theme of the sport, this being a more aggressive and underground style of product. As well as
this I have now done the branding for a company before due to the client project, where I designed
a logo and other products for a pub/restaurant.
Project Concept: 200 words approx.
My project will be to make a business model for a sports company, the main part of this will be the
magazine design I am planning on doing, which I have a few ideas for different subjects for the
magazine. The first one and main one being an MMA 2018 in review, as this is something I know a
lot about and could write a lot on, as well as there being a lot of content to work with, due to the
amount of events companies such as UFC, Belator and ONE Championships have put on over the
last year. Another idea for this could be a general sports review of the year, this would attract a
larger audience to the magazine but would also not demonstrate a strength in a certain area, due
to having to report on all sports to do this. Apart from the magazine I would also make
advertisements for the company as well as possibly designing a website, and all the branding,
such as a logo. The research I will need for this is to research people in this field of work, so firstly
graphic designers, and then sports journalists to see how they work and what gets the most
attention that they do, I will also need to research all the results from MMA in the past year to
brush up on my knowledge and make sure everything included in the magazine is correct.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed: 150 words approx.
The product will be evaluated through regular production reflections during the designing of the
product; this means it is easy to see the developments step-by-step through each part of my
production. This also means I will be able to go back and see everything that I did during the time
of production, for example if I want to make something similar in the future I can see how I made
this and what I did to get a specific part of the design. As well as this I plan on getting some peer
feedback during the production, this will help me get some other perspectives of what needs to be
done and what works well and doesn’t with my work, this is important as when you’re working on
something for a while you may not realise some of the specifics when it comes to little details.
