2. Week 1
• Day 1 – Monday:
– Today I have begun to create the logo for my client work, this logo needed to be created first
as it is going to be included on all the other parts of work that I do for the client. Today I have
decided the logo will be using a design of the building in a cartoonish way so today I started
this design, I pulled up a picture of the inn on the green and have tried to copy the design
layout of the outside of the pub in a cartoon way. I used shape tools as well as distorting and
using the perspective editing tools to make the shaping of the logo look as similar to the real
thing as possible. As well as this I put some certain features of the building on today, such as
the windows and doors, as well as other details of the front of the pub such as signs.
• Day 2 – Wednesday:
– Today I have finished off the logo design for the pub. To do this I added some features to the
previous design of the cartoonish look of the outside of the pub, this being some text and
some grass too to play on the words in the pubs name, Inn on the Green. The text I added was
also the name of the pub and I did this to make the logo complete, as well as adding the pub's
brewing companies logo to the pub's logo as this is on everything that the pub makes.
• Day 3 – Thursday:
– Today I began the design of the Christmas menu, to start this I began with the front and back
covers and tried to think of Christmas related designs for this, this being Christmas related
items, such as a Christmas tree and candy cane that I have used on the front cover, as well as
this I have put all the information of the pub on the back cover, such as the logo and the
address, phone number, etc. as well as adding a logo for me on this so that the design can
come back to me and get the name out there through this design.
3. Week 2
• Day 1:
– Today I have carried on with my Christmas menu designs, today I have been
sent the actual food menu and have finished the first page of the inside of the
menu, this being all the food choices for the Christmas dinner menu. This
included a table and different parts for each type of food, starters, mains and
desserts, as well as having colours that fit well into the scheme of the menu.
• Day 2:
– I have continued my Christmas menu design today, to do this I have completed
the second page of the inside of the menu, this being the form that customers
have to fill out in order to book there Christmas day meal at the Inn on the
Green, this including contact details, meal choices, etc.
• Day 3:
– Today I have begun production on the main menu design, I have now been
sent the main menu by the client and been told to just make the design look
professional and better than the simplistic design that they currently have in
place. To start this I found a good picture from the client and used this as a
background to start, I have started off the main menu part of the menu and
chosen a good font that I think works well with the design.
4. Week 3
• Day 1:
– Today I wasn’t in college due to not feeling well but at home I carried on with
my main menu design, I began this by finishing off the design for the front of
the menu, this being the actual full main menu, by putting in all of the menu
choices, I also finished the back of the menu which is the kids menu, light
bites and sides. I have also emailed the client the products to see if they want
anything changing or to give any feedback to me on the designs.
• Day 2:
– Today I received the feedback from the client back and they said that with the
Christmas menu I had made previously the printer they have had struggled
with the large amount of colours used so they would prefer this one to be less
colourful and more straight forward, so from there I changed my design of the
menu’s, this was to a more black and white design but still with slight colour in
the background on the image of the pub.
• Day 3:
– Today I have finished off changing my designs into a more basic colour
scheme, this meant changing all different layers into a simpler black and white
kind of form, still with slight colour in.
5. Week 4
• Day 1
– Today I wasn’t in college due to illness so didn’t get anything done
workwise.
• Day 2
– Today I have been working on my production screenshots PowerPoint,
to do this I take parts of my production in steps and explain what I
have been doing, I would screenshot during the production in parts
when major changes would happen to the design and this PowerPoint
is where all of this is explained, why I have done this as well as how.
• Day 3
– Today is the last day of production so I have been putting finishing
touches onto all products, going over them all and making sure
everything is up to scratch and how it should be looking. As well as this
I finished off the production screenshots PowerPoint detailing all of
the things I have made and how these have been done.
