Picasso Vs Dubois
Artists Pablo Picasso and AndrГ© Breton were a part of the Surrealists, a group of
artists that embodied painting from the imagination by means of subconscious and
unconscious art practices. The text, Conversation with Picasso , which was originally
published in English in 1966 is photographer, BrassaГЇ s intimate documentation of
the pairs relationship. It explores Pablo Picassos take on surrealist painting, which
involves transforming what he sees to create a distinct sense of life into a painting,

Picasso states that museums are just a lot of lies, and the people who make art their
business are mostly imposters . This demonstrates his attitude towards art in a
commercial environment. Breton describes a scene comprising of imagery of himself

Choices By Nikki Giovanni
Even though someone is unhappy with their situation could they make the best out of
it? Well, Nikki Giovanni, an African American poet, wrote the poem Choices which
is speaks about how success comes from doing things people are not satisfied with. In
addition, if someone does not become the person they wantto be they can still be
grateful for the things that they possess because regardless there is still more to
want. The choices that people make may not be a choice someone is expected to
have, but it s all about making the best of it. Nikki Giovanni may have not come
from the best life, but she made a living out of it by becoming a civil rights activist
and a poet. The theme that Nikki Giovanni is trying to emphasize is that happiness
can come from the life people never expected, but if one is grateful for the life they
have then its self satisfying. Happiness can come from being humble which is
showing a modes or low estimate of one s importance. Furthermore, being optimistic

Being positive are ways people can get through certain obstacles as well because
they are expecting good things to happen. Furthermore, optimism can make you
more persistent because people try to figure out what they can do to make the
situation better or how can they learn from the struggle? In the poem, Nikki
Giovanni learned to be optimistic because in the 1st and 2nd stanza, If I can t do
what I want to do then my job is to not do what I don t want to do it s not the same
thing but it s the best I can do. In these lines, she is still trying to be optimistic with
her life because even though she is unhappy it was the best she could do, so she is
going to not let the negativity affect

Zachary Miller Case Study
Despite Zach Miller becoming a favorite target for Cutler last season, Chicago has a
lot of answered questions remaining at the tight end position. As this week s
minicamp practices come to an end, the bears have added Tony Moeaki to their 90
man roster.
Moeaki was simply using the minicamp as an effort to try out and be noticed by
someone on the Bears coaching staff. With the bears wanting to add strength to the
position, giving Moeaki the last spot on the 90 man roster appeared to be a wise
decision.
After being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 3rd round of the 2010 draft,
Chicago will be the 5th team that Moeaki has been a part of. His most productive
season to this point in his career has been his rookie season when he accumulated
556 yards on 47 receptions. He also was able to find the end zone on three
occasions throughout his rookie season. Because of his history of injuries, Tony has
not been given much of a chance by reporters to make the Bears final 53 man roster.

Although he has never been known for his abilities as a run blocker, he may be the
most talented out of the young tight ends the bears have to choose from. His
experience on special teams could provide him with an opportunity to see some extra
playing time, if Moeaki is able to make the team.
Being from the Chicagoland area, Tony played his college years at the University of
Iowa, where he made the First Team All Big Ten in 2009. He attended high school at
Wheaton Warrenville South high school in nearby Wheaton, Illinois.
Moeaki has a total of 91 receptions which have led to over 1,200 yards. He has
scored 6 touchdowns. He has been a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills,

Cinematic Techniques In Apocalypse Now

Apocalypse Now is a film directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and although it comes
across as a war film at first glance, Apocalypse Now is a thriller/drama about the
human psyche. Using no surrealist imagery, and a grounded realistic mis en scene,
the film effectively uses cinematic techniques such as lighting, camera angles, camera
movements and shots, colour and an array of other techniques to situate the viewer
within a surrealist world of war and darkness. The film provides us with an intimate
look into the mental struggles of each character, and the torment that they face when

Willards voice over plays an essential part in the film; since he is the protagonist,
the voice over gives context to everything that is happening, and functions to create
his character. Willards voice over serves to provide context, which is demonstrated
in the opening shot. Without the voice over, the viewer would be unaware whether
they were seeing actual Vietnam, but the Vietnam Willard is thinking about. The
voice over begins with Saigon, shit. I m still only in Saigon. , therefore situating
Willard in a space within the diegesis, and goes on to explain the rest of the scene.
Secondly, the voice over is autobiographical and self revealing. To borrow a phrase
from Doane, it turns the body inside out, displaying what is inaccessible to the
image, what exceeds the visible. 28 (Silverman). Willards voice over is used to
express his most intimate thoughts and feelings that the viewer would otherwise not
know, or would be unable to be expressed in a medium such as a play. The viewer
would be unable to understand the actions of Willards, The voice in question
functions almost like a searchlight suddenly turned upon a character s thoughts; it
makes audible what is ostensibly inaudible, transforming the private into the
Eminent Domain Case Analysis
This seems to be the fundamental issue underlying the paper: a pernicious sense of
what is valuable. Multiple times, the paper asserts that the be all, end all metric of
value ought to be economic value, specifically the value derived from synergistic
arrangements of real property. But viewing a situation through this lens dehumanizes
the situation. It leads to situations where we can, with a straight face, describe human
settlement as clutter to be disposed of. Indeed, alternative metrics of value exist
which add nuance to the situation. Sentimental or cultural value, for example, may
be entirely at odds with economic value. Were a city to grow and encompass sacred
Native American land, would it not be fair to consider such interests alongside those
of the capital class? What about a family with ancestors... Show more content on

One of the crucial assumptions underlying the paper s analysis is that a
redevelopment effort will necessarily create positive economic value. But what if it
does not? Kelo serves as a perfect example. What was supposed to be a profitable
facility is currently an empty lot collecting storm debris. At least with eminent domain
, voters have some form of cathartic recourse. They can vote out the individuals who
made the decision to condemn their homes for an ultimately disastrous product. In a
callable fee or floating fee situation, voters have little ability to seek redress, instead
nurturing feelings of political disenfranchisement and anti establishment resentment.
Further, the threat of losing their seats incentivizes politicians to carefully examine
any proposed development and only exercise their power when reasonably sure of its
success, minimizing potential mishaps. Thus, voters are both empowered and
incentives are put in place to encourage careful decision making concerning
development
Billy The Kid Short Story
The Death of Billy the Kid
In the period time from 1865 1890, the Plain and Indian War. It started when the
Americans wanted to expand to the Great Plains. The only problem was that the
Indians lived there. In addition, the government decided to move them to reservations
that were small and farming was not possible because the land was dry. The Indians
fought for their lands and some of those battles were the Battle of the Little Bighorn,
Wounded Knee, and the Sand Creek Massacre. Furthermore, after the Indians lost, the
government gave them the opportunity to become and live like white settlers. For
that, they will have to give up on their culture, traditions, and language. Furthermore,
while the Plain and Indian Wars was going on, in the Wild West Billy the Kidwas
becoming a legend. In short, like every legend there had to be an end. In the article,

The Importance Of Free Speech In Higher Education
American society identifies itself as a society where freedom and equal opportunity
for learning and expressing new ideas are abundant and unthwarted. The free speech
principle, or the principle that all speech and ideas should be able to move freely
without being impeded on by government or an institution, is a principle American
society has taken many steps to solidify and safeguard. Despite our best efforts,
differentiating ideas and free speech continue to be segregated in favor of popular
opinion especially in higher education. Often times, students along with public
speakers and professors are silenced on campusbecause of conflict with the public s
sentiment. This obstruction of the basic American value of free speech in higher
educationcomes with a detrimental cost to liberal education and the free flow of ideas.
Liberal education (the idea that education should promote all ideas or beliefs) is
designed for students to explore the vastness of the world and its many ideas.
Generally students who explore new fields and majors through education feel a desire
to promote these newfound ideas, especially if it involves politics, on their college
campus. Whether it be through a group, a club, or a form of media, students have the
ability to spread mass amounts of information and ideas to both open and unopened
minds. But even with the Constitutional right that protects these students ability to
showcase new and different ideas, this right is often times impeded on
Christianity, Judaism, And Christianity
In my opinion if you would have asked me this one year ago if there was afterlife, I
would of told you no. Once upon a time I believe when you die you stay in the
ground and your soul would stay there as well. I couldn t imagine that there was a
hell, heaven (paradise to some) or even a purgatory. That all change a few month ago
when I learn that some people and some religion might believe what they want to. In
this essay I have picked three religion Islam, Judaism, and Christianityto explain what
each of them have and to be able to show the similarity and difference among them
about the afterlife. Although each religion has its own goal, they however are similar
in belief. I have found that these three religion are known as the... Show more content

No one know really know how the Heaven looks like only to be known as a
wonderful and beautiful place. There is also a place that most Christian Catholic
believe if you aren t meant to be sent to Hell or Heaven, there is a third place to be
sent to call Purgatory. Purgatory is where most Christians stay until called for to
see if they deserve to be in the heaven. The Protestants do not believe in purgatory.
Now all we have to worry about is when we die, let hope we have no sin and that
for our past sins where wash away and those who did not serve God and have god
in their life, will be judged by their deeds. As for Judaism, there is no forever
between good souls and evil souls which in other religion such as Christianity and
Islam. Judaism believe that the devil can be in heaven. As for Judaism they
believe that death is not the end of human life. However, they are more focus on
life now then think about the afterlife. They can believe whatever they want to
believe but the souls of the good people who have die will go to similar heaven or
to some they will be that reincarnated, or some will wait until the coming of the
messiah , where they will be able to relive. Unlike other Judaism Jews they believe
that the evil souls will be torture by demons of their own thoughts, or that evil souls
will die and not to live ever again.
As for Islam they believe in the Paradise or Jinnah, which be similar to
Analysis Of Siddhartha s Journey From Corrupt...
Initially written in German and published in 1922, Siddhartha is Herman Hesse s
most notable work. Hesse s transition from a tumultuous life, marked by the serious
illness of his son, emergence from his turbulent marriage, chaotic involvement in a
political conflict, and his participation in the first world war, into a peaceful life in a
Swiss village is mirrored in Siddharthas journey from corrupt desperation to inner
peace. The central theme of the novel, which follows a young man in approximately
625 B.C. traveling throughout India in search of enlightenment, is experience is the
only true way to gain understanding. Hesse utilizes syntax, shifts in tone, compare
and contrast, and figurative language in this excerpt to convey this... Show more

This emphasizes that this is the resolution to the novel s primary conflict and a
notable character development for Siddhartha.
The tone of this scene starkly contrasts the dark and despairing tone of Siddhartha s
initial arrival on the riverbank and his subsequent suicide attempt. Lighter, and
infused with Siddhartha s refound joy, this section begins with the loss of his regret
over his years spent gambling and partaking in more carnal pleasures. While the
diction at points is still negatively connotated the tone overall remains light,
relegating such feelings to the past. With the statement it is a good thing to
experience everything for oneself, which one needs to know, (Hesse 98). Hesse
conveys to the reader that the so called mistakes of the past are not to be condemned
but rather accepted as a needed stepping stone towards your destiny. By using one
rather than Siddhartha continuing to speak in the first person the statement seems to
be not only directed at Siddhartha but to the reader themselves. Siddhartha considers
this transformation, thinking to himself If this bird within him had died, would he
have perished? No, something else from within him had died, something which he
had long desired should perish, (Hesse 99) illustrating that what he thought was joy
dying was, in fact, the loss of the part of himself which he has tried to abandon since
childhood, which offers a sense of relief and
The Pros And Cons Of The NFL Protests
The NFL protests started back in 2016 with Colin Kaepernick. He quietly started
sitting during the anthem, and eventually kneeling, to protest police brutality. He
said that he would not stand to show pride for a flag that oppresses black people.
Other players soon joined the movement, and fans criticized them because they
said that they were disrespecting the United States. The protests really blew up this
year after President Donald Trump said that NFL players that are kneeling should
be fired, and he even called them sons of b*****s. After this, many NFL players
and teams started to kneel and lock arms during the National Anthem, and some even
stayed in their locker rooms during the National Anthem. Protests have continued for
weeks, and this has divided fans. Many fans support the players decisions, but many
also do not support them, and have threatened to boycott the NFL. This led to Roger
Goodell, the League Commissioner, to send a letter to all the NFL teams asking
them to stand for the National Anthem. A few Sundays ago, Jerry Jones, the Dallas
Cowboys owner, threatened to bench any Cowboys players that didn t stand for the
National Anthem. President Trump supported his views, and went further to say that
Colin Kaepernick should have been suspended for kneeling last year. This led to
debates about what laws the protests are protected under, and whether the NFL and
its owners can legally stop them or not. The First Amendment protects free speech,

Newspeak In 1984
This idea of Newspeak is being used by the party to completely get rid of rebellious
thought and evidence of it throughout history. Syme later tells Winston that by 2050,
earlier, probably all real knowledge of Oldspeak will have disappeared. The whole
literature of the past will have been destroyed. Chaucer, Shakespeare, Milton, Byron
they ll exist only in Newspeak versions, not merely changed into something different,
but actually changed into something contradictory of what they used to be (Orwell

The party s methods of surveillance are stringent and flexible through the
implementation of telescreens, cameras, and manned patrols. As Winston was
returning home from work one day, a helicopter skimmed down between the roofs,
hovered for an instant like a bluebottle, and darted away again with a curving
flight. It was the police patrol, snooping into people s windows (Orwell 94).
Families could be enjoying dinner or doing work, but the party is only concerned
with limiting any kind of rebellion towards Big Brother, a policy that has embodied
all of Oceania s regulations. Of course, these brainwashed citizens may think
nothing of it, but snooping deeply splinters the privacy of the people. In Oceania,
one cannot realistically love someone else in respect to the party s rules. Acts of
sex, for example, are done in secret by Winston and Julia in fear of being caught by
the all seeing Big Brother. As a result, the totalization of surveillance of Party
members, not only does private life come to an end, but so does the possibility of
sexual desire as truly liberating (Fitzpatrick). Winston realizes that the act of sex
itself is rebellious and uses it to motivate him in devoting his mind and heart with
fighting the oppressive party. Especially with his position working for the party,
Winston knows he is at an increased risk of being caught, but does not care and
takes pride in this liberating act. The party also manipulates young and innocent
children into working to fulfill the principles of the party. Syme tells Winston that
Nearly all children nowadays were horrible. What was worst of all was that by means
of such organizations as the Spies they were systematically turned into ungovernable
little savages, and yet this produced in them no tendency whatever to rebel against the
discipline of the Party. On the contrary, they adored the Party and

The future of air combat does not lie within how many ordinances a plane can
carry, the size of its gun, or the amount of time it can stay in the air; but rather how
quickly, easily and precisely it can accomplish these tasks. The F 35 has automated
systems that allow the pilot to concentrate on mission planning, while the very low
observable (VLO) stealth technology allows the plane to enter the combat zone
undetected and take out the enemy s ground fortifications.11 While the A 10 can
only fly in uncontested environments and the F 16 is easily captured on enemy
radars, the F 35 can fly in undetected using VLO and drop fifth generation
ordinances with remarkable accuracy. Furthermore, when the major ground threats
have been eliminated, the F 35 is capable of putting on exterior armaments
including an additional Gatling gun for close air support and a mixture of air to
ground and air to air ordinances.12 Dave Deptula, the head of the Air Force

they are sensor shooters optimized for different threat regimes, and can perform

Sharecroppers Cycle Of Poverty Essay
Reconstruction was a failure because although the North had promised to free all
slaves from slavery, they had failed to restrain the South from coming back to a
system similar to slavery. Right after the South had been readmitted into the US,
many of the plantation owners had been afraid that they would become broke, as they
had nobody to till their large fields. At the same time, many of the newly freedmen
were having trouble finding jobs and making a living. Therefore, in order to benefit
both freedmen and plantation owners, came a farming system called sharecropping.

They looked forward being independent farmers who worked for themselves and

It also showed that the owners controlled a majority of the sharecropper s life, and
ended up taking a lot of the sharecroppers money. (Slides, 11). In order to pay off
the debt, many of the sharecroppers ended up working for their masters for the rest
of their lives. The white landowners arranged things so that most sharecroppers
could not make enough money. Sharecropping had turned into another way for
plantation owners to get free labor just like slavery. Sharecroppers were forced to do
the same work as before and barely benefited. They no longer benefited from

together form its foundation. These words are treachery, diplomacy and hypocricy
which are the guiding principles in politics and act as a vehicle for a politician

One way this was achieved from the structure of the wall across 5,000 km itself to

The Effects Of Peer Pressure On My Life
Friendship is a human born initiative that comes from within. In this world we are
leaving in no one would want to be alone or isolated including me. Peer pressure in
my life has had both negative and positive effects in my life when I was growing

my adolescent years when peers were an important aspect in my life by shaping
the way I would act and think in future I began to develop intimate friendship that

Essay # 1 Summary
September 10, 2011 Caroline Bird s essay College is a Waste of Time and Money
explains her beliefs on why, for some people, going to college is an ineffective and
inefficient use of their time. She states that many students do not belong in college
because they are there for the wrong reasons and they are not happy learning. She also
gives evidence to suggest that going to college and getting a degree does not
actually allows a person to make more money in their life time. Her final claim is
that college does not prepare most students for the real world and the jobs they will
have once they graduate. Bird believes most students are not in college for ... Show

Bird s second point is that, contrary to popular belief, college is not the best monetary
investment a young person can make. Bird explains this by comparing the money
that would be spent on education versus money that is put in a bank for interest.
The outcome shows investing money that would otherwise be spent on a college
education would earn over half a million dollars more than the earnings of a male
college graduate compared to a non graduate. Bird also states that even if a
graduate makes more money in their job than a non graduate, there is no evidence
that the higher income is due to their college education. She attributes financial
success to luck rather than a college education. In this argument she mainly puts
forth logical reasons why college is not for everyone. She shows actual dollar
amounts that logically prove an education is not necessarily the most profitable
investment. Bird s final point is that college does not prepare most people for the
jobs they are going to have in the future. She states the work attached to most jobs is
totally unrelated to their college education. For example, although there are many
graduates with a psychology degree, there are only so many jobs in psychology. The
remaining graduates are forced to find jobs with work unrelated to the degree they
have obtained. Also, she brings up the point that college does not make people
intelligent and successful, but successful and intelligent people go to
Essay On Villa Lante
INTRODUCTION
Located in central Italy, in Viterbo, Villa Lante is a true example of a Renaissance
Italian garden. It is considered to be one of the finest illustration of a mannerist
garden design since its elements style are exaggerated in their art.
HISTORY
The construction of the site started in 1566 by two bishop men who followed each
other; the first one was Gian Francesco Gambarra, and the second was Alessandro
Montalto. The combination of Gambarra, a mature man, and Montalto, an adolescent,
would produce one of the strangest Italian villa and park. This garden was at first a
preserved hunting park, but after realizing the Cardinal s dream, it got converted
into magnificent landscaped grounds that we find today. This work was mainly
attributed to one of the great architects of the 16th century, Giacomo Barozzi, known
as Il Vignola . Thomas Chiruchi was also a main part of the site s magnificent
creation since he was the hydraulic engineer that adjusted all the waterworks to
perfection. In fact, as we ll see later on, water is the main feature that will bring
together all the components of the garden in a poetic harmony.

These loggias provide a place for relaxation. Their sides frame the large Fountain of
the Deluge that terminates the main axis of the garden. They are covered by a
roughened texture to harmonize with the natural rough rock of the Fountain. Plus,
water conduits set in their eaves project jets of water to complete a visual ensemble
known as the theatre of the waters . These spouts may sprinkle visitor by surprise.
The Fountain of the Flood forms a visual conclusion to the whole. In a more general
sense, it provides an underlying theme that is developed throughout the entire garden.
The leitmotiv here is Water, coming out in its natural state from a rocky slope.
Symbolically speaking, all fountains depend on water for their
Equality 7-2521 In Anthem By Ayn Rand
The author Ayn Rand said The question is not who is going to let me, but who is
going to stop me. In a way her main character, Equality 7 2521 goes along with this
quote. He did not let anyone stop him from going in the hole in the woods, he did
not let anyone stop him from making the light bulb, and he did not let anyone stop
him from running away and finding his happiness. He knew writing the book was
considered a sin, but writing made him happy so he continued writing. When
Equality started to realize everything he had been taught, such as the rules and laws
of the society, he thought it was not crucial to his life, he was correct. In the novel the
society shouldn t decide what a human does or thinks, but let them be their own
individual.
Julia Lorraine Hill Research Paper
Julia Butterfly Hill Civil Disobedience has been around for hundreds of years. This
a practice first put into play by a man by the name of Henry David Thoreau who
believed that if you didn t agree with a rule then you should act against it in a
nonviolent way, and be willing to accept any punishment that comes with it. His
teachings were followed by famous activists such as Ghandi, and Martin Luther
King Jr., and many others. Julia Lorraine Hill s life journey started on February
18th of 1974 in Mount Vernon, Minnesota (Watson). Due to her parents career as
Christian preachers, she lived on the road for the early years of her life until
settling down in Jonesboro, Arkansas, in her teens. When Julia was 22, she
suffered a near fatal car crash resulting in a head injury where the steering wheel
went into her skull (Lallanilla). Her injuries took her almost a year to recover
from. During her recovery period, she had time to reevaluate her life and decided
that there was more she needed to do with her time on Earth. As soon as she was
healthy once more she went to the road and headed out west. During her excursion,
she learned of the redwood forests of California and the threats towards them. Julia

Where the Wild things Are Film
To escape the reality of this undeniably complicated world, would be something so
distant to even consider, yet it would not be impossible to. The film Where the
Wild Things Are unconsciously portrays an attempt at this escape through the
leading role, Max and his fellow Wild Things. Max s Journey could be considered
a quest for sanity and morality in the sense that his everyday life initiated him to
escape this reality and experience a much preferable life in which would be
considered his safe space, where he was unknowingly faced with his own deepest
aspects of himself through the personalities and conflicts of others leading him to
further learn his place in the world. It is evident that Max tries to escape his reality

Max used a fantasy world to help him better understand and cope with his emotions
and problems. Through the wild things brought a sense of comfort and left Max
feeling wanted, which was something he was deprived of at home. The wild things

wanted. It is merrily obvious that without fantasy, it is nearly impossible for a
child to fathom the more complicated things in life on their own. Through fantasy
brings understanding and the ability to keep continuous hope through life because
with imagination comes hope and imagination is the root to all beginning of
understanding. Max begins to find sanity through the wild things, he experiences
every feeling he has dealt with through the personalities and situations of his fellow
friends. Through dealing with the emotions and conflicts of the wild things, each
character easily becomes scene as a shadow of one of Max s feelings. Whether it
be through Carol, who seemed to have similar attributes as a father figure, yet was
just as out of control as max was said to be, or Alexander who was neglected and
belittled compared to others, just like Max was. All the characters in some way
project Max s personality and put a twist on his reality so that it is based on them
instead of him, which allows him to better understand and deal with such concepts
and issues. A great poet Schiller once said Deeper meaning

Once I have a better understanding of the concepts, I can begin to implement them

Changing Population Trends
In a changing nation, population trends, along with other upcoming trends are
affecting the healthcare industry. Changes in demographic trends, such as the aging
population, the increased presence of minority groups, and rising fertility rates are
very much present within our nation, making the need for healthcare providers to
adapt their care to fit the entire population. Assessments of areas in terms of the age
and race must be conducted annually if the healthcare system is to accommodate the
change in healthcare needs. Latinos are more likely to suffer from Lupus than any
other race in America. African Americans are more likely to face diabetes. In fact,
over the next few decades, the non white population is expected to be the fasted
growing group (Vespa, Armstrong, Medina, 2018) in the United States.... Show more

Mergers between health insurance groups and pharmacies have already begun to
take place, as in the case in the merger between Aetna and CVS. This merger, once
complete, could introduce providers into the CVS pharmacies, making shopping for
personal needs, receiving healthcare, and picking up prescriptions a one stop trip
(Dowling, 2017). Consumerism is the root cause of this trend, and as the population
continues to age and change in terms of the racial make up, consumerism will only
grow, meaning more people wanting more services in less time and with more
convenience. Providers of larger practices should not see this as a deterrent to the
services they offer, but rather as an opportunity to adapt to the changes in
demographic trends and innovate their practices to remain competitive with the rest
of the industry. Regardless of the changes in types of practices that begin to take of
the healthcare industry, the aging population will still depend on the presence of
hospitals and long term care facilities to care for them during chronic, long lasting
Bringing Emotional Abuse To The Forefront. No
Relationship
Bringing Emotional Abuse to the Forefront No relationship will ever be perfect, but
that does not mean you should settle for one that is toxic and degrading. However,
according to National Domestic Violence Hotline, 1 in 3 adolescents in the United
States have experienced at least one type of abuse from their romantic partner.
Evidently, this shows that people still continue to engage in these unhealthy
relationships. Perhaps what is even further alarming is that the majority of the abused
refrain from reporting it, often sufferinglong term effects from this abuse. When
thinking about the effects, most people s minds will retreat to bruises, cuts, and other
physical evidence. However, people fail to consider the scars that are not... Show

However, this perpetual state does not work alone in the harmful effects of emotional
abuse. Secondly, emotional abuse exceeds physical abuse because of its more
personal approach and attack on the victim s self esteem. Those who emotionally
abuse their partner pinpoint flaws and areas where the victim already has self
esteem issues (Patterson). This includes implying that one is ugly, stupid, fat, etc.,
and this personal approach causes the victim to have further self confidence issues
and to believe that the abuse is their own fault (Stosny). On the other hand, physical
abuse tends to make it likely for the victim to realize that the abuser has a problem,
rather than themselves. If emotional abuse did not target and was not as personal,
the effects would fall lower than what they are. However, emotional abuse causes it
to be about the persons themselves and their spirit (Stosny). The personal insults and
criticisms wear away at self esteem so much that the victim will believe they are
worthless and actually blame themselves for the abuse (Hein). This obliteration of
self esteem remains only one reason why the pain of emotional abuse exceeds
physical abuse, and it worsens
Beatriz Milhazes African American Art Style
In this overview, I will be comparing Beatriz Milhazes art to African art. Beatriz
Milhazes is from Brazil; she was born in 1960. She does paintings, prints, and
architectural installations (Guggenheim). Her artwork is mainly geometric figures
sort of like kaleidoscope. Most of her work is based on European and Brazilian art.
Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, and Talsila do Amaral are three artists that influenced
her to do art (Guggenheim). In the 90 s, Milhaze started doing a method of collaging
art and this became her technique; most of paintings had geometric shapes, floral
patterns, and used very bright colors(Widewalls). African patterns are very different
from Milhaze s artwork. African patterns came from architecture, artifacts, masks and
textiles (Contemporary African Art). Most of the patterns are repetitive, for instance,
chevron and zigzag patterns are examples but geometric shapes are also repetitive.
The geometric shapes are used in paintings, print, and many more. The geometric
shapes pattern can be arranged horizontally or vertical. Some African patterns are also
found in crafts and artifacts such as: baskets, jewelry, cravings, blankets, etc.... Show

Milhazes uses Latin America and European in her art work. The way Milhazes
represents her art is by mixing both Latin America and European style by using
geometric, fashion, and decorative art (Widewalls). Most of her art pieces are
colorful, all geometric shapes and the shape of lines are close together and the
patterns are not repetitive while African patterns, are in assorted colors and pattern

similarity is that the use of geometric shapes in
Marianne Moore s The Fish Essay
Marianne Moore s nature and artistic background contribute to her modernist style
and is prominent in her poem The Fish. Marianne Moore wrote in the 1930 s, a
decade of change. Moore is characterized as a writer who uses overall nature, art,
life, modesty, and humor. Her writing is recognized by its descriptions, and

Moore s biographical background contributes to her symbolic writings. Moore s

Parents Keep Child s Gender Secret By Jayme Poisson
In Parents Keep Child s Gender Secret, Jayme Poisson describes how one family
choses to raise their child genderless. They are also keeping the child s sex a secret,
although it is not clear if they are trying to allow the child to define its sex. Gender
and sex are two different distinctions that are often mistakenly seen as the same thing.
Society places genderexpectations based on sex, so it s easy to see why they are
looked at as the same thing. It s important to remember that gender represents a
choice, while sex is determined before you are born. The option of choosing is
important when considering the ethics of raising a child. It s why I believe that it is
ethical to allow a child to define their gender and unethical to allow a child to define
their sex.
There are three common arguments against allowing a child to define their gender.
The first common argument is that the child will bullied and may not be mature
enough to handle it. Unfortunately, children can be bullied for a number of reasons
regardless of their gender. Parents do not allow bullying to affect other decisions and
they should not allow bullying to interfere with who their child wants to be either. It
is he one doing the bullying that has a problem, not their child.
The second common argument against allowing a child to define their gender is that
friends and family will disapprove. However, there is always someone who will
disapprove of any decision you make. Voting, eating meat, sexual

The Gospel According To The Gospel Of Luke
Introduction to the Gospel according to Luke
Before we begin our series on the Gospel according to Luke, let us have a look at
what this gospel focuses on and what makes it unique compared to the other three
gospels. The Gospel of Luke was probably the last to be written, between 59AD and
70AD. It is thought to have been written by Luke, a Greek, a physician and a
companion of the Apostle Paul. Though personal information about his life is non
existent and like the other synoptics, the author does not clearly identify himself
within the text. One of the few times Luke is mentioned is by Paul, in Colossians
4:14, it says Our dear friend Luke, the doctor and Demas send greetings, indicating
that Luke was travelling with him at this time. ... Show more content on

Even though it is written in more of a Greek style, its subject matter covers the
concerns of Christians, rather than the Greco Roman world. Luke uses an extensive
prologue to introduce his gospel, which is not seen in the other gospels. Luke 1:3 4
says with this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from
the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent
Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been
taught. This formal introduction is not only Greek in nature, setting out the
subject, purpose, method and audience, but is addressed to Theophilus, a name
that means Lover of God or friend of God. This could be an individual, as it was a
name given to men of authority or it could have simply been addressing every
Christian. Here he writes to inform Theophilus of his intention, which is to lead the
reader through an account of events, this was not to justify the Christian belief, but
to encourage the faith of those who did believe. What makes Luke so interesting is
that it is the only gospel to have a sequel, which is the book of Acts. It is believed
that Luke and Acts were written as a two part volume, with the style of writing and
length being similar. Acts even begins by Luke addressing Theophilus, In my former
book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach. (Acts

Uncle Tom s Cabin Thesis
Research Paper Rough Draft
Hot off the press, Uncle Tom s Cabin was simultaneously celebrated as an important
accomplishment and slammed as untruthful fiction. This array of responses,
combined with a plethora of repercussions, demonstrates how incredibly influential
Uncle Tom s Cabin truly was. The book fueled anti slavery forces in the North while
simultaneously igniting a fire of fury in the South; abolitionists, pro slavery
advocates, and African Americans all emphatically voiced their opinions about the
book and its anti slavery message. Additionally, Uncle Tom s Cabinhas often been
associated with the beginning of the Civil War; it brought to light the fact that the
North and South could not continue peaceably living in persistent disagreement on
vitally important topics such as slavery. Through incredible storytelling abilities,
Harriet Beecher Stowe conveyed to her readers the cruelties of enslavement, the
injustices of numerous pro slave laws, and the desperate need for the abolition of
thraldom in our country. Within a month of its publication, an additional 15,000
copies of Uncle Tom s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the use of both general relatable themes and slavery specific themes,
Uncle Tom s Cabin blew on the embers of people s emotions. Some of the general
relatable themes included a mother losing her child, separation of family,
economic hardship, and evil prevailing against the innocent. These different
aspects made the book touch a very personal chord in the reader s hearts because
every person can relate to these hardships. The slavery specific themes include
characters openly arguing the causes of slavery, the Fugitive Slave Law, and the
future of freed slaves. The book was also extremely graphic about how a number of
slaves were cruelly treated and how inhumane the sin of slavery really

The Serial Killer Albert Fish

Abstract
Hamilton (Albert) Fish (1870 1936) was an American serial killer, child rapist, and
cannibal. He was known as the gray man, the werewolf of wisteria, the Brooklyn
vampire, the moon maniac, and the boogey man. Albert (born Hamilton) Fish came
from a family seemingly stricken by mental illness, with six close relative in
mental hospitals. At the age nine his father died, and Fish was sent to an orphanage.
At that point Fish experienced bullying, and whippings from caretakers. It wasn t
until three years later that his mother took on a government job and was able to
take him back. He began a relationship with another boy, where he was introduced to
urine drinking and feces eating. In 1890 he moved to New York, where he became a
prostitute and began raping young boys. At some point he became interested in
penises themselves and began sexual mutilations. In 1917 Fish s wife ... Show more

In 1910 Albert met a man named Thomas Kedden, whom he began a
sadomasochistic relationship. Fish implied the man was mentally disabled.
Ultimately, Kedden was taken by Fish to an abandoned farmhouse, where Fish
began a two week process of torturing him, eventually cutting off half the man s
penis and killing him. Afraid of somebody smelling it, if he took the body with him,
cut into pieces. In 1917 Fish s wife left him for a young handyman, taking nearly
everything they owned, except for their six children. Soon after Fish began having
auditory hallucinations. At this time Fish began asking his children and their friends
to use a board to spank him, along with self harming himself using needles, planting
them in his abdomen and groin. After his death, needles were found in his pelvic and
groin region by
Impact Of Reconstruction On African American Equality
The fight for African American equality has been present throughout the course of
American history. In the years following the Civil War, tensions were high between
the two races, allowing for a series of issues to arise. The Reconstruction Era
addressed the inequality and attempted to provide aid to the struggling African
Americans, however many factors limited the government s ability to do anything.
Reconstruction failed in its goals to provide social, political and economic equality
for African Americans in the years following the Civil War.
Reconstruction tried to address the challenges that African Americans were facing,
but racism was still rooted in these efforts. In the years following the Civil War, a
majority of white Americans still continued to support white supremacy which lead
to African Americans being denied of power, wealth and position (Gillette 191).
Denial of equality for African Americans led to an improvement in government
intervention. The Civil Rights Act of 1860 was enacted but failed to address big civil
rights issues, such as segregation, for African Americans (Gillette 197). The main
reason that the government failed in its efforts was due to the peoples unwavering
feelings towards African Americans. People s racist sentiments questioned if it was...

The lack of respect for African Americanequality left government officials denying
them power to hold office and were often seen as not credible leading them not to be
able to be a part of important discussions concerning their rights (Gillette 195).
African American s unfair treatment to access political power of the right to vote and
hold political office empathized the failure of Reconstruction towards this
Mission And Mexican Period Essay
The Mission and Mexican period is a difficult topic for fourth grade students to
understand and teachers to teach. But, one way I can teach students about the
mission system and Mexican period is through lecture and an interactive activity, like
a play. Because by providing students with lectures and illustrations, students can see
and understand for themselves the different changes that occurred through these
periods and feel the impact of these changes through acting in a play. Before, teaching
students about the mission and Mexican period, I believe it is important to teach
students about California history before the arrival of the Spanish. I will teach the
students about California life before the Spanish through a lecture and providing...

neophyte populations (Eden, 91), and providing illustrations of the missions and
Spanish life. Students will then compare and contrast California before the Spanish
and the mission period. Analyzing the changes California went through before and
during mission period. After introducing the mission system, I will briefly explain
the short Mexican period by explaining how most California cities and streets
received their names. For example, I will ask the students, Has anyone walked on
or drove by Sepulveda Blvd or Rancho Palos Verdes ? and Does anyone know how
these streets received their names ? Introducing them to the history of rancho and
pueblo society during the Mexican Period in

China s Political Influence On Foreign Policy
China s Indo Pacific neighbors, notably Japan, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, India
and Australia, seem nervous about China s rapidly rising military threat strength and
aggressive stance in foreign policy. Is China perceived as a military threat by these
states? What measures have these states taken or are contemplating to deal with the
Chinese threat?
China s military rising has led to China s power in the East Asia region and concerns
about China s power in the Indo Pacific region. Many scholars believe that when a
state becomes powerful, it will defiantly seek greater regional political influence and
consequently worldwide political influence. This influence will result in the change
of the power structure in the region and eventually lead to a long term security
danger. According to the power structure scholars, the history of international
relations supports this argument. In the period between two World Wars, Germany
became a powerful state and turned out to be the threat to the security of the West
Atlantic region and finally caused the World War II. In addition, before the World
War II Japan was a rising power and caused the Pacific war in the 1930s and 1940s
(Jiangye2002,57). However, opponents claim that China as a rising power has not
followed the examples of Germany and Japan because the international system has
been changed. Opponents also believe that in the traditional international system the
national interests of a rising power were to conflict and
Persuasive Essay On Bulls
In the beautiful city of Pamplona, located in Navarre, Spain , the world renowned San
Fermin Festival is hosted. In the month of July from the sixth to the fourteenth, many
come from all around the world to celebrate and enjoy the festivities thrown. This
one, nine day long event, brings thousands together to experience this special
occasion. The San Fermin Festival was originally celebrated to honor Saint
Fermin, patron of Navarre, but for others the fiesta is for a good time and later a good
story. The most famous events is the runningwith the bulls and bullfighting. These
events is why the festival has become so internationally known, for a different
reason however, some take the event as exciting and blood rushing, while others
describe it as extremely dangerous, cruel, and a bull bloodbath. Running with the
bulls, many has said to be an exhilarating event. Lasting between two through six
minutes depending on whether issues occur during, the run being the distance of
about 0.5 miles. To be a participant in this festivity or to even think about it, one
must be physically healthy, 18 years or older, and must understand the true reality
of the ordeal. If one does a single thing wrong it could be fatal. In just this year s
2017 bull run ten were injured, and since 1942 fifteenth fatalities have been reported
from being gored (stab from a bull s horn) by an angry bull. Even with most knowing
the dangers people continue to join the fiesta and put on their all white attire with

The best selling book Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee An Indian History of the
American West was written in 1971 by Dee Brown. It is a textbook account of
much of the Native American experience in the era of European contact through
the western expansion years early in United States history. It is comprehensive to
a point, it does not completely tell the history of every tribe that had contact with
the white people and the American government. What it does cover, to the best of
my knowledge, is historically accurate. Being an historical account it reports the
events from a historian s perspective. Although it is somewhat biased, it is from a
Native American historian s perspective, it doesn t attempt to dramatize the
history. The text is pragmatic. The stating of the facts is boring and almost tedious
in places throughout the book. It contains no dialogue with the exceptions of
quotes meant to give credence to an account. There are parts of the book that, to
me, read like the bible book of Genesis, as it gives names and family stories in a
similar fashion. An example of this can be found in chapter 7 which reads: Among
them were Tall Bull, White Horse, Gray Beard, Bull Bear, and other Dog Soldier
chiefs. The great war leader Roman Nose also went along, and so did the two half
breed Bent brothers. ...Among the few who did was George Bent. He especially
wanted to see Black Kettle s niece, Magpie, and not long after their reunion he made
her his wife. 1 The

search of the assassin, he trailed off. I feigned a look of interest. I already knew
there was no assailant to be found. To be frank, I was rather irritated I d need to
exhaust so many resources to search the mountains for a ghost. There is only one
thing to do, declare war. Your majesty, is it wise when Orscloe is known for its
impeccably trained army? Can you not train our armies to our skill them? I inquired
out of irritation an inferior had questioned me. He bumbled syllables around his

At this point in my life the career path which interests me the most is the Foreign

People currently in the Foreign Service have said that the degree you go after
doesn t really make a difference. Age does matter, you have to be at 20 and under
59. Individuals must pass the standardized test and must be able to submit a
resume with past experiences. After passing that test, you are invited to participate
in the oral exam, where you have to play the role of an embassy officer and work
with your team mates to solve complex problems. It also helps to be proficient in
two or more different languages. The salary in the Foreign Service is a bit
complex, people who want to go in to must understand its limitations. It is also
important to understand that Foreign Service officers live around the world, not
always in Washington D.C. and they are usually relocated every two to three
years. Relocating every so often can become quite expensive, which is why
Diplomats are offered a generous stipend or free housing overseas, this is done
through a Quarter s allowance. They will provide you with housing but all other
luxuries (T.V, internet, cleaning, lawn service, servants, and deterioration of
furnishing) are paid by the individual who resides there. If you have children, their
overseas education is also covered. The agency also provides many more benefits.
Besides benefits, the Foreign Service uses a pay scale system that

The text, Conversation with Picasso , which was originally published in English in 1966 is photographer, BrassaГЇ s intimate documentation of the pairs relationship. • 3. Choices By Nikki Giovanni Even though someone is unhappy with their situation could they make the best out of it? Well, Nikki Giovanni, an African American poet, wrote the poem Choices which is speaks about how success comes from doing things people are not satisfied with. In addition, if someone does not become the person they wantto be they can still be grateful for the things that they possess because regardless there is still more to want. The choices that people make may not be a choice someone is expected to have, but it s all about making the best of it. Nikki Giovanni may have not come from the best life, but she made a living out of it by becoming a civil rights activist and a poet. The theme that Nikki Giovanni is trying to emphasize is that happiness can come from the life people never expected, but if one is grateful for the life they have then its self satisfying. Happiness can come from being humble which is showing a modes or low estimate of one s importance. Furthermore, being optimistic which is a disposed on taking a favorable view of events or conditions and to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the poem, Nikki Giovanni learned to be optimistic because in the 1st and 2nd stanza, If I can t do what I want to do then my job is to not do what I don t want to do it s not the same thing but it s the best I can do. In these lines, she is still trying to be optimistic with her life because even though she is unhappy it was the best she could do, so she is going to not let the negativity affect

  • 5. Zachary Miller Case Study Despite Zach Miller becoming a favorite target for Cutler last season, Chicago has a lot of answered questions remaining at the tight end position. As this week s minicamp practices come to an end, the bears have added Tony Moeaki to their 90 man roster. Moeaki was simply using the minicamp as an effort to try out and be noticed by someone on the Bears coaching staff. With the bears wanting to add strength to the position, giving Moeaki the last spot on the 90 man roster appeared to be a wise decision. After being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 3rd round of the 2010 draft, Chicago will be the 5th team that Moeaki has been a part of. His most productive season to this point in his career has been his rookie season when he accumulated 556 yards on 47 receptions. He also was able to find the end zone on three occasions throughout his rookie season. Because of his history of injuries, Tony has not been given much of a chance by reporters to make the Bears final 53 man roster. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although he has never been known for his abilities as a run blocker, he may be the most talented out of the young tight ends the bears have to choose from. His experience on special teams could provide him with an opportunity to see some extra playing time, if Moeaki is able to make the team. Being from the Chicagoland area, Tony played his college years at the University of Iowa, where he made the First Team All Big Ten in 2009. He attended high school at Wheaton Warrenville South high school in nearby Wheaton, Illinois. Moeaki has a total of 91 receptions which have led to over 1,200 yards. He has scored 6 touchdowns. He has been a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks, and most recently the Atlanta

Cinematic Techniques In Apocalypse Now Second Term Research Essay: Cinematic Aspects of Apocalypse Now Humanities for a Global Age AP/HUMA 2600 6.0A Sara Ducic Apocalypse Now is a film directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and although it comes across as a war film at first glance, Apocalypse Now is a thriller/drama about the human psyche. Using no surrealist imagery, and a grounded realistic mis en scene, the film effectively uses cinematic techniques such as lighting, camera angles, camera movements and shots, colour and an array of other techniques to situate the viewer within a surrealist world of war and darkness. • 8. Eminent Domain Case Analysis This seems to be the fundamental issue underlying the paper: a pernicious sense of what is valuable. Multiple times, the paper asserts that the be all, end all metric of value ought to be economic value, specifically the value derived from synergistic arrangements of real property. But viewing a situation through this lens dehumanizes the situation. It leads to situations where we can, with a straight face, describe human settlement as clutter to be disposed of. Indeed, alternative metrics of value exist which add nuance to the situation. Sentimental or cultural value, for example, may be entirely at odds with economic value. Were a city to grow and encompass sacred Native American land, would it not be fair to consider such interests alongside those of the capital class? What about a family with ancestors... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the crucial assumptions underlying the paper s analysis is that a redevelopment effort will necessarily create positive economic value. But what if it does not? Kelo serves as a perfect example. What was supposed to be a profitable facility is currently an empty lot collecting storm debris. At least with eminent domain , voters have some form of cathartic recourse. They can vote out the individuals who made the decision to condemn their homes for an ultimately disastrous product. In a callable fee or floating fee situation, voters have little ability to seek redress, instead nurturing feelings of political disenfranchisement and anti establishment resentment. Further, the threat of losing their seats incentivizes politicians to carefully examine any proposed development and only exercise their power when reasonably sure of its success, minimizing potential mishaps. Thus, voters are both empowered and incentives are put in place to encourage careful decision making concerning development

The only problem was that the Indians lived there. In addition, the government decided to move them to reservations that were small and farming was not possible because the land was dry. The Indians fought for their lands and some of those battles were the Battle of the Little Bighorn, Wounded Knee, and the Sand Creek Massacre. Furthermore, after the Indians lost, the government gave them the opportunity to become and live like white settlers. For that, they will have to give up on their culture, traditions, and language. Furthermore, while the Plain and Indian Wars was going on, in the Wild West Billy the Kidwas becoming a legend. In short, like every legend there had to be an end. The Importance Of Free Speech In Higher Education American society identifies itself as a society where freedom and equal opportunity for learning and expressing new ideas are abundant and unthwarted. The free speech principle, or the principle that all speech and ideas should be able to move freely without being impeded on by government or an institution, is a principle American society has taken many steps to solidify and safeguard. Despite our best efforts, differentiating ideas and free speech continue to be segregated in favor of popular opinion especially in higher education. Often times, students along with public speakers and professors are silenced on campusbecause of conflict with the public s sentiment. This obstruction of the basic American value of free speech in higher educationcomes with a detrimental cost to liberal education and the free flow of ideas. Liberal education (the idea that education should promote all ideas or beliefs) is designed for students to explore the vastness of the world and its many ideas. Generally students who explore new fields and majors through education feel a desire to promote these newfound ideas, especially if it involves politics, on their college campus. Whether it be through a group, a club, or a form of media, students have the ability to spread mass amounts of information and ideas to both open and unopened minds. But even with the Constitutional right that protects these students ability to showcase new and different ideas, this right is often times impeded on

Once upon a time I believe when you die you stay in the ground and your soul would stay there as well. I couldn t imagine that there was a hell, heaven (paradise to some) or even a purgatory. That all change a few month ago when I learn that some people and some religion might believe what they want to. In this essay I have picked three religion Islam, Judaism, and Christianityto explain what each of them have and to be able to show the similarity and difference among them about the afterlife. • 12. Analysis Of Siddhartha s Journey From Corrupt... Initially written in German and published in 1922, Siddhartha is Herman Hesse s most notable work. Hesse s transition from a tumultuous life, marked by the serious illness of his son, emergence from his turbulent marriage, chaotic involvement in a political conflict, and his participation in the first world war, into a peaceful life in a Swiss village is mirrored in Siddharthas journey from corrupt desperation to inner peace. The central theme of the novel, which follows a young man in approximately 625 B.C. traveling throughout India in search of enlightenment, is experience is the only true way to gain understanding. Hesse utilizes syntax, shifts in tone, compare and contrast, and figurative language in this excerpt to convey this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This emphasizes that this is the resolution to the novel s primary conflict and a notable character development for Siddhartha. The tone of this scene starkly contrasts the dark and despairing tone of Siddhartha s initial arrival on the riverbank and his subsequent suicide attempt. Lighter, and infused with Siddhartha s refound joy, this section begins with the loss of his regret over his years spent gambling and partaking in more carnal pleasures. While the diction at points is still negatively connotated the tone overall remains light, relegating such feelings to the past. With the statement it is a good thing to experience everything for oneself, which one needs to know, (Hesse 98). Hesse conveys to the reader that the so called mistakes of the past are not to be condemned but rather accepted as a needed stepping stone towards your destiny. By using one rather than Siddhartha continuing to speak in the first person the statement seems to be not only directed at Siddhartha but to the reader themselves. Siddhartha considers this transformation, thinking to himself If this bird within him had died, would he have perished? No, something else from within him had died, something which he had long desired should perish, (Hesse 99) illustrating that what he thought was joy dying was, in fact, the loss of the part of himself which he has tried to abandon since childhood, which offers a sense of relief and
  • 13. The Pros And Cons Of The NFL Protests The NFL protests started back in 2016 with Colin Kaepernick. He quietly started sitting during the anthem, and eventually kneeling, to protest police brutality. He said that he would not stand to show pride for a flag that oppresses black people. Other players soon joined the movement, and fans criticized them because they said that they were disrespecting the United States. The protests really blew up this year after President Donald Trump said that NFL players that are kneeling should be fired, and he even called them sons of b*****s. After this, many NFL players and teams started to kneel and lock arms during the National Anthem, and some even stayed in their locker rooms during the National Anthem. Protests have continued for weeks, and this has divided fans. Many fans support the players decisions, but many also do not support them, and have threatened to boycott the NFL. This led to Roger Goodell, the League Commissioner, to send a letter to all the NFL teams asking them to stand for the National Anthem. A few Sundays ago, Jerry Jones, the Dallas Cowboys owner, threatened to bench any Cowboys players that didn t stand for the National Anthem. President Trump supported his views, and went further to say that Colin Kaepernick should have been suspended for kneeling last year. This led to debates about what laws the protests are protected under, and whether the NFL and its owners can legally stop them or not. The First Amendment protects free speech, but only

Syme later tells Winston that by 2050, earlier, probably all real knowledge of Oldspeak will have disappeared. The whole literature of the past will have been destroyed. Chaucer, Shakespeare, Milton, Byron they ll exist only in Newspeak versions, not merely changed into something different, but actually changed into something contradictory of what they used to be (Orwell 139). The party s methods of surveillance are stringent and flexible through the implementation of telescreens, cameras, and manned patrols. As Winston was returning home from work one day, a helicopter skimmed down between the roofs, hovered for an instant like a bluebottle, and darted away again with a curving flight. It was the police patrol, snooping into people s windows (Orwell 94). Families could be enjoying dinner or doing work, but the party is only concerned with limiting any kind of rebellion towards Big Brother, a policy that has embodied all of Oceania s regulations. Of course, these brainwashed citizens may think nothing of it, but snooping deeply splinters the privacy of the people. In Oceania, one cannot realistically love someone else in respect to the party s rules. Acts of sex, for example, are done in secret by Winston and Julia in fear of being caught by the all seeing Big Brother. As a result, the totalization of surveillance of Party members, not only does private life come to an end, but so does the possibility of sexual desire as truly liberating (Fitzpatrick). Winston realizes that the act of sex itself is rebellious and uses it to motivate him in devoting his mind and heart with fighting the oppressive party. Especially with his position working for the party, Winston knows he is at an increased risk of being caught, but does not care and takes pride in this liberating act. The party also manipulates young and innocent children into working to fulfill the principles of the party. Syme tells Winston that Nearly all children nowadays were horrible. What was worst of all was that by means of such organizations as the Spies they were systematically turned into ungovernable little savages, and yet this produced in them no tendency whatever to rebel against the discipline of the Party. On the contrary, they adored the Party and

This paper will advocate why the United States Air Force is prepared to remain the dominant air force of the future due to the capabilities of the F 35. It will discuss the Air Force s aging fourth generation fighters and the need for something new, followed by the argument of why the capabilities of fourth generation aircraft are viewed as better than the F 35. Finally, this paper will argue why the F 35 is the plane that will make the Air Force the dominant air power of the future. 2. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The future of air combat does not lie within how many ordinances a plane can carry, the size of its gun, or the amount of time it can stay in the air; but rather how quickly, easily and precisely it can accomplish these tasks. The F 35 has automated systems that allow the pilot to concentrate on mission planning, while the very low observable (VLO) stealth technology allows the plane to enter the combat zone undetected and take out the enemy s ground fortifications.11 While the A 10 can only fly in uncontested environments and the F 16 is easily captured on enemy radars, the F 35 can fly in undetected using VLO and drop fifth generation ordinances with remarkable accuracy. Furthermore, when the major ground threats have been eliminated, the F 35 is capable of putting on exterior armaments including an additional Gatling gun for close air support and a mixture of air to ground and air to air ordinances.12 Dave Deptula, the head of the Air Force Association s Mitchell Institute, stated fifth generation aircraft are not fighters , they are sensor shooters optimized for different threat regimes, and can perform the roles of F, B, A, RC, E, EA and AWACS aircraft of the past. 13 The F 35 is the future of the United States Air Force. 5. This paper advocated why the United States Air Force is prepared to remain the dominant Air Force of the future due to the capabilities of the F 35. • 17. Sharecroppers Cycle Of Poverty Essay Reconstruction was a failure because although the North had promised to free all slaves from slavery, they had failed to restrain the South from coming back to a system similar to slavery. Right after the South had been readmitted into the US, many of the plantation owners had been afraid that they would become broke, as they had nobody to till their large fields. At the same time, many of the newly freedmen were having trouble finding jobs and making a living. Therefore, in order to benefit both freedmen and plantation owners, came a farming system called sharecropping. (History Alive, 315). In order to pay off the debt, many of the sharecroppers ended up working for their masters for the rest of their lives. The white landowners arranged things so that most sharecroppers could not make enough money. Sharecropping had turned into another way for plantation owners to get free labor just like slavery. Sharecroppers were forced to do the same work as before and barely benefited. They no longer benefited from sharecropping as they had wanted to. College Is a Waste of Time and Money Essays Hayley Drummond Professor Dill Tuesday, Thursday 8:00 9:15 Essay # 1 Summary September 10, 2011 Caroline Bird s essay College is a Waste of Time and Money explains her beliefs on why, for some people, going to college is an ineffective and inefficient use of their time. She states that many students do not belong in college because they are there for the wrong reasons and they are not happy learning. She also gives evidence to suggest that going to college and getting a degree does not actually allows a person to make more money in their life time. Her final claim is that college does not prepare most students for the real world and the jobs they will have once they graduate. Bird believes most students are not in college for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bird s second point is that, contrary to popular belief, college is not the best monetary investment a young person can make. Bird explains this by comparing the money that would be spent on education versus money that is put in a bank for interest. The outcome shows investing money that would otherwise be spent on a college education would earn over half a million dollars more than the earnings of a male college graduate compared to a non graduate. Bird also states that even if a graduate makes more money in their job than a non graduate, there is no evidence that the higher income is due to their college education. She attributes financial success to luck rather than a college education. In this argument she mainly puts forth logical reasons why college is not for everyone. She shows actual dollar amounts that logically prove an education is not necessarily the most profitable investment. Bird s final point is that college does not prepare most people for the jobs they are going to have in the future. She states the work attached to most jobs is totally unrelated to their college education. For example, although there are many graduates with a psychology degree, there are only so many jobs in psychology. The remaining graduates are forced to find jobs with work unrelated to the degree they have obtained. Also, she brings up the point that college does not make people intelligent and successful, but successful and intelligent people go to

It is considered to be one of the finest illustration of a mannerist garden design since its elements style are exaggerated in their art. HISTORY The construction of the site started in 1566 by two bishop men who followed each other; the first one was Gian Francesco Gambarra, and the second was Alessandro Montalto. The combination of Gambarra, a mature man, and Montalto, an adolescent, would produce one of the strangest Italian villa and park. This garden was at first a preserved hunting park, but after realizing the Cardinal s dream, it got converted into magnificent landscaped grounds that we find today. This work was mainly attributed to one of the great architects of the 16th century, Giacomo Barozzi, known as Il Vignola . Changes in demographic trends, such as the aging population, the increased presence of minority groups, and rising fertility rates are very much present within our nation, making the need for healthcare providers to adapt their care to fit the entire population. This includes implying that one is ugly, stupid, fat, etc., and this personal approach causes the victim to have further self confidence issues and to believe that the abuse is their own fault (Stosny). On the other hand, physical abuse tends to make it likely for the victim to realize that the abuser has a problem, rather than themselves. They are also keeping the child s sex a secret, although it is not clear if they are trying to allow the child to define its sex. Gender and sex are two different distinctions that are often mistakenly seen as the same thing. Society places genderexpectations based on sex, so it s easy to see why they are looked at as the same thing. It s important to remember that gender represents a choice, while sex is determined before you are born. The option of choosing is important when considering the ethics of raising a child. It s why I believe that it is ethical to allow a child to define their gender and unethical to allow a child to define their sex. There are three common arguments against allowing a child to define their gender. The first common argument is that the child will bullied and may not be mature enough to handle it. Unfortunately, children can be bullied for a number of reasons regardless of their gender. Parents do not allow bullying to affect other decisions and they should not allow bullying to interfere with who their child wants to be either. It is he one doing the bullying that has a problem, not their child. The second common argument against allowing a child to define their gender is that friends and family will disapprove. However, there is always someone who will disapprove of any decision you make. Voting, eating meat, sexual

Though personal information about his life is non existent and like the other synoptics, the author does not clearly identify himself within the text. Luke uses an extensive prologue to introduce his gospel, which is not seen in the other gospels. Luke 1:3 4 says with this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught. This formal introduction is not only Greek in nature, setting out the subject, purpose, method and audience, but is addressed to Theophilus, a name that means Lover of God or friend of God. This could be an individual, as it was a name given to men of authority or it could have simply been addressing every Christian. Here he writes to inform Theophilus of his intention, which is to lead the reader through an account of events, this was not to justify the Christian belief, but to encourage the faith of those who did believe. What makes Luke so interesting is that it is the only gospel to have a sequel, which is the book of Acts. It is believed that Luke and Acts were written as a two part volume, with the style of writing and length being similar. Acts even begins by Luke addressing Theophilus, In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach. (Acts

In her blog Confessions of a Whistleblower, Mary Willingham an academic advisor from the University of North Carolina, revealed that the athletes in the most successful college teams are given paper classes to replace real classes. These paper classes are classes that do not require students to attend class. Their only assignment is to turn in a paper at the end of a semester and are 100 percent of the time graded A or B. This array of responses, combined with a plethora of repercussions, demonstrates how incredibly influential Uncle Tom s Cabin truly was. The book fueled anti slavery forces in the North while simultaneously igniting a fire of fury in the South; abolitionists, pro slavery advocates, and African Americans all emphatically voiced their opinions about the book and its anti slavery message. Additionally, Uncle Tom s Cabinhas often been associated with the beginning of the Civil War; it brought to light the fact that the North and South could not continue peaceably living in persistent disagreement on vitally important topics such as slavery. Through incredible storytelling abilities, Harriet Beecher Stowe conveyed to her readers the cruelties of enslavement, the injustices of numerous pro slave laws, and the desperate need for the abolition of thraldom in our country. • 42. Impact Of Reconstruction On African American Equality The fight for African American equality has been present throughout the course of American history. In the years following the Civil War, tensions were high between the two races, allowing for a series of issues to arise. The Reconstruction Era addressed the inequality and attempted to provide aid to the struggling African Americans, however many factors limited the government s ability to do anything. Reconstruction failed in its goals to provide social, political and economic equality for African Americans in the years following the Civil War. Reconstruction tried to address the challenges that African Americans were facing, but racism was still rooted in these efforts. In the years following the Civil War, a majority of white Americans still continued to support white supremacy which lead to African Americans being denied of power, wealth and position (Gillette 191). Denial of equality for African Americans led to an improvement in government intervention. The Civil Rights Act of 1860 was enacted but failed to address big civil rights issues, such as segregation, for African Americans (Gillette 197). • 45. China s Political Influence On Foreign Policy China s Indo Pacific neighbors, notably Japan, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, India and Australia, seem nervous about China s rapidly rising military threat strength and aggressive stance in foreign policy. Is China perceived as a military threat by these states? What measures have these states taken or are contemplating to deal with the Chinese threat? China s military rising has led to China s power in the East Asia region and concerns about China s power in the Indo Pacific region. Many scholars believe that when a state becomes powerful, it will defiantly seek greater regional political influence and consequently worldwide political influence. This influence will result in the change of the power structure in the region and eventually lead to a long term security danger. According to the power structure scholars, the history of international relations supports this argument. In the period between two World Wars, Germany became a powerful state and turned out to be the threat to the security of the West Atlantic region and finally caused the World War II. In addition, before the World War II Japan was a rising power and caused the Pacific war in the 1930s and 1940s (Jiangye2002,57). However, opponents claim that China as a rising power has not followed the examples of Germany and Japan because the international system has been changed. Opponents also believe that in the traditional international system the national interests of a rising power were to conflict and

It is a textbook account of much of the Native American experience in the era of European contact through the western expansion years early in United States history. It is comprehensive to a point, it does not completely tell the history of every tribe that had contact with the white people and the American government. What it does cover, to the best of my knowledge, is historically accurate. Being an historical account it reports the events from a historian s perspective. Although it is somewhat biased, it is from a Native American historian s perspective, it doesn t attempt to dramatize the history. The text is pragmatic. The stating of the facts is boring and almost tedious in places throughout the book. It contains no dialogue with the exceptions of quotes meant to give credence to an account. There are parts of the book that, to me, read like the bible book of Genesis, as it gives names and family stories in a similar fashion. An example of this can be found in chapter 7 which reads: Among them were Tall Bull, White Horse, Gray Beard, Bull Bear, and other Dog Soldier chiefs. The great war leader Roman Nose also went along, and so did the two half breed Bent brothers. ...Among the few who did was George Bent.
