Rule of Law in the Constitution
Introduction A free society is a system of interaction between humans wherein every person can
participate in a civilised manner and without discrimination. In Australia, the Commonwealth of
Australia Constitution Act 1900 (Imp) is the primary source by which society operates as an
essentially free society. This paper seeks to establish that the functioning of such a society is
dependent upon the existence of a legal framework supporting the rule of law, which is ultimately, an
ideology. Analogically, the circumstances in which the application of the rule of law has either created
a free society or undermined it will be explored and its purposes thus inferred to construct a definition
of the rule of law reflecting contemporary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In asserting its judicial independence, the High Court in Plaintiff S157/2002 v Commonwealth stated
it was the ultimate decision maker in all matters where there is a contest. Zywicki suggests that as long
as the court follows precedent and thereby gives individuals more certainty of knowledge over the
rights they possess, social coordination and economic wealth will increase. The courts would not be
relying on its discretion, but rules which will apply equally in the future. Thus, refining Dicey s
definition, Zywicki views rule based decision making as a basic concept of the rule of law. Contrarily,
Sykes suggests discretion may be a matter of necessary efficiency which is more valuable than strictly
adhering to the rule of law. The rule of law, then, does not encapsulate the absolute value of society.
Sykes refers to police discretionary power; however, this concept of balancing the rule of law against
other values may be extended to situations wherein exceptions and defences in law apply to certain
groups. Consider the conferral of legal privilege and the requirement of confidentiality on legal
practitioners in criminal law whereas equality before the law operates in favour of the client, the law
of legal privilege applies only to legal practitioners. As Sykes emphasises, it would be unjust if the law
failed to account for social difference and disadvantage... Zywicki would concur and modifies the

Analysis Of Richard Parker s The Last Animal
The last animal, Richard Parker, symbolizes Pi, his animal like instincts when he was stranded at sea,
as he must complete many tasks to survive which in the real world he would find very hard to do.
Richard Parker can symbolize many things, Pi himself and Pi s fears. Richard Parker represents Pi
himself, and his inner strength. In Mexico, when Richard Parker left Pi and is never to be seen again,
it shows that Richard Parker was only what Pi needed for strength and that he never was real. He also
represents Pi s fears, and how he overcomes all of his fears, mainly his major fear; death. The skills Pi
had learned at his father s zoo helped him face his fear of Richard Parker and in order to tame Richard
Parker, he pretends that he is at a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This time he had gave him a new start, and it helped Pi to equally grow and to expand as a person.
This is shown by the fact that Pi had left his vegetarianism, because if he wanted to survive, he had to
kill and eat fish. That is not it though, as he also had to learn how to take care of himself and survive
on his own since his parents were not on the lifeboat with him. Although in the moment this may have
been hard for Pi to do, but in the end it only had a positive outcome on him. After his journey was
over, he was a much more respecting, thankful, stronger more mature person. The cargo ship, the
Tsimtsum, is also symbolic. The family was forced to Canada from India due to government issues.
All the animals from the zoo are put on the ship, the family is excited, and all is well. The ship leaves
and Pi is enjoying the journey so far, as everyone is. At the beginning the ship is smooth sailing, until
the devastating storm comes and the ship sinks. The Tsimtsum sinking is symbolic of Pi s life. When
Pi was stranded out in the ocean all alone, it was taking a great toll on him emotionally, Pi just stops
everything and takes a break, he says; I looked out at the empty horizon. There was so much water.
And I was all alone. All alone. I burst into hot tears. I buried my face in my crossed arms and sobbed.
My situation was patently hopeless (Martel 187). His life was great, he was happy, nothing was
wrong, until the age of

New York City Public Transportation System
Beginning in June of 1952, when the Metropolitan Transportation Authority was founded, advances in
transportation in New York City have improved the city s developing economy and have benefitted
people to a great extent. Located in the heart of Manhattan, the MTA headquarters are home to
hundreds of different vehicles, ridden by thousands daily. The train tracks and bus routes run through
Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and the Bronx, unifying all five boroughs and improving
the lives of everyone Beginning at $0.05 and going up to $2.50, one way bus fare has slowly been
increasing since the MTA was founded. Although the cost depends mainly on how far the vehicle is
traveling, this is the standard expense and the difference is significant. This cost is beneficial to
travellers because it is inexpensive, and convenient for day to day use.
Along with convenience, there are multiple economic benefits to using New York City public
transportation. Pollution can become less of a problem, because travellers aren t taking individual cars
throughout the state. The system is reliable for workers and travellers, making New York City a busy
tourist area. The schedules are clearly posted, along with dozens of different times of the day to make
travelling less of a hassle. There is arguably less stress on the commuter about traffic on the streets and
less worrying about time since the transportation system is reliable. The problem of finding a place to
park on the busy

Tick Investigation Essay
Tick Investigation
Aim
To describe the niche of a tick by;
· Studying it anatomically
· Describing it s lifestyle
· Describing it s life cycle
· Explaining how it has adapted
· And what diseases it carries and spreads

An introduction to ticks

The tick is not an insect but is part of the arachnid family.
Ticks are divided into two main families, soft ticks (Argasidae) and hard ticks (Ixodidae). The
scientific name of the tick that I am studying is Ixodes Canisuga, it has a sclerotizeddorsal plate
(scutum), an oval or pair shaped outline, and their mouthparts are visible from the dorsal view.

There are three stages in the development of ticks;
1. Lava
2. Nymph
3. Adult female
[IMAGE]The life cycle takes 3 to six years to complete, with each stage taking at least one year.
Blood feeding occurs once in each stage.
The diagram to the right shows the life cycle of a tick.
Larvae have six legs, climb the vegetation and wait for a passing host, usually a mouse. There they
feed for 2 3 days and they increase their weight 10 20 times. Thy then drop off into the vegetation and
continue to grow.
After several months, the lava molts to an 8 legged nymph of around 2mm.
A few months later the nymph molts again into the final stage of tick development; the adult. The
adult female can only feed successfully on larger animals such as dogs, deer sheep and cows. When it
feeds it can grow to 150 times its original weight. The immature stages of the tick can paratize almost
any warm blooded animal.
[IMAGE]The picture to the left is of a male and female tick mating.
Whilst mating, the female continues to feed, engorging herself so that she can produce well nourished
eggs. The males feed every so often to stay alive. When the female is ready to lay her eggs, she drops
of the host lays her eggs and dies.

The Legacy Of John Smith
When the name John Smith is mentioned, people of all ages are familiar with it and could tell a lot
about him. Why is this? How is it that a man who lived over 400 years ago still so popular today, more
specifically to our children? The answer to that question is because John Smith can be viewed as one
of America s earliest heroes. His leadership was vital to the survival of the Jamestown colony. Most
people are familiar with his famous quote, he that will not work shall not eat. He carried all the
qualities of an influential leader, and even had a mystical legend with Pocahontas, in which no one
truly knows what happened. His leadership characteristics and qualities possessed hard work, grit, and
determination. He was an individualist that had an American dream. However, during his time, the
colonists did not look at it as an American dream. Without him and his leadership, America may not
be what it is today. In John Smith s writings in From the General History of Virginia, one can make
the interesting observation that Smith constantly refers to himself as he instead of I . He directly
shows the reader his personal sense of pride and self confidence in himself. An example of this from
the text would be when he said, But seeing by trade and courtesy there was nothing to be had, he made
bold to try such conclusions as necessity enforced; though contrary to his commission, he let fly his
muskets, ran his boat on shore, whereat they all fled into the woods. (61)

Creationism Vs Genesis History
For centuries there has been a feud that almost every scientist has been part of; the creation vs
evolution controversy. Ever since 1859, when Darwin wrote On the Origin of Species, the argument
on whether Earth was created by a higher being, or just evolved from atoms, has been one of the most
discussed topics. Of late, the evolutionary standpoint has been discussed more the creationist
standpoint. However, Is Genesis History? is a documentary that brings light to the creationist
standpoint. Is Genesis History, proves there is a higher being out there, known as God, that actually
created the earth in 6 days, and the earth is only 4,000 years old! With the Bible, we can explain many
of the proofs of evolution, on how it actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Was the world created in six days? The answer to that question is yes, a most definite yes. Just take a
look at the Grand Canyon; layers of sediment are proof of how the flood brought different layers of
dirt. As you go farther down the Grand Canyon, you can see the different levels of sedimentary rock.
You can see that the different layers line up with each other, almost as if someone drew a line and said:
OK no more shales, now it is time for phosphates. Is Genesis History? explained, that if the water was
to have carved out the Grand Canyon, there would be more signs of erosion between the different
layers of sedimentary rocks, the farther you went down the Canyon. However, that s not the case; the
top layers of the Grand Canyon are actually more eroded the bottom layer of rocks. The top layers of
the Grand Canyon share the same type of sedimentary rock as most of the top layer of North America.
Sediment was carried by the flood and then that sediment was carved by the water draining into the
ocean. The Grand Canyon, one of the most iconic natural landmarks, is a living proof that the world
was created in six days.
Another interesting proof of the Great Flood, which in turn proves Genesis is telling the truth, are
fossils. There is a layer of rock that is spread all over North America, known as the Nautiloid Bed.
This layer of rock

‘The Metamorphosis’ and ‘A Hunger Artist’
There are many parallels and differences between Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis and A Hunger
Artist . Kafka portrays these differences and similarities very effectively through his utilization of
elements such as transformation, dehumanization, and dedication to work. Through his works, Kafka
communicates with the reader in such a way that almost provokes and challenges one s imagination
and creativity.
Kafka is known for his highly symbolic and oblique style of writing. It is no surprise that several of
his pieces contain the same major themes, just in different settings. The fact that he repeats his styles
only makes the message that he is trying to convey much stronger. In both The Metamorphosis and A
Hunger Artist , the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In A Hunger Artist, the main character s lack of fulfillment causes him despair. He reacts to this
disparity by starving himself, almost as if showing resistance to the outside world. He views himself
as separate from everyone else, thus confining himself in a cage (Bedford 636).
Another evident similarity between the two works is the treatment of the characters. Both Gregor and
the hunger artist are treated inhumanely. This is clear in The Metamorphosis when Greta begins to
think of Gregor as an it (Metamorphosis 51). Although Gregor has transformed physically, he is still
human inside. Everyone around him fails to see that though, and only regard him by what they see,
which is a bug. Likewise, the hunger artist is not treated as a human being either. The hunger artist is
infatuated with being the best faster in Europe. This obsession deprives him from forming any social
or long lasting relationships. His alienation eventually accounts for his demise, along with the fact that
he is constantly misunderstood. The people who come to see him, as well as the people who guard
him, do not understand that he is not fasting for amusement. Fasting beyond the forty day limit is
important to the hunger artist, but no one can comprehend why, which creates a barrier between the
hunger artist and the outside world. Because of this barrier, people treat him as if he is just another
animal in a cage. When he joins

Difference in twins and clones
From the very beginning of evolution, human beings have been developing themselves rapidly in
physical and mental aspects. With every successful evolutionary era, human beings are found to be
somewhat alike to their ancestor. Birth of twins is always a matter of great curiosity in world. Many
are amazed with this fact of twining. The fact that contrasts offspring s being alike to their ancestor is
a genetic carrier called DNA. DNA is a double helical structure that is composed of genetic material
called chromosomes. Chromosomes found in human body cells are equal in number in each cell and
are formed after the cell division and condensation of DNA (charlotte 3). With growing technology
and scientific progress artificial twining called cloning is also made possible. But, Identical twins
made from biological parents are incomparable to the clones made from a genetic host.
Genetic material called Chromosomes carry genetic material from springs to spring with slight
variation. During birth unusual division of chromosome can give birth to twins. Twins can be of two
types identical twins and fraternal twins. Identical twins look alike but fraternal twins do not. Twining
is a biological process. There is another artificial process of making twins that is cloning, which
results same as twining. Usually by definition, clones are living organism that has placed themselves
in a different

Sweatshops In The Sweathing Industry
See
Many large companies, especially in the clothing industry, rely on oversea sweatshops as their primary
source of production. The term sweatshop is used to describe a factory that violates two or more laws
regarding labor. In many developing countries, these workers are subject to terrible working
conditions, low wage, child labour, unreasonable hours and a lack of benefits. Sweatshops are utilised
due to the cheap labor and production by a number of companies like Zara, Kmart, Cotton On and
Target. Despite a number of incidents involving factory fires, collapse and faulty/malfunctioning
equipment killing hundreds at a time, workers continue to face these horrendous conditions and
treatment. This is a social justice issue as wealthy companies take advantage of the desperation and
vulnerability of those living in poverty. This results in unequal wealth, unfair and immoral treatment
of poor people, especially women who make up 85% of the workforce and children, for which there
are over 250 million aged 5 14 in the industry. For many, their hourly wage is less than a dollar, with
many not being payed at.

The encyclical on human work known as Laborem Exercens was released in 1981 by Pope John Paul

work has an ethical value of its own and that each person is a

Duvet Covers Advantages And Disadvantages
The duvet covers are an integral part of the bedding. The covers not just make the bed look beautiful
but it also helps in protecting the duvets. The duvets are used every day so they need to be washed
frequently in order to be kept clean. As an everyday used item the duvets can absorb a lot of dust and
also spills. If the duvet is not cleaned and it keeps on absorbing dust and moisture, then it can become
the home of several germs.
The duvet covers are also known as the comforter covers. There is a wide range of benefits of using
these covers. The covers can provide you comfort, convenience and style. They can be easily changed
as they are cost effective. They can be bought in any color, style and a variety of materials.

The length of the fibers of the Egyptian cotton are really long which means that it is of high quality. It
can be spun into finer and thin fiber. This results in creating soft sheets and lighter duvet covers. The
reason for buying the high quality fiber is the lightness of the fiber.
The lighter covers are less warm as compared to the covers which are heavy and thick. The heavier
and hot covers make you perspire more and all of that moisture is absorbed by the duvet. If there is a
cover over the duvet, the moisture will be absorbed by the cover. The cover will absorb the moisture
and it will keep the moisture from getting in the duvet. The duvet will be kept safe and clean with a
cover over it. The longevity of the duvet also depends on the quality of the cover.

Summary of Case In the case study changing Dynamics of the U.S. Airline industry were discuss and

Delta wanted to increase its liquidity so they decided to sell its subsidiary Atlantic Southeast Airlines
to Sky West Airline for $425 million in August 2005. Analysts believed that Delta was on the merge of
bankruptcy. The Civil Aeronautics Board 9cab) imposed major restriction on marketing entry and
market access. There were regulation on rates, routes and services that reduce amount of competition

They also face competition at their hub airports in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Memphis,
Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York JFK, Salt Lake City, Amsterdam and Tokyo Narita. The airline also
has competition in smaller to medium sized markets from regional jet operators. They faces problem
with foreign carriers, both on interior U.S. routes and international markets. The company fares and
rates vary by significant price competition. They set ticket prices in most domestic and international
city pairs without governmental regulation. Prices and rates are subject to the jurisdiction of the DOT
and the government of the foreign countries involved. Most of their tickets are sold by travel agents
therefore fares are subject to commissions, overrides and discounts paid to travel agents, brokers and
wholesalers. Delta is considered to be one of the largest airlines in the United States, capturing
approximately 17.5% of domestic commercial airline market. The market shared is measured in terms
of domestic revenue passenger miles. Delta s operating revenue on a GAAP (2) basis grew 27% to $7
billion in the June 2009 quarter compared to the prior year period as a result of its merger with
Northwest Airlines. On a combined basis (3), total operating revenue declined $2.1 billion, or 23%,
and total unit revenue (RASM) declined 17%. (Delta, 2009). Northwest s operations for the period

Gertrude And Ophelia And Hamlet Character Analysis
Imagine being told that you are loved, and then are treated like you are worth nothing. This is a reality
for the women in Hamlet written by William Shakespeare; Gertrude and Ophelia. Women in the 1600s
were seen as objects with no value and were only there for the convenience of the male in their life.
Gertrude and Ophelia are the only two female characters in the play, and there are many males in the
play that treat them with disrespect. Hamlet is the big offender of these two women in the play. The
relationship between Ophelia and Hamlet is confusing because it goes back and forth, where Hamlet
loves Ophelia, to where he never loved her, disrespecting her beyond belief. Gertrude, Hamlet s
mother, is married to Claudius, King Hamlet s brother, and this frustrates Hamlet. Hamlet lashes out at
Gertrude for this marriage, being mistreated by her own son. In Hamlet, both main characters are
portrayed as objects with little to no significance and are treated with no respect by their male
counterparts. Ophelia, Hamlet s lustful partner, is shown the most disrespect throughout the play.
Ophelia s whole life is centered around her father, and the play allows Ophelia no mind of her own;
instead it has her minding her father s precepts (Johnson 111). This is supported by the text when she
says, I do not know, my lord, what I should think (1.3.113). She just tries to please her father. Ophelia
admits to Polonius that she has a relationship with Hamlet and he exclaims, In few, Ophelia,/ Do not
believe his vows (1.3.135 136). He wants her to have nothing to do with Hamlet and she simply
obeys. One things is clear to her auditors, however: whatever she is saying, it relates to her father
(Johnson 112). This is one of many mistreatments she gets by men in the play. Hamlet and Ophelia are
having a lustful relationship where the love between them is not mutual, where Ophelia loves him, but
Hamlet does not reciprocate. In the beginning of the play, Ophelia receives a letter from Hamlet which
says, Doubt thou the stars are fire,/ Doubt that the sun doth move,/ Doubt truth to be a liar,/ But never
doubt I love./ O dear Ophelia, I am ill at these numbers. I have not /art to reckon my groans, but that I

Gender Of The Gift By The Marilyn Strathern
The book Gender of the Gift by the Marilyn Strathern is a detailed evaluation of the problems faced
by women and the society at large in Melanesia. The study mainly focuses on the native s culture with
the guinea mead s field report as the center of interest. The report encompasses mead s adolescence
and sexual traits. The book also reviews several other anthropological reports all around the area. The
way in which the author reveals the state of the art is quite confusing although the method of
revelation is satisfying. The section of the book helps to explain into details the dynamics of the
anthropological field since Margret Mead left.
The book has been written when the anthropology field is undergoing critical technological
advancement. It is aimed at reaching generations that are experiencing problems with self
identification, power and over ambitious objectives. This post modern anthropology insists that the
outside is of importance just like the inside (Strathern 1988:65). The foreign culture in the report has
been disregarded due to lack of proper authenticity and instead the ethnography front page space has
been taken over by the backstage field workers and self questioning commentary.

first communicates messages on consciousness but at the same time writes a post modernized book
about anthropology. The issues she attempts to address are against the

Trojan War Analysis
The story of the Trojan war has fascinated humans for centuries and has given rise to countless
scholarly articles and books, extensive archaeological excavations, epic movies, television
documentaries, stage plays, art and sculptures, souvenirs and collectibles. But the real question is, was
homer a real person? Certainly heroes, from Achilles to Hector, are portrayed so credibly that is easy
to believe the story is based from true events. But is it truly an account based on real events? And were
the main characters actually real people? Would the ancient worlds equivalent of the entire nation of
Greece really have gone to war over a single woman, however beautiful, and for ten long years at the?
There is both considerable and uncertain archaeological and written evidence to support the
occurrence of the famous Trojan War. Various sources have referred to a great war occurring in the
13th century involving the Greek city Mycenae and the successful independent city of Troy. The
discovery of archaeological evidence by various archaeologists such as Schliemann, Dorpfeld and
Korfmann support the theory that the Trojan war did in fact occur, expelling the uncertainty over Troy
s significance. In addition to this, there is an extreme amount of evidence to declare Mycenae s motive
and role within the war. However the unreliability of The Iliad places historical doubt on Homer s
views on the Trojan War. But although there is various inconsistencies in the evidence to support

Environmental Policy Of Vietnam s National Parks
Vietnam is home to 10% of the world s mammal, bird, and fish species, and over 40% of local plant
species are endemic (IUCN, 1999). However, accelerated deforestation, habitat loss and illegal
poaching (TRAFFIC, 2005) has led to the rapid depletion of endangered animals, such that Vietnam
has become one of 10 countries suffering from a remarkable biodiversity reduction (VNN, 1999). As
such, biodiversity conservation has become an important policy device in Vietnam s environmental
sector (Zingerli, 2005). Conservation practices and priorities have changed over time in response to
changing societal needs (Vasseur Hart, 2002). Likewise, Vietnam has taken various approaches to
conservation since its 1986 renovation policy of doi moi. In this essay, we will be reviewing the
effectiveness of current approaches of a community based approach to conservation in resettlement
projects conducted in Vietnam s national parks.
Community based Conservation
Community based conservation refers to turning more human beings into conservationist (Robert et
al., 2012) such that locals can form networks with each other, community based organisation, Non
Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and government agencies for the conservation of biodiversity
and ecosystems (Robert et al., 2012). It creates a stake for local communities in conserving resources
(Brown, 1998) such that the interests of conservation and development can be simultaneously
achieved (Berkes, 2004).
In Vietnam, community based

that archivists had attached a label to the file: Warning: some images may cause distress . In
September 1942, the officials of the Foreign Office called them horrific .(these were separate from the
microfilms brought across the Channel by Karski which contained other photos and texts: Karski
arrived in London on November 25, 1942, but his microfilm was taken from Portugal by the British
officials he had met there, on November 17). But the officials were not the only ones who had seen
them, in the secret of political elites. Exactly the same pictures were published at the time and easily
seen by everybody who wanted to, in England, for example in Szmul Zygelbojm s 1942 pamphlet

Importance of the 1832 Reform Act Essay
To what extent was the 1832 Reform
Act the most important development in politics and government between 1780 and 1832 (36)
Overall, the 1832 Reform Act was a major development in politics and government between 1780 and
1832; however it was not the most important development. It still remained significant to the growth
of the period as this was the first official governmental document on reform that was introduced and it
set a precedent for further reforms. Whilst it only removed the worst abuses in the existing system, the
Act started to make Britain more democratic. It introduced more just representation of the franchise
and made it its primary aim to demolish the majority of pocket and rotten boroughs. Nevertheless,

However, this was important because although there was split opinion in the reform movement, it
united the public for change in parliament which ultimately led to the government being pressured into
passing the Reform Bill.
Another relatively important issue that had a dramatic effect on the reform movement was the impact
of the French Revolution in 1789. It could be argued that this was the trigger cause of revolutionary
attitudes in Britain due to the extremity of the events occurring in the nations neighbouring country
France at the time. It caused fear among the aristocracy yet at the same time unified them as a group;
determined to resist similar moves of radicalism in Britain. However, this event occurred right at the
beginning of the period henceforth the impact of this factor gradually declined over time, rendering
this affair a less important factor on the whole.
Pitt s Repressive policies were also important in the growth of more radical movements in the country.
Pitt feared events similar to those that occurred in France would transpire within Britain and so he
imposed a great deal of policies as deterrents, discouraging the people of Britain from revolution. Due
to the harsh measures imposed on the British public at the time the public became very angry with the
government. This aggravation led to public attitudes becoming more extreme and the current upper

Historical Significance and Leadership of Sojourner Truth
Unit 9 Final Project SS230 01, Historical Significance and Leadership of Sojourner Truth. Philip P.
Conty Sunday, April 28, 2013 Kaplan University Prof. Christopher Powers Historical Significance and
Leadership of Sojourner Truth. Since the early twentieth Century, Sojourner Truth has been rated by a
number of studies as among the prominent African Americans who have contributed to the rich history
of the United States. Indeed, volumes of scholarly journals (Caroll, 1985; Redding, 1971) on America
s history have been adorned by her civil image and feminist character in the campaign against
violation of women s rights and slavery. Throughout her advocacy life, Truth will be remembered for

Her contributions to emancipation of oppressed minorities from social restraint dates were initiated by
her successful elusion from slavery in 1827 (Smith, 1951). After moving to New York City, she
embraced evangelical religion and actively engaged in moral reforms. Having joined the Utopian
Community (which was mainly based in New York), she ventured in the preaching career, acquiring a
great deal of Biblical knowledge. Her abolitionist policies were inscribed in her entertaining and
highly instructive gospel songs that she sang as a wandering orator and famous platform figure. A year
before mandatory emancipation of slaves in New York City, Sojourner officially adopted the names
Sojourner Truth in 1843. From Brawdy s (1991) revelations, Truth proved to be a servant of the people
during the Great Civil War. She collected clothing and food for displaced populations, tramping the
isolated roads of Michigan. According to Edwards (1986), she was the first human rights activist to
confront President Abraham Lincoln at White House, where she dedicated her life and mobilized
resources to the service of freed persons. Truth s extra ordinary personality transcended her religious
beliefs and obligations. A few studies claim that during the Reconstruction Period, she resolved to sell
her personal images, photographs of her shadows as well as the narratives of her personal life to
support the integration and inclusion of freed slaves into the American

Buying Renting Your Vacant Home
To Rent or Sell Your Vacant Home
Have you ever thought whether it would be better to rent or sell a vacant home that you own? Maybe
you already have someone renting the home, or you have been considering renting it out to tenants,
but would that really be the better choice? Deciding whether or not to sell or rent your vacant home is
an incredibly big decision that requires a lot of thought. Therefore, you should always look at the pros
and cons of selling or renting your vacant home.

If they believe that the value is not going to go up anytime soon, or at all, it s best to sell your vacant
home as soon as you can.
By going with a real estate agent to sell your vacant home, the process will go a lot more smoothly
when compared to doing it by yourself, especially if you need to sell it within a short period of time.
They will help you and tell you what to do when it comes to preparing the home, like referring you to
a plumber or an electrician to have them come in and do a walk through to ensure everything is in
order.
They will also give you advice when it comes to whether or not you should stage the home, or just
leave it empty of furniture, if you currently do not have any in there. Your real estate agent will also
guide you through the selling price, meeting with potential buyers, going over the negotiation process,
and finalizing the sale. However, if you would like them to handle the meeting with buyers,
negotiations, and closing the deal, you can sit out of these parts completely.
Although, if you are still unsure whether or not you want to sell or rent your vacant home, or you re
willing to take the chance in a neighborhood that is losing some of it s value, then the pros and cons
below will help you to decide on your final decision.
The Pros and Cons of Renting Your Vacant Home

Taking a Look at Complentizers
Chapter 1: Complementizers
1.1. Definition of Complementizers
Complement clauses, or subordinate clauses, are most of the times preceded by a special word called
Complementizer . Words like that, if, and for are used to introduce clauses that function as a
complement of the matrix verb. The choice of the verb in the subordi nate clause is related to these
complementizers. For instance, the complementizers that, if and the Arabic complementizer ʔanna are
used to introduce finite clauses, while for and the Arabic ʔan are, of course, for infinitival ones.
Our focus in this chapter is going to be on the study of each type of these com plementizers in
isolation.
1.2. Finite complementizers
A finite clause contains a conjugated verb, that is a verb marked for tense, person, and number. In
English, finite clauses have an overt subject. (Marguerite Mahler:2004). Whereas, a finite clause in
Arabic is the clause that has a conjugated verb in one of the tenses of Arabic ( present, past, and
future).
It is well known that the main, or the matrix, clause of a complex sentence must be fi nite. While, on
the other hand, the finiteness of the embedded clause is related mainly to the complementizer that
precedes it. Consequently, the clauses that follow the comple mentizers that, if, and the Arabic ʔanna
are finite clauses.
1.2.1. The complementizer that
That is a complementizer used to introduce finite declarative clauses that function as a complement or
subject of the matrix clause.

Battle of Blair Mountain
BATTLE OF BLAIR MOUNTAIN
Terry M. Deener
West Virginia History HIST225
March 10, 2013
In the early 20th Century, West Virginia was a place where coal barons held immense power. Coal
companies owned towns, mayors and governors. Miners were forced to live on coal camps and rent
houses from them, as well as purchase all of their coal and other items required to survive from the
companies. With this control, mining families where forced to live and work in brutal conditions. In
1921, after a generation of violent suppression, miners erupted in the largest class war in US history.
For 5 days miners fought the coal barons, over 1 million rounds of ammunition were fired, this is
known as the Battle of Blair Mountain.

This enraged the miners and they began to exit the mines and take arms.
Miners along the Little Coal River were among the first to militarize, and began to patrol and the
guard the area. Sheriff Don Chafin sent his troopers from Logan County to Little Coal River area. The
troopers were quickly overthrown, apprehended, disarmed, and sent back running from the miners.
Frank Keeney and Fred Mooney, the leaders of the UMWA District 17, called a rally at the state
capitol in Charleston. The two met with Governor Ephraim Morgan, and presented him with a petition
spelling out the miners demands. Governor Morgan rejected the miners demands which caused the
miners to become more restless. Miners began to talk about organizing a march on Mingo to free the
confined miners, end martial law, and organize the county; unfortunately, the only things standing in
their way were Blair Mountain, Logan County, and Sheriff Don Chafin.
The first altercations occurred on August 25, 1921. The majority of miners were still 15 miles away.
President Warren Harding threatened to send in federal troops and Army Martin MB 1 bombers. After
a long discussion in the town of Madison, agreements were made and miners were convinced to go
home. Chafin although did not expect to sit quietly after assembling his private army, he wanted a
battle to end union attempts at organizing Logan County

Essay On Kevin Salmon
Kevin Salmon is a Sous Chef at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, a Sous Chef is the second
highest position a person can have in a kitchen, the position being under an Executive Chef most
directly compares to an Assistant Manager. For lack of information about Kevin s regular schedule we
are going to base this day off of one preparing for a convention, which he does on a fairly regular
basis, so it is pretty accurate. Kevin would most likely get to work at 8 in the morning, when he
arrived he would walk around the kitchen make sure everything is all ready for the day and that his

job is definitely not for everyone. To be a chef like Kevin is, you would need to have extreme passion
and dedication towards cooking, because to get to the place that he is at he put in many years of his
time and effort, starting at the bottom and working his way up. Kevin says that I stayed in this field

The Causes Of Racial Tensions In WWII
Racial Tensions in America WWII America has always been a place of great racial tensions. From
colonial times to the present day, The United States has always been racially contested. However, in
the onslaught of WWII these tensions reached new levels and different levels. Americans came to fear
the Japanese, Japanese Americans, and Mexican Americans. While many believed that these racially
based fears were unjustified, due to the racial ideas already in place, the violence and aggression that
occurred during the war, propaganda, and the government s actions, these fears were not as unrealistic
as they may appear today. During the time leading up to the onslaught of the Second World War, the
Japanese had never been considered much of a threat on the international stage. The Japanese had
stayed unindustrialized and rather primitive until this time. As far as White Europeans were concerned
the Japanese were little men . They were not at all anywhere near comparable to the sophisticated and
racially, economically, morally, and physically superior Whites of the Western Hemisphere (Dower
173). However, Japanese violence quickly caused these ideas of weak and harmless Japanese to fade
away. On December 7, 1941 , the Japanese military attacked Pearl Harbor, and continued to have
victories in Malaysia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Wake and Midway Island soon after (Gorn
202) Theses victories revealed the power and violence the Japanese were capable of. The

Argumentative Essay About Inner City
The phrase inner cities has been mentioned a lot during the presidential election of 2016. President
Trump used the phrase to describe African American communities. According to the Oxford English
Dictionary, the word inner city refers to the area near the center of a city, especially associated with
social and economic problems. It describes an area in the center of a city, however in most cities, the
center of the city is downtown. If you drive around downtown Dallas, the center of the city, the
residential areas are filled with expensive condominiums. I m sure there is not an economic problem. I
would not describe downtown Dallas as the inner city. Upon researching the definition of the word
inner city, I was alarmed at the references ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The government increased the value of the housing vouchers to allow those families to move to better
neighborhoods in suburban America.
However, in contrast, many European cities consider the inner city as the most prosperous part of the
metropolis, where housing is expensive, where elites and high income individuals dwell. Poverty and
crime are more associated with the distant suburbs. (Facts) President Trump describes American inner
cities basically as a war zone. During his presidential debate, President Trump stated our inner cities
are poor and riddle with crimes, people are uneducated and fear getting shot when they walk outside.
Info wars .com states Today, there are approximately 20.2 million Americans that spend more than
half of their incomes on housing. (Info) That represents a 46 percent increase from 2001. It also states,
One out of every four workers in the United States brings home wages that are at or below the poverty
level, more than 100 million Americans are enrolled in at least one welfare program run by the federal

A focus mainly on conventional financial and non financial based measurement and control is
considered too narrow in scope (Otley, 2003, 2001). There is an increasing expectation that MAC
systems should be innovative in design, flexible in operation, and should enable rapid organisational
change in response to capricious environmental circumstances (Otley, 1994; Otley et al, 1995; Otley,
2001; Nixon Burns, 2005). This implies an extension beyond traditional ideas of management
accounting and organisational control.
The research presented in this paper examines the interface between MAC and organisational strategy
by means of a case study of a New Zealand manufacturing business operating in a turbulent
environment. Key findings relate to the important role of an organic approach in the development and
support of a strategic focus to MAC. A relatively small privately owned business was selected for the
research because it has been suggested that, unlike large public corporations, such organisations often
have strong visionary management and may adopt a broader and more inventive management
accounting focus (Mitchell Reid, 2000; Dillard et al, 2005). Further, such organisations could be seen
as potential innovators in relation to MAC practices.

relating to a contemporary MAC framework, which underpins the focus of the case study. The

  • 2. Rule of Law in the Constitution Introduction A free society is a system of interaction between humans wherein every person can participate in a civilised manner and without discrimination. In Australia, the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act 1900 (Imp) is the primary source by which society operates as an essentially free society. This paper seeks to establish that the functioning of such a society is dependent upon the existence of a legal framework supporting the rule of law, which is ultimately, an ideology. Analogically, the circumstances in which the application of the rule of law has either created a free society or undermined it will be explored and its purposes thus inferred to construct a definition of the rule of law reflecting contemporary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In asserting its judicial independence, the High Court in Plaintiff S157/2002 v Commonwealth stated it was the ultimate decision maker in all matters where there is a contest. Zywicki suggests that as long as the court follows precedent and thereby gives individuals more certainty of knowledge over the rights they possess, social coordination and economic wealth will increase. The courts would not be relying on its discretion, but rules which will apply equally in the future. Thus, refining Dicey s definition, Zywicki views rule based decision making as a basic concept of the rule of law. Contrarily, Sykes suggests discretion may be a matter of necessary efficiency which is more valuable than strictly adhering to the rule of law. The rule of law, then, does not encapsulate the absolute value of society. Sykes refers to police discretionary power; however, this concept of balancing the rule of law against other values may be extended to situations wherein exceptions and defences in law apply to certain groups. Consider the conferral of legal privilege and the requirement of confidentiality on legal practitioners in criminal law whereas equality before the law operates in favour of the client, the law of legal privilege applies only to legal practitioners. As Sykes emphasises, it would be unjust if the law failed to account for social difference and disadvantage... Zywicki would concur and modifies the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of Richard Parker s The Last Animal The last animal, Richard Parker, symbolizes Pi, his animal like instincts when he was stranded at sea, as he must complete many tasks to survive which in the real world he would find very hard to do. Richard Parker can symbolize many things, Pi himself and Pi s fears. Richard Parker represents Pi himself, and his inner strength. In Mexico, when Richard Parker left Pi and is never to be seen again, it shows that Richard Parker was only what Pi needed for strength and that he never was real. He also represents Pi s fears, and how he overcomes all of his fears, mainly his major fear; death. The skills Pi had learned at his father s zoo helped him face his fear of Richard Parker and in order to tame Richard Parker, he pretends that he is at a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This time he had gave him a new start, and it helped Pi to equally grow and to expand as a person. This is shown by the fact that Pi had left his vegetarianism, because if he wanted to survive, he had to kill and eat fish. That is not it though, as he also had to learn how to take care of himself and survive on his own since his parents were not on the lifeboat with him. Although in the moment this may have been hard for Pi to do, but in the end it only had a positive outcome on him. After his journey was over, he was a much more respecting, thankful, stronger more mature person. The cargo ship, the Tsimtsum, is also symbolic. The family was forced to Canada from India due to government issues. All the animals from the zoo are put on the ship, the family is excited, and all is well. The ship leaves and Pi is enjoying the journey so far, as everyone is. At the beginning the ship is smooth sailing, until the devastating storm comes and the ship sinks. The Tsimtsum sinking is symbolic of Pi s life. When Pi was stranded out in the ocean all alone, it was taking a great toll on him emotionally, Pi just stops everything and takes a break, he says; I looked out at the empty horizon. There was so much water. And I was all alone. All alone. I burst into hot tears. I buried my face in my crossed arms and sobbed. My situation was patently hopeless (Martel 187). • 4. New York City Public Transportation System Beginning in June of 1952, when the Metropolitan Transportation Authority was founded, advances in transportation in New York City have improved the city s developing economy and have benefitted people to a great extent. Located in the heart of Manhattan, the MTA headquarters are home to hundreds of different vehicles, ridden by thousands daily. The train tracks and bus routes run through Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and the Bronx, unifying all five boroughs and improving the lives of everyone Beginning at $0.05 and going up to $2.50, one way bus fare has slowly been increasing since the MTA was founded. Although the cost depends mainly on how far the vehicle is traveling, this is the standard expense and the difference is significant. This cost is beneficial to travellers because it is inexpensive, and convenient for day to day use. Along with convenience, there are multiple economic benefits to using New York City public transportation. Pollution can become less of a problem, because travellers aren t taking individual cars throughout the state. The system is reliable for workers and travellers, making New York City a busy tourist area. The schedules are clearly posted, along with dozens of different times of the day to make travelling less of a hassle. There is arguably less stress on the commuter about traffic on the streets and less worrying about time since the transportation system is reliable. • 6. There they feed for 2 3 days and they increase their weight 10 20 times. Thy then drop off into the vegetation and continue to grow. After several months, the lava molts to an 8 legged nymph of around 2mm. A few months later the nymph molts again into the final stage of tick development; the adult. The adult female can only feed successfully on larger animals such as dogs, deer sheep and cows. When it feeds it can grow to 150 times its original weight. The immature stages of the tick can paratize almost any warm blooded animal. [IMAGE]The picture to the left is of a male and female tick mating. • 7. The Legacy Of John Smith When the name John Smith is mentioned, people of all ages are familiar with it and could tell a lot about him. Why is this? How is it that a man who lived over 400 years ago still so popular today, more specifically to our children? The answer to that question is because John Smith can be viewed as one of America s earliest heroes. His leadership was vital to the survival of the Jamestown colony. Most people are familiar with his famous quote, he that will not work shall not eat. He carried all the qualities of an influential leader, and even had a mystical legend with Pocahontas, in which no one truly knows what happened. His leadership characteristics and qualities possessed hard work, grit, and determination. He was an individualist that had an American dream. However, during his time, the colonists did not look at it as an American dream. Without him and his leadership, America may not be what it is today. In John Smith s writings in From the General History of Virginia, one can make the interesting observation that Smith constantly refers to himself as he instead of I . He directly shows the reader his personal sense of pride and self confidence in himself. An example of this from the text would be when he said, But seeing by trade and courtesy there was nothing to be had, he made bold to try such conclusions as necessity enforced; though contrary to his commission, he let fly his muskets, ran his boat on shore, whereat they all fled into the woods. • 8. Creationism Vs Genesis History For centuries there has been a feud that almost every scientist has been part of; the creation vs evolution controversy. Ever since 1859, when Darwin wrote On the Origin of Species, the argument on whether Earth was created by a higher being, or just evolved from atoms, has been one of the most discussed topics. Of late, the evolutionary standpoint has been discussed more the creationist standpoint. However, Is Genesis History? is a documentary that brings light to the creationist standpoint. Is Genesis History, proves there is a higher being out there, known as God, that actually created the earth in 6 days, and the earth is only 4,000 years old! With the Bible, we can explain many of the proofs of evolution, on how it actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Was the world created in six days? The answer to that question is yes, a most definite yes. Just take a look at the Grand Canyon; layers of sediment are proof of how the flood brought different layers of dirt. As you go farther down the Grand Canyon, you can see the different levels of sedimentary rock. You can see that the different layers line up with each other, almost as if someone drew a line and said: OK no more shales, now it is time for phosphates. Is Genesis History? explained, that if the water was to have carved out the Grand Canyon, there would be more signs of erosion between the different layers of sedimentary rocks, the farther you went down the Canyon. However, that s not the case; the top layers of the Grand Canyon are actually more eroded the bottom layer of rocks. The top layers of the Grand Canyon share the same type of sedimentary rock as most of the top layer of North America. Sediment was carried by the flood and then that sediment was carved by the water draining into the ocean. The Grand Canyon, one of the most iconic natural landmarks, is a living proof that the world was created in six days. Another interesting proof of the Great Flood, which in turn proves Genesis is telling the truth, are fossils. There is a layer of rock that is spread all over North America, known as the Nautiloid Bed. This layer of rock ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. ‘The Metamorphosis’ and ‘A Hunger Artist’ There are many parallels and differences between Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis and A Hunger Artist . Kafka portrays these differences and similarities very effectively through his utilization of elements such as transformation, dehumanization, and dedication to work. Through his works, Kafka communicates with the reader in such a way that almost provokes and challenges one s imagination and creativity. Kafka is known for his highly symbolic and oblique style of writing. It is no surprise that several of his pieces contain the same major themes, just in different settings. The fact that he repeats his styles only makes the message that he is trying to convey much stronger. In both The Metamorphosis and A Hunger Artist , the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In A Hunger Artist, the main character s lack of fulfillment causes him despair. He reacts to this disparity by starving himself, almost as if showing resistance to the outside world. He views himself as separate from everyone else, thus confining himself in a cage (Bedford 636). Another evident similarity between the two works is the treatment of the characters. Both Gregor and the hunger artist are treated inhumanely. This is clear in The Metamorphosis when Greta begins to think of Gregor as an it (Metamorphosis 51). Although Gregor has transformed physically, he is still human inside. Everyone around him fails to see that though, and only regard him by what they see, which is a bug. Likewise, the hunger artist is not treated as a human being either. The hunger artist is infatuated with being the best faster in Europe. This obsession deprives him from forming any social or long lasting relationships. His alienation eventually accounts for his demise, along with the fact that he is constantly misunderstood. The people who come to see him, as well as the people who guard him, do not understand that he is not fasting for amusement. Fasting beyond the forty day limit is important to the hunger artist, but no one can comprehend why, which creates a barrier between the hunger artist and the outside world. Because of this barrier, people treat him as if he is just another animal in a cage. When he joins ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Differences In Twins Compare And Contrast Subash Khanal ENGLISH 1113 @ TR@ 9:30 Mrs. Smith 8th Dec, 2016 Difference in twins and clones From the very beginning of evolution, human beings have been developing themselves rapidly in physical and mental aspects. With every successful evolutionary era, human beings are found to be somewhat alike to their ancestor. Birth of twins is always a matter of great curiosity in world. Many are amazed with this fact of twining. The fact that contrasts offspring s being alike to their ancestor is a genetic carrier called DNA. DNA is a double helical structure that is composed of genetic material called chromosomes. Chromosomes found in human body cells are equal in number in each cell and are formed after the cell division and condensation of DNA (charlotte 3). With growing technology and scientific progress artificial twining called cloning is also made possible. But, Identical twins made from biological parents are incomparable to the clones made from a genetic host. Genetic material called Chromosomes carry genetic material from springs to spring with slight variation. During birth unusual division of chromosome can give birth to twins. Twins can be of two types identical twins and fraternal twins. Identical twins look alike but fraternal twins do not. Twining is a biological process. There is another artificial process of making twins that is cloning, which results same as twining. Usually by definition, clones are living organism that has placed themselves in a different ... The term sweatshop is used to describe a factory that violates two or more laws regarding labor. In many developing countries, these workers are subject to terrible working conditions, low wage, child labour, unreasonable hours and a lack of benefits. Sweatshops are utilised due to the cheap labor and production by a number of companies like Zara, Kmart, Cotton On and Target. Despite a number of incidents involving factory fires, collapse and faulty/malfunctioning equipment killing hundreds at a time, workers continue to face these horrendous conditions and treatment. This is a social justice issue as wealthy companies take advantage of the desperation and vulnerability of those living in poverty. This results in unequal wealth, unfair and immoral treatment of poor people, especially women who make up 85% of the workforce and children, for which there are over 250 million aged 5 14 in the industry. • 16. Gertrude And Ophelia And Hamlet Character Analysis Imagine being told that you are loved, and then are treated like you are worth nothing. This is a reality for the women in Hamlet written by William Shakespeare; Gertrude and Ophelia. Women in the 1600s were seen as objects with no value and were only there for the convenience of the male in their life. Gertrude and Ophelia are the only two female characters in the play, and there are many males in the play that treat them with disrespect. Hamlet is the big offender of these two women in the play. The relationship between Ophelia and Hamlet is confusing because it goes back and forth, where Hamlet loves Ophelia, to where he never loved her, disrespecting her beyond belief. Gertrude, Hamlet s mother, is married to Claudius, King Hamlet s brother, and this frustrates Hamlet. Hamlet lashes out at Gertrude for this marriage, being mistreated by her own son. In Hamlet, both main characters are portrayed as objects with little to no significance and are treated with no respect by their male counterparts. Ophelia, Hamlet s lustful partner, is shown the most disrespect throughout the play. Ophelia s whole life is centered around her father, and the play allows Ophelia no mind of her own; instead it has her minding her father s precepts (Johnson 111). This is supported by the text when she says, I do not know, my lord, what I should think (1.3.113). She just tries to please her father. Ophelia admits to Polonius that she has a relationship with Hamlet and he exclaims, In few, Ophelia,/ Do not believe his vows (1.3.135 136). He wants her to have nothing to do with Hamlet and she simply obeys. One things is clear to her auditors, however: whatever she is saying, it relates to her father (Johnson 112). This is one of many mistreatments she gets by men in the play. Hamlet and Ophelia are having a lustful relationship where the love between them is not mutual, where Ophelia loves him, but Hamlet does not reciprocate. In the beginning of the play, Ophelia receives a letter from Hamlet which says, Doubt thou the stars are fire,/ Doubt that the sun doth move,/ Doubt truth to be a liar,/ But never doubt I love./ O dear Ophelia, I am ill at these numbers. • 18. Trojan War Analysis The story of the Trojan war has fascinated humans for centuries and has given rise to countless scholarly articles and books, extensive archaeological excavations, epic movies, television documentaries, stage plays, art and sculptures, souvenirs and collectibles. But the real question is, was homer a real person? Certainly heroes, from Achilles to Hector, are portrayed so credibly that is easy to believe the story is based from true events. But is it truly an account based on real events? And were the main characters actually real people? Would the ancient worlds equivalent of the entire nation of Greece really have gone to war over a single woman, however beautiful, and for ten long years at the? There is both considerable and uncertain archaeological and written evidence to support the occurrence of the famous Trojan War. Various sources have referred to a great war occurring in the 13th century involving the Greek city Mycenae and the successful independent city of Troy. The discovery of archaeological evidence by various archaeologists such as Schliemann, Dorpfeld and Korfmann support the theory that the Trojan war did in fact occur, expelling the uncertainty over Troy s significance. In addition to this, there is an extreme amount of evidence to declare Mycenae s motive and role within the war. However, accelerated deforestation, habitat loss and illegal poaching (TRAFFIC, 2005) has led to the rapid depletion of endangered animals, such that Vietnam has become one of 10 countries suffering from a remarkable biodiversity reduction (VNN, 1999). As such, biodiversity conservation has become an important policy device in Vietnam s environmental sector (Zingerli, 2005). Conservation practices and priorities have changed over time in response to changing societal needs (Vasseur Hart, 2002). Likewise, Vietnam has taken various approaches to conservation since its 1986 renovation policy of doi moi. It still remained significant to the growth of the period as this was the first official governmental document on reform that was introduced and it set a precedent for further reforms. It could be argued that this was the trigger cause of revolutionary attitudes in Britain due to the extremity of the events occurring in the nations neighbouring country France at the time. It caused fear among the aristocracy yet at the same time unified them as a group; determined to resist similar moves of radicalism in Britain. However, this event occurred right at the beginning of the period henceforth the impact of this factor gradually declined over time, rendering this affair a less important factor on the whole. Pitt s Repressive policies were also important in the growth of more radical movements in the country. Pitt feared events similar to those that occurred in France would transpire within Britain and so he imposed a great deal of policies as deterrents, discouraging the people of Britain from revolution. Definition of Complementizers Complement clauses, or subordinate clauses, are most of the times preceded by a special word called Complementizer . Words like that, if, and for are used to introduce clauses that function as a complement of the matrix verb. The choice of the verb in the subordi nate clause is related to these complementizers. For instance, the complementizers that, if and the Arabic complementizer ʔanna are used to introduce finite clauses, while for and the Arabic ʔan are, of course, for infinitival ones. Our focus in this chapter is going to be on the study of each type of these com plementizers in isolation. 1.2. Finite complementizers A finite clause contains a conjugated verb, that is a verb marked for tense, person, and number. In English, finite clauses have an overt subject. (Marguerite Mahler:2004). Whereas, a finite clause in Arabic is the clause that has a conjugated verb in one of the tenses of Arabic ( present, past, and future). It is well known that the main, or the matrix, clause of a complex sentence must be fi nite. • 30. The Causes Of Racial Tensions In WWII Racial Tensions in America WWII America has always been a place of great racial tensions. From colonial times to the present day, The United States has always been racially contested. However, in the onslaught of WWII these tensions reached new levels and different levels. Americans came to fear the Japanese, Japanese Americans, and Mexican Americans. While many believed that these racially based fears were unjustified, due to the racial ideas already in place, the violence and aggression that occurred during the war, propaganda, and the government s actions, these fears were not as unrealistic as they may appear today. During the time leading up to the onslaught of the Second World War, the Japanese had never been considered much of a threat on the international stage. The Japanese had stayed unindustrialized and rather primitive until this time. As far as White Europeans were concerned the Japanese were little men . They were not at all anywhere near comparable to the sophisticated and racially, economically, morally, and physically superior Whites of the Western Hemisphere (Dower 173). However, Japanese violence quickly caused these ideas of weak and harmless Japanese to fade away. On December 7, 1941 , the Japanese military attacked Pearl Harbor, and continued to have victories in Malaysia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Wake and Midway Island soon after (Gorn 202) Theses victories revealed the power and violence the Japanese were capable of. President Trump used the phrase to describe African American communities. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word inner city refers to the area near the center of a city, especially associated with social and economic problems. It describes an area in the center of a city, however in most cities, the center of the city is downtown. If you drive around downtown Dallas, the center of the city, the residential areas are filled with expensive condominiums. I m sure there is not an economic problem. I would not describe downtown Dallas as the inner city. Upon researching the definition of the word inner city, I was alarmed at the references ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The government increased the value of the housing vouchers to allow those families to move to better neighborhoods in suburban America. However, in contrast, many European cities consider the inner city as the most prosperous part of the metropolis, where housing is expensive, where elites and high income individuals dwell. Poverty and crime are more associated with the distant suburbs. (Facts) President Trump describes American inner cities basically as a war zone. However, there is limited ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A focus mainly on conventional financial and non financial based measurement and control is considered too narrow in scope (Otley, 2003, 2001). There is an increasing expectation that MAC systems should be innovative in design, flexible in operation, and should enable rapid organisational change in response to capricious environmental circumstances (Otley, 1994; Otley et al, 1995; Otley, 2001; Nixon Burns, 2005). This implies an extension beyond traditional ideas of management accounting and organisational control. The research presented in this paper examines the interface between MAC and organisational strategy by means of a case study of a New Zealand manufacturing business operating in a turbulent environment. Key findings relate to the important role of an organic approach in the development and support of a strategic focus to MAC. A relatively small privately owned business was selected for the research because it has been suggested that, unlike large public corporations, such organisations often have strong visionary management and may adopt a broader and more inventive management accounting focus (Mitchell Reid, 2000; Dillard et al, 2005). Further, such organisations could be seen as potential innovators in relation to MAC practices. 2 The remainder of the paper is organised into five sections. The next section discusses literature relating to a contemporary MAC framework, which underpins the focus of the case study. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
