The Importance Of A Formal Diagnosis Of Bdd
Data Collection The first step in my data collection will be to recruit participants. Because my study
aspires to get to the lived experience of what it is like to live with BDD, I need to choose participants
who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, this phenomenon. This will require I utilize
criterion based sampling, meaning the population sample will have characteristics relevant to my
research question (Creswell, 2012). Therefore, my task will be to find and select participants who will
be chosen on the basis of a formal diagnosis of BDD, as confirmed through their diagnosing clinician.
In order to do so, I will place advertisements on relevant social media sites, BDD Internet support
group websites, as well as other fitting locations I discover during my process. Prior to placing said
ads, I will be sure to obtain any necessary approval in order to adhere to ethical standards. Once the
prospective participants express interest, I will electronically send an invitation to participate, which
will include an introduction to the research, as well as consent and contact sheets. When participants
agree to participate, paper copies will be mailed to them. After receipt of signed consent and contact
forms, I will contact the clinicians designated on the consent forms in order to obtain a confirmation
of the participants BDD diagnosis prior to beginning. In regard to sample size, I cannot predict the
exact amount of participants I will need for my

Ionic Trends
The periodic trend for the atomic radius can be described as half the distance of the nuclei between the
two atoms, and most of the elements are formed covalent molecules. The radius is mostly measured in
picometers and the patterns can be observed through the periodic table and generally decreases from
left to right. This occurs because all the electrons are added in the same shell but protons are added to
the nucleus at the same time, which ends up making it more positive. What ends up happening is that
the proton numbers added are greater than the electrons added, which creates a strong nuclear
attraction, which greatly attracts the electrons as well. The electrons in the outside or formally called
valence electrons are then pressed closer to the nucleus of the atom, so the atomic radius thus
decreases.
The periodic trend for ionizations energy can be defined as the energy used to remove electrons from a
neutral atom (gaseous or ion) and is deemed the opposite of electronegativity. Low ionization energy
would be energy that is more likely to become a cation. The trend decreases from right to left, as the
right side s valence shells would almost be fully occupied and thus meaning higher ionization energy.
Now the left ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the electronegativity values for all elements is sometimes seen on some periodic tables.
Electronegativity increases from left to right because the elements will have a less filled valence shell,
which means less energy is used to lose an electron rather than trying to gain one. While if the valence
shell is more full, it would be the opposite, so it would be easier to gain electrons than lose some.
From top to bottom, the electronegativity would decrease because down the group, there is more
distance between the valence electrons and

Women s Rights Of Women
Makenzie Holman
Research Brief
In the early 1900s, it was very uncommon for women to have access to contraceptives or health
education. Then one day, a doctor and a nurse tended to a women at home who was suffering from
having an abortion. Just like many women in the U.S. at this time, she was wanting to learn how to
prevent pregnancies so she did not have to have any more abortions. As the doctor and nurse left this
woman s house, the women begged the doctor to teach her how she could prevent her own
pregnancies. To the nurses disbelief the doctor would not give the woman one once of information.
This is the moment where health education would change forever. This moment released the
beginning of the fight to make contraceptives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since violating the law was a crime that would lead to jail, Sanger fled to Europe to learn how other
countries dealt with pregnancy and contraceptives. Sanger noticed that it was unfair to lower income
families that they were uneducated about health education and always had to have abortions, where a
lot of the time women would die, compared to higher income families that had more access to this
education and they could prevent pregnancies. After many attempts of providing information to the
public and getting in trouble with the law, Sanger decided to have a new conservative approach to the
public. She was getting aggravated that laws were not being passed, so she created the National
Committee on Federal Legislation for Birth Control (NCFL). Birth control could be prescribed by
doctors at this time, but because of the Comstock laws many doctors did not like sharing this
information. This is why Sanger created the NCFL, so she could get more attention to legislators that
would then create an amendment that would allow doctors to share this crucial health information with
the public. After years and years of birth control propaganda and social reform, Sanger finally saw the
day where the Comstock law was dropped in the 1965 Supreme Court Case in Griswold v.
Connecticut. The court finally ruled that it was a constitutional right have a private use of
contraceptives. Sanger also provided the start of researching the

A Long Walk To Water Analysis
One important factor in A Long Walk to Water that helps Salva survive is his motivation from the loss
of his family/friends. After Salva loses Uncle and Mariel, Salva continues as a stronger and more self
dependent man. As it states in A Long Walk to Water, Mariel and Uncle were no longer by his side,
and they never would be again, but Salva knew that both of them would have wanted him to survive,
to finish the trip and reach the Itang refugee camp safely. I was almost as if they had left their strenge
with him, to help him on the journey....But there was no doubt: Beneath his terrible sadness, he felt
stronger (Park, 65). This proves that the death of Uncle and Mariel strengthen Salva and motivated
him to keep going. If Uncle and Mariel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, surviving the Gilo River, the crocodiles, and the rebel s shooting was tremendously
lucky. If Salva did not have this luck then he would long be gone already. Furthermore, Slava meeting
the old Dinka woman and being able to receive help from her was also extremely lucky. As it states in
a Long Walk To Water, The old woman gave Salva a bag of peanuts and a gourd for drinking water
(Park, 22). This shows that Salva meeting the old woman is a miracle because he got housing for a
few days and food and a gourd for water. This may not seem that important however when Salva was
crossing the Akobo desert if Salva didn t have the old woman s gourd to hold water he could have died
of dehydration.
A second theme in A Long Walk to Water that helps Salva survive is family being the most important
resource. This relates to Slava s survival because Salva depends on his Uncle for food, water, and
protection. Like it states in A Long Walk to Water, Now that Salva was without Uncle s care and
protection, the group attitude toward him changed.... No one shared anything with him, neither food
nor company. Uncle had always shared the animals and birds he shot with everyone in the group
(Park, 65 66). This shows that Salva relied on Uncle for most of what he needed to survive and as
verbalized before Salva uses Uncle like an asset for survival. So without Uncle, Salva may have not
survive at all because Uncle was the one who provided most of

From Mrs. Sen s Assimilation To Western Standards
While most of the stories show how assimilated to western standards can be difficult, Mrs. Sen s is the
most important out of the stories because Mrs. Sen s is reluctant to settle in America, and upholds the
traditions of her life back in Calcutta. When Mrs. Sen came to America, she was astonished by the
lack of care given by everyone else. She asked Elliot that if she began to scream at the top of her
lungs. Would someone come? (6). All she had to do back in India was raise your voice a bit, or
express grief or joy of any kind, and one whole neighborhood and half of another [would] come to
share the news . This shows how Mrs. Sen missed the fact that in India, she was upper class and in
America, she is treated like everyone else. Another

Anti-Terrorism Policy In Canada
Anti terrorism policy has become a more important legislative issue since the September 11th incident
in 2001. Prior to this event, North American countries felt the need to implement new policy that
would protect their citizens from criminal activity associated with acts of terror. In Canada, anti
terrorism policy consists of three main components identified in the literature: 1) The criminal code
and relevant violations; 2) Anti Terror Legislation; and 3) policy in practice. In this briefing note, all
three will be analyzed based on whether or not the current policy is sufficiently protecting Canadians
while ensuring that civil liberties are not being violated.

was a possibility that he could return to Canada instead of spending the remainder of his sentence in
Guantanamo Bay Prison. Canadian Government chose not to repatriate him based on his actions of
terror committed in Afghanistan. However, According to Augustine (2014), the Khadr case was unique
from any other involving terrorism for the three following reasons: First, Khadr was a child soldier
when he committed the crimes and that he should not be held fully accountable for his actions;
Second, Khadr s entire direct family was sensationalized based on the fact that they were an Al Qaeda
family . Third, Khadr was the only western national whose government did not intervene to ensure his
repatriation from Guantanamo Bay. Canadian Government should not have taken so long to repatriate
Khadr based on the fact that he was a child soldier at the time. They did not take into account the
mitigating factors that would have led him to take such action. When dealing with children,

Boy Scouts Needs
One of the major building blocks from my youth was my involvement with the Boy Scouts of
America, I became a club scout at the age of 7 years old and by my 14th birthday, I completed the

view this as my greatest achievement not for its complexity, but for its ability to teach me skills and
grant me the confidence to continue perusing other long term goals, such as completing high school,
college, and other personal goals. The Boy Scouts taught moral values such as trustworthily, loyalty,

He Was White, I Was Black Essay
Although I can articulate it better now, I knew when I was ten years old why Carrot Wilkins and I
would not always be as close as we were then. He was white, and I was black. I lived on the outskirts
of Winston Salem, North Carolina in a predominately black neighborhood. Carrot lived about a fifteen
minutes walk away in a largely white rural town called Walkertown. We met in the third grade on a
school bus that took us both to Thomas Cash Elementary School. Being country boys at heart, we
shared a lot of interests. We fished together a lot hunted squirrels, and played Robin Hood in the
woods that separated our neighborhoods. But like kittens and puppies, we were being raised with very
different perspectives of the world. And we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were smart, strong, handsome, and noble. And, until this incident, imagining that I was one of
them had given me the feeling that I could do just about anything.
I did come up with an answer to Carrot s Aqua Man. I decided I would be Magic Johnson. This, of
course, met with immediate protest because Magic Johnson was not a superhero. Carrot demanded
that I choose a real superhero. I decided I didn t want to play the game anymore, that I would never
play the game again. We both went home, angry. Carrot didn t understand why, after I had played the
game dozens of times with no problem, I had decided that I would never play again. And neither one
of us understood why the people who created the superheroes made them all white. The only thing I
knew was that Carrot would be able to continue pretending he was a superhero, but I never could
again.
Today, I am able to articulate the difference I perceived between myself and Carrot. That difference
was based on the luxury of unlimited aspirations. This luxury allows a white child in America to
believe that this is his land. And in his land he is taught that limitations are set only by his own work
ethic. If he gives life his best shot, the system that distributes the spoils of life will reward him. This is
called the American Dream.
Black children are allowed the luxury of unlimited aspirations for a brief period in

The Cultural Atmosphere Of South Africa
Moving on from the previous notion that legal systems impact our perceptions as a collective, Elisa
Longinett s study of those living with HIV in South Africa examines the risk of volatile reactions
found after sexual disclosure to their partners. What was found that the biggest indicator whether one
would face volatile reactions were based upon their sex and their level of income: males with money
were less at risk than males without, and males without high income were less likely than females
without high income, there were little to no females to report in the study who had high income.
Longinett continues to state that this is due to the cultural atmosphere of South Africa was overtly
focussed upon one s sex and their economic status. It is not to say that these are not important modes
of judgement within Canada, but that individual people s reactions were more visible through their
vocal dislike of someone or facial expressions based on these two factors. It is also important to note
that she and her colleagues found this was evident of the mixed legal system in place inherited from
British and Dutch origins. What this means for us in Canada is that, while we may not be as overtly
homophobic as other cultures are, our legal system also has a part to play in how we interact with
others.
The fact that our legal system says that a person living with HIV could be charged as a criminal will
cause an obvious social trend to occur: people are going to treat them like

Ender Vs Valentine
Ender s Game Compare and Contrast Essay All of the following characters have a huge impact on the
book Ender s Game: Ender/Andrew, Valentine, Peter, and Bean. Ender is the main character who is
clever, sensitive, belligerent, and hegemonic. Whereas Valentine is clever sensitive, and hegemonic.
She is definitely not belligerent. Unlike Valentine, Bean, as well as Peter, can be very belligerent,
especially Peter. Although Bean is not very hegemonic. Peter is not the sensitive type, he would much
rather hide the love he has for Ender. Although these characters are extremely different, they are still
connected through their different emotions that impact each other s lives. Clever is one trait that

Analysis Of Pablo Neruda
In most cases, texts that are translated lose meaning, as sometimes words from a native language
cannot be translated exactly into a desired language, or they lose context. World literature translations
also lead to the dangers of a single story where you only get to read one side of the story (the one of
the author) without having a perspective of the natives about the story that was written. To understand,
how language is used in world literature, and how text translations change our understanding and
meaning of the text, we need to be able to understand the culture, have historical understanding of the
time the literary work was written, and factors that might affect society in which the author had
written. When one wants to study world literature, they need to consider that translations of the text
smooths out not only linguistics richness but also the original and political force a work can have in its
original context. World literature needs to be studied with close attention to the original language and
context, including works that have new meaning and take new dimensions abroad. There is a shift that
unfolds on the internal logic of the work itself, but often come as complex dynamic of cultural change
and contestation. For a work to be considered a valuable piece in world literature it must be read first
as literature, and secondly circulate into a broader world beyond linguistic and cultural point of
origins. Pablo Neruda s poems are post colonial responses to

The Battle Of Lexington And Concord
By the rude bridge that arched the flood, their flag to April s breeze unfurled, here once the embattled
farmers stood, and fired the shot heard round the world... primary source Ralph Waldo Emerson s
poem Concord Hymn was written about the Battle of Lexington and Concord. Although this poem is
not a good answer on who shot first during this battle, it does open the idea about the battle itself and
makes you think who shot first. I believe that the Americans shot first at this Battle.
What happened at the Battle of Lexington and Concord? Though it has been called a battle, it was
more of a skirmish. It happened on April 19th the year 1775 in Middlesex Country, province of
Massachusetts Bay during the American Revolution. The British were marching to Concord because
of the arms depot of the Americans. The Americans were out numbered, out gunned, and not as well
trained at the British soldiers. On the side of the road there were 40 to 100 speculators of this event.
When the British arrived one of the officers rode forward waving his sword and called out to the
militia to disperse and go home, as well as telling them Lay down your arms, you damned rebels! But
the Americans did not lay down their arms so the British commander Major John Pitcairn told his men
to hold fire as did the Americans leader, Captain John Parker, who was a veteran from the French and
Indian War (1754 1763). But, a shot was fired from an unknown source. By the end of the fight eight
militia men lay

Analysis Of Minimalism
Minimalism: A Documentary about important things follows the journey of two novelists, Joshua
Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus, determined to help people escape the crippling disease in
society, consumerism. The idea of minimalism is to narrow down the material items one bring into
their life to better your ability to realize what is truly important to you and what makes you happy. The
documentary explores the human tendency to become dissatisfied with everything in our lives and
expresses that by living a life based less on the things we have we will be able to better appreciate
everything surrounding us. We allow the evolving consumer market to influence the way we live to
the point where we start to base our self worth of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This lack of connection between the clips and what the documentary is addressing causes viewers to
become less engaged in the visual aspects of the documentary and will eventually become
disinterested with the documentary altogether. A declining enthusiasm for the documentary causes the
purpose, message, and essentially the entirety of the documentary to become less impactful. The title
of this documentary is Minimalism: A Documentary about the Important Things, but the film itself is
not very minimalistic, nor does it focus solely on the important ideas of minimalism. The documentary
is filled with multiple people s different stories of their journey to minimalism and many different
points of view making it quite cluttered . The film should, ideally, take on the idea of minimalism
through the footage, and the number of interviews they had. By having less opinions shared in the film
it would allow the viewer to make a stronger connection to each of the individuals they hear to making
the argument easier to follow and understand. The camera angles, frames, and scenes in the
documentary are too varied. Minimalism is about focusing solely on the important things in your life,
and the creator of this documentary should focus entirely on the important aspects of minimalism in
every aspect of the film. The film Minimalism focuses on the concept of breaking past society s

Covert Drone Program And Targeting Killings
Years preceding the terrorist attack on the 11th of September 2001, the CIA and the United States Air
Force had already developed the facility to use aerial vehicles, piloted remotely, as weapons. Yet, it
was the occurrence of 9/11 that sparked the use of armed remote piloted aerial vehicles (better known
as drones) in the global War of Terror led by the United States. The purpose of this position paper is to
examine the legality of the covert armed drone program, specifically in the Federally Administered
Tribal Areas (FATA) in Pakistan. It will consider the extent of accuracy of the legal frameworks
relative to the drone program and targeted killings. To do so, exploring the context in which the United
States justifies its actions and military strategies regarding the Global War on Terror is important. This
paper will be providing a review of, amongst other references, two pieces of academic literature that
discuss the presence of drone warfare in Pakistan: Mark Mazzetti s The Way of the Knife: The CIA, A
Secret Army, and a War at the Ends of the Earth and David Sanger s Confront and Conceal: Obama s
Secret Wars and Surprising Use of American Power. They will be used as evidence to support the
questionability of the legal frameworks relative to the armed drone conflict.
In The Way of the Knife, Mark Mazzetti discusses the new methods adopted by the United States
military action, referring to a phrase used by John Brennan, the former chief of counter terrorism
advisor:

Why Software Should Be Free By Richard Stallman
Vincent Jonany
Term Paper
INFO 450
06/06/15
In the paper Why Software Should Be Free written by Richard Stallman, he argued that developers
should develop free software. In the paper, Stallman justified his belief of the free software movement.
Stallman believes that free software can be defined with the four essential freedoms: the freedom to
run the program however the users like, the freedom to modify the source code so that it does different
computing, the freedom to distribute copies of the program, and the freedom to distribute the modified
copies to others. In his justifications of his stand on free software, he argues that people will still have
the initiative to develop software even though they know that it will be freely distributed. Hence,
Stallman believes that one of the main goals for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stallman first reminded the readers that institutions do not have to be software houses to be able to
pay programmers. Stallman then brought out his own experience of making a living for six years as a
free software developer. Stallman talked about his experience of him being hired from other
institutions to make improvements for free software. He explained that these institutions are able to
fund programmers by using the money from donations from computer manufacturers. Lastly, Stallman
justified that although free software developer realized that they are getting paid at least half of what
they could make elsewhere, they do this because they will be free from bureaucracy, and they feel
good about themselves. They feel good about themselves because they know their works are for the
greater good for humanity. Hence, Stallman once again confirmed that we do not have to worry that
no one will program, since programming is the most fascinating of all fields according to

Why Does Jane Austen Use Of The Gothic
Explore How Austen Makes Use of the Gothic in the Novel
Throughout Northanger Abbey Jane Austen uses gothic horror to describe main events that highly
influence the outcome of the novel. The book bases its whole plot around gothic horror but it s not
really a gothic horror but more of parody of a gothic horror.
At the very start of the book (pages 3 4) Austen introduces the character of Catherine. She uses
stereotypical characteristics from a normal Gothic Horror novel to somewhat tell the reader that
Catherine is remarkably none of these things. As the reader this tells you Austen portrays her as a plain
and unaccountable character with a very unremarkable life, not that of stereotypical heroine from a
gothic horror novel. She tells ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Upon reaching Northanger Abbey (chapter 21) Catherine is led to a separate chamber in the house
very unlike the one Henry had endeavoured to alarm her by the description of this shows Austen isn t
writing a typical gothic horror story when she describes Catherin s apartment as altogether far from
uncheerful compared to Tilney s description with gloomy passages.
Whilst at Northanger Catherine discovers a high old fashioned black cabinet within her room a
rousing curiosity rouses within her and she investigates the contents of it. This is Austen once again
using the plot of something from within your average gothic horror story to manipulate Catherine s
imagination. As she reads so many gothic horror novels this is her mind linking real life to fantasy
once again and imagining strange looking items that may be in one of her books to items of furniture
in her apartment. This tells the reader Austen is mocking gothic horror and how readers base their
whole lives around these books and how they seem to take over your

Nightmare I wants migrants to imagine a live of people being afraid of you because the script says
people will associate an immigrant with violence. The second nightmare highlights the injustice,
extreme hardships, discrimination and racism that migrants experience. (Orgad, 2012) The migrants
create this script and its purpose is to show what life will actually be like. However, this second
nightmare has a hard time finding the light of media representations as it often gets misconstrued.
Orgad demonstrates this by saying, in today s environment of media representations, the lines between
the factual and the fictional increasingly blur. (Orgad, 2012) When looking beyond dreams and
nightmares, Orgad finds that immigrants are ambivalent and their imagination is incomplete. This
imagination is governed by uncertainty and confusion, a mix of hope and anxiety, desire for a better,
but unknown, future, and grief of over the loss of soon to become former lives. (Orgad, 2012)
Essentially, the fear of migration is real, as it is impossible to know where you will fall. Through a
growing amount of globalization, we again see representation grow. As they grow more people are
able to imagine. In this case, the more representations of a

brown and green represent Jack s mask. Golding uses the mask to represent savagery and human

Me personally, as a practice manager I am more inclined to refer to a

Sir Isaac Newton Research Paper
Sir Isaac Newton was born on January 4, 1643, in Woolsthorpe, England. He grew up in this town
being primarily raised by his grandmother, because his father died when he was young, and his mother
left him for nine years when she moved in with her second husband. Growing up attended King s
school and didn t have any real hobbies outside of that. He hated farming, and it was soon decided that
he wouldn t be continuing in that field as his mother wished originally. He was never married and had
no children. He wasn t extraordinarily close to his family, as he stayed much of the time, so his family
life was lacking (Biography 1). Isaac Newton died March 20, 1727 in London, England. Isaac Newton

Are Children Valued In The Past
Humans have always lived in social groups because of the necessities of each other. One point I found
interesting in this article was how children were valued and taken care of in the past. The reason why
children were highly valued in the past was because there were more caregivers available for each
child. This was due to the fact that people lived in multicultural and social groups focusing less on the
significance of personal space and privacy. All these individuals play a vital role in the child s
advancement and safety. Based on the article, a child under the age of six has roughly 4 to 5 caregivers
which are more than society has in this modern generation. Another point that fascinates me was how
having a logical interaction plays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hailey s biological mother whom she had spent 2 months of her life was alcoholic and abusive. Since
Hailey suffered abuse at an early, she did not act like a normal child. She was adopted by foster

stare into space. Her way of eating implied that she wasn t fed properly because she eats like there is

Due to the months, she was neglected as a child, Hailey had developmental problems. Proper care and
healthy relationships help children who experience traumatic events in their early year s heal. Systems

The Way Of Wealth By Benjamin Franklin
Benjamin Franklin is considered one of the most realistic and wisest men in the history of America.
He is known for his stand on the necessity for the individual to work hard and to be frugal in order to
reach success. In the presented essay, The Way to Wealth , he makes mention of various aphorisms
and pieces of advice which express his views and opinions about morals, ethics, life, taxes, debts, etc.
Among those pieces of advice that he offers his audience, we find the phrase employ thy time well if
thou meanest to gain leisure; and, since thou art not sure of a minute, throw not away an hour.
Although much of his work is devoted to the importance of industry and of frugality, here Franklin
discusses the difference between being lazy and having leisure. He places emphasis on how without
working hard and in a conscious way, the individual will never be able to have time for pastimes or
leisure. Instead of viewing laziness and fun as the ultimate goal an individual must aim for, Franklin
advices about using the time in a profitable way. To him, labor brings more comfort than idleness or
laziness, as when the individual is idle or bored, he manages to commit mischief. Moreover, it is his
belief that one cannot just be in a useless position the whole time, lest poverty and necessity strike.
Therefore, Franklin argues, it is important to find useful things to do with one s time, but things that
bring enjoyment, in order for one to work hard at them. Once the

Anterograde Amnesia Case Study
Amnesia is common recognized psychological problem in daily life and according to Talmi, Caplan,
Richards, and Moscovitch (2015), amnesia is usually thought as abilities loss in long term memory
regardless of intact of short term memory. In other words, some people suffer from the amnesia related
with the impairment of short term memory and the others suffer from the amnesia related with the
impairment of long term memory. Those amnesias can happen not only by physical wound, but also
psychological trauma. For example, A 34 year old man without past history of any psychiatric or
neurological disorder developed severe anterograde amnesia following a psychological trauma
(KUMAR, RAO, SUNNY, GANGADHAR, 2007). When it comes to sorts of amnesias, ... Show more

This mental illness has a distinct point. The distinct point of anterograde amnesia is that it is possible
to list memories that the patients can remember based on a specific point in time. In other words, only
memory that had been acquired before hippocampus was damaged is remained. Leonarde cannot
remember the memory formed after his head is hit by robber. Every acquirable memory in everyday
life is not applicable to him. He cannot remember all about incidents because memories formed just a
few minutes before is cut off and get out of from his brain. Therefore, he doesn t have any cause and
effect thought process in recent incident and has absent recognition of time and space. This is because
his head is no longer working for memories preservation. In regard to cause of anterograde amnesia,
the reason of anterograde amnesia is due to problem in hippocampal system and that evidence can be
found in many psychological journals. Saunder (1997) maintained that most of reasons in anterograde
amnesia are due to damaged hippocampus system and damage in hippocampal system can cause loses
of episodic information. AKYILDIZ et al. (2015) also mentioned that there is intensity variation in
hippocampus, when patient cannot accumulate new, recent memory. That is, the cause of anterograde
amnesia correlate with the impairment of hippocampal system. Those impairments can occur in
various reason: physical impact, psychological shock, overdose of drug, and so on. Anterograde
amnesia influences gives fatal influence in patient s lifestyle for lifelong. However, Duff et al. (2008)
provided one case of one woman named Angie, and she showed improvement of mental process and
perception ability. Her special case is give possibility to the patients of anterograde amnesia: patient

Author of A Rose for Emily, William Faulkner s Nobel Prize...
All I have to say about A Rose for Emily is that she was a crazy person! Faulkner is a really worthy
and famous writer that has a lot to say in his writings and I think that he accomplishes that when he
writes. On December 10, he delivered his acceptance speech to the academy in a voice so low and
rapid that few could make out what he was saying, but when his words were published in the
newspaper the following day, it was recognized for its brilliance; in later years, Faulkner s speech
would be lauded as the best speech ever given at a Nobel ceremony. (Padgett) When William Faulkner
gave his Nobel Acceptance Speech he had a quote in there and I think that he helped man endure by

There were a lot of different emotions that were represented in this selection, but Faulkner didn t tell
us that the characters were angry he used details to show us people s emotions. Try to be better than
yourself. An artist is a creature driven by demons. He doesn t know why they choose him and he s
usually too busy to wonder why. He is completely amoral in that he will rob, borrow, beg, or steal
from anybody and everybody to get the work done. (Faulkner/Stein) When he talks he uses a lot of
emotion and that shows his style of writing. William Faulkner gave a Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech
and in it he wrote about A Rose for Emily he gives himself challenges when he writes and one of the
challenges is pity and sacrifice which has been the glory of the past. When he writes he is saying that
the people who have had pity thrown upon them and the people who have made their sacrifices are the
only ones who get the glory. The human drama in Faulkner s novels is then built on the model of the
actual, historical drama extending over almost a century and a half. (Faulkner) In A Rose for Emily

A Small Place Analysis
Jamaica Kincaid s novel A Small Place is a fictional novel about her life growing up on an island that
has been imperialised by the British. Jamaica Kincaid shows acrimony to the colonization of her
country, towards the corrupt government that has stunted the growth of her country, towards the white
people that took Antigua in their hands and molded it into something embryonic. The dictionary
defines third world as the underdeveloped nations of the world, especially those with widespread
poverty, with this description, Antigua will be classified as a third world country after achieving their
independence from the British. A Small Place reveals that post colonial Antigua is still pinned by a
form of slavery through the nation s poor economy, government corruption, and the impoverished
Antiguans. The poor economy and corrupt government are hand in hand to help create the
impoverished Antiguans.
The corrupt government of Antigua restricts their citizens ability to buy specific goods, like cars, in
order to benefit the people working in the government, banks are encouraged by the government to
make loans available for cars, but loans for houses not so easily available; and if you ask again why,
you will be told that the two main car dealerships in Antigua are owned in part or outright by ministers
in government (Kincaid 7). The government forces the banks to make it easier for the purchase of cars
that are partly owned by the ministers of the Antiguan government so they

Fluoride Conspiracy By Laurie Higgs
Fluoride has been used by people for many decades. The most common use is in toothpaste. Fluoride
was added to toothpaste to lower the amount of dental cavities that one gets, and works by protecting
the enamel (outer hard layer over the tooth). Another use of fluoride is in drinking water. It was added
to drinking water to also help with tooth decay. Many people are debating whether or not this is truly
safe. In the essay, The Fluoride Conspiracy , by Laurie Higgs, she talks about the use of fluoride
drinking waters and dangers it brings by using logos, pathos, and ethos. Higgs explains in her essay
that the use of fluoride has been used in water for some time now and that it is used to help prevent
tooth decay as stated in her citations. She further explains that when brushing ones teeth and swallows
an x amount of toothpaste that that one should called poison control, so why would one be able to
drink it? About sixty percent of homes contain fluoride added water and an average person is suppose
to drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water each day, while the amount of fluoride in each glass contains
more than twice the amount (to be consumed) of fluoride allowed in toothpaste (Higgs par.2), and if

is when the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. The essay says that
hypothyroidism can lead to depression, fatigue, weight gain, muscle and joint pains, increased
cholesterol levels and heart disease (as qtd. in Higgs par.5). The author uses human health and the
problems that can arise from drinking water with fluoride to evoke the readers

Network Security And The Network
Abstract
Network security is a broad term used to refer to processes and procedures that are configured by a
company s network administrator to provide visibility and prevent denial of service, unauthorized
access, modification and exploitation of the corporate network or respective resources. The resources
refer to files or computer programs available on the corporate network infrastructure. The
infrastructure comprise of corporate software and hardware resources that facilitate communication,
connectivity, management and operations within the corporate network. (Vacca, 2014)
This infrastructure thus provides a communication path between applications, users, services,
processes and external networks like the internet. Typically, a ... Show more content on

The network security manager can equally use intrusion detection systems and anti virus software to
prevent unauthorized access and blocking harmful viruses and malware from entering a network
respectively. This paper however, does not focus on these approaches but primarily focuses on how
firewalls enhance network security. A firewall is a security technology designed to avoid unauthorized
access to or from a private network. Firewalls can be placed in both hardware and software, or can
also be placed in both hardware and software. Firewalls are usually used to prevent unauthorized
access on a network. All messages entering or leaving the network go through a firewall, the firewall
analyses all the messages and then blocks the messages that do not meet the security standards. The
administrator sets the security standards which packets need to meet, he/she will decide which packet
is suitable to pass through the firewall. (Webopedia.com, 2017), (Services, 2017). Once an
administrator has set up a policy, it then needs to be tested to determine if the firewall has been
correctly implemented.
Introduction
Network security has become a major concern in the computing industry, including organizations,
personal users and the military. The reason for this is due to the large number of security threats that
occur on a daily basis. The internet architecture itself allows many threats to

What Is The Message Of Cyrano De Bergerac
There are not many movies that have been produced that consider the nature of beauty and inner self,
while still having an emotive storyline, the film Cyrano de Bergerac is one of them. The tangled
relationships of Roxane, Cyrano and Christian, along with many minor characters of the film, explore
what is most important and what truly prevails in love. Even though at the end of the film you are left
with a melancholy feeling brought up by the fact that the main characters quite literally lose
everything, you still find that it has given the viewer a message. A message saying that you will not
get what you want if you don t try or if you stay quiet, even if you are rejected at least you tried.
The message of the film is truly embodied by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knowing now, that if he expresses his love he is surely to be rejected, he does not speak a word. When
Christian comes to him wanting to write poetry, Cyrano comes up with the plan that he will write the
letters for Christian. He does not mean this as a ruse but as a way of expressing his love for Roxane.
Roxane eventually falls in love with the writer, while believing it to be Christian still, yet any chance
of a relationship between the two fails because of Christian s untimely bereavement. We ultimately see
that neither Roxane nor Cyrano achieve love.
Love is represented as the most important value, above life, in this film and we see this through
Roxane and Cyrano s relationship, Cyrano loved Roxane more than his life. He even went to see her
when he knew he was going to die soon. He didn t think of the consequences and his love prevailed
because he wanted to see her just one more time, because he made her a promise. Also, their
relationship gives us an indication into the true nature of beauty and inner self, when it shows us that
there are two kinds of beauty, inner and outer, yet the latter is more important because it shows us a
person s soul.
The film also indicates ideas of false and misguided love, as seen by the characters of Roxane and
Christian, who believe that they are in love with each other but are in fact in love with other people.
Roxane first falls in love with Christian for

make everyone realize that obscenity doesn t really comes from nude pictures or scandals, obscenity is
based upon the persons perspective. Remember that countries and the people living there have their
own different perspective, in our country, the Philippines, people here are conservative unlike in
America, people there are known to be liberated. That s why I would like to recommend the law

this is one of the movies where Religions and the law agrees in one issue and it is the issue that have

Analysis Of A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night Essay
The film A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night , director Ana Lily Amirpour, is a mixture of genres such
as the Spaghetti Western, the teenage romance, and the vampire genre. The clash of genres in this film
brings out the idea of hybridity and duality, with the sounds and cinematography creating a sense of
ambiguity, or the in between . The underlying mix brings out a sense of horror for the overall feel of
the film as it leaves audiences with a sense of fear and realisation that not everything is as it seems.
The spaghetti western genre is a part of the mix of genres which provide the film with its theme of
duality and hybridity, and Amirpour has chosen to feed this genre through with the character of the
girl. Typical of the spaghetti western genre, the character is nameless. Audiences do not have the
privilege of finding out her name, and in the title she is referred to as A Girl . This feel of uncertainty
is heightened with a sense of fear when the only information we are presented about her is when she
tells Arash that she has done bad things . She is representative of the spaghetti western hero in her
characteristics and actions. Untiedt, upon analysing the fictional western hero, states that the first
defining characteristic of the western hero is isolation (7). Here the Girl is always seen to be walking
alone, she has no companions, and lives by herself. Dualism is brought out within the character, as the
western hero has a desire to explore without settling (7).

The Medicine Bag Short Story Analysis
Many people have grandparents. Some passed and some alive, but for most, at least once in their
lifetime their grandparents or parents have embarrassed them in public. They might say exceptionally
loud that you have a cute girl on your phone or they just have a funny appearance in the society they
are in. In Virginia Sneve s short story, The Medicine Bag, the main protagonist Martin has a Sioux
Native American Grandpa who comes from a culture that is a lot different than the modern world.
Martin s Grandpa wears different clothes, looks different, acts different from the community, and
overall just stands out. Given these circumstances, Martin is embarrassed for his Grandpa and himself.
As the story continues on the most dynamic character in this short story would still have to be Martin.
The reason why Martin is not only the main protagonist, but is also the most dynamic, is because
throughout the story he pushed the truth about his culture from his life, was embarrassed by his
Grandfather s presentation, and didn t know the history of an important symbol of his heritage. Once
he finally experiences an important scene with his Grandpa and has the talk about the past, Martin
changes into a person that respects his culture, isn t embarrassed by his Grandpa, and also learns more
about the symbol of his heritage that put Martin on a path to manhood.
One of the Aspects that changes about Martin throughout the story to make him the most dynamic
character is his respect towards

Slavery In The Antebellum American South
Race as a social construct, a pseudo biological concept, and an identifying demographic has
undeniably been ubiquitous in the history of human otherness. In particular, the ascribing of racial
identities to a group, or racialization , has played a vital role in the conception and development of
minority groups. This phenomenon continues to shape ideas about race and ethnicity, albeit in less
dramatic ways than in the antebellum South. Nevertheless, people blinded by privilege claim that they
are colorblind or that society has moved into a post racial paradigm. It is, therefore, especially relevant
to examine processes of racialization that have defined and maintained the social concept of race
throughout history. A prominent historical instance of racialization that influenced modern day race
identity is the objectification and commoditization of black people in Southern slave markets of the
antebellum era. As a consequence of the chattel principle, which defined a slave s existence as
property of a slaveholder, Black Americans identities were permanently altered by those who used
their positions of power to subjugate and dehumanize them, either deliberately or tacitly. Specifically
through association between race and physical or mental ability, and false medicalization of issues in
slave populations, slave traders, slaveholders, and others who endorsed chattel slavery perpetuated the
racialization of black slaves. Slavery in the antebellum American South was

Investigating The Coefficient Of Thermal Conductivity For...
Lab Report
Module Name: Mechanical Principles (ENGD1005)
Experiment Name: Thermal Conductivity
Student P number: P14177341
Lab Tutor : Dr Rick Greenough
Date: 26/11/2014
Objectives of the experiment:
The objective of the experiment was to measure and determine the coefficient of thermal conductivity
for copper and stainless steel.
Background:
Thermal conduction is the transfer of heat energy in a material due to the temperature gradient. It
always takes place from a region of high temperature to a region of low temperature. Heat transfers at
a higher rate across materials that have high thermal conductivity than across materials with low
thermal conductivity. Thermal conductivity is temperature dependant.
Apparatus:
Thermocouple potentiometer
Cussons thermal conductivity apparatus.
Measuring beaker
Procedure:
Firstly before the experiment begins ensure the apparatus has been set up correctly, i.e checking if all
dials are in their correct position. After the apparatus has been set up, what should be done is the
temperatures of the cold water in and hot water out should be noted down, this is done by reading the
temperature gauges on the cussons thermal conductivity apparatus . After temperature of cold water in
and hot water out has been noted you can move onto using the Thermocouple potentiometer to find
the temperature of the water as it is heated through the metals and out of the metals. This can be done
by putting the

Multimarket contact involves firms simultaneous competition against one another in multiple product
and/or geographical markets (Haveman and Nonnemaker, 2000; Korn and Baum, 1999) or in

markets (Fuentelsaz and Gómez, 2006; Greve, 2000) and sales growth (Greve, 2008) rather than
exploration in immature markets. In fact, external environments may affect the evolution and
dynamics of rival markets. Each competitor s market may rely on upstream, downstream, and

Here, alliance diversification, which is analogous to corporate diversification, is defined as a blurring
of diverse alliance boundaries to combine various types of alliances, including intra industry alliances,
such as vertical upstream and downstream alliances in the industry value chain; horizontal alliances
within an industry (Rindfleisch and Moorman, 2001); and intra industry exploration, exploitation, and
ambidextrous alliances. This article also examines cross industry alliances that are formed through
cooperation with partners in other related and/or unrelated industries (Mayrhofer, 2004); cross
industry exploration, exploitation, and ambidextrous alliances; and hybrid alliances (e.g., intra
industry and cross industry alliance portfolios). From ambidexterity and legitimacy perspectives as
well as mutant based innovation, this article presents four types of alliance diversification
ambidextrous alliance portfolios, sequential ambidextrous alliances, mutant alliances, and mutant
alliance portfolios to examine how followers move into diverse multimarket ecosystems for
innovation and value creation (Lansiti and Levien, 2004) and from cross industry alliances to intra

The Norman Conquest By Marc Morris, The Narrative Of The...
The Norman Conquest by Marc Morris is a narrative of the Norman invasion of 1066. Since the
events happened so long ago, there are many incomplete accounts of the events. Even these
incomplete accounts are usually heavily biased. As such, it is a difficult undertaking for a historian to
construct a cohesive summary of the period. Nevertheless, Marc Morris attempted the task, and did an
admirable job. It is written as a narrative, but has enough detail to satisfy a student of history. Morris
begins by exploring the history of one of the few sources that remain of the Norman invasion, the
Bayeux tapestry. The tapestry has had a long history of trading hands and escaping harm seemingly
miraculously. According to Morris, the Bayeux tapestry has survived looting in the French Revolution,
was owned by Napoleon Bonaparte for a time, and was stolen by Nazis during their occupation of
France in World War II. Aside from its own fascinating history, the tapestry itself is not a flawless
source. Morris points out that it is in fact incomplete, as it abruptly stops at Harold Godwinson s
death. It was also in part copied from older accounts of the invasion and therefore is not a primary
source. It is also non committal in its portrayal of events and the captions are for the most part
willfully obscure or ambiguous (p. 4). In other words, it seems intended more to be a narrative than as
a factual historical record. Exact dates are often not given for important events, such as the

Internal And Internal Conflict In The Tell Tale Heart And...
In both the stories The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe and The Hand written by Guy de
Maupassant, have many internal and external conflicts around the narrator. An internal conflict is a
struggle that takes place in one s mind, or this is when you are having a war inside of you with your
self. External conflicts are when one is in dispute with another man, nature, or the environment around
them. Here are a few examples from each of the stories. In the short story The Tell Tale Heart , the
narrator is annoyed by an elderly man s eye, or the vulture eye. In the book it describes the eye as a
pale blue eye with a film over it . The narrator wants to get rid of the eye, so he decides that he will
need to kill the old man. Here we find our first internal conflict. The narrator says that he loves the
man, but hates his haunting eye, thus he wants to kill him. When it s night and he stalks the old man
who is in sleep, the narrator feels bad about having to kill him when he can t see the eye, but the
moment that he does he has an impulse to kill him. This quote here shows exactly that, It is impossible
to say how first the idea entered my brain; but once conceived... Object there was none. Passion there
was none. I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult. For his gold
I had no desire. I think it was his eye! yes, it was this! He had the eye of a vulture a pale blue eye, with
a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so ... I made up my mind to take the
life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever. The second conflict I came across was,
when the narrator was stalking down the old man at night, while he was sleeping. While the old chap
was sleeping, his eye was closed, as a result the narrator didn t have the drive to kill him. He waited
seven long days till the old man finally stayed awake after the narrator made noise in the old man s
house. On this night, the murderous narrator killed the old man, because the eye was finally open. This
quote shows the external conflict of man versus time. I undid the lantern cautiously... I undid it just so
much that a single thin ray fell upon the vulture eye. And this I

Experimental Study About Rc Based Rfid Tracking System For...
Simulation enables researchers to construct models to understand and evaluate current systems and
alternatives for applying new processes or improving current processes in various areas (Greasley,
2004; Ingalls, 2008; Iqbal et al., 2012). The simulation method has been adopted in various industries
such as airline, port operation, banking, service, food and transportation (Robinson, 2004; Kotachi et
al., 2013). Although simulation raises quality concerns and does not provide absolute answers,
simulation is flexible to design simple and complex processes (Chung, 2003; Kotachi et al., 2013).
Researchers used different approaches to simulate returnable container (RC) models such as agent
approach, regression approach and discrete event simulation approach. Apparwal (2014) used agent
based system approach to study about RC based RFID tracking system for logistic services provider.
Kim et al. (2014) used regression simulation model to study about RC for perishable products under
stochastic return times.
 Discrete Event Simulation Model
This experimental study aims to execute model which displays RC system of a company in Thailand
by using discrete event simulation (DES) approach or next event technique. This approach is to
simulate and update the operation of components when a state change or event is due (Greasley, 2004;
Robinson, 2004; Pidd, 2004). For instance, considering close loop supply chain for RCs which pallets
are used to deliver products to customers and then

Taking a Closer Look at Vietnamese Culture Essay
The Vietnamese culture is one that is complex, from the years of war until today where the country, its
culture and economy is booming. Vietnam has had its ups and it downs, but the country s ability to
recover and rebuild is important and has played a significant part with where they stand today. Let s
get into the complex meaning of culture and then explore Vietnam and its culture. If you search the
word culture, there are various meanings that will arise. Culture is the total of the inherited ideas,
beliefs, values, and knowledge, which constitute the shared bases of social action (Dictionary.com
website). There are eight major characteristics of culture. This paper will elaborate on five of them

Language in a different form makes it possible for the newer generations to understand the
achievements and construction of the earlier culture. Earlier culture , means that there is no culture
that is unchanged. (Ajay Bhatt) Culture is an extremely dynamic element of life. Culture is always
changing and responding to the change of the physical world. It may be a slow constant change, but
realise that there is a change. Culture is responsiveness (Ajay Bhatt). The culture of Vietnam has every
one of these characteristics. Many cultures have common characteristics. Common characteristics of
culture include, land, government, food, clothing, religion and holidays. Even though not all cultures
share each one of these, multiple cultures do. Most countries sharing the religion of Christianity or the

Characters In Gary Faulsen s Hatchet By Gary Paulsen
Every novel has that brave, strong, character that never gives up. This type of character is always
looking out for others and being the best version of themselves that they can be. In the novel Hatchet
by Gary Paulsen the main character Brian Robeson has to be all of the above. He really can t let
himself down because no one else will be there to help him survive in the wilderness. Therefore,
because Brian is the alone in the wilderness he becomes committed, resourceful, and clever.
To begin, Brian is many different traits but the one I think he mostly is committed. An example of this
would be on page 51, where Gary Paulsen writes, He had to do something to help himself. I have to
get motivated, he thought, remembering Perpich. Right now i m all i ve got. I have to do something.
Brian is basically is being his own parents while he is surviving. This is showing that Brian is so
committed that he won t even think about letting himself give up or even think about that fact. Another
example of this would be on page 124 when Brian was talking about his living situation, The basic
idea had been good, the place for his shelter was right, but he hadn t gone far enough. Food was first,
but the work for the food went on and on. He had tried to take a short cut and pay for it with his turtle
eggs... Even though Brian does have a shelter to live in he still doesn t think that is good enough for
him, so he goes above and beyond to make his shelter the best it can be for him to

The Jungle Dbq
I aimed for the public s hearts, and by accident I hit it in the stomach. This quote was in response to
the reaction of Upton Sinclair s ground breaking exposé, The Jungle . On February 26, 1906 Sinclair
shocked the Nation by exposing the horrors of slaughter houses and meat packing plants. Thousands
of people have died from food borne illnesses. E coli, along with other diseases resulting from filthy
food processing was revealed as the murderer. As shocking as it might have been back then, it is even
more alarming to find out that conditions have not improved in the last one hundred nine years. Food
borne illnesses are still an extremely common occurrence. People should not have to worry about
whether their purchased food, food that was approved by the United States Department of Agriculture
(USDA), is safe to eat. Consumers shouldn t have to worry about tainted or dirty meat. Cleaner meat
packing facilities and stricter meat regulation on the part of the USDA should be a standard. Eating a
burger should not have to be a life or death situation. This is no fairy story and no joke; the meat will
be shoveled into carts and the man who did the shoveling will not trouble to lift out a rat even when he
saw one. (Sinclair The Jungle ). When it comes to having safe and approved food, our esteemed nation
does not have the greatest reputation. Ever since the use of slaughter houses and meat packing plants
began, people have been getting severely ill and even dying

Similarities Between Lottery And Popular Mechanics
Thesis: After we learnt Lottery and Popular Mechanics, two of my favorite short stories, I wrote these
paragraphs to figure out compare and contrast between them. Theme The author of the Lottery
believed that the fool who obey the ignorant tradition will kill themselves, through are afraid of death.
The author who wrote Popular Mechanics believed that the parents which seams love their child and
fight for custody were actually the murders who were hurting child. It sounds that the theme of those
two stories own totally different themes, but actually they still have some same point. Both Lottery
and Popular Mechanics believed ignorance can kill people and they had to respect others just like
ourselves. Source. At the same time both of them

English IV

Achilles
The movie Troy was a very interesting movie to learn more about how characters change. Achilles
was a man that changed throughout this movie. In the beginning of the movie, Achilles was a ruthless
man who only cared for himself. As the movie started to move along he began to change his mindset
on his life and caring for other people. Achilles changed from a greedy, stingy man to a caring,
unselfish man.
The movie starts out with Achilles in hometown, Greece. Greece is considered his normal world. This
effects him internally because.....He is asked to fight the great and mighty, Boagrius. Boagrius is a tall
man that was born to fight. Achilles shows up to fight him and kills ... Show more content on

Patroclus is in front of Hector and tries to fight him. As Hector slices his throat the crowd around them
became completely silent. Hector removes Patroclus helmet and Hector realizes that he wasn t
Achilles. This is Achilles dark moment when he is told that his cousin has been killed by Prince
Hector. Achilles is very angry when he hears the news and he decides that he wants to get revenge on
Prince Hector. Achilles rides in with his horse and chariot and he yells for Prince Hector outside the
city doors of Troy. Prince Hector comes down to fight and he falls against Achilles. Achilles attaches
Prince Hector to the back of his chariot and drags him across the beach. Prince Hector s father, Priam,
asks Achilles for his son s body back because he wanted a proper funeral for Prince Hector. This is
Achilles lightbulb moment. He realized that he did not show and sympathy towards the death of
Prince Hector so he decided to give back his body to his family. The Greeks make a wooden horse and
deliver it to the people of Troy. Little do the people of Troy know that the Greeks are actually hiding
in the horse. The Trojans bring in the horse because they thought it was a gifts from the Gods and the
Greeks hop out of the horse and start lighting the city of Troy on fire. Achilles is looking for his lover

  • 2. The Importance Of A Formal Diagnosis Of Bdd Data Collection The first step in my data collection will be to recruit participants. Because my study aspires to get to the lived experience of what it is like to live with BDD, I need to choose participants who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, this phenomenon. This will require I utilize criterion based sampling, meaning the population sample will have characteristics relevant to my research question (Creswell, 2012). Therefore, my task will be to find and select participants who will be chosen on the basis of a formal diagnosis of BDD, as confirmed through their diagnosing clinician. In order to do so, I will place advertisements on relevant social media sites, BDD Internet support group websites, as well as other fitting locations I discover during my process. Prior to placing said ads, I will be sure to obtain any necessary approval in order to adhere to ethical standards. Once the prospective participants express interest, I will electronically send an invitation to participate, which will include an introduction to the research, as well as consent and contact sheets. When participants agree to participate, paper copies will be mailed to them. After receipt of signed consent and contact forms, I will contact the clinicians designated on the consent forms in order to obtain a confirmation of the participants BDD diagnosis prior to beginning. In regard to sample size, I cannot predict the exact amount of participants I will need for my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ionic Trends The periodic trend for the atomic radius can be described as half the distance of the nuclei between the two atoms, and most of the elements are formed covalent molecules. The radius is mostly measured in picometers and the patterns can be observed through the periodic table and generally decreases from left to right. This occurs because all the electrons are added in the same shell but protons are added to the nucleus at the same time, which ends up making it more positive. What ends up happening is that the proton numbers added are greater than the electrons added, which creates a strong nuclear attraction, which greatly attracts the electrons as well. The electrons in the outside or formally called valence electrons are then pressed closer to the nucleus of the atom, so the atomic radius thus decreases. The periodic trend for ionizations energy can be defined as the energy used to remove electrons from a neutral atom (gaseous or ion) and is deemed the opposite of electronegativity. Low ionization energy would be energy that is more likely to become a cation. The trend decreases from right to left, as the right side s valence shells would almost be fully occupied and thus meaning higher ionization energy. Now the left ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, the electronegativity values for all elements is sometimes seen on some periodic tables. Electronegativity increases from left to right because the elements will have a less filled valence shell, which means less energy is used to lose an electron rather than trying to gain one. While if the valence shell is more full, it would be the opposite, so it would be easier to gain electrons than lose some. From top to bottom, the electronegativity would decrease because down the group, there is more distance between the valence electrons and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Women s Rights Of Women Makenzie Holman Research Brief In the early 1900s, it was very uncommon for women to have access to contraceptives or health education. Then one day, a doctor and a nurse tended to a women at home who was suffering from having an abortion. Just like many women in the U.S. at this time, she was wanting to learn how to prevent pregnancies so she did not have to have any more abortions. As the doctor and nurse left this woman s house, the women begged the doctor to teach her how she could prevent her own pregnancies. To the nurses disbelief the doctor would not give the woman one once of information. This is the moment where health education would change forever. This moment released the beginning of the fight to make contraceptives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since violating the law was a crime that would lead to jail, Sanger fled to Europe to learn how other countries dealt with pregnancy and contraceptives. Sanger noticed that it was unfair to lower income families that they were uneducated about health education and always had to have abortions, where a lot of the time women would die, compared to higher income families that had more access to this education and they could prevent pregnancies. After many attempts of providing information to the public and getting in trouble with the law, Sanger decided to have a new conservative approach to the public. She was getting aggravated that laws were not being passed, so she created the National Committee on Federal Legislation for Birth Control (NCFL). Birth control could be prescribed by doctors at this time, but because of the Comstock laws many doctors did not like sharing this information. This is why Sanger created the NCFL, so she could get more attention to legislators that would then create an amendment that would allow doctors to share this crucial health information with the public. After years and years of birth control propaganda and social reform, Sanger finally saw the day where the Comstock law was dropped in the 1965 Supreme Court Case in Griswold v. Connecticut. The court finally ruled that it was a constitutional right have a private use of contraceptives. Sanger also provided the start of researching the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Long Walk To Water Analysis One important factor in A Long Walk to Water that helps Salva survive is his motivation from the loss of his family/friends. After Salva loses Uncle and Mariel, Salva continues as a stronger and more self dependent man. As it states in A Long Walk to Water, Mariel and Uncle were no longer by his side, and they never would be again, but Salva knew that both of them would have wanted him to survive, to finish the trip and reach the Itang refugee camp safely. I was almost as if they had left their strenge with him, to help him on the journey....But there was no doubt: Beneath his terrible sadness, he felt stronger (Park, 65). This proves that the death of Uncle and Mariel strengthen Salva and motivated him to keep going. If Uncle and Mariel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, surviving the Gilo River, the crocodiles, and the rebel s shooting was tremendously lucky. If Salva did not have this luck then he would long be gone already. Furthermore, Slava meeting the old Dinka woman and being able to receive help from her was also extremely lucky. As it states in a Long Walk To Water, The old woman gave Salva a bag of peanuts and a gourd for drinking water (Park, 22). This shows that Salva meeting the old woman is a miracle because he got housing for a few days and food and a gourd for water. This may not seem that important however when Salva was crossing the Akobo desert if Salva didn t have the old woman s gourd to hold water he could have died of dehydration. A second theme in A Long Walk to Water that helps Salva survive is family being the most important resource. This relates to Slava s survival because Salva depends on his Uncle for food, water, and protection. Like it states in A Long Walk to Water, Now that Salva was without Uncle s care and protection, the group attitude toward him changed.... No one shared anything with him, neither food nor company. Uncle had always shared the animals and birds he shot with everyone in the group (Park, 65 66). This shows that Salva relied on Uncle for most of what he needed to survive and as verbalized before Salva uses Uncle like an asset for survival. So without Uncle, Salva may have not survive at all because Uncle was the one who provided most of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From Mrs. Sen s Assimilation To Western Standards While most of the stories show how assimilated to western standards can be difficult, Mrs. Sen s is the most important out of the stories because Mrs. Sen s is reluctant to settle in America, and upholds the traditions of her life back in Calcutta. When Mrs. Sen came to America, she was astonished by the lack of care given by everyone else. She asked Elliot that if she began to scream at the top of her lungs. Would someone come? (6). All she had to do back in India was raise your voice a bit, or express grief or joy of any kind, and one whole neighborhood and half of another [would] come to share the news . Prior to this event, North American countries felt the need to implement new policy that would protect their citizens from criminal activity associated with acts of terror. In Canada, anti terrorism policy consists of three main components identified in the literature: 1) The criminal code and relevant violations; 2) Anti Terror Legislation; and 3) policy in practice. In this briefing note, all three will be analyzed based on whether or not the current policy is sufficiently protecting Canadians while ensuring that civil liberties are not being violated. In his plea bargain, there was a possibility that he could return to Canada instead of spending the remainder of his sentence in Guantanamo Bay Prison. Canadian Government chose not to repatriate him based on his actions of terror committed in Afghanistan. However, According to Augustine (2014), the Khadr case was unique from any other involving terrorism for the three following reasons: First, Khadr was a child soldier when he committed the crimes and that he should not be held fully accountable for his actions; Second, Khadr s entire direct family was sensationalized based on the fact that they were an Al Qaeda family . Third, Khadr was the only western national whose government did not intervene to ensure his repatriation from Guantanamo Bay. Canadian Government should not have taken so long to repatriate Khadr based on the fact that he was a child soldier at the time. • 9. He Was White, I Was Black Essay Although I can articulate it better now, I knew when I was ten years old why Carrot Wilkins and I would not always be as close as we were then. He was white, and I was black. I lived on the outskirts of Winston Salem, North Carolina in a predominately black neighborhood. Carrot lived about a fifteen minutes walk away in a largely white rural town called Walkertown. We met in the third grade on a school bus that took us both to Thomas Cash Elementary School. Being country boys at heart, we shared a lot of interests. We fished together a lot hunted squirrels, and played Robin Hood in the woods that separated our neighborhoods. And, until this incident, imagining that I was one of them had given me the feeling that I could do just about anything. I did come up with an answer to Carrot s Aqua Man. I decided I would be Magic Johnson. This, of course, met with immediate protest because Magic Johnson was not a superhero. Carrot demanded that I choose a real superhero. I decided I didn t want to play the game anymore, that I would never play the game again. We both went home, angry. Carrot didn t understand why, after I had played the game dozens of times with no problem, I had decided that I would never play again. And neither one of us understood why the people who created the superheroes made them all white. The only thing I knew was that Carrot would be able to continue pretending he was a superhero, but I never could again. Today, I am able to articulate the difference I perceived between myself and Carrot. That difference was based on the luxury of unlimited aspirations. This luxury allows a white child in America to believe that this is his land. And in his land he is taught that limitations are set only by his own work ethic. If he gives life his best shot, the system that distributes the spoils of life will reward him. This is called the American Dream. • 11. The Cultural Atmosphere Of South Africa Moving on from the previous notion that legal systems impact our perceptions as a collective, Elisa Longinett s study of those living with HIV in South Africa examines the risk of volatile reactions found after sexual disclosure to their partners. What was found that the biggest indicator whether one would face volatile reactions were based upon their sex and their level of income: males with money were less at risk than males without, and males without high income were less likely than females without high income, there were little to no females to report in the study who had high income. Longinett continues to state that this is due to the cultural atmosphere of South Africa was overtly focussed upon one s sex and their economic status. It is not to say that these are not important modes of judgement within Canada, but that individual people s reactions were more visible through their vocal dislike of someone or facial expressions based on these two factors. It is also important to note that she and her colleagues found this was evident of the mixed legal system in place inherited from British and Dutch origins. What this means for us in Canada is that, while we may not be as overtly homophobic as other cultures are, our legal system also has a part to play in how we interact with others. The fact that our legal system says that a person living with HIV could be charged as a criminal will cause an obvious social trend to occur: people are going to treat them like ... • 13. Analysis Of Pablo Neruda In most cases, texts that are translated lose meaning, as sometimes words from a native language cannot be translated exactly into a desired language, or they lose context. World literature translations also lead to the dangers of a single story where you only get to read one side of the story (the one of the author) without having a perspective of the natives about the story that was written. To understand, how language is used in world literature, and how text translations change our understanding and meaning of the text, we need to be able to understand the culture, have historical understanding of the time the literary work was written, and factors that might affect society in which the author had written. When one wants to study world literature, they need to consider that translations of the text smooths out not only linguistics richness but also the original and political force a work can have in its original context. World literature needs to be studied with close attention to the original language and context, including works that have new meaning and take new dimensions abroad. There is a shift that unfolds on the internal logic of the work itself, but often come as complex dynamic of cultural change and contestation. For a work to be considered a valuable piece in world literature it must be read first as literature, and secondly circulate into a broader world beyond linguistic and cultural point of origins. The Battle Of Lexington And Concord By the rude bridge that arched the flood, their flag to April s breeze unfurled, here once the embattled farmers stood, and fired the shot heard round the world... primary source Ralph Waldo Emerson s poem Concord Hymn was written about the Battle of Lexington and Concord. Although this poem is not a good answer on who shot first during this battle, it does open the idea about the battle itself and makes you think who shot first. I believe that the Americans shot first at this Battle. What happened at the Battle of Lexington and Concord? Though it has been called a battle, it was more of a skirmish. It happened on April 19th the year 1775 in Middlesex Country, province of Massachusetts Bay during the American Revolution. The British were marching to Concord because of the arms depot of the Americans. The Americans were out numbered, out gunned, and not as well trained at the British soldiers. On the side of the road there were 40 to 100 speculators of this event. When the British arrived one of the officers rode forward waving his sword and called out to the militia to disperse and go home, as well as telling them Lay down your arms, you damned rebels! But the Americans did not lay down their arms so the British commander Major John Pitcairn told his men to hold fire as did the Americans leader, Captain John Parker, who was a veteran from the French and Indian War (1754 1763). The title of this documentary is Minimalism: A Documentary about the Important Things, but the film itself is not very minimalistic, nor does it focus solely on the important ideas of minimalism. The documentary is filled with multiple people s different stories of their journey to minimalism and many different points of view making it quite cluttered . • 16. Covert Drone Program And Targeting Killings Years preceding the terrorist attack on the 11th of September 2001, the CIA and the United States Air Force had already developed the facility to use aerial vehicles, piloted remotely, as weapons. Yet, it was the occurrence of 9/11 that sparked the use of armed remote piloted aerial vehicles (better known as drones) in the global War of Terror led by the United States. The purpose of this position paper is to examine the legality of the covert armed drone program, specifically in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in Pakistan. It will consider the extent of accuracy of the legal frameworks relative to the drone program and targeted killings. To do so, exploring the context in which the United States justifies its actions and military strategies regarding the Global War on Terror is important. This paper will be providing a review of, amongst other references, two pieces of academic literature that discuss the presence of drone warfare in Pakistan: Mark Mazzetti s The Way of the Knife: The CIA, A Secret Army, and a War at the Ends of the Earth and David Sanger s Confront and Conceal: Obama s Secret Wars and Surprising Use of American Power. They will be used as evidence to support the questionability of the legal frameworks relative to the armed drone conflict. Why Software Should Be Free By Richard Stallman Vincent Jonany Term Paper INFO 450 06/06/15 In the paper Why Software Should Be Free written by Richard Stallman, he argued that developers should develop free software. In the paper, Stallman justified his belief of the free software movement. Stallman believes that free software can be defined with the four essential freedoms: the freedom to run the program however the users like, the freedom to modify the source code so that it does different computing, the freedom to distribute copies of the program, and the freedom to distribute the modified copies to others. In his justifications of his stand on free software, he argues that people will still have the initiative to develop software even though they know that it will be freely distributed. He explained that these institutions are able to fund programmers by using the money from donations from computer manufacturers. Lastly, Stallman justified that although free software developer realized that they are getting paid at least half of what they could make elsewhere, they do this because they will be free from bureaucracy, and they feel good about themselves. • 18. Why Does Jane Austen Use Of The Gothic Explore How Austen Makes Use of the Gothic in the Novel Throughout Northanger Abbey Jane Austen uses gothic horror to describe main events that highly influence the outcome of the novel. The book bases its whole plot around gothic horror but it s not really a gothic horror but more of parody of a gothic horror. At the very start of the book (pages 3 4) Austen introduces the character of Catherine. She uses stereotypical characteristics from a normal Gothic Horror novel to somewhat tell the reader that Catherine is remarkably none of these things. As the reader this tells you Austen portrays her as a plain and unaccountable character with a very unremarkable life, not that of stereotypical heroine from a gothic horror novel. She tells ... Whilst at Northanger Catherine discovers a high old fashioned black cabinet within her room a rousing curiosity rouses within her and she investigates the contents of it. This is Austen once again using the plot of something from within your average gothic horror story to manipulate Catherine s imagination. The dream script is created by both migrants and host societies who dream of having a better life, or providing a better life for immigrants. This dream script is the essence of the what if? game. However, this second nightmare has a hard time finding the light of media representations as it often gets misconstrued. Orgad demonstrates this by saying, in today s environment of media representations, the lines between the factual and the fictional increasingly blur. (Orgad, 2012) When looking beyond dreams and nightmares, Orgad finds that immigrants are ambivalent and their imagination is incomplete. This imagination is governed by uncertainty and confusion, a mix of hope and anxiety, desire for a better, but unknown, future, and grief of over the loss of soon to become former lives. (Orgad, 2012) Essentially, the fear of migration is real, as it is impossible to know where you will fall. Through a growing amount of globalization, we again see representation grow. One point I found interesting in this article was how children were valued and taken care of in the past. The reason why children were highly valued in the past was because there were more caregivers available for each child. This was due to the fact that people lived in multicultural and social groups focusing less on the significance of personal space and privacy. All these individuals play a vital role in the child s advancement and safety. Based on the article, a child under the age of six has roughly 4 to 5 caregivers which are more than society has in this modern generation. • 25. The Way Of Wealth By Benjamin Franklin Benjamin Franklin is considered one of the most realistic and wisest men in the history of America. He is known for his stand on the necessity for the individual to work hard and to be frugal in order to reach success. In the presented essay, The Way to Wealth , he makes mention of various aphorisms and pieces of advice which express his views and opinions about morals, ethics, life, taxes, debts, etc. Among those pieces of advice that he offers his audience, we find the phrase employ thy time well if thou meanest to gain leisure; and, since thou art not sure of a minute, throw not away an hour. Although much of his work is devoted to the importance of industry and of frugality, here Franklin discusses the difference between being lazy and having leisure. He places emphasis on how without working hard and in a conscious way, the individual will never be able to have time for pastimes or leisure. Instead of viewing laziness and fun as the ultimate goal an individual must aim for, Franklin advices about using the time in a profitable way. To him, labor brings more comfort than idleness or laziness, as when the individual is idle or bored, he manages to commit mischief. Moreover, it is his belief that one cannot just be in a useless position the whole time, lest poverty and necessity strike. Therefore, Franklin argues, it is important to find useful things to do with one s time, but things that bring enjoyment, in order for one to work hard at them. Once the ... The distinct point of anterograde amnesia is that it is possible to list memories that the patients can remember based on a specific point in time. In other words, only memory that had been acquired before hippocampus was damaged is remained. Leonarde cannot remember the memory formed after his head is hit by robber. Every acquirable memory in everyday life is not applicable to him. He cannot remember all about incidents because memories formed just a few minutes before is cut off and get out of from his brain. Therefore, he doesn t have any cause and effect thought process in recent incident and has absent recognition of time and space. This is because his head is no longer working for memories preservation. In regard to cause of anterograde amnesia, the reason of anterograde amnesia is due to problem in hippocampal system and that evidence can be found in many psychological journals. Firewalls can be placed in both hardware and software, or can also be placed in both hardware and software. Firewalls are usually used to prevent unauthorized access on a network. All messages entering or leaving the network go through a firewall, the firewall analyses all the messages and then blocks the messages that do not meet the security standards. The administrator sets the security standards which packets need to meet, he/she will decide which packet is suitable to pass through the firewall. (Webopedia.com, 2017), (Services, 2017). • 38. Analysis Of A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night Essay The film A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night , director Ana Lily Amirpour, is a mixture of genres such as the Spaghetti Western, the teenage romance, and the vampire genre. The clash of genres in this film brings out the idea of hybridity and duality, with the sounds and cinematography creating a sense of ambiguity, or the in between . The underlying mix brings out a sense of horror for the overall feel of the film as it leaves audiences with a sense of fear and realisation that not everything is as it seems. The spaghetti western genre is a part of the mix of genres which provide the film with its theme of duality and hybridity, and Amirpour has chosen to feed this genre through with the character of the girl. Typical of the spaghetti western genre, the character is nameless. Audiences do not have the privilege of finding out her name, and in the title she is referred to as A Girl . This feel of uncertainty is heightened with a sense of fear when the only information we are presented about her is when she tells Arash that she has done bad things . She is representative of the spaghetti western hero in her characteristics and actions. Untiedt, upon analysing the fictional western hero, states that the first defining characteristic of the western hero is isolation (7). Here the Girl is always seen to be walking alone, she has no companions, and lives by herself. Dualism is brought out within the character, as the western hero has a desire to explore without settling (7). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reason why Martin is not only the main protagonist, but is also the most dynamic, is because throughout the story he pushed the truth about his culture from his life, was embarrassed by his Grandfather s presentation, and didn t know the history of an important symbol of his heritage. Once he finally experiences an important scene with his Grandpa and has the talk about the past, Martin changes into a person that respects his culture, isn t embarrassed by his Grandpa, and also learns more about the symbol of his heritage that put Martin on a path to manhood. • 40. Slavery In The Antebellum American South Race as a social construct, a pseudo biological concept, and an identifying demographic has undeniably been ubiquitous in the history of human otherness. In particular, the ascribing of racial identities to a group, or racialization , has played a vital role in the conception and development of minority groups. This phenomenon continues to shape ideas about race and ethnicity, albeit in less dramatic ways than in the antebellum South. Nevertheless, people blinded by privilege claim that they are colorblind or that society has moved into a post racial paradigm. It is, therefore, especially relevant to examine processes of racialization that have defined and maintained the social concept of race throughout history. A prominent historical instance of racialization that influenced modern day race identity is the objectification and commoditization of black people in Southern slave markets of the antebellum era. As a consequence of the chattel principle, which defined a slave s existence as property of a slaveholder, Black Americans identities were permanently altered by those who used their positions of power to subjugate and dehumanize them, either deliberately or tacitly. Specifically through association between race and physical or mental ability, and false medicalization of issues in slave populations, slave traders, slaveholders, and others who endorsed chattel slavery perpetuated the racialization of black slaves. • 42. Investigating The Coefficient Of Thermal Conductivity For... Lab Report Module Name: Mechanical Principles (ENGD1005) Experiment Name: Thermal Conductivity Student P number: P14177341 Lab Tutor : Dr Rick Greenough Date: 26/11/2014 Objectives of the experiment: The objective of the experiment was to measure and determine the coefficient of thermal conductivity for copper and stainless steel. Background: Thermal conduction is the transfer of heat energy in a material due to the temperature gradient. It always takes place from a region of high temperature to a region of low temperature. Heat transfers at a higher rate across materials that have high thermal conductivity than across materials with low thermal conductivity. Thermal conductivity is temperature dependant. Apparatus: Thermocouple potentiometer Cussons thermal conductivity apparatus. Measuring beaker Procedure: Firstly before the experiment begins ensure the apparatus has been set up correctly, i.e checking if all dials are in their correct position. After the apparatus has been set up, what should be done is the temperatures of the cold water in and hot water out should be noted down, this is done by reading the temperature gauges on the cussons thermal conductivity apparatus . After temperature of cold water in and hot water out has been noted you can move onto using the Thermocouple potentiometer to find the temperature of the water as it is heated through the metals and out of the metals. This can be done by putting the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Multimarket Competition Multimarket contact involves firms simultaneous competition against one another in multiple product and/or geographical markets (Haveman and Nonnemaker, 2000; Korn and Baum, 1999) or in international markets (countries) (Yu, Subramaniam, and Cannella, 2009). Prior research on multimarket competition has examined exploitation in mature markets (Bowers, Greve, Mitsuhashi, and Baum, 2014; Gimeno, 1999; Greve, 2008; Guedri and McGuire, 2011) such as geographic markets (Fuentelsaz and Gómez, 2006; Greve, 2000) and sales growth (Greve, 2008) rather than exploration in immature markets. • 44. The Norman Conquest By Marc Morris, The Narrative Of The... The Norman Conquest by Marc Morris is a narrative of the Norman invasion of 1066. Since the events happened so long ago, there are many incomplete accounts of the events. Even these incomplete accounts are usually heavily biased. As such, it is a difficult undertaking for a historian to construct a cohesive summary of the period. Nevertheless, Marc Morris attempted the task, and did an admirable job. It is written as a narrative, but has enough detail to satisfy a student of history. Morris begins by exploring the history of one of the few sources that remain of the Norman invasion, the Bayeux tapestry. The tapestry has had a long history of trading hands and escaping harm seemingly miraculously. According to Morris, the Bayeux tapestry has survived looting in the French Revolution, was owned by Napoleon Bonaparte for a time, and was stolen by Nazis during their occupation of France in World War II. Aside from its own fascinating history, the tapestry itself is not a flawless source. Morris points out that it is in fact incomplete, as it abruptly stops at Harold Godwinson s death. It was also in part copied from older accounts of the invasion and therefore is not a primary source. It is also non committal in its portrayal of events and the captions are for the most part willfully obscure or ambiguous (p. 4). In other words, it seems intended more to be a narrative than as a factual historical record. Exact dates are often not given for important events, such as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Internal And Internal Conflict In The Tell Tale Heart And... In both the stories The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe and The Hand written by Guy de Maupassant, have many internal and external conflicts around the narrator. An internal conflict is a struggle that takes place in one s mind, or this is when you are having a war inside of you with your self. External conflicts are when one is in dispute with another man, nature, or the environment around them. Here are a few examples from each of the stories. In the short story The Tell Tale Heart , the narrator is annoyed by an elderly man s eye, or the vulture eye. In the book it describes the eye as a pale blue eye with a film over it . The narrator wants to get rid of the eye, so he decides that he will need to kill the old man. Here we find our first internal conflict. The narrator says that he loves the man, but hates his haunting eye, thus he wants to kill him. When it s night and he stalks the old man who is in sleep, the narrator feels bad about having to kill him when he can t see the eye, but the moment that he does he has an impulse to kill him. This quote here shows exactly that, It is impossible to say how first the idea entered my brain; but once conceived... Object there was none. Passion there was none. I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult. For his gold I had no desire. I think it was his eye! yes, it was this! He had the eye of a vulture a pale blue eye, with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so ... I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever. The second conflict I came across was, when the narrator was stalking down the old man at night, while he was sleeping. While the old chap was sleeping, his eye was closed, as a result the narrator didn t have the drive to kill him. He waited seven long days till the old man finally stayed awake after the narrator made noise in the old man s house. On this night, the murderous narrator killed the old man, because the eye was finally open. This quote shows the external conflict of man versus time. I undid the lantern cautiously... I undid it just so much that a single thin ray fell upon the vulture eye. And this I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Experimental Study About Rc Based Rfid Tracking System For... Simulation enables researchers to construct models to understand and evaluate current systems and alternatives for applying new processes or improving current processes in various areas (Greasley, 2004; Ingalls, 2008; Iqbal et al., 2012). The simulation method has been adopted in various industries such as airline, port operation, banking, service, food and transportation (Robinson, 2004; Kotachi et al., 2013). Although simulation raises quality concerns and does not provide absolute answers, simulation is flexible to design simple and complex processes (Chung, 2003; Kotachi et al., 2013). Researchers used different approaches to simulate returnable container (RC) models such as agent approach, regression approach and discrete event simulation approach. Apparwal (2014) used agent based system approach to study about RC based RFID tracking system for logistic services provider. Kim et al. (2014) used regression simulation model to study about RC for perishable products under stochastic return times.  Discrete Event Simulation Model This experimental study aims to execute model which displays RC system of a company in Thailand by using discrete event simulation (DES) approach or next event technique. This approach is to simulate and update the operation of components when a state change or event is due (Greasley, 2004; Robinson, 2004; Pidd, 2004). For instance, considering close loop supply chain for RCs which pallets are used to deliver products to customers and then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Characters In Gary Faulsen s Hatchet By Gary Paulsen Every novel has that brave, strong, character that never gives up. This type of character is always looking out for others and being the best version of themselves that they can be. In the novel Hatchet by Gary Paulsen the main character Brian Robeson has to be all of the above. He really can t let himself down because no one else will be there to help him survive in the wilderness. Therefore, because Brian is the alone in the wilderness he becomes committed, resourceful, and clever. To begin, Brian is many different traits but the one I think he mostly is committed. An example of this would be on page 51, where Gary Paulsen writes, He had to do something to help himself. I have to get motivated, he thought, remembering Perpich. Right now i m all i ve got. I have to do something. Brian is basically is being his own parents while he is surviving. This is showing that Brian is so committed that he won t even think about letting himself give up or even think about that fact. Another example of this would be on page 124 when Brian was talking about his living situation, The basic idea had been good, the place for his shelter was right, but he hadn t gone far enough. Food was first, but the work for the food went on and on. He had tried to take a short cut and pay for it with his turtle eggs... Even though Brian does have a shelter to live in he still doesn t think that is good enough for him, so he goes above and beyond to make his shelter the best it can be for him to ... • 49. The Jungle Dbq I aimed for the public s hearts, and by accident I hit it in the stomach. This quote was in response to the reaction of Upton Sinclair s ground breaking exposé, The Jungle . On February 26, 1906 Sinclair shocked the Nation by exposing the horrors of slaughter houses and meat packing plants. Thousands of people have died from food borne illnesses. E coli, along with other diseases resulting from filthy food processing was revealed as the murderer. As shocking as it might have been back then, it is even more alarming to find out that conditions have not improved in the last one hundred nine years. Food borne illnesses are still an extremely common occurrence. People should not have to worry about whether their purchased food, food that was approved by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is safe to eat. Consumers shouldn t have to worry about tainted or dirty meat. Cleaner meat packing facilities and stricter meat regulation on the part of the USDA should be a standard. Eating a burger should not have to be a life or death situation. This is no fairy story and no joke; the meat will be shoveled into carts and the man who did the shoveling will not trouble to lift out a rat even when he saw one. (Sinclair The Jungle ). The author who wrote Popular Mechanics believed that the parents which seams love their child and fight for custody were actually the murders who were hurting child.
