This document provides instructions for three editing techniques: HDR photography, using the healing brush tool, and creating layer masks. It explains how to take three photos at different aperture settings to create an HDR image in Photomatix. It also describes how to use the healing brush tool on a new layer to remove unwanted elements by sampling clear areas. Finally, it outlines how to select an area and click the mask tool to hide everything outside the selection on a layer.

1. Introduction
In this Document I will be showing three different editing techniques and the
easiest way to do it. I will be starting with HDR and moving my way to using
Cleaning with the healing brush and then making a layer mask.
HDR
In this document I will show you how to make a HDR photograph with only three
different photographs though more can be used and still use this system.
Requirements
You need a camera which can has a controllable ISO so a digital camera and
phones are out of the question. A tripod is needed or else this wont work as you
need the camera needs to be still for these images. You will need the macs HDR
editor photomatix to edit these photographs once they have all been taken.
Taking the shot
You must have your tripod set up with the camera fixed onto it and it’s also best
to do this on a flat surface just in case your tripod moves between photographs
and messes up your HDR. Now you must have your ISO set to its lowest setting
and make sure your aperture priority is at -2 take two photographs on the
setting (two just in case).

2. Now change your aperture priority to 0 and take another two more pictures and
the image should be a bit brighter than the last this time.
Now for the last picture, which must be taken on aperture +2, you will notice it
will be a lot brighter than all the others.

3. Putting it into Photomatix
First you must load your photos into photomatix by clicking load bracketed
photos and select your three images then select ok and they will load into
photomatix.
It will load your images together and will let you use many different HDR options
and do the rest of the work on its own and all you need to do is select which style
is your favourite and save it.

4. Cleaning the healing brush
The first step is to configure the healing brush for your use. You must create a
new layer by clicking new layer.
Now to use the healing brush you must hold ALT on your key board and select on
the image something thaty can be used to cover up what you want to replace

5. In my picture here I wa nt to get rid of the various leaves in the image on the
footpath. So by equiping the clean tool and selecting a part of the path without
leaves on it I will be able to use it and clean up all the little marks on the path
and various annoyances showing on the path.
Now my picture is free of various annoyances on the foot path and has nothing
annoying on it or in the way an are hidden quite well with little evidence of
anything being hidden there.

6. Making a layer mask
First highlight the layer that you want to mask and for this to work the layer
must be visible. Next you must use the marquee tool (pressing M will
seleect this instantly) Click this mask tool next and everything but what
you’ve selected will be gone
With your image you can do whatever you like add to it take away and if done
right this technique can be used like a green screen for people you want to put
on different backgrounds.,
