30. Evaluation of Audience Research Questionnaire From taking my questionnaire, I have found out a lot more about what my peers look for, and what they’re interested in when buying a music magazine. I will use this information when creating my own music magazine in order to attract my target audience, include what they like to see in a magazine and follow the foundations of their existing favourite magazines. I found that people’s favourite genre of music was generally Indie and Hip Hop/R’n’B; however, it varied. Within my magazine, I will include interviews from artists who work within these particular genres as it will attract the right target audience for what I am aiming for. I will also include references to artists such as Little Comets, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Strokes, White Lies, Jessie J and Katy B and so on as these are some bands and artists that came up when asked to list favourite bands or soloists.
31. The most popular festivals were both Reading and Glastonbury music festivals, therefore in my magazine, I would include information about these festivals, such as line ups. Also, if I had a big budget for my magazine, I would include competitions to win tickets to or merchandise from these festivals. It would be more appealing to the audience as I also found out that a lot of people like to buy magazines for the competitions, discounts, offers and free merchandise that are often included in a music magazine. Due to the specific festivals that seem to be most popular, it sets the age range for my target audience. I have decided that most people ranged 15-25 will be the target audience for my magazine after carrying out this questionnaire as I have discovered that due to the certain music and events that seem to be popular, I can include many relevant articles and information which will attract people of this age. The overall look for my magazine will be Indie-based but with a light ‘Hip Hop’ feel to it. It will be varied and contemporary which will appeal to many different groups of people. Including original photography and free merchandise will encourage readers to buy the magazine, therefore, this is what I will aim to do.
