This document contains 16 quotes from Steve Jobs over his four decade career. Some of the key ideas expressed are that simple designs can be harder to achieve than complex ones; quality should take priority over quantity; and that people often don't know what they want until you show it to them. The quotes provide insights into Jobs' views on innovation, business, and living a fulfilling life through work one is passionate about.

Overview of business models used in on-lineAsen Gyczew
We work with startups on daily basis within our accelerator StartupAkademia and we have noticed that despite tones of very good books on lean methods (i.e. Lean Analytics, Running Lean etc.) startups as well as small / medium businesses have problems with applying this knowledge in practice. We have noticed that, especially first time startups, do not really understand their business model (which is totally understandable). That's why, it is very difficult for them to know what they should concentrate on. Most entrepreneurs / startups have more or less clear business idea but quite often they do not know the business models they can chose and end up learning it the hard way, through their mistakes. Some of them have read the Lean analytics, Lean Starup or Running Lean but even then they do not know exactly how to translate it into coherent Excel model. A business model in the form of Excel is very important for evaluating your business, seeing how much cash you need and how your hypothesis and KPIs are translating into the business
Therefore we build a course on Udemy: https://www.udemy.com/on-line-business-models-in-excel-practical-guide/
The presentation you will find here is just a fraction of what you can find in the course
What will this course give you?
The course is a practical, step by step guide loaded with tones of tips and tools that will help you significantly speed up with your business, especially if you are a startup or a small / medium business. There is little theory – mainly examples, a lot of tips from our own experience as well as other notable examples worth mentioning. Our intention is that thanks to the course you will know:
- What your business model is about, what to concentrate on and what are the key KPIs for you?
- How you can translate it into Excel and evaluate your business?
- How to make conclusions on the basis of your business model presented in the form of Excel
Liquidity Management for Management Consultants & ManagersAsen Gyczew
Many companies despite having profits still have problems with cash. In other words they have to improve their liquidity. This topic is not widely discussed and a few management consultants as well as managers know how to do it practice. Therefore, more companies die because of problems with liquidity than due to low profits. Luckily, there are a lot of techniques that will help you in a structured way look for ways to generate more cash from the business.
In this course I will show you different methods that you can use to improve the cash position of your business. You will learn the following things:
1. How to identify potential ways to improve your liquidity, especially quick wins
2. How to estimate in Excel how much cash you can generate from specific solution
3. How to pick the optimal solution
4. How to prevent the firm from going bankrupt due to liquidity problems
You will learn here how to cut costs, reduce inventory, reduce receivables, improve payables, and restructure debt and many more:

Business Model Canvas vs Lean Canvas vs One-Page Lean StartupRod King, Ph.D.
The Business Plan is the traditional document that established businesses and non-profit organizations as well as startups, entrepreneurs, and innovators use to document their strategy and tactics for achieving goals in projects. However, the traditional business plan is voluminous, complex, filled with grand hypotheses (vision), and becomes increasingly irrelevant as a project proceeds in the real world.
In recent years, many individuals and organizations have been abandoning the traditional business/strategic plan in favor of one-page documents that present project plans, business models, and ecosystems. The most common one-page project summaries are currently the tools of the Business Model Canvas, Lean Canvas, and One-Page Lean Startup. This presentation briefly introduces and compares these three business model (ecosystem) mapping tools especially using the workflow of 8 activities for Lean Startup Project Management.
Which business model (ecosystem) mapping tool is your favorite? And why?
What other tools are you using for summarizing, presenting, and managing your project plans as well as business models and ecosystems?
We look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards.

Market sizing TAM SAM SOM Target MarketReza Hashemi
Startups need a clear understanding of their market segment and show know about SAM, TAM abd SOM. As a Mentor in StartupWeekend and NEXT program, I have noticed that many entrepreneurs are not familiar with these terms. Here’s a quick explanation of what they mean, as an addition to this useful slides (Copyright notes inside) :TAM is Your Total Available or Addressable Market (everyone you wish to reach with your product) , SAM is Your Segmented Addressable Market or Served Available Market (the portion of TAM you will target), SOM is Your Share of the Market (the subset of your SAM that you will realistically reach – particularly in the first few years of your business), SOM is known as Target Market in Steve Blanc Startup Manual.
Identifying your TAM, SAM and SOM requires some market research.

Advertising agencies are obsessed with innovation. They also have one of the most unique sets of creative talent of any industry. Your Go-To-Market is Killing Your Business, and You Don't Even Know ItHubSpot
Modern customers expect that it will be easy to learn about your product and buy it, but most of our go-to-markets do the opposite. We ask people to fill out long forms, we build complex qualification rules, we make it tough for prospects to talk to someone right now. In short, we put up barriers that solve for our companies instead of solving for our customers.
At HubSpot, we’re mid-way through transforming our go-to-market to be customer centric. Learn what’s worked for us, what hasn’t, and what we’re building.

Here's the hard truth about marketing: your customers are better at it than you. Over the past decade, marketers perfected content creation, but as a result, things got a lot more competitive for businesses and a lot more crowded for buyers. So while creating content is still your best and cheapest strategy, it should no longer be your only strategy. That's where your customers come in. Learn more.
According to a recent report from Ernst & Young GmbH, both the number of funding rounds for startups in Germany and the overall value of those rounds hit record levels in the first six months of 2017. That tracks with what we’ve found in HubSpot research as well. We recently commissioned a survey of consumers living and/or working in the Berlin metro area, and found that the tech scene there is evolving quickly – 95 percent of Berliners see the number of technology jobs in the city growing, and 90 percent say Berlin also offers access to the technology and digital talent needed to grow a tech company. With Berlin offering the highest post-grad monthly salary for the European tech sector (3,112 euros per month, on average), it’s no surprise that the city has become a hub for fast-growing tech companies. And as of today, HubSpot is the latest to call the city home.

What's a Growth Stack? And why you should build one. HubSpot
It starts with a single problem. It always does. Maybe you need a few more leads to hit your number this month. Maybe you finally outgrew a system of spreadsheets. Maybe your boss challenged you to get more accurate with your reporting. So, you signed up for a piece of software to help you solve the problem and un-officially started building out your tech stack. Without a strategic approach, adding tool after tool can lead you down a dangerous path. Get more strategic about your software and don't just build any old stack, build a Growth Stack.
The lack of visible female role models is pervasive in the tech industry, particularly on Wikipedia, where just under 17% of Wikipedia biographies were on women. Modern Prospecting Techniques for Connecting with Prospects (from Sales Hacke...HubSpot
Sales is a difficult world to be in because buyers aren't putting up with salespeople anymore. Instead of helping and building relationships, sales reps are still focused on closing prospects - even when they aren't ready to buy! So buyers ignore them. Because of that, even great sales reps would be lucky to get on the phone with someone.
While buyers have evolved and become more sophisticated, sales reps and training programs have been slow to adapt to that change.
Learn actionable modern prospecting techniques you can apply immediately from two best selling authors and sales experts: Max Altschuler CEO of Sales Hacker, and Mark Roberge CRO of HubSpot.

5. “It’s really hard to design products by focus groups. A lot of times,
people don’t know what they want until you show it to them.”
6. “Simple can be harder than complex. You have to work hard to get
your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end,
because once you get there, you can move mountains.”
8. “When you’re a carpenter making a
beautiful chest of drawers, you’re not
going to use a piece of plywood on the
back, even though it faces the
wall and nobody will ever see it.
You’ll know it’s there, so you’re going to
use a beautiful piece of wood on the
back. For you to sleep well at night,
the aesthetic, the quality, has to be
carried all the way through.”
9. “QUALITY is more important than
QUANTITY. One HOME RUN is much
better than two DOUBLES.”
10. “The computer is the
most remarkable tool
we’ve ever come up with.
It’s the equivalent of a
bicycle for our minds.”
11. “I would trade all of my technology
for an afternoon with Socrates.”
12. “I’m as proud of many of the things we haven’t done as the things
we have done. Innovation is saying no to a thousand things.”
14. “Getting fired from Apple was
the best thing that could have
ever happened to me. The
heaviness of being
successful was replaced by
the lightness of being a
beginner again. It freed me
to enter one of the most
creative periods of my life.”
15. “Your work is going to fill
a large part of your life,
and the only way to be
truly satisfied is to do
what you believe is great
work. And the only way
to do great work is to
love what you do.”
16. “Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to
me. Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something
wonderful … that’s what matters to me.”
17. “My model for business is The Beatles. They
balanced each other, and the total was greater than
the sum of the parts. That’s how I see business:
great things in business are never done by one
person, they’re done by a team of people.”
18. “I don’t really care about
being right, I just care about
success. I don’t mind being
wrong, and I’ll admit I’m
wrong a lot. It doesn’t really
matter to me too much.
What matters to me is that
we do the right thing.”
19. “Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve
ever encountered to help make the big choices in life.
