Similarities Between Harlem And The Weary Blues
The two poems entitled Harlem and The Weary Blues where both written in the time if the
Harlem renaissance. The Harlem Renaissance was time when the people expressed their selves
and the hardships and the reality of their times. The two poems are similar in a way. They both
take place in Harlem and are both written by Langston Hughes. They both describe some type of
sad but energetic tone, also known as blues. They also tell a story and allows you to visualize
the senses and story. These poems both take place in the city of Harlem. The first poem entitled
Harlem , gives it away. The weary blues also takes place in the city. In the poem it says on the
first stanza in line one and two Here on the edge of hell stands Harlem . What part of Harlem? It
doesn t say. In the poem The Weary blues It states in stanza two, line one Down on Lenox Avenue .
Now Lenox is a street in Harlem. Both these poems are published by Langston Hughes.... Show

In Harlem you heard someone playing some type of jazz, telling their story, sharing their
emotions. The first poem The Weary Blues in stanza one it says Droning a drowsy syncopated
tune, rocking back and forth to a mellow croon, I heard a Negro play. The word syncopated
means a displacement of beats or accents in music or a rhythm so that strong beats become
weak and vice versa. It also tells a story from a black mans soul as stated in stanza 15. The next
poem called Harlem says in stanza 10 We remember . Now this story talks about the feeling s
blacks or colored and how they still remember slavery. In both poems they use some form of

Analysis Of The Storm By Kate Chopin
Kate Chopin in the Storm utilizes imagery in characters to build up the theme of love through the
perspective of sex and infidelity. The short story The Storm by Kate Chopin, manages the theme of
adultery. The story happens in the late 1800s. There are two fundamental characters, the spouse,
Calixta, and the previous significant other, Alcee. The short story, The Storm by Kate Chopinis
about a romantic lovethat would never be until the point when it quickly was. The point that
Chopin was attempting to get crosswise over was that Calixta and Alcee had a solid enthusiasm for
each other, and maybe loved one another, yet they would never have had the chance being in
separte social classes. It is an enthusiastic, yet concise affair between two wedded individuals from
various social classes that happens amid a storm in Louisiana around 1898. All through the story the
consistent changing of symbolism assumes an extraordinary part in the advancement of characters
and their capacity to accomplish the theme.
In spite of the fact that there is a physical in the story, there is likewise a storm of emotions.
Chopin can pass on the behaviors of her characters all through the story in light of the fact that the
storm that happens at the earliest reference point of her story. As the storm approaches Calixta is
home sewing, while spouse Bobinot and child Bibi are out at the store. Bobinot sees the dismal
mists that were moving with evil aim from the west, joined by a grim,

Exchange Traded Funds
Internationally, the flow of capital across national borders and into markets once believed to be
impregnable is occurring at the speed of light. Technological innovation, accessibility to
international market economies, and increased globalization has expanded the universe of
securities available for investments and more importantly portfolio diversification. The
developments mentioned above questions traditionally accepted principles by investors who
believed that investing solely in U.S. securities would result in a better risk return tradeoff. Prudent
investors have known that diversifying across industries and markets will lead to a given level of
expected return at a significantly lower level of risk, and vice versa. However, the advantages of
such diversification are limited due to the same cyclical economic fluctuations that all assets (or
companies) in a particular country are exposed to. The availability of a universe of assets
internationally, and accessibility to these assets and the markets where they trade has opened a
plethora of opportunities to investors across borders who seek diversification accompanied by
return maximization and corresponding risk reduction through international portfolio investments.
Moreover, the limiting effects of economic cycles on assets in a particular country can now be
hedged through international portfolio formation and investing that incorporates the advantage of
cross country diversification in nations whose economic cycles

Conductive Polymers Are A Specific Section Under The Broad...
Conductive polymers are a specific section under the broad range of polymers, that have the
ability to effectively conduct electricity. They were discovered by accident in a lab by Hideki
Shirakawa in 1974, yet their potential applications were not understood until early 2000s. They are
made by doping with n type and p type which forces electrons to move throughout the material
which normally would not happen because of a polymer molecular structure. They provide many
advantages over metals because of they are light weight, cheap, and functional versatile. Conductive
polymersare frequently used with rechargeable batteries, sensors, and light displays. Lastly, they
have a bright future with the world turning towards wanting more technology that is light weight
and integrated in the day to day functions.
A typical polymer is a very ductile, cheap, and light material that cannot handle high temperatures or
electrical conductivity. Polymers are generally used for plastic bags and bottles, crates, toys, and
insulation on electrical cables. Electrical conductivity is usually found only in metals because of
its small to nonsexist band gap between the filled and empty bands. Electrons are able to move
freely between the bands which is the current allowing everything to work. Polymers have a large
enough band gap that makes it very difficult for electrons to go between the bands. Large amounts
of energy would be needed to force electrons across this gap. However, with the addition

Advantages Of Securitisation In Nigeria
This paper seeks to discuss securitisation as a viable, and an alternative way of raising additional
capital for business organisations. Business organisations and other corporate entities require
substantial capital to grow and expand their ventures. When the financial resources of a business
entity are stretched to the limit, equity capital is scarce and therefore expansion is stalled.
Therefore, in order to improve their financial liquidity, the shareholders may not be ready to
relinquish their holdings by issuing stocks to the public. Hence, they have resorted to innovative
ways of raising additional capital with minimal cost. Securitisation has been found to be a
convenient way of raising funds by transforming unmarketable assets/receivables into tradable
securities through the instrumentality of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). For this reason, the
securitisation market has continued to grow. Securitisation has witnessed exponential growth from
a non existent industry in 1970 to $6.6 trillion as of the second quarter of 2003. As it has been
revealed in numerous instances, SPVs have been put to various use by... Show more content on

C20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 (hereafter referred to as CAMA), therefore the
relationship between a SPV and the originator in Nigeria would be determined by the Act. In
Nigeria, Sections 336(1) and 338 of CAMA are relevant to the determination of the relationship
between corporate bodies as it relates to group accounting, holding and subsidiary respectively.
The examination of the Section would give an insight to the meaning of a subsidiary in the
context of the Act. Section 338(1) of CAMA provides that a company shall be deemed to be a
subsidiary of another, if that other company (parent company) is a member of it and controls the
composition of its board of directors or it holds more than half of its nominal value of its equity

Crossing Flies to Demonstrate Inheritance Patterns
Introduction
Drosophila melanogastor were one of the first organisms chosen to be analyzed and study, since
they are the work force of the genetics research. Back in the early 1900s, researchers such as T.H.
Morgan, H.J. Muller, E. Weischaus, and C. Nisslein Volhard were able to use the organisms to
determine how genes are inherited, how radiation causes DNA damage, and there are genes that
controls human development. In 2000, scientists found over a hundred genes that can be used to
study human diseases because they found a way to sequence the drosophila genome. This organism
has been used for scientific research for decades and is continued to be used because they help
scientists and researchers understand how human processes and their disorders. With the
experiment, crossing the flies is to demonstrate the inheritance pattern of a single and double trait.
Studying and manipulating fruit flies, scientists are able to learn about the human genetics and
understand the function in biology of other organisms. Drosophila can demonstrate Mendelian
inheritance because they can display massive amounts of genes, demonstrate genetic mapping, and
used as genetic crosses. Being able to study these organisms across multiple generations and
understand its life cycle would help with understanding basic genetic concepts, such as trait
inheritance. Learning how to control the breeding is important as well, since interbreeding or
mixing the generations would cause insufficient data.

Section 8 Housing Subsidy Program
In order to help meet housing needs for struggling families, the United States Government, through
the Housing and Urban Development (HUD), provides benefits to help those families pay rent
and support their own homes through the Section 8 Housing Subsidy Program. Carlson, Haveman,
Kaplan, and Wolfe (2011) found that an estimated 5.2 million Americans rely on the housing
vouchers, and the vouchers help very low income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford
decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market (p. 233). The family or individual is able
to lease a rental home with the help of the voucher and the voucher amount depends on the family s
income. The Section 8 Housing Subsidy Program not only provides a home for families

Media Bias
The media today has become a topic of concern for many members of the general population. Am
I getting a reliable source of information? Is this source withholding the truth and ameliorating a
topic? If I know that the information being reported is false, how can I trust that any other
information from this source can be trusted? These are several questions that a particular citizen
might make on a day to day basis, and when the question of bias is thrown into the mix, an
overwhelming feeling of mistrust in our media can ensue. Media sources today are siding more and
more towards their viewers political views, and this creates a form of media bias that can spread
untrustworthy information out into the public. Depending on your media source,... Show more

Many members of the general public have caught onto the ruse of mass media outlets, and are
starting to not trust them. A Gallup poll from the somewhat recent year of late 2016 has shown
that Americans trust in mass media has fallen to a record setting low. For the general
population, only 32 percent of Americans trusted the media outlets reports with a great deal of
trust or a fair amount of trust . A deeper look into the polling shows that only 14 percent of
population who classify as Republican trust the media a great deal or a fair amount. This could
be due to the bias against Republicans in certain media sources, or it could fall into something
deeper. As for age groups, ages 18 49 have shown 26 percent in the same trust rating, while 50
and older shows 38 percent. The difference in percentages due to age are most likely due to the
technological fluency of younger generations. Better understanding of technology can allow for a
person to dig deeper into what is true or false in the media

The Time Before The First Millennium
The time before the traditional Renaissance has long been described as a period of stagnation,
violence and irrationality. Yet, as more information emerges about this time period, we find that it is
not so. While the time before the first millennium was arguably adequately termed the Dark Ages,
the 12th century marked a great period of improvement in thought, architecture, literature and many
other facets of society. In order for the Renaissance of the 12th century to occur, problems that
persisted through the Dark Ages had to be resolved to promote all of these growths. These
problems include decentralization of government, lack of a stable food supply and numerous
invasions. Perhaps the greatest obstacle to the growth seen in the 12th century was decentralization
of government. Under states of disorder and chaos, like the time after the fifth century, culture has
the tendency to stagnate and uneasiness sweeps over the people. The monarchs around this time
had difficulty holding supremacy over their kingdoms and held little control over the nobility
(especially when compared to times like the 15th century). This was a major obstacle to growth of
kingdoms and had to be overcome before the growth of the 12th century could be realized. After the
fall of the Roman Empirein the fifth century and the preceding weakening of the empire, provinces
previously dominated by the Romans fell apart into chaos when the Roman soldiers who were
enforcing order left to defend Rome against

Demian Linder Interview
For this interview paper, I decided to interview Demian Linder, a senior software engineer at
Kodak Alaris. Demian is a friend of a friend who graciously gave me time to interview him in his
busy life and I am glad he did. I learned a lot about software engineering and how college will
help me succeed in the upcoming years. I learned what I should expect in the coming years and I
did my best to document the conversation. Demian Linder went to college at SUNY Brockport to
become a orthopedic surgeon. Towards his senior year, he decided he didn t want to go to
school for that long and used his minor in math to do something new. He ended up going to RIT
after his time at Brockport. After college, he worked at Kodak for fourteen years before getting
another job at Odyssey software in 2008. In 2014, he became a senior software engineer at
Kodak Alaris. As a senior software engineer, he works on many software systems and with many
languages. As for technologies employed, there are many as well. He works with Microsoft
Stack, Azure, IIS, C++ or C# (C# being the language of choice), Oracle SQL, database backends,
web services, web api, and wcs services. For testing, he uses code clearcase dealing with saving
and version control for software. He uses oracle 11i as well as javascript and Microsoft in the
cloud. As for configuration management, he uses f.config files within azure document databases as
well as api document. He also uses database clearface and even google docs. Although

As a viewer of the short film, In a Heartbeat , I experienced through a generation of a never ending
swirl of feelings that at times left my heart completely shattered, while at others, sent my heart
soaring in contentment for characters I have bonded with over the duration of merely 4 minutes. I
was able to understand and appreciate the thoughtfulness of these accumulated feelings that
encloses the matter of universal love. Without the use of words means that anyone from any country

producers were able to convey a bittersweet and touching tale that potentially could surpass the

Throughout the film, a very powerful message was communicated towards the audience which was
reflected off of symbolic traits. One form of symbolism that stood out was the personification of the
heart. The heart represents the intense emotions the main character feels; the desire to near the
supporting character. The message conveyed is that your emotions can neither be controlled nor
restrained, as they are stronger and will lead you to the yearned for person. It indicates that
everything happen for a reason, and that resisting against something which is bound to happen
will only convolute situations, as this is evidently shown in the film. Further exploration can be
done when the heart was physically broken. It represents loss, grief, misery and is showcased
when each character holds half of the heart with dejected expressions. Additionally, another
symbolic representation is the apple. In my opinion, the supporting character couldn t have been
able to spin the apple that way, and I believe producers have made it this way done this for a
reason. It shows that regular actions or physical appearances are sugarcoated when we see those we
idolize. The character may realistically not be exceptional to that particular standard, however,

Advantages Of Refrigeration
FABRICATION AND TESTING OF ICE PLANT TEST RIG
ABSTRACT
Refrigeration may be defined as the process of achieving and maintaining a temperature below that
of the surrounding, the aim being to freeze to ice, cool some product, or space to the required
temperature. The basis of modern refrigeration is the ability of liquids to absorb enormous
quantities of heat as they boil and evaporate. One of the most important applications of refrigeration
air conditioning is to produce ice for commercial applications with minimum energy consumption.
Ice plant is used for producing refrigeration effect which uses the vapor compression cycle and by
using this cycle we are doing performance and analysis of ice plant test rig using R404A Eco

COMPRESSOR
In this Ice Plant we use the reciprocating compressor. The compressor in which the vapour
refrigerant is compressed by reciprocating motion of piston is known as reciprocating
compressor. The purpose of compressor in the vapour compression cycle is to compress the low
pressure dry gas from the evaporator and raise its pressure to that of condenser. There are two
types of reciprocating compressor, Positive Displacement and Dynamic. In this plant we are using
positive displacement hermetic compressor. Since the compression of the refrigerant requires some
work to be done on it, therefore a compressor must be driven by some prime mover. The prime
mover is an electric motor which converts input electrical energy to useful mechanical work. This
work is transmitted as torque to the compressor through common shaft and coupling

What Are Calvin Coolidge s Achievements

Calvin Coolidge Calvin Coolidge was the 30th president of the United States. Throughout his time
of presidency he effectively improved the United States because of his accomplishments. He
established the Revenue Act, signed the Immigration Act, and signed the Indian Citizenship Act.
Each one of these acts impacted The United States and the people who live in it. These
accomplishments made Calvin Coolidge an effective president of the United States. When Calvin
Coolidge was president he established the Revenue Acts. There was three stages beginning with
the Revenue Act of 1924, then 1926, and 1928. The bill was a tax on wealthy individuals to
avoid paying inheritance tax once their loved ones died. A lot of people felt this was unfair so this
was revoked in the following year. (Alchin, 2017) In 1926, any individual, if ... Show more content

not allowed in the state. Eastern and Southern Europe were not accepted in the United States
because the president was not allies yet with Eastern and Southern Europe. Later on Calvin works
hard to become allies with the Eastern and Southern Europe for them to come in the country and
have the opportunity to work here and get educated here. (History, 2017) This act was actually for
the Jewish, Italian, and Greeks. Also the Japanese and Mexicans could not be in the United States

Italian immigration without segregating against the Japanese. When Congress introduced the bill
they made sure to be careful and to maintain the relationship with the Japanese. (densho.org,

Zoning
Simply put, zoning, in a planning or land use context, is the classification of the land in a
community into districts with different regulations for its utilization. Zoning and other methods of
land use control have evolved with the primary objectives of promoting the health, safety, and
wellbeing of residents while minimizing the negative impacts of one activity or use upon others.
Zoningis effectively a legislative process whereby a community prioritizes values associated with
land, development, and associated activities. A zoning system generally includes map or plan
elements which define areas where like regulations apply, and a textual, usually relatively locally
legislated ordinance, code, or law consisting of definitions and... Show more content on

The final general type of zoning regulation limits the physical and spatial form of development.
Examples of this type include restrictions on building heights, setbacks, road widths, building
materials, and architectural style.
In the first third of the 20th century, the United States saw zoning become an accepted tool in land
use regulation. New York City passed a zoning plan in 1916. This set of rules primarily focused
on building form and setbacks, and included a now routine provision for variances. The New York
law was primarily a response to a technological innovation the skyscraper and the arising concerns
associated with it.
Many States adopted the Standard State Zoning Enabling Acts of 1922, which was offered as a
model by the U.S. Department of Commerce and provided a framework and codified a general
legal basis for zoning across the country. The Department of Commerce also introduced a Standard
City Planning Enabling Act, which was widely adopted beginning in 1928. These acts put into
place the general structure of local and regional planning and zoning which is still used today.
Elements and entities such as the Planning Commission, the Master Plan, subdivision control
measures, and provision for regional planning bodies and plans were primarily introduced by the
Standard City Planning Enabling Act.

Yearly costs make countries go into deep financial debt due to their inability to recover what
they lost. They never recover financially because once they are done recovering from one
disaster another one hits and it becomes a never ending cycle of trying to help one another
recover. In the same article, Tudor points out that, One of the major negative effects is that there
is a reduction of tourism (Tudor). People are too frightened to visit because they are constantly
in fear that another natural disaster may hit. Many countries rely on tourism to help their
economy because of the money they spend in hotels and food and etc. Tourism also helps to
bring in other people into the country to thus help the national government and the population
as a whole. Without tourism the future generations are afflicted down to a personal level with
which the people already living there are going to most likely stay there, keeping the gross
domestic product at a progressively decreasing rate. After the Thai floods, there was a significant

Theme Of Conformity In Anthem
Chapter 8 through the end of Anthem by Ayn Rand brings resolution to conflict of the book and
fully develops motif into theme. The main conflict in this book is without a doubt conformity
versus individuality. This conflict is mainly exhibited by the main character Equality 7 2527 but is
designed in such a way that it represents the conformity of all individuals in a society and the lack
of thinking for one s selfas a result. Chapter 8 in Anthem represents a drastic shift towards
resolution in this conflict because it is during this time that Equality begins to act on his beliefs
rather than just think them. Up to this point, Equality has clearly defied the laws of the described
society in Anthem by pursuing selfinterest which may be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After that first step is taken, people will begin to realize the merits of their situations and
therefore, begin to fight as well. This theme is evident throughout the book as the motif of
individuality is so prevalent but it only really becomes clear once the main character begins to
act on his beliefs. Character development also takes many large strides in this section. Equality s
actions during his meeting with the Council of Scholars were rash and perhaps even radical.
Now however, we begin to see his logic in his actions. This all shows the fact that he is
beginning to think for himself more than ever and is therefore becoming an individual rather
than a monotonous member of the collective. This all comes back to the major conflict of the
book: Equalities search for a life in which he can exhibit nonconformity and live in any way he
chooses. The conflict is fully resolved after Equality and Liberty find a small house hidden from
the rest of society which is from the Unmentionable times , a time period similar to our own
which the World Council attempts to hide as best they can because it can be implied that they fear
to lose power over this society. In the final few chapters of the book, Equality learns, through
reading classical texts of the word I . Thus, his journey for individualism and nonconformity is
completed and his conflict is resolved. Rand writes:

organs, it is from an imbalance of stroke volume and heart rate. When a person experiences a
myocardial infarction or continuous hypertension, the contractility of the heart decreases which
directly influences the stroke volume. The stroke volume is the amount of blood pumped out of
the heart per contraction so if that decreases, so does the cardiac output which decreases
perfusion of the organs (Huether and McCance, 2012). Diastolic heart failure in the left side is
when the ventricle has trouble filling to its full capacity which is usually caused by a stiffening
or loss of contractility of the ventricle. Right sided heart failure is often times a response to left
sided heart failure. When the left side of the heart has failed, the blood backs up into the lungs due
to a decrease in output so the blood then backs up into the right side of the heart causing problems
with it too. Heart failure in the right ventricle comes from it not being able to eject an adequate
amount of blood into the pulmonary system (Huether and McCance, 2012).
Clinical Manifestation Symptoms of a patient with congestive heart failure differ depending on the
side of the heart that is not functioning properly. Left sided heart failure

Significance Of Nick Carraway In The Great Gatsby
In the world of the novel The Great Gatsby, there are plenty of meaningful and impacting
characters throughout. Some have big roles and some have little, but none of them reach up to
the standards of the character Nick Carraway. Nick is in fact the foundation of this novel as he is
labeled as the narrator, he helps Gatsby reunite with his true love and he s the only one who knows
the whole true story of what goes on. Though this title of this novel is The Great Gatsby, the
narrator is called Nick Carraway, a man who represents the story as a whole and is the foundation
to the story. Though he is not the main character, the man Gatsby, the man who gives his name to
this book. (Fitzgerald Pg. 6). There is a sole reason why the title is what

Antwone Fisher 3 Essay examples
Antwone Fisher in my opinion is probably the most impactful movie I have ever seen. People
may say, What a good movie but I say what a good man . Antwone Fisher grows up living in a
foster home where he is beaten, mentally and sexually abused. After spending time in an
orphanage he doesn t know what to do with his life. After thinking about it he decides to join the
Navy. The movie picks up with Antwone as a young sailor who has a problem controlling his anger.
Sent to a psychiatrist (played by Denzel Washington) he slowly begins opening up, learning to
confront the past that has fostered his long standing rage. Washington s psychiatrist becomes

I don t know about you but that has to take a lot of courage to uncover your deep dark past. This
movie is filled with fear and courage and most of all the help of others.
There is one part in the movie that really made this movie one of the most impactful movies I have
ever seen. He made a poem and presented it to his psychiatrist. It read:
Who will cry for the little boy lost and all alone
Who will cry for the little boy abandoned without his own
Who will cry for the little boy he cried himself to sleep
Who will cry for the little boy who never had for keeps
Who will cry for the little boy who walked a burning sand
Who will cry for the little boy the boy inside the man
Who will cry for the little boy who knew well hurt and pain
Who will cry for the little boy who died and died again
Who will cry for the little boy a good boy he tried to be
Who will cry for the little boy who cries inside of me
This poem has a true meaning behind it. The meaning of it is of Antwone when he was little. He
would cry himself to sleep. He would get beaten over an over again. It just kept building up and
finally he cried for help on the inside. Luckily he got help from his psychiatrist before it was too
late. The last quote from the movie that made it such an impactful movie was, You are the champ,
you have beaten everyone who has beaten you In the end I think that Antwone Fisher is the most
impacting movie someone will ever see. Throughout

Folk Music Influence On American Culture
There are many things that influence cultures around the world, some of these things being big and
some of these things being small. One of the largest impacts on cultures would be music and poetry.
It seems that these two things, more than anything else, tie people together and give them common
grounds (Earhart). These two things not only have the power to tie people together but they also
have the ability to tear them apart. For example musichas influenced the way people dress, act, and
even talk (Syncrat).
A great example in American history of how music has influenced a culturewould be the rise of folk
music during the 20th century. Among other things The Civil Rights Movement was in full swing
and the largely unpopular war in Vietnam was well underway ... Show more content on

Folk music was also known as music for the masses due to the fact that so many people were
involved in the making and listening to it. When the culture became aware of the negativity
around them and the radical changes that necessary it gave the common folk a need for
expression. Music was not being used for the first time not only a vehicle for expression, but also
as s way to mobilize and inspire the listeners to think differently and take action to change their
conditions (Music s Effects on People and Culture).
There were certain songs that became like anthems for particular generations. Examples of this
would be Bob Dylan s Blowin in the Wind which talks about finding answers to questions, another
would be John Lennon s Imagine which talks about imagining a world without all the negative
things where people love each other instead of hate on another. There were songs that brought
together countries in times of national crisis such as God Bless America. These songs created a
sense that people can relate to one another that no one is out there dealing with things all alone

Keynes vs. Hayek
Macroeconomics is a branch of economics dealing with the performance, structure, behavior, and
decision making of the whole economy. Macroeconomists study aggregated indicators such as GDP,
unemployment rates, and price indices to understand how the whole economy functions. They
develop models that explain the relationship between such factors as national income, output,
consumption, unemployment, inflation, savings, investment, international trade and international
finance.
The two major theories of economics are Classical Economics and Keynesian Economics. Classical

In 1974, Hayek shared the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences (with his political rival,
Gunnar Myrdal) for his pioneering work in the theory of money and economic fluctuations and...
penetrating analysis of the interdependence of economic, social and institutional phenomena . He
considered the efficient allocation of capital to be the most important factor leading to sustainable
and optimal GDP growth, and warned of harms from monetary authority manipulation of interest
rates. Interest rates should be set naturally by equilibrium between consumption of goods or capital
stock. He is considered to be a major economist and political philosopher of the twentieth century.
He was an important contributor to the Austrian school of economic thought. He also contributed to
the fields of systems thinking, jurisprudence, neuroscience and the history of ideas.
These two great thinkers had more in common than it is usually thought, including their idea of
what is a civilized society and how assuming their colleagues economists may be when they
pretend to know . This can be traced in their correspondence. But their views on the monetary
system radically differed. As an article states that Hayek viewed the market as capable to correct
itself, when facing shocks, by taking advantage of competitive forces, and regarded government
and central bankers policy efforts to restore growth as causes of more instability. On the other hand,
Keynes viewed

Epicurus On Fear
Fearing the eternal sleep
When people think about the possibility of death, pain is the most commonly thing that comes to
their mind. For many people they have asked the question what is death to us. Some have stated
that it is not something to fear because it is annihilation and no one can experience death. While
other people have claimed that death is bad because it takes one from all the good in life. I believe
death is something to be feared because it brings many bad experiences to people.
First of all some people have determined that death is not something to be fear. One such famous
philosopher is Epicurus and he claims that death is not bad. One statement made by Epicurus is
that death is not bad, it is the dying part that is bad.

Revolutionary Militia
Continental Army officers often criticized the militia s effectiveness. However, at the Battle of
Saratoga, and during a campaign in 1780, the militia proved to be an essential fighting force. By the
end of the war, General Washington and other officers in command used the continental militia as
support for the regular army, thus proving the militias were a crucial component in achieving
victory during the American Revolution.
The militia was also required to set aside a portion of their soldiers and form them into new, special
companies called minutemen. The minutemen were different from the militia because while the
law required colonists dedicate service in their local militia, the minutemen assembled themselves
from volunteers.
The minutemen were a very small, specifically chosen, elite force required to be extremely mobile
and capable to fight under short time constraints. Minutemen, chosen by militia commanders, joined
this elite group of soldiers. Normally each minuteman was around twenty five or younger and was

Motherhood Is A Major Theme Portrayed By Peter Pan
The idea of motherhood is a major theme portrayed in this novel. Motherhood is having a child
of your on and raising tht child to become the best they can be. Being there to support and love
them when ever they need you to. J.M. Barrie s Peter Pan is a children s story about a boy who
never wants to grow up and become an adult. Although the concept of having a motheris symbolized
throughout Peter Pan, it is motherhood itself that prevents Peter Pan and others from maturing into
responsible adulthood. Peter Pan wants a mother, but at the same time Peter does not trust mothers
because he believes that his birth mother betrayed him. Peter also believes that mothers turn
children into adults. The novel s opening scene is in the nursery of the Darling house, and it also
ends in the nursery. The nursery is very important for the Darling family. It is where John, Wendy
and Michael sleep, and where they are taken care of by Mr. Darling and Mrs. Darling and also
by their dog called Nana. Nana is portrayed as a maid in the novel because the Darlings could not
afford to pay a human to work for them. The fact that J.M. Barrie decides on the nursery for being
the location for both the beginning and the end of the novel is symbolic of the importance of
family life and maternal care in the novel Peter Pan. After the Darling children return back home
from their adventures in Neverland, they come back to the nursery to be taken care of again by
their mother and father. Wendy, which

Transition Into The New Material And Learning Experience
It s unreal that the first semester is already over. As I looked back on the time spent in English
120 I have mixed feelings. It was tough work, and a lot of it but in the long run I truly believe I
have such stronger writing skills. The hard work paid off and has significantly benefitted me. On
the first day of class I said, I hope I can gain the knowledge to write a strong, solid, long essay. I
hope a I can learn to transition into the new material and learning experience.
I believe I completed these goals. I wrote my longest essay in this class and I m proud that I
accomplished that. I would never know what to write before this class to make an essay so long. I
wrote all the essays in this class without even worrying that I wouldn t have enough information. I
find it ironic because my biggest concern was I wouldn t be able to make my essays long enough.
The first two essays were tough but I began to transition into the workload that came along with the
essay and it just became routine. Transition happened on it own through practicing my writing in my
essays. It amazing how much I improved; my first essay I received a seventy two percent and my
last graded one I received an eighty seven percent. Just between those two essays you can see how
my writing skills improved by fifteen percent. Although, my organization skills aren t the best they
have improved so much since the beginning essay. I ve also learnt all types of writing that can be

Essay on Militirization and Modernization in Petrine Russia
Militarization and Modernization in Petrine Russia
In the eighteenth century, the political, economic, and socio cultural fabric of Russian life
underwent important changes. Generally speaking, these changes were indicative of a transition
from an isolated position of Muscovite Russia still ingrained with a mentality characteristic of the
Middle Ages to a new consciousness of modernization and increased westernization. This major
shift in Russian history was the product of broad, deliberate reform, accredited to the reign of Peter
the Great (1694 1725), which ushered in European art, literature, philosophy, and ideas of political
organization and administration. Willingly accepted or not, large scale government intervention

At the same time, others heralded Peter as the beacon of Russia s enlightened future. An increased
sense of nationality appeared in the course of Peter s military developments that were successful in
establishing Russia in Europe.
During Peter the Great s reign, only one year was spent at peace. His rule was therefore
characterized by virtually ceaseless and insatiable military ambition. Beginning with the war
against Turkey in 1695, Peter would wage war against Sweden, Poland, and the Ottoman Empire
as well as express interest in the viability of places such as China and Japan. Peter s foreign
policies were ambitious: he endeavoured to regain territories that were thought to be historically
Russian such as the Baltic States, Poland, and Ukraine; sought access to international waterways;
and aimed to extend and set up Russia s boundaries for defence strategy as well as for a closer
affinity with the Western world. Russia, therefore, become a major player in the international arena
and that was due to Peter s creation and development of a standing permanent army and navy that
were integral to forging Russia into a world power.
Peter s military reforms were a break from Russia s past. Traditionally, Russia relied on a militia
offensive and later the more regimented and structured military unit, the

A rather unique strategy used by American software manufactures helps raise local interest in
stopping software piracy. Companies invest money to begin software corporations in foreign
countries. After a few years, the US companies hope that the new, foreign companies will initiate
their own anti piracy organizations (Weisband 30). Microsoft has led the venture by creating
small software companies to help battle piracy. By doing this, the companies would want to report
piracy because they would be losing money just like American companies are doing now
(Weisband 33). The Software Publishers Association, based in Washington, D.C., was developed to
combat software piracy. As of 1993the SPA has brought more than 1300 court cases against
software pirates. The SPA has a toll free number that has helped catch many pirates and
prosecute them (O Malley 50). The SPA is not merely a law enforcement agency. It meets twice a
year with representatives from software companies. Together they decide how to make their
software better and also how to better serve the consumer. In the spring 1993 conference the SPA
decided that if software packages could develop a standard way to clearly label a software box, the
consumer would immediately know if the program would run well on his computer. This labeling
would help reduce the number of software returns in stores (Karnes 4). Since software stores cannot

Hilton, that the CPPA s definition of child pornographywithstands constitutional scrutiny. The First
Circuit found itself firmly satisfied that it is well within Congress s power to regulate virtual

that the U.S. Supreme Court in Ferber implicitly rejected the regulation of pornography that does
not involve minors. Where the Ninth Circuit had hinged its ruling on the existence of an actual live

The First Circuit explained that The government s interest in addressing these forms of child

the production process. We will not second guess Congress s decision to address the social ills
posed by the various types of virtual child pornography. (United)

The leases for the farmlands of Marylebone Park were signed for 150 years and set to expire
during the year 1811, the same year in which the Regency began. The Regency Era began when
George IV became the Prince Regent in 1811 due to his father King George III s becoming unfit
to rule. The Prince enjoyed living a lavish and extravagant lifestyle and had a desire to create
grandeur in arts and architecture while in power. The Regency may have officially ended in

typically uses very similar forms although details in materials, decoration and movement became
more important in the Regency era. One of, if not the most iconic architects of the Regency

That said the Bratzis were a little hard to swallow due just how ludicrous they are. To the point
where I can t in good conscious call this a true horror film, or even a horror comedy for that
matter. Yoga Hosers is a straight comedy with a few dark comedy moments thrown in. Final
thoughts, Yoga Hosers makes me want to see Tusk even more and makes me upset I didn t go
out of my way to see it in theaters. I was much more hardcore fan of his in the past, and feel that
this film is kind of a return to form Smith. Since the only other horror film I ve seen by him is
Red State, which is a horror film. So if you want to see a Kevin Smith horror film, see Red State. If
you want to see a cheeky tongue in cheek comedy with a ton of call backs to his other films, than
Yoga Hosers is for you.

Socialist law is the official name of the legal system used in Communist states. It is based on the
civil law system, with major modifications and additions from Marxist Leninist ideology. There is
controversy as to whether socialist law ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New legal codes, introduced in 1960, were part of the effort to establish legal norms in
administering laws. Although socialist legality remained in force after 1960, the dictatorial and
utopian trends continued to influence the legal process. Persecution of political and religious
dissenters continued, but at the same time there was a tendency to decriminalize lesser offenses by
handing them over to people s courts and administrative agencies and dealing with them by
education rather than by incarceration.
By late 1986, the Gorbachev era was stressing anew the importance of individual rights in relation
to the state and criticizing those who violated procedural law in implementing Soviet justice. This
signaled a resurgence of socialist legality as the dominant trend. It should be noted, however, that
socialist legality itself still lacked features associated with Western jurisprudence. In particular, the
ultimate control of the legal system lay with the party leadership, which was not democratically
elected by, and therefore not responsible to, the public at large.
[edit] Characteristic traits
Socialist law is similar to common law or civil law but with a greatly increased public law sector
and decreased private law sector.[4] partial or total expulsion of the former ruling classes from the
public life at early stages of existence of each

The Effect of Pesticide Runoffs on the Everglades
The Everglades used to be a very beautiful tourist attraction, but have been largely affected by the
existence of pesticides. However, the majority of pesticides is not specifically targeting the pest
only but they also affect non target plants and animals during their application. The Effect of
pesticide runoffs on the Everglades is destroying one Florida s major tourist attractions due to the
cultivation of sugar cane just to mention one of those responsible and creates a loss of natural
habitat, water pollution, and threatens existence of wildlife. Many pesticides are not easily
degradable; they persist in soil, leach to groundwaterand surface water and contaminate wide

These methods lead to the reduction of chick survival and bird population. The emission of fumes
from the insecticides cuts off the air supply of oxygen which birds initially require to survive.
Farmland bird species is on decline because of ill advised changes in farming techniques. These
include increased agrochemical inputs and loss of mixture farming. In order to preserve the
existence of birds in our environment, the government should generally integrate crop management
techniques. These methods include; selective pesticides, avoiding spraying in during breeding
season and when crops and weeds are in flower, and then minimise spray drift or creation of
headlands. When these methods are put into practice, they can help minimize unwanted effects of
pesticides on farmland birds. Sadly, prospects are not fruitful since the government s plate is full

Few politicians, planners, farmers or scientists have been trained with, or are qualified to pull off
resuscitation of the Everglades. The political influence in this sector is not strong enough to wheel
a new life in the farmland. Considering all of the pressures and demands to implement these simple

Jackson Vs. Andrew Jackson And The Revolutionary War
President s either change the United States for the better of for the worse. Andrew Jackson did
both. At age twelve, Andrew Jackson fought in the Revolutionary War. Jackson was a war hero for
the War of 1812, fought in the Battle of New Orleans, lost the election to John Q. Adams in 1824
because it was a corrupt election. Andrew Jacksonwas a national war hero and shaped the country in
many ways.
After Andrew Jackson became President, he threw a party in the White House for anyone to
attend. Some people camped out on the streets, so they could get into the party. People were found
drunk with alcohol in bathtubs. In total, 10,000 20,000 people attended. Andrew Jackson created
the Spoil System which limited federal jobs to four years. Jackson fired his enemies and hired his
friends and journalists. Jackson also had a backup Cabinet called the Kitchen Cabinet. The Kitchen
Cabinet included Jackson s friends and journalists. They drank whiskey and discussed current
issues. Jackson used the Kitchen Cabinet more than his official Cabinet. Andrew Jackson had an
enormous temper. He dueled, gambled, and fought Indians. Jackson fired 919 people from the
government that did not agree with his beliefs.
Andrew Jackson used his powers as President for granted. He abused his veto power and would
veto any bill that he did not like or that Henry Clay proposed. Jackson vetoed twelve bills in only
eight years. Andrew Jackson vetoed a bill that would give federal funding to build a road in

Analysis Of The Devil In The White City
In the 1890s, the upcoming Columbian Exposition was all that the people of the United States
talked about. Nicknamed World s Fair, it was supposed to lead America through the 20th century
and into the future. The fair was designed in the hopes of outshining the Paris Exposition and its
main attraction the Eiffel Tower, yet no man was able to tell of the trials and tribulation at the fair
and its architects would face in the years leading up to the exposition and in the aftermath of it. The
Devil In The White City, written by Erik Larson, is a nonfiction text that goes in depth into the
murder, magic, and madness that took place during the time of the World s Columbian Expositionin
Chicago. Larson mainly focused on two extremely important people who he believed transformed
the World s Fair. Daniel Hudson Burnham, the leading architect, and director of the fair and the
Urban Serial Killer, Dr. H. H. Holmes, previously known as Herman Webster Mudgett. Throughout
the duration of the text, Larson constantly switches back and forth from the separate, yet
intertwined stories of Burnham and Holmes. Larson explores Burnham s role in the construction of
the fair and Holmes path to corruption. Through the telling of the events that lead up to the fair and
after it, Larson makes the argument that appearances can be deceiving and that the shell of beauty
can hide danger and evil. While Holmes was the obvious devil/serial murderer and Burnham can be
credited with building the White

Cue-Arousal Theory
What Is Aggression
Aggressive behaviour develop where an individual is being praised or rewarded for being forceful.
Being praised or rewarded for such action, can be an encouragement and reinforcement to perform
such behaviour in the future.
According to (Cherry) aggression is the continuous, unacceptable behaviour that can cause physical
and psychological harm to people in general, or objects in out surroundings. It is a behaviour that
is self ascertained with hostility and harmful tones and can be from a normal reaction to a threat, or
can be abnormal because of provocation.
Aggression can be referred to any behaviour that causes hostility, destruction, and/or violence

I think that people can be antisocial and unkind to others and decide that because they are in a
crowd or a group, they can do whatever they desire. In groups, they can make decisions among
themselves to rape and, or kill you. This behaviour would come about because there is no one to
identify you to say you are the one who did this to me.
Individuals of such would go unpunished unless someone from that particular group is willing to
speak out against what was done.
Relative Deprivation Theory
Based on what (Walker and Smith, 2001) said, relative deprivation is the knowledge gained of
being deprived of something that he or she is entitled to get. Relative deprivation talks about
people who are not satisfied when they compare their positions to others and find out that they
have less than their peers or others. When people feel that they deserve more than they have got,
this can cause frustration which will lead to aggression. This occurs when people compare what
they have and it often occurs when conditions are improving and expectations are rising, but are not
met. It can be a temporary behaviour.
People are not aroused to political action as a result not of absolute changes in their material
conditions but of changes relative to the circumstances of those with whom they compare
themselves . Relative deprivation occurs where people or groups see themselves as being treated
unfairly over others

Security Dilemmas In The Peloponnesian War By Thucydides
Besides this classic security dilemma Thucydides describes in Book I Section 23, he also presents
different variations of this realist theory.
In one of them, the Athenians found themselves in the unlikely position to gain a security bonus
could by capturing an external asset. At the eve of the Peloponnesian War, the Athenians stood
before the decision whether or not to take a side in the dispute between Corinth and Corcyra. The
Corcyraeans word the dilemma in the following terms:
To give the briefest summary of the main thrust and the detail of our case, this is what should
convince you not to abandon us. There are three significant navies in Greece: yours, ours, and the
Corinthians . If you stand aside to see two of these amalgamated ... Show more content on

At the same time the already cool relations between Moscow and Washington began to deteriorate
even further. Very quickly two blocks (or in ancient Greek terms ‚leagues ) would form, forcing
every state to make a decision: Either side with the capitalist, western NATO under the leadership
of the USA or the communist, eastern Warsaw Pact under the lead of the USSR. However this arms
race never turned into an actual conflict as both states rather fought proxy wars in Vietnam, Korea
or Angola.
This bi polar system appears to have ended in 1991, leaving the US economically weakened
USSR disintegrated. Ever since the end of the cold war, a multi polar balance of power has been
emerging, based on western Europe, China, Brazil and other new economic superpowers which
can partially offset the combined military and economic power of the USA. In the years to come
this multi polar balance might even shift away from the western world and towards new, unknown
global players like Nigeria or

History Of Mission San Juan Capistrano
The history of Mission San Juan Capistrano is similar to that of two other nearby missions in that it
was relocated to the San Antonio area from East Texas in 1731. Its purpose was also similar to that
of the other missions, namely to convert Native American groups to Christianity, assimilate them
into Spanish society, and promote settlement in the region. In addition to its early history, the
mission compound itself was constructed in a form typical of other San Antonio area missions,
including a church and plaza surrounded by a defensive wall formed from stone Indian quarters.
The compound included other ancillary structures such as a granary, convent, workshops, and other
storage facilities. Today the complex includes the ruins of the second

Methods and tools for studying children
This essay is a continuation to a previous assignment which discussed how attitudes towards
studying children have changed. In this child participation, child voice and consent were identified
as three key principles researchers should aspire to when studying children. This essay therefore
intends to extend upon these principles by identifying an approach and researchtool which will
effectively incorporate all principles within a research study.
The context of the research study is a male adult and male child sat at a potter s wheel modelling
clay. The aim of the study is to observe and assess the child s level of cognitive development
during an interactive period with an adult who is using the technique of scaffolding (Wood, Bruner,

To overcome this problem the child will be encouraged to pause the video at intervals they
wished to talk about, thus the recording becomes more representable of a learning story; as the
child could help to produce still images of the video and place their comments under the
individual pictures. Although time consuming this process is very important as it not only
encourages child participation and strong voice of the child, it also reinforces the authenticity of
the overall research as the perspective of the child is being gained. This is an important factor as
observers do not always interpret observations correctly as people see and interpret things
differently (Hobart and Frankel, 2004) and although it is said the camera never lies, it may be
distorted (Sharman, Cross and Vennis, 2006)
By blending the method of a written narrative with aspects of the mosaic approach not only will a
detailed observation be obtained but arguably an observation with substance; as professionals do
not have to take the evaluation of the observation at face value, the data is there and available for
them to examine. The child actively engaging with the research study also adds another dimension,
as the actual views and actions of the participant are documented, arguably when research is
conducted via surveys, questionnaires and even interviews the data collected is constrained to the

The first poem The Weary Blues in stanza one it says Droning a drowsy syncopated tune, rocking back and forth to a mellow croon, I heard a Negro play. The word syncopated means a displacement of beats or accents in music or a rhythm so that strong beats become weak and vice versa. It also tells a story from a black mans soul as stated in stanza 15. The next poem called Harlem says in stanza 10 We remember . Now this story talks about the feeling s blacks or colored and how they still remember slavery. In both poems they use some form of ... • 3. Analysis Of The Storm By Kate Chopin Kate Chopin in the Storm utilizes imagery in characters to build up the theme of love through the perspective of sex and infidelity. The short story The Storm by Kate Chopin, manages the theme of adultery. The story happens in the late 1800s. There are two fundamental characters, the spouse, Calixta, and the previous significant other, Alcee. The short story, The Storm by Kate Chopinis about a romantic lovethat would never be until the point when it quickly was. The point that Chopin was attempting to get crosswise over was that Calixta and Alcee had a solid enthusiasm for each other, and maybe loved one another, yet they would never have had the chance being in separte social classes. It is an enthusiastic, yet concise affair between two wedded individuals from various social classes that happens amid a storm in Louisiana around 1898. All through the story the consistent changing of symbolism assumes an extraordinary part in the advancement of characters and their capacity to accomplish the theme. In spite of the fact that there is a physical in the story, there is likewise a storm of emotions. Chopin can pass on the behaviors of her characters all through the story in light of the fact that the storm that happens at the earliest reference point of her story. As the storm approaches Calixta is home sewing, while spouse Bobinot and child Bibi are out at the store. • 4. Exchange Traded Funds Internationally, the flow of capital across national borders and into markets once believed to be impregnable is occurring at the speed of light. Technological innovation, accessibility to international market economies, and increased globalization has expanded the universe of securities available for investments and more importantly portfolio diversification. The developments mentioned above questions traditionally accepted principles by investors who believed that investing solely in U.S. securities would result in a better risk return tradeoff. Prudent investors have known that diversifying across industries and markets will lead to a given level of expected return at a significantly lower level of risk, and vice versa. However, the advantages of such diversification are limited due to the same cyclical economic fluctuations that all assets (or companies) in a particular country are exposed to. The availability of a universe of assets internationally, and accessibility to these assets and the markets where they trade has opened a plethora of opportunities to investors across borders who seek diversification accompanied by return maximization and corresponding risk reduction through international portfolio investments. Moreover, the limiting effects of economic cycles on assets in a particular country can now be hedged through international portfolio formation and investing that incorporates the advantage of cross country diversification in nations whose economic cycles ... • 5. Conductive Polymers Are A Specific Section Under The Broad... Conductive polymers are a specific section under the broad range of polymers, that have the ability to effectively conduct electricity. They were discovered by accident in a lab by Hideki Shirakawa in 1974, yet their potential applications were not understood until early 2000s. They are made by doping with n type and p type which forces electrons to move throughout the material which normally would not happen because of a polymer molecular structure. They provide many advantages over metals because of they are light weight, cheap, and functional versatile. Conductive polymersare frequently used with rechargeable batteries, sensors, and light displays. Lastly, they have a bright future with the world turning towards wanting more technology that is light weight and integrated in the day to day functions. A typical polymer is a very ductile, cheap, and light material that cannot handle high temperatures or electrical conductivity. Polymers are generally used for plastic bags and bottles, crates, toys, and insulation on electrical cables. Electrical conductivity is usually found only in metals because of its small to nonsexist band gap between the filled and empty bands. Electrons are able to move freely between the bands which is the current allowing everything to work. Polymers have a large enough band gap that makes it very difficult for electrons to go between the bands. Large amounts of energy would be needed to force electrons across this gap. However, with the addition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Advantages Of Securitisation In Nigeria This paper seeks to discuss securitisation as a viable, and an alternative way of raising additional capital for business organisations. Business organisations and other corporate entities require substantial capital to grow and expand their ventures. When the financial resources of a business entity are stretched to the limit, equity capital is scarce and therefore expansion is stalled. Therefore, in order to improve their financial liquidity, the shareholders may not be ready to relinquish their holdings by issuing stocks to the public. Hence, they have resorted to innovative ways of raising additional capital with minimal cost. Securitisation has been found to be a convenient way of raising funds by transforming unmarketable assets/receivables into tradable securities through the instrumentality of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). For this reason, the securitisation market has continued to grow. Securitisation has witnessed exponential growth from a non existent industry in 1970 to $6.6 trillion as of the second quarter of 2003. As it has been revealed in numerous instances, SPVs have been put to various use by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Crossing Flies to Demonstrate Inheritance Patterns Introduction Drosophila melanogastor were one of the first organisms chosen to be analyzed and study, since they are the work force of the genetics research. Back in the early 1900s, researchers such as T.H. Morgan, H.J. Muller, E. Weischaus, and C. Nisslein Volhard were able to use the organisms to determine how genes are inherited, how radiation causes DNA damage, and there are genes that controls human development. In 2000, scientists found over a hundred genes that can be used to study human diseases because they found a way to sequence the drosophila genome. This organism has been used for scientific research for decades and is continued to be used because they help scientists and researchers understand how human processes and their disorders. With the experiment, crossing the flies is to demonstrate the inheritance pattern of a single and double trait. Studying and manipulating fruit flies, scientists are able to learn about the human genetics and understand the function in biology of other organisms. Drosophila can demonstrate Mendelian inheritance because they can display massive amounts of genes, demonstrate genetic mapping, and used as genetic crosses. Being able to study these organisms across multiple generations and understand its life cycle would help with understanding basic genetic concepts, such as trait inheritance. Learning how to control the breeding is important as well, since interbreeding or mixing the generations would cause insufficient data. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Carlson, Haveman, Kaplan, and Wolfe (2011) found that an estimated 5.2 million Americans rely on the housing vouchers, and the vouchers help very low income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market (p. 233). • 9. Media Bias The media today has become a topic of concern for many members of the general population. Am I getting a reliable source of information? Is this source withholding the truth and ameliorating a topic? If I know that the information being reported is false, how can I trust that any other information from this source can be trusted? These are several questions that a particular citizen might make on a day to day basis, and when the question of bias is thrown into the mix, an overwhelming feeling of mistrust in our media can ensue. Media sources today are siding more and more towards their viewers political views, and this creates a form of media bias that can spread untrustworthy information out into the public. Depending on your media source,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many members of the general public have caught onto the ruse of mass media outlets, and are starting to not trust them. A Gallup poll from the somewhat recent year of late 2016 has shown that Americans trust in mass media has fallen to a record setting low. For the general population, only 32 percent of Americans trusted the media outlets reports with a great deal of trust or a fair amount of trust . A deeper look into the polling shows that only 14 percent of population who classify as Republican trust the media a great deal or a fair amount. This could be due to the bias against Republicans in certain media sources, or it could fall into something deeper. As for age groups, ages 18 49 have shown 26 percent in the same trust rating, while 50 and older shows 38 percent. The difference in percentages due to age are most likely due to the technological fluency of younger generations. • 10. The Time Before The First Millennium The time before the traditional Renaissance has long been described as a period of stagnation, violence and irrationality. Yet, as more information emerges about this time period, we find that it is not so. While the time before the first millennium was arguably adequately termed the Dark Ages, the 12th century marked a great period of improvement in thought, architecture, literature and many other facets of society. In order for the Renaissance of the 12th century to occur, problems that persisted through the Dark Ages had to be resolved to promote all of these growths. These problems include decentralization of government, lack of a stable food supply and numerous invasions. Perhaps the greatest obstacle to the growth seen in the 12th century was decentralization of government. Under states of disorder and chaos, like the time after the fifth century, culture has the tendency to stagnate and uneasiness sweeps over the people. The monarchs around this time had difficulty holding supremacy over their kingdoms and held little control over the nobility (especially when compared to times like the 15th century). This was a major obstacle to growth of kingdoms and had to be overcome before the growth of the 12th century could be realized. After the fall of the Roman Empirein the fifth century and the preceding weakening of the empire, provinces previously dominated by the Romans fell apart into chaos when the Roman soldiers who were enforcing order left to defend Rome against ... • 12. Demian Linder Interview For this interview paper, I decided to interview Demian Linder, a senior software engineer at Kodak Alaris. Demian is a friend of a friend who graciously gave me time to interview him in his busy life and I am glad he did. I learned a lot about software engineering and how college will help me succeed in the upcoming years. I learned what I should expect in the coming years and I did my best to document the conversation. Demian Linder went to college at SUNY Brockport to become a orthopedic surgeon. Towards his senior year, he decided he didn t want to go to school for that long and used his minor in math to do something new. He ended up going to RIT after his time at Brockport. After college, he worked at Kodak for fourteen years before getting another job at Odyssey software in 2008. In 2014, he became a senior software engineer at Kodak Alaris. As a senior software engineer, he works on many software systems and with many languages. As for technologies employed, there are many as well. He works with Microsoft Stack, Azure, IIS, C++ or C# (C# being the language of choice), Oracle SQL, database backends, web services, web api, and wcs services. For testing, he uses code clearcase dealing with saving and version control for software. He uses oracle 11i as well as javascript and Microsoft in the cloud. I was able to understand and appreciate the thoughtfulness of these accumulated feelings that encloses the matter of universal love. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the film, a very powerful message was communicated towards the audience which was reflected off of symbolic traits. One form of symbolism that stood out was the personification of the heart. The heart represents the intense emotions the main character feels; the desire to near the supporting character. The message conveyed is that your emotions can neither be controlled nor restrained, as they are stronger and will lead you to the yearned for person. It indicates that everything happen for a reason, and that resisting against something which is bound to happen will only convolute situations, as this is evidently shown in the film. Further exploration can be done when the heart was physically broken. It represents loss, grief, misery and is showcased when each character holds half of the heart with dejected expressions. Additionally, another symbolic representation is the apple. In my opinion, the supporting character couldn t have been able to spin the apple that way, and I believe producers have made it this way done this for a reason. It shows that regular actions or physical appearances are sugarcoated when we see those we idolize. The character may realistically not be exceptional to that particular standard, however, seeing through the eyes of someone who admires, situations may become ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The most successful studies have been done in only special education classrooms not mixed mainstream classrooms because it is such a time consuming process. Overall, the idea of SST has been life changing to learn about. This is the first time I have really enjoyed and was very in incorporating into my future classroom. This idea will soon be more inclusive and that will be life changing to children who have always felt like outsiders in their teacher eyes but mostly their peers eyes. Advantages Of Refrigeration FABRICATION AND TESTING OF ICE PLANT TEST RIG ABSTRACT Refrigeration may be defined as the process of achieving and maintaining a temperature below that of the surrounding, the aim being to freeze to ice, cool some product, or space to the required temperature. The basis of modern refrigeration is the ability of liquids to absorb enormous quantities of heat as they boil and evaporate. One of the most important applications of refrigeration air conditioning is to produce ice for commercial applications with minimum energy consumption. Ice plant is used for producing refrigeration effect which uses the vapor compression cycle and by using this cycle we are doing performance and analysis of ice plant test rig using R404A Eco friendly Refrigerant. ... The compressor in which the vapour refrigerant is compressed by reciprocating motion of piston is known as reciprocating compressor. The purpose of compressor in the vapour compression cycle is to compress the low pressure dry gas from the evaporator and raise its pressure to that of condenser. There are two types of reciprocating compressor, Positive Displacement and Dynamic. In this plant we are using positive displacement hermetic compressor. Since the compression of the refrigerant requires some work to be done on it, therefore a compressor must be driven by some prime mover. The prime mover is an electric motor which converts input electrical energy to useful mechanical work. This work is transmitted as torque to the compressor through common shaft and coupling Table 2. Zoning and other methods of land use control have evolved with the primary objectives of promoting the health, safety, and wellbeing of residents while minimizing the negative impacts of one activity or use upon others. This set of rules primarily focused on building form and setbacks, and included a now routine provision for variances. The New York law was primarily a response to a technological innovation the skyscraper and the arising concerns associated with it. The Department of Commerce also introduced a Standard City Planning Enabling Act, which was widely adopted beginning in 1928. The main conflict in this book is without a doubt conformity versus individuality. This conflict is mainly exhibited by the main character Equality 7 2527 but is designed in such a way that it represents the conformity of all individuals in a society and the lack of thinking for one s selfas a result. This theme is evident throughout the book as the motif of individuality is so prevalent but it only really becomes clear once the main character begins to act on his beliefs. Character development also takes many large strides in this section. Equality s actions during his meeting with the Council of Scholars were rash and perhaps even radical. Now however, we begin to see his logic in his actions. This all shows the fact that he is beginning to think for himself more than ever and is therefore becoming an individual rather than a monotonous member of the collective. This all comes back to the major conflict of the book: Equalities search for a life in which he can exhibit nonconformity and live in any way he chooses. The conflict is fully resolved after Equality and Liberty find a small house hidden from the rest of society which is from the Unmentionable times , a time period similar to our own which the World Council attempts to hide as best they can because it can be implied that they fear to lose power over this society. Left sided heart failure causes a decrease in cardiac output and can be further classified as systolic or diastolic. When the cardiac output is decreased and can not get enough oxygen to important organs, it is from an imbalance of stroke volume and heart rate. When a person experiences a myocardial infarction or continuous hypertension, the contractility of the heart decreases which directly influences the stroke volume. The stroke volume is the amount of blood pumped out of the heart per contraction so if that decreases, so does the cardiac output which decreases perfusion of the organs (Huether and McCance, 2012). Diastolic heart failure in the left side is when the ventricle has trouble filling to its full capacity which is usually caused by a stiffening or loss of contractility of the ventricle. Right sided heart failure is often times a response to left sided heart failure. When the left side of the heart has failed, the blood backs up into the lungs due to a decrease in output so the blood then backs up into the right side of the heart causing problems with it too. Heart failure in the right ventricle comes from it not being able to eject an adequate amount of blood into the pulmonary system (Huether and McCance, 2012). It was first described by a doctor treating soldiers with cannonball injuries in the Civil War, the syndrome has gone by many names over the past 150 years: Causalgia in soldiers, reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome in civilians, and today CRPS (Lynn Everly). Since there is not a treatment that works for everyone or that eliminates all of the pain CRPS is considered an incurable disease. Common medications used for CRPS are steroids, blood pressure medication, antidepressants, corticosteroids, seizure medication, or opioids. Physical and occupational therapy are used to keep strength and mobility in the affected limb(s). It is important to keep the affected limb(s) moving because CRPS thrives on immobility. The best thing that a person can do for CRPS is to use the affected area as much as possible. Counseling is used help combat the emotional effects of CRPS. Spinal cord stimulation is a typical treatment. This happens by doctors surgically implanting electrodes near the spinal cord to stop the chronic pain signals from reaching the brain. Topical anesthetic creams are made to put on the skin of the infected area so that the treatment absorbs into the skin where it is needed. Surgical sympathectomy is used as well but there is much controversy over this procedure where doctors surgically destroy some of the nerves in the affected area.
