The film A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night , director Ana Lily Amirpour, is a mixture of genres such
as the Spaghetti Western, the teenage romance, and the vampire genre. The clash of genres in this film
brings out the idea of hybridity and duality, with the sounds and cinematography creating a sense of
ambiguity, or the in between . The underlying mix brings out a sense of horror for the overall feel of
the film as it leaves audiences with a sense of fear and realisation that not everything is as it seems.
The spaghetti western genre is a part of the mix of genres which provide the film with its theme of
duality and hybridity, and Amirpour has chosen to feed this genre through with the character of the
girl. Typical of the spaghetti western genre, the character is nameless. Audiences do not have the
privilege of finding out her name, and in the title she is referred to as A Girl . This feel of uncertainty
is heightened with a sense of fear when the only information we are presented about her is when she
tells Arash that she has done bad things . She is representative of the spaghetti western hero in her
characteristics and actions. Untiedt, upon analysing the fictional western hero, states that the first
defining characteristic of the western hero is isolation (7). Here the Girl is always seen to be walking
alone, she has no companions, and lives by herself. Dualism is brought out within the character, as the
western hero has a desire to explore without settling (7).

Many people have grandparents. Some passed and some alive, but for most, at least once in their
lifetime their grandparents or parents have embarrassed them in public. They might say exceptionally
loud that you have a cute girl on your phone or they just have a funny appearance in the society they
are in. In Virginia Sneve s short story, The Medicine Bag, the main protagonist Martin has a Sioux
Native American Grandpa who comes from a culture that is a lot different than the modern world.
Martin s Grandpa wears different clothes, looks different, acts different from the community, and
overall just stands out. Given these circumstances, Martin is embarrassed for his Grandpa and himself.
As the story continues on the most dynamic character in this short story would still have to be Martin.
The reason why Martin is not only the main protagonist, but is also the most dynamic, is because
throughout the story he pushed the truth about his culture from his life, was embarrassed by his
Grandfather s presentation, and didn t know the history of an important symbol of his heritage. Once
he finally experiences an important scene with his Grandpa and has the talk about the past, Martin
changes into a person that respects his culture, isn t embarrassed by his Grandpa, and also learns more
about the symbol of his heritage that put Martin on a path to manhood.

The objective of the experiment was to measure and determine the coefficient of thermal conductivity
for copper and stainless steel.
Background:
Thermal conduction is the transfer of heat energy in a material due to the temperature gradient. It
always takes place from a region of high temperature to a region of low temperature. Heat transfers at
a higher rate across materials that have high thermal conductivity than across materials with low
thermal conductivity. Thermal conductivity is temperature dependant.

The Norman Conquest by Marc Morris is a narrative of the Norman invasion of 1066. Since the
events happened so long ago, there are many incomplete accounts of the events. Even these
incomplete accounts are usually heavily biased. As such, it is a difficult undertaking for a historian to
construct a cohesive summary of the period. Nevertheless, Marc Morris attempted the task, and did an
admirable job. It is written as a narrative, but has enough detail to satisfy a student of history. Morris
begins by exploring the history of one of the few sources that remain of the Norman invasion, the
Bayeux tapestry. The tapestry has had a long history of trading hands and escaping harm seemingly
miraculously. According to Morris, the Bayeux tapestry has survived looting in the French Revolution,
was owned by Napoleon Bonaparte for a time, and was stolen by Nazis during their occupation of
France in World War II. Aside from its own fascinating history, the tapestry itself is not a flawless
source. Morris points out that it is in fact incomplete, as it abruptly stops at Harold Godwinson s

self. External conflicts are when one is in dispute with another man, nature, or the environment around
them. Here are a few examples from each of the stories. In the short story The Tell Tale Heart , the
narrator is annoyed by an elderly man s eye, or the vulture eye. In the book it describes the eye as a
pale blue eye with a film over it . The narrator wants to get rid of the eye, so he decides that he will
need to kill the old man. Here we find our first internal conflict. The narrator says that he loves the
man, but hates his haunting eye, thus he wants to kill him. When it s night and he stalks the old man
who is in sleep, the narrator feels bad about having to kill him when he can t see the eye, but the
moment that he does he has an impulse to kill him. This quote here shows exactly that, It is impossible
to say how first the idea entered my brain; but once conceived... Object there was none. Passion there
was none. I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult. For his gold
I had no desire. I think it was his eye! yes, it was this! He had the eye of a vulture a pale blue eye, with
a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so ... I made up my mind to take the
life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever. The second conflict I came across was,
when the narrator was stalking down the old man at night, while he was sleeping. While the old chap

Every novel has that brave, strong, character that never gives up. This type of character is always
looking out for others and being the best version of themselves that they can be. In the novel Hatchet
by Gary Paulsen the main character Brian Robeson has to be all of the above. He really can t let

of people have died from food borne illnesses. E coli, along with other diseases resulting from filthy

borne illnesses are still an extremely common occurrence. People should not have to worry about
