A Student s Right to Their Own Language Interpretive Essay

Should Students be Able to Use the Dialect They Choose? The Conference on College Composition
and Communication discusses two very important and controversial questions within their article
Students Right to Their Own Language : What should the schools do about the language habits of
students who come from a wide variety of social, economic, and cultural backgrounds? (2), and
Should the schools try to uphold language variety, or to modify it, or to eradicate it? (2). While for
academic writing purposes students should be expected to use standard American dialect, it is
important to respect the diversity and various heritages throughout the country by allowing students to
use the dialect they choose when speaking. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Allowing students to speak dialects they chose when communicating with peers is acceptable outside
of the classroom and in informal class discussions because there are no requirements that are
necessary to reach within casual communication. If people were not able to speak the dialect they
prefer, we would be rejecting them of their own lifestyles because we would not be allowing the
freedom which the United States promises.
Standard American dialect is necessary in academic writing for three key reasons. First, the ability to
use standard American dialect is a skill that people living in America should obtain because it is the
most spoken and written language across the country. Having the knowledge to use standard American
dialect will be helpful in many different situations, such as in the classroom and business world. In
addition, being able to write using this dialect, will guide in writing a stronger, clearer paper, as well
as ensuring unity between all academic writing. I disagree with the following statement from Students
Right to Their Own Language : We affirm strongly that teachers must have the experiences and
training that will enable them to respect diversity and uphold the right of students to their own
language (3). Teachers should not have to go through an immense amount of training

The Rights Of Habeas Corpus
The president s executive order 456 that called for the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus amid
intense political instability was necessary. In order to give legal advice with substance to Her
Excellency President Dove, the counsel remained very objective and impartial on her actions within
the period of time the civil war lasted. The counsel is reviewing Madame Dove s actions on three
folds, 1, is her action to wage war constitutional? 2, is her action violate the constitution check and
balances of powers? 3 is her action completely unconstitutional? These are the questions we will be
answering with the fact patterns available. According to the United States constitution Art I sec 9 cl 2
the privilege of habeas corpus shall not be suspended unless when cases of rebellion or invasion the
public safety may require it. Habeas Corpus allows detainee to question the reason for their
detainment. Habeas insures that the defendant isn t arbitrarily imprisoned by the government and that
they can exhaust all legal means possible to fight the accusation. Unfortunately, habeas has been
suspended numerous times throughout the United States history, most notably during the Civil War of
1861, President Lincoln suspended the writ of habeas corpus. While at this contemporary time
President Bush has also suspended habeas corpus under the Military Commissions Act of 2006. The
suspension of habeas corpus means that anyone that the government wants to arrest it can do so,

Protesting Against Racism at the 1968 Olympics Essay
Protesting Against Racism at the 1968 Olympics
Demonstrators and protesters vary from religious, environmental, social, civil, and political rights
groups. They use the Olympic games to get their message or beliefs across to a larger viewing public.
Some demonstrations and protests are quite peaceful, while others, are chaotic and often lead to
violence. These individuals can be seen as early as the opening ceremonies and as late as the closing
ceremonies of the Olympics. Many athletes also have demonstrated their support to some of these
groups. Tommie Smith, John Carlos, Cathy Freeman, and Naim Suleymanoglu, just to name a few, are
among the individuals who have exercised their beliefs in social, civil, and political rights of their ...

Smith and Carlos, who finished first and third in the 200 meter run, bowed their heads, wearing black
socks and black leather gloves, raised their fist in the Black power salute as the Star Spangled Banner
played and the American flag was raised. Their actions were a protest against racism in the U.S. Later,
Smith concluded that their actions were not of a Black power salute, but an Olympic project for
human rights. He also stated that the Black gloved fists represented African American pride, and their
black socks were a testament to poverty encountered by African Americans during those times
(Boogard, 2000,p. D1). The U.S. organizing committee immediately removed Smith and Carlos from
the track and field team as a result of their protest. Smith and Carlos however took advantage of their
day in the spotlight and made news around the world. They stood for something that is needed to be
corrected, which was racism, and took a stand. Over the years, the tensions of racism slowly decreased
in the U.S., as a result of one of the biggest nationwide protest ever seen. Naim Suleymanoglu, also
known as Pocket Hercules, is another athlete who used the Olympic games to represent oppression
among his countrymen. Naim grew up as part of the Turkish minority in Bulgaria, where he trained to
be the most dominant weightlifter in his weight class for many years. He would have been a sure gold

Throughout a lifetime, only so much conflict could be bore...
Throughout a lifetime, only so much conflict could be bore upon oneself. There is always a breaking
point, the important aspect is the timing. From my story Wuthering Heights to Beowulf and
Canterbury Tales there are conflicts that have been exaggerated and then blown to preposterous
proportions. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight there are conflicts between man and man just like
there are in the world we live in today. Conflicts in books or stories could show what is going on in
the real world or what an author is thinking and making up.In Wuthering Heights there could be two
different conflicts man vs. man, with the conflict between Heathcliff and Edgar, as well as a conflict of
man vs. self, with the inner conflict that Catherine faces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heathcliff is the only character who is considered a hero at all, but only to the audience in a romantic
hero kind of perspective ( Wuthering Heights ). In the novel Heathcliff abuses a young woman named
Isabella Linton, the selfish snotty sister of Edgar, and she continuously goes back to Heathcliff. To the
audience Heathcliff is the young man who everyone wants to see as the romantic hero, allowing them
to foresee the pain and violence he causes to Isabella. Only with the deception of Heathcliff Wuthering
Heights has a hero, there are no other ways to try and make a hero. Even with one hero the entire story
seemed to be wrapped around only three people and only one love. The one love blossomed upon the
arrival of Heathcliff into the home of the Earnshaws. Heathcliff was brought into the home by Mr.
Earnshaw, who in turn sparked the love of the young children. Upon the death of Mr. Earnshaw,
Hindley Earnshaw, the son of Mr. Earnshaw and brother of Catherine, treated Heathcliff more like a
servant than a equal. The sparks behind the madness of Hindley was the way Mr. Earnshaw began to
adore Heathcliff over Hindley, which made Hindley jealous ( Hindley Earnshaw ). During all of the
past actions, Catherine and Heathcliff were obliviant due to the fun they had together at young ages,
which began the love they would soon share. When Catherine and Heathcliff were young they did not

CRETORS VIDEO CASE STUDY STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT SUMMER SEMESTER 2011
PROFESSOR STEPHEN COURTER Santiago Ennis Exporting has become a very important business
strategy nowadays. In order for firms to expand to the international market, and also to maintain and
grow their share of market in whatever industry they are in, depending on their goals and objectives,
any company must at least explore this possibility. A few and important advantages might come into
place, in that they can extend their sales potential of their existing products, increasing margins
through a larger customer base. Also, these small to large businesses can consolidate by gaining global

their export business. International partnerships gave them presence in North and South America,
Europe and Asia. Working through distributors, made it easier to sell their products. These distributors
knew every little aspect of their clients, and made it easier to find potential clients than Cretor could.
These made them have both bargaining power of suppliers and buyers, in that they were still one of
the very few making these machines, and throughout these distributors, they had specific knowledge
of their current and potential clients overseas. Cretors also kept personal relationships. They had good

relationship with them. In order to assure that their machines stayed in good conditions, they currently
have approved service centers around the world. These centers would act as a link between Cretors
and their customers. A service representative was at the center, who would fix the problem almost the

War Is Kind Analysis
War is seen as disturbing, violent, depressing and stressful. Although some may think of it as
honorable or may even welcome their own death in a war because of the glory that can come with it,
others believe in the protest against the brutal acts of war. Several writers such as Stephen Crane,
Wilfred Owen, Tim O Brien, and Kevin Powers are especially known to protest against war through
their forms of writing. In order to strengthen their arguments and persuade audiences to prevent acts of
war, they use techniques such as imagery, irony and structure to reveal the disturbing truths behind
war. Imagery is one of the most powerful tools that writers try to use when protesting war because it
serves as a simpler way to present clearer images ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although structure is a complex tool to use when trying to support an argument, it can serve as one of
the most impactful tools that authors can use because it is sets up their form of writing and presents
the audience with a specific style. The style that is created from the writer s structure is what affects
the reader s mindset on the topic of the writing. For example, if a writing s structure is set up like a
list, then the reader is most likely going to believe that the author is just trying to get to each of his or
her points without trying to make the reader feel any emotion and so their writing is going to sound
dull or bland. The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien has a structure set up just like that type of list.
His list consists of the necessities that soldiers carried to war such as P 38 can openers, pocket knives,
heat tabs, wristwatches, dog tags, mosquito repellent, chewing gum, candy, cigarettes, salt tablets,
packets of Kool Aid, lighters, matches, sewing kits, Military Payment Certificates, C rations, and two
or three canteens of water (2). O Brien uses a list to help create his structure by implying that most of
this equipment can not help them and the tone it creates is straightforward to imply the dull aspects of
war. O Brien also uses parallel structure with his lists to emphasize the items they carried by creating a
feeling of repetitiveness.

Tourette Syndrome Essays
Tourette Syndrome
Tourette syndrome is an inherited severe neurological disorder usually occurring before the age of
eighteen and is associated with a degree of facial and body tics sometimes accompanied by random
declarations of phrases or obscenities (2,3). The facial and body tics associated with the disorder can
be painful and even embarrassing. Involuntary body movements such as jaw snapping, gyrating,
hopping, and obscene gesturing are to name a few (1). Tourette Syndrome was named after a French
neuropsychiatrist named Gilles de la Tourette who successfully assessed the disorder in the late 1800

behavior such as head banging, eye poking, and lip biting (1). There have also been cases of various
learning disabilities connected with Tourette Syndrome such as dyslexia (4).
Vocal tic behavior in patients diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome include outbursts of meaningless
words or phrases. The vocal tics disrupt the regular flow of speech and cause the patient to stammer or
stutter (1). Inappropriate outbursts called coprolalia are considered involuntary. Coprolalia may also
take place in this display of vocal tic disorder. However, coprolalia only takes place in a small number
of Tourette Syndrome sufferer s (1).
Each individual suffering from Tourette Syndrome should be evaluated as such. Certain manifestations
of Tourette Syndrome may disable one in certain parts of their life such as in their school performance,
while it may affect another s personality or psyche (3). It may affect a totally different behavioral
dimension in one s life than that of another diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome.

The Importance Of Bully On Body Weight
In today s society women and girls are pressure to worry about their body sizes. Females think they
have to be petite. Women and girls should not have to be pressured about their body weight. The
pressure about their body weight comes from either girls are getting bullied about their size , trying to
fit in , or even think their weight isn t good enough for an relationship. Women need to stop pressuring
their self about their body size and just be happy. Always remember beauty come in any size and
form. This generation is cruel and evil , everyone looks down on each other instead of bring each other
up and being friendly to one another. Havin a perfect body for womens is a huge example of this
world being cruel and evil. Women are often bullied for not having a perfect body . Nowadays if your

Culture stigmatizes women who do not meet raditional standards of beauty and , too often, women use
this unforgiving reality to harshly judge one another as a mean gain leverage and power ( When

over each other so by saying rude harsh words about body weight they feel as if they have power over

Essential Operations Of Information Systems
The essential operations of information systems sustained by of critical infrastructure rely on the
explicit functionality of software applications supporting complex, interdependent, information
systems. The software application provides the virtual framework for information systems to operate
efficiently in a critical infrastructure. Information systems consistently communicate with
supplementary information systems positioned throughout the network to support the infrastructure s
essential operations. The dependence of software and information systems increases, as businesses
require additional systems to automate critical operations. However, the connectivity and complexities
of information systems supporting critical infrastructure increases the critical infrastructure s exposure
rate of software vulnerabilities to advanced persistent threats. Conventionally, software application
facilitates process involved in auditing, configuring and distributing commands to augment
interdependent information system performance.
The security and safety of the nation s critical infrastructure are significantly relying on measures
implemented to ensure software resiliency and dependability. According to statistics released by the
National Security Agency (NSA) chief General Keith Alexander in 2013, about 90 percent of the
nation s critical infrastructure is owned by the private sector, and therefore is not under the control of
the U.S. government or military. (Gripas, 2013) However,

Critique of Samuel Beckett s Waiting for Godot and...
Critique of Samuel Beckett s Waiting for Godot and Albert Camus The Stranger Modernist fiction is
incredibly dense and abstract. Writers from the twentieth century also seem to carry with them the
weight of the world, and thus their fiction has been filled with realistic misery and pain. Still, these
writers often add to this element with existentialist thematic structures, which construct a very unique
and experimental viewpoint on a modern existence. This is what is occurring in both Samuel Beckett s
Waiting for Godot as well as Albert Camus The Stranger. The two a very different in format, yet both
play upon the modernist idea of abandonment by God and the idea that there is an underlying sense of
nothingness that guides modern life. Each focuses on the notion of free will and how it determines our
lives in a world devoid of God. Together, these great works of contemporary fiction are a telling
testament to the changing nature of sentiments regarding both religion and the meaning of life in a
tumultuous twentieth century paradigm. The two works are written in very different styles, but each
has its own unique quality that adds to the overall success of the works themselves. Samuel Beckett s
Waiting for Godot is a play, and is thus written with stage directions and dialogue instructions, as it is
meant to be both a piece of literary mastery and a wonderful stage experience. It is this traditional play
structure that counterbalances the more modern thematic

Comprehensive Immigration Reform And The United States
Comprehensive immigration reform has been a pressing issue in the United States (U.S.) for decades.
Immigration reform was one of the major platforms the President used to campaign and draw an
unprecedented amount of Latino support. Six years after those promises were made, Congress and the
President continue to disagree about the methodology and necessary framework for such reform. Each
has proposed different approaches to solving immigration. Conservatives have pushed for stricter
enforcement of current immigration laws as well increased deportations without exceptions. The
President and his fellow Democrats have aimed for an immigration theory that can appeal to
humanitarian and economic perspectives.

To fully understand why immigration reform is such a highly contested measure, it bears analyzing
current laws and previous reform attempts. Part of the reason why immigration reform has been so
difficult to achieve is due to the vast number of current laws and regulations. Currently the U.S. has
many different classifications for incoming immigrants and varying quotas. Incoming documented
immigrants are classified in four ways: family based immigration, economic immigration, refugees
and asylum seekers, and diversity immigrants. There is an annual limit of 675,000 permanent
immigrants worldwide, with Congress and the President setting limits for refugee seekers
(Immigration Policy Center). Family sponsored visas are limited to 226,000 visas per year. Family
immigration allows citizens and permanent residents to sponsor family members, spouses, unmarried
minor children and parents, for visas, under qualifying conditions. There is also preference given to
the adult children and siblings of citizens and the spouses and unmarried children of permanent
residents (Immigration Policy Center). In the search for workers, the U.S. allows workers to
immigrate for a temporary or permanent basis. Workers are divided into categories and the majority
are for highly skilled workers, who are sponsored by an employer.

mother, he was born with hemophilia. Unfortunately, his mother s reliance on Grigori Rasputin, a holy

dynasty and start the February Revolution. This relationship with Rasputin and the Tsarina as well as
the four Grand Duchesses was frowned upon by extended family members wildly and eventually to
the Russian people. There were rumors that Rasputin had unsavory relations with all four of the
duchesses and this caused a great rift between the Royal family and the people as a whole. Rasputin

Differences of Cost Accounting and the Advantage of Activity Based Accounting
Cost and management accounting is an integral element in preparation of an entity s financial reports.
Cost accounting consists of various branches, including; job and process costing, absorption costing,

users of financial reports to make decisions to better the company, in reducing and streamlining costs,
to improve overall profits. The way in which managers achieve this can be a rigorous and time

can be achieved and an overall more efficient operation of the business will ensue. This essay will

Benefits Of High Intensity Power Training
In today s society, the overall trend and goal is to become fit and to reduce common
health risks such as obesity and diabetes. Many new programs have been developed to provide
people with the resources and community to achieve their goal of fitness. CrossFit is an example
of a recent exercise trend that have been exploding in popularity. CrossFit is a program created
by Greg Glassman and Lauren Jenai in 1996 but was not established until 2000. The original
CrossFit gym was brought up in Santa Cruz, California. Despite positive ratings, the CrossFit
program has been investigated for elevated risk of injuries and health. CrossFit gained popularity
across the world as a competitive fitness sport that promote a carried and high intensity workout
regimen incorporating elements of weightlifting, high intensity interval training, and gymnastics

of the light explosives (Remarque 68), we can clearly get a glimpse of what was going through his
head at the time of the first attack. Paul clearly understood he was being attacked and knew where he
stood in this situation. Paul s entire view on his enemy soon changed after he was sent to training
camp after his leave. He was given the position to guard the Russian prison and saw many things that
would change his view on the enemy forever. This is seen when he says, a word of command has
made these silent figures our enemies; a word of command might transform them into our friends
(Remarque 193). These thoughts were brought along when he saw the prisoners starving and dying
every day. The fact that he could relate to this was probably the reason he was so affected by the
prisoners. By the end of the novel, Paul had become a totally different character in the way that he
views his enemies. While in the front, Paul encounters a French soldier named Gerard Duval in a hand
to hand combat situation. Upon killing this man on instinct, Paul immediately regrets his decisions.
Reading the man s letters, treating his wounds, and promising to send his family money show how
Paul really pictures the men he is

strategies as metaphor, appeals, allusion, diction, understatement, etc., arguing the winning is
everything but you also you can t win if you didn t lose, his purpose motivate his team to win and the
time but eventually his speech became and motivational address to the American people, and to
everyone who reads it.
Lombardi uses metaphor to explain what he means by what he hints throughout the speech. The author
is not talking about playing with your heart literally, but he expects to listen to what your heart truly
wants, But more importantly, you ve got to play with your heart, with every fiber of your body. . The
speaker means that you should do your best and try your hardest.
Lombardi uses appeals in two different ways pathos, and logos. He appeals to the audience emotions
by using God as an example in his speech, I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. By using
god in his speech he is making his audience to use their hearts because God, and religion those are

The Long Goodbye, By John T. Edge, And The Alternate World
Stranger Businesses
There are certain professions in this world that everyday people could not fathom working in. This
article discusses the businesses of a mortuary in The Last Stop by Brian Cable, meat manufacturing in
I m Not Leaving Until I Eat This Thing by John T. Edge, and the alternate world among female
prisoners in The Long Goodbye: Mother s Day in Federal Prison by Amanda Coyne. To each of these
businesses, characters or speakers face a fear of the unusual components that these fields hold. Finally,
the individuals in these stories are conflicted with reaching a resolution to these fears. Working or
owning a business entails a significant period of a person s life, where one undertakes training in order
to be paid for that profession. The Last Stop comprises of a tour around a mortuary and its dealings
with the dead. This business in particular, Goodbody Mortuaries, prepares the deceased for a casket
viewing, offers funeral services, and handles burial arrangements. Mortuaries are among strange
businesses because Throughout our lives, death remains intensely private (Cable 64). For this reason,
the actual notion of embalming a person we once loved captures a bizarre image. Together with I m
Not Leaving Until I Eat This Thing , the meatpacking business known as Farm Fresh Food Supplier
operates on pickling and selling a variety of meats. In the story, an unusual demand for pig lips

Highlighting the Issue of Neo-Colonialism through Media...
The Effects of Neo Colonialism as presented in Motorcycle Diaries and A Small Place Neo
Colonialism is a very powerful and controversial issue in the world today. Countries such as the
United States, Great Brittan and France still greatly profit over the countries they left as independent
years ago. This paradox is created by the mother country exerting economic and political influence on
the former colonies; allowing them to still profit from these third world countries without actually
occupying them. Neo Colonialism produces a number of effects on the subject country, the majority of
these effects being negative. The novel A Small Place and the film Motorcycle Diaries discuss the
numerous effects of neo colonialism to a great extent the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The novel A Small Place is another piece that discusses the negative effects of neo colonialism. This
small novel is written in the second person, with the author directly addressing the reader. Through out
the novel the author points out the sad rundown state of her homeland Antigua. This state is firmly
placed on the degenerative effects of neo colonialism. The first effect of neo colonialism discussed in
A Small Place is the Antiguan economy. ?You look closely at the car; you see that it?s a model of a

Reflection Of The Film Corner In Wheat
Corner in Wheat Reflection Paper Corner in Wheat is a film created by D.W. Griffith in 1909. The
film focuses on the three divisions of the wheat market, which was rare at the time because most films
during the early twentieth century focused on people. The first division showcases the farmers who
grow the wheat. The next division portrays the Wheat King, a wealthy businessman who controls the
wheat market. The last division follows the bakery, the place that distributes the wheat, and the
consumers who purchase the bread that is made from the wheat. The film has a variety of elements
within the shots of the film. The depth of field is one of the elements that can be viewed in Corner in
Wheat. One of the last shots in the film is the farmer sprinkling wheat on the field. This shot shows
how the camera moves from background to the front ground, which presents deep space. The farmer is
shown walking from a distance sprinkling the wheat, eventually, as he continues walking he moves
closer to the camera as he goes about his business. The depth of the field of the farmer s field is
different than the depth of field in the grain elevator. D.W. Griffin emphasizes space with the
background because of the layout which, directly extends straight back to a door, making this shot
have deep space. Moreover, the movement of the people goes left to right. The staircase is on the left
and stands near the hole where the wheat is falling into the hole and the people are told to continue

Social Media And Its Effects On Our Lives
In my personal experience, social interaction online it helps me to keep in touch with families, friends
and also for networking, but in general my post is more likely about my family , Selfies or just simple
funny post that I may like. In particular, social media allows me to have easy communication access
with significant other that are out of the country.
Many of Us for the most part has been affected by social media in their daily person to person
interaction now days, the texting, email and media account like Facebook just to mention one of them
,has been eliminating the phone calls, letter or even deeper, it is affecting our relationship with our
families and friends because is more distance .
Recently my family has an event to celebrate one of my uncle s birthdays, in New Jersey, everything
was really nice, a great moment for members of the family to interact because some of us are living
out of the state. During the celebration everyone was on their cell phones taking pictures and posting
on their social media account, including myself.
My family is really big therefore, that event will give us an amazing opportunity for some of us to
know each other, and introduced some new members to one another, such as newly marriages, but
instead we all were more focus on been on our phones posting on social media rather than enjoy the
celebration and make my uncle feel good and happy.
We missed the time when all members of the family were seated in the table, enjoying our

Franz Haydn Accomplishments
The composer that I have chosen to write about is Franz Joseph Haydn. I selected this composer over
all the rest because he is said to be the creator of the fundamental genres of classical music. Franz
Haydn is considered by some as the father of the symphony and the father of the string quartet. He
also influenced and inspired many other composers. For instance, many say Ludwig van Beethoven
was one of his pupils. Beethoven is a fundamental composer (so anyone who teaches him is, as a
result, fundamental himself). And some even go as far as saying that he was responsible for the
success of both Mozart and Beethoven. During the time that he lived (between March 31, 1732 and
May 31, 1809) the main element of music was the counterpoint. He, however,

Kumon Bedroom Observation Report
As I completed my work in Kumon,a math and reading educational center that helps children with
standardized testing; all I could focus on was the prize drawers. Kumon s one large gray room with
seven or eight long tables. The owners of Kumon are an Asian couple, Mr. and Mrs. Chang. When I
completed my work and hastily checked it over I rushed to turn it into Mr. Chang. He quickly and
happily reviewed it, I received a hundred. My best friend Muskaan stood next to one of their helpers
Mr. Jordan, she managed to pull out a hundred too. Muskaan, my fifth grade friend and I (a fourth
grader)carpool to Kumon after school every Monday and Wednesday. Since both of us managed to
pull out hundreds so each of us were awarded five Kumon dollars. A Kumon dollars allows students to
buy prizes. Kailey what are will you get from the store? Muskaan questioned. I m buying the glorious
highlighter, I exclaimed excitedly. The highlighter is truly astonishing it s a triple sided highlighter
with my three favorite colors. A vibrant pink, a neon yellow and a light green. We walked over to the

Chymotrypsin Essay
Chymotrypsin mimics. D Souza along with other researchers were investigated the use of an artificial
chymotrypsin with the binding site of cyclodextrin with the catalytic site of an imidazolyl group, a
carboxylic acid and a hydroxyl acid. The synthetic chymotrypsin has a reduced molecular weight and
they believed that the real and artificial enzyme had the same catalytic activity. The model enzyme as
seen in figure 1 has a molecular weight of 1365 g mol 1 and is made up of 24 serine proteases. The
active site is only known through X ray crystallography and because of this knowledge surrounding
the mechanism is limited. The crystallography data shows the proposed mechanism involves three
main molecules in the active site. These are serine 195, histidine 57 and aspartate 102. They believe
the functional groups hold all importance in relation to reaction. The functional groups are a hydroxyl
group an imidazolyl group and the carboxylate ion. Figure 1: Small mimic molecule of ... Show more

If the charge relay system was occurring the pH would be more consistent with that of the
chymotrypsin at 7.4. The solvent isotope effect that is claimed to be evidence of the charge relay
system is the same as that for the hydrolysis of m (tert butyl) phenyl acetate by for chymotrypsin
which alters the pKa of the secondary hydroxyls allowing hydrolysis to occur. Breslow and Chung
back up the claims made by Zimmerman determining that the reaction must proceed via the imidazole
acting as a general base to deprotonate the cyclodextrin hydroxyl group. The claim that the mimic
model hydrolyses 2.5 equivalents of m (tert butyl) phenol continuously Zimmerman claims that this is
false as they monitored the release of m (tert butyl) phenol. Since the mimic contains thirteen
secondary hydroxyl groups, multiple acylation s are able to occur without

Railroad Industrialization

large being done they had the slightest of idea what was in store for them. They were one week into
the project already hitting their budget to build the railroad, and they only had 50 miles of railroad
out... How were they to get these transcontinental railroads threw the country as it was so much more
expensive for them than expected.
Industrialization was large for they now had a larger population that was rapidly growing, people were
wanting to get to california, have new black leather shoes, and be able to go to a local butcher shop

Literary Analysis Of Bule De Suif
While at first glance Maupassant s story Boule de Suif seems to merely be a story of fellow travelers
and their struggles to continue their journey, it in fact presents a more political and patriotic view of
their journey and quarrels. The main characters, all of whom are French, are crowded together on a
stagecoach and begin discussing their distaste and hatred for the Prussians, and their pride for the
heroic acts of the French in the war. While the story begins with pride and patriotism for the groups
country, it will become apparent by the end that the prostitute Boule de Suif is in fact the only true
patriot of the group. This sense of patriotism found in Boule de Suif also allows for a very unique
insight into the political and economic themes residing within the story itself. Within the traveling
group an odd mix of people come together to make for a very interesting position regarding social
class and politics. Among the group there are nuns, prostitutes and members of the high class society
of France. While they all come from different ways of life, they all experience the same sympathy and
pride in their country and their distaste for the Prussians and the terrible things done by them . Even
with this common pride for their country one cannot help to notice the symbolism and imagery of each
character s distinct social class and role. In the first scenes of the story a certain disrespect is shown to
Boule de Suif due to her low standards of living and

The Impact Of Gaming On The Gaming Industry
Since the video game console industry had a narrow focus, the entire gaming industry was used for
this scenario planning exercise. The environmental scan focused mainly on the competitive aspect and
left out many external factors. In order to give adequate attention to the external environment, a
PESTEL analysis was conducted. This helped determine external factors that the gaming industry
faced that were not in control of a single company, or their competitors.
PESTEL
In the political aspect of PESTEL, the main focus was on globalization and product dispersion. Most
gaming devices are made overseas, China and Brazil, so international trade plays a major part in
acquiring these products (CITE FROM SCAN). Items like trade restrictions, import duties and
taxation are all things no competitor in the gaming console industry has control over. The legal section
shares many similarities to the political one. The main focus here was trade and internet regulations.
Gaming has shifted from being a solo action, to one played with others around the world. The top
economic concern in this industry is the amount disposable income available. Gaming is a luxury
good, so as income falls the sales of the product decreases as well (CITE). The economic growth,
interest, inflation, exchange rate and unemployment all have a huge impact on the industry. Since the
world is interconnected, if the exchange rate difference becomes great, cost burdens will have to be
passed onto the consumer.

Essay on Everyday Use
Everyday Use
When we meet our narrator, the mother of Maggie and Dee, she is waiting in the yard with Maggie for
Dee to visit. The mother takes simple pleasure in such a pleasant place where, anyone can come back
and look up at the elm tree and wait for the breezes that never come inside the house. (Walker 383)
This is her basic attitude, the simple everyday pleasures that have nothing to do with great ideas,
cultural heritage or family or racial histories. She later reveals to us that she is even more the rough
rural woman since she, can kill and clean a hog as mercilessly as a man. (Walker 383) Hardly a
woman one would expect to have much patience with hanging historical quilts on a wall. Daughter
Maggie is very much the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the quilts has a tiny piece of blue cloth from Great Grandpa Ezra s Civil War uniform. Mother
offers Dee two other quilts instead because the ones Dee wants are promised to Maggie for when
Maggie marries, but Dee won t settle for those since the other quilts are not as old and are not entirely
hand made. Maggie even volunteers to give up her claim on the quilts, but Mother refuses to allow
that.
Just before Dee leaves, she tells her mother, You just don t understand...your heritage. ( Walker 389)
After Dee drives away, Mother and Maggie remained in the yard, just enjoying, until it was time to go
in the house and go to bed. (Walker 389)
The essential question being explored by Alice Walker is the conflict between someone who has
recently discovered her family and racial heritage and wants to preserve its symbols (Dee) and
someone who has lived intimately with those symbols in their utilitarian sense (Momma). Dee has left
the old rural homestead and its backward ways behind her. Indeed, when she first left for school,
Momma offered Dee one of the old quilts that Dee now covets, but Dee refused because they were old
fashioned, out of style. (Walker 388) Now, Dee returns home looking for heritage treasures which she
hopes to rescue from being used and worn out or being left in the bottom of a trunk. This all rings true
with her adopting her new African name and her male companion who sports similar attributes. This
story was

  • 2. A Student s Right to Their Own Language Interpretive Essay Chelsea T Should Students be Able to Use the Dialect They Choose? The Conference on College Composition and Communication discusses two very important and controversial questions within their article Students Right to Their Own Language : What should the schools do about the language habits of students who come from a wide variety of social, economic, and cultural backgrounds? (2), and Should the schools try to uphold language variety, or to modify it, or to eradicate it? (2). While for academic writing purposes students should be expected to use standard American dialect, it is important to respect the diversity and various heritages throughout the country by allowing students to use the dialect they choose when speaking. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Allowing students to speak dialects they chose when communicating with peers is acceptable outside of the classroom and in informal class discussions because there are no requirements that are necessary to reach within casual communication. If people were not able to speak the dialect they prefer, we would be rejecting them of their own lifestyles because we would not be allowing the freedom which the United States promises. Standard American dialect is necessary in academic writing for three key reasons. First, the ability to use standard American dialect is a skill that people living in America should obtain because it is the most spoken and written language across the country. Having the knowledge to use standard American dialect will be helpful in many different situations, such as in the classroom and business world. In addition, being able to write using this dialect, will guide in writing a stronger, clearer paper, as well as ensuring unity between all academic writing. I disagree with the following statement from Students Right to Their Own Language : We affirm strongly that teachers must have the experiences and training that will enable them to respect diversity and uphold the right of students to their own language (3). The counsel is reviewing Madame Dove s actions on three folds, 1, is her action to wage war constitutional? 2, is her action violate the constitution check and balances of powers? 3 is her action completely unconstitutional? These are the questions we will be answering with the fact patterns available. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight there are conflicts between man and man just like there are in the world we live in today. Conflicts in books or stories could show what is going on in the real world or what an author is thinking and making up.In Wuthering Heights there could be two different conflicts man vs. man, with the conflict between Heathcliff and Edgar, as well as a conflict of man vs. self, with the inner conflict that Catherine faces ... Several writers such as Stephen Crane, Wilfred Owen, Tim O Brien, and Kevin Powers are especially known to protest against war through their forms of writing. Although structure is a complex tool to use when trying to support an argument, it can serve as one of the most impactful tools that authors can use because it is sets up their form of writing and presents the audience with a specific style. The style that is created from the writer s structure is what affects the reader s mindset on the topic of the writing. For example, if a writing s structure is set up like a list, then the reader is most likely going to believe that the author is just trying to get to each of his or her points without trying to make the reader feel any emotion and so their writing is going to sound dull or bland. The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien has a structure set up just like that type of list. His list consists of the necessities that soldiers carried to war such as P 38 can openers, pocket knives, heat tabs, wristwatches, dog tags, mosquito repellent, chewing gum, candy, cigarettes, salt tablets, packets of Kool Aid, lighters, matches, sewing kits, Military Payment Certificates, C rations, and two or three canteens of water (2). O Brien uses a list to help create his structure by implying that most of this equipment can not help them and the tone it creates is straightforward to imply the dull aspects of war. Writers from the twentieth century also seem to carry with them the weight of the world, and thus their fiction has been filled with realistic misery and pain. Still, these writers often add to this element with existentialist thematic structures, which construct a very unique and experimental viewpoint on a modern existence. This is what is occurring in both Samuel Beckett s Waiting for Godot as well as Albert Camus The Stranger. The two a very different in format, yet both play upon the modernist idea of abandonment by God and the idea that there is an underlying sense of nothingness that guides modern life. Each focuses on the notion of free will and how it determines our lives in a world devoid of God. Together, these great works of contemporary fiction are a telling testament to the changing nature of sentiments regarding both religion and the meaning of life in a tumultuous twentieth century paradigm. The two works are written in very different styles, but each has its own unique quality that adds to the overall success of the works themselves. These thoughts were brought along when he saw the prisoners starving and dying every day. The fact that he could relate to this was probably the reason he was so affected by the prisoners. By the end of the novel, Paul had become a totally different character in the way that he views his enemies. While in the front, Paul encounters a French soldier named Gerard Duval in a hand to hand combat situation. Upon killing this man on instinct, Paul immediately regrets his decisions. The Effects of Neo Colonialism as presented in Motorcycle Diaries and A Small Place Neo Colonialism is a very powerful and controversial issue in the world today. Countries such as the United States, Great Brittan and France still greatly profit over the countries they left as independent years ago. This paradox is created by the mother country exerting economic and political influence on the former colonies; allowing them to still profit from these third world countries without actually occupying them. Neo Colonialism produces a number of effects on the subject country, the majority of these effects being negative. • 24. Reflection Of The Film Corner In Wheat Corner in Wheat Reflection Paper Corner in Wheat is a film created by D.W. Griffith in 1909. The film focuses on the three divisions of the wheat market, which was rare at the time because most films during the early twentieth century focused on people. The first division showcases the farmers who grow the wheat. The next division portrays the Wheat King, a wealthy businessman who controls the wheat market. The last division follows the bakery, the place that distributes the wheat, and the consumers who purchase the bread that is made from the wheat. The film has a variety of elements within the shots of the film. The depth of field is one of the elements that can be viewed in Corner in Wheat. One of the last shots in the film is the farmer sprinkling wheat on the field. This shot shows how the camera moves from background to the front ground, which presents deep space. The farmer is shown walking from a distance sprinkling the wheat, eventually, as he continues walking he moves closer to the camera as he goes about his business. The depth of the field of the farmer s field is different than the depth of field in the grain elevator. D.W. Griffin emphasizes space with the background because of the layout which, directly extends straight back to a door, making this shot have deep space. Moreover, the movement of the people goes left to right. The staircase is on the left and stands near the hole where the wheat is falling into the hole and the people are told to continue ... • 26. Franz Haydn Accomplishments The composer that I have chosen to write about is Franz Joseph Haydn. I selected this composer over all the rest because he is said to be the creator of the fundamental genres of classical music. Franz Haydn is considered by some as the father of the symphony and the father of the string quartet. He also influenced and inspired many other composers. For instance, many say Ludwig van Beethoven was one of his pupils. Beethoven is a fundamental composer (so anyone who teaches him is, as a result, fundamental himself). And some even go as far as saying that he was responsible for the success of both Mozart and Beethoven. During the time that he lived (between March 31, 1732 and May 31, 1809) the main element of music was the counterpoint. He, however, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Chymotrypsin Essay Chymotrypsin mimics. D Souza along with other researchers were investigated the use of an artificial chymotrypsin with the binding site of cyclodextrin with the catalytic site of an imidazolyl group, a carboxylic acid and a hydroxyl acid. The synthetic chymotrypsin has a reduced molecular weight and they believed that the real and artificial enzyme had the same catalytic activity. The model enzyme as seen in figure 1 has a molecular weight of 1365 g mol 1 and is made up of 24 serine proteases. The active site is only known through X ray crystallography and because of this knowledge surrounding the mechanism is limited. The crystallography data shows the proposed mechanism involves three main molecules in the active site. These are serine 195, histidine 57 and aspartate 102. They believe the functional groups hold all importance in relation to reaction. The functional groups are a hydroxyl group an imidazolyl group and the carboxylate ion. • 31. Literary Analysis Of Bule De Suif While at first glance Maupassant s story Boule de Suif seems to merely be a story of fellow travelers and their struggles to continue their journey, it in fact presents a more political and patriotic view of their journey and quarrels. The main characters, all of whom are French, are crowded together on a stagecoach and begin discussing their distaste and hatred for the Prussians, and their pride for the heroic acts of the French in the war. While the story begins with pride and patriotism for the groups country, it will become apparent by the end that the prostitute Boule de Suif is in fact the only true patriot of the group. This sense of patriotism found in Boule de Suif also allows for a very unique insight into the political and economic themes residing within the story itself. Within the traveling group an odd mix of people come together to make for a very interesting position regarding social class and politics. Among the group there are nuns, prostitutes and members of the high class society of France. While they all come from different ways of life, they all experience the same sympathy and pride in their country and their distaste for the Prussians and the terrible things done by them . Even with this common pride for their country one cannot help to notice the symbolism and imagery of each character s distinct social class and role. In the first scenes of the story a certain disrespect is shown to Boule de Suif due to her low standards of living and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Impact Of Gaming On The Gaming Industry Since the video game console industry had a narrow focus, the entire gaming industry was used for this scenario planning exercise. The environmental scan focused mainly on the competitive aspect and left out many external factors. In order to give adequate attention to the external environment, a PESTEL analysis was conducted. This helped determine external factors that the gaming industry faced that were not in control of a single company, or their competitors. PESTEL In the political aspect of PESTEL, the main focus was on globalization and product dispersion. Most gaming devices are made overseas, China and Brazil, so international trade plays a major part in acquiring these products (CITE FROM SCAN). Items like trade restrictions, import duties and taxation are all things no competitor in the gaming console industry has control over. The legal section shares many similarities to the political one. The main focus here was trade and internet regulations. Gaming has shifted from being a solo action, to one played with others around the world. The top economic concern in this industry is the amount disposable income available. Gaming is a luxury good, so as income falls the sales of the product decreases as well (CITE). The economic growth, interest, inflation, exchange rate and unemployment all have a huge impact on the industry. Since the world is interconnected, if the exchange rate difference becomes great, cost burdens will have to be passed onto the consumer. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The mother takes simple pleasure in such a pleasant place where, anyone can come back and look up at the elm tree and wait for the breezes that never come inside the house. (Walker 383) This is her basic attitude, the simple everyday pleasures that have nothing to do with great ideas, cultural heritage or family or racial histories. She later reveals to us that she is even more the rough rural woman since she, can kill and clean a hog as mercilessly as a man. Maggie even volunteers to give up her claim on the quilts, but Mother refuses to allow that. Just before Dee leaves, she tells her mother, You just don t understand...your heritage. ( Walker 389) After Dee drives away, Mother and Maggie remained in the yard, just enjoying, until it was time to go in the house and go to bed. (Walker 389) The essential question being explored by Alice Walker is the conflict between someone who has recently discovered her family and racial heritage and wants to preserve its symbols (Dee) and someone who has lived intimately with those symbols in their utilitarian sense (Momma). Dee has left the old rural homestead and its backward ways behind her. Indeed, when she first left for school, Momma offered Dee one of the old quilts that Dee now covets, but Dee refused because they were old fashioned, out of style.
