Reflection On Reading And Writing
Title Reading and writing has always been one my strengths throughout high school. With every
english course I ve taken, there have been multiple writing assignments that are assigned with
instructions different from the last. For example, coming from a regular english class with a standard
curriculum to a college class that has very high expectations, was an extreme wake up call for me but I
was ready for the challenge. Growing up with writing skills that seem reasonably natural, I have
always been able to write an essay a day or two before the deadline. When I realized that taking
composition meant longer papers and higher standards, I was forced to work more diligently on my
papers and learn how to critique every error or attribute. The more essays I wrote during this course,
the more it allowed me to obtain a better understanding of how important it is to plan or re read my
work in order to receive the grade I wanted. This semester, I overall altered my procrastination habits,
improved upon my proofreading and editing skills which lead to knowing how to properly writing a
five paragraph essay. Regarding all the knowledge I ve learned about writing a superior paper, I also
improved my habits when it comes to procrastination and deadlines. When taking a college level class,
I was overwhelmed by the amount of work that is needed to get an acceptable grade but I was
determined to push through. In the past, I would very rarely start my essay when assaigend, I would

Justice Is A Key Element Of Justice
My idea of justice has evolved in nuanced ways in which I did not predict at the onset of this course. I
have held consistent the idea of creating a more equal world as a key element of justice. However, I
have added important nuances in the way in which I think about and discuss this issue. I discussed
equality in my initial definition of justice. This sense of equality has developed to include non human
animals and even matter into this conversation. Through Bennett I have embraced the idea of
flattening out the current human on top hierarchy by elevating non human animals and matter to a
similar plane as humans. In my definition of justice currently, I include not only obvious human issues
but also issues of matter and animals. This being said, it is integral to clarify that the major crises that
are present in our world cannot be categorized as solei human , animal or matter issues. What effects
one, effects all. No individual node can be separated from the assemblage that not only influences, but
comprises it.
While I still support my assertion that justice can be found through the respecting and valuing of all
things, my understanding of the nature of this respect has deepened. It is difficult to gain deep respect
for things that you do not have intimate knowledge of. At the onset of the course, I knew I should
respect matter, however, if it had not been for this course I would not have understood why I should
have a deep respect for the lives of the

The Role Of Models For A Person s Life
According to Google, a role model is a person looked to by others as an example to be imitated. Rosa
Parks once said, Each person must live their life as a model for others. I think this expresses just how
important role models are in a person s life. Role models can come from all aspects of life but they
start in your home with your family. Your family can set an example by showing how to live everyday
life as a good person if they are the proper role model. Actors, musicians, and other widely known
people can be exceptional role models. Their influence is shown through their movies, music, or how
they are viewed. Most people have athletes they can look to as role models. Athletes can teach many
life lessons including, how they play sports or their attitude toward the sport. [Thesis] Role models
can come from multiple aspects of life and can have countless effects on you as a person.
Whether it is a good influence or a bad one, it is unarguable that one of the first groups of people to
have a lasting effect in your life is your family. To be more specific almost every child s first role
models are their parents. The majority of young boys want to be big and strong, just like their father,
and most young girls aspire to be just like their beautiful mother. To quote W.E.B Dubois, Children
learn more from what you are than what you teach . One of the basic traits of being a good role model
is to lead by example. Whether a parent s example they are setting for the child is

Human Rights Violations
Many people don t have the privilege of living a life where they can take advantage of their human
rights and feel secure. All around the world human rights violation occur on a daily basis and many
people aren t aware of the struggles other people in other countries go through or people disregard
these violations. In the Central African Republic, women and girls are used as sexual slaves, are being
raped and beaten as a weapon of war between the Seleka and anti balaka. Another instance of, human
rights violation is that in Egypt many people are being imprisoned for supporting and or being part of
the Lgbt campaign. In these two countries, human rights are being neglected and people aren t treated
and disregarded as humans.
In the Central African Republic, women and girls between the ages of 10 and 75 are being raped,
kidnapped, and used as sexual slaves as a tactic of war by the Muslim Seleka and the Christian and
animist militia called anti balaka from early 2013 to mid 2017. According to the article They said we
are their Slaves by Smita Sharma it discusses that in some cases of sexual slavery the Seleka or anti
Balaka committed sexual violence and exerted ownership over victims, women or girls who
experienced multiple rapes over a period of weeks. 17 women and 4 girls say that they experienced
violence by an armed group that included capturing women, beating them and other physical abuse.
All these cases happened in the capital, Bangui, and around the towns of

Final Research Paper
When you go to use your Keurig machine in the morning, chances are that you have some pods filled
with grounds that were grown in Colombia. Their highly coveted coffee bean is sought after by coffee
enthusiasts and in turn the work force is willingly to harvest and process the bean. Next to Brazil and
Vietnam, Colombia is the third highest producer of coffee in the world. Since this commodity is
popular, Colombia takes advantage of the global commodity and its demand for what they have to sell.
We also are going to take on the county of Vietnam Both and Brazil are the top profomers in. As of
2014, Columbia is the third highest producer of coffee only matched by Vietnam and Brazil at #1.
Columbia is on their way to being a fully developed country despite the social ills of their society
mainly being drug trade. Being in South America the climate is ideal for the cultivation of crops as
exports This climate, however is starting to have negative effects on the cultivation of the crop as
temperatures have risen and precipitation is threatening the delicate soil needed to harvest the bean.
Some other commodities produced in Columbia are petroleum, coal, emeralds, coffee, nickel, cut
flowers, bananas, and apparel. I hope to tie my entire research back into the concept of fair trade. This
provides livable wages to workers/ farmers of the crop at a fair price per lb.

Sweatshops Case Study
Savior from Sweatshops
A large majority of Americans do not realize where the clothes they purchase are produced.
Unethically made goods are predominantly less expensive than goods made outside of sweatshops.
With the increase in investigations, it is apparent major brands such as Nike, Disney, Reebok, the Gap
and others are involved in the use of sweatshops. Sweatshops are commonly known for having poor
working conditions, unfair wages, unreasonable hours, child labor, and a lack of benefits for workers.
In foreign countries, sweatshops have around 168 million children ages 5 to 14 forced into child labor
( 11 Facts ). Labor conditions are violated, and are often ignored by the US Department of Labor.
Sweatshops are still ongoing due to the ignorance or lack of care for the people involved in a
sweatshop corporation. With the awareness of where the majority of inexpensive clothing is
manufactured, the public and major American companies should reconsider supporting sweatshops. It
is unethical for the American consumer to purchase clothing from companies who use sweatshops as
means to mass produce clothing lines. This is due to the fact that people have to willingly work in
unbearable work conditions, in order to obtain a job which is essential to survival. Workers are given
no leverage for negotiations, and they are forced to accept the sweatshop lifestyle or suffer through
degrading poverty. Acknowledged through multiple witnesses, work conditions are

Pet Grooming
Grooming is an important part of dog care. Depending on the breed, age, and health of the dog,
grooming may be a daily activity. Many breeds require significantly less grooming than this, but
regular grooming helps to ensure the dog is healthy and comfortable.

Start up inventory will be mainly shampoo and grooming supplies, food for the dogs, and other
supplies like bedding. Assets will be the kennels and play structures for the dogs, and the bathing
facilities.
Services
Pawsitive Pet grooming offers upscale dog owners a place where they can leave their pets while at
work, and away for weekend trips or on vacation. It also offers feeding and exercising, as well as
washing, grooming and low level veterinary services. The location will be a large lot on the outskirts
of a high income residential area. Our projections include a heavy rent because of the location
requirements. Customers pay by the day, by the hour, or by the month. Our assumption is that the
average customer generates about Php. 50,000.00 per month.
Market Analysis Summary
The market for Pawsitive Pet grooming is all of the dog owners in the metropolitan area and
surrounding areas of the city. We believe that this is going to be 2/3 of the population, and we have a
goal of gaining a 50% market share. We have a target of a 20% yearly profit increase as the business
continues.
3.1 Target Market Segment Strategy
We have chosen our target market because they own canines and have the ability to afford a service
such as Pawsitive Pet Grooming. We are aware that our service is an extra in life, not a necessity. We
anticipate and expect to cater to the upper class

Discrimination of Irish Catholic Immigrants During the...
Discrimination of Irish Catholic Immigrants During the 1920 s
During the 1920 s there were many controversial issues. There was a concern about declining moral
and ethical values, which led to restrictions such as prohibition for example. The concern about these
issues seemed most intense when they pertained to religion. In situations like these it always seems
necessary to place the blame somewhere. One particular group on which this blame was emphasized
happened to be the immigrants. Irish Catholic immigrants were a main focus of discrimination in
many ways.
The fight for immigration restriction was fueled by America s negative view of foreigners. Protestants
especially made it a point to link alcohol ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fear that surrounded this time period was a perfect way to spread the propaganda of the Klan. It
was believed that this group of immigrants held their primary allegiance to a foreign sovereign over
loyalty to the United States. This anti Catholicism was a driving force behind the popularity of the
KKK. To show the mentality of the time, there was no tax on Klan fees because they were considered
to be a benevolent society by the government. The fact that the KKK adamantly discriminated against
the Irish Catholics may seem surprising because the majority of today s population would assume that
the Klan s members encompassed any person who appeared to be Caucasian.
This group of immigrants was also discriminated in the workplace. Employers made the wages for this
group lower than wages of other employees. The intention for this ill treatment was that the
immigrants would warn their Irish relatives of the bad conditions here in the U.S. discouraging them
from immigrating as well as to encourage the Irish Catholic immigrant employees who resided in the
U.S. to leave.
This direct discrimination against the Irish Catholic immigrants was hypocritical in the democratic and
liberal society of America. It is wrong to allow one group to infringe upon another one s rights just
because of religious

Essay On Red Fort
The history of Red Fort Delhi cannot be summed up in words as its history is connected with centuries
of Mughal rule in country. Mughal ruler Shah Jahan had varied needs of this fort and it was made
according to those needs. The mammoth sized fort made a distinguished presence in the medieval time
of India and is related to the time line of this country to this date. In 1639, when Mughal ruler Shah
Jahan transited his capital from Agra to Delhi, the construction of Red Fort was ordered by him in the
north eastern side of the newly founded city of Shahjahanabad. Shahjahanabad in present day is
known as Old Delhi. The construction took nearly a decade to complete, and Yamuna water was used

Uses of Eggs in Bakery
Eggs have many uses in baking and cooking. They can bind ingredient, they can also leaven such
baked high rises as soufflés and sponge cakes. Their thickening talent is seen in custards and sauces.
Eggs emulsify. They clarify soups and coffee. Eggs retard crystallization. They also enable coating. In
general, eggs add color and flavor.
COAGULATION
When eggs are heated, the protein in the white and yolks starts to coagulate. This means that the liquid
egg becomes firmer. As heating continues the egg eventually becomes solid.
A sauce or custard can be thickened by egg and heating, critical to many recipes.
When eggs are heated, their proteins unwind (called denaturing) and break apart from their tightly
bound bundles, bump up against one another, and adhere to form loose, flat and long strands. These
strands are linked together in a three dimensional mesh. Example: With egg whites because they turn
from clear to opaque, forming a solid gel. Liquid gets trapped in these strands, and this causes the
mixture to thicken.
BINDERS
Whole raw egg adds moisture to a mixture and holds the ingredients together. As the food is heated,
egg protein coagulates, thus binding ingredients together. This is a very useful property for binding in
products such as meat loaves, formed meat and poultry products and for natural thickening of custards
and pie fillings. The temperature of coagulation can be controlled by adjusting pH, adding salts

Prison Reform Pros And Cons
Correctional reform will not happen until the profits are removed from the topic. The majority of
prisons, parole, and probation offices are run by privately owned companies. The prison has become
big business . There should be no profits in the corrections. Prisons have evolved into an extended
vacation without members of the opposite sex. But there have been cases of female guards having sex
with inmates. There should not be flat screens TVS or video games. They should be given the basic
tools of life and expected to produce their own living essentials. Prison is not supposed to be fun and
relaxing, it is supposed to be miserable to reinforce the idea that it s not a place you want to be.
Protective custody should not be offered to sex offenders and other members of society who would
become targeted in the general population. People argue that this violates their civil rights, but these
people were aware that their behavior could violate rights when they partook in the illegal activities.

Random Family follows an extended family living in the Bronx, bonded by blood, love, and their
commitments to each other. Throughout their lives, these individuals interact with various public
health and social services, yet their experiences demonstrate the numerous gaps in services provided
and moreover how critical access is. Despite some successful points of entry, Coco s story highlights
the significant adversity she and her children face on a regular basis. This paper examines the needs of
Coco and her children, their attempts at accessing different services, and the obvious gaps present in
health and social service sectors. The WHO defines health as a state of physical, mental, and social
well being. Coco s children, particularly Mercedes and Pearl, experience various health problems;
they receive adequate support for some but not all. Pearl, born three months premature, could have fit
into the palm of one hand (p. 210). Released after six months, Pearl required significant medical
interventions for her to stay alive and healthy. She required multiple asthma treatments a day, and took
a many medications for her health issues. Additionally, she required constant attention and support
from her family members; this included visits to the doctor, medicine and treatments, and observation
for oncoming seizures. Coco s oldest daughter, Mercedes, experiences her own physical health issues,

The Periodic Table Of Elements
Throughout history the periodic table of elements has been influenced and amended by multiple
scientists. These scientists include Johann Dobereiner, A.E Beguyer de Chancourtois, John Newlands,
and Glenn Seaborg. As well as Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev and Lothar Meyer the creators of the
periodic table. There are many ways that the periodic table of elements was set out. For example the
table can be organized using patterns between atomic numbers, electronegativity, ionization energy,
structure (gas or solid) valence electrons and electron configuration (shells) as seen in the modern day
periodic table. Before history was recorded humans had knowledge of certain elements including gold
(Au), copper (Cu), silver (Ag), mercury (Hg), tin (Sn) and lead (Pb). Nevertheless, it wasn t until the
year of 1669 that Hennig Brand discovered the very first element Phosphorous (P) through scientific
inquiry. Hennig Brand discovered phosphorous through extracting it from urine. Due to the element
having the ability to grow in the dark it was referred to as light bearer . In 1980 English chemist
Robert Boyle discovered phosphorous independently, following Hennig Brand keeping the process of
his discovery secret. Additionally, Johann Dobereiner began grouping elements with like properties
into triads groups of 3 elements between 1817 and 1829. His work began in 1817 after he noticed that
the atomic weight of Strontium (Sr) was medially between the atomic weights of calcium and

Five Key Components Of Customer Service To The New Zealand...
Question One
Research at least two tourism or travel texts and identify five key components of customer service to
the New Zealand tourism or travel industry.
There are many ways for one to show good customer service and as said by Collier (2011), good
customer service is essential. Collier mentions that meeting and exceeding customer expectations is
the way to good customer service. To give good customer service, key methods would be being
consistent and continuous with work ethic and attitude, and constantly doing this. Being thoughtful
too not only customers, but other colleges are a key component as well as availability to customers.
This is important as customers need to feel as if you are willing and able to provide your service.
Punctuality and grooming are also mentioned as critical elements as it is how you present yourself to
customers.
Colliers skills and qualities mentioned replicate the five key components of customer service said by
the SERVQUAL service measuring system (Parasuraman, Zeithaml Berry 1988). The first component
is tangible, meaning the staff should have a tidy appearance, and all facilities should be clean and
presented well. Reliability is also a key component, customers should be able to trust the staff
members to do the correct job without fail. Responsiveness is also important, meaning the staff
member being prepared and eager to help the customer s and do it knowing that the customer is their
number one priority. Staff members need to

Vinegar Lab Report
How Much Acetic Acid Is in Vinegar?
The chemical makeup of certain acids and bases that are not managed reacted properly can be harmful
and a result of improperly measured acids and bases. This could have a negative effect on humans
pertaining to different liquids that could be consumed or physically hazardous to the body. However,
due to decades of research in the department of science, it can be confirmed that ideas like the HSAB
Principle and the Lewis Principle help categorize acids and bases between being harmful or not and
secondarily help humans be more cautious, according to professor Tse Lok Ho.1 However,
experimental these measurements can be specified and determined through titrations. According to
Jakub Ederer and other researchers, titrations have quick and determinable results and do not require a
lot of money and are commonly used for acids.2 The Lab Manual provides an experiment that
includes a titration to determine the moles of acetic acid (HC2H3O2) in a specific amount of vinegar.3
To follow through with this experiment, the acid base reaction has a known molar concentration of
NaOH solution that reacts with an unknown molar concentration of acetic acid to make water and
NaC2H3O2, resulting in a titration. Before the initial trial titration, a thorough cleaning procedure of
the buret and materials was necessary to ensure there is no contamination of other chemicals or
solutions. The buret was washed out with soap, tap water, and distilled water with no

Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course #63
I strongly believe everyone is a Leader; we all play an important role in the success or failure of each
other and the Coast Guard. It is my duty as a Coast Guardsman to inspire greatness, develop a
professional workforce, and foster a culture of prosperity poised to overcome today and tomorrow s
challenges, learning from yesterdays successes and failures.
Throughout my career I have been greatly influenced by leaders with remarkable leadership qualities.
A phrase I use often is What do you think . As a young Petty Officer, my supervisor often used the
phrase What do you think . This simplistic phrase was consistently communicated to me when I asked
a question and it assisted me in answering many of my own questions by leading me to conduct my
own research and formulating favorable solutions. My Officer in Charge at Station Key West was a

African Nova Scotians Character Analysis
Caucasian Canadians gave stereotypes to African Nova Scotians based on their race and the

Road Bike Advantages And Disadvantages
MTB or ATB is an abbreviation for mountain or all terrain bicycle. Their construction differs from a
normal bicycle as they have suspensioned frame to stand the mountain trails, logging roads ,
washouts, loose gravel, roots and all other unpaved conditions they are often used in. Other than that
they have knobby treaded heavy duty wheels, more powerful brakes and lower gear ratios to withstand
steep hills with poor traction. As a result of this development in 1970s many kinds of different
mountain bikes appeared on the market as cross country, freeride and downhill MTBs.

It takes around five percent materials and energy used to make a car to build a bicycle and it produces
zero pollution.
Avoid pollution
You might think that a cyclist sucks up more pollution than a driver of a car or a bus passenger, but
this is wrong according to the research conducted by Imperial college in London. The car driver sucks
up more exhaust fumes (ultrafarine particles that can damage our lung cells),an average car driver
sucks up more than 100 000 particles per cubic centimeter, more than 10 times bigger amount of
inhaled pollution than the cyclist does, as the cyclist rides at the edge of the road not in the line of
exposure.

Beat illness
Forget about diets, riding is the best way to keep doctor away! Moderate exercise makes immune cells
more active so they re ready to fight off infection, says Cath Collins, a chief dietician at St. Georges
Hospital in London.
Lose weight
A lot of people think that running is the best way for slimming down. This is right but think about it if
a person weights 120kg and every time he hits his/her feet to the ground all of the force goes to the
skeleton. So start cycling, where most of the weight is supported by the saddle.

The Problem Of Social Psychology
Social psychology is the study of how people think, feel, and act as a result of being present among
others. At times, a direct contact is not required to fully influence a person. The imagined or implied
presence of others is sufficient to carry out a full effect on another person. Examples to portray how
the impact of others can have an authority over the way we function socially can be found almost
anywhere around us. The media is filled with many examples from recent headlines that may offer an
illustration of this phenomenon. In recent news, the National Public Radio (NPR), a non profit
membership media organization, aired an interview discussing Syria s bloody civil war. With more
than four million people who have fled the country thus far, it has easily been named one of the worst
refugee situations in history. Millions more have also been displaced within Syria. Although we rarely
hear from the people inside, NPR was able to air an interview it conducted with one of the citizens
who lives in the broken country. Saeed al Batal, a photographer and filmmaker who did not use his
real name for security reasons, reveals how horrific the experiences currently are in Syria. In this
paper, the transcript of the interview will be used portray how, even when situations are clearly
appalling and catastrophic, the presence of others effects people s contributions and willingness to
help. It will also be used to psychologically understand why people help, why people do not, when

Examples Of Evil In The Crucible
The Smoldering Evil of the Crucible Arthur Miller s The Crucible is based on the 19 people massacred
in the Salem Witch Trials for believing in witchcraft; they, like some modern day people, are
persecuted and sometimes executed for their beliefs. Does the novel plagued with adultery, thief, and
execution depict the characters as evil? What defines evil? Evil is what is morally wrong, sinful, or
wicked. Danforth, Williams, and Parris are evil characters. Danforth is morally wrong for executing
John Proctor after being told Abigail is lying. Second, Abigail Williams is wicked for condemning the
19 to their deaths to save her own reputation. Lastly, though Danforth, Williams, and Parris are
morally wrong and wicked, Rev. Parris is the evilest because beating Tituba is morally wrong, needing
gold is the sin of greed, and withholding Abigail s offenses keeps his reputation in a wicked way. ...

whipping and beating Tituba would be wrong because Matthew 7:12 says, Do to others what you

The Application of Algebraic Topology ot Data Analysis
The application of algebraic topology to data analysis is relatively new but promising. When
confronted with large volumes of high dimensional data we would like to identify significant
phenomena, and the persistence of topological features provides a new and potentially useful measure
of significance. A key promise of this method is the ability to identify features without a model truly
unsupervised learning.
Unlike traditional statistical methods of data analysis which are primarily concerned parameter
estimation, topological data analysis regards the data as a sample from a manifold embedded in
euclidean space and attempts to recover topological features such as connectedness or the number of
holes. An advantage of considering topology is that it is stable under deformations, and can therefore
be said to be insensitive to errors introduced in the sampling [].
To see the utility of the topological approach, and in particular the utility of homology to
multidimensional data analysis, consider the following example, first describe by Scott (1992). Take
random samples in R3 from two different populations. Suppose that these sample points form data
clouds, similar to the shape of 2 dimensional spheres of with two different radii, with the smaller one
being from one population and the larger one from the other population. Moreover, the smaller sphere
sits inside the larger sphere.. Most multivariate and dimensionality reduction methods would not be
able to detect the

Hollywood Production Code Essay
The film history of Hollywood is an extremely intriguing and intense. The film industry flourished in
the 1890s, when motion picture cameras were invented and film production companies started to be
established. It is fascinating how short films displayed in nickelodeons soon developed into feature
films shown in luxurious movie palaces across the country. Technology was improving at a fast rate
and later on new film techniques such as artificial lighting, fire effects and enhanced movie sets were
introduced. Films, and Hollywood
itself, were distinctly and permanently changed by the technology and innovation
presented amid this time. For example, one of the developments that changed Hollywood forever is
sound. Silent films vanished as soon as films with sound, better known as talkies were created.
Furthermore, around this same time period, individuals possessed immense moral shifts powered by
religious groups during the Great Depression, which resulted in decisions that created a new
revolution that dealt particularly with the regulation of content of films. Consequently, in 1934, at the
same time that the Golden Age of Hollywood began, the Hollywood Production code was formally
implemented. Relatively few individuals are knowledgeable about the process and story encompassing
the code. However, the analysis of the Pre Code film Baby face can be a valuable tool on the
comprehension of the Production Code s direct impact on Hollywood and the reverberations that can

Summary Of Everyday Life By Goffman
Throughout The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life, Goffman makes an analogy between self and
society, and actors and theater. In the concluding chapter, Goffman begins with a discussion on his
theory of self and then proceeds to question his analogy of theater and actors. In choosing to step
back, Goffman acknowledges that the book and analogy are part of his opinion, and that others may
disagree. While Goffman presents hesitation regarding the use of this analogy, for many readers the
analogy allows them to better comprehend the structure of social encounters. Goffman uses actors and
the theater to understand something about individuals and the way they interact in everyday life. In his
conclusion, Goffman provides a theory of the self. According to Goffman, the self is composed of two
parts the performer and the character. The theory being that the self is a performed character. The
character being the real self, which is developed because of one s actions. All the actions we make as
individuals have risks, and these risks are part of our everyday performances. ... Show more content

In his last two pages, Goffman makes an argument stating that his use of the theater and actors was in
part a rhetoric and a maneuver (Goffman 254). Having read all of Goffman, I believe that his use of
the theater is a successful analogy. An analogy is a literary technique used to compare things so that a
relationship can be seen between them. The comparison works to get the reader to think about what
both things have in common. For much of the book, Goffman describes in detail the similarities
between an individual s performance during social interactions and an actor s performance on stage.
Goffman admits that there are differences between real life and the stage. However, the techniques
used by actors in a theater are the same as the techniques individuals apply in their everyday

that the main motivation for Westley to go through climbing to the pick of the mountain, fighting
Inigo and Fezzik the giant is to save his true love.Even though there was many struggle they had to go
through and many interference that comes to their love to separate them, they seems to work there

Insanity And The Insanity Defense
The purpose of this essay is to explain why the insanity plea, or the insanity defense as it is also
known, is not a legitimate defense for any type of crime. The insanity defense has been around for a
number of years but does it make a mockery of the legal system? While many people have used the
insanity defense, it loses more times than it wins. This defense is used when someone believes they
did not know right from wrong while committing the crime. The problem with this is that it is hard to
know someone s mental state when there is not much evidence to go on. Someone can become
mentally ill after a crime or someone may have been mentally ill before a crime. Neither one of these
issues always weigh on the actual crime. A large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it is important to note that there are certain behaviors that are found to be common when
someone is depressed, depression does not facilitate itself the same way in all people. The National
Institute of Mental Health (n.d.) tells us, People with depressive illnesses do not all experience the
same symptoms. The severity, frequency, and duration of symptoms vary depending on the individual
and his or her particular illness. Understanding that there are so many different interpretations of the
word insanity, it could be argued that knowing the difference between right and wrong is not always
clear. The following syllogistic formula can be considered when thinking about this topic:
Major Premise: All people who plead insanity are admitting to a mental disease or defect.
Minor Premise: If a person has a mental disease or defect, it does not mean that he/she cannot tell
right from wrong.
Conclusion: If a person uses an insanity defense, it does not mean that he/she did not know right from
wrong while committing the crime.

Essay on Reflection on a Critical Incident
The reason for this essay is to reflect on a critical incident experience during my six week placement
as a student nurse on an orthopedic ward. To explore an event as a critical incident is a value
judgment, and the basis of that judgment is the significance attached to the meaning of the incident.
Critical incidents are created or produced by the way we look at a situation. Tripp (1993)
The incident chosen has made an impact on me due to the fact the side effects of surgery can be very
critical to a patient s life, as would be demonstrated in the critical incident chosen (D.V.T). Deep vein

One may also reflect on practice while one is on the midst of it. This process involves both reflections
in action and reflection in practice (Johns 2000). Schon states that reflection in action consists of on
the spot surfacing, criticizing, restructuring and testing of intuitive understanding of experience
phenomenon (Schon 1983) P.241.
Reflective learning involves assessment and re assessment of assumptions and critical reflective
occurs whenever underlying premises are being questioned .(Williams 2001) P.29.
In choosing Gibbs reflective model it would be illustrated in the six headings which guide me through
my reflective process. These headings include:
(1.) Description what happened?
(2.) Feelings what were you feeling?
(3.) Evaluation what was good or bad about the experience?
(4.) Analysis what sense can be made of the situation?
(5.) Conclusion what else could you have done?
(6.) Action plan if the situation arises again what would you do?
Description:
This critical incident took place during my first six week placement on the ward (Eleanor east). My
rationale for this critical incident is because of the impact it had on me. I did not know that the side
effects of hip replacement surgery could result in DVT (deep vein thrombosis), which could be very
critical physically and mentally.

The Medical Benefits Of Medical Marijuana
As of April 2017, 29 states in the United States have legalized medical marijuana. That now makes
58% of the 50 states that have recognized the medical benefits that marijuana can provide. Marijuana
should be legalized in all states for health purposes because it can reduce seizure activity for those
with epilepsy, provide better long term relief to people that have chronic pain (stemming from a
variety of health issues) versus the use of opioids, and has been effective in not only treating the
symptoms and side effects of cancer, but in killing cancer cells in preclinical trials as well.
Marijuana, in a medical form, can reduce seizure activity in people with epilepsy, especially when all
other forms of treatment have been exhausted. One such case was with a girl by the name of Charlotte
Figi, who first started having seizures at 3 months old, and by the time she was 5 was having 300
seizures each week. When the hospital told the parents there was nothing more they could do for
Charlotte, they turned to medical marijuana. After working with doctors to find the correct dosage of
cannabis oil that was needed, Charlotte, at the age of 6, was only having two to three seizures per
month (Young, Marijuana Stops Child s Seizures, CNN.com). Additionally, while the personal stories
of those who have seen a reduction in the number of seizures that occur from the use of medical
marijuana are more prevalent than that of published studies by doctors, these studies do exist and

The speed of light in water is slower than the speed of light in air, so when light goes from a slow

Since the light is coming from inside the water, a slow medium, into air, a fast medium, it turns away

For example, 27 corporate clients from Beijing and Shanghai participated in China Corporate Fam.
They were invited to come to Hong Kong and experience the most recent MICE products and team
building activities (HKTB, 2013b). Under Individual Visit Scheme, it is generally believed that
participants come to Hong Kong in a more convenient way. Therefore, more mainlanders are willing
to come to Hong Kong and there are more opportunities for them and Hong Kong people to
communicate and work with each other.
However, it is suggested that Individual Visit Scheme triggers inflation in Hong Kong. There are some
products that popular among the mainland travellers, such as Vita Lemon Tea and baby milk have
noticeable increase in price level. Using a pack of six boxes of Vita Lemon Tea as an example,
Consumer Council (as cited in Apple daily, 2012) discovers that the price of it rose 10%, from $13.5
to $14.9 between March 2013 and late September 2013. This illustrates that the spending of mainland
tourists on daily products lead to higher price level in Hong Kong.
Apart from inflation, Individual Visit Scheme causes loss of local small and medium enterprises in
Hong Kong. CBRE Hong Kong (2012) notes that Hong Kong ranked world s top destination for

The Development And Analysis Of Microsatellite Dna Essay

THE DEVELOPMENT AND ANALYSIS OF MICROSATELLITE DNA
Summary
Due to the significant negative impact of the industrial activities on the habitat, many species have
become endangered. To conserve the species, a thorough investigation is needed. In this case, the
research is based on the study the interdependencies between the genotype and spatial dispersal of
populations.
Despite being endangered, turtles comprise rather specific object for such investigations, as well as
any other long lived organisms, because their reproduction cycles complicate the genetic
investigations using conventional methods. That is why the novel DNA markers, microsatellites, were
chosen for this research.
Although the microsatellites are very informative and universal, the overall cost for research is higher
than for RAPD and AFLP. This is mostly due to the cost of the fluorescent dye which is used in the
PCR. To eliminate this, I will apply an interesting technique which allows for incorporation of the dye
by the forward primer into the product of polymerization thus saving a considerable amount of the
dye.
Generally, I plan to base research on such steps:
Studying the populations of Apalone spinifera and Apalone mutica based on available data;
Taking samples of blood from the animals which are going to be caught by hand in their usual habitat.
The sampling will occur in the least possible harmful way;
Testing 12 pairs of primers initially developed for Apalone spinifera using the

Creation or Evolution of the Earth
Was it creation or evolution? That is the question that is more popular today than ever. There are many
different theories to the creation of the earth and the development of man. The big question is which
one was actually true. Scientists will tell you evolution is how man was created. Creationists or
Christians will tell you that creation was how man was created. Which group of people is right? There
is a bill in Texas State Congress over a new proposed set of guidelines for teaching biology in the
public school system. For the last twenty years state regulations have said whenever the theory of
evolution is. Sanded it is weakness should also be presented. However a new group of professors,
calling themselves The Twenty First Century Science Coalition, this group is calling for a change in
Texas state guidelines and all across America that would profit the mention of any weakness from
being discussed in the public classroom. The also further said any mention of weakness of Darwin s
theory of evolution would harm college students readiness and their ability to compete for jobs. I find
this a bit curious. Here are these people saying we can t even talk about the weakness of evolution.
Somehow this will keep kids from getting jobs and getting into college. It is not the whole purpose of
education to ask questions? Why is the adherence of evolution so adamant in saying we are not even
going to allow any of the weakness of our theory to be discussed? I think the reason is

Genghis Khan Number One Conqueror Essay
Have you ever wondered who the number one conqueror in history is? I know as a fact that a lot of
people don t even ask that question but, this essay will discuss how I believe Genghis Khan is the
number one conqueror in history. As my reasoning, I support the idea that Genghis Khan is the
number one conqueror in history because, compared to other leaders and empires; Genghis Khans
army or the Mongol Empire has conquered exceedingly more, not only did he subjugate more land he
on average took less time to occupy the land than others, and he and his empire has maintained their
land over a longer period than others.
First and foremost, Genghis Khan has vanquished approximately 12.5 million square Km, which is,
inferiorly further than what other conquerors have overcome. In comparison, Alexander the Great has
seized 5.6 million square Km, while as said earlier, Genghis Khan invaded double than what

While Khan is still at the very top, Alexander has the rein of 15 years and the Mauryan Dynasty or 130
years. Compared to Alexanders rein, Khan is still overall number one. For disciplinary acts, Khan
would use scare tactics to suppress any incoming revolts against him and his empire. As another
reason to how they lasted for 200 years is that, Genghis gave birth to many offspring in which he
taught them his great tactics of war causing the next heir to be knowledgeable and can control the
massive Empire. Sadly though, after those 200 years China took back their Empire causing the start of
the fall of the Mongol Empire.
As a conclusion, this essay is to bring proof that Genghis Khan is the number one conqueror in
history. With prominent facts, such as, the largest rein of land, least time consumption of conquering,
and the longest lasting Empire. I hope you can also conclude that Genghis Khan is the number one
conqueror in

Araby Historical Context
Milestone Project I Part II: Sources and Historical Context When it comes to the theories of Feminist
Criticism and Psychoanalytical Criticism an interesting aspect can be found, that at times they often
dispute or ignore one another, though they often coincide. Another aspect that follows along with this
is that the often intertwine with each other. Having both these topics to analyze the work Araby by
James Joyce coincide as well with the story s on analyzed historical context, and how the narrator s
actions. Feminism Criticism was stated to be used to find women s writing involvement in history,
recovering this writing, displacement of these writings, and whether women s tradition is being
established in the text (Wolosky 1). These conquests have not completely changed but have influenced
analysis and subject discussion over the decades that it has been present, not only influencing ... Show

James Joyce wrote each story as a perspective view into an Irish culture. One of the main settings of
the story is the Bazaar that is taking place, and though most writers and analyses of this work would
assume that this is not a real event this happens to be based off true event, The Araby Bazaar. This
cultural aspect was known moment in the time of the works setting, which as part of the analysis and
expands on the confirmed time period of the story. Expanding on the analytical research behind its
religious outlook would bring information from a perspective view, as the story is inherently Christian
based (Lovejoy 584). Interpreting and analyzing these topics with in the work and tied to the aspect to
the young boy as a narrator brings forth cultural evidence to pursue the boys understanding both
psychoanalytically and on a feminist level in criticism. They provide both a religious and cultural

  • 2. Reflection On Reading And Writing Title Reading and writing has always been one my strengths throughout high school. With every english course I ve taken, there have been multiple writing assignments that are assigned with instructions different from the last. For example, coming from a regular english class with a standard curriculum to a college class that has very high expectations, was an extreme wake up call for me but I was ready for the challenge. Growing up with writing skills that seem reasonably natural, I have always been able to write an essay a day or two before the deadline. When I realized that taking composition meant longer papers and higher standards, I was forced to work more diligently on my papers and learn how to critique every error or attribute. The more essays I wrote during this course, the more it allowed me to obtain a better understanding of how important it is to plan or re read my work in order to receive the grade I wanted. This semester, I overall altered my procrastination habits, improved upon my proofreading and editing skills which lead to knowing how to properly writing a five paragraph essay. Regarding all the knowledge I ve learned about writing a superior paper, I also improved my habits when it comes to procrastination and deadlines. When taking a college level class, I was overwhelmed by the amount of work that is needed to get an acceptable grade but I was determined to push through. In the past, I would very rarely start my essay when assaigend, I would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Justice Is A Key Element Of Justice My idea of justice has evolved in nuanced ways in which I did not predict at the onset of this course. I have held consistent the idea of creating a more equal world as a key element of justice. However, I have added important nuances in the way in which I think about and discuss this issue. I discussed equality in my initial definition of justice. This sense of equality has developed to include non human animals and even matter into this conversation. Through Bennett I have embraced the idea of flattening out the current human on top hierarchy by elevating non human animals and matter to a similar plane as humans. In my definition of justice currently, I include not only obvious human issues but also issues of matter and animals. This being said, it is integral to clarify that the major crises that are present in our world cannot be categorized as solei human , animal or matter issues. What effects one, effects all. No individual node can be separated from the assemblage that not only influences, but comprises it. While I still support my assertion that justice can be found through the respecting and valuing of all things, my understanding of the nature of this respect has deepened. It is difficult to gain deep respect for things that you do not have intimate knowledge of. At the onset of the course, I knew I should respect matter, however, if it had not been for this course I would not have understood why I should have a deep respect for the lives of the ... • 4. The Role Of Models For A Person s Life According to Google, a role model is a person looked to by others as an example to be imitated. Rosa Parks once said, Each person must live their life as a model for others. I think this expresses just how important role models are in a person s life. Role models can come from all aspects of life but they start in your home with your family. Your family can set an example by showing how to live everyday life as a good person if they are the proper role model. Actors, musicians, and other widely known people can be exceptional role models. Their influence is shown through their movies, music, or how they are viewed. Most people have athletes they can look to as role models. Athletes can teach many life lessons including, how they play sports or their attitude toward the sport. [Thesis] Role models can come from multiple aspects of life and can have countless effects on you as a person. Whether it is a good influence or a bad one, it is unarguable that one of the first groups of people to have a lasting effect in your life is your family. To be more specific almost every child s first role models are their parents. The majority of young boys want to be big and strong, just like their father, and most young girls aspire to be just like their beautiful mother. To quote W.E.B Dubois, Children learn more from what you are than what you teach . One of the basic traits of being a good role model is to lead by example. All around the world human rights violation occur on a daily basis and many people aren t aware of the struggles other people in other countries go through or people disregard these violations. In the Central African Republic, women and girls are used as sexual slaves, are being raped and beaten as a weapon of war between the Seleka and anti balaka. Another instance of, human rights violation is that in Egypt many people are being imprisoned for supporting and or being part of the Lgbt campaign. In these two countries, human rights are being neglected and people aren t treated and disregarded as humans. In the Central African Republic, women and girls between the ages of 10 and 75 are being raped, kidnapped, and used as sexual slaves as a tactic of war by the Muslim Seleka and the Christian and animist militia called anti balaka from early 2013 to mid 2017. According to the article They said we are their Slaves by Smita Sharma it discusses that in some cases of sexual slavery the Seleka or anti Balaka committed sexual violence and exerted ownership over victims, women or girls who experienced multiple rapes over a period of weeks. 17 women and 4 girls say that they experienced violence by an armed group that included capturing women, beating them and other physical abuse. Economics Of Less Developed Countries Patrick Hughes Prof. Lazonick Economics of Less Developed Countries December 12, 2015 Final Research Paper When you go to use your Keurig machine in the morning, chances are that you have some pods filled with grounds that were grown in Colombia. Their highly coveted coffee bean is sought after by coffee enthusiasts and in turn the work force is willingly to harvest and process the bean. Next to Brazil and Vietnam, Colombia is the third highest producer of coffee in the world. Since this commodity is popular, Colombia takes advantage of the global commodity and its demand for what they have to sell. We also are going to take on the county of Vietnam Both and Brazil are the top profomers in. As of 2014, Columbia is the third highest producer of coffee only matched by Vietnam and Brazil at #1. Columbia is on their way to being a fully developed country despite the social ills of their society mainly being drug trade. Being in South America the climate is ideal for the cultivation of crops as exports This climate, however is starting to have negative effects on the cultivation of the crop as temperatures have risen and precipitation is threatening the delicate soil needed to harvest the bean. Some other commodities produced in Columbia are petroleum, coal, emeralds, coffee, nickel, cut flowers, bananas, and apparel. I hope to tie my entire research back into the concept of fair trade. • 7. Sweatshops Case Study Savior from Sweatshops A large majority of Americans do not realize where the clothes they purchase are produced. Unethically made goods are predominantly less expensive than goods made outside of sweatshops. With the increase in investigations, it is apparent major brands such as Nike, Disney, Reebok, the Gap and others are involved in the use of sweatshops. Sweatshops are commonly known for having poor working conditions, unfair wages, unreasonable hours, child labor, and a lack of benefits for workers. In foreign countries, sweatshops have around 168 million children ages 5 to 14 forced into child labor ( 11 Facts ). Labor conditions are violated, and are often ignored by the US Department of Labor. Sweatshops are still ongoing due to the ignorance or lack of care for the people involved in a sweatshop corporation. With the awareness of where the majority of inexpensive clothing is manufactured, the public and major American companies should reconsider supporting sweatshops. It is unethical for the American consumer to purchase clothing from companies who use sweatshops as means to mass produce clothing lines. This is due to the fact that people have to willingly work in unbearable work conditions, in order to obtain a job which is essential to survival. Workers are given no leverage for negotiations, and they are forced to accept the sweatshop lifestyle or suffer through degrading poverty. There was a concern about declining moral and ethical values, which led to restrictions such as prohibition for example. The concern about these issues seemed most intense when they pertained to religion. In situations like these it always seems necessary to place the blame somewhere. One particular group on which this blame was emphasized happened to be the immigrants. Irish Catholic immigrants were a main focus of discrimination in many ways. The fear that surrounded this time period was a perfect way to spread the propaganda of the Klan. It was believed that this group of immigrants held their primary allegiance to a foreign sovereign over loyalty to the United States. This anti Catholicism was a driving force behind the popularity of the KKK. To show the mentality of the time, there was no tax on Klan fees because they were considered to be a benevolent society by the government. The fact that the KKK adamantly discriminated against the Irish Catholics may seem surprising because the majority of today s population would assume that the Klan s members encompassed any person who appeared to be Caucasian. This group of immigrants was also discriminated in the workplace. Employers made the wages for this group lower than wages of other employees. The intention for this ill treatment was that the immigrants would warn their Irish relatives of the bad conditions here in the U.S. discouraging them from immigrating as well as to encourage the Irish Catholic immigrant employees who resided in the U.S. to leave. This direct discrimination against the Irish Catholic immigrants was hypocritical in the democratic and liberal society of America. They clarify soups and coffee. Eggs retard crystallization. They also enable coating. In general, eggs add color and flavor. COAGULATION When eggs are heated, the protein in the white and yolks starts to coagulate. This means that the liquid egg becomes firmer. As heating continues the egg eventually becomes solid. A sauce or custard can be thickened by egg and heating, critical to many recipes. When eggs are heated, their proteins unwind (called denaturing) and break apart from their tightly bound bundles, bump up against one another, and adhere to form loose, flat and long strands. These strands are linked together in a three dimensional mesh. Example: With egg whites because they turn from clear to opaque, forming a solid gel. Liquid gets trapped in these strands, and this causes the mixture to thicken. BINDERS Whole raw egg adds moisture to a mixture and holds the ingredients together. As the food is heated, egg protein coagulates, thus binding ingredients together. This is a very useful property for binding in

Throughout their lives, these individuals interact with various public health and social services, yet their experiences demonstrate the numerous gaps in services provided and moreover how critical access is. Despite some successful points of entry, Coco s story highlights the significant adversity she and her children face on a regular basis. This paper examines the needs of Coco and her children, their attempts at accessing different services, and the obvious gaps present in health and social service sectors. The WHO defines health as a state of physical, mental, and social well being. Coco s children, particularly Mercedes and Pearl, experience various health problems; they receive adequate support for some but not all. Pearl, born three months premature, could have fit into the palm of one hand (p. 210). Released after six months, Pearl required significant medical interventions for her to stay alive and healthy. She required multiple asthma treatments a day, and took a many medications for her health issues. Additionally, she required constant attention and support from her family members; this included visits to the doctor, medicine and treatments, and observation for oncoming seizures. There are many ways that the periodic table of elements was set out. For example the table can be organized using patterns between atomic numbers, electronegativity, ionization energy, structure (gas or solid) valence electrons and electron configuration (shells) as seen in the modern day periodic table. Before history was recorded humans had knowledge of certain elements including gold (Au), copper (Cu), silver (Ag), mercury (Hg), tin (Sn) and lead (Pb). Nevertheless, it wasn t until the year of 1669 that Hennig Brand discovered the very first element Phosphorous (P) through scientific inquiry. Hennig Brand discovered phosphorous through extracting it from urine. Due to the element having the ability to grow in the dark it was referred to as light bearer . In 1980 English chemist Robert Boyle discovered phosphorous independently, following Hennig Brand keeping the process of his discovery secret. Additionally, Johann Dobereiner began grouping elements with like properties into triads groups of 3 elements between 1817 and 1829. Question One Research at least two tourism or travel texts and identify five key components of customer service to the New Zealand tourism or travel industry. There are many ways for one to show good customer service and as said by Collier (2011), good customer service is essential. Collier mentions that meeting and exceeding customer expectations is the way to good customer service. To give good customer service, key methods would be being consistent and continuous with work ethic and attitude, and constantly doing this. Being thoughtful too not only customers, but other colleges are a key component as well as availability to customers. This is important as customers need to feel as if you are willing and able to provide your service. Punctuality and grooming are also mentioned as critical elements as it is how you present yourself to customers. Colliers skills and qualities mentioned replicate the five key components of customer service said by the SERVQUAL service measuring system (Parasuraman, Zeithaml Berry 1988). The first component is tangible, meaning the staff should have a tidy appearance, and all facilities should be clean and presented well. Reliability is also a key component, customers should be able to trust the staff members to do the correct job without fail. Responsiveness is also important, meaning the staff member being prepared and eager to help the customer s and do it knowing that the customer is their number one priority. Staff members need to ... At times, a direct contact is not required to fully influence a person. The imagined or implied presence of others is sufficient to carry out a full effect on another person. Examples to portray how the impact of others can have an authority over the way we function socially can be found almost anywhere around us. The media is filled with many examples from recent headlines that may offer an illustration of this phenomenon. In recent news, the National Public Radio (NPR), a non profit membership media organization, aired an interview discussing Syria s bloody civil war. • 25. The Application of Algebraic Topology ot Data Analysis The application of algebraic topology to data analysis is relatively new but promising. When confronted with large volumes of high dimensional data we would like to identify significant phenomena, and the persistence of topological features provides a new and potentially useful measure of significance. A key promise of this method is the ability to identify features without a model truly unsupervised learning. Unlike traditional statistical methods of data analysis which are primarily concerned parameter estimation, topological data analysis regards the data as a sample from a manifold embedded in euclidean space and attempts to recover topological features such as connectedness or the number of holes. An advantage of considering topology is that it is stable under deformations, and can therefore be said to be insensitive to errors introduced in the sampling []. To see the utility of the topological approach, and in particular the utility of homology to multidimensional data analysis, consider the following example, first describe by Scott (1992). Take random samples in R3 from two different populations. Suppose that these sample points form data clouds, similar to the shape of 2 dimensional spheres of with two different radii, with the smaller one being from one population and the larger one from the other population. • 26. Hollywood Production Code Essay The film history of Hollywood is an extremely intriguing and intense. The film industry flourished in the 1890s, when motion picture cameras were invented and film production companies started to be established. It is fascinating how short films displayed in nickelodeons soon developed into feature films shown in luxurious movie palaces across the country. Technology was improving at a fast rate and later on new film techniques such as artificial lighting, fire effects and enhanced movie sets were introduced. Films, and Hollywood itself, were distinctly and permanently changed by the technology and innovation presented amid this time. For example, one of the developments that changed Hollywood forever is sound. Silent films vanished as soon as films with sound, better known as talkies were created. Furthermore, around this same time period, individuals possessed immense moral shifts powered by religious groups during the Great Depression, which resulted in decisions that created a new revolution that dealt particularly with the regulation of content of films. Consequently, in 1934, at the same time that the Golden Age of Hollywood began, the Hollywood Production code was formally implemented. Relatively few individuals are knowledgeable about the process and story encompassing the code. However, the analysis of the Pre Code film Baby face can be a valuable tool on the comprehension of the Production Code s direct impact on Hollywood and the reverberations that can ... In the concluding chapter, Goffman begins with a discussion on his theory of self and then proceeds to question his analogy of theater and actors. In choosing to step back, Goffman acknowledges that the book and analogy are part of his opinion, and that others may disagree. While Goffman presents hesitation regarding the use of this analogy, for many readers the analogy allows them to better comprehend the structure of social encounters. Goffman uses actors and the theater to understand something about individuals and the way they interact in everyday life. In his conclusion, Goffman provides a theory of the self. According to Goffman, the self is composed of two parts the performer and the character. The theory being that the self is a performed character. The character being the real self, which is developed because of one s actions. All the actions we make as individuals have risks, and these risks are part of our everyday performances. ... This scheme helps boost tourism and brings benefits to Hong Kong economy and society. However, the reality reveals that it also brings some negative impacts to Hong Kong. This paper examines both the arguments for and against Individual Visit Scheme in Hong Kong. Promoting retail and accommodation development is one of the major positive outcomes of Individual Visit Scheme. They were invited to come to Hong Kong and experience the most recent MICE products and team building activities (HKTB, 2013b). Under Individual Visit Scheme, it is generally believed that participants come to Hong Kong in a more convenient way. Therefore, more mainlanders are willing to come to Hong Kong and there are more opportunities for them and Hong Kong people to communicate and work with each other. However, it is suggested that Individual Visit Scheme triggers inflation in Hong Kong. There are some products that popular among the mainland travellers, such as Vita Lemon Tea and baby milk have noticeable increase in price level. Using a pack of six boxes of Vita Lemon Tea as an example, Consumer Council (as cited in Apple daily, 2012) discovers that the price of it rose 10%, from $13.5 to $14.9 between March 2013 and late September 2013. This illustrates that the spending of mainland tourists on daily products lead to higher price level in Hong Kong. Apart from inflation, Individual Visit Scheme causes loss of local small and medium enterprises in Hong Kong. CBRE Hong Kong (2012) notes that Hong Kong ranked world s top destination for luxury brands due to a large number of mainland tourists who demand for the benefit from the price variance ... • 36. The Development And Analysis Of Microsatellite Dna Essay 10 THE DEVELOPMENT AND ANALYSIS OF MICROSATELLITE DNA Summary Due to the significant negative impact of the industrial activities on the habitat, many species have become endangered. To conserve the species, a thorough investigation is needed. In this case, the research is based on the study the interdependencies between the genotype and spatial dispersal of populations. Despite being endangered, turtles comprise rather specific object for such investigations, as well as any other long lived organisms, because their reproduction cycles complicate the genetic investigations using conventional methods. That is why the novel DNA markers, microsatellites, were chosen for this research. Although the microsatellites are very informative and universal, the overall cost for research is higher than for RAPD and AFLP. This is mostly due to the cost of the fluorescent dye which is used in the PCR. To eliminate this, I will apply an interesting technique which allows for incorporation of the dye by the forward primer into the product of polymerization thus saving a considerable amount of the dye. Generally, I plan to base research on such steps: Studying the populations of Apalone spinifera and Apalone mutica based on available data; Taking samples of blood from the animals which are going to be caught by hand in their usual habitat. The sampling will occur in the least possible harmful way; Testing 12 pairs of primers initially developed for Apalone spinifera using the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Creation or Evolution of the Earth Was it creation or evolution? That is the question that is more popular today than ever. There are many different theories to the creation of the earth and the development of man. The big question is which one was actually true. Scientists will tell you evolution is how man was created. Creationists or Christians will tell you that creation was how man was created. Which group of people is right? There is a bill in Texas State Congress over a new proposed set of guidelines for teaching biology in the public school system. For the last twenty years state regulations have said whenever the theory of evolution is. Sanded it is weakness should also be presented. However a new group of professors, calling themselves The Twenty First Century Science Coalition, this group is calling for a change in Texas state guidelines and all across America that would profit the mention of any weakness from being discussed in the public classroom. The also further said any mention of weakness of Darwin s theory of evolution would harm college students readiness and their ability to compete for jobs. I find this a bit curious. Here are these people saying we can t even talk about the weakness of evolution. Somehow this will keep kids from getting jobs and getting into college. It is not the whole purpose of education to ask questions? Why is the adherence of evolution so adamant in saying we are not even going to allow any of the weakness of our theory to be discussed? I think the reason is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order for Italy to have the balance of power, they allowed large cities to use diplomacy, spies, paid informers, and any other way to get information that could be used to advance some of their ambitions while the states of northern Europe would move toward centralization and consolidation. This would allow one Italian state to appear to gain a strong position within the peninsula and to have other states combine to be able to establish a balance of power which helps use this power against the major threats. During the balance of power, Italians invented the machinery of modern diplomacy which allowed the ambassadors to gain more power. • 44. Genghis Khan Number One Conqueror Essay Have you ever wondered who the number one conqueror in history is? I know as a fact that a lot of people don t even ask that question but, this essay will discuss how I believe Genghis Khan is the number one conqueror in history. As my reasoning, I support the idea that Genghis Khan is the number one conqueror in history because, compared to other leaders and empires; Genghis Khans army or the Mongol Empire has conquered exceedingly more, not only did he subjugate more land he on average took less time to occupy the land than others, and he and his empire has maintained their land over a longer period than others. First and foremost, Genghis Khan has vanquished approximately 12.5 million square Km, which is, inferiorly further than what other conquerors have overcome. In comparison, Alexander the Great has seized 5.6 million square Km, while as said earlier, Genghis Khan invaded double than what Alexander ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As another reason to how they lasted for 200 years is that, Genghis gave birth to many offspring in which he taught them his great tactics of war causing the next heir to be knowledgeable and can control the massive Empire. Sadly though, after those 200 years China took back their Empire causing the start of the fall of the Mongol Empire. As a conclusion, this essay is to bring proof that Genghis Khan is the number one conqueror in history.
