Working Title: Musicast
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose: To entertain the listeners whilst educating them. I will do this by
featuring guests that people want to listen to, this will not only entertain people but it will
educate them as well because they may learn something new by listening to the guest
speak. I will also play snippets of music from some of my favourite bands. I fell like this and
me as a host trying to be as entertaining as possible will help me achieve this goal.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
Genre: Music/ Comedy/ Entertainment
What sort of product is it
Content: The podcast specifically is about music. In it there will be album reviews/
previews, song reviews/ previews, artist interviews, music related news and many other
topics that can be related to this genre. The show will be hosted by and I will give my
opinions on all of these topics and shouldn’t be taken too seriously. The show will be laid
back and give off a relaxed feel designed to make the listeners feel comfterbal and making
them want to come back for more.
The format of the show is as follows; 1 minuet for a brief introduction and if any significant
music related news stories have happened I will mention it here and give my thoughts. This
will include music clips and sound effects. Then I will have 2 minutes for the main feature.
This is mainly what the audience is listening for. The main feature could be anything from
an interview to an album or son preview/ review or maybe a tribute to someone in the music
industry. This is the main part of the podcast so depending on what I’m doing it will include
sound clips, music clips and/ or voice overs. After the main feature I will have 1 minuet to
move onto music related news. This segment will feature less significant news from the
music world. I will give the information and then comment on the topic. This segment will
also include shout outs to local music stores that I think are worth checking out. Depending
on the specific subjects talking about the segment may feature music clips and sound
effects. Then lastly the outro. This is where I will thank any guests I may have had on, then
do a quick rundown of the episode reminding people of my social media. I will have music
playing at the end and possibly some sound effects.
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here
Audience: My main audience is malesaround 13 to 30. I am targeting mainly to a more
middle class audience I am also aiming at Belongers, Balanced, Achiever,
• Type A and Needs Driven. I am targeting this specific psychographic because
Belongers: Belongers are brand loyal, which means they will keep coming back if
they know they like the product. So feel like I can translate this into a music podcast
by keeping them entertained and interested in what I'm saying. They are also
community orientated. My music podcast will appeal to this trait by encouraging
audience feedback on our social network accounts. They also like a product that is
produced in the UK. This is no problem as I don’t plan on traveling to a different
country to create the podcast.
• Balanced: This group of people are socially conscious but also want power and
wealth, asthey also mix with the Achievers. I feel like my podcast will appeal to this
group of people by reviewing and featuring music that has a similar message, they
will be able to relate to that message witch will keep them entertained. The socially
conscious part of them will be catered to by encouraging people to support artist’s
charity work. I will also be featuring a news segment in the podcast where I will run
down the latest music/ musician related news. I feel like the balanced group of
people will respond to this because they want they best for humanity whilst

benefiting them self's.
• Type A: This group is concerned about how their actions will affect the world they
are living in. They will also respond to messages about making a difference to
society or the environment. My music podcast will appeal to this type of person
because I will play and feature music that conveys a similar message. This and the
news segment I previously mentioned will appeal to this group of people.
• Needs Driven: This group does not plan and will respond to messages relating to
missing opportunities and impulse buying. I feel like since I will be playing a varied
type of music, I will appeal to this type of person. This person may not be a loyal
regular listener, I should defiantly keep these people in mind as there is no reason
that they may not decide to listen.
I am targeting audiences ages 13 to 30 because Current music will be featured most likely
appeal to a younger audience. A mix of childish and adult humour will appeal to both
audiences and Older songs will be featured to most likely appeal to a more middle aged
audience.
I have decided to mainly target a male audience because I feel like since I am a male myself,
I can only give the perspective of a male. Therefore mostly the podcast will be targeted
towards a male audience. However I think it’s important to keep a female audience in mind
as they listen to music too and may relate to podcast in general.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc.
Why would your project appeal to this person?
Legal & Ethical Considerations: I think some people may be offended by the type of music I
will be playing. Things such as the bad language may offend some people, especially the
younger audience that may be listening. Younger people aren’t restricted from listening
because it’s a music podcast and music is subjective therefore I don’t feel like its right to
restrict. That being said if their parents may feel the need to stop them from listening. I
personally feel that even though explicit songs will be featured I think the laid back nature
and lay out of the show will even it out a bit. Nothing is really supposed to be taken too
seriously, so I don’t think there will be a big issue.
I don’t feel like any social groups will be offended by any content featured on my podcast.
The only thing I can of where people may be offended would be the news segment. I will
cover recent news and give my honest opinion on the matter. I don’t consider myself to be
a controversial person but since it is my opinion not everyone will agree. So I feel like if
anyone were to be offended by anything it would come from this segment. To ensure I do
not offend anyone I will be as impartial as possible and will not give my side on any
religious debates, etc.
The podcast is a music podcast so it will feature music clips, song title and album names. I
will ask the artists before had if it’s ok to use such material for review purposes. The big
thing that makes my music podcast different to any other music podcast out there is the
fact that its mine. Everyone has their own opinions and everyone is different so this is just
my take on the music industry in general whilst trying to entertain.
Think about any offensive material you will include?
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement?
