5 Paragraph Essay Outline Example
Crafting an essay on the topic of "5 Paragraph Essay Outline Example" may initially seem like a
straightforward task, given the specific nature of the subject. However, delving into the
intricacies of constructing a comprehensive and insightful piece can prove to be a challenging
endeavor.
To begin with, developing a well-structured outline that adheres to the traditional five-paragraph
essay format demands a keen understanding of the topic. It requires a thoughtful selection of key
points and the ability to arrange them logically within the introduction, body paragraphs, and
conclusion. Striking the right balance between conciseness and depth is crucial, as each
paragraph should contribute meaningfully to the overall coherence and flow of the essay.
Moreover, creating a compelling thesis statement that succinctly captures the essence of the essay
can be challenging. The thesis serves as the guiding beacon for the entire composition,
influencing the content and direction of each paragraph. Ensuring that the introduction not only
introduces the topic but also effectively hooks the reader's attention adds an additional layer of
complexity.
Moving on to the body paragraphs, each must present a unique idea or argument while
maintaining a cohesive connection to the thesis statement. Crafting smooth transitions between
paragraphs and providing sufficient evidence to support each point require a meticulous
approach to research and writing. Balancing the depth of analysis with clarity and readability
poses yet another hurdle in this process.
Finally, concluding the essay in a manner that effectively summarizes the main points, restates
the thesis, and leaves a lasting impression on the reader requires careful consideration. Avoiding
redundancy and introducing fresh insights in the conclusion adds to the overall challenge of
producing a well-rounded and impactful essay.
In conclusion, despite the apparent simplicity of the topic, writing an essay on the "5 Paragraph

Purpose Of Bail Bonds
The basic concept of what we know as bail bonds today evolved from way back in
the 13th century, where the primary purpose of bail bonds were to draw less
distinctions among the wealthy, the middle class and the poor. The key purpose
behind the bail system is that individuals who stand accused of a crime and meet the
right criteria can be released from their jail cell while waiting for their trial.
With bail bonds companies, a bondsman accepts a certain percentage of the bail
money needed, and in return, they will post the rest for the individual charged of
crime and awaiting their day in the court system. What has changed is that in the
past, only those who had enough funding or property could post their bond as
security and be released as the trial was pending. Eventually, business minded
individuals of the middle ages realized that because they had enough capital, they
could offer a form of security in the defendant s name, and they received a
percentage as insurance. When using a bail bondsmen, there are extra fees involves,
which is how these organizations earn a profit from their practice. ... Show more

price of a bond based on the crime that the person has been charged with. The

state to state. Posting bail bonds for people who financially have no funding to do it

Bird Imagery In Macbeth

Macbeth Analysis Macbeth, written in the early 1600 s by William Shakespeare,
is an epic play that follows the course of the twisted war general, Macbeth.
Throughout Macbeth, Shakespeare uses bird imagery to foreshadow events, better
describe characters, and also give a detailed setting. Birds such as the Eagle and
falcon are powerful icons, while birds of the night such as the crow and the owl
give off a more eerie sense as predators. Their presence in the story is critical for a
better understanding of the plot. Upon Macbeth s triumphant victory over the forces
of Macdonwald, King Duncan asks for a report on the battle. A sergeant, who seems

News of Duncan s murder quickly spreads around the castle, and servants blame
the death of the king on supernatural events that occur around the castle such as A
falcon, towering in her pride of place, was by a mousing owl hawk s at ant kill d .
This supernatural occurrence of an owl hunting a falcon, is parallel to Macbeth
killing King Duncan. The falcon represents an honorable person who was in his
pride of place or rather his throne, when it was stalked and killed by the malicious
owl. King Duncan was at peace in his throne and was the rightful heir to it, but due
to the evilness and greed in the hearts of both Sir Lady Macbeth he was killed. In this
instance, Duncan is the noble Falcon and Macbeth is the desirous
Fracking Industry Research Paper
One of the greatest concerns today is the damage that industries cause to the
environment. As the gas industries have grown in America, the concern that the
extraction of natural gas from the undergrown increase. With this mention, it is
normal than environmentalist tries to blame contamination to the fracking
industries. First, the shells protect the water for touching chemicals that are on the
field or the engineers use. Next, chemicals that are used in the drill are of daily use
to our life, as an example, sand, detergents, pool cleaners, and more. Lastly, the drill
does not cause any earthquake. Fracking has been going for several years, and there
has not been a single proof that this procedure cause any damage to the environment.
However,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each industry has their own mixture of chemicals that are added to the water for
the drill procedure. Nevertheless, all the mixtures are created by chemical
engineers, who are more than capable to create a mixture that will not damage the
environment. A new measurement has been introduced by U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin
and Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia and Barbara Boxer. The measurement stated
that all fracking chemical industries should inform of all location where they store
the chemicals every five years, in addition, they should inform of the location every
three years if there is any water facility closed by ( Toxic Chemical Regulations ).
This create a regulation of all the chemical industries to have a control of their use.
One of the most common mistakes people has are the amount and types of chemicals
that are used in the projects. Weeks let the readers know that, the data is available to
EPA staff with clearances (qtd in U.S Oil Dependance). All the chemicals are

the EPA will not approve a mixture that does not pass regulations. The misunderstood

continue in their country. Weeks explicitly stated that, In 2009 the agency published
Ram-Headed Gravestones at Aras Basin
RAM HEADED GRAVESTONES AT ARAS BASIN
As the fact of death is a consensus of all the humankind, cemeteries and grave culture
has existed throughout human history. Unlike the western culture, in Islamic
philosophy the perception of death is liberation and according to Mevlana (Rumi),
death is a Ећeb i Arus (wedding night) so this culture has been more advanced in
Turkish History. The most obvious display of it is that tombs and graves were built
in the form of spectacular architectural and artistic works.
That cemeteries take place inside or near the city centers show us that the perception
of death for Turkish people is a part of life.
Belief of afterlife has helped developing this culture.
Gravestones are silent witnesses of our history. Our historical graveyards are open air
museums and cultural heritages. The Turks always care to their gravestone tradition
in history. They put some signs on graves not to be lost.
Gravestones that can show differences according to features of the period and region
have emerged in almost every part of Anatolia since the beginning of the Turkish
history.
For the art history, Gravestones that light on the Turkish cultural history are important
assets because they are not only architectural stones, they also give us clues about the
life before death and have symbolic wishes about eternity on them.
Rich traditions and creations about ram and sheep in Anatolia and Azerbaijanhave

The South African Brimide And The Armenian Genocide
Prejudice acts, discrimination and institutionalized racism have long been apart of
everyday current day society. In a global perspective institutionalized racism is almost
non existent in the current year of 2017. Institutionalized racism is normally done
under the context that the majority ruling class, political party or race systemically
targets to hinder the minority class, political party or race. The systematic targeting
makes sure to enable that the majority are assured the power and wealth of that city,
nation or race. However it is also to be noted that there are instances in which there is
the minority who are the ruling majority instead of the majority class or race having
control. A prime example of this anomaly is the South African Apartheid in which the
minority white race ruled over the black majority. The South African Apartheid began
from 1948 and ended in 1991. The Apartheid made systematic laws that discriminated
against that majority colored population that not only targeted blacks but Indians and
mixed people as well. Another example of institutionalized racismis the Armenian
Genocide. The Armenian Genocide is considered to be one of the first major
exterminations of an entire race or population in modern history with an estimated
count of over 1.5 million Armenians being killed by the Ottoman Empire. Although
there is much dispute over the time the genocide began there is a general consensus
of the date April 24th 1915. The Armenians were the minority
Essay on Analysis of The Wrong Trousers
Analysis of The Wrong Trousers
The Wrong Trousers is a Clay Animation Production (where all characters are made
out of clay). Created by Nick Park (a famous Animator) in 1993, The Wrong
Trousers stars Wallace and Gromit in their second animated adventure (they were
first introduced to British Viewers in 1990 in another Nick Park production A Grand

Also I think that comedy can be found due to the naГЇvetГ© of Wallace, for example
his shock when he realises that his Penguin lodger is actually the Chicken that has
been robbing local banks, his disguise? A red rubber glove. In my opinion these
mixtures of comedy are funny without being offensive to any cultural or ethnical
groups. This means that both adults and children can enjoy The Wrong Trousers as
they can all take in something different from the film.
It is said that mans best friend is his Dog, and that leads me to a greatly influential
character in the Wallace and Gromit series, this of course being Gromit, the dog. I
believe that his personification has been cleverly done as it is not completely
conspicuous, by this I mean that whilst Gromit is granted Human qualities (such as
the ability to read), his lack of a voice means that we do not recognise him as a
human, therefore leaving him with his canine status. Therefore, essentially Gromit
is a human yet isn t, he drinks tea, reads newspapers and even has his own dog
specific library of books but then he doesn t possess a voice. I think that
The Flynn Effect And Nutrition

The Flynn Effect is the tendency of IQ scores to change over time, and specifically,
the apparent increase in intelligence in the general population evidenced by a steady
increase in IQ scores. It was first noticed by James Flynn (The Flynn Effect). As years
went by and IQ tests were restandardized, it was noticed that when previous tests
were taken the outcomes were better on the previous tests than the tests that were in
current circulation. The Flynn Effect has a number of factors that can attribute to the
effect taking place. One factor in particular that has been discussed by many different
people is the factor of overall better nutrition. Overall better nutrition has occurred in
many places over the last 100 years or so. This improvement has been linked to head
growth, earlier maturation of children, increased height, and faster growth
(Williams). Increased head growth most likely means that human brains are growing
which can subsequently be linked to the increased intelligence that is proven by IQ
scores. The earlier maturation and faster growth of children can also be linked to how
a population s intelligence improves over many years. The Flynn Effect and nutrition
are related through the correlation of increased intelligence and increased overall
nutrition. The effects of the Flynn effect on nutrition and vice versa are extensive. The
How Did The Crusades Affect Society Today
The Crusades were a series of wars that happened over the control of the Holy Lands
in
Jerusalem. This was a series of Holy wars that started in 1096 and lasted 200 years.
They fought these wars because both the Muslims and the Christians wanted it for
their control because they both saw it as a holy land for their religions. These bloody
wars impacted the society at that time and the effects of the Crusades can still be seen
in society today.
The Crusades impacted people of that time. First of all, Pope Urban the II was
telling the people that the Holy Lands that were being invaded by the Muslim Turks
and that they needed people to go fight. As a result, thousands of people went to fight
and not a lot came back. When people traveled to the ... Show more content on

Each group thought that
Jerusalem should be solely their own in order to bring closeness to their God. But in
fact the
Crusades caused each group to behave in ways that were against their own religion
anyway. A few people, like Marco Polo, looked past the desire for control of the
land and focused on the all the new places, people and knowledge to explore. This
brought about learning about things unknown and about developments that improved
the lives of people in other parts of the world.
It s not hard to image the results of a Crusade today because Holy Wars are still
being fought in many parts of the world. The Muslim and Jewish people are still
fighting a war over land in the Middle East. In 1947, the United Nations separated
land and gave some to the Jewish people and created the state of Israel. This was not
accepted well by either group of people. The
Jewish people say they have a right to the land based on history and their religion.
The Palestine people also say they have the right to the land on the basis of history,
religion and their ethnic claim. Fighting is still happening.
Another modern day religious war happened in Nigeria in the 2010 s between

Thoreau s ideals are inoperative in the real, everyday world, and because he will
not compromise his ideals, at all, they have no effect upon the world: they are
politically useless. (TAMU) Another Critic, Vernon Parrington, would praise
Thoreau as truly original and independent. In the 1930s, James MacKaye would
turn to the politics and denounce them, because he saw no cooperation and devoid
of reason. (TAMU) Starting, into the 1940 s there was plenty universal appeal, in
the aspect of usefulness (TAMU). In 1960 s Thoreau became not only relevant but
almost a popular icon. Emerson, another famous writer said He was bred to no
profession; he never went to church; he never voted; he refused to pay a tax to the
State; he ate no flesh; he drank no wine; he never knew the use of tobacco; and,
though a naturalist, he used neither trap nor gun. Meyers claimed that Thoreau was
violent and nonviolent which would seem to follow from the dichotomy of messages
in Resistance to Civil Government.

support my argument. Surprisingly, removing the passive voice in my paper also
made my essay more concise and clear. Additionally, this constant revising allowed

Comparison Of Cosmos And The Scientific Theory Of
Creation
A problem I have thought of for a long time and might want to solve one day is
how the bible and the scientific theory of the creation of the universe do not match
up. All I have really done is read over Genesis a couple of times and watched a few
documentaries like Cosmos, but I do have a basic theory worked out. First of all, the
bibleis not literal. There is probably someone who was known as Jesuswhich I
believe had great influence over the people back then. There might not be a God, but I
lean towards the idea that there is, and the universe was not made in 7 days, at least
not 7 earth days. To god, an earth day may be a couple of milliseconds. Cosmos
describes a calendar with all of time since the beginning of the universe stuffed into...

Finally, the age of mammals has arrived. Let the land produce living creatures
according to their kinds:the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground,
and the wild animals, each according to its kind. (Gen 1.24) The rest of the wild
animals we see today are created over time. This step describes how all the life
began to evolve and diversifying as God made each species unique. Then God
said, Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over
the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild
animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. We the humans
were made. There was not any lie either when it stated man will rule over livestock
and wild animals as that is what the people are doing today. In god s image I
believe just means that we have the power to change the world just like god. If it is
true then it would not be going against the chance that there are aliens on other
planets. The bible describes that on every planet with life, eventually one will rise up
to become the ruler of it all as humans have become for the earth. Expandable
Finally, the last day was about god resting. He rested and we did not see many of
his actions any longer. There might have been a few changes, but god does not do
the big things he did when the universe started any more. He only makes small
changes now, miracles every now and then. The only big thing might be the
description of Jesus coming down to earth as it does take up its own testament.
However as god rests, there is less evidence of his power in the universe, and
therefore, almost no one has truly seen

Defining Trust And The Measure Of Trust
Defining Trust (Paraphrased) (Source: Dissertation) Rousseau et al. (1998) and
Bhattacharya et al. (1998) have categorized definitions of trust by grouping them
into fields of psychology, sociology/socio psychology, organizational behavior and
marketing and shown that not many differences exist between them. Mayer et al.
(1995) defines trust as the willingness of a party to be vulnerable to the actions of
another party based on the expectation that the other will perform a particular
action important to the trustor, irrespective of the ability to monitor or control that
other party . Since it has been used and accepted by close to 700 authors, it is
considered the most suitable description for trust in this paper. Dimensions of
Trust and the Operationalization of the measure of trust (Paraphrased) (Source:

benevolence, and ability while others see it as a general belief that another party
can be trusted, also referred to a trusting intentions Gefen 2000; Hosmer 1995;
Moorman et al. 1992; Zucker 1986). Others (Doney and Cannon 1997) have both
merged the general and specific belief into one construct as well as split them,
claiming specific beliefs as antecedents to the general belief (Jarvenpaa and
Tractinsky 1999; Mayer and Davis 1999; Mayer et al. 1995) or trusting intentions
(McKnight et al. 1998). (Source: TAM

The Romanticism And Realism Of Alice In Wonderland
The Romanticism and Realism of Alice in wonderland I. Introduction Alice in
wonderland is a famous children s literature written by the English author Charles
Lutwidge Dodgson whose pseudonym is Lewis Carroll in 1865. The author is not
only a mathematician, a logician, but also an Anglican deacon and photographer.
In his early years, Charles was educated at home. At twelve he was sent away to a
small private school at nearby Richmond. But in 1845, young Dodgson moved on
to Rugby School. He left Rugby at the end of 1849 and went to Oxford in January
1851. In 1856 he published his first piece of work under the authorship of Lewis

Victory And Death In Beowulf

They waited till night came, with them all having their drink full, but the mighty

He was the greatest of them all though, he would fight that beast with just his hands,

Niedermeyer, and Presha Niedermeyer. They performed surveys using internal
auditors of public companies and external auditors from large and small firms. The
survey questioned how auditors made ethical decisions, and they also wanted to see
how internal auditors answered versus how external auditors answered. The result
of the surveys showed that there was no difference in decision making between
internal and external auditors in the aspect of how major the effects unethical
decisions on victims would be. The only difference between auditors in this study
was how they make decisions on what is right and what is wrong. It appears that
auditors that work for the Big Four have a stronger sense to determine what is right
or wrong as opposed to the other auditors working in large and small firms. The study
suggests that each firm adopts policies and special training to combat these

Yahoo Initial Public Offering (IPO)
Introduction
Yahoo Corporation is an internetcommunication and media company. It provides
network, every day, services to about two hundred and seventy four million people
around the globe. Being a pioneer in the Web navigation, Yahoo is the first choice of
many customers in the fields of advertisements, households and businesses. The
company headquarters are in Sunnyvale from where it spreads to Europe, Asia, Latin
America, Canada, USA and Australia. (Press, 1995)
In addition to the services provided by Yahoo Corporation, it has the advantage of
being free. The website is sponsored by advertisers who pay Yahoo for the
promotion of their products on the website. The advertisers are lured towards
Yahoo because of the wide customer base of 2.4 billion entertained by a network of
25 international sites in 13 different languages. This certainly gives Yahoo an edge
over its competitors. Moreover, the corporation also gives services of mail, chat and
news according to respective geographic areas. (Press, 1995)

Theodore Roosevelt s Contributions to American Political Thought
Throughout his tenure as a civil servant, Theodore Roosevelt perpetually involved
himself in matters of reform. Well read and well traveled, Roosevelt expressed his
wide array of political thought out of experience as well as an underlying desire to
see the United States establish itself as a world power under the ideals of a
democratic republicВ—a wolf amongst sheep on the world scene. The nation s
twenty sixth president laid the framework for foreign policy as we know it. He
pressed reform amongst big business, and rallied for the rights of the laborer.

Theodore Roosevelt placed great emphasis on the conservation of natural
resources and the protection of the environment. These were subjects which were
for the most part absent from the realm of politics. Roosevelt brought them to the
forefront of American politics; ever since, candidates for political office have
found it necessary (and sometimes greatly advantageous) to take a stance on
environmental issues. He proclaimed, I recognize the right and duty of this
generation to develop and use the natural resources of our land; but I do not
recognize the right to waste them, or to rob, by wasteful use, the generations that
come after us, (TR New Nationalism ). During his presidency, Roosevelt s
progressive yet conservative stance on environmental issues led to the addition of
more than 125 million acres to America s national forests. Teddy believed that
conservation was a great moral issue placing the lives and safety of future
generations at stake. Though environmental concerns are not presently at the top of
America s political agenda, the American public is charged with the task of
preserving our land and resources for the benefit of our descendents. Perhaps the
most crucial of Theodore Roosevelt s contributions to American political thought
originated once he had already left the presidency. While on an African safari in
1909, Roosevelt received a book from a friend entitled The Promise of American
Life, which became an extremely
Corruption In The Great Gatsby
Success, formerly signifying the accomplishment of an aim or purpose, however, it
has become poisoned by the narcissism of humankind which redefines it as the state
of being financially superior to others. In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great
Gatsby, the outlook on the American Dream during the 1920s was crafted through a
myriad of events and characters depicting this civil dilemma. By definition, the
American Dream is the belief that anyone, regardless of race, class, gender, or
nationality, can be successful in America (wealthy), if they exert the required effort
on their arduous journey. Having said that, the American Dream thus presents an
illusion of an American society that neglects issues such as: systemic racism,
misogyny, xenophobia, and income inequality. Furthermore, it also postulates a myth
of class equality, yet the reality could not be further from this. In the novel The Great
Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgeralddemonstrates how fantasies driven by materialistic
ideologies can lead to inevitable corruption and demoralization in society. Notably,
this is exhibited through the daily struggles of George and Myrtle Wilson, the
conspicuous bigotry of Tom and Daisy Buchanan as well as the ambition and passion
of Jay Gatsby.
Firstly, the characters George and Myrtle Wilson embody those who are pursuing
the American Dream and face the endless challenges of their harsh realities.
George owns an auto repair shop to collect profits while Myrtle pursues wealth and
status through her affair with Tom. With this in mind, it is evident that both are
disempowered due to the lack of money at their disposal. An example supporting
this is when Nick describes the region they live in: This is a valley of ashes...
which screens their obscure operations from your sight. (26). Instead of a bucolic
image of a regular farm, the beauty of the natural world has been transformed into a
horrible hellscape of gray ashes. Moreover, Nick describes the people living there
as ash gray men who swarm like insects, illustrating the grim lives of the lower
class labour workers who are barely surviving. Also, this displays how the rich are
disconnected from their source of wealth and are ignorant towards their privilege. The

Character Analysis Of The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a novel about Jay Gatsby told by Nick
Carraway, which lives in the Midwestern but lives on a Long Island but works in
Manhattan. Gatsby is an eccentric millionaire that has a huge mansion and throws
big house parties. He invites Nick to the party which was unusual since he was
considered a low class man. Later Nick finds out that Gatsby is in love with Daisy.
Tom is married to her Daisy but is cheating on her with Myrtle from another island.
Daisy was driving Gatsby s car and he accidentally ran over a woman, which was
Myrtle because she thought it was someone else. Gatsby takes the blame and his
mechanic came to his house and shot Gatsby and himself and then Daisy never told
the truth.
During this time they used these cars to show how wealthy and their status.
Gatsby got a yellow car to show how wealthy, he was and was trying to get daisy to
see him. It was a rich cream color, bright and there in it s monstrous length with
triumphant hat boxes and supper boxes and tool boxes, and terraced with a
labyrinth of wind shields that mirrored a dozen suns. (pg.33). It also displayed his
achievements of a wealthy status. It was mainly shown to attract his love of his
life to him. Another thing is that cars brought a lot of irony too at this time. Later
on, Myrtle was struck by the car because she believed that Tom was the driver and
he was the only way out of the Valley of Ashe s. However, her American Dream
which was to leave the Valley of Ashe s killed her.

Helping Phantom Limb Pain Essay
Helping Phantom Limb Pain
Over the years scientists have noted many complaints of a strange form of pain
called phantom limb pain. This pain is strange because it is located in an appendage
that no longer exists. By many of the amputees the pain is described as totally
unbearable. Phantom limb pain has even driven some victims crazy. For the amputee
population this is a very real problem that definitely needs to be solved.
After James Peacock had his right arm amputated last December, he expected some
difficulties. With those difficulties came pain so unbearableit could not be controlled

When a body part is lost the corresponding part of the brain is not able to handle the
loss and rewires its circuitry to make up for the signals it was no longer receiving
from the missing digit. The rewiring might occur in one of two ways. Perhaps nerve
impulses in the sensory cortex begin to course down previously untraveled pathways.
The second theory is that neighboring neurons in the cortex may actually invade the
territory left fallow because sensations are no longer received from the missing limb.
Birbaumer, Lutzenberger, Montoya, and Wolfgang (1997) examined the functional
relationship between cortical reorganization and phantom limb pain. Neuroelectric
source imaging was used to determine changes in cortical reorganization in the
somatosensory cortex after anesthesia of an amputation stump produced by brachial
plexus blockage in six phantom limb pain patients and four pain free amputees. This
cortical reorganization was studied to examine whether the neurons rewired after the
loss of an appendage. Three of the phantom limb subjects experienced a virtual
elimination of current phantom pain. The Biraumber et al., (1997) result of the
anesthesia was a very rapid elimination of cortical reorganization in the
somatosensory cortex. In three phantom limb pain amputees pain was not reduced by

The Maltese Front And The Novel Of The Maltese Falcon
The film of the Maltese Falcon and the novel of the Maltese Falcon share some
stark differences along with certain similarities that the film and novel hold. John
Huston who directed the film of the Maltese Falcon shows Sam Spade a little
differently as to how Dashiell Hammett portrays him. Both do share some
commonalities between them, yet we see a greater split from novel to film in the
final scene of the Maltese Falcon. The film portrays Spade as this stoic, cold
hearted detective. Yet, the novel displays Spade as a more dominate grabbing man
that needs answers now. The film differs from the novel as we see Spade portrayed
in the film as a cold and stoic character as we see him in the novel as a more
dominate and persistent character. As we progress through the final scene Sam Spade
briskly moves on to alert the authorities about having Cairo and Gutman on the
move. The novel shows Sam after putting the receiver down to appear nervous he
wet his lips and looked down at his hands. Their palms were wet. He filled his deep
chest with air. His eyes we glittering between straightened lids (p. 574). As to the
film when we see Spade hang up the phone he briskly approaches Brigid trying to
get as much information out of her as he can before the police arrive in the film at
1:28:52. As we see in the novel Hammett wanted to show Spade as being nervous
for what is about to happen and for how aggressive he will be in order to get all of
the information needed prior to the police arriving. Huston doesn t show any of
that, but goes straight into getting all of the information out of Brigid as soon as
possible. Leaving a major lack in character for the film Spade as compared to the
novel Spade. Next, we follow to see Spade grabs Brigid and says G d damn you,
talk! (p. 575) which shows Spade as a dominate and demanding individual. The
significance of him grabbing executes this notion of dominance and the meaning of
how important this is to Spade. In the film Spade at that moment wasn t as forceful to
get this information out of Brigid. Around 1:29:26 Spade was standing badgering
Brigid with question after question, in addition to asking rhetorical questions that
Spade already knew the answer for. Having Spade in the
Analysis Of Maus By Art Spiegelman
Have you ever thought of having a drastic change in your normal lifestyle, well the
graphic novel Maus written by Art Spiegelman, is a true story that follows the life of
a survivor of the Holocaust. The novel narrates the story of Vladek Spiegelman and
his family learning to cope with the transition of living under the Nazi influence. The
Spiegelman and the Zylberbergs now have to adapt to a life without luxury. Although
the Holocaustkilled a large number of Jews, Vladek was one of the few who survived
this tragedy. His knowledge, networking and multitasking ability had kept him and
his wife Anja alive during this horrible period of their lives. In the novel Vladek
showed how he used his knowledge to avoid any problematic circumstances with
the Kappo. He wisely built a relationship with the Kappo, gaining influence on the
concentration camp. Vladek s knowledge is evident in the concentration camp
when the Kappo asks Who knows English and Polish? Vladek raises his hand and
speaks English to the Kappo Yes, I gave private lessons of English when I lived
then in Czestochowa. His knowledge of english put him on a very good situation,
because he was able to teach the Kappo. He got more food, clothing, shoes, and
information of where to stand, so the S.S won t take him. (Spiegelman, 31 Vol.2) In
another occasion, Vladek was asked to fix a boot, he knew how to fix soles and
heels, but what the Gestapo requested, it needed a specialist. So going to work,

Shakespeare s Authorship
The argument of Shakespeare s authorship will always be argued and never settled.
Shakespeare went to school, but some believed that he did not stay in school long.
His education is one of the main topics for both sides of this argument. Shakespeare
s schooling may have helped some but not enough to create a new kind of literature
and produce some of the most famous pieces of literature in history to this day.
Although some believe Shakespeare went to school, his work is too complex and he
did not travel far enough to write all these great plays. Some believe that
Shakespeare adapted from older works and what he lacked in experience he could
have made up for in imagination (Farouky). Shakespeare would not have needed
much education

The Influence Of Abstract And Modern Art
Abstract and modern art have really changed the way society views and
appreciation for the amazing contributions and work created by artists. There are
so many styles and concepts which those artists have come up with over times
which are greatly reflected in their paintings and creations. In this essay we will be
going on a journey to find out the inspiration and the intended messages from three
paintings mentioned in the above topic. The Large Bathers, 1898 1905 is the largest
of Cezanne s pictures and because it is also the most formal in aspect, it has been
cited often as an example of his ideal of composition and his restoration if classical
monumentality after its lapse during the nineteenth century (www.PaulCezanne.org).
This painting was one of the most mind blowing yet interesting pieces during this era
because of its unfinished quality which caused quite a stir among writers, artists and
historians. The nude forms presented along with the river and triangular pattern in
which the trees were painted gives quite an interesting perspective to his work. The
composition of the painting did not reflect the ideal typical style from the
Renaissance pyramid. Instead it was created in another style where the central part is
empty, the apex is intercepted by the frame and the greatest compactness comes in
smaller pyramids for the largest figures. One can also notice from Cezanne s work
the way he thought about portrayed women. The abstract nude females present in

Eileen Fisher Case Study Essay

While reading through Eileen Fisher, Repositioning the Brand, it became apparent
early on that the company s main issue was relevancy an issue that many companies
face in today s market. Keeping the company current in order to attract new
customers while not abandoning already loyal customers in the process is a huge
challenge that EILEEN FISHER struggled with. For purposes of differentiating
between the company and the person, EILEEN FISHER shall refer to the company
for the duration of this analysis summary.
As a company that Fisher started from scratch, she seemed to gear the company

business model, but only to a certain extent. As she aged, so did ... Show more content

After IDEO s strategies were finalized, they were implemented during the 2009 fall
season via the STITCH project. Together, both companies decided that a holistic
approach would be the best way to revitalize the company, updating the company s
advertising aesthetic, changing in store visuals and merchandising, overhauling the
website, and embracing video as a communication medium in the process all of which
helped to attract a generally younger consumer.
While Fisher herself saw the rebranding as a huge success as in store and online
sales both saw large increases after the change was implemented, the company itself
saw a decent amount of backlash from its already loyal clientele. Regular customers
felt insulted at the apparent short sightedness of the company s rebranding, stating
that by creating an edgier product for a younger consumer, they were implying that
the older consumer has no edge, thereby alienating them in the process. Without an
already well established social media presence, the company had no real way of
responding to the criticisms.
Despite the negativity surrounding the brand repositioning, EILEEN FISHER
continued to embrace the change, narrowing down its potential customer base to three
categories: the established woman, the emerging woman, and the nascent woman.
The emerging woman seemed the most attractive consumer base to target,

the world and everyday life. Space flight encourages scientific aspirations and

questions of humanity lie in space. Who are we, why are we here? Are we alone?
Why spend money on spaceflight when we have plenty of problems here on earth?
The money that we spend on spaceflight will circle around to solve the pressing

Remember when you dreamed? What did you dream about? I was an astronaut on a
spacewalk. I was terrified yet thrilled. I was a kid in a tree house dreaming of
something greater than himself that will change the world and humanity forever.
Thesis: Because our future depends on it, humanity must continue to invest in space
exploration, particularly in exploring Mars.
Methods
To understand the importance of space flight, I thought that it would be vital to
grasp the mindset of people who have firsthand experience with spaceflight. I began
by reading Buzz Aldrin s 2013 book, Mission to Mars: My Vision for Space
Exploration published by National Geographic as well as the 2016 speech, Mars
Matters given by Charles Bolden, the director of NASA, at the 32nd Space
Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I then thought that it would be
important to comprehend the historical significance of space flight. I found 2
articles by NASA s chief historian, Steven J. Dick published by NASA: The
Importance of Exploration and Societal Impact of the Space Age (2005). I needed
to know in more detail the future of space flight that I was arguing for so I read the
2016 Huffington Post Article by David H. Bailey and Jonathan M. Borwein titled,
Space Exploration: The Future is Now. I wanted to develop an idea of the intangible
reasons that we explore space; the psychological reasons. These were explained in
the 2007 Air

Since cars produce an immense amount of Carbon dioxide into our ozone. Which
contribute significantly to the rising problem known as the greenhouse effect, which
is one of the main problems involving global warming. Many of these simple tips I
was able to learn through the National Geographic s videos on global warming.
Another procedure I would enforce if I was on the Presidents Climate Task Force is a
fine towards big factories that have machines that contribute to the immense amount
of pollution in our ozone. Many of their machines release carbon dioxide into the
air and contribute to the greenhouse effect which in time increases global warming.
If this fine was in forced many companies would have to change over to
environmentally friendly machines to produce their products. Although this might
seem drastic this fine could help save our planet and ever organism living on it.
Finally, my last proposal I would make if I was in the Presidents Climate Task Force
would be to force construction companies, paper companies, and lumber companies
as well to be limited on the number of trees they can cut
The Benefits Of Tissue Donation
Tissue Donation George Bernard Shaw once said, Science never solves a problem
without creating ten more. This statement is very true to the scientific world. A
prime example of this is the Henrietta Lacks story. Lacks had a bad case of cervical
cancer and doctors from John Hopkins took some cells from her tumor. Those cells
eventually became the first immortal cells and still grow today. The cells have also
made very important contributions to science such as polio vaccine, cloning, and
gene mapping. However, even though a lot of money has been made from these
cells, the family hasn t gotten anything in return. This is completely wrong. Why
should the companies be making money while the family can barely afford the care
they need? Anyone who donates tissue should be compensated for what they give
to the science community. Tissue donations can lead to important discoveries. So
why should the companies be the only ones profiting from the discoveries made?
This is one of the reasons that people should be compensated. Without the tissue
that the people give them, there would be no research available. For example it
says, That the Lacks family is owed remains painfully clear, but the question of who
exactly is responsible for that debt hangs over the film, at times uncomfortably
(Giorgis). This example again uses the Lacks. Why have they still not gotten paid

Unlike the western culture, in Islamic philosophy the perception of death is liberation and according to Mevlana (Rumi), death is a Ећeb i Arus (wedding night) so this culture has been more advanced in Turkish History. The most obvious display of it is that tombs and graves were built in the form of spectacular architectural and artistic works. That cemeteries take place inside or near the city centers show us that the perception of death for Turkish people is a part of life. Belief of afterlife has helped developing this culture. Gravestones are silent witnesses of our history. Our historical graveyards are open air museums and cultural heritages. The Turks always care to their gravestone tradition in history. They put some signs on graves not to be lost. Gravestones that can show differences according to features of the period and region have emerged in almost every part of Anatolia since the beginning of the Turkish history. • 6. The South African Brimide And The Armenian Genocide Prejudice acts, discrimination and institutionalized racism have long been apart of everyday current day society. In a global perspective institutionalized racism is almost non existent in the current year of 2017. Institutionalized racism is normally done under the context that the majority ruling class, political party or race systemically targets to hinder the minority class, political party or race. The systematic targeting makes sure to enable that the majority are assured the power and wealth of that city, nation or race. However it is also to be noted that there are instances in which there is the minority who are the ruling majority instead of the majority class or race having control. A prime example of this anomaly is the South African Apartheid in which the minority white race ruled over the black majority. The South African Apartheid began from 1948 and ended in 1991. The Apartheid made systematic laws that discriminated against that majority colored population that not only targeted blacks but Indians and mixed people as well. Another example of institutionalized racismis the Armenian Genocide. The Armenian Genocide is considered to be one of the first major exterminations of an entire race or population in modern history with an estimated count of over 1.5 million Armenians being killed by the Ottoman Empire. Although there is much dispute over the time the genocide began there is a general consensus of the date April 24th 1915. The Armenians were the minority

It is said that mans best friend is his Dog, and that leads me to a greatly influential character in the Wallace and Gromit series, this of course being Gromit, the dog. I believe that his personification has been cleverly done as it is not completely conspicuous, by this I mean that whilst Gromit is granted Human qualities (such as the ability to read), his lack of a voice means that we do not recognise him as a human, therefore leaving him with his canine status. Therefore, essentially Gromit is a human yet isn t, he drinks tea, reads newspapers and even has his own dog specific library of books but then he doesn t possess a voice. I think that

The Flynn Effect And Nutrition Nutrition, the Flynn Effect, and Substance Abuse Carly Gottsponer PSY 3813 TC3 Korey Davis September 17, 2017 The Flynn Effect is the tendency of IQ scores to change over time, and specifically, the apparent increase in intelligence in the general population evidenced by a steady increase in IQ scores. It was first noticed by James Flynn (The Flynn Effect). As years went by and IQ tests were restandardized, it was noticed that when previous tests were taken the outcomes were better on the previous tests than the tests that were in current circulation. The Flynn Effect has a number of factors that can attribute to the effect taking place. One factor in particular that has been discussed by many different people is the factor of overall better nutrition. Overall better nutrition has occurred in many places over the last 100 years or so. This improvement has been linked to head growth, earlier maturation of children, increased height, and faster growth (Williams). Increased head growth most likely means that human brains are growing which can subsequently be linked to the increased intelligence that is proven by IQ scores. The earlier maturation and faster growth of children can also be linked to how a population s intelligence improves over many years. The Flynn Effect and nutrition are related through the correlation of increased intelligence and increased overall nutrition. The effects of the Flynn effect on nutrition and vice versa are extensive. The

Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds:the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind. (Gen 1.24) The rest of the wild animals we see today are created over time. This step describes how all the life began to evolve and diversifying as God made each species unique. Then God said, Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. We the humans were made. There was not any lie either when it stated man will rule over livestock and wild animals as that is what the people are doing today. In god s image I believe just means that we have the power to change the world just like god. If it is true then it would not be going against the chance that there are aliens on other planets. The bible describes that on every planet with life, eventually one will rise up to become the ruler of it all as humans have become for the earth. Expandable Finally, the last day was about god resting. He rested and we did not see many of his actions any longer. There might have been a few changes, but god does not do the big things he did when the universe started any more. He only makes small changes now, miracles every now and then. Theodore Roosevelt s Contributions to American Political Thought Throughout his tenure as a civil servant, Theodore Roosevelt perpetually involved himself in matters of reform. Well read and well traveled, Roosevelt expressed his wide array of political thought out of experience as well as an underlying desire to see the United States establish itself as a world power under the ideals of a democratic republicВ—a wolf amongst sheep on the world scene. The nation s twenty sixth president laid the framework for foreign policy as we know it. He pressed reform amongst big business, and rallied for the rights of the laborer. Conservationism as well as environmental protection and preservation became issues at the forefront of Teddy s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Theodore Roosevelt placed great emphasis on the conservation of natural resources and the protection of the environment. These were subjects which were for the most part absent from the realm of politics. Roosevelt brought them to the forefront of American politics; ever since, candidates for political office have found it necessary (and sometimes greatly advantageous) to take a stance on environmental issues. He proclaimed, I recognize the right and duty of this generation to develop and use the natural resources of our land; but I do not recognize the right to waste them, or to rob, by wasteful use, the generations that come after us, (TR New Nationalism ). During his presidency, Roosevelt s progressive yet conservative stance on environmental issues led to the addition of more than 125 million acres to America s national forests. Teddy believed that conservation was a great moral issue placing the lives and safety of future generations at stake. Though environmental concerns are not presently at the top of America s political agenda, the American public is charged with the task of preserving our land and resources for the benefit of our descendents. Perhaps the most crucial of Theodore Roosevelt s contributions to American political thought originated once he had already left the presidency. While on an African safari in 1909, Roosevelt received a book from a friend entitled The Promise of American Life, which became an extremely
  • 29. Corruption In The Great Gatsby Success, formerly signifying the accomplishment of an aim or purpose, however, it has become poisoned by the narcissism of humankind which redefines it as the state of being financially superior to others. In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, the outlook on the American Dream during the 1920s was crafted through a myriad of events and characters depicting this civil dilemma. By definition, the American Dream is the belief that anyone, regardless of race, class, gender, or nationality, can be successful in America (wealthy), if they exert the required effort on their arduous journey. Having said that, the American Dream thus presents an illusion of an American society that neglects issues such as: systemic racism, misogyny, xenophobia, and income inequality. Furthermore, it also postulates a myth of class equality, yet the reality could not be further from this. In the novel The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgeralddemonstrates how fantasies driven by materialistic ideologies can lead to inevitable corruption and demoralization in society. Notably, this is exhibited through the daily struggles of George and Myrtle Wilson, the conspicuous bigotry of Tom and Daisy Buchanan as well as the ambition and passion of Jay Gatsby. Firstly, the characters George and Myrtle Wilson embody those who are pursuing the American Dream and face the endless challenges of their harsh realities. George owns an auto repair shop to collect profits while Myrtle pursues wealth and status through her affair with Tom. With this in mind, it is evident that both are disempowered due to the lack of money at their disposal. An example supporting this is when Nick describes the region they live in: This is a valley of ashes... which screens their obscure operations from your sight. (26). Instead of a bucolic image of a regular farm, the beauty of the natural world has been transformed into a horrible hellscape of gray ashes. Moreover, Nick describes the people living there as ash gray men who swarm like insects, illustrating the grim lives of the lower class labour workers who are barely surviving. Also, this displays how the rich are disconnected from their source of wealth and are ignorant towards their privilege. The lower
  • 30. Character Analysis Of The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a novel about Jay Gatsby told by Nick Carraway, which lives in the Midwestern but lives on a Long Island but works in Manhattan. Gatsby is an eccentric millionaire that has a huge mansion and throws big house parties. He invites Nick to the party which was unusual since he was considered a low class man. Later Nick finds out that Gatsby is in love with Daisy. Tom is married to her Daisy but is cheating on her with Myrtle from another island. Daisy was driving Gatsby s car and he accidentally ran over a woman, which was Myrtle because she thought it was someone else. Gatsby takes the blame and his mechanic came to his house and shot Gatsby and himself and then Daisy never told the truth. During this time they used these cars to show how wealthy and their status. Gatsby got a yellow car to show how wealthy, he was and was trying to get daisy to see him. It was a rich cream color, bright and there in it s monstrous length with triumphant hat boxes and supper boxes and tool boxes, and terraced with a labyrinth of wind shields that mirrored a dozen suns. (pg.33). It also displayed his achievements of a wealthy status. It was mainly shown to attract his love of his life to him. Another thing is that cars brought a lot of irony too at this time. Later on, Myrtle was struck by the car because she believed that Tom was the driver and he was the only way out of the Valley of Ashe s. However, her American Dream which was to leave the Valley of Ashe s killed her. This pain is strange because it is located in an appendage that no longer exists. By many of the amputees the pain is described as totally unbearable. Phantom limb pain has even driven some victims crazy. For the amputee population this is a very real problem that definitely needs to be solved. After James Peacock had his right arm amputated last December, he expected some difficulties. With those difficulties came pain so unbearableit could not be controlled with all the medicine in his cabinet. Derek Steen, otherwise known as The one armed pool player, lost a limb in a motorcycle accident at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When a body part is lost the corresponding part of the brain is not able to handle the loss and rewires its circuitry to make up for the signals it was no longer receiving from the missing digit. The rewiring might occur in one of two ways. Perhaps nerve impulses in the sensory cortex begin to course down previously untraveled pathways. The second theory is that neighboring neurons in the cortex may actually invade the territory left fallow because sensations are no longer received from the missing limb. Birbaumer, Lutzenberger, Montoya, and Wolfgang (1997) examined the functional relationship between cortical reorganization and phantom limb pain. Neuroelectric source imaging was used to determine changes in cortical reorganization in the somatosensory cortex after anesthesia of an amputation stump produced by brachial plexus blockage in six phantom limb pain patients and four pain free amputees. This cortical reorganization was studied to examine whether the neurons rewired after the loss of an appendage. Three of the phantom limb subjects experienced a virtual elimination of current phantom pain. The Biraumber et al., (1997) result of the anesthesia was a very rapid elimination of cortical reorganization in the somatosensory cortex. In three phantom limb pain amputees pain was not reduced by brachial
  • 32. The Maltese Front And The Novel Of The Maltese Falcon The film of the Maltese Falcon and the novel of the Maltese Falcon share some stark differences along with certain similarities that the film and novel hold. John Huston who directed the film of the Maltese Falcon shows Sam Spade a little differently as to how Dashiell Hammett portrays him. Both do share some commonalities between them, yet we see a greater split from novel to film in the final scene of the Maltese Falcon. The film portrays Spade as this stoic, cold hearted detective. Yet, the novel displays Spade as a more dominate grabbing man that needs answers now. The film differs from the novel as we see Spade portrayed in the film as a cold and stoic character as we see him in the novel as a more dominate and persistent character. As we progress through the final scene Sam Spade briskly moves on to alert the authorities about having Cairo and Gutman on the move. The novel shows Sam after putting the receiver down to appear nervous he wet his lips and looked down at his hands. Their palms were wet. He filled his deep chest with air. His eyes we glittering between straightened lids (p. 574). As to the film when we see Spade hang up the phone he briskly approaches Brigid trying to get as much information out of her as he can before the police arrive in the film at 1:28:52. As we see in the novel Hammett wanted to show Spade as being nervous for what is about to happen and for how aggressive he will be in order to get all of the information needed prior to the police arriving. Huston doesn t show any of that, but goes straight into getting all of the information out of Brigid as soon as possible. Leaving a major lack in character for the film Spade as compared to the novel Spade. Next, we follow to see Spade grabs Brigid and says G d damn you, talk! (p. 575) which shows Spade as a dominate and demanding individual. The significance of him grabbing executes this notion of dominance and the meaning of how important this is to Spade. In the film Spade at that moment wasn t as forceful to get this information out of Brigid. Around 1:29:26 Spade was standing badgering Brigid with question after question, in addition to asking rhetorical questions that Spade already knew the answer for. Having Spade in the

His education is one of the main topics for both sides of this argument. Although some believe Shakespeare went to school, his work is too complex and he did not travel far enough to write all these great plays. There are so many styles and concepts which those artists have come up with over times which are greatly reflected in their paintings and creations. In this essay we will be going on a journey to find out the inspiration and the intended messages from three paintings mentioned in the above topic. The Large Bathers, 1898 1905 is the largest of Cezanne s pictures and because it is also the most formal in aspect, it has been cited often as an example of his ideal of composition and his restoration if classical monumentality after its lapse during the nineteenth century (www.PaulCezanne.org). This painting was one of the most mind blowing yet interesting pieces during this era because of its unfinished quality which caused quite a stir among writers, artists and historians. The nude forms presented along with the river and triangular pattern in which the trees were painted gives quite an interesting perspective to his work. The composition of the painting did not reflect the ideal typical style from the Renaissance pyramid. Instead it was created in another style where the central part is empty, the apex is intercepted by the frame and the greatest compactness comes in smaller pyramids for the largest figures. One can also notice from Cezanne s work the way he thought about portrayed women. The abstract nude females present in Large

For purposes of differentiating between the company and the person, EILEEN FISHER shall refer to the company for the duration of this analysis summary. Together, both companies decided that a holistic approach would be the best way to revitalize the company, updating the company s advertising aesthetic, changing in store visuals and merchandising, overhauling the website, and embracing video as a communication medium in the process all of which helped to attract a generally younger consumer. While Fisher herself saw the rebranding as a huge success as in store and online sales both saw large increases after the change was implemented, the company itself saw a decent amount of backlash from its already loyal clientele. Regular customers felt insulted at the apparent short sightedness of the company s rebranding, stating that by creating an edgier product for a younger consumer, they were implying that the older consumer has no edge, thereby alienating them in the process. Without an already well established social media presence, the company had no real way of responding to the criticisms. Despite the negativity surrounding the brand repositioning, EILEEN FISHER continued to embrace the change, narrowing down its potential customer base to three categories: the established woman, the emerging woman, and the nascent woman. The emerging woman seemed the most attractive consumer base to target,

  • 43. The Benefits Of Tissue Donation Tissue Donation George Bernard Shaw once said, Science never solves a problem without creating ten more. This statement is very true to the scientific world. A prime example of this is the Henrietta Lacks story. Lacks had a bad case of cervical cancer and doctors from John Hopkins took some cells from her tumor. Those cells eventually became the first immortal cells and still grow today. The cells have also made very important contributions to science such as polio vaccine, cloning, and gene mapping. However, even though a lot of money has been made from these cells, the family hasn t gotten anything in return. This is completely wrong. Why should the companies be making money while the family can barely afford the care they need? Anyone who donates tissue should be compensated for what they give to the science community. Tissue donations can lead to important discoveries. So why should the companies be the only ones profiting from the discoveries made? This is one of the reasons that people should be compensated. Without the tissue that the people give them, there would be no research available. For example it says, That the Lacks family is owed remains painfully clear, but the question of who exactly is responsible for that debt hangs over the film, at times uncomfortably (Giorgis). This example again uses the Lacks. Why have they still not gotten paid even with all the advancements made possible by them? It s time for something to be put into place so that tissue
