Usually, a war is won when one side surrenders, but those outcomes do not make everything better.
Paul realizes war sets, people against one another and men have to innocently slay [each] other
(Remarque 262). Men slaying each other happens to be a dark horror of the brutality of war which
cannot be avoided because they are forced to do so. The front line consists of the troops closest to the

Hydraulics Personal Reflection
As a second year Marine Machinery Mechanic Apprentice, I am fortunate enough to continue my
career on one the most knowledgeable teams. As a member of the Hydraulics Team, I learned what it
is like to handle some of the largest Hydraulic components in existence. I am specially trained to
disassemble, clean, rebuild, and test hydraulic components according to required specifications.
Speech 251 has built my communication skills up to the point where I can clearly communicate, with
my team members, while conducting hydraulic tests. As the year is coming to an end, Hydraulics is
experiencing another slow period. As work slows down, I continue to educate myself by reading step
processes in technical manuals and by studying drawings to continue my growth in aspects that pertain
to my job. Moreover, as a second year apprentice, communication has proven to be one of the most
valuable skills, both written and verbal. Speech 251 has lent me a hand. Dr. Halbert s persistence in
the value of public speaking has been beneficial in establishing communication skills. In example, we

starved to death? For decades North Korea has been one of the most secretive societies and is one of
the few countries still under communist rule. The evil dictator, Kim Jong Un has total control over
every aspect of the citizen s lives. He has made sure to isolate his people from the rest of the world as
well as severely punish all who disobey him or his strict ruling. This has been a recurring problem for
the last couple of decades and it needs to be put to an end. The United States should take initiative and
