Food Taboos
Food Taboos Would You Eat Breast Milk Cheese? (Hamm, 2010). I have shown this headline to
multiple people and have received the same reaction from everyone. Most of these people I work
with at a daycare. We all handle and serve breast milk on a daily basis. Also we watch mothers
nurse their infants. Yet, the reaction did not surprise me, even with this comfort level with human
breast milk. This reaction falls along the line of disgust and shock. One person even reacted with a
sharp reply of I DID NOT NEED TO SEE THAT! There is something about the thought of
consuming human breast milk that makes people squirm.
Human Breast Milk is touted as the perfected food for infants. There is extreme pressure placed on
new mothers to nurse or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two documentaries airing on the National Geographic Channel this week examine delicacies and
taboo foods around the globe, revealing that what s good or bad is all a matter of taste. (National
Geographic). This is only one of the channels that covers this topic on a regular occasion (I would
use the word basis); there are many more that cover every kind of taboo in the world.
Culture forms as sense of who we are in the larger community in which we exist among. This
connection shapes the rules we follow to exist to peacefully live with one another. The culture
we grow up in shapes our relationship with food. For better or worse, depending on if we accept
and live up to the cultural norms presented to us. For those who choose to not follow them will
be faced with consequences for rejecting theses norms. For me, the sub culture of my family in
the United States has had a major impact of what food taboos I hold. I was raised on a very limited
palate of food diversity and was rarely challenged to try new or unique food. This is only made
worse by having Asperger s Syndrome, which, causes sensory issues related to food. It can relate
to any of the senses related to eating or cooking. As a result, I do not enjoy eating as a general
rule and do not derive pleasure from it. The reason why this is true: is that I am very picky and
eating is challenging for me.
This taboo can affect me socially. Our society in the United States, places

Beauty In The Chronicles Of Narnia
C.S. Lewis had an instinctive pleasure for a little bit of this and a little bit of that in what he
wrote. Lewis love for sweet disorder is inspired by British poet Robert Herrick. This love allowed
Lewis to unify excerpts and themes from religious works, mythology from various cultures, and
literature of famous writers. Lewis had the ability to commerce a theme into an extensive, greater
idea to construct it in what he wrote. Throughout The Chronicles of Narnia, he expresses the beauty
he sees in disorder. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, The Magicians Nephew, and The
Voyage of the Dawn Treaderare three of the main books that he shows his admiration. If Lewis
had not used the literary elements of animals and planets in The Chronicles of Narnia series, then
these books would lack the true art and connotation of what Lewis wants to portray throughout
these books. In The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe, animals become powerful literary choices. A
lion exists as an authoritative creature who leads amongst most. Come, Son of Adam, and I will
you show you a far off sight of the castle where you are to be King (LWW 129). Talking lions
stand among the most respected creatures in all Narnia. Although the children had just met Aslan,
they knew that they should follow his leadership and obey under his commands. This creature
embodies as the king of the beast . The lion (Aslan) is depicted in the book to represent Jesus
Christ, known as the lord of Narnia. Another animal

Humanitarian Award
Humanitarian Award
The Humanitarian award is an award that recognizes the work of persons in communities
throughout the United states and Internationally. The award is given to people who dedicate their
time to fighting indifference, intolerance, and injustice and whose accomplishments are consistent
with the goals of a foundation. Some actions that can get an individual nominated are: Aiding those
that are less fortunate/in need, Eliminating the pain of others, or just being a positive influence in
their community (inspire change). In order for someone to get nominated, that individual have to
be organizations, they have to support a charity, and the individual has to be legally established for
at least five years in order to be considered.
The Humanitarian award was created by the Ellie Wiesel foundation in 1990. Since then, there
have been twenty individuals who were worthy of winning this prestigious award. The person that
deserves this award the most, is a woman from Kosciusko, Mississippi, Oprah Winfrey. Oprah was

A Brief Note On The Affordable Care Act
Just as the Affordable Care Act has it s positive outcomes that can help many people, it also
comes along with several downsides. The first downside is that the Affordable Care Act will not
only raise taxes to help fund for it but it will affect many of the high earners because they will
have to pay higher taxes. Not only that is an issue but will also hurt those middle class Americans
that do not quite make enough but at the same time are not completely living in poverty. These
people will be the most affected by the taxes because it will affect our American Citizens directly.
Also, these taxes are not quite specified but it is stated that even larger firms will have to pay a
larger sum of moneydue to the taxes being enforced with the Affordable Care Act. They will
begin to see a negative financial effects as well as their employees because they will also be held
accountable to get those taxes take from their paychecks so they too will see a negative financial
effect. Quite Frankly, that is a very tough to happen to employers and employees because they
work hard to make ends meet and if additional taxes are going to be added to their paychecks to
deduct more of their pay it can really hurt the employee as well as their family. Another Con that the
Affordable Care Act brings to the table is that health insurancewill rise and be more costly for our
American Citizens. They do say the quality will improve in the long run but it was never mentioned
specifically of the amount

The Theory Of Classical Conditioning
Classical conditioning is based on an association between two stimuli and implies that we as
organisms are rather passive in the learning process. Operant conditioning is based on a response
and stimuli (i.e., consequences) that follow that response. Operant implies that organisms operate
on the environment to produce consequences we anticipate based on previous active learning.
Classical conditioning, the association between two stimuli is easily demonstrated in the media.
For example, advertising professionals know that they have to pair their products with something
that will trigger something in the audience. By pairing their products with something that makes
people either happy, excited, or even hungry. They know that people will want to purchase their
products. Coca Cola has been pairing their products with Christmas for years. Christmas naturally
makes most people happy and excited for the holiday season. During the Coca Cola Christmas
commercial for 2010, it starts with Santa running through a parking lot. As it continues hundreds
of red semi trucks covered in white lights appear. Through the trees you catch a glimpse of the
Coca Cola label and Santa sitting in a chair drinking a coke. While Christmas music plays children
run to line the road to watch the trucks pass. As the commercial continues the music gets louder and
more lights start to light up with trees. The commercial then flashes to a father reading a Christmas
story to his son while sharing

Bach, Johann Sebastian Bach And Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Fugue Bach Shostakovich

Comparative Fugal Analysis
The fugue is often regarded as a genre defined by strict procedural guidelines. It is notable that
three historically important composers, Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 1750), Georg Friedrich
Handel (1685 1759), and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart(1756 1791), all employed a closely related
fugue subject in three different works. An analysis of each of these works individually, and a
comparison of these works collectively reveal numerous latent and salient features, and a
reflection of the composers style within these works. Analyses also provide an outlook into the
fluidity in certain aspects and rigidity in others of the form itself, reflected historically. The three
composers analyzed fall closely together in history. J.S. Bach and G.F. Handel were
contemporaries, whereas Mozart was born six years after Bach s death and three years before
Handel s death. Analytically, the angularity of these similar fugue subjects presupposes a treatment
regardless of the composer. Because of the shared intervallic content among the subjects of these
fugues, despite being written by several different composers, a surprising number of similarities
arise. Therefore, it is reasonable to assert that compositional choices made in the construction of the
fugue subjects limit the number of results possible.
This analysis will use the A minor fugue from of J.S. Bach s The Well Tempered Clavier, Book 2

Essay on Setting in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest
Ken Kesey s One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest is a unique fiction novel about oppression and
rebellion in an American 1950 s Mental Hospital. In this highly distinctive novel, setting definitely
refers to the interior, the interiors of the Institution. It also refers to the period this novel this was
set in, the 50 s, 60 s where McCarthyism was dominant. Furthermore, it has great symbolic value,
representing issues such as the American struggle of freedom and conformity. This essay shall
discuss the setting amp; its significance towards Ken Kesey s One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest.
In the novel, setting is important towards the interiors, as the vast majority of the novel is set

The interiors are also significant as it is a representation of how society applied their expectations of
each other. Throughout the McCarthy period, there was the great threat of the Russians, the
communists, who could potentially use nuclear technology to attack America. Also, any person
who unpatriotically supported communism was harshly dealt with. These events were represented
in an exact scale model of the Mental Institution. Anyone who dared to cause an uproar was
humiliated in group therapy sessions, or given Electroshock Therapy, or in extreme cases such as
McMurphy, lobotomy. In the hospital, McMurphy represented the rebel, the opposer to the
Combine (McCarthyism), the one who wanted to break free of society s conformity.
Setting is also important, as it refers to the period this book was set in, the 1950 s. Ultimately, it is
a reflection of what was happening in American society at the time, and what American society
expected from each other. McCarthyism, as started by Senator Joseph McCarthy, was the most
prevalent movement of the 1950 s, where there was great momentum for anti communism and the
suppression of the Anti communist party. Freedom of speech was suppressed, just like speech and
actions were inside the hospital. Here, the

historical tradition with the faith focused community. Marketing for this initiative will be
distributed throughout campus over the next thirty days. All student leaders and advisors have been
asked to serve as ambassadors and participate in getting the campus involved. In addition, all student
affairs professionals and professors are encouraged to discuss how this new initiative impacts
campus; this will give them the opportunity to share ideas on how the institution can strengthen its
presence. For example, groups can discuss the effect the Green Movement has on campus. Adapting
to the new culture is a community effort. Having the full support of faculty, staff and students will

What Are The 8 Features Of Crime
8 Features of Crime
There are eight essential factors that are found every crime and therefore make up the legal concept
as to what crime is. The eight concepts are actus reus, mens rea, concurrence, causation, harm,
legality, necessary attendant circumstances, and punishment. Actus reus means guilty act, or any
act that is in violation of the law. This term describes the physical not the mental act of committing
a crime.Omission to act is also represented under this act, for example child neglect where a
parent or guardian does not fulfill their duties that are afforded to a child. Another part to this is
also threatening to act which can be criminal as well. If you tell someone that you re going to
murder them can get one into trouble because threats, especially those against the president, are
taken very seriously.Attempted murder is also illegal even if it is not accomplished if one is
caught in the act or of doing the act then they can be arrested. Conspiring to commit an illegal act
and that can be proven is illegal as well. One example is if you were to have this elaborate plan to
rob a very prominent bank and you are communicating with people and making plans of the
building then that is enough to get you in trouble for conspiring. These are the concepts that fall
under actus reus . The next idea of crime is mens rea which is kind of like partner to actus rea.
Except mens rea is the state of mind that accompanies a criminal act. There are four types of mens

Ensuring robustness of financial models and the effectiveness of all systems used to calculate
market risk. Liquidity risk is the potential inability to meet the bank s liabilities as they become due
and are managed through caps on the net asset calculations in the various time buckets. Interest rate
risk is the risk where changes in market interest rates might adversely affect a bank s financial
condition. A long term impact of changing interest rate is on banks net worth since the economic
value of bank s assets, liabilities and off balance sheet positions get affected due to variation in
market interest rates.
The management of Interest Rate Risk should be one of the critical components of market risk
management in banks. Deregulation of interest rates has, however, exposed them to the adverse
impacts of interest rate risks. The Net Interest Income or Net Interest Margin (NIM) of banks is
dependent on the movements of interest rates. The GAP model for the Asset Liability Management
is concerned with measuring interest rate risk by finding the pattern of the net interest income over
a given period of time.

Greenhouse Gases Lab Report
Greenhouse Gases
The Earth absorbs solar energy and most of this energy is later released as heat, or IR radiation.
Most of the gas molecules in the atmosphere are not able to absorb this energy and it passes
through and out into space.
Carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and certain other gases absorb IR
radiation from the Earth s surface and re emit it in all directions. These gases act like the glass in a
greenhouse to increase the temperature of the planet.
IR Absorption
The homonuclear diatomic molecules that make up the bulk of the atmosphere (N2 and O2) do not
absorb IR radiation because they have no IR active vibrations. What makes a vibrational mode IR
active?

for a diatomic molecule.
Stretching Vibrations 1.There is movement along the bond axis.
2.Interatomic distances change.
3.There is NO change in the center of gravity.
Non linear molecules have more vibrational modes. Water has 3 of these.

African American Superiority
When African Americans first arrived in American colonies in 1619, religion and wealth were
the determining factors of superiority. Most labor was performed by indentured servants of
European decent at this time. However as immigrant arrivals slowed and the need for labor
increased, African American slaves were shipped over and considered to be a never ending
supply of labor. Colonial law and statues began to use the word White opposed to Englishmen or
Christians to show superiority. Lower class Europeans thus obtained more rights and had access to
better job opportunities as they were replaced by the inferior African Americans. At this time
African Americans were believed to be a different species while Natives were considered to be

Why Hunting Should Be Made Illegal
Hunting has always been a fundamental aspect of life throughout human s history. Thus, it s widely
accepted that hunting animals for food and other similar purposes is normal. However, there has
been lots of debate involving the legality of hunting animals for trophies. This essay argues that
trophy huntingshould be made illegal. It will show two major reasons supporting this main
conclusion, involving the negative impacts of trophies hunting on the biological diversity and
evolution. It will then examine one main objection relating to the benefits of the activity for animal
conservation, but will rebut this objection.
The first reason to consider why trophies hunting should be made illegal is that trophies can lead
to the extinctions of numerous species, and these mass extinctions are believed to affect the
biological diversity tremendously. There are two ways trophy hunting can lead to rapid
extinctions of various animals. Firstly, trophy hunters tend to hunt endangered species, which are
already at risk of extinction according to their definition. This is due to hunting valuable targets
may reward trophy lots of money, and recent studies have shown that endangered species are
often seen as high value targets no matter the cause of their rarity (Palazy et al. 2011). For
instance, one single bighorn sheep was sold for at least 400,000 US dollars during a private
auction (Palazy et al. 2011). Secondly, trophy hunting can mess up the population structures of
several species

Ancient Greek And Roman Empire Essay
Ancient Greek and Roman similarities.
The ancient Greek and Roman civilizations of Europe began to progress toward a more civilized
order of society. As there were no previous establishment to base their ideals on, it was
understandable that there were some difficulties in their progression as a society. Although the
ancient Greek and Roman governments fell, both had similar paths of creation, conquest, and
destruction.
Greek society began by the formation of the city state. quot; The city state, based on tribal

Both Greeks and Romans tried to realize some form of democracy. quot;It is to Greece that we
ultimately trace the idea of democracy and all that accompanies it: citizenship, constitutions,
equality before the law, government by law, reasoned debate, respect for the individual, and
confidence in human intelligence. quot; (Perry, 52)
Because Rome tried to maintain a republic it had different needs compared to the Greeks. quot; The
Romans, unlike the Greeks, were distinguished by practicality and common sense, not by a love of
abstract thought. In their pragmatic and empirical fashion, they gradually developed the procedures
of public politics and the legal state. quot; (Perry 88)
The fall of the Greeks was a direct result of a breakdown of social theories. quot; When people no

Not only are sprays ineffective in exterminating ants but spraying is also harmful for humans and

It s no wonder the spray smells so much like gasoline. When you spray, these petroleum distillates
allow the toxic chemicals in the spray can to go under furniture, behind appliances and into corners
and even into walls to kill ants where they hide. Unfortunately, these toxic chemicals also cover the
entire room. Unconsciously, you may touch these chemicals many times, increasing the risk of
being poisoned. While you are sprayinga group of ants, your puppy behind you may accidentally
inhale the mist and become sick. While cutting carrots, you may drop a piece on the sprayed

An In-Depth Analysis Of Gender Issues In Cosmopolitan...
Introduction
Traditionally gender has been viewed as a simple binary category with certain dichotomies that exist
between the masculine and feminine. The categorization is borne from the belief that because men
and women are biologically different that is, different sexes, there will be a natural difference in the
way they behave within the society (language use being an important aspect of this behavior).
There is little evidence that this belief is based on anything other than stereotyping. Just by virtue
that women and men are biologically different, the society believes that the men and women should
behave different also and that each should be treated differently. The natural belief that men and
women are different has led to the rise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An essential aspect of this issue of Cosmopolitan is that its head editor was a woman, Helen Gurley

Nonetheless, all the other important positions for the magazine, from the president of Hearst
Magazines, Richard E. Deems, to the head of Fiction, William Carrington Guy, were all men
(Gurley Brown 1965). This information paints an interesting picture, because of Gurley Brown s
position at the helm while valuable, still had to accommodate these other male visions on the
magazine. The rest of the positions are mostly filled by women, Fashion and Features,

Edgar Allan Poe Symbolism In The Raven
The Raven is a narrative poem written by Edgar Allan Poe. Many authors have used talking
ravens in their writing however Edgar Allen Poe was inspired by A Tale of the Riots Eighty by
Charles Dickens. Edgar Allan Poe wrote this poem when his wife was on her deathbed. Throughout
the poem, he looks for some answers related to Lenore, wishing that she would come to him even
if in a ghostly form, because he loves her and wants her. The ravenin the poem may also symbolize
the narrator as a person as well. In stanza 12, line 5, the poem reads: ...this grim, ungainly,
ghastly, gaunt, and ominous bird of yore. These all seem to describe what the narrator is feeling.
Yore means long ago, or to look back in time, like he was looking back on Lenore.
In Edgar Allen Poe s poem, The Raven, the narrator is taunted and goaded by a raven in the
midst of his grieving the death of his love, Lenore. In his poem, Poe does not make it clear if the
raven is a real, physical bird inside the narrator s chambers or if the slightly mad narrator conjured
up this being inside his own head. This differentiation makes it difficult to know what I, personally,
would do if confronted with Poe s raven. However, real or not, I think that I would experience

Whether real or not, such an unexpected and insistent visitor would startle and confuse me. In
the poem, the raven says over and over the word, Nevermore . I don t know if Poe s raven would
say something different to me. The raven s continuous nevermore to the narrator was an answer
to the fact that Lenore indeed was gone and would be gone forever, nevermore to be in the
narrator s life. If the raven was indeed inside my head, then I am sure the bird would echo over
and over whatever word was the key element to whatever problem caused me to hallucinate the
bird in the first place, and that would both frustrate me and give me an increased sense of

Organizational Structure And Functional Structure
How do you think your chosen company created their organizational structure? How is the
organizational structure reflected in the company culture?
The company I have chosen is the Department of Navy created their Functional Structure which
was based of learned lessons from past military employment history. The Navy s functional structure
provides organization according to a jobs or an individual s purpose within the organization.
Departments that focus on a single function or goal most easily recognize functional organizations.
For instance, an organization with a marketing department, a human resources department, a
research and development department and so forth, operates according to functional organization.
The functional structure provides employees, as well as their appropriate departments, with a clear
objective and purpose for their work. As an example, employees within a marketing department
know that their job is marketing and, as a result, those employees can focus on improving their
marketing work and even specialize in a specific area of marketing. On the other hand, functional
structure can create divisions between departments if a conflict develops between departments.
How is the company able to keep all the employees up to date on company strategies and tactics
within the current company dynamics? Is it effective?
Management sets objectives and charts a course of action so as to be proactive rather than reactive

Professor De Vida Bell, LCSW I.Introduction In assessing Emma s case, an analysis of her dynamic
systems and the interrelatedness between the biological, social, psychological, and developmental
factors, reveals that Emma has had major deficiencies, effecting her early/middle childhood life
span development. Thus, the traumas in which Emma has experienced, will nevertheless negatively
affect her continued development into adulthood, if her undesired, aggressive behaviors do not
produce successful and consistent interventions. II.Major Factors Emma s assessment includes an
examination of major factors, such as bio and neurobiological, psychological, social, and
development aspects within Emma s life and environment. Biologically, Emma doesn t have
responsively consistent caregivers; her father didn t believe that she was sexually abused by a
staff member at her pre school, and after the discovery, Emma s mother was her only parental
support in psychotherapy. From a neurobiological aspect, evidence derived from reports of Emma s
hyperactivity, and her inability to pay attention in class, may prove that she suffers from
deficiencies in a Gama amino butynic acid (GABA) brake neurotransmitter in her brain. (Robbins,

Historic Building Code Essay
Abstract
While historic buildings have benefited greatly from decades of regulatory reform, a new
generation of advocacy is required to address issues of building integrity . For historic buildings,
introducing building codes may present a challenge that can stifle the historic preservation tenet
applied to the historic structure whether it be preservation, restoration, rehabilitation or
reconstruction. Building codes are a set of regulations that provide for a minimum standard that
would safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of building occupants. Within the context of historic
preservation, building codes allow for the repair, alteration, relocation, and even change in
occupancy for the respective historic building. Each state and ... Show more content on

These remedies would have to be reversible and cannot be obtrusive to the character of the historic
structure. There is usually some abstruseness with how a historic building is revitalized since the
local government may amend a code to suit a particular need. The intent of building codes are to
provide the minimum requirement in buildings, to secure the beneficial interests of public safety,
health and general welfare, by regulation all new construction, additions, alterations and repairs of
buildings. The first code of published by the International Code Council (ICC) to address the
historic structures was the International Building Code. This code allowed the availability of
rehabilitation codes and established a subcommittee to oversee those codes.
It is not until a project or building is undergoing consideration, that codes must reflect the
requirements that were not previously required in older buildings. At the time period that
historic buildings were designed there was little to no need for egress or ADA accessibility. For
instance, the code requires at least two means of egress from the upper floors of a building. The
purpose in requiring two exits exists on the premise that should fire or other emergency block the
escape route through one of the exits, the second exit is available to building occupants. Buildings
in the 1950s were only provided with one exit

The Color White In Ayn Rand s Anthem
In the book Anthem, the color white is a symbol for innocence or lack of individuality of the
citizens and also symbolizes death. This is because the color white often shows up at important
parts of the plot to show the state of Equality 7 2521 s belief (or lack there of) in the society that
he lives in. Anthem was written by a woman named Ayn Rand

Improving Economic And Social Status Of A Region
Introduction Presently, changes are being experienced in areas where development projects aimed
at improving the economic and social status of a region are being carried. These changes happen to
affect the environment within which the projects are being carried and they often call for strategies
to be developed by the developing body to make sure that these impacts are reduced significantly
(Beer, Au and Hall n.d.). Despite different development projects aiming at bringing about some
positive changes in the society or in a given setting, studies show that the same projects may lead to
conflicts between the environmentand the human activities being carried out in that particular
region. Initially, the campaign for economic growth was viewed as the key for increasing the
standards of living in a given region but very little attention was given to the social and
environmental sensitivity and impacts that accompanied these projects (Chen, Liu and Liaw
2011). As a result, there has been a growing need to reduce the impacts of the projects as well as
making sure that the long term benefits of the projects are maximized in leading to sustainability
of the projects. Therefore, in the case of pipeline industry, there are a number of impacts that the
industry exposes to the environment as cases of spills may happen as well as destruction of the
environment as the pipelines are laid (Even and Porter 2012). These impacts may be reduced and
the sustainability of the projects may be

Archetypes In The Hero, The Mentor, And The Shadow
In The Hobbit, there are a variety of characters that play vital roles in the story. While this novel is
filled with many diverse characters, some have specific roles to play. These can be categorized into
archetypes. Archetypes describe the functions that people or items play in a story. Seven of these
archetypes exist, and three of them stand out in The Hobbit. The Hero, The Mentor, and The
Shadow are necessary archetypes that can be found in The Hobbit, and three characters fit these
roles perfectly. First of all, the archetype, The Hero, is represented by Bilbo Baggins, and for this
archetype, they sacrifice themself for the service of the journey. They grow and learn during this
time. For example, in chapter three, the text states, He was thinking once again of his comfortable

He provided Bilbo with help with his magic, and protected him. An example can be found in
chapter six, when Gandalf states, Up the trees quick! (The Hobbit, page 109). Gandalf told
Bilbo what to do. Then he commanded Bilbo to get up the trees, an order that saved his life. As
well, in chapter seven, the the wizard explains, I always meant to see you all safe (if possible)
over the mountains (The Hobbit, page 125). Hence, this quote proves that Gandalf always looks
out for Bilbo Baggins, and gives him insight to help him. One more piece of evidence can be
found in chapter seven, when Gandalf exclaims, Don t be a fool Mr. Baggins if you can help it;
and in the name of all wonder don t mention the word furrier again as long as you are within miles
of his house, nor rug, cape, tippet, muff, nor any other such unfortunate word! (The Hobbit, page

part of the problem with my former belief is that the first act that comes to mind is pornography. I

Research Paper On Online Classes
Online classes have boomed lately, but are they really worth all the work, or should we stick to
traditional classrooms? More and more people, especially these days have been enrolling in
online classes, due to the new technology being released. Online classes have been at lower
quality because of 3 reasons: how easy it is to cheat on them, the amount of money being put
into them is outrageous, and how small amount of control the professors have. Others might say,
I like online classes because the class schedule is very flexible and I can work it into my
schedule. While that is true, online classes fail to give you is face to face communication. In
Source B, the text states that, Online classes offer flexibility for sure. But if students never step

invested, they will tend to lose their sense of perseverance, or their will to accomplish something. If

Heroin, a white powder, was created in 1874, and was sold as a safe substitute for morphine.
However, it was discovered that heroin produced a quick dependency in people. Heroin and other
opiates were made illegal in 1920 as part of the Dangerous Drugs Act. Still today, however, Heroin
is illegally manufactured and imported, largely from the Indian sub continent.
As well as killing pain, moderate doses of pure opioids produce a range of mild effects. They
depress the activity of the nervous system, including such reflexes as coughing, breathing and heart
rate. They also cause widening of the blood vessels, which gives a feeling of warmth and reduces
bowel activity, which causes constipation.
Heroin itself can be taken in three ways, injecting a solution of heroin and water into your vein,
snorting it, or inhaling it. A person will receive maximum effects if they inject it. Basically
heroin makes people feel as if they are in a state of Euphoria for a small amount of time, and cause
people to be drowsy warm and content, which kind of detaches you from pain.
After Heroin is injected or inhaled, it crosses the blood brain barrier, and once in the brain, it is
converted to morphine and will bind with opioid receptors. This transferring is what gives the user
their rush, and the more of the drug, the faster it binds and the stronger the rush. Heroin

are called vintners or winemakers. A Vineyard is a plantation of grapevines and at the vineyard
they use the grapevines to make the grape juice. Then they make the grape juice into wine. The
harvesting of wine grapes is one of the most serious step in the process of winemaking. The time
of harvest is determined by the ripeness of the grape measured by sugar acid that are in the
grapes. Also the weather can affect the time of harvesting the grapes. With the threat of heat, rain,
hail, and frost which can damage the grapes and bring various vine diseases. Harvest season falls
between August and October in the Northern hemisphere and February and April in the Southern
hemisphere. Making grapes into wine is a long process. The first step is to harvest the grapes by
picking them by hand. Then, the grapes are sent to the winery. Next, the grapes are brought to the
machine to be crushed. Then, the next step is pressing the skin seeds and any other non juice items
from the juice. The next step is fermentation in this step the grape juice is turned into alcohol.
Then, the second to last step is aging, aging is when the wine is put into oak barrels. The last step
is bottling the wine and labeling the

Western Archetypal Hero
1.The hero that I selected earlier was Wonder Woman from the Western Archetypal Hero list.
2.Some similarities that I noticed between your hero Yu the Great and my hero Wonder Woman is
that they both are dedicated to protecting the people. Another similarity I noticed is that they both
have natural powers. Wonder Woman has her superhuman strength and Lasso of Truth, while Yu
the Great has the powers given to him by God.
3.Some main differences between Yu the Great and Wonder Woman was that Yu the Great helped
people in relation to growing their food and other crops; Wonder Woman on the other hand, helped
people and defeated her enemies in order to better mankind. Even though both served important
purposes.

Daughter Of Persia Summary
Critical Analysis: Daughter of Persia Daughter of Persia: A Women s Journey from her Father s
Harem through the Islamic Revolution, written by Sattareh Farmen Farmaian is an autobiography
of Sattareh or Sati throughout her whole life living in the Qajar dynasty. The book talks about the
significant events that happened throughout her life. Satti worked throughout her whole life to
defy gender roles and worked to enable better the quality of life through her work as an educator.
In general, I thought the whole book had a lot of interesting events and some of them shocked me.

In some factors though, it could be argued that they stepped a little step forward. Being that the
people of Iran let a corrupt man named Ayatollah Khomeini into power who held rigged
elections and made decisions for the whole country without listening to their opinions. He also
created tons of protests which eventually led to violence and the deaths of some civilians. Satti
explains, ...I heard gunfire outside. Since this was no longer unusal, I was not really alarmed
(Farmaian 313.) This shows that even a day to day civilian did not care for seeing weapons on
the street being used as commonly as seeing day to day occurrences like going to the store or
going to work. The Islamic Revolution also did step backward towards the Iranian people by
how after Ayatollah Khomeini was elected into power, the riots against him started after they
stopped agreeing with him. Sati states, On December 2, 1978, Moharram arrived and during its
ten days the violence increased again. Ayatollah Khomeini exhorted everyone to unite and
sacrifice themselves in blood like Iman Hossein, until the soldiers threw away their arms to join
the people s cause. Crowds large and small filled the streets, angry men and black veiled women
with waving fists and bulging eyes. Neighborhood organizers and the beards kept the protests

Essay On Nina Wang
A Study in female destiny Nina Wang If you can actually count your money, then you are not really
a rich man.
John Paul Getty,
American entrepreneur,
Quoted by Observer , 1957
The life of Nina Wang had long enraptured the public. It was the tale of how an ordinary schoolgirl
married her childhood boyfriend and became fabulously wealthy in the process.
Nina Wang was reputed to be one of the wealthiest women in Asia. Although she married, she did
not bear any children.
Therefore, it could be said that while she achieved success in life, she did not fulfil the destiny of a
female. She did not experience pregnancy and childbirth.
Nina Wang was born as Kung Yu Sum on 29 September 1936 into a well to do Shanghai business
family. She had known Teddy WangTeh huei since childhood. In 1948, when she was 12 and he

However, Teddy s body was never recovered. In 1999, the court declared that he was dead.
That declaration started a probate battle that would eventually reach epic proportions. In 2002,
Teddy s father, Wan Din shin, produced a will that was said to be written by Teddy in 1968. In this
will, Teddy had discovered that his wife was cheating on him and it left her with nothing.
Nina Wang countered by producing another will, coincidentally written in 1990 just before Teddy
s second kidnapping. In this will, he had written One life, one love. He declared that he left her
with everything. There were only two witnesses for the will. One was the butler who had died
shortly after Teddy had been declared dead. The other witness was Nina Wang herself.
In late 2002, the High Court ruled that the will produced by Nina Wang was fake. The estate,
estimated to be worth $128 million, was given to Teddy s father. Nina Wang appealed against the
ruling but lost in a 2 1 decision on 28 June

Music And Technology Aid A Another
Music and technology aid one another. In a way a person can capture music they love through
technology and then the electronic companies flourish due to the sale and popularity of these
electronic devices. If a person wants to listen to music they can turn on a stereo or TV, choose a
CD or DVD to play, or listen to a songs downloaded in ITunes. All of these devices are proof to
show how technology is used to record, play, and change the way music is heard. A look through
history will show how far society has come in music alone. The development of technology has
changed the way the music industryoperates and the way society hears and purchases music today.

Edison believed that the phonograph would have a positive effect on business, culture, and
education. Out of the invention of the phonograph, three distinct qualities were discovered of
recorded music: portability, affordability, and repeatability. Thanks to the phonograph and its
portability, Americans could hear the classics through recordings since professional musicians
never ventured to the rural areas. Portability would have meant nothing if not for its
affordability. In 1890 the cost of the phonograph was $40, and by the 1900 s it was reduced
down to five dollars. Poor blacks could also afford the phonograph, and in their minds it was a
way to try and achieve equalities among whites by listening and learning their culture.
Repeatability was believed to serve two main functions: to single out the good music versus the bad
and to help listeners to appreciate the art of the classics. Due to the fact that recording music had a
maximum of three to four minutes, musicians had to drastically cut the time of their music to make
more money. The phonograph was later called a gramophone and then it was known as the wax
cylinder. The phonograph went out of style when the FM radio was invented and spread throughout
American homes.

Reflective Essay On Social Work
As a senior, I thought this was the perfect time to get an in depth look at a career field that I was
considering. The main reason I decided to take a career internship was to be exposed to a side of
business that I had not been previously and to see if it is something I may want to pursue. The
spring semester included interning at the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber
of
Commerce is located on East Market Street in Elkin, North Carolina. The timeof the internship
period was mid day from 11:30 A.M to 1:00 P.M. This time frame allowed me to be exposed to
many lunch meetings that took place. My mentor, Myra Cook, is the president of the Chamber of
Commerce. Her role is to help businesses succeed and to promote them to the town of Elkin. At the
Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce, many valuable skills were learned such as: filing, how to
make contacts with different businesses, and planning different community events. In the future, I
want to major in non profit management and social work with hopes of opening my own non
profit someday. My non profit organization would focus on teaching people who did not receive a
proper education learn job and interview skills and help them enter the workforce.
When first arriving at the Chamber of Commerce, the first thing that is done is filing the new
paperwork, bills, and receipts. Throughout the day, typical duties include answering phone calls and
helping travellers that come in to the chamber. These travellers typically ask

it is not your typical love story. (A love story) is narrated by three quite humorous characters that
provide explanations and commentary on the situations the other characters have encountered in
that moment. They also play supporting, anthropomorphic roles as plants and an ant. This trio acts
as a Greek chorus, which is a small group of actors who comment, either by speaking or singing in

Important Components Of A Virtual Team Performance Essay
One of the most important components in any type of team is communication. Excellent
communication between the team members is important to achieve the team goals. Talking about
achieving goals of the team, it is central to have shared team goals. Also, mutual respect and trust
among the team members are main components of the teamas well. There are five identified
components of a virtual team. There differentiators commitment and engagement, shared processes
for decision making, information flow, trust, and collaboration are the most important
components of optimal virtual team performance (Derosa Lepsinger, 2010, p. 51). Not all teams
perform the same functions; however, some teams use a similar approach to reach the goals.
There are many types of teams in today s business world and those teams have similarities in a
way they approach the goals. Teams today are more diverse and more open to the news changes

To Believe and To Change in Ayn Randв
Ђ™s Anthem
To Believe and To Change Individuality arises when an individual encounters and endures a life,
taking their first step with their family which is the first society an individual faces. Through their
lives, individuals promote their own exclusive originalities, while Ayn Rand s novella Anthem
characterizes a totalitarian society suppressing individualism. In the society depicted in Anthem,
individualism is oppressed by the society imposing children live away from their families which is
one form of totalitarian dictators authority. The intention of totalitarian dictators enforcing the
arrangement of children living apart from their families is to impede individualistic society avert
dissimilarities transpiring in the process of family influences in education, forfend the
enlightenment of emotions, and the establishment of collectivism. We strive to be like all our
brother men, for all men must be alike (Rand 21). Although being divergent is a sin, transgression
in Anthem society, Prometheus, the protagonist, defies against collectivism by standing out and
becoming an outcast of himself in his society with self assurance and eagerness. No one in Anthem
society has individualidentity by inspecting the inexistence of the word I, while Prometheus detects
the Unspeakable Word, ego, exposing the readers to envisage the propitious prospect of the
establishment of individualism.

Comparing Rita And Willy Russell s Educating Rita
THE STRUGGLES OF TRANSITIONS ARE WORTH THE EFFORT.
In todays issue, we will be reviewing Willy Russell s 1980 play Educating Rita . Rita grew up in
a lower class family in England. Here, she worked as a hairdresser before being compelled to
change her future. She began taking up a course in literature with none other than Dr. Frank
Bryant, the drunken mess of the Open University. In comparison, we will also be addressing
Alan Jay Lerner s 1964 musical, My Fair Lady , which follows Eliza Doolittle s transition into
the life of academia, with the help of Professor Henry Higgins, in 1912 England society. Higgins
studies linguistics with a firm belief that the accent of a person determines their place in society.
He came across Eliza and began boasting to his friend, Pickering, that his talents are so good that
he could even change her Cockney accent and pass her off as a duchess. Eliza shows up at
Higgins door the next morning, looking for speaking lessons from him. Both texts are very closely

Despite all this, she has made her own decision that she will come and be tutored by Frank. The

class or gender, every person should have access to it. As a part of her transformation, Rita
changes her name back to her original name, Susan. This is a symbolic part of the play as it shows
us that she has now found who she truely is, and the name change signifies that. Didn t think of it

Hiroshima Bombing Effects
The atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan can be viewed as a
good or bad thing. Some people think that Japan deserved it considering that they attacked Pearl
Harbor, but some think that two wrongs do not make a right. The bombings on Japan had very
long lasting effects on the country and the people. The bombings were a cruel thing to do that
killed so many and a large amount of people suffered from the after effects of the bombs for days
or for years. Some people believe it was more of a political statement behind the bombings and
others think it was to protect the American people and our Military. The bombs were dropped
towards the end of World War II so why do such a thing when the war was ending? Why start
another fight?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the article it writes that President Harry S. Truman, warned by some of his advisers that any
attempt to invade Japan would result in horrific American casualties, ordered that the new weapon
be used to bring the war to a speedy end. The bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima killed 80,000
people, and the bomb dropped on Nagasaki killed 40,000 people. Another devastating number
mentioned in the article is that Tens of thousands more died in the following weeks from wounds
and radiation poisoning People who have followed the subject believe that the bombs were a two
in one punch, with one being bringing the war with Japan to an end and the other being to make a
statement to the Soviet Union. Truman expected that the fact that the U.S. could carry out attacks
like this would possibly give them diplomatic leverage with the Soviet Union. The article also
notes in this fashion, the dropping of the atomic bomb on Japan can be seen as the first shot of the
Cold War .

Metal Bats In Baseball
The pitchers throws the ball, and the batter hits it. The following seconds are a blur, next thing
everyone knows is that the pitcher is on the ground clutching his head. This terrifying fact actually
was happening in youth, high school, and college baseball. This was the effect of bats under the
BESR certification. This certification allowed the bats to have a trampoline effect which allowed
the bat to bend more and rocket the ball off. Most of the baseballfatalities occur due to pitchers
getting hit with a line drive back at him. However, changes have been made that have made the
game safer for pitchers and made it less of an offensive and made it a defensive game. Metal bats
are still a problem, this will prove the problems and the danger they cause to defensive players, the
changes that have been made and how they affect the game, and why metal bats should just be
outlawed all together.
The number one problem with the bats is the trampoline effect this effect occurs when the ball
uses the bat as a trampoline and springs off of it. From the college level on down, the bat has
evolved from wood to a clunky metal tube to a marvel of lightweight hitting power that ... Show

Essay on Ambiguity of The Minister’s Black Veil
Ambiguity of The Minister s Black Veil
There is no end to the ambiguity in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black Veil ; this essay
hopes to explore this problem within the tale.
In New England Men of Letters Wilson Sullivan relates the purpose of Hawthorne s veiled image:
He sought, in Hamlet s telling words to his palace players, to hold the mirror up to nature, and to
report what he saw in that mirror even his own veiled image without distortion. Life is made up, ,
Hawthorne said, of marble and mud. In the pages of his finest works, both marble and mud are held
in a just, unique, and artistic balance(95).

When it shows signs of having been groped and fumbled for, the needful illusion is of course
absent, and the failure complete. Then the machinery alone is visible and the end to which it
operates becomes a matter of indifference (50).
When one has to grope for, and fumble for, the meaning of a tale, then there is failure in the work,
as Henry James says. This unfortunately is the case of The Minister s Black Veil. It is so ambiguous
in so many occasions in the tale that a blur rather than a distinct image forms in the mind of the
reader. The Norton Anthology: American Literature states in Nathaniel Hawthorne :
Above all, his theme was curiosity about the recesses of other men s and women s beings. About
this theme he was always ambivalent [my italics], for he knew that his success as a writer
depended upon his keen psychological analysis of people he met, while he could never forget that
invasion of the sanctity of another s personality may harden the heart even as it enriches the mind
(548).
Ambivalence, or the simultaneous and contradictory attitude and/or feeling toward an object, etc.,
may well be the cause of the extreme ambiguity, doubt, uncertainty in the mind of the reader of The
Minister s Black Veil. Intentional ambivalence on the part of the author in order not to offend too
many may be a plausible explanation for the author s ambiguity. H.J. Lang in How Ambiguous Is
Hawthorne? states:

The Giver Response Essay
The Giver Memories are forever (Lowry). People make new memories every day without even
realizing it. Some good some bad, that s just the way of life, but in The Giver nobody knows
what happened before them. People barley remember what their childhood was like, they don t
understand the importance of memory and that memories are forever. Aspects of life, rules, and
prosperities between our world and Jonas world are very different yet have some similarities.
Things that are crucial to the characters in The Giver are not as meaningful to the people in our
world. Color. It s all around us, we see it every day of our lives, everything has color, but the
people in Jonas community didn t know this. They had no clue what color was or that it even
existed. Their society was hue less, hopeless, and everything was the same until the new receiver
of memory changed that for everyone. In our world choice is a big part of our everyday lives we
make many choices a day, do I want this or that, green or blue, this shirt or that shirt? But in The

  • 2. Food Taboos Food Taboos Would You Eat Breast Milk Cheese? (Hamm, 2010). I have shown this headline to multiple people and have received the same reaction from everyone. Most of these people I work with at a daycare. We all handle and serve breast milk on a daily basis. Also we watch mothers nurse their infants. Yet, the reaction did not surprise me, even with this comfort level with human breast milk. This reaction falls along the line of disgust and shock. One person even reacted with a sharp reply of I DID NOT NEED TO SEE THAT! There is something about the thought of consuming human breast milk that makes people squirm. Human Breast Milk is touted as the perfected food for infants. There is extreme pressure placed on new mothers to nurse or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two documentaries airing on the National Geographic Channel this week examine delicacies and taboo foods around the globe, revealing that what s good or bad is all a matter of taste. (National Geographic). This is only one of the channels that covers this topic on a regular occasion (I would use the word basis); there are many more that cover every kind of taboo in the world. Culture forms as sense of who we are in the larger community in which we exist among. This connection shapes the rules we follow to exist to peacefully live with one another. The culture we grow up in shapes our relationship with food. For better or worse, depending on if we accept and live up to the cultural norms presented to us. For those who choose to not follow them will be faced with consequences for rejecting theses norms. For me, the sub culture of my family in the United States has had a major impact of what food taboos I hold. I was raised on a very limited palate of food diversity and was rarely challenged to try new or unique food. This is only made worse by having Asperger s Syndrome, which, causes sensory issues related to food. It can relate to any of the senses related to eating or cooking. As a result, I do not enjoy eating as a general rule and do not derive pleasure from it. The reason why this is true: is that I am very picky and eating is challenging for me. This taboo can affect me socially. Our society in the United States, places ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Beauty In The Chronicles Of Narnia C.S. Lewis had an instinctive pleasure for a little bit of this and a little bit of that in what he wrote. Lewis love for sweet disorder is inspired by British poet Robert Herrick. This love allowed Lewis to unify excerpts and themes from religious works, mythology from various cultures, and literature of famous writers. Lewis had the ability to commerce a theme into an extensive, greater idea to construct it in what he wrote. Throughout The Chronicles of Narnia, he expresses the beauty he sees in disorder. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, The Magicians Nephew, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treaderare three of the main books that he shows his admiration. If Lewis had not used the literary elements of animals and planets in The Chronicles of Narnia series, then these books would lack the true art and connotation of what Lewis wants to portray throughout these books. In The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe, animals become powerful literary choices. A lion exists as an authoritative creature who leads amongst most. Come, Son of Adam, and I will you show you a far off sight of the castle where you are to be King (LWW 129). Talking lions stand among the most respected creatures in all Narnia. Although the children had just met Aslan, they knew that they should follow his leadership and obey under his commands. This creature embodies as the king of the beast . The lion (Aslan) is depicted in the book to represent Jesus Christ, known as the lord of Narnia. Another animal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. A Brief Note On The Affordable Care Act Just as the Affordable Care Act has it s positive outcomes that can help many people, it also comes along with several downsides. The first downside is that the Affordable Care Act will not only raise taxes to help fund for it but it will affect many of the high earners because they will have to pay higher taxes. Not only that is an issue but will also hurt those middle class Americans that do not quite make enough but at the same time are not completely living in poverty. These people will be the most affected by the taxes because it will affect our American Citizens directly. Also, these taxes are not quite specified but it is stated that even larger firms will have to pay a larger sum of moneydue to the taxes being enforced with the Affordable Care Act. They will begin to see a negative financial effects as well as their employees because they will also be held accountable to get those taxes take from their paychecks so they too will see a negative financial effect. Quite Frankly, that is a very tough to happen to employers and employees because they work hard to make ends meet and if additional taxes are going to be added to their paychecks to deduct more of their pay it can really hurt the employee as well as their family. Another Con that the Affordable Care Act brings to the table is that health insurancewill rise and be more costly for our American Citizens. They do say the quality will improve in the long run but it was never mentioned specifically of the amount ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Theory Of Classical Conditioning Classical conditioning is based on an association between two stimuli and implies that we as organisms are rather passive in the learning process. Operant conditioning is based on a response and stimuli (i.e., consequences) that follow that response. Operant implies that organisms operate on the environment to produce consequences we anticipate based on previous active learning. Classical conditioning, the association between two stimuli is easily demonstrated in the media. For example, advertising professionals know that they have to pair their products with something that will trigger something in the audience. By pairing their products with something that makes people either happy, excited, or even hungry. They know that people will want to purchase their products. Coca Cola has been pairing their products with Christmas for years. Christmas naturally makes most people happy and excited for the holiday season. During the Coca Cola Christmas commercial for 2010, it starts with Santa running through a parking lot. As it continues hundreds of red semi trucks covered in white lights appear. Through the trees you catch a glimpse of the Coca Cola label and Santa sitting in a chair drinking a coke. While Christmas music plays children run to line the road to watch the trucks pass. As the commercial continues the music gets louder and more lights start to light up with trees. The commercial then flashes to a father reading a Christmas story to his son while sharing ... • 7. Bach, Johann Sebastian Bach And Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Jonathan Hugendubler Fugue Bach Shostakovich 10/10/2017 Comparative Fugal Analysis The fugue is often regarded as a genre defined by strict procedural guidelines. It is notable that three historically important composers, Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 1750), Georg Friedrich Handel (1685 1759), and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart(1756 1791), all employed a closely related fugue subject in three different works. An analysis of each of these works individually, and a comparison of these works collectively reveal numerous latent and salient features, and a reflection of the composers style within these works. Analyses also provide an outlook into the fluidity in certain aspects and rigidity in others of the form itself, reflected historically. The three composers analyzed fall closely together in history. J.S. Bach and G.F. Handel were contemporaries, whereas Mozart was born six years after Bach s death and three years before Handel s death. Analytically, the angularity of these similar fugue subjects presupposes a treatment regardless of the composer. Because of the shared intervallic content among the subjects of these fugues, despite being written by several different composers, a surprising number of similarities arise. Therefore, it is reasonable to assert that compositional choices made in the construction of the fugue subjects limit the number of results possible. This analysis will use the A minor fugue from of J.S. Bach s The Well Tempered Clavier, Book 2 G.F. Handel s And ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The interiors are also significant as it is a representation of how society applied their expectations of each other. Throughout the McCarthy period, there was the great threat of the Russians, the communists, who could potentially use nuclear technology to attack America. Also, any person who unpatriotically supported communism was harshly dealt with. These events were represented in an exact scale model of the Mental Institution. Anyone who dared to cause an uproar was humiliated in group therapy sessions, or given Electroshock Therapy, or in extreme cases such as McMurphy, lobotomy. In the hospital, McMurphy represented the rebel, the opposer to the Combine (McCarthyism), the one who wanted to break free of society s conformity. Setting is also important, as it refers to the period this book was set in, the 1950 s. Ultimately, it is a reflection of what was happening in American society at the time, and what American society expected from each other. • 10. What Are The 8 Features Of Crime 8 Features of Crime There are eight essential factors that are found every crime and therefore make up the legal concept as to what crime is. The eight concepts are actus reus, mens rea, concurrence, causation, harm, legality, necessary attendant circumstances, and punishment. Actus reus means guilty act, or any act that is in violation of the law. This term describes the physical not the mental act of committing a crime.Omission to act is also represented under this act, for example child neglect where a parent or guardian does not fulfill their duties that are afforded to a child. Another part to this is also threatening to act which can be criminal as well. If you tell someone that you re going to murder them can get one into trouble because threats, especially those against the president, are taken very seriously.Attempted murder is also illegal even if it is not accomplished if one is caught in the act or of doing the act then they can be arrested. Conspiring to commit an illegal act and that can be proven is illegal as well. One example is if you were to have this elaborate plan to rob a very prominent bank and you are communicating with people and making plans of the building then that is enough to get you in trouble for conspiring. These are the concepts that fall under actus reus . The next idea of crime is mens rea which is kind of like partner to actus rea. Ensuring robustness of financial models and the effectiveness of all systems used to calculate market risk. Liquidity risk is the potential inability to meet the bank s liabilities as they become due and are managed through caps on the net asset calculations in the various time buckets. Interest rate risk is the risk where changes in market interest rates might adversely affect a bank s financial condition. A long term impact of changing interest rate is on banks net worth since the economic value of bank s assets, liabilities and off balance sheet positions get affected due to variation in market interest rates. The management of Interest Rate Risk should be one of the critical components of market risk management in banks. Deregulation of interest rates has, however, exposed them to the adverse impacts of interest rate risks. Most of the gas molecules in the atmosphere are not able to absorb this energy and it passes through and out into space. • 20. Why Hunting Should Be Made Illegal Hunting has always been a fundamental aspect of life throughout human s history. Thus, it s widely accepted that hunting animals for food and other similar purposes is normal. However, there has been lots of debate involving the legality of hunting animals for trophies. This essay argues that trophy huntingshould be made illegal. It will show two major reasons supporting this main conclusion, involving the negative impacts of trophies hunting on the biological diversity and evolution. It will then examine one main objection relating to the benefits of the activity for animal conservation, but will rebut this objection. The first reason to consider why trophies hunting should be made illegal is that trophies can lead to the extinctions of numerous species, and these mass extinctions are believed to affect the biological diversity tremendously. There are two ways trophy hunting can lead to rapid extinctions of various animals. Firstly, trophy hunters tend to hunt endangered species, which are already at risk of extinction according to their definition. This is due to hunting valuable targets may reward trophy lots of money, and recent studies have shown that endangered species are often seen as high value targets no matter the cause of their rarity (Palazy et al. 2011). For instance, one single bighorn sheep was sold for at least 400,000 US dollars during a private auction (Palazy et al. 2011). There is little evidence that this belief is based on anything other than stereotyping. Many authors have used talking ravens in their writing however Edgar Allen Poe was inspired by A Tale of the Riots Eighty by Charles Dickens. Edgar Allan Poe wrote this poem when his wife was on her deathbed. Throughout the poem, he looks for some answers related to Lenore, wishing that she would come to him even if in a ghostly form, because he loves her and wants her. The ravenin the poem may also symbolize the narrator as a person as well. In stanza 12, line 5, the poem reads: ...this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous bird of yore. These all seem to describe what the narrator is feeling. Yore means long ago, or to look back in time, like he was looking back on Lenore. In Edgar Allen Poe s poem, The Raven, the narrator is taunted and goaded by a raven in the midst of his grieving the death of his love, Lenore. In his poem, Poe does not make it clear if the raven is a real, physical bird inside the narrator s chambers or if the slightly mad narrator conjured up this being inside his own head. These changes happen to affect the environment within which the projects are being carried and they often call for strategies to be developed by the developing body to make sure that these impacts are reduced significantly (Beer, Au and Hall n.d.). Despite different development projects aiming at bringing about some positive changes in the society or in a given setting, studies show that the same projects may lead to conflicts between the environmentand the human activities being carried out in that particular region. Initially, the campaign for economic growth was viewed as the key for increasing the standards of living in a given region but very little attention was given to the social and environmental sensitivity and impacts that accompanied these projects (Chen, Liu and Liaw 2011). More and more people, especially these days have been enrolling in online classes, due to the new technology being released. Online classes have been at lower quality because of 3 reasons: how easy it is to cheat on them, the amount of money being put into them is outrageous, and how small amount of control the professors have. Heroin and other opiates were made illegal in 1920 as part of the Dangerous Drugs Act. Still today, however, Heroin is illegally manufactured and imported, largely from the Indian sub continent. As well as killing pain, moderate doses of pure opioids produce a range of mild effects. They depress the activity of the nervous system, including such reflexes as coughing, breathing and heart rate. They also cause widening of the blood vessels, which gives a feeling of warmth and reduces bowel activity, which causes constipation. Heroin itself can be taken in three ways, injecting a solution of heroin and water into your vein, snorting it, or inhaling it. A person will receive maximum effects if they inject it. Basically heroin makes people feel as if they are in a state of Euphoria for a small amount of time, and cause people to be drowsy warm and content, which kind of detaches you from pain. After Heroin is injected or inhaled, it crosses the blood brain barrier, and once in the brain, it is converted to morphine and will bind with opioid receptors. • 56. Hiroshima Bombing Effects The atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan can be viewed as a good or bad thing. Some people think that Japan deserved it considering that they attacked Pearl Harbor, but some think that two wrongs do not make a right. The bombings on Japan had very long lasting effects on the country and the people. The bombings were a cruel thing to do that killed so many and a large amount of people suffered from the after effects of the bombs for days or for years. Some people believe it was more of a political statement behind the bombings and others think it was to protect the American people and our Military. The bombs were dropped towards the end of World War II so why do such a thing when the war was ending? Why start another fight?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Truman, warned by some of his advisers that any attempt to invade Japan would result in horrific American casualties, ordered that the new weapon be used to bring the war to a speedy end. Another devastating number mentioned in the article is that Tens of thousands more died in the following weeks from wounds and radiation poisoning People who have followed the subject believe that the bombs were a two in one punch, with one being bringing the war with Japan to an end and the other being to make a statement to the Soviet Union. • 57. Metal Bats In Baseball The pitchers throws the ball, and the batter hits it. The following seconds are a blur, next thing everyone knows is that the pitcher is on the ground clutching his head. This terrifying fact actually was happening in youth, high school, and college baseball. This was the effect of bats under the BESR certification. This certification allowed the bats to have a trampoline effect which allowed the bat to bend more and rocket the ball off. Most of the baseballfatalities occur due to pitchers getting hit with a line drive back at him. However, changes have been made that have made the game safer for pitchers and made it less of an offensive and made it a defensive game. Metal bats are still a problem, this will prove the problems and the danger they cause to defensive players, the changes that have been made and how they affect the game, and why metal bats should just be outlawed all together. The number one problem with the bats is the trampoline effect this effect occurs when the ball uses the bat as a trampoline and springs off of it. From the college level on down, the bat has evolved from wood to a clunky metal tube to a marvel of lightweight hitting power that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The game WAS broken because it was not normal baseball being played. When terrible hitters can hit .300, guess what, it was broken. When you have to use a ball that was supposed to allow for pitchers to have some chance against those juiced bats, it means it was broken. Those that can t coach or teach hitting but can only recruit, well, those programs will struggle going forward. To those that are saying the game will unfairly swing toward the pitchers and create an unequal playing field ... oh my goodness... it has been swung toward hitters for over 20 years in college baseball. • 58. Essay on Ambiguity of The Minister’s Black Veil Ambiguity of The Minister s Black Veil There is no end to the ambiguity in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black Veil ; this essay hopes to explore this problem within the tale. In New England Men of Letters Wilson Sullivan relates the purpose of Hawthorne s veiled image: He sought, in Hamlet s telling words to his palace players, to hold the mirror up to nature, and to report what he saw in that mirror even his own veiled image without distortion. Life is made up, , Hawthorne said, of marble and mud. In the pages of his finest works, both marble and mud are held in a just, unique, and artistic balance(95). Hyatt H. Waggoner in Nathaniel Hawthorne testifies that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When it shows signs of having been groped and fumbled for, the needful illusion is of course absent, and the failure complete. Then the machinery alone is visible and the end to which it operates becomes a matter of indifference (50). When one has to grope for, and fumble for, the meaning of a tale, then there is failure in the work, as Henry James says. This unfortunately is the case of The Minister s Black Veil. It is so ambiguous in so many occasions in the tale that a blur rather than a distinct image forms in the mind of the reader. The Norton Anthology: American Literature states in Nathaniel Hawthorne : Above all, his theme was curiosity about the recesses of other men s and women s beings. About this theme he was always ambivalent [my italics], for he knew that his success as a writer depended upon his keen psychological analysis of people he met, while he could never forget that invasion of the sanctity of another s personality may harden the heart even as it enriches the mind (548). Ambivalence, or the simultaneous and contradictory attitude and/or feeling toward an object, etc., may well be the cause of the extreme ambiguity, doubt, uncertainty in the mind of the reader of The Minister s Black Veil. Intentional ambivalence on the part of the author in order not to offend too many may be a plausible explanation for the author s ambiguity. H.J. Lang in How Ambiguous Is Hawthorne? states: In trying to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People barley remember what their childhood was like, they don t understand the importance of memory and that memories are forever. It s all around us, we see it every day of our lives, everything has color, but the people in Jonas community didn t know this. They had no clue what color was or that it even existed.
