Introduction
The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 encompassed the complicated issues involving civilians with
disabilities in this country. The law has origins dating back to the 20th century and possesses a force
that grew legislation to have a profound effect on future generations. A massive influx of wounded
veterans returning from war created a sudden need for healthcare and benefits assistance for those who
returned with injury or illness. Compensation provided to disabled veterans has come to include
healthcare and treatment. Rehabilitation programs began to take shape and continue to evolve to
include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Veterans Benefits was evaluated due to a push for independent living that encouraged disabled
Americans to leave the hospitals and institutions. A proposed change in 1978 gave way for a need to
examine the issues facing disabled civilians in society and in public places. The goal was to bring
people out of the confinements of their homes and into the community (Haugen, 2008). Many of these
individuals were capable of becoming participating members of society which would in turn alleviate
the growing problem of disabled veterans returning from war. The population reached a level critical
level of overcrowding and inadequate care and inaccessible care for some. The development of plans
for transportation and public facilities was an essential tool to propel the rights and needs of the
disabled to the forefront. A continued focus helped initiate the 1988 Fair Housing Amendment Act to
alleviate the discrimination issues of the disabled (Haugen, 2008). The powerful force created by the
nation s veterans helped enable the revision of the Rehabilitation Act to also include the civilians with
disabilities. The formation of the ADA or Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990 was
groundbreaking in achieving change with regard the individual rights in all aspects of society. Haugen
reports, much of the language and philosophy used in the ADA is borrowed from section 504 of the
Rehabilitation Act (p. 40). The provisions of section 504 eliminate and prevent discrimination in
public services and assure no disabled person is denied the benefit of public transportation (Haugen,

Covert Military Operations Essay
covert military operations, directed by Colonel Oliver North, a well decorated Vietnam War veteran.
North became somewhat of a problematic figure, often bragging of his close relationship to the
President, although office logs from the time show that Reagan never saw North alone, and spoke to
him only once on the telephone. However, Reagan s reasons for forging ahead in this situation, despite
congressional opposition, can best be explained by his remarks in the red tide television speech given
on March 16, 1986. Using Nicaragua as a base, the Soviets and Cubans can become the dominant 15

However, unauthorized steps were certainly taken, albeit by public officials with exemplary records,
who seemingly had noble and moral causes at heart. The Iran Contra affair taught lessons that were
later turned into policy by Reagan when he implemented the Tower Commission s recommendations.
In short, these suggestions stated that no covert operations be conducted out of the White House, that
secret operations involving great risk be reviewed frequently by the President and the National
Security Council, and that good faith be used in order to serve the national interest when differences
existed between the executive and legislative branches of government. Concerning the original Iran
Contra actions, there was never a definitive finding of illegality, despite the five year investigation of
Independent Council Lawrence Walsh and his team of prosecutors. Nicaragua regained democracy,
and Iran began negotiating with the U.S. government on a friendlier

How Did Jewish People Use Military Resistance To The...
The fight for Jewish honor The Jewish population of Europe was about 9.5 million in 1933. In 1950,
after the Holocaust the Jewish population of Europe was about 3.5 million.
The Holocaust, was a genocide during World War II in which Adolf Hitler s Nazi Germany,
systematically murdered some six million European Jews, between 1941 and 1945.
At the time of the Holocaust, Jews used armed and unarmed forms of resistance in order to retain their
humanity.Armed resistance was when the Jewish people fought physically to avenge the slaughter of
so many of their people. One example of this type of resistance was the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. In
April May 1943, Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto rose in armed revolt after rumors that the Germans would
deport the remaining ghetto inhabitants to the Treblinka killing center. (Jewish resisitance article) This
quote shows the acts of resistance at this time were violent. Armed resistance showed how passionate
and strong the Jewish people could be. Another non violent way Jews resisted was through unarmed
resistance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this type of resistance was how the Jews would do certain things they weren t allowed
to by the Germans and then hid it. Students hid their books under their clothing. Jews smuggled books
and manuscripts into many ghettos for safekeeping, and opened underground libraries in numerous
ghettos (Spiritual resistance) That quote shows all the different things the Jews did to keep them going
without a bother to others. These efforts served to reaffirm a Jewish sense of community, history, and
civilization in the face of both physical and spiritual annihilation. Jews resisted in more ways through

Theme Of Friendship In The House Of Cather
In life, there are several things that cannot be bought in a store, such as friendship. There are several
views on the purpose of friendship. The House of Mirth is a novel by Wharton that revolves on Lily
Bart attempting to find a husband as a way to have a successful life and provides insight on upper
class society in the late 1800s and early 1900s. O Pioneers! is a novel by Cather about how Alexandra
Bergson connects to the land and others and how Emil Bergeson s romance with Marie Shabata
evolves. Both Wharton and Cather view friendship as a means to support and comfort. However,
Wharton also sees friendship as a way to achieve certain things while Cather perceives friendship as a
way to combat loneliness.
For both Wharton and Cather, friendship serves as a vehicle for support and comfort.
Although Mrs. Trenor tends to take advantage of Lily, Mrs. Trenor gives Lily advice on how to find a
spouse. Mrs. Trenor advises Lily, Don t wear your scarlet crêpe de chine for dinner, and don t smoke if
you can help it, Lily dear! [The House of Mirth 45] ... And Mrs. Trenor, glowing with her sex s
eagerness to smooth the course of true love, enveloped Lily in a long embrace. [The House of Mirth

higher probability of getting married. The fact that Mrs. Trenor yearns to help Lily find a husband

Subjective Jail Classification System
Subjective classification: Subjective jail classification is a system that relies on the gut feeling of the
classification staff when making decisions, especially housing decisions. This approach relies on a
review of jail records (if inmate had been incarcerated before), current charge, criminal history (prior
incarcerations), social history, substance abuse history, mental health history, and the impressions of
the classification staff interviewer to make placements. Subjective jail classification has been
described as a clinical, intuitive, seat of the pants approach. This approach relies on opinions and
feelings instead of objective criteria. Objective classification: Objective jail classification uses
measurable factors and applies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Classification is a key management tool that helps jail staff make educated decisions about inmate
housing arrangements, custody levels, staff precautions, work assignments, and program involvement.
The classification process begins with interviewing the inmate to determine the security level that best
suits the inmate. It determines the best and safest housing for the inmate. Classification reassesses
inmates after a brief time in incarceration to determine programs and privileges for the inmate. There
are many goals and benefits in classification. Classification protects inmates from one another, weaker
from stronger, mentally ill from heathier inmates. It also identifies and addresses security risk like
contraband traffickers, gang members, and escape risk. Inmate classification also strengthens security,
effectively uses resources, provides a platform for consistent decision making, improve efficacy and
effectiveness, and reduces liability for jail. Classification procedures are basically the same the inmate
is asked a series of questions about their lifestyle, criminal history, current charges, and gang
affiliation. The inmate is also observed for behavioral and mental health problems during the
classification. Based on the outcome of the interview the inmate is temporary housed to the best needs
for the facility, and the inmate. The inmate receives orientation and a

Reaction Time
Abstract Reaction Time is the interval of time between the application of a stimulus and the detection
of a response and has been thought to differ based upon the effects of modality and warning signals. In
the Reaction Time experiment a total of 24 students from the University of Cincinnati participated in
an experiment consisting of two sensory modalities, audition and vision, which were combined with
two levels of warning signal status. The two levels of warning signal status were signal onset and
signal offset. This provided a total of four experimental conditions and is described as a two by two
repeated measures design. The independent variables included both modality and warning signals,
while the dependent variable was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the arm physically moves, the response execution is occurring.
With this kept in mind, it is important to also take note of the different types of reaction time
experiments including: simple reaction time and disjunctive reaction time. During simple reaction
time a subject must react to the presence of the response stimulus, such as the process that occurred
with the hot water streaming from the faucet. Disjunctive reaction time occurs when a subject will
have more than one choice of responses to a stimulus. Therefore, a subject must not only react to the
response signal, but they must also identify which response is appropriate. In this situation, reaction
time delay may be attributed to the process of identifying which response is appropriate. Disjunctive
reaction time is used for the purposes of the Reaction Time experiment with the use of modality and
warning signals as independent variables. Though the two types of reaction time experiments differ,
both simple reaction time and disjunctive reaction time undergo similar processes including: sensory
encoding, stimulus identification, response selection and response execution (as described earlier).
Each step of the processes is essential as they help explain the lag difference between reaction time
and stimulus detection.
The difference in reaction time to a stimulus can specifically be attributed to response stimulus
modality. Response stimulus modality refers to the type of sensory

Good job, John! You managed to find my silver flask. Did you get the thieves? Colette asked as he
saw John walk out of the cellars, her silver flask in his hand.
Yea, though.... John hesitated as he handed the silver flask and frying pan back to Colette.
What is it?
The thief was a rat like monster walking on two feet and even wearing clothes. It was very strange. Do
you know what it was?
Rat like creatures?! Oh no....
So you do know. Tell me.

After John had his wound cleaned and bandaged, he headed home. He laid in his small bed as he
waited for sleep to take over. He thought about the occurrence and the information about the
beastmen. He always thought that there was more to the world than what they had here in the village.
Now that the path appeared in front of him, he was more than willing to walk down it. Pretty soon, his
eyes grew heavy and his breathing stabilized.
..........
John s eyes flashed open as he heard the first cries of the rooster and the first rays of sunlight peeked
through the window. John quickly got dressed and grabbed a few necessities for the journey. Once
John walked downstairs, he was greeted by Colette who handed him a bag of food.
Good luck, John, and do remember to stop by once in a while. Colette waved as John walked out the
door.
Don t worry, I will. John waved back.

Lucy Honeychild V. Emerson
Lucy Honeychild and her elder cousin, Charlotte, visit Florence, Italy. The story begins with the two
young women staying in a hotel. The two young women are disappointed with their rooms due to the
lack of an elegant view of the Arno River. Two other guests at the hotel, Mr. Emerson and his son,
George, overhear their displeasure with their room and offer to switch rooms with the girls. Charlotte
is offended by this offer, feeling as though Mr. Emerson s offer was completely inappropriate, but
agrees to the room switch after some convincing. Mr. Emerson is frequently viewed by the other
characters as being offensive and rude; however, he is just a bit misinterpreted and misguided when it

unknowing of the quick and sporadic relationship between Lucy and George. Quickly, Lucy realizes
her true love is George, not Cecil. Cecil reads a scene from a cheesy romance novel that was written
by one of the previous hotel guests from back when Lucy and George were guests as well. The scene
is quite similar to the kiss Lucy and George had shared on the countryside. Cecil finds the scene
absolutely hilarious and essentially makes fun of it, but Lucy and George are left recollecting their
kiss. Lucy is then torn between what to do. She loves George but holds societal pressure to marry
Cecil. She eventually ends up sending George away, but not before George opens her eyes to see how
ridiculous Cecil truly is. Lucy breaks off her engagement with Cecil, but ultimately, she is left with no
one to love. She attempts to escape her feelings by taking an improptu vacation to Greece. Before
making it to Greece, Lucy comes face to face with Mr. Emerson, who begs Lucy to open her eyes to
her love for George. The novel ultimately ends with Lucy breaking all societal expectations and
standards, as she and George check into a room with a view in Florence,

Successes Of Reconstruction
In 1865, the end of the Civil War led to the freeing of 4 million slaves and the start of an era known as
Reconstruction. Lasting until 1877, Reconstruction was revolutionary because it caused sudden,
radical, and sometimes violent change that pushed forward progress. These efforts included rebuilding
the South and repairing the Union, while helping African Americans assimilate into society. For these
goals to be accomplished, the South had to show loyalty to the Union. In addition, the freedmen
needed rights. However, it was nearly impossible to reconcile both aims due to fears in both the North
and the South. Despite successes such as the 14 and 15th amendments, Reconstruction failed to give
rights to women and Native Americans, while black ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

women. It just shows that the women think that since black people have rights that there is no such

The Argument From The Sanctity Of Human Life
The moral response would be to save the child. One could only imagine that it would be in the child s
best interest to save their life. It would then be considered immoral not to save the child, because then
the child might drown, and therefore die. There are two arguments that back this response and they
are: The Argument That We Should Save as Many as We Can, and also the Argument from the
Sanctity of Human Life. The Argument That We Should Save as Many as We Can is straight forward.
Life is precious, and thus it should be valued in the same way. The girl that was drowning was yelling
for help, so therefore she wanted to be saved. The moral reason would be to save or help this girl or
anyone else who is need; if it is in their best interest and will not inflict harm on others. ... Show more

life is precious, and it is morally wrong to let an innocent human being suffer and down which will
eventually lead up to their death. It would be immoral not to save this innocent girl from drowning.

Hong Took Tong History
Hong Took Tong: The Migration of Cantonese Opera in the United States
In the nineteenth century, the first form of Chinese theater known as Cantonese opera was introduced
to the United States . Cantonese opera quickly gained traction and became the rendition of Chinese
theater in America. The new form migrated from the Canton region, and was in Cantonese dialect.
After the discovery of gold and the building of the Transcontinental railway the first immigrants began
to travel from Southern China to the United States. Cantonese was the native language for many of the
immigrants during the first group of settlers. Three years after the discovery of gold, the Hong Took

was able to build on site in a week, so they did not need to use the American theaters. The theater had
a different style to the current theater in the United States. It was described by one American writer as
a curious pagoda looking edifice painted, outside and in, in an extraordinary manner. The theater could
seat about the one thousand and the Hong Took Tong Opera company would sell out every
performance. The theater not only brought along Chinese theater, but they also brought back some old
traditions melon seeds, candles, and oranges in the aisle during the performance. The audience had a

Examples Of Faith In Night By Elie Wiesel
Death, murder, bloody horror! The death of many can destroy the minds of millions, just imagine what
the death of millions can do to one s mind and soul. The Holocaust was a horrific event, changing
people s hearts and even their relationships with god after millions were forced to watch others die, be
burned, and starved. This event of this mass murder is a great example of how man can be so
inhumane to one another and how those events can have a great effect on someone s faith.
Throughout the story Night, we followed Ellie throughout his experience in the holocaust. On many
occasions others were forced to watch other Jewish be killed. The first sign of this which caused loss
of faith was Moishe the Beadle, who was a very religious man, after ... Show more content on

Why, but why would I bless Him? Every fiber in me rebelled. Because He caused thousands of
children to burn in His mass graves? Because he kept six crematoria working day and night, including
Sabbath and the Holy Days? Because His great might, He had created Auschwitz, Birkenau, Buna, and
so many other factories of death. (Wiesel 67). This example shows how Elie is losing his faith. Wiesel
does not understand how if God, The Almighty , was real with the greatest power how he could allow
the burning and killing of so many innocent people and if He was then Elie would no longer want to
praise someone of that much cruelty. Later Wiesel gives a greater example of how he loses his faith in
god. And I, the former mystic, was thinking: Yes, man is stronger, Greater than God. When Adam and
Eve deceived You, You chased them from paradise, when You displeased by Noah s generation, You
brought down the flood... But look at these men whom You have betrayed, allowing them to be
tortured, slaughtered, gassed, and burned, what do they do? They pray before you! (Wiesel 68). This
continues to show that Elie is extremely confused how God could turn his back on them when they
worship him and didn t do anything to get this type of torture such as

What the heck is a mole? We have Avagadro ( and others) to thank for this........
6.02 x 1023 is the number of things per mole of the substance.

use this to do mathematical conversions to determine mass, volume, and number of atoms or
molecules in a given substance. For example let s check out this video to convert moles methane
(CH4) to grams of methane. http://www.sciencegeek.net/Chemistry/Video/Unit4/GMV2.shtml

Time for some more practice:
1. How many grams of glucose are in 6.63 x 1023 molecules of glucose, C6H12O6? *198.37g
C6H12O6
2. Determine the number of molecules found in a 12.4 g sample of H2SO4. *7.61x1023 atoms H2SO4
3. 3.14 x 1023 molecules of CO2 are produced in a chemical reaction. How much would the sample
weigh in grams? *2.29g CO2
4. How many atoms are in a 39.8 g sample of Fe? *3.68x1023 atoms Fe
Can I apply this somehow to volume? Well at standard temperature and pressure (STP) a mole of a gas
will occupy 22.4 liters. So If we keep our units straight we should be able calculate a given volume of
gas from moles. Check it out...... http://www.sciencegeek.net/Chemistry/Video/Unit4/GMV4.shtml 1.
Convert 427 Liters of CO2 to moles.
2. 37 liters of O2 to moles.
3. How about 3.4 moles of CO to liters?
4. 122 moles of Methane to liters?
What about converting a given volume of gas to mass or a given mass to volume? Once again you

Nevertheless, the question that should be asked is, What is the group makeup? In working with
leadership that has an authoritarian style I have learned not to take it personally and to be open and

the initial explosion. People always wonder how many people actually died in the two
Atomic Bombs which were dropped in Japan. This question will be answered, along with the method
that citizens were actually killed by the bomb. Besides the initial blast winds that an Atomic Bomb

In the two bombings there was a large gap in the number of people that died. In Hiroshima the city
population at the time of the bombing was 310,000, The estimated deaths was
90,000 140,000 people. As for the Nagasaki bombing, the city population before the bombing was
250,000. The estimated number of deaths was 60,000 80,000 people.
Notice that the word, quot;estimated quot;, was used for both amounts of deaths. The reason for this is
because, the number of deaths cannot be precisely known because records of military personnel in
each city were destroyed.
There have been several comparisons between the damage capabilities of the two bombs. First of all,
it was said that to achieve maximum blast effect, the bomb had been set to detonate 1800 feet over
Hiroshima. This is approximately
548 meters. The bomb in Hiroshima reached a height of
580+/ 15 meters. As for the bomb in Nagasaki, it reached a height of 500+/ 10 meters. The radius in
which ceramic roof tiles melted was 600m in the Hiroshima bombing and 1000m in the Nagasaki
bombing. The radius in which granite stone melted was 1,000m for the Hiroshima bomb and 1,600m
for the Nagasaki bomb. What can be determined from these statistics is that the Nagasaki bomb has
much stronger heat rays in it, and in turn would destroy more territory and kill more people. As said
earlier in this essay, the location of
Nagasaki prevented that. It was said that when

The United States was a power that wanted to remain neutral and was not involved in the first World
War until national security was tested and decided to get involved by joining the war on April 6, 1917,

Although not a direct involvement in the war, the United States decided to partake in the First World
War by supplying and rationing food to the allied forces, including Great Britain, France, Russia and
Italy. The war had begun in 1914 and after three years of fighting in the war, the allies were facing
starvation in Europe. Farms had been turned into battlefields and agricultural workers were forced to
serve in the warfare, which then made food importation very difficult. In the United States, on August
10, 1917, the Food Administration was started in order to manage and control the wartime supply, the
conservation, the distribution and transportation of food. The American children were also called upon
to show thrift and economy during the war. One thing that was very important was wheat, where
Americans were urged and encouraged to give up or stop consuming wheat in order to send it overseas

Persuasive Essay On Social Media Snapchat
Social media tricks people to believe others are living a ravisher life than they really are. They post
only the highlights of their lives, and never the negative. It makes others view them falsely and more
presentable than they actually are, which makes those viewing their profiles feel less satisfied with
themselves and their lives. There are even some people who drop all social media because of how
terrible it makes them feel, but there are also others who thrive for the attention of social media and go
through ridiculous tasks in order to take the perfect picture. There have been many disputes over how
social media websites such as Instagram or Facebook affects ones self esteem, it can knock them
down. One might say that social media is a tool that helps us get connected with the rest of the world,
but it is truly a recipe for disaster. One of my really close friends Lara is insanely obsessed with
Instagram and Snapchat, she is on it every second of the day. Once she and her boyfriend broke up she
started stalking him every day, bible. She d go on every social media website he had an account for,
until one day she saw a Snapchat story (a story on snapchat is only available to the user s friends for
twenty four hours). The story reveled her ex and a new girl, ever since Lara has posted an insane
number of pictures on Instagram, some of them are very catfish, they don t look like her at all. This
makes Lara think less of herself, as she has to edit her pictures for them

Advantages Of Multilevel Inverter
CHAPTER 3
MULTILEVEL INVERTER TOPOLOGIES AND CONTROL SCHEME
3.1. Multilevel Inverter
Multilevel inverters have ability to generate low switching frequency high quality output waveforms
with several high voltages and higher power applications and the general structure of multilevel
converter is synthesizes a sinusoidal voltage from several level of voltages. The multilevel inverter has
overcome the limitations of conventional two level voltage converters. The advantages of multilevel
inverter are higher power quality, lower switching losses, low electromagnetic interference and higher
voltage capability.
The voltage source inverter gives an output voltage or a current with levels either 0 or ±V_dc. They
are known as two level inverter. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, input node voltages and currents can be referred to the input terminal voltages of the
inverter with reference to ground point and the corresponding currents from each node of the
capacitors to the inverter respectively. As an example, input node (dc) currents by I_1,I_2 etc., and
input node (dc) voltages are designed by V_1,V_2, etc as shown in Figure 1a. V_a,V_b and V_c are
the root mean square (rms) values of line load voltages; I_a,I_b and I_c are the rms values of the line
load currents. Figure 3.1 a shows the schematic of a pole in a multilevel inverter where V_a indicates
an output phase voltage that can predicted at any voltage level depending on the selection of node (dc)
voltage V_1,V_2 etc. By connecting switch to one node at a time, one can easily obtain the desired
output. Figure 3.2 shows the typical output voltage of a five level inverter. The structure of multilevel
inverter must (1) have less switching devices as far as possible, (2) have capability of withstanding at
very high input voltage for high power applications, and (3) have lower switching frequency for each

Examples Of American Civilizations
In the article Huntington describes civilizations as a cultural entity comprised of many different
nationalities, ethnic groups religious groups and regions. We could use and example as those that live
on the east coast of the United States differ from those on the west coast. Here we could talk about the
difference between their politics their lifestyles and maybe their economies regional and state.
However, both may be different in some form most will identify as American, which will distinguish
them from Mexico or Canada. This makes civilizations. A civilization is thus the highest cultural
group of people and the broadest level of cultural identity people have short of that which
distinguishes humans from other species. It s defined

Healthsouth Theoretical Model Of Fraud
I. Theoretical Model of Fraud A. Appropriate Fraud Model The best theoretical model of fraud to
describe why HealthSouth committed fraud is the fraud diamond not the fraud triangle. Both methods
require that these three elements are present for committing fraud: perceived pressure, perceived
opportunity, and rationalization. Understanding what motivated HealthSouth s Chief Executive Officer
(CEO) Richard Scrushy to commit fraud, how the accounting staff committed and concealed the fraud,
and how the staff justified their participation are crucial. However, anti fraud professionals believe
that changes in social behavior require the addition of a fourth element called capability. Capability
includes personal traits and abilities that play a major role in whether fraud will actually occur
(Fighting Fraud in the Government n.d.). For example, Scrushy s persuasiveness and Cathy Edward s
position as Michael Vines boss increased their capabilities to commit fraud. If capable employees
refused to participate, fraud occurrences decrease (Fighting Fraud in the Government n.d.) (Hamilton
n.d.). B. Fraud Scheme Committing fraud requires motivation from perceived pressures like greed or
meeting expectations. With the shift in investor focus and the need to meet analyst expectations,
Scrushy and the family manipulated earnings to make HealthSouth appear more successful. Perceived
opportunity establishes how an individual s position enables fraud to be committed and

What Role Did Wu Zetian Play In Confucianism
In the feudal era of China, when Confucianism played a dominant role in human thoughts and was the
measure for all ethical standards, so that a woman became the Emperor, holding power absolutely
could not be possible. The men chauvinism affected deeply in the root of each generations, each
classes in the society which is heavily feudal as China. But Wu Zetian, from a very normal woman,
with her intellect, cunning and also cruelty, she rose to be the Emperor and till now, she was the only
female Emperor in Chinese history.
I. Introduction

Several forces tried to knock her down but not successful. She created her mark in the history by
stabilizing national border, contributing to the economy as well as imperial authority at that time. The
female Emperor promoted agricultural development, taught farmers to cultivate, to manage the land
helping them to work favorably, handicrafts and trade developed prosperously, stable society, firm
security. The average economic growth under the reign of Wu Zetian was 0.7%, a high number in the
ancient times. People also appreciate Wu Zetian due to her way to use people and contribution to the
prosperity of Tang culture. However, she left bad reputation by abusing power and killing innocent
persons.
I realize she has the following advantages:
Firstly, she knew how to use her strengths absolutely, they were glamourous beauty, wisdom intellect,
cunning so as to expand her political power. All made her standing rose quickly and finally the most
honorable position the Emperor.
Secondly, she was ahead of its time. In Confucianism society to value men above women , she
improved the role and position of women in the society. She proved to all China that women could

What Makes Gram-Negative Bacterial Cells
All bacterial cells have a cell wall composed of peptidoglycan, However, they can be differentiated
into two broad groups, Gram positive and Gram negative. Gram positive cells have a thick
peptidoglycan layer whereas gram negative cells have a thin peptidoglycan layer. The cell wall of
Gram positive bacterial cells also have large amounts teichoic acids, while Gram negative cells do not
have any teichoic acids. Graham negative cells have an outer membrane composed of lipids,
lipoproteins, and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Lipopolysaccharide, Also known as endotoxin, is what
makes gram negative bacterial infections so dangerous because it causes symptoms such as shock and
a fever. The outer membrane of gram negative bacteria is more permeable than

What is Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB)? Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB) is a common medical
disorder that is increasingly recognized in children almost 30 million American children are living
with SDB. SDB can range from frequent loud snoring to Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) a condition
involving repeated episodes of partial or complete blockage of the airway during sleep. When a child s
breathing is disrupted during sleep, their growing bodies are deprived of the one thing they need most
oxygen. In response, some children become restless, irritable, and hyperactive, while others

It is designed to feel like a pacifier that helps to familiarize the child with the process of wearing a
device in their mouth every night. This initial device is typically worn anywhere from one to four
months before moving on to the next step. Daytime wear and extended treatment time could be
recommended depending on the child s specific habits and their severity. Step 2: Ortho Tain® for Kids
During the second phase, a device specifically sized for each child is also worn at night. It works to
gently guide the incoming permanent teeth into the appropriate places, correct jaw relations, and
expand the arches to make room for the larger incoming adult teeth. This helps to eliminate and
prevent any improper dentition. This device is worn for only about two to five months before the final
phase of treatment begins. Step 3: Ortho Tain® for Kids Once the child has at least four permanent
teeth in the mouth, the third and final treatment begins with a device used to accommodate the
incoming adult teeth. This is a vital stage in our treatment process because as the adult teeth are
forming, the gum tissue fibers are beginning to anchor these teeth in the mouth. When using this third
phase of treatment, the Perfect Start System ensures the adult teeth erupt into their proper position and
the natural fiber bundles are able to form, therefore locking them into the correct alignment. This
method works to prevent any new erupting

Case Study On Small Business Managers
Blunder # 6 Not having an advisor with experience
Ugh. At first I was going to strike this from the list because, in my opinion, it isn t applicable to every
one. Some business types may be along the road less traveled, making available advisors scarce. I can
think of a few industries where the managers are hard to find and the owners and founders even
harder. People with valuable experience may not be available to some of you reading right now.
For the rest of us here, on the other hand, finding someone who could advise us and answer questions
isn t as difficult. You may even have relatives who are in the same field you want to venture into. If I
decide to open a bar or a lounge in a nice part of the city, I can (and do) get pointers ... Show more

I hate to break it to you, this ain t Cheers, and you aren t Norm. Everyone will NOT know your name.
Unless you have a high profile product, or a high profile client who endorses you, you ll likely need ad
injections from time to time throughout your company s life. Think about it, everyone knows about
Pepsi, Gieco, and McDonald s, but you still see their ads right? Even the big guys do it.
The need for advertising and marketing never stops, regardless of how big you get. And growth will
come from attracting new clients with solid advertising. Blunder # 9 Not having a sufficient marketing
budget
I made this blunder last year selling a product I developed. I was selling a deluxe wine set on Amazon
around Christmas time, which is a gold mining time of year for my product. My goods were in stock
and ready for sale. I started my ad campaign and drained my budget in two weeks. Sadly, there was
still another 60+ days until Christmas day. Needless to say, I made much less than I could ve had if I
set aside more money for my ad campaign.
Pardon the expression, but don t half ass your advertising. Ad dollars out is sales dollars in times ten.
If your ad campaign get cut short, so will your profits.
I m going to step out on a limb and include one more thing that you don t want to ignore when plotting
your marketing budget. Your promotional items. Whether they be

Ordovician Life
For a long period, up till now, I loved the early life of earth. Kimberella, Dickinsonia, and, later in
time, Hylonomus were some of the creatures I studied. To find out, I went online to look around. The
first question I looked at, to me at least, was the diversity of life in the early periods of life,
specifically the Ordovician. To find out the answer, we must go back in time, at the beginning of the
Ordovician in fact, to find out the answer. I started my research on this topic by surfing the internet
and looking at various websites until I found the perfect one. I finally found an entire article on how
the Ordovician period s life branched out. Next, I wanted to find out information on the missing link
between fish and early amphibians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

right? You are correct in a way, but there is life here, microscopic life, but life nonetheless. Deep in the
ocean, in the crushing depths, there are black smokers, early versions of them, wafting out large
amounts of heat and food. This is where early life began, absorbing nutrients from the water. (

Adversity in Lord of the Flies Essay
In Lord of the Flies , how does Golding explore the main characters struggle against adversity?
Adversity is presented in many forms during Lord of the Flies for the main character Ralph. It comes
not only in the form of other people but a corruption of what society the boys on the island have
managed to hold onto.
One of the strongest forms of adversity came in the form of a strong and outspoken boy Jack; Jack
often overwhelms and disregards things that Ralph, the chief of the boys on the island, has said to be
done. Ralph, we can see, struggles to hold his control over the group of boys when Jack refuses to
believe the importance of these jobs. Ralph s biggest struggle against adversity against Jack happens

He understands what the basics are as he knows they need food, hygiene for safety and smoke signal
for passing ships to see, this is obvious because he knows they need a smoke signal or they will die .
One of the biggest forms of adversity with which the boys struggled was undoubtedly learning to cope
and overcome the fear the littluns had instilled upon themselves associated with the beast . Golding
does this by changing the way Ralph handles the crisis and changing his basic survival instincts back
to that of the society the boys have left behind and learn to be compassionate towards the obviously
scared young boys. This is obvious because throughout the book Ralph has been harsh, we can see this
most in the first few chapters where he himself is obviously scared at the prospect of surviving with
no adult help or guidance, we can see this through the way Golding has made Ralph speak and react to
the other characters, such as his harshness to another key figure in the book, Piggy. An example of this
is the fact that Ralph continuously tells Piggy to Shut up . However, when he understands the littluns
fear of the beast , his tone softens and he understands that they need to be protected and looked after to
feel safe, this is obvious because he made sure

What does Edwards mean by natural men ? How do you know? Describe his primary audience.
It sounds as though Edwards if referring to those who aren t repenting and who are not seeing any
wrong in the supposed sins they are committing. I know this partially because of the research I did to
answer question number one. I also know this because in the first sentence, he describes how these
kinds of people deserve to be in hell. Also, in the fourth paragraph he gives a description of why the
audience of his sermon is lucky to be alive and not in hell still. The reason he gives for this is that they
are sinners and lustful people. His primary audience is those who are not already members of the

The Settlements Of The Treaty Of Waitangi Essay
The Settlements of the Treaty of Waitangi.
The treaty of Waitangi is considered to be the founding document of the English and European control
and settlement in New Zealand. After the treaty s signing in 1840 it has played a huge role in legal
affairs and the treatment of both European New Zealanders and Maori New Zealanders. Though there
is dispute as to the correct or incorrect translation from English to Maori and vice versa, the treaty has
on the whole created a harmonious existence between the two cultures.
In 1832 after a plea for help and protection sent to the French and English by the Maori, the English
sent James Busby to be the British Resident in New Zealand, which would lead to the later
appointment of William Hobson as the Lieutenant Governor of New Zealand. In 1834 James Busby
drafted a document known as the Declaration of Independence of New Zealand . This was signed by
himself and 35 Northern Maori chiefs in 1835 appointing those chiefs as the representatives of a state
under the name of the United Tribes of New Zealand . This document was not popular in the Colonial
Office in England and it seemed that a corrective document was needed for New Zealand. This
document ended up being the Treaty of Waitangi.
Hobsons instructions are the basis for all Waitangi Tribunal claims and settlements, the instructions
were issued to him by James Stephen of the Colonial office on behalf of Queen Victoria. The
instructions were as follows:

  • 2. Health Law Research Paper Health Law: Rehabilitation Health Law Paper Final Katelyn Dill SHRS W 362 Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis Introduction The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 encompassed the complicated issues involving civilians with disabilities in this country. The law has origins dating back to the 20th century and possesses a force that grew legislation to have a profound effect on future generations. A massive influx of wounded veterans returning from war created a sudden need for healthcare and benefits assistance for those who returned with injury or illness. Compensation provided to disabled veterans has come to include healthcare and treatment. Rehabilitation programs began to take shape and continue to evolve to include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Veterans Benefits was evaluated due to a push for independent living that encouraged disabled Americans to leave the hospitals and institutions. A proposed change in 1978 gave way for a need to examine the issues facing disabled civilians in society and in public places. The goal was to bring people out of the confinements of their homes and into the community (Haugen, 2008). Many of these individuals were capable of becoming participating members of society which would in turn alleviate the growing problem of disabled veterans returning from war. The population reached a level critical level of overcrowding and inadequate care and inaccessible care for some. The development of plans for transportation and public facilities was an essential tool to propel the rights and needs of the disabled to the forefront. A continued focus helped initiate the 1988 Fair Housing Amendment Act to alleviate the discrimination issues of the disabled (Haugen, 2008). The powerful force created by the nation s veterans helped enable the revision of the Rehabilitation Act to also include the civilians with disabilities. The formation of the ADA or Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990 was groundbreaking in achieving change with regard the individual rights in all aspects of society. Haugen reports, much of the language and philosophy used in the ADA is borrowed from section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (p. 40). The provisions of section 504 eliminate and prevent discrimination in public services and assure no disabled person is denied the benefit of public transportation (Haugen, ... • 3. Covert Military Operations Essay covert military operations, directed by Colonel Oliver North, a well decorated Vietnam War veteran. North became somewhat of a problematic figure, often bragging of his close relationship to the President, although office logs from the time show that Reagan never saw North alone, and spoke to him only once on the telephone. However, Reagan s reasons for forging ahead in this situation, despite congressional opposition, can best be explained by his remarks in the red tide television speech given on March 16, 1986. Using Nicaragua as a base, the Soviets and Cubans can become the dominant 15 Pemberton, Ibid., p. 173. 14 power in the crucial corridor between North and South America. 16 As a result of his continued pressure, the House did finally ... The Iran Contra affair taught lessons that were later turned into policy by Reagan when he implemented the Tower Commission s recommendations. In short, these suggestions stated that no covert operations be conducted out of the White House, that secret operations involving great risk be reviewed frequently by the President and the National Security Council, and that good faith be used in order to serve the national interest when differences existed between the executive and legislative branches of government. In 1950, after the Holocaust the Jewish population of Europe was about 3.5 million. The Holocaust, was a genocide during World War II in which Adolf Hitler s Nazi Germany, systematically murdered some six million European Jews, between 1941 and 1945. At the time of the Holocaust, Jews used armed and unarmed forms of resistance in order to retain their humanity.Armed resistance was when the Jewish people fought physically to avenge the slaughter of so many of their people. One example of this type of resistance was the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. In April May 1943, Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto rose in armed revolt after rumors that the Germans would deport the remaining ghetto inhabitants to the Treblinka killing center. (Jewish resisitance article) This quote shows the acts of resistance at this time were violent. Armed resistance showed how passionate and strong the Jewish people could be. An example of this type of resistance was how the Jews would do certain things they weren t allowed to by the Germans and then hid it. Students hid their books under their clothing. • 5. Theme Of Friendship In The House Of Cather In life, there are several things that cannot be bought in a store, such as friendship. There are several views on the purpose of friendship. The House of Mirth is a novel by Wharton that revolves on Lily Bart attempting to find a husband as a way to have a successful life and provides insight on upper class society in the late 1800s and early 1900s. O Pioneers! is a novel by Cather about how Alexandra Bergson connects to the land and others and how Emil Bergeson s romance with Marie Shabata evolves. Both Wharton and Cather view friendship as a means to support and comfort. However, Wharton also sees friendship as a way to achieve certain things while Cather perceives friendship as a way to combat loneliness. For both Wharton and Cather, friendship serves as a vehicle for support and comfort. Although Mrs. Trenor tends to take advantage of Lily, Mrs. Trenor gives Lily advice on how to find a spouse. Mrs. Trenor advises Lily, Don t wear your scarlet crêpe de chine for dinner, and don t smoke if you can help it, Lily dear! [The House of Mirth 45] ... And Mrs. Trenor, glowing with her sex s eagerness to smooth the course of true love, enveloped Lily in a long embrace. [The House of Mirth 46] By Mrs. Trenor providing tips to Lily about how to find a husband, she guides Lily to have a higher probability of getting married. This approach relies on a review of jail records (if inmate had been incarcerated before), current charge, criminal history (prior incarcerations), social history, substance abuse history, mental health history, and the impressions of the classification staff interviewer to make placements. Subjective jail classification has been described as a clinical, intuitive, seat of the pants approach. This approach relies on opinions and feelings instead of objective criteria. Classification is a key management tool that helps jail staff make educated decisions about inmate housing arrangements, custody levels, staff precautions, work assignments, and program involvement. The classification process begins with interviewing the inmate to determine the security level that best suits the inmate. It determines the best and safest housing for the inmate. Classification reassesses inmates after a brief time in incarceration to determine programs and privileges for the inmate. There are many goals and benefits in classification. Classification protects inmates from one another, weaker from stronger, mentally ill from heathier inmates. It also identifies and addresses security risk like contraband traffickers, gang members, and escape risk. Inmate classification also strengthens security, effectively uses resources, provides a platform for consistent decision making, improve efficacy and effectiveness, and reduces liability for jail. Classification procedures are basically the same the inmate is asked a series of questions about their lifestyle, criminal history, current charges, and gang affiliation. Reaction Time Abstract Reaction Time is the interval of time between the application of a stimulus and the detection of a response and has been thought to differ based upon the effects of modality and warning signals. In the Reaction Time experiment a total of 24 students from the University of Cincinnati participated in an experiment consisting of two sensory modalities, audition and vision, which were combined with two levels of warning signal status. The two levels of warning signal status were signal onset and signal offset. This provided a total of four experimental conditions and is described as a two by two repeated measures design. The independent variables included both modality and warning signals, while the dependent variable was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the arm physically moves, the response execution is occurring. With this kept in mind, it is important to also take note of the different types of reaction time experiments including: simple reaction time and disjunctive reaction time. During simple reaction time a subject must react to the presence of the response stimulus, such as the process that occurred with the hot water streaming from the faucet. Disjunctive reaction time occurs when a subject will have more than one choice of responses to a stimulus. Therefore, a subject must not only react to the response signal, but they must also identify which response is appropriate. In this situation, reaction time delay may be attributed to the process of identifying which response is appropriate. Disjunctive reaction time is used for the purposes of the Reaction Time experiment with the use of modality and warning signals as independent variables. Though the two types of reaction time experiments differ, both simple reaction time and disjunctive reaction time undergo similar processes including: sensory encoding, stimulus identification, response selection and response execution (as described earlier). Each step of the processes is essential as they help explain the lag difference between reaction time and stimulus detection. The difference in reaction time to a stimulus can specifically be attributed to response stimulus modality. Response stimulus modality refers to the type of sensory ... The scene is quite similar to the kiss Lucy and George had shared on the countryside. Cecil finds the scene absolutely hilarious and essentially makes fun of it, but Lucy and George are left recollecting their kiss. Lucy is then torn between what to do. She loves George but holds societal pressure to marry Cecil. She eventually ends up sending George away, but not before George opens her eyes to see how ridiculous Cecil truly is. Lucy breaks off her engagement with Cecil, but ultimately, she is left with no one to love. She attempts to escape her feelings by taking an improptu vacation to Greece. • 11. Successes Of Reconstruction In 1865, the end of the Civil War led to the freeing of 4 million slaves and the start of an era known as Reconstruction. Lasting until 1877, Reconstruction was revolutionary because it caused sudden, radical, and sometimes violent change that pushed forward progress. These efforts included rebuilding the South and repairing the Union, while helping African Americans assimilate into society. For these goals to be accomplished, the South had to show loyalty to the Union. In addition, the freedmen needed rights. It would then be considered immoral not to save the child, because then the child might drown, and therefore die. There are two arguments that back this response and they are: The Argument That We Should Save as Many as We Can, and also the Argument from the Sanctity of Human Life. The Argument That We Should Save as Many as We Can is straight forward. Life is precious, and thus it should be valued in the same way. The girl that was drowning was yelling for help, so therefore she wanted to be saved. The death of many can destroy the minds of millions, just imagine what the death of millions can do to one s mind and soul. The Holocaust was a horrific event, changing people s hearts and even their relationships with god after millions were forced to watch others die, be burned, and starved. This event of this mass murder is a great example of how man can be so inhumane to one another and how those events can have a great effect on someone s faith. Wiesel does not understand how if God, The Almighty , was real with the greatest power how he could allow the burning and killing of so many innocent people and if He was then Elie would no longer want to praise someone of that much cruelty. Later Wiesel gives a greater example of how he loses his faith in god. And I, the former mystic, was thinking: Yes, man is stronger, Greater than God. When Adam and Eve deceived You, You chased them from paradise, when You displeased by Noah s generation, You brought down the flood... But look at these men whom You have betrayed, allowing them to be tortured, slaughtered, gassed, and burned, what do they do? They pray before you! (Wiesel 68). As for the Nagasaki bombing, the city population before the bombing was 250,000. The estimated number of deaths was 60,000 80,000 people. Notice that the word, quot;estimated quot;, was used for both amounts of deaths. The reason for this is because, the number of deaths cannot be precisely known because records of military personnel in each city were destroyed. There have been several comparisons between the damage capabilities of the two bombs. First of all, it was said that to achieve maximum blast effect, the bomb had been set to detonate 1800 feet over Hiroshima. This is approximately 548 meters. The bomb in Hiroshima reached a height of 580+/ 15 meters. As for the bomb in Nagasaki, it reached a height of 500+/ 10 meters. The radius in which granite stone melted was 1,000m for the Hiroshima bomb and 1,600m for the Nagasaki bomb. Appropriate Fraud Model The best theoretical model of fraud to describe why HealthSouth committed fraud is the fraud diamond not the fraud triangle. Both methods require that these three elements are present for committing fraud: perceived pressure, perceived opportunity, and rationalization. Understanding what motivated HealthSouth s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Scrushy to commit fraud, how the accounting staff committed and concealed the fraud, and how the staff justified their participation are crucial. However, anti fraud professionals believe that changes in social behavior require the addition of a fourth element called capability. Capability includes personal traits and abilities that play a major role in whether fraud will actually occur (Fighting Fraud in the Government n.d.). For example, Scrushy s persuasiveness and Cathy Edward s position as Michael Vines boss increased their capabilities to commit fraud. If capable employees refused to participate, fraud occurrences decrease (Fighting Fraud in the Government n.d.) (Hamilton n.d.). B. I started my research on this topic by surfing the internet and looking at various websites until I found the perfect one. I finally found an entire article on how the Ordovician period s life branched out. Next, I wanted to find out information on the missing link between fish and early amphibians. ... You are correct in a way, but there is life here, microscopic life, but life nonetheless. Deep in the ocean, in the crushing depths, there are black smokers, early versions of them, wafting out large amounts of heat and food. This is where early life began, absorbing nutrients from the water. ( Proterozoic: Eukaryotes and the First Multicellular Life Forms. Proterozoic: Eukaryotes and the First Multicellular Life Forms. • 33. Adversity in Lord of the Flies Essay In Lord of the Flies , how does Golding explore the main characters struggle against adversity? Adversity is presented in many forms during Lord of the Flies for the main character Ralph. It comes not only in the form of other people but a corruption of what society the boys on the island have managed to hold onto. One of the strongest forms of adversity came in the form of a strong and outspoken boy Jack; Jack often overwhelms and disregards things that Ralph, the chief of the boys on the island, has said to be done. Ralph, we can see, struggles to hold his control over the group of boys when Jack refuses to believe the importance of these jobs. Ralph s biggest struggle against adversity against Jack happens during a time of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He understands what the basics are as he knows they need food, hygiene for safety and smoke signal for passing ships to see, this is obvious because he knows they need a smoke signal or they will die . One of the biggest forms of adversity with which the boys struggled was undoubtedly learning to cope and overcome the fear the littluns had instilled upon themselves associated with the beast . Golding does this by changing the way Ralph handles the crisis and changing his basic survival instincts back to that of the society the boys have left behind and learn to be compassionate towards the obviously scared young boys. This is obvious because throughout the book Ralph has been harsh, we can see this most in the first few chapters where he himself is obviously scared at the prospect of surviving with no adult help or guidance, we can see this through the way Golding has made Ralph speak and react to the other characters, such as his harshness to another key figure in the book, Piggy. An example of this is the fact that Ralph continuously tells Piggy to Shut up . However, when he understands the littluns fear of the beast , his tone softens and he understands that they need to be protected and looked after to feel safe, this is obvious because he made sure ... • 34. Edwards Primary Audience What does Edwards mean by natural men ? How do you know? Describe his primary audience. It sounds as though Edwards if referring to those who aren t repenting and who are not seeing any wrong in the supposed sins they are committing. I know this partially because of the research I did to answer question number one. I also know this because in the first sentence, he describes how these kinds of people deserve to be in hell. Also, in the fourth paragraph he gives a description of why the audience of his sermon is lucky to be alive and not in hell still. The reason he gives for this is that they are sinners and lustful people. His primary audience is those who are not already members of the Puritan church, as he wants to convince them that ... He also talks about the effects that would come about from your decision to not repent of sins in such a visual way that it makes you almost feel the pain of being there for, according to him, an eternity. He also repeats his most critical points in a way that they stick in your head and continue to come up whenever you have a question that is opposite what he was trying to convey. • 35. The Settlements Of The Treaty Of Waitangi Essay The Settlements of the Treaty of Waitangi. The treaty of Waitangi is considered to be the founding document of the English and European control and settlement in New Zealand. After the treaty s signing in 1840 it has played a huge role in legal affairs and the treatment of both European New Zealanders and Maori New Zealanders. Though there is dispute as to the correct or incorrect translation from English to Maori and vice versa, the treaty has on the whole created a harmonious existence between the two cultures. In 1832 after a plea for help and protection sent to the French and English by the Maori, the English sent James Busby to be the British Resident in New Zealand, which would lead to the later appointment of William Hobson as the Lieutenant Governor of New Zealand. In 1834 James Busby drafted a document known as the Declaration of Independence of New Zealand . This was signed by himself and 35 Northern Maori chiefs in 1835 appointing those chiefs as the representatives of a state under the name of the United Tribes of New Zealand . This document was not popular in the Colonial Office in England and it seemed that a corrective document was needed for New Zealand. This document ended up being the Treaty of Waitangi. Hobsons instructions are the basis for all Waitangi Tribunal claims and settlements, the instructions were issued to him by James Stephen of the Colonial office on behalf of Queen Victoria. The instructions were as follows: All dealings with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
