This document provides style guidelines for fonts, colors, and layouts to be used in a video game. For fonts in game text and menus, pixelated fonts like Fixedsys, Courier, and Small Fonts are recommended. Bolder fonts would be used for titles and branding materials to catch the eye of a younger audience. The color scheme would change based on the team the player chooses in-game, using the actual team's colors. Example color schemes from real soccer teams like Liverpool, Barcelona, and Real Madrid are provided. Layout designs show what the in-game menus and gameplay might look like.
2. Style sheet - Fonts
Streets To Stadiums – Hobo Std
Streets To Stadiums – Bauhaus 93
Here are some fonts that I believe would
look good with my product, the pixelated
one’s, this being Fixedsys, Courier, Small
Fonts, and System, would be used as text
throughout the game, so for possible
instructions and menus, as well as in game
text such as score lines etc. The others
used could be used for title’s in the game,
as well as loading screens, as well as this
all of these fonts could be used for the
cover design of a game or an app logo, as
well as in any advertising material that is
produced for the game, as this will be an
important part in branding, as the fonts
may become instantly recognisable with
my brand. These would be relevant for my
target audience, as they are young people,
as they stand out and can be very bold,
which will catch the eye of a younger
audience.
3. Style Sheet - Fonts
These three fonts are going to be in the main body of my game, these will be
used to fill in things such as men’s and story developments as well as
important messages, this will suit my game as the design of the game is going
to feel very arcade-like and be pixel based, and these fonts fit that very well,
due to the main design of them being based on pixels. I think this will make all
of the game flow well together as everything is consistent with the theme of
the game, the menu’s and the gameplay will flow well together rather than
feeling like two complete different aspects if these fonts are used in the
menu’s.
4. Style Sheet – Colours and Colour Scheme’s
These are colours that could be used as colour schemes as they fit well together, they are
all the same shade of colour and therefore make the game flow well and fit together.
These colours would be used more fi you sign for a certain team, I have used examples
here of team’s colours, first there is Liverpool, red and white, then Barcelona, red and
blue, after that Real Madrid, white and blue, and Juventus/Newcastle, black and white.
These would be used on the home page of your career game and would change
depending on what team you are playing for at the time, so when you move team your
home page would change colour based on the new teams main colours.
5. Style Sheet – Colour’s and Colour Schemes 2
For this I am going to use “Adobe Color CC”, as you can upload an image to this site
and it then makes a colour scheme based on the image, this is good for my game as in
the previous slide I said the colour scheme should be relevant to the team you pay for,
this site will give me an easy colour scheme based off the teams colours.
This would appeal to my audience as it makes the game more relevant to you and
your in game status, as well as making every experience different for each player,
which also makes the game have more of a replay ability as it isn’t always the same
and has no possibility of getting boring due to the colour scheme.

8. Game Narrative
The narrative for my game is the life of a footballer, in the beginning it
is mostly about working your way up in football, the original story will
be that you have been signed by a large club, you will have a choice of
top clubs in your chosen area, then after getting no game time for the
first few months you get sent out on loan and have to impress in the
lower leagues. From here a lot of moral choices, things such as being
offered bribes, and match fixing for bets, will be made, as well as
personal life choices, such as where to go out and where to live, who
to be friends with, family choices, and choices in your love life, as well
as buying things such as clothing, houses, cars, and other material
items. This can effect your performance on the pitch, as well as your
perception in the media, the worse you are in the media the less
chance you have for signing for the top tier teams, and this can affect
your confidence, therefore your on pitch performances.
10. Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
Computer crashes. Save your work regularly.
Corrupted files. Keep backups of your work in different places.
Falling behind on work. Keeping to deadlines.
Sound not working. Rerecord the sounds, or record sounds many
times in the first place in order to have multiple
backups.
Any equipment used breaks, e.g. sound
recorder.
Make sure work is backed up, if not you'll have
to find other equipment and use it to get the
files again.
Use equipment wrong, such as not pressing
record on a sound recorder.
Double check when you start using equipment,
or do it again if you have used it wrong.
11. Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Headache. Regulated times on the computers.
Back problems. Sit properly on chair, and have breaks from
working.
Computer overheating. Don’t work on one computer for too long, keep
changing regularly.
Food spilled on a computer. Don’t keep food around a computer.
Drinks spilled on a computer. Don't keep drinks around a computer.
Being on the computer too long. Go for a rest and take breaks from the
computer.
Editor's Notes
Explore colours, fonts and image styles similar to what you want to produce. Discuss all three elements in relation to why you chose them and where you may use them in your project. Go over as many pages as you need to
